And after many sleepless nights, she tells me tonight she will rest easier knowing the man who killed her daughter is going to prison. This video contains the interview of a man who stepped forward to help with a case and accidentally made himself a suspect. When 12 year old Naomi Jones disappeared in 2017, it sent shockwaves throughout her neighborhood, there were no immediate suspects and everyone was nervous as they wondered if this was going to be the start of a string of similar cases. One of her neighbors, a man that tried to be a positive adult, influence on the children around him, step forward and tried to help with the investigation. Unfortunately, although he turned out to be completely innocent, he failed a polygraph test and became an object of scrutiny. Do you work anywhere? Landscaping. With a certain company or just contract kind of? Yeah. Okay. All right. And what I'm going to do is, let's try to get your timeline for Wednesday. When Naomi went missing from like the time you woke up to the time you went to bed. I woke up as soon as Brandon Douglas. He was calling my phone, as well as my brother, my cousin, but I called him, my brother was calling me as well to let me know that he was coming. And that was around like 2.30. He was calling on the Facebook messenger, and I got up. 2.30 in the afternoon on Wednesday, you woke up? That's what time I normally get up. Do you work all night or something, or you just stay up all night? I just stay up all night. Okay. Is there a reason you stay up all night or? I don't want to go, I mean, I just stay up all night. I'm out of school. I mean, I stay up late and I sleep during the day. That's how I operated. Unless I was needed for landscapers. But normally I'll be up, normally one or something like that, getting ready to go to school. Where do you go to school? George Stone. What are you taking over there? Electrician. And what's your schedule over there? Oh, you're not in the summertime? Yeah, I'm in the summertime. And you do electrical? Yes, ma'am. Okay. How long have you been going there? Since October 3rd, 2016. Okay. So, you got some calls from Brandon Douglas, correct? Yeah, I was getting the calls and text messages. I got up, I was hearing the door knocking. I got up, put my clothes on, open up the door. The little brother was standing right there, and as I left… Which middle one? The smallest one or the middle one? The middle one. Okay. Do you know his name? Manman. Manman is what you call him. So, Manman was knocking. Well, I don't know if he was, Brandon said he walked up five minutes after he pulled up. Probably took as much time as it took me to get my clothes on to get to the door. That's how long. So, when I opened the door, Manman, Brandon was right there, you know what I'm saying? And then Manman was walking towards me from the left side. And he was like, JBO, have you seen my sister? I'm like, no, what's going on? Well, I went in the bathroom and came back out and she was gone. That was like, and he say out of his mouth, that was like three hours ago now. And I was like, well, you need to, huh? Call your mama. Let your mama know. She was gone. Your phone off my phone. With this phone number of the 208? Yes, ma'am. And he called… Was it right then at about 2.30 or was it… It was like 2.30, maybe two little bit. I mean… Because we have all the phone records, so it just kind of like backs up the phone call when you got in that… 2.35, something like that I say like that. And as I'm talking the Brandon, Brandon like, look, here's the money right here that I owed your brother and stuff like that. Let me use your bathroom. And Manman was talking to her, gave me my phone back, went back downstairs, Brandon come out, me and him talked, whatever, da da da. He slide out, his mama called back. Look out there, see if you see Naomi walk out, look outside. No, I don't see her. All right. I'm, I'm leaving work now. I'm on my way home. How long after you called her or did she call you back? I would say that was probably 3.15, 3.20, something like that. This witness is a tenant in the same apartment building as Naomi Jones. He has come forward to offer information, but ends up raising false red flags about himself. And while all we can do is watch the detectives do their best to solve this case, today’s sponsor lets you actually step into the shoes of a detective and solve a case on your own. Unheard Voices of Crime is a multi-awarded and best-selling innovative experience that puts you in the shoes of an Acoustic Detective, allowing you to hear every word spoken at the scene of a crime. You won’t be fed a pile of clues. Rather take the role of a fly on the wall, observing and listening to the events as they unfold. Every clue, every move, and every motive will be presented in the form of audio, and rather than controlling any one character, you will need listen to their conversations, following along as the story evolves. You’ll need to use the information you hear to match names to voices and determine how everything (and everyone) is related. Unheard is, in a way, an interactive radio drama. By combining aural narrative techniques with the type of exploration elements present in video games, Unheard offers a brand-new, non-linear radio drama experience. I will be giving out steam keys for the game to a few randomly selected viewers that reply to my pinned comment of this video. So, if you want to play this unique multi-awarded detective experience, with a unique audio-driven gameplay, head to 505.games/UnheardVoicesOfCrime and start solving mysteries right now. Like if she left, just to inform