Okay guys, we are back with another fraud case from Cos Bank in Orlando. On August 7th, 2024, officers from the Orlando Police Department responded to a bank fraud in progress. What you're about to see is what happened next. Delta 20 alpha. Nice. I don't call it 215. So you want to speak to the young man here? I mean, I understand that it's just the company had been seeing a lot of fraud checks going on. So, because of it, they wanted me to report it. So, I had to get the police involved on the check. I'm so sorry. Um, she came in with a check uh today, trying to negotiate it, but the check is fraud according to the company that we spoke to. So, they've been seeing a lot of those checks that are not been legitimate. Um, so we just have to report by mail. We have to report it whenever the customer comes in with a fraudulent check. All right. Is there somewhere we could talk or Yeah. Come take the I'm okay with that. What's that? Of just letting me keep it because it's not mine. He said it to me, but Thank you. Sorry. You have your ID on your mail? I do. I don't. I just explained to her I don't cash that came to me by my mailing address. It was a company that I used to work for during the like before the pandemic hit. So, you know, by me coming here, I even called them directly. no call. I even reached out to the bank myself, you know, and I even said, "Hey, this was sent to me by my mailing address. I don't need to cash a fake check. I have a legitimate job." Okay, get ready. So, I'm just saying like I don't need anything on my record cuz I ain't never been to jail for no fraud, nothing. So that's one thing for sure is like I never been to a jail for fraud. I never did fraud, you know, and that check came to me by mail. Uh they said that she came in tried to use the or I didn't try to cash the check. I asked them to verify it before I deposited in my own account because I have my own bank. I don't come to this bank. So even then, that's like the second check I got by mail. The first one I just tossed it because it was like, you know, hey, I don't But if you look at the back, there's no watermarks and so, you know, I don't deal with checks anymore. I usually get everything strictly deposit. So that's why I'm like curious like, "Hey, I even called them before I came here and say, hey, can you guys verify this over the phone?" She said, "No, you still have the letter, the mail." It was no letter. It just came in an envelope for the envelope. And no, I don't have the envelope. Sorry, I kind of tossed it. It came in an envelope with my mailing address. Okay. And like that's kind of Okay. It took Did she try to cash it or cash? She came here to try to cash it. Okay. She's saying she just came in here to try to verify its validity. No, she asked to verify the check. I asked she spoke to her. She told her that she'll verify it and what's her intentions to do with the check. She was she wanted to cash it with us. I we asked her where the you know the check if I was mistaken. She said that she'd been waiting for it. She's coated on her and then magically just owed her a $9,000 check. Yeah. So, she came in to cash a check and then go from there. So, I feel bad, but we have to report it to you guys. That's the That's the ID. Is there a watermark or is it just It looked really fake. The ID because it has it looked like it had a like this little part right here. It says FL. I've never seen that before. Yeah. And then it looks like there's a it was like a sticker on the actual card. Yeah. I'm gonna we'll run the ID here in a second. I just want to see what she said. I never seen that. Based on that loss prevention thing, we have to call you guys. So, see, I don't know. How do I do? Oh, it should be a zoom in thing. Open your PDF. Oh, right here. Yeah. Mark zoom. There you go. So, right there. I don't know if that's I don't think I don't I could be wrong, but I don't think Yeah. You have it on yours. Okay. It just Yeah, you have it. Yeah, it's in here. But it look like whatever. Okay. I mean, it sort of looks like there's tape all the way around it by your license. Yeah. We just found that weird, but she did come with intentions to cash it, which is 100%. She was waiting for me to confirm it and then for me to cash it for her. Okay. Obviously, when we called this is according to the company, this is not the first check they see fraud. So, it's been going around. So, that's right. Right away, I reached out to my loss prevention team, which is the fraud department, and they told me to call cops. They're already aware of the company. So, they call cops. Okay. So, did you guys call that company at all? Yes, I did. I spoke to Anna, who's the office manager, and that company. Did she verify that? She said the check is fine. Okay. Would you mind writing all that down? Okay. I think I still have the envelope in my left apartment. One patrol downtown. So I mean What is my next step of filing a complaint against the company that sent me? We'll get we'll get there in a sec. Where did the other officer go? He went outside. Okay. So, did she try to cash it or what? Yeah, she she said cuz I said, "Oh, what are you looking to do with the check today?" Right. And she said to cash it. She wanted us to verify. It was It was a bunch of combination things. So, she wanted to verify it, make sure it was real. She said it's odd. She said she used to work for that company. The pandemic happened and they disappeared is what she said, right? And they only went to these fitting match and she's like, well, you know, this person, so does this look like a legitimate check to you? And how does what is it about this? So the free as soon as I saw it. Yeah. Hold on. You can show them my actual check when I come. Yeah. So the the waist thing. So first of all, you can see how that's a lot lighter. Yep. This is like tight. Yep. We don't our checks are not like that. That looks the payment approved. I've never seen that for the memo. Usually signature too. The signature is not faded. And what about the heat that that they getting? Listen, these guys are got good to the point where they put those things in there because before when I when I first started 15 years ago, that was like the legit is official, right? But now Yeah. When I looked at it, the first thing that cuz I checked this, but it does I mean it does change with the like Yeah. the font, the different coloring. This looks like they just taped it in there. And if you show pull up the account on IBS and you can show them the account, one of the checks. Yeah. Yeah. So, she said she would she she sat with her more often than I did. So, you you guys want me to write the statement or both for us? If you dealt more with her Yeah. So, you let me make a statement. Can you get another statement, please? They're in there with They even have female. They even have a logo. Yeah, they have a logo on their They have a logo on their checks. this. And they have a a system called positive pay. So whenever a check is sent to be paid, let's say they issue you a check, there's a system that will pull your name, check number, amount. So whenever they come into the bank, you're able to see that they approved it. Mhm. That was nowhere there. It was It was nowhere. Even the check number is way off. Yeah. Check numbers. Yeah. That was the last check there, right? And this one is 1260. Come to the bank where the check is issued to. They have to verify it. That's why I didn't go to my own bank because I didn't want to deposit and then have fraud hit on my own account. I was like, "Let me call this bank and see if they can verify it for me." You know, like I don't do this whole, you know, check stuff. I know when I do this up. When did you get this? My license? Yeah. 2019. Oh, weird. Did you get two? You have two? Nope. Just one. I did it online. Yeah. So, I have my own one. I told you, but I did it online. I order my license online cuz I kind of thought lost porn for Halloween nights. Yeah. But well, if you're driving around, you get caught with two. No, no, no. The other one I I have it at the house. Like you get caught with two cuz you have two that are valid. The other one's not valid though. You just you have a new one that's after this one. I'm just letting you know. you get called too, it's a crime because I haven't worked with this company since co and I was like really? So she's like they just mailed me this check and I was like okay. So she said they co happened and they disappeared. So all of that was like a lot of red flags, right? Sure. Um she then said that and then I was asking them questions. I'm like did this amount match what they owed you? just questions like that and she's like, "Well, you know, I made about this much. I didn't really think about to add it up and stuff like that cuz that's a lot of money." Yeah. And um so her story was just not really making sense and the company's down in Hoben Sound. Maybe they have a location here. I don't know. But it just didn't make sense. I was like, I don't think a company would take that long to pay Yeah. their people. So, she handed you the the check and then you immediately Well, as soon as I saw it, it was blaring that it was like right. So, I just told her, "Hold on a second. I'll verify the check." And then I went to um to George to my manager. Okay. Your resume so we can talk. I'm not being law enforcement. If we have a question about a crime, I have to reject you right. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? Yes. And you say used against you in court. Do you understand? Yes, sir. You have the right to talk to a lawyer before and during questions. Do you understand? Yes. If you cannot afford a lawyer and want to be provided for you before question charge, do you understand? Yes. Right. Where did you No, no, no. Where this check came from? what it says on the paper. It was at It was on sale Lake and it was what? How long did you like a couple years ago? But how long did you work there? A year before the pandemic. So I worked at places for just a few months and I still remember where I worked. No, I mean that I worked but I'm saying like it was late it was call center. the call center job for um OU, CVS, and who was the the gas company. They all was in one building. What gas company? A gas company in up north. I don't remember the name of the gas company, but I know it was like three call centers in one building. We answer the phones. That was it. You gave me the check. It was melty. It was melty with no other paperwork. Correct. No other paperwork. So, I don't remember. There was nothing with that. Just the check. Like I said, in my car, it's literally right there. Who was your direct supervisor? My supervisor was