A drawing left on a Tucson police officer's Starbucks cup [music] is causing the police officer's police officer's association president now to speak out. And now Starbucks is saying it could be a misunderstanding. The officer believed an employee drew a pig on her drink leading her to believe it may have been a derogatory message directed at her as a police officer. Tucson News 4 Tucson's Jacob Owens spoke with the association's president to learn more about what happened. Jacob, what you learn? >> Yeah, Sean. I'm told by the head of the Tucson Police Officers Association that this incident happened Wednesday evening behind me. We're at the Starbucks at Tucson Marketplace. This is near I-10 and South Kino Parkway. He says Wednesday an officer left here with a drawing that would end up ruining her night. >> [laughter] >> This is that drawing. The TPD officer who was in uniform at the time noticed it later in the evening. She believed this was a pig. >> I don't know the intent behind it. I just know the the reaction for that officer and the family and for um the our membership is it's it's very upsetting to have this happen. >> Husman [laughter] tells me upon seeing that image the officer became nauseous and threw out the rest of her drink. This is what Starbucks told me in part Thursday afternoon saying we have reached out to the Tucson Police Department to connect directly on this. Every customer should always be made to feel welcome in our coffee house. As soon as we became aware of the situation we immediately launched an investigation and will take action as needed. Jackie Anderson, a spokesperson with Starbucks, adds that the company believes this may be a misunderstanding. I'm told the employee who drew this could not see the drive-thru where the officer got her drink from. This employee is believed to have been trying to draw a bear for what is known as a bearista. >> Sean, the investigation into this continues tonight. As for Husmann, he tells me if this was intended to be a message, a derogatory message we should add toward law enforcement, he'd be open to sitting down with his employee. At this point, he's stressing communication when it comes to this incident. Reporting live on the south side, >> Oh god. >> News 4 Tucson. >> Even if it was a pig, Oh my god. It's clearly a bear, but even if it was a pig, these pigs are such snowflakes. A drawing on her cup made her nauseous, made her throw her drink out, and ruined her entire day. >> Since I'm not a doctor or a pharmacist, I went to ask the experts how to deal with this extreme butt hurt. >> And do you know where I can find Preparation H? >> Yeah, Preparation H will be around this corner, on the across from the pharmacy door. It's going to be to the left of you. >> Okay. And that's that's good for butt hurt, right? Good for butt hurt? >> Butt hurt. >> Okay. Yeah, I got a female cop. I guess Starbucks drew something on her cup, Tucson police officer, and she said it looked like a pig, and she's really butt hurt about it. So, the Preparation H would be what I need to get for her, is that right? Okay. All right, thank you guys. Prevents further irritation. That could be good, right? I headed to the Tucson Police Department to deliver the remedy. Hey, how are you doing? >> Hi, good. And yourself? >> Good. Uh are you an officer? >> Yes. >> All right. I just wanted to bring a little gift pack, just to let you guys know that we the community support you and we love you. >> Oh, I appreciate it. Thank you. >> Of course. I don't know if you saw um the news recently, a police a Tucson police officer went to Starbucks, and ordered a drink, and they put they they drew what looked like a pig on her drink. Did you see that? >> No. I Now I'm curious, so >> Okay. not. Yeah, they drew so apparently it looked like a pig drawn on her cup and the police to some police association got involved and they're investigating it. But it I guess she was just so disgusted with the pig drawn on the cup that like she got nauseous and and threw out her drink and couldn't even finish it. So, I just wanted to bring a little gift pack to say sorry that that happened. >> Oh, well, we appreciate you even seeing it. >> Yeah, so these are tissues. >> Okay. >> And those are for wiping away her tears and this is Preparation H and that will help with the butt hurt. >> Okay. >> So >> Thank you. >> Yeah, no problem. And just know that that she'll be in our thoughts and prayers and you know, we know everybody struggles, but most people don't struggle with having a pig drawn on their cup. That's that's very difficult. >> [laughter] >> Thank you, ma'am. >> Have a good weekend. >> You, too. >> Bye. >> I found this woman standing outside [music] of the Starbucks. I believe in solidarity with the police officer holding a sign that said, "We all struggle. Some struggle with homelessness, addiction, loss of a loved one, sickness, [music] disease, cancer, but nobody should ever have to struggle with seeing an animal drawn [music] on their cup."