her. Because it's like I said before, it is not really none of my business. Say if I pull up like I normally do, and they might come outside and say, what's up? [Inaudible]. Chop it up. Because really recently ain't really been like that, but when they was in school and stuff, it be like high school door, something like that. I'm steady, I'm walking towards, you all need to get back in the house. You’re all not supposed to be out here. But then my thing is just when I felt the need to wear, I was like, when she actually called back and asked did I see her walk? I was like, well if she left then you need to know that she probably been leaving. And when you get home and she come back, you need to have a talk with her about that. And it was more like, I ain't talking shit because she going to get punched in her face. Those type of comments is what made me come forth and want to let you all know. So, mom said when she comes home, she going to get punched in the face? That's what I'm saying. And then hear from my ex-girlfriend stuff, that's what made me come forward. Other than that, if I didn't hear this type of stuff, I probably wouldn't have said it. I wouldn't have came forward, I probably wouldn't even thought to even just let you all know that it is other areas that you all should be looking in. Other than, like I said, I don't know the process… Well, we go through this with everybody… And you all go through all the houses and stuff like this. So, I was just saying maybe you all don't need to be going. That's why I came forward, you feel what I'm saying? Well, we were going to hunt you down anyway because we needed to talk to you because we know you lived there. Everybody in that apartment complex is going to be a suspect until we can rule them out. Because a little girl to disappear out of thin air right there in front of her own apartment, nobody hears a struggle. Our thoughts, she may be in an apartment here or she may have gotten in a car. I mean, it happened, who knows, whatever. So, we need to talk to everybody. It's a little baby, now she's not here. We go through this with the mom, the dad, everybody gets put through the same thing as what you're getting put through. So, once I get these timelines, then we'll go over like additional stuff that's come off. But that'll be that. If everything clears out, we'll be done. I've done it to mom, dad, sister, aunt, uncle, I've been through them all. So, it's just one of those things I have to check off every single person I talk to. If it's ever just a help, not ever an unsolved case, you know, they can look back and say no, they thoroughly went through that person. No need to go back and in 10 years and go back to that person. You know what I mean? While it is true that each person even remotely involved in the case has to be thoroughly investigated, this statement isn't entirely accurate. If this became a cold case, anyone looking into it later would have to repeat the same steps to ensure nothing had been missed. This is just meant to soothe the witness so they don't panic and think they are suspected of anything, even if they are. That's why I try to get as many details as I can. I know you said you were sleeping, but is there anything you remember maybe looking out, seeing a car or something sitting out there or a person or… I go to sleep at five in the morning, stuff like that. So, when I go to sleep, I sleep like, the time that I woke up every, it's like that every day. Like my routine is simple. I will have either it's a chick there with me that I go get late night, two, three in the morning or whatever. And I don't go to bed till like four or five in the morning, six in the morning. And once I go to sleep, I'm out of there. Like, I ain't no really waking me up my door shut you, you come knocking or whatever. I might hear you, but you going do have to do, like Brandon did was ring, ring, ring, ring. And then eventually I will get up. But the way my routines are, I'm not seeing nothing. Like, that's just my routine. During the daytime, I be asleep. Let's go back to this timeline. So mom called you back about 3.15, 3.20, you're still in the house. Yes. At that point she tell you she's going to… And then eventually maybe like 3.30 my brother's pulling up. Who's your brother? That's Raul, that's Mikayla's dad and he pulls up and he got his kids, and then from there they was there with me for the remainder of the night. And they… You stayed home the rest of the night then went to bed? Yes. And then all through that little process of the girl coming up missing and that by that third or fourth day I been at the house with the children. There was points where we were knocking on the door throughout the search. The children are told not to answer the doors while we were sleeping. That just simple as that. They know not to touch the doors. We get the doors now. But you should have been awake at that time. It was like evening time. They were awake. The first day you said you usually wake 2.30. I remember waking up one time and Elijah said somebody came knocking on the door. I ain't answer. You get what I'm saying? So, you pretty much sleep all day. