I good evening I'm Pinellas County Sheriff fog wall period about six o'clock cassini deputies responded to an address here on criminal place in palm harbor one of the residents been out walking and saw a male walking between two of the residences here hearing a handgun that person was later identified as Todd w ro ro w/e and Hamburg hidden yes two days Todd w ro date of birth 10 1769 as it turns out he resides here in the 2300 block the curlew avenue and the resident was concerned as they saw bro walking between the houses he has done in his hands the resident reported hearing a gunshot and he had discharged the firearm the resident called sheriff's deputies responded and one of the responding deputies was deputy Chris clients deputy lions park to the east of the residents spoke with another neighbor who said that they had seen grow outside with a gun and he had a history of being outside with the gun in the past so deputy lions went to the backyard of the residents trying to find row and investigate the incident it is deputy lines was in the backyard the South isn't a banquet in deputy lines had gone down the embankment to provide some cover and concealment for himself at that point he saw rope come out of his residence and appear in the southeast corner of the backyard at that point deputy lions saw that row had a firearm in his hand the firearm is in the backyard and it looks to me to probably be about a 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun but again want me to make that further determination as we continue the investigation deputy lions told row to drop the handgun and several times ordered him to drop the gun and that's confirmed by an independent witness neighbor who heard what was going on and heard deputy lines challenge rope and tell him several times to drop the gun road did not drop the gun he had it pointed in deputy to client's direction and his deputy Alliance moved he actually started tracking deputy lions as he was moving to try and get away and to move off to the side at that point because role was not following commands to drop the gun and he was pointed at deputy lions and of course at that point being in fear and concerned for his safety deputy lions fired about four rounds one of the rounds stuck truck row in the upper body and the latest from the hospital is is that row is alive and he is these are not like threatening injuries he was taken to st. Joseph's Hospital and half of where he remains so the investigation is ongoing at this point road does have a history pretty extensive history for a number of offenses they snow to the sheriff's office we had an altercation with him here in 2014 again when he had a firearm he was arrested as a result a an incident where he was uncooperative with the deputy had expressed at that point that he was one in wanted to fight the deputy so he has a history of being anti law enforcement and also has a history of alcohol-related incidents now we don't know how much even drinking tonight there is some evidence for all consumption we don't know about mental health issues but I don't be all part of the investigation as inconvenient so that's pretty much what we know at this point and happy to take any questions yet when you say he was tracking will happen can you describe what he was doing with his hands and he was right so the way it was described in the way in talking to deputy Alliance what happened is he was down the embankment so role was in the backyard and roll had the firearm out like this and deputy Lyons was moving for concealment and cover so he was tracking them following him as deputy lines was trying to move away so very concerning obviously because it was showed the intent on his part and when he was told to drop the gun he didn't drop your gun in fact this deputy Linus was moving row was tracking him in those movements that's where deputy lines had the fire protection struck with deputy line moving like find cover and let you running as easily and I was kind of moving side to side so he wasn't running but yes he was moving to gain a better position to cover and to assess the situation and begin giving those verbal commands to grow to drop that gun and he wants to doing it and as soon as he didn't drop the gun and his clients was moving in row was following him with a gun and of course stephanie lyons had to protect himself and that's when he fired all right we'll provide further information as we know it but it is always that's the best information the witness you were talking about is that a resident of a nearby home I mean the person who heard this man exactly yeah it is a resident here in that person's in the process of being interview right now by sheriff's homicide detectives there are several witnesses here as always where the very early stages of this will be here for several hours tonight it's not doing the investigation and talking to additional witnesses but there are several witnesses that saw him with the gun and the original complaint and others that were aware of what was happening the Jaffa Gate be suspended with pay for the pain administrative leave yeah normal course of action is we put them on administrative leave just to make sure that everything's fine with them you go through that normal process that we always follow in these cases I thank you thank you
