So this one day I was sitting around watching my favorite TV show, Always Sunny in Philadelphia. >> AIDS, you touch anybody? [screaming] [laughter] What kind of is that? YOU JUST HUG ME. >> When I received a very urgent phone call. >> She's grieving. >> Hello. >> Hey, Josh just got arrested. >> Josh who? >> Josh. Uh, accountability for all. Oh, where? When? >> I'm not sure. And it was just a little bit ago, >> Dad. >> All right. >> Just want to let you know. >> Okay, I'll check it out. Thank you. >> Okay. No problem. >> All right. Bye. >> Bye. >> Do you want to watch the show? >> Yeah. >> Okay. After receiving this urgent news, I went back to watching my TV show. >> So, she gave you all of our money, huh? I love to love. >> A few days later, I gave Josh a call and he assured me that he was not arrested, but he was attacked by an ICE agent, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, while he was trying to do an open records request. >> Somebody told me he got arrested. >> Yeah, I was just calling to clarify that I didn't. I don't know why people thought that. I mean, the video shows that he got arrested. >> Josh explained to me that he had gone in person to do an open records request because their online system was down and that he had no idea there was going to be a protest there when he happened to go do his records request. I was about I didn't realize there was a huge protest or I wouldn't have went because I don't like hundreds and hundreds of woke people and I hate people in general. But I went I was like, you know, I'm sick and tired of the news saying everything's going on. I don't trust the news and I'm a better journalist than they are. So, I'm just going to go find out what's going on with this whole immigration thing myself. And this Burlington captain got in my face for like 20 minutes. So, as soon as I got to the studio, I jumped on accountability for all's page to see what happened. >> This is part of the security. >> Where's the Where's the sign prohibiting my move? >> Where's the sign prohibiting my move? >> I'm telling you right now, you were trespassed from this area. >> It's It's a public space. How can you trespass me in public? >> So, I need to conduct business here. Guest parking. >> Back up. >> I'm not You can't trespass me from public, buddy. >> This is the security envelope of the building. I'm here to protect the security envelope of the building. Back to back. >> You're here to protect the citizens. >> Do it now. >> I'm not breaking any law. >> Yes, you are. >> I need to conduct business. I need to conduct. >> I'm asking you. I'm telling you. >> So then get me my records request. >> I need Don't put your hands on it. >> I didn't touch back over there. >> I need to I need a records request. Listen. >> So, get me the records request. I'm not here to conversate with you. >> If you have >> It's a policy of the United States government not to conduct business. You can be >> That's what I'm trying to do. >> All right. You're not to be on this part of the property. >> Where's the Where's the visitor entrance then? It's right here. >> Entrance is there. >> That's what I'm trying to do. And you're telling me I can't go there. >> I don't have to listen to you. >> It's not my policy to negotiate with terrorists. >> I'm telling you right now. >> I don't care what you're telling me. I need to do business. Where do I go? I need to do business. Where do I go? If you have business, >> I told you that from from the second I got here. I don't need to explain my records request. I don't care who you're with. >> Do you understand that you're on private property? >> It's public property. >> Captain, this is a taxpayerf funded building. There is no restricted access or restricted personnel. I have a records request that is protected by FOYA and the Massachusetts records law. Are you going to prohibit me from doing my records request? >> You have right now. >> Where do you want me to go? Where's my records request? Where do I go do it? Where's the business entrance? I wish to not Where's the business? >> I'm just going to tell you to back up. >> Then where's the business entrance? I'm asking you where do I go for business? >> Back up. >> Where do I go for business? >> Asking you to back up. >> Where do I go for business? >> I am not with I do not operate with ICE. I am a Bronson. >> Fine. Very simply, I need to get a records request. >> The security envelope of the building. >> Where do I get a records request? Tell me where to get a records request. >> A security request for or a records request. >> I'm doing an open information act. I'm requesting records. It's my federal and state right. All I need to do is have a representative of this building allow me to fill a record. >> Very simple. >> It's not simple. It's not simple. >> It is back. >> No. No. No. >> Then take me to jail, bro. >> I'm asking you to back off. >> I have 250,000 followers. >> You're trying to make yourself look good. How does this look good for you? >> I don't care what you do in your life. I'm getting my records request. >> Then get me my request. I don't have anything to do. >> Then I get to go in a visitor's area. This is open to the public. It is not a limited public forum. >> Do you have business with >> I just told you yes. >> What part of you not understand it? >> Like do they just hand out badges? >> You got post certification. Would you >> I get to go in a visitor center to conduct my business? >> Go in the building and they'll tell you whether you can be there or not. >> That's fine. That's what I was trying to do. You're trying to like pull out on me and flex with me. >> You're part of >> out of here. I'm not part of any group. Do you know me, sir? >> I've not met any of these people. They're exhibiting their right to free protest. If that pisses you off, that's not my problem. Move to North Korea. >> You are unreasonable. >> I'm not unreason. You're trying to tell me I can't exhibit my first amendment rights while he's reading the Constitution and you're telling me that I'm unreasonable. >> How How asinine does that sound? >> Okay, I'm going in to get my records request. You can accompany me if you like. No, I have not. Listen, if you have business >> Okay. Are you done trying to negotiate? >> I'm not negotiating. >> Okay. So, what what else you got to say? >> If you have business, go ahead. >> If you have business, go ahead. >> That's what I'm trying to do. All right. All right. Bye. >> I decide if I have business. How do you want me to enter this building? >> I want you to go over there. >> Yeah. What else do you want to do? Handstands, back flips. Out of here. I'm going >> then mark it off. I'm going to >> have fun. I'm looking to get a records request form. I don't know if you guys have um a formal request form. Not looking to be here for a long time. I'm just looking to fill out a records request form, hand it into an agent in the building, whether that's you or this this DHS police officer, and then I'm on my way. I'm just trying to fill out a records request. >> So, from what I understand is you have to request that online. >> Yeah. So, the problem is you guys are overloaded. As you can see, when you check out your records request system, it's refusing people. I think because of all the protests and everything that records is getting kicked. All I need is a piece of paper, a pen. I can submit my request and I can be on the way. You guys can get back to me in 9 days. >> I'm not looking not looking for smoke. I just want to give a record. >> Go check to see if they have something that you can do. >> Even just a blank piece of paper and they can get back to me and then I'll be on my way. I'm just trying to do a request. Thanks, man. >> They took care of me, man. I'm all set. >> There's no need to be that unreasonable, man. Screaming in people's face. No warrant issue, >> but upon probable cause. >> Hey, man. >> Not too bad. How are you? >> We're going to do this. >> You got to come into the building >> and you got to talk to an agent, but you can't record. >> That's fine. I mean, I'll leave my >> No, you can bring your stuff in, but you just That can be turned on while you're talking. >> So, it's on. It's live. So, what I'll just do is like I'll put it in the corner and hit mute or something. >> Can you just turn it off? >> I can't end the live stream. I mean, I don't even need to go in. I just literally want a form to fill out. >> Yeah, I know. That's what I'm saying. You're going to be able to come in and talk to an agent, but you just can't. >> Yeah, you can pause it or just mute it. We'll leave it off to the side. >> You're allowed to come in, but we'll leave it off to the side. >> You're allowed to come in. >> I don't even need to go in. I just want a record for like I'll even stand in the lobby. No problem. >> What I'm saying is the agent's already waiting >> cuz he's behind the window. So, we already talked to him. So, he's >> Yeah. I'm not going to go into a facility that I'm not aware of without my recording device with me. I'm just trying to get a records request, man. So, if I can do that, great. if you could provide me a piece of paper. I'm not trying to be a hassle for you guys. >> I know. >> I just want to get the form so I can so I can pass it. >> I don't work for ICE. I work for Federal Protective Service, but again, >> Oh, you're FPS. >> Yeah, I'm FPS. >> So, I talked to the agent and he's like, "You're the more than what we can do exactly what you said. You >> go in. It's literally right over here to the left." >> Okay. If if he feels comfortable with me just bringing in my camera so I can document my records request and that's fine. If not, if you guys keep me give me a piece of paper. I'm trying to be I'm trying to be reasonable. I just I don't want to cause a problem. I'm not screaming at you guys, >> which which I 100% respect and I appreciate. So, we'll do this. Instead of having the phone like that while you're up there, just put it in your pocket. You can still have it recording and then you can carry on. >> Okay. All right. No problem. >> Yeah. So, you can still have it documented. >> You know what I mean? >> I'm going to take it off this. Um, you guys feel comfortable with me carrying this? So Josh is about to do his open records request. He's also about to expose something that he didn't didn't realize he was going to expose. The government um creates rules and