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Like, I sleep. But you were up the other day when you drove off and then came back. Because I never went to sleep. Like this Shit is like, this past little thing situation with the police coming, my kicking tang me on the ground about assault rifles and stuff. I haven't even been able to really sleep comfortably seeing pistols and stuff. The events that the witness is describing are a reasonable explanation of why his sleep pattern would be disturbed. But it is a deviation during a critical time period, which makes the detective take a closer look at him. Real talk, I just would like the situation to be -- I wish it never happened. I wish it never happened. Especially so close because like I say, I have never seen it. Like I don't feel like… And to a baby. Yeah. And I mean, to me like I say, I can't be talking about what I feel or who I think did anything. But what I'm saying is over the course of me staying at 218 and being there, I got comfortable with not having to deal with that type of shit. And for that type of stuff to happen has really throw me mind boggling me. I'm seeing my little nieces, my little cousins crying. Imagine your little niece getting snatched out of the [inaudible]. That's right. Crazy. It's like really messing with me mentally. When folks talk about it every, every time somebody say something about it, it's like chills and like really, like, I don't really, I wish it -- to be honest with you, I have came across a couple people. I got into my brother the other day for just not caring the people that call my phone for other situations and they talking about it and it is almost like they don't even care because it's nowhere near and it ain't got to worry about it, but I stayed right there. I got to worry about it. I got to care. Be here for this situation. And still be okay with knowing that a floor down, something has happened to a girl for that was 10 or 11, when they first moved in, you know what I'm saying? And then now she turned up missing and then the boy using my phone and I'm letting him use my phone to let his mama know that she gone and I'm thinking she coming back. She probably just snuck off or around and then she don't come back. And then you hear the more about the girl being found dead and stuff like that. Folks don't really understand what I'm mentally going through and emotionally. Like, yeah, I can maintain my composure for my family and stuff like that. But really I'm battling just like a lot of people, like I say, I wish it wouldn't have never happened. I wish I wasn't even around her that night. And I probably wouldn't even care worry about it. Did you ever hang out with the kids at all? Like, did you get to know them? With their mom taking them to Chucky Cheese. The little boy asked me and my brother all the time to take him fishing, taking him fishing. We took him fishing one time. Thursday, I think the children got out of school Wednesday. Thursday I went and got Ricky and Mimi and then we met up with all my family and stuff. We went to the beach and then I went and got my niece. Ricky and Mimi? That's my ex-girlfriend's children that I have grown to be attached to over the course of three, four years. When I first came around Ricky and Mimi, Ricky was two and Mimi three, they seven and six now. So, I actually put in a lot of time with them not having a father in their life. I thought you were talking about nicknames for the family that lived down there. So, Thursday did you…? Thursday I went and got them, well, I'm talking about when they let school out. Yeah, when school went out. So, you went and got them went somewhere… I went with them on Thursday, we went with my family to the beach, then I went and got my sister daughter, my niece and I took her off of sunset and took her Chucky Cheese… Who did you take to the beach with you out of them three? When I took Ricky and Mimi to the beach with my whole entire family. I'm talking about the Manman's and… I didn't take them to the beach. Okay. That's what I was trying to get at. Ricky and Mimi… Ricky and Mimi is like the step kids. All right. We're just talking…. I'm just saying like this… The witness keeps going off track and the detective is struggling to keep the names and events straight. I went and spent time with my niece Friday and then I called her mama that Friday and just asked her, hey, did you want to take the children to the pool? Because I'm like touching bases with everybody that I feel like I could have a positive impact on them. The second red flag that the witness raises is his interaction with various children in many kidnappings, the perpetrator has a history of befriending the child beforehand. It's summertime and them children always there and they'll never go nowhere for real. So, what all have you done with those kids, Naomi and Manman… Just the Chucky Cheese thing and the fishing with Manman. That's pretty much the only thing I ever did with them. And the Chucky Cheese thing was with the mom. The only time the mom wasn't present with one of her children was with Manman. All right, let's go back to this timeline. So, after 3.15, 3.20, mom calls you and tells you she's on her way home. 3.30, your brother Raul comes home with his kids. With the kids. Brandon had just left. Okay. Like Brandon left at that time. And then… I was there with the kids, like from when all that process of me peeping outside to possibly to see them out there that Wednesday, the children is in here with me. That next day, that Thursday, I wake up the children here. My brother in there that Friday, the same thing. Like really the whole processing and going through everything. I have been around. This whole process I have been around my family and the children. Let's try to get through this first day. So, the rest of the night, 3.30 on, you never left the house again? No. Okay. You were home all night and of the next morning. Never went anywhere after 3.30? And then Thursday all morning you probably slept all day again. Same thing. Wake up… Stayed home the all day