[Music] so the course is uh pedestrian bicycle crash investigations and the course itself it's a 40-hour class it's put on by The Institute of police technology and management which is based out of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville so the deputies are exposed to uh a mult multitude of different parts of the investigation at least they have kind of the understanding about vehicle Dynamics and braking system skidm marks and all that that those components so what this class does is it takes it a step further and and specifically focuses on crashes that involve pedestrians and those and those that involve vehicles and bicycles we have uh members of our agency uh here at the Sheriff's Office and then they come from all over uh all over the region the one of the culminations of the course is what is going on today which is the liveaction crash testing that they're doing so they actually take a you know a dummy a mannequin and um they crash into it with a vehicle whether it's on a bicycle standing walking they try and do it in a multitude of different ways so it gives them real life exposure uh because most of the time we don't witness the crashes we come in at the back end and have to put everything back together well now having not only photos and case analysis um and studies and and being able to basically do the book work now they're exposed to the actual liveaction crashes and they can see the Dynamics firsthand you know to help them when it comes time to put these back together
