[Music] good evening I'm Jennifer Lee and I'm Josh Benson thanks for being with us tonight well it was a long Cold Night For one family as they searched for their elderly father the 82-year-old has dementia and wandered away from his assisted living facility on one of the coldest nights if not the coldest night of the year News Channel A's Candace Macau joins us now live in Clearwater with how investigators were able to track that man down Candace yeah good evening Josh we're at the silven Abbey cemetery and it was here this morning where a worker spotted that man he was several feet into the woods he said I I wasn't sure I was going to make it it was a long night for Andrew Taylor his father Bob walked away from his assisted living facility Tuesday evening The 82-year-old Who suffers from dementia was missing on a night when the low was just 45° it was agonizing and as the hours went by and you know you start to to fear for the worst that fear went to Joy when more than 12 hours later a worker at a cemetery spotted Taylor in the woods detective Thomas do was one of the first to get there he was very cold very stiff rescue crews captured what happened next they worked to warm the 82-year-old up taking off their jackets later taking him from the woods to the ambulance to be honest I don't know how much longer um he would have lasted in that condition if Mr uh Johnson wasn't able to find him there missing persons detectives tell us those with Dimension are often the ones they're looking for the vanillas county sheriff's office offers project Lifesaver technology that can help track your loved one down in almost 30 minutes that receiver is almost like a metal detector it sends out a frequency and a signal that signal gets stronger as you get closer to the patient as for Taylor he's uh he's got a sense of humor back so he's trying to figure out what the heck he was he was doing over in the silin cemetery yeah Mr Taylor's family obviously extreme L thankful this evening they say he's in the hospital being treated for hypothermia and that he'll have to be there for several days after his night here in the cemetery Josh oh but glad to hear he's doing he's on the mend at this point Candace is this project Lifesaver is that only offered in pelis you know it's offered in several local counties the best advice is to call your local sheriff's office and see if they offer it there it could cost you but the price varies by counting Josh neat technology though big help all right Candace mcau live for us tonight thanks so much