on Thursday. And I might have went to where I work, the dude where I work, I might have went to his house. Where's that at? That's off of Sunset. What time would you think you went there? That's what I'm saying throughout the day, it's like probably I done went to my grandmother's house. I done went to my auntie's house. Like it's daytime. Once I get up around…. Sun's out or sun’s down? Sun's still out, maybe four or five in the afternoon. All right, let's go through your day yesterday. What'd you do yesterday? Yesterday? Yesterday I slept around Creekside because like I say, I didn't even want to be really around there. Like going over there to my house and cleaning up dog shit and stuff like that. And then like seeing folks, that type of stuff or folks just hang, just chilling. So, you were on [inaudible] when you woke up? No, I stayed in Creekside. Creekside. So, you were in the other apartments. So, that's 414, right? 414 Creekside. You woke up there and then what? And I mean I stayed there and then Raul went to school. Raven went to school. Raven came back. I got up, I got the girls because I had Mimi and Ricky with me then, because they was playing with my little nieces, my little cousin all the way up to like four o'clock in the morning, three o'clock in the morning. I can hear him. And then when Raven got back, I got up and we chipped and I was supposed to go and pay the water bill and I was supposed to go and pay a ticket that time just slid on by. And I took Mimi and Ricky back to her mom. Also around like six o'clock I went to Margaret's house, which is Raven's mum and holler to help out something. Where's she live? She stays in Pace. And then I went and seen her. And that was at 6:00 PM That was around like six in the morning because I got up, but I heard the girls playing. I know I told them to lay down. And then probably about 30 minutes later, an hour later I popped up because I got a call from a girl named Kendra and she wanted me to bring her something that I don't really like to. That's what I'm saying. I don't really want to be putting out like situations by smoke weed and stuff like that. But like I say, I went and hollered at Raven's mom went and talked to her for a second, which is Brandon mom. That's family. Went and hollered at her when I got up. And then I went and hollered, hung out with a chick till she probably went and got her some Benadryl from Walmart because she had her hands broke out. And then I came back and when I came back around like nine something that morning, Elijah was up. We played the game and then I went… The witness gives a lot of details that don't pertain to the case. It makes it difficult to sift through irrelevant things to find the facts that matter. Went back to sleep. We played the football game, then we played the basketball game. Then I went back to sleep. As I was laying down, Raven, she was just now getting up to get ready to go to school. And then like I say, went to sleep. And then by the time she got back from school, I got up, talked a little bit, I got the girls, took them back to their mom and then I came back to Creekside. And that's pretty much, and then like once Raul got off school and we got certain things situated, then, I mean that day was just -- we slid. He had to pay the car note, he had to drop the money in the bank, pay the car note. I mean that's just pretty much how the day went. The news came on, the girls, little girls was crying and stuff. All right, so let's go back. Wednesday, Naomi was taken. I don't know what… No, I'm telling you. Oh, well I'm not asking you. I'm telling you just to kind of get us going in a direction. She was taken on Wednesday. The following day, it wasn't a big thing yet. We weren't over there until the later afternoon. That's what I'm saying. So, that day before we ended up starting getting more involved in trying to locate her. What do you remember other than maybe going out to sunset to your friend's house, can you remember anything before the police showed up, later after what you did in that timeframe? The Wednesday? No, it'd be the day after. It'd be the Thursday. Where the house and stuff came… We came later, but yeah. We were sitting in the house, and I stepped out, me and Brooke because we was there with the kids and because they knock was knocking on the door like, JBO, my girl ain't came back yet. He can tell me something, da da. No, but I mean… So, the mom came up and said that in [inaudible]. Yeah, with the chick. And I was like, look, when the officers came yesterday, because she wasn't there when the two officers was there and we was walking down and [Tuki?] Mikayla was like, try Mark. He stays in Isley took her where? So, we shooting this stuff out. How do you know those names? Because my little niece. This is what I'm asking her. She don't even really want to tell me this stuff. Like because I was with them. I was taking them at that time to go to McDonald's. Taking who? Your niece and stuff? Yeah. BeBe and Mikayla. How old is your niece? Maybe what, 10 and 8? I was taking them to go to McDonald's. Then when the two officers at that time to Shantara she wasn't there but the officers was out there with the phone and just trying to help. I mean who can they call to see if Naomi went with somewhere at the house or something like that? Try Mark. She say try Mark or took her where? She say her Snapchat is some somewhere or some shit like that. Who was telling you? This is my niece. Your niece was telling you… She know these kids. So, I'm tell I'm relaying what she telling me and I'm shooting this out to them. Then that next day, like