I'm Deputy Barnes with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office yesterday detectives arrested 27-year-old Damian de Leon for attempted murder detectives say around 4 30 PM deputies responded to a residence located at 5820 66th Lane North after reports of a shooting and found the victim 30-year-old David de Leon Jr lying face down in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds throughout the course of the investigation detectives learned Damien and David were the only people present at the time of the shooting and that when Damien called 9-1-1 he admitted to shooting David indicating self-defense however the investigation determined Damien was the aggressor and there was no evidence to support the shooting was the result of self-defense Damien was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and charged with one count of attempted murder in the second degree he was also charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of sale and delivery of a controlled substance in reference to an unrelated incident David was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition
