connected with the shooting of Charles McCormick in early 2020 Dominique Barnard who came entangled in multiple crimes on January 15th Barner along with another man was arrested during an armed home invasion during the investigation it was discovered that Barner was also involved in a nearby shooting that resulted in the death of Charles McCormick this wasn't the first time Barner had been involved in a murder in 2019 bicyclist Damon rothermel 50 was shot by a stray slug during a shootout between two cars during this interview Barner is confronted with audio evidence that has recorded him speaking about McCormick's death foreign I'm pretty sure I almost see information right but you are Dominique Gerard Barner uh 1031.93 all right I do have to ask you like five questions um keep your word present I'm just well y'all just told me y'all don't know nothing about the state being involved so so are you willing to speak with us without your attorney present is what he needs to know he said I can answer questions okay so are you okay with that yeah I'm okay with answering a little bit of questions into okay I feel like just uh yeah okay foreign one thing at a time I'll show you something that nobody knows in a second there we go foreign ER is reluctant to talk but says he will answer some questions there's some confusion as to what his lawyer meant but they have asked him assigned you you want to go to J1 and at that point I can't talk to you does that make sense so once again it's your choice completely up to you you want to talk to that lawyer because I mean you say you want another day but you've had since about January think about all this will reach out to you no to think about all this because I know it's probably been I'll wait on you a little bit so what like I said it's completely to you but I have to know now do you want to talk to a lawyer you want to continue or you don't want to talk the questioning is barely underway before Barner changes his mind and backs out of asking questions the recordings seem to make him uneasy some of his statements hint that he might be willing to speak in exchange for a deal but the detectives don't have the power to make that promise and it is in his best interest to wait for his lawyer before committing I'm sorry I don't think to myself because I know a PD number foreign hey Dominique I know he already told you that you are being arrested for murder today okay what we're going to do is we're going to step out of this room we're gonna let you think yeah um y'all can just take me back over there if murder and is in jail awaiting his trial which is set for December 15th