Michael. Michael what? Well, I had two of them. One was Michael Cole and then the other one was um I don't remember the other Michael's name, but one was a supervisor and the other one was a manager. I don't remember the manager's last name cuz I didn't stick around long enough to Well, I said I didn't stick around long enough, but you only meet the ones you kind of associate with. So if you had an issue with something Michael Cole Michael Cole cope cope I would go ahead and he was a manager supervisor. Yes. So, that's the number on the text app now cuz we used that's what they was using unless I left it in my text now. I'm not texting out WhatsApp WhatsApp number. Mhm. Do you have texts with that person? Not no more. I just have them when I try to call it. Do you have no text? Who text? No. This text that I text is is like my actual phone number. Can I see? This is the my text now. Not text now. My text messages. And here's Well, that's my cousin. But still, um, we're known to bank. That's my cousin. This one is my cousin. The bank. They're going to wire me money to my bank. Is that something totally different? Totally different. So, where's the What's this one? See, that's the number. And these are all the messages here. This is with the M. But I'm not going to lie, I do. We're in a relationship. Well, was in a relationship. So, it's a little bit, you know, when he did call me babe, whatever. What was the most recent contact you've had with him today? Cuz I just texted him. I was like, "Hey, like, and you didn't think to ask him about a check from the company you used to work at?" He said that he said that they were supposed to send everybody a check, but he doesn't work with them no more either. So, that's why I pursued a relationship. I'm not even going to lie. I have nothing to do with any fraud. I'm 100% telling the truth. I have a question. Can I go in my car and you can see the envelope? No. Okay. It's just a blank, right? No, it um it came in a file thingy or not a file, but you're in a relationship with Michael. Mhm. We no longer work for the company. So that's between you know the company, not us. It's not illegal. He asked me as well. You said it came with a file. Not a file. It came in an envelope. Like I can literally one of you guys can walk me to the car and I can literally show you. Like they literally I have nothing to hide. And then I just text was like, "How did the company send a fake check?" And he's like, he thought we cashed it weeks ago. And I was like, "I didn't cuz I didn't have time. I was working." But as of a couple of weeks ago, we stopped talking. We decided to go our separate ways cuz I was too busy. Yes. Like I'm literally telling you the 100% truth. Like I have nothing to do with any fraud stuff. None of that. Huh? What's your name? My name Ashley. But as of like two weeks ago, me and him literally stopped talking, stopped communicating. I mean, I really I don't have anything to do with fraud. 100%. Like, I'm telling you the honest truth. I just came here and I asked them to verify me cuz I was like literally not with my bank and [Music] And I text him today and I said, "Hey, they said that the check is fake." Then I was like, "How did you I was about to tell him like, "Hey, you got to text me, you know, the checks and stuff like that." as of today. Like you see today's text message, I said, "Hey, they sent a check that's fake cuz he got one too." And other companies like I told you other employees, they got one. So I'm letting him know like, "Hey, you know, don't go through the same thing that I'm going through now." So I'm literally telling the truth 100%. I I literally have nothing to hide. I I never been in this predicament before. Italy. All right, Ash. You want to have a seat? My name is Carlos. Nice to meet you. What's your last name? Rose. Rose. Yes. Have a seat. Sit down. Relax. This is even more stressful because I don't even have to deal with the law that they read your rights already. Okay. You ever had your rights read to you before or is it the first time? This is the first time. That's I said I never been arrested. I never had anything to do with no type of fraud stuff. I Okay. Like this never. So what happened today? I know you it seems like you probably already detailed it that I am, but just so you can catch me up on game so I know what's going on. Last month I got a check by mail from the company that I used to work for um last month. Yeah. Okay. What was the name of the company? It was um I don't even remember the name. I just know it was a call center, but they had closed down right when the pandemic hit and we was working from home, but then been kind of completely not going to say destroy. Okay. But how long did you work there? A year. A year. 6 months to a year before the pandemic came around. Okay. So, and you don't remember the name of the company? No, not a year. I'm sorry. It's just I I worked so many jobs after that just trying to stay up with bills and everything. Um but you got direct deposit from them or did you get paid by check from them? From them I got direct deposit. That was like a long time ago with an old bank like Okay. So you don't bank with that bank? I don't bank with Chase no more. Okay. So when you work for them, you bank with Chase? Yes. Yes. You had direct deposit from them via Chase? Yes. Okay. Um then after I