It was actually pretty slow that day. There was nothing going on. Next thing you know, shots fired [clears throat] at the LA Fitness. There's no way. That's my gym. It was the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Very nice place. More calls are starting to come. I was like, "Oh, this is real." The dispatcher kept on saying like, "He is actively shooting people." So, I took a corner of the building. As I pull up, there's just people flooding out of the gym, yelling, screaming, and there's people that are already shot. I could see. >> And you're alone so far? >> Yeah, I'm by myself. I charged my rifle and I remember I'm not going to go in that door because he's expecting me to come in that door. He can take me out easily. Also, in that gym, there's a second story to it. So, now we have a shooter that could have been in the elevated position. That's horrifying. This is what I get paid to do, right? This is why I don't work at Walmart. >> I'm a cop. And so, I run in the entrance. I could hear the shots at that time. And with my rifle, I started rolling the door and I seen him. He seen me and he shot himself in the head. So, long story short, five people, I believe, died and maybe like nine or 10 were injured. >> All All women, right? >> Yes. All women. And through the investigation, you know, we seen that he had a dislike for women. Reading through his notes, he had practiced this multiple times. >> When was this? >> Uh, 2009. >> So, I want to back up a bit because what you did is like the modern that's the modern expectation, right? Like like you're going to go in there, you're going to stop the threat. That's something the sheriff Terry talks about. Was it a policy at the time or were you just like I'm going in. This is this is I hear gunshots. I'm going. >> Yeah. I mean it's the right thing to do, right? It's my job. That's what I get paid to do and that's what I signed up for. So, I'm gonna do it. But yeah, the policies back then were hold, >> get a team, and go. >> That's that's not the right thing. And we know that now, but I mean I knew that back
