this is an AV a7 Corsair it's a light attack plane formerly of the US Navy today we traveled over to Birmingham Alabama and we're gonna check out the southern Museum of Flight [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] here's a good look at that a seven-course here that's on the pole right out front of the museum you can see they they didn't cover them up or anything it still has the attachments for missiles they want you to come here and get married they have this area here with all these models some pretty interesting rf-4c it's pretty cool they're pretty interesting room for starters they have a car sitting here this is a 1903 Cadillac Wow this is the long wing they have some really old bicycles sitting out here in front of it as well maybe this one yeah that's a classic 1930 flare gun there a ship's bill from us of course yes 38 it was a flying boat this hat was worn by Ruth elder the greatest ocean air flight ever made by a woman well they even have a model of the USS Birmingham well this gear was worn by Bessie Coleman there's also her parachute here and Bessie was the first black woman to earn a pilot's license this was her gear this is actually from my hometown this is from Montgomery Maxwell Field which is now Maxwell Air Force Base the Wright brothers founded it and speaking of the Wright brothers here they are both of the Wright brothers are right there and this is Wright Flyer 1 there is a model of this airplane we actually showed it to you in a previous video over here in this corner they have a 1927 Model T forward that's cool and just hanging out in here up here in the ceiling above us they have a replica of the spirit of st. Louis mr. Charles Lindbergh's plane is flying above us they also have another Wright brothers plane over here this is a crop duster playing here this is from World War one it's the US soldiers outfit with gas masks in the pouch and here would this would be his trunk is mess kit binoculars a ditty bag pocket sewing kit pocket pouch speak French there's a Bible look at this thing here this is a Fokker d7 says it has a Mercedes 180 horsepower six-cylinder engine inside of it there's a there's a Nazi there's a Nazi fixing to get in and fly hanging from the ceiling here is another replica of an older plane and then you get here's the 1915 grant a touring car it's unique matter of fact I don't think that I've ever seen a grant in this old I've seen Ford's Cadillacs but I've never seen a grant there's a bomb inside of that case alright we're coming into another room and immediately when you walk in there is a helicopter sitting right here oh look at this guy I've seen these on TV I've never seen one in real life it's the Kimbra kb3 you know somebody made this in their backyard they wanted to fly this one is the Ross Seaver in the ocean it can float on water or land on water or laying on a runway this is the rattan I don't know this this might be the one that I flew on grand theft auto because this looks like the stunt plane it says Mustang on it this one's official title is a bush B this is a Paz Manny you can see that the wings have come off a bit to make it fit this is another homemade flight machine out of a go-kart frame and it would have had fabric covering those wings glace our look at that thing there man that's funny looking there's another one over there's will one of my favorite things ever this wall here there's references to one of my favorite topics it's the space shuttle look at this right here this is a mercury rocket we are entering the flying Heritage gallery now look at these models here of these aircraft carriers these things are massive with all these bombers here on the top of it this is a model of the Big E the USS Enterprise here's a battleship this is the USS Birmingham this one has the launcher here on the back the very first aircraft carrier here is a United States Air Force Thunderbirds flight helmet here is some kind of cockpit here the oxy cart program oh this is a blackbird that's a blackbird cockpit which you would see right here so this section is what it is that's cool so we all know that the Blackbird here was a spa plane but it flew so high so that it could be away from any anti-aircraft and so maybe it didn't even get detected that it had to have a huge camera to be able to do this buying that camera is right here in this case behind me this is an sr-71 camera very cool this is a rather interesting case this is the bust of Amelia Earhart and this is Amelia Earhart's personal baggage right there surely you've all seen this poster during World War two while all the men were gone fighting the war the women stepped up it started working in the factories but the woman who was modeling who took the picture for that photo her outfit is right here this is the outfit from that picture the Lake Murray b25 look at this thing man this thing looks amazing it's just that it's a wrecked aircraft here's it's machine guns the last b25 flown by the Tuskegee Airmen is sitting here look at this man you recognize this anywhere this is an OHA helicopter attack helicopter I should say all right so we all know that my love affair with space you know right now our astronauts travel to space on board a Russian Soyuz aircraft well once they land back on earth the Russian military picked them up and they pick them up in this this is a hind and it's really cool to see this hind is awesome it even has still has rockets attached to the side here but they will pick that astronauts up and put them inside of it and fly them out of the landing zone this thing has a minigun here attached to the front of it [Music] this one's a tight squeeze here we've coming out to an area outside where they have several more planes on display but what's really cool is a Blue Angel here they have a blue Angel sitting here and that's pretty cool this one here behind me is the mcdonnell-douglas phantom 2 this one is not necessarily built for its military power this one was built for speed as a matter of fact NASA still use these planes this exact model to fly astronauts from say Cape Canaveral Florida to Houston Texas that is it for the southern museum of flight here in Birmingham Alabama this was a great adventure I I do like airplanes I want to thank you all for watching now we'll see you again tomorrow tomorrow's going to be a special day oh yes tomorrow will be a special day indeed [Music] perfect day I think perfect day perfect