left from that job, I went and started working. I didn't go to McDonald's right away. Mhm. I applied for McDonald's, but they said I don't have the qualification skills. So I went Really? Wow. Okay. So I went to SeaWorld, got hired at SeaWorld Universal. And um So who you thanking now? Additional finance. Okay. So from Chase you went to additional finance or no I went to like a different bank after I went to one. Why you keep moving banks? Cuz like I had Chase Bank since I was in high school. I mean it was like you know Well, first I started with Bank America and then you know they start talking about how Bank America is scamming people and stuff and that's why I moved to Train City. Okay. But I went to um you know other different banks for a while. You've been bank with a whole bunch of different people. Yes. You worked for this company for a year. It was a call center type job. You don't remember the name? I want to say even but that's probably the one that's like international. And then my understanding is the check that you came to cash today was from this employee that you used to work at that you don't remember the name. No, I don't. I mean, yes, but Mhm. I've worked at several jobs. I'm not a type of person to scam anybody. Like, I ain't never listen. I don't think you're the type of person that's going to scam anybody. But I have had co-workers hit me up on Facebook. And they was like, "Hey, do you remember the company we used to work for?" Like was like, "Girl, I don't remember half the places I worked." I was like, "Well, sure. What about it?" And they were like, "Oh, well, they sent me a check for $7,000." I was like, "Oh, okay. That's kudos for you." I mean, I don't really need it cuz I'm making ends meet with the two little jobs that I got, even though it's still a little struggle. Mhm. That I might have to pick up a third job when summer starts. I mean, summer ends. But other than that, like, you know, I just been, you know, working, making it work, living from paycheck to paycheck, basically. Okay. You know, that way you work for a company that's on a check that you don't remember the name. Um, who was the manager there? Who was your supervisor? Michael Cole. My supervisor was Michael. Michael Cole. Okay. And did you work directly for that company? Yes. Cuz it was a call center that we did gas, we did um CVSarmacist and we also did Walgreens pharmacist and lights. I say call center. What was it like customer service? Like like so we answered the phones when people called any of any of these businesses pretty much. So they were calling, you know, OU light or whatever. They would contact you guys and what would you do for them? We would just basically be like, "Hey, we're here to pay a bill. We're not here, but we're calling to pay a bill, spend the light bills, things like that." Or even with the gas company. What' you do with them? The gas people. I was I had to keep calling the manager cuz I'm not used to gas. Like you people was like, "How do I reset the gas? What am I the yellow or the red?" And I was like, "Let me put you on hold and I will ask, you know, a manager, a supervisor or somebody, one of my team members that was next to me was like, hey, do you have like a guideline book I can tell the customer how to reset their gas?" Mhm. And stuff like that. Was this at a location? It Yes. The building is literally on Sand Lake. Okay. And like those little Well, I don't know if it's still there. We're at on lake. most warehouses on Sand Lake. There's a bunch of warehouses on Sand Lake. I'm trying to think of like the street that you turn on. Presidents. I think that might be the street. No, no, no. President is by John Young. It's closer to John, but like Sand Lake and Oh my god. I want to see OB, but it's not the other. Right there on Sand Lake. There's a Dennis, there's a Awa. Mhm. And there's a sound like an orange. There's a gas station, a Waw Wa, a Denny's, a McDonald's. Yes. And station. Yes. Right there. If we literally cross over the railroad track from coming from the McDonald's. You cross over the railroad tracks. On the left hand side, there's like some wooded area back there. Mhm. That was where the call center was. Okay. All right. And then your manager was who? Michael. What was Mike? Michael. What's his last name? Co. Okay. Me. After I left the company, I'm not gonna, you know, sugarcoat anything. I had a relationship with him up to like 2 weeks ago. Okay. But that was just like years after we both left the company. It was nothing like you in a relationship. You in a relationship with anybody now? No. Single? Just single. You got kids? Two kids? Yeah. How old are they? Seven and eight. Seven and eight. Where they at right now? My um friend's house and I'm going to go get them from her house cuz they was playing with her kids. Okay. Uh you dropped Well, you were you over there? You dropped them off and then came here or No, I think we alternate. She's a single parent. I'm a single parent. So, we kind of hand in hand best friends. It's just one weekend she'll babysit. One weekend I'll babysit just to give us some free time. And where you living right now? I'm moving from the address that's on my license. I'm in the process of moving. Where are you going? To an apartment. Okay. In Orlando? Yeah. Okay. You're from Orlando. Born and raised. Okay. I mean, I wish I wasn't, but why not? Cuz Orlando is just I was born and raised in Orlando. Watch what you say next. No, it's just now I feel like it's just dumb, you know? It's not Have you ever been anywhere else? Atlanta. where my mom is from. Um, I went to New York. Mhm. But that's about it. I never been here. Since I've been here, I've never been to jail. I had, you know, runins with the cops. Okay. So, I think that's kind of where like I want I've been moved to Atlanta because a lot of that activity is going on there with Okay. family. Um, so let's talk about the check. What's the deal with the check? You said you got it in the mail. I got it in the mail just like everybody else that reached out to me on social media. Well, one girl called me through social media and she was like um just bragging about the check pretty much. She I guess she didn't have my direct phone number. So she called me through social media and she was like, "Hey, remember the company we saw?" I was like, "Girl, I don't remember half the things I did before the pandemic or even during the pandemic." And she was like, "Um, well, the company, they sent us they sent me a check." And I'm like, "Okay." I was like, "For what?" And she was like, "Remember when we worked and had shut down?" Mhm. All of this, that, and third. I was like, "Oh." I was like, "Okay." I was like, "Well, was it worth, you know?" I was like, she was like, "The check was $7,800." And I was like, I was like, "Okay." I was like, you know, like, "Hey, good for you." type vibe. Mhm. That's what I was kind of telling her. And then she was like, "Um," she was like, "Yeah." What friend is that? Jessica. Jessica. You got her the phone number. No. No. What's her last name? I don't even know her last name. I'm not even going to lie. You got on social media? Can you pull it up on your social media? But to be honest, I think she blocked me cuz I think she thought I felt jealous. No, it's I don't I don't know cuz I might have to go back to try to call her and when I got mine, I couldn't find her. But how long after she had got hers did you get yours? 3 weeks later. 3 weeks later. So she got one I want to say when you were when you worked for this company, did they owe you any money? We were supposed to get paid one more check or at least No, between one to two more checks. One to two more checks because we did work from home. Mhm. Um when they shut the office and stuff down because How much did you get paid when you were there? 15 $15 an hour. $15 an hour. You work 40 hours a week. And then we got paid every 2 weeks. Every two weeks. So about roughly How much was that? Sometimes my checks would be at 9:00. Then sometimes my checks will be roughly about8 100. Okay. And then sometimes my check will be like $9.90. Okay. So it's fair to say if you were owed two months two months worth of money at 1,800 bucks a month on the high end. Yeah. Without still at 3,600 bucks if you were owed money. Yes. It's probably not going to be 9,000. That's exactly what I say when I'm trying my calculations. Yeah. That don't add up. It didn't add up. So, I was like, "Okay, let me let me see here." Like, um, did you call the company? I tried. It was the number I had tried to call is no longer service. When did you try to call them? 4 days after I got the check. Okay. And which was when? A month ago. And then after that, I just been busy moving and working my jobs and trying to just stay afloat. I kind of was like, well, you know, even with friends of mine, so I'm not going to say friends, let's just say. So, you been trying to stay afloat, basically. Been working, hustling, and you got this $9,000 check a month ago. But yeah, you don't you don't think let me go cash this check to help me out? You know, I I've been doing it, you know, now like, you know what I mean? Mhm. On my own with the kind of kind of know what you mean. Just stretching out my paychecks, you know, from here and there. This is me as a reasonable person. If I'm owed some money and I'm stretching my paychecks out, living paycheck to paycheck, right? It's a reasonable person here now and I get a check that's owed to me for $9,000, I'm cashing that baby right away. Right. Right. But I mean I I didn't think nothing of it cuz I was kind of skeptical about cashing checks anyways. So I was like no. And then I you know I talked to my family members and you know um family members and other associates that got theirs. I was like did that check was like legit? And they was like yeah and some never responded. Mhm. So, you skeptical about the check? I just kind of just pushed it to the side cuz I had a lot going Why were you skeptical about the check? Because Was it the way that it looked? Yeah. Where's the check at? It was the way it looked and it was just like What? What about if I was skeptical of looking at it? What look what look weird about it? For one, a truck is never this big. Okay. I'm just, you know, being straightforward. It's never this big. I've seen a couple checks that big before. Um the little gold stamp thing. I never seen a check with a gold stamp or a silver stamp or something. And it was just on the back. What about the back? You can usually it'll say no copy. Okay. On some checks like I have gotten work checks and it says no copies, you know. Mhm. And then it will have um routing numbers total look a little bit legit. Mhm. But