Today I have a feel-good story for you where an Ogden, Utah police officer tried to unlawfully acquire someone's ID and then when they refused, he tried to unlawfully arrest them and ended up getting himself hurt. Now, I don't think it's a good thing for people to get hurt, but if someone's going to get hurt, I'd rather it be the aggressor than the victim. And I stand by this principle in any situation. If you're an armed robber and you choose to point a gun at somebody and rob them and you get shot, I'm sorry you got shot. Maybe don't rob people. And there seems to be some common misconception in society that police are exempt from morality and have a lawful right to violently attack anyone any time for anything or nothing. The problem is the person he's attacking in this video hasn't broken any laws at all. That makes him the aggressor and her the defender. I do hope he makes it out of this alive, but if he doesn't, I know that he was the attacker and she was the defender and she was just doing what she had to do to protect herself. Here's how it all started. On July 20th, 2025, three individuals were sitting in the grass off to the side of the sidewalk, which Linquist Mortterary in Ogden, Utah, says is their property. Without approaching them themselves, management calls the Ogden Police Department to have the Ogden Police officer ask them to leave. In Utah, much like every other state in the US, in order to be trespassing, you must knowingly enter the property of another and refuse to leave when asked to do so. The standards for knowing that you're on private property would include walking past reasonably posted no trespassing signs that a reasonable person would see and understand. Passing through, climbing over, going under some type of fence or physical barrier. And the third is communication. Being verbally told by the owner, the renter, or the apparent authority that you're not wanted on the property. There's no signage, and there's no fences. Nobody from the business has ever come and told them to leave. So, the first time they're given proper notice is by this officer, at which time they all immediately agree to get up and move. >> What's up, guys? >> Hey, >> how we doing? >> Hey, >> good. How are you? >> Good. You look familiar. >> Yeah, I do. You do, too. >> Welcome back. Why are you here? >> I'm talking. >> I'm You're good, man. I'm enforcing a trespassing >> issue. Okay. >> You're on the property of Linquist. >> Yeah. >> Not looking to me up or anything. Just move you guys along after after I identify you. >> Okay. Yeah. You have your IDs on you? >> Nope. I don't. Don't. >> What's your first name? >> The officer was given legitimate authority from the property owner or manager to let these people know that they are not welcome on the property. He notifies them. They immediately start picking up their stuff. And within 30 to 60 seconds, every single one of them is off the property. But he's not satisfied with them just leaving. He wants to get all their IDs. But this is an authority that he does not have. Just like in almost every other state in Utah, an officer must have reasonable, articulable suspicion that you have committed a crime, are committing a crime, or are about to commit a crime in order to lawfully be able to demand ID. As we just read in Utah, criminal trespass requires a person to knowingly enter private property past signage, gates, fences, or to remain there after being verbally notified. Since every single one of these individuals got up and removed themselves from the private property immediately upon being notified by the officer, there is no crime and he has no lawful authority to demand ID out of anyone. >> You're not free to >> Okay, cool. Just making sure. >> It's not I'm not free to help. >> What's your name, ma'am? >> It's Cassie. >> Cassie, what's your last name? >> Marsh. >> What? >> Marsh. >> Bosch. >> Marsh. >> Marsh. It's March. >> Thank you, sir. >> Couldn't hear you. >> What's your birthday, Cassie? >> 8190. >> 81 of 90. >> Hey, ma'am. Hey, you're not free to leave. Come here. What's your name? >> I can't hear you already. >> You're not free to leave. So, come over here. >> I didn't get to express to you. You need to come back over here. So I can run your name. >> So just so I can run your name. >> You shouldn't have to run our name when we were just on property. You can tell us to get the [ __ ] off. >> No, they wanted me to enforce trespassing. >> No, it's not a language vocabulary to talk. >> We were 78. Can I get one more? >> What's up? >> I have three people by name and date of birth. Hey, >> Cassie. So, this is an unlawful detainment to begin with, but they all gave their names and date of birth anyways. Then Cassie begins to leave. >> Stand by. I got to go tell you some. Hey, Cassie, I'm going to arrest you for interference if you don't get back here. >> You can tell us. >> Drop your stuff. You're under arrest. >> Tell us to leave. >> Drop your stuff. Drop your stuff. >> No, I'll go back. You're under arrest. >> [ __ ] touch me. >> The [ __ ] is wrong with you? Son of a Let go of me. >> [ __ ] let go of me. >> I was coming back. Stop. Stop. >> You son of a >> tased. Stop. >> Don't. >> Don't roll over. >> Don't. She's a cop herself. >> Over now. Put your hand behind your back now. >> Really? Yeah. Awesome. >> Get away from me. >> I'm going to tase you. >> The [ __ ] Cassie makes multiple attempts to get away from the violent attacker, but the psychopath consistently pursues her and continues to attack her, even deploying his taser, which has no effect on the badass woman. >> Fight. Step it up. Taser deployed. >> I DARE YOU. What the [snorts] Also, you're a girl. You just ripped my hair out. Let go of me. Let [ __ ] Where's the other two that you were saying was weird, huh? Where's the other two? Where's the other two that you were saying was weird? Huh? But you come and arrest me. You come and [ __ ] harass me. Let go of me. Let go of me. Let the [ __ ] go of me. Let go of me. >> You're