good afternoon thank you for coming i have information on four critical incidents to share this afternoon first we have five people in custody for the homicides of the three members of the thompson family as well as the murder of brittany roberts robertson we're currently questioning them to determine their level of involvement with each of these incidents i'm here with some of the investigators who've worked tirelessly on this case since early friday morning lieutenant ken grahams and lead detectives gus petropolis dan thompson rodney young and matt goldberg this has been an extremely complicated investigation not to mention a very troubling crime scene these investigators have done a remarkable job pulling together the leads in this case and tying together the relationships of the individuals involved their work's been nothing short of outstanding indeed given the number of critical incidents that have occurred within a very brief time that work is actually nothing short of extraordinary second as you know we had a homicide last night at 8 15 p.m thomas viljevac age 59 was shot at his home in the 200 block of north 30th street we have two people in custody in connection with that murder the victim was known to keep large amounts of money in his house he was also someone in the habit of trying to help people down on their luck by taking them in to live with him for periods of time we are interviewing two people right now to determine the exact sequence of events third last night two people were shot during a domestic argument at 10 15 p.m at a home in the 3200 block of north 26th street a 31 year old man was shot in the chest and a 23 year old man was shot in the arm neither of their wounds are considered life-threatening we are currently seeking a female suspect known to both of them whom we believe committed the assault lastly a 21 year old woman died this morning at about 2 30 a.m when she walked into the middle of the street and was struck by a van that was fleeing the police at a high rate of speed she is identified as melinda moore of milwaukee police officers in a mock marked squad pulled over this van earlier but after initially stopping for the police the van pulled away and it attempted to elude them while the police were pursuing this vehicle it apparently struck the victim killing her and fleeing the scene without slowing down she was discovered by the secondary pursuing unit which immediately called for med units to come to the scene we've recovered that van and arrested three individuals we have identified the driver who is currently on parole for fleeing an officer and who has an open warrant for violating his parole he has an arrest record for drug and weapons violations and operating a vehicle without the owner's consent we are currently seeking him officers were attempting to stop the chrysler town and country because it had suspended license plates and the vehicle matched the description of the most frequently stolen vehicle in that part of the city we are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding this incident including our conduct of the pursuit