routing numbers look a little bit legit. Yeah. Yeah. But it was just for me it was like uh I just folded it up like this and just let's look at it real quick. And I just literally put it in my wallet and I'm kind of just like Did the fonts throw you off a little bit? Yeah. And then it spelled wrong. Your name is spelled wrong. It's missing a letter. Okay. Which letter is missing? My last name. What is it? Which supposed to be? Oh, never mind. Thought it was wrong. But anyways, that's the mailing address. So, usually I never got a check with my address. That's the address that you that you live at. No, used to. Okay. But so you used to live at this address. Yeah. Okay. That's what's on my license. I'm not even going to lie. I haven't got a chance. But you move as of when? last year in October. My grandma still stays in the address. Okay. So, my grandma still So, so your grandma received this check in the mail. No, I received it. But I mean, I don't live at the address no more. I haven't had, you know, so you don't live there anymore, but it was still delivered to that address. Yes. But my grandma lives Your grandma would have been the one to receive this check since you're not there. Yeah. But she didn't sign for anything. We still get mail there. me and my siblings, you know, because our names is um on the let's say the mailbox. Okay. So, looking at this check, right, using everything that you pointed out to me, right, it's probably fair to say this is a fake check. Yes. Yeah. Right. And that's why I didn't that's why I didn't bother to go to my bank. I came directly to this bank and say, "Hey, can you guys verify you guys' check?" Mhm. And let me know like, hey, if it's legit, whatever, whatever, and go from there. Okay. Um, all right. I appreciate you for talking with me, but now I have a couple questions for you, okay? And this is where I just want you to be truthful with me at this point. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Cuz you ain't been 100% with me. No, you have. And that's okay cuz I I got a quick memory. It happened. It's gone. I ain't worried about it anymore. Okay. But I am worried about you at this point cuz someone got you in here cashing a check that you know it's fake. Okay. Hold on. Talk about talking about listen. I know it was fake when I looked at it by the mail and that's why I kind of was like I brushed it off. I was going to shred it myself but like I said Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. other co-workers and friends and family. Look, they saw it like family. Oh, yeah. It's a legit check. Cash it. You know, I got my money type. Whatever. But but you you and I both look at this check and you just told me that it was fake pretty much. Yes. All right. So, that's the reason why I do. So, so hold on now. Hold on now. I'm just going to everything that you told me in the conversation so far. I'm going to tell it back to you and you going to tell me how this makes sense, right? Okay. You say you work at a call center, right? This should be a call center check, but you don't even know the name. Okay. I don't remember the name. This check is from Dunworth's Construction and Development, Inc. That's not a call sign. Okay. For one. All right. Even if you did work at this company, okay, I call the company. We talked to the company. Okay. They don't know you and they don't know no Michael Cole. All right. Not true. They do know a Michael Cole. Listen, listen. Listen, Ashley. Listen, listen. Okay. That's not true. Okay. All right. So, I'm going to let you look at this check. I'm going to let you think about everything that you just told me. All right. I'm going to give you a second and I just want you to tell me the truth about the check. It is the truth. I'm being serious. Now, listen, listen, listen to me. If you just want to stick to that story, that's fine. It's I have the police department. Listen, listen, listen real quick. If you don't want to stick to that story, that's fine. That's 100% fine with me cuz I already But Hold on. I already listened. I already talked to the company. Okay. They don't know you or Michael Cole. All right. So, that's a lie. B. You just told me you knew the check was fake. Yeah. You in here trying to cash it. No, I wasn't trying to cash it. Okay. I came in here to ask him to verify it because hey, I I spoke to the teller and he said you came in here to try to cash a check. No, I didn't. I told her I said I was really skeptical about this check that I got in the mail from a company that you just pointed out to me multiple different reasons and multiple different things about the check that you knew was fake. Why even come in here and waste your time and do that? Because like I said because of other employees that I used to work with. Okay, that was the only reason why other look at this check. Process process the truth. That is the truth. I'm going to step back a little bit. Honestly, that is the truth. I'mma wait for you to tell me the truth. That is the truth. S I'm not even going to lie to you. Like I never been in trouble before with anything. I didn't just come here and say, "Hey, I want to cash this check." I came here. I said, "Can you please let me know if this is a legit check?" I was like, "I don't deal with checks." And that's exactly what I told the young lady in there. You don't deal with checks, but