I say the house was there, we was there. Like I said Shantara was banging on the door, bro got went to the door and he came in here and he busted in. He was like he knocked on the door and I mean, and he was like, bro, get up man. She talking about the dogs coming and stuff like that. It doesn't help that the witness is not able to tell like cohesive story. He keeps starting up at random points and it is hard to keep track of everyone he has mentioned. Which will, if I have anything, you know what I'm saying? Which made me jump off. I had weed or something on me. I need to, you get what I'm saying? This kind of magnitude of case comes around. Don't worry about a little bit of weed… This is what I'm saying. This is what type of stuff that maybe -- because even with that being said, they still came in the other day about some guns, which you have to do your job, but that faded away from the little girl. So, for them to say for some… It's a bit more important because that was marijuana. But I mean just the thought process of let me get up, half sleep, make sure I'm good. The dogs come and stuff. Listen, all I can tell you is what she said. Like to look into… The first time we came out there, the door wasn't open for us. I don't know if the door was, like I said, I was asleep, I'd be asleep. Well, you said the dogs were coming then we [inaudible]. But this is what I'm saying. Did somebody come knocking on the door before the dogs? About the same time. So, did you go anywhere Thursday? No, I didn't. I was home and when I got up, like I say when that day when I got up, Shantara was at the door with the girl with the phone looking through the phone and stuff and I was like this… What time did she come up to your apartment? What time did the dogs come? Because they came at the same time. Four-Ish. Maybe a little bit before. A little earlier, it could have been about 2.33 because we came at… That's what I'm saying, it's around about them. Same times they coming same times I'm waking up. So 2.30 or is it…? Three? I mean what… It's your judgment call. Because I wasn't there when… I'm not looking at phones either and checking times. It's like when the dogs came, when the house was over there. Like I say, she was asking where my daughter had [inaudible] tell me something like that right there, like really make me feel like… The witness is not the type of person who normally keeps close track of time, but when being questioned it ends up sounding like he is trying to avoid giving an answer. I can't tell you nothing. Like besides where you might can go to find though. Now I'm asking Tuki again. I'm asking Mikayla again and her dad is asking her again. What's the dude named that Naomi liked it? What's her friend? What's Mark number? Well, Raven had to pick Mark up for school. So, Raven was able to obtain Mark's dad number or mom's number or something like that. And Raul called Raven got the number and then we relayed the number to her. We relayed the number to her so she can call the dude. It's really nothing I can do. It's nothing else I can do. Okay, so when we came over there and we knocked later. You said you were sleeping. I'm asleep. So, it's summertime for me. I don't really have to be up unless I get a call saying, look, I need a side job, because… I don't care. Like to me, if you didn't want to answer door because you were afraid of what was in the house, I don't care. That could be your answer. That's better than you were asleep right after mom was talking to you at the door. It doesn't make sense… No, I didn't say when the mom was talking… No, I'm saying you were up when mom came to your door. And we were standing outside the whole time. Listen to what I'm trying to tell you. You were up when mom came to the door and you talked to her about she was asking where she was. We were there right after that. Oh, did you all come again? No, no, no. This is on Thursday. The day after Naomi went missing. It was the next day after the Thursday. And you said mom came to your door around 2.30 or three and said, where's she at again? The following day. This isn't the day you talked to her on the phone, right? It's the following day. We came a little later than that, just almost the same time as that. So, I'm okay with you saying I didn't want to the door because I had stuff in there. I'm not going to charge you with anything. No, no I don't. No… If you didn't want to answer the… You all said, you said you came later? We came right about that time that she came, maybe an hour after that. We were all over the place Thursday evening. We was out there for a while just standing on the balcony and no one came up. Well, I mean I was out there. Nobody came up. We were standing on the balcony for a long time as the dog was walking and all that stuff. Well when they knocked on your door [crosstalk] And we went back in. That you were not answering. So, I don't care any reason why not, but except if it's something to do with Naomi. But if you had illegal stuff in there and you didn't want us to see it, I don't care about that either. It's not just that, what I'm saying is when she say that it has nothing to do with -- if you all came back, sorry, I missed you, but I can't really tell you if you get what I'm saying. Like I don't remember while we was there and stepping outside and looking and stuff like that while we was there, no one came. Now, and that's what I'm saying. Like, to be honest with you, if I am not mistaken, we was there didn't nobody else, the children, us and brother, if I'm not mistaken, we was there Thursday. Okay, so all day Thursday. And didn't nobody come, now