under arrest. >> Let go of me. >> You're under arrest. >> Well, I'm waiting for another cop. >> Waiting for another cop is an excellent idea because 99% of cops are good cops. Therefore, there's a 99% chance that the next cop that shows up is not going to assume that one person or the other is the good guy or the bad guy here. He'll probably just politely ask his fellow officer to please stop attacking this woman. Then he'll review the incident, find that his fellow officer illegally detained people and then illegally attacked them. Then with the help of the 99% of the police department that's good, they will arrest this one bad officer. When they get back to the department, all of the good officers will sing their praises for arresting the bad one. >> Let go of me. >> You're under arrest. >> Well, I'm waiting for another cop. So, get go. Let go of me. Let go of me. I'm Let go of me. Thank you. Face down. Face down. Don't move. You understand? >> Okay. All right. Let's get her done and then I'll get her. All right. >> Oh no. This isn't how I thought things would go. The good cop is handcuffing the victim. I thought for sure he'd do the right thing. >> Don't move. Okay. Let go of all this stuff. Well, grab it so I have it going. >> Pull your leg up. Go ahead. I got you. >> Just relax. What's your name, man? >> [ __ ] hot. It's Cassie. >> Okay. Cassie. >> Cassie. >> Cassie, you need to stop. >> I didn't do [ __ ] though. >> Okay. >> I did not do [ __ ] >> I can't breathe. >> Thank you. >> Good. >> My godamn. Yeah, >> the grass. Okay 76 78 104 07 you want to head this way. You're good. >> Hold on. Hold right here. Okay. Cross your ankles. >> My [ __ ] ankle snapped. >> My right ankle. >> Let me get that. That's it. >> Don't move. Okay. Let go of all the stuff. >> Well, grab it so I have it going. >> Pull your leg up. Go ahead. I got you. >> Just relax. What's your name, man? >> [ __ ] hot. It's Cassie. >> Okay. Cassie, stop. Cassie, you need to stop. >> I didn't do [ __ ] though. >> Okay. I did not do [ __ ] >> I can't breathe. >> Thank you. >> Good. >> My godamn. Okay. 76 and 78. He's 104. Sier 7, you want to head this way? your ass. [ __ ] Hold back. Hold back. Cross your cross. >> My [ __ ] ankle snapped. >> My right ankle. >> It's at this point we find out that when the officer jumped off the curb and tackled this woman in traffic, he broke his right ankle. A [ __ ] >> Slow down. >> The right one. >> Anybody else take off on you or you just >> Yeah, there were two people. Didn't get to run them. They left. >> Okay. They were on a corner at Linquist right here. >> Did they go up this way? >> I can't I didn't see where they went. >> They were on Linquist property >> and she left. >> I was trying to get her to stay and she kept trying to walk off. >> I didn't get to run her >> maybe trespassing, but >> I was just going to talk to him and kept trying to leave. >> She walked off. Somebody has >> 10 time shotgun on >> maybe attempted contact but I know they're homeless. >> So if they meas one of your >> seemed like they wanted to get in this crosswalk and maybe go east go west. >> Ankle snapped right now. >> I'm shocked by this. So, I thought that most of these cops would be good, but now it looks like the other officers are going to go and try to redetain the two individuals that got away that were illegally detained in the first place. Now, the police channel that posted this video also gave us a false written narrative in the description as if we couldn't see the video for ourselves. It says, "A welfare check in Ogden City, Utah, escalates in seconds when a woman suddenly attacks the responding officer. But in the video, the officer tells his fellow officers that he saw these individuals sitting in the grass, went up to the owners of the mortuary and asked if he could trespass them. The video also shows the officer repeatedly attacking the woman while the woman repeatedly tries to get away. It says the officer attempts to deescalate, but the suspect repeatedly charges at him, but the video shows that as soon as she's able to kick him off of her, she attempts to simply leave. He attempts to tase her. When she does leave, he literally charges her. I don't know who owns the channel that originally posted this body cam, but my guess is it's got to be a cop because they accuse her of everything that he did. Now, check this out. She wasn't charged with trespassing or failure to ID because she wasn't trespassing and she didn't fail to ID. As a matter of fact, she didn't commit any crime before the officer violently attacked her. She was charged with failure to comply with lawful commands, but the officer didn't give any lawful commands. Essie had no lawful authority to do anything to her since she hadn't committed any crimes. She's also charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer. While you have a natural right to defend yourself by any means necessary up to and including deadly force against an unlawful violent attacker. And while the state of Utah recognizes this right, they did make legislation in Utah exempting police from the natural consequences of their actions. In other words, they made legislation saying that even if a cop is illegally and unlawfully attacking you, as long as he calls it an arrest, you are not allowed to defend yourself. Therefore, I believe that in their system, she'll be convicted of all the charges unless she takes some kind of plea deal. However, if we lived in a civilized society with a just system of law and order, she would have been justified in using any amount of force necessary to defend herself against these attackers. It was the late philosopher Frederick Bastiat who said, "When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in a society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it. If the laws in your society say that certain people can unlawfully and illegally violently attack you and that you are not allowed to do anything about it, you are being ruled by criminals.