you just explained to me how that check was fake in like five different ways because I've seen how checks look. Like, I know I've worked. Ashley, I don't know who you trying to cover up for, but this is not going to Listen, this is not going to go well for you. You are a person with no criminal history with children who are waiting on you. Okay. Think about you and think about your family right now. Don't think about anybody else who got you in here trying to cash this check. Nobody got me anything. Think about yourself and your family right now. Okay. Give yourself some time to think about that and tell me what I really want to know. I don't care that you're in that. Listen, hold on. I don't care that you in here trying to cash this check. What you did was wrong. Yes, we all know that. Okay. I'm trying to figure out who's the one making these checks that got you in here trying to cash it. This company. The fact that you in here trying to cash a fake check that already came and went, right? But think about your think about your family right now. Slow yourself down. I'mma step outside. We're going to step outside. I'm telling you. Okay. and I'm gonna give you some time. I'm gonna sort some things out out here and I'm gonna come back in. We're gonna try this again. This is the honest truth. Honestly, you can give me a Bible and I can tell you this is the honest truth. Nobody sent me in here. Okay, I'll give you a little bit and I'll be back. the company that Who are you talking to? Michael, I say, "Hey, I said they said that." He said, "Did you cast a check?" I said, "No, cuz he asked me if I cast the check." When I did, I said no cuz I was so busy working. Whatever. What number is this? That's the WhatsApp number. That's how I communicate with him. Is this the person who works with the company? Well, you the person who sent you to check. Yes, we both used to work with the company. Okay. And he got the same check that I got. I was like, and I just told him I see. And I just told you we was in a relationship up to two weeks ago, but it was getting difficult trying to a long relationship cuz clearly at the bottom of it, you can see when he said, "I'll send a check for your expenses." What does this person have to do? Tell me the one. This is Michael. Michael, he refused to work with the company together. Not that company, but the call center. And he was telling me that he'll help me pay for my expenses because I was telling him that I was having little problems, you know, minor work need on my field. And he was like, "Okay, no worry. I got you. I'll send you a check right now. You can cash it." And then like as of today, you can clearly see right here, like right here where I had told him, I was like, "Hey, the check that you sent me at the bottom." I was like, when I told him here, I was like, "Hey, the check that you got, the check that you got and you said I don't see what you're saying. No, you're saying something that's not on the phone." No, no. Here. When I texted him, I was like, "Hey, I'm going to go today to catch a check." Where is that? I don't see that anymore. You're telling me something. I saw the phone. No, I texted him Monday. I was like, "Hey, he never responded. He never responded." Then I got a phone call on Monday night. So, hi. I'm catching the check that you sent me that you're saying you got a month ago by this company. Now, it's from this Michael guy. Used to work for the company. He doesn't work at the company cuz I already talked to the company. He finally have a day off. Hi. What the hell? The check is not real. Hi. What do you mean? Well, you knew the check wasn't real cuz you explained it to me, which is why you've been holding on to it for a month. Yeah. Okay. I just You said you passed it before, so I boarded the check. Okay. And I said no because and that's the honest truth. I don't have nothing to lie about. Like I really want to go get my kids because like now I'm to the point that I only really deal with this. Okay. And this number is like an overseas. That's the reason why we haven't literally stopped. We really like you know. Have you ever seen this person in our life? Yes. We used to work together. How do you know it's the same person? Because he knows my kid's name. He called months ago for one of my kids birthday. Okay. And once you cash this check, what are we supposed to do with the funds? It was supposed to take care my expenses. Expenses for what? Whenever I need around the house or my my car needed to be repaired, but I got that done. So I'm really telling the truth. I have nothing to do with you. So this guy gave you a check to cover your expenses that you don't even know who this is. It can be anybody's anybody's work together. Okay. All right. I don't have time for I'll come. I just want to my kids cuz right now I'm so annoyed. Well, unfortunately, you're not going to go wrong to your kids right now. Why? Okay. Because you just try to catch a picture. I didn't try to catch anything. I came here. I asked her to verify. And then you told me to check in from this company. Yes. Now you're telling me to text from this guy that has some overseas phone number that you're saying is Michael that you've never seen this person. I have seen him before. We used to work. How do you know that's Michael that's texting you on WhatsApp? Because he said he couldn't