when an inmate refuses to comply or opposes a threat to themselves and other inmates it's up to the corrections response team or CRT to step in and address the situation CRT is similar to a SWAT team but operates primarily within the Pinellas County Jail with the exception of assisting high-risk inmate transports recently we went inside the star to learn more about the corrections response team the team is composed of up to 50 members that like SWAT team members have regular duties and responsibilities outside of CRT team members train on a monthly basis in a variety of scenarios including defusing riots and recreation areas and extracting non-compliant inmates from their cells in the event of a riot not only would the CRT Team Leader give unruly inmates every opportunity to comply they would also give inmates that may not be involved the opportunity to lay facedown indicating they are not participating in the demonstration even if the team were able to isolate the unruly inmate the fight could still continue on jail grounds CRT only utilizes non-lethal weapons including batons tasers and pepper ball guns in a cell attraction scenario the intimidating stomps appear as CRT approaches is intended to do just that intimidate the inmate to encourage compliance the team leader will repeatedly ask the inmate if they will comply and make sure they understand that their lack of compliance will result in the team being deployed into the cell when the four-man team enters the cell and makes contact with the inmate you can see that they each have a specific role in order to safely restrain and remove them from the cell in some cases inmates are aggressive and threatened deputies requiring different tactics I'm asking you now will you comply no if you send them into Mizzou you're hurt inmate I'm advising you you've gotta comply my Lords your forcemeat sent this to me b1 equal primes where's the lies don't get hurt be advised see me as a weapon who can go stand medication right left bar to comply will you comply what do you think come on it what are you here let's make the corrections response team is just another tool the agency has a better serve the citizens of Pinellas County even those that find themselves within the walls of the Pinellas County Jail the dedication of CRT to protecting their fellow members as well as the inmates for whom they are responsible is another testament to the fact that whether out on the street or inside the jail were always focused on leading the way for a safer Pinellas this was brought to you by inside the star your window into the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office
