a store and arrested her for flipping him off the level of arrogance and ignorance displayed by this Chief is incredible hold on what what was that you see your ID for what uh because what you just did is considered dis orderly conduct in the city of Lyn oh that's okay no that's a First Amendment activity no it's not actually it accident it actually is I need to see your ID please no yeah I'm going to see your ID or I'm going to put you in handcuffs and I'm going to take you to jail good luck with that excuse me you're going to take me to jail because I absolutely I will cond no that's not with profanity is protected speech and in 2021 in the case of of Garcia V New Hope the first police officer in the eth circuit lost their qualified immunity for arresting someone for giving them the bird which I can absolutely assure you is exactly what is going to happen to this police chief now I really want to point out this statement from Supreme Court Justice Brennan because this helps us to really understand why he said in the case of Houston v hill freedom of individuals verbally to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free Nation from a police state in other words only in a police state would the police arrest you for criticizing them but to me this shouldn't just apply to police either but all government officials and employees growing up I specifically remember being taught and told all the time that we are so lucky to live in a free country where we are allowed to criticize our government when we believe they're doing something wrong because in Many Nations you'll be imprisoned for that the sheriff's department arrives and implicates themselves in the lawsuit as well this is the handcuffs as he's supposed to and therefore the handcuffs continually tightened on his victim's wrists the female Deputy loosens the handcuffs and double locks them for her thank you man a few minutes later the deputy uncuff the victim and sets her free 0 01 he's talking about city ordinances you can come to me I was told to stay over here by her I don't want to be near this cop alone oh I detainment here it's not an illegal detention ma' ABS identify yourself you'd be I don't have to identify if there's not a crime committed get out of here I don't have to identify if there's not a ever be able to be in law enforcement again there's absolutely no question that his qualified immunity is completely gone here and his victim will definitely receive a settlement but that settlement will come from the taxpayers mark my words Chief Sam Ford will never suffer any personal consequences for his actions that would deter him from doing it again in the future and with no consequences for his there is absolutely no reason for him to ever take accountability for them