use his phone cuz he's overseas and then after that that's literally the reason why. I'm telling you the truth honestly the truth. Like telling the truth from the beginning. So in the beginning we have had a relationship. Okay. Like you couldn't see a relationship over text? No, we was really in a relationship like you guys would see each other in real life. Yes. Okay. Then he moved, you know, over there where he's at now. Where is that? In Connecticut. Overseas. Okay. Overseas in Connecticut. That's where he's sailing to Connecticut. In Connecticut. Overseas. Okay. Overseas in Connecticut. That's what he said to collect it. Okay. Um, personally, I thought, okay, we could try and make this work. And I thought I was like, I want to do a long How long have you guys been trying this long distance relationship thing? A good little minute. Okay. A good long minute is what, a week, a month? Okay. You know, it's after a while when you don't hear the person's voice every day, you know, you just be like, "Oh, I feel like they're cheating." Or, "Oh, I feel like they're doing this." Have you talked to this guy on the phone? Yes. Call on the phone. Can I talk to him? Oh, absolutely. [Music] Hello. Hello. question. For my expenses, such a check. They say there is not a legit check at the bank. What? They say there is not a legit check at the bank. I see. No. What I'm saying is this. Oh, he Oh my gosh. Where is Michael? He asked if I'm still here. I said yes. Where is he from? England. He has an accent. An Indian accent. What was that? He said, "You're in the bank." I'm like, "Yes." So that's why I said he sent me the check. He said he said, "I'm going to send you a check to pay for your expenses." Okay. But the check for I waited until I had a day off to say, "Hey, I came to the bank and I said, "Hey guys, I got a check in the mail. It felt a little awkward for me to go to my bank to the deposit. I know it took a long time to process and whatever where the issue may be and stuff and I was like, you know, can you guys verify this? Okay. Tell him tell him call me and then tell him the police don't believe that story when he calls. I'm honestly telling the truth. I think whoever this person is has sent you on a mission to try and cash this fake check. Nobody sent me on a mission to do anything else. I'm telling you the truth like 100%. I never been in jail. And that's okay because unfortunately I'm telling you like honestly you're going to go to jail today. But I can't. That's the thing. I'm not I never been in jail. You're going to have to go to jail today. Please don't let me go. Like I'm I'm I'm begging you guys because like I never had anything to do with a fake check. I'm telling you like 100%. Honestly, like really I'm I'm really feeling you guys. Like I'm I'm serious. You follow me? Just raise your hand right now. Wait one second. Please. This is real quick. I just want to sort him just so that we can say what you told me is true and then you can guard him if you want to guard him. But I really don't want to go to jail. Like that's what I've never been to jail for. I'm like, "No, in all honesty, I'm I'm telling you the truth." Like, "This is the person who said I'm in, you know, a relationship with." And they never said that it was going to help me with my bills and I have literally nothing to do with any scam. Like, I'm honestly telling the truth. Like, 100% the truth, like no lies, no none of that. Like, I literally have no intent of scamming anybody. I literally I go to a night job later tonight. I have literally no type of anything. Like I'm honestly telling the truth. Like the real deal. Like I literally came here and isolated. Can she verify this? Because I said I don't want to take it to my bank because like I'm a little skeptical about my you know my institution that I failed with because they Well, the issue was you do the check of faith. Well, I didn't even cash up. That's the thing. I asked the lady, "Can she verify?" I said, "Hey, I" I literally, you can go and get her. Okay? Cuz I literally said I said, "Hey, can you please verify this?" Cuz I said, "I deal with checks." And I was like, "I'm a little skeptical because um a check came in the mail from a company that I used to work for years ago that closed down and I was like, this these numbers don't add up." And I was like, I didn't even want to go to my baby cash. I even told her I called up here and I said, "Hey, I have a check by mail from you guys' bank." Mhm. She said, "You just have to bring the check in." Yeah. Exactly. So, I didn't do nothing wrong. I didn't even say cash a check. I literally asked her to verify it and do what I need to do. Okay. I'm just going to swear to you real quick just to verify. I'm telling the truth. Okay. Right here. You saw me swear in front of the testimony you just gave in. This case was the truth. The whole truth. Nothing but the truth. Yes. That's the whole truth. I'm so serious. I never been arrested before. I never had anything to do with anything. It's just like it's really difficult for me to even try to process this because it's like I never had to to do any of this. All right. I'm sure we can we can go ahead and contact her in a second. Please. Okay. Well, we we'll call her in a second. too. You guys don't even have to arrest me. Can I just call her, please? No, I'm sure they'll be call.