laws. These rules and laws are for me and you. They're not for them. There are laws saying that they have to accept foyer requests and they even have to fill them within a certain period of time. But he's about to expose some more dirty deeds of the federal government and it's really going to piss him off. Hi. >> Hey. How are you? >> I'm good. How you >> I'm looking to do a records request. Um simple records request for how many people are on staff here out of this field office. >> Okay. >> Um I don't know if you'd like me to submit it. I can't submit it online. You guys are kicking record requests out. I don't know if there's an open sub request. >> That's what I'm looking to do. >> That's what you got to do. You do that online. You don't do that here in person. So I can film. So firstly the they're kicking pull requests out and I don't know if it's because of the protest but there's maybe an abundance of records coming in. >> When you say kicking people out, do you mean physically kicking people out? >> No. No. So I apologize. So online when you attempt to file and then um admit the records request. It's saying that it can't be done at this time. There's like a circle going. Can't be done at this time. Please try again later. I've been doing that for hours. Simply protected by the Freedom of Information Act. I can fill out something in person and give it to you. No, >> but we don't do that here. >> We don't do that here. So, it has to be online. Unfortunately, I understand that it's kind of circling around and kicking you out, but uh that's how we do the foyer request process. >> But if you are a public installation, so according to foil law section 2B, I'm allowed to turn it into any public facing office. We're just here now. I understand you will be accepting your referral request here. You have to do it all. >> You're more than welcome to refuse it. So, I'm going to give you a verbal request that I would just like the names and salaries of all the agents working facility. So on video you're denying my request. Fair enough. >> Are you videoing this? >> Yes, I am. >> Okay. >> So, first he admits that he knows the online system is down and you cannot make open records requests online. Then he refuses to take Josh's open records request right there in person. Then when Josh says, "Okay, great. So you're refusing on camera to take an open records request." The guy loses it. So now his response is to physically attack Josh because Josh just recorded him breaking the law and turn off his live stream. >> What's up? Are you videoing this? >> Yes, I am. Yeah. Don't Don't touch my camera. Don't let go, sir. Okay. I told you you don't Am I detained? >> Am I detained? Am I detained? Give me my [ __ ] back. Am I detained? Give me my phone. Am I detained? >> Sit down. >> I'm not detained. You're detained. Am I detained? >> You're detained. Sit down, officer. Am I detained? For what reason? Give me my phone back. You can't film. >> He gave me permission to film in here. I'm not I'm not detained. I'm not sitting. >> Am I free to go? No. >> What crime do you suspect me of committing? What crime do you suspect need? >> I'll talk to this general. Okay. So, did you turn the camera on when you came in here? >> I notified him of my activity. This is assault. >> I'm good, man. He's Don't Don't touch Sir. He's trying to touch my phone. Sir, he's touching my phone. >> Calm down. >> He's trying to delete my phone. >> He took my property. I'm not detained. >> Stop. >> So, that's where somebody got the idea that Josh was arrested. He was live streaming. They heard the guy yelling at him and then his live stream cut off. So he had another device recording. He negotiates with the terrorists. They say, "Hey, you know what? Here's the deal, man. We'll give all your stuff back. We'll let you go. Just promise not to publish his face because for his safety." And Josh says, "Yeah, of course. [laughter] Of course I'll I'll not publish his face." And as soon as he walks out the door, he grabs his camera. He holds it up. That's your face. That's your face. For Josh, it was never about being on one side of a political debate or another. Whether you agree with what ICE is doing or whether you disagree with it, it really wasn't about that for him. Whether you agree or disagree with anything that ICE is or isn't doing with immigration, it's perfectly clear that they definitely refuse to obey the law with something as simple as a public records request. Not only that, but they're willing to violently attack people when somebody records them breaking the law. And I'll tell you until I'm blue in the face, this is true of every government agency and entity out there. This is why you should always record every interaction with your government. Everything was going [music] just fine here until all of a sudden, in a split second, [music] it wasn't and Josh was being violently attacked. I know that this may come as an absolute surprise to a lot of people out there, but government isn't always honest. >> [music] >> Therefore, if you don't have your own recording of what actually happened, it's going to be your word against the government. And the fact is that most of your peers trust their government.