that Friday I was told that it was some knocking in. Natalie was like, they have been coming up there knocking on the door. And that would've been the second, we were knocking Thursday and Friday. And then I believe Saturday morning is when we kicked your door in. Correct. Is that right? Saturday was when they kicked the door in. That Friday I was passing out flyers because that was the third day. Where were you at passing out flyers? Me and the girls was out there in my neighborhood passing our fliers to people and I was stopping everybody I knew. All in New Lincoln Park, all in the park. So, you guys were walking around your area. We was riding. They was jumping out. They putting them in mailboxes. So, you were driving around and doing it or walking and driving? We was driving and we was moving that Friday. And then we went to… Knowing this could help clear the witness, since at some point he was probably picked up by traffic or security cameras. Grandmother house. I went back… Where is that? That's unity. And I went and checked on my grandmother. And let her know what was going on. I talked to my auntie that day. And I had to go back because I dropped Elijah off. He was playing basketball. Me and the girls went and passed out the flyers and stuff. Other than just around the Lincoln Park area. Where all did you go to pass out flyers? I started at Walt house, which is right there. What is that right there? Is it right there? Like right there where the curve come around at the end. So, it's on Johnson? No, it's on left lake. Left lake. Do you have an address? I don't necessarily know the address. But like, you know where the woods stop when you come around the curb. Then you got Walt house, which is a white car right here. Made sure I got him one. The old two old guys that was right there, walk across the street, made sure I gave one. That brother Robert was like Robert Jr. He was like what's going on bro? I passed one. I'm hitting everybody Kenisha, the Mike Robinson, Poochie, da da da. These is people I know. And I'm hitting everything. The light-skinned lady, the older lady that's always sitting on her porch. Everybody. So, this is [crosstalk]. Where did you go after that? Then after that I went and took the girls because the girls wanted to see their nana. So, I went over there and… That's the off of unity. So, Lefty to Unity then where? And then I went, like I say I can walk through the little house, my grandmama house going to check on her, walk back down or whatever. My auntie show up. I'm talking to her about it. What time did you get to Unity that day? Do you remember? I know I went up here to that Olive church. That was probably what one when I got up because I slid down and asked them, are they still searching and stuff like that. I couldn't take the girls on a search. And really, to be honest with you, I don't really want to go through all that and be talking about coming up and finding nothing. I'm not really trying to see no 12 year old you dead and stuff. I'm not trying to see that. But what I will do, because they was friends, the girls was friends. Let me take y'all because they're the type of people that want to go and look. Because like I said, when I sent the messages to they mama, she cussed me out about not jump, you know what I'm saying? Going right in and off rip like I'm not impulsive person to be just jumping off in something and not really be knowing what's going on. But by the third day, which was that Friday I was up all night and couldn't sleep. And then I'm talking about didn't get no sleep all the way until that neck. Like so that really my normal routine all the way off my eyes is all dry and shit. What messages? I sent her messages and I told her. Basically pretty much like if there's anything I can do and it was more like you real shady and da da da da. You supposed to… She was telling you? Yeah I supposed to have [inaudible] It ain't about the kids. Because that's why the conversations I would have if I was to talk to her, you know you got to focus on your kids. You can't be worrying about, you know what I'm saying? But I was saying, look, I'm willing to go out. It's like six in the morning, five in the morning. I send this message, look, if you want to go and start doing something, let's go and pass out some fliers. Now let's go and knock on those now. And you cuss me out talking about you. Don't worry about it. Just if you see something call. Like I was ready then. Like that was that turn up mode. The way I was like let's do something. That's how if we got to put in all time all day, that's what that from getting that… The witness involved himself in the search, which is often what the guilty party does in this type of case. Although it was done for the right reasons, it is still considered another strike against him. Feedback of me willing to do whatever I have to do and then to get the type of response. I showed my brother, he was like that's like some bull. Like who come at people at times like this. Like if I'm ready to go and go all in for your child right now, I feel like you should be having that same, but it was more like -- still that same day, I still got to something. I was talking to bro, bro we got to do something. We did know the people. He was sleep then. I woke him up. And I was like, we going to do something. I'm going to get the girls. We going to do something. So, when I got up around like one something I got the girls. I was like, y'all want to go and pass our fliers for Naomi and stuff like that. They was like, yeah everybody, all three of them. Elijah, BeBe took it, all of them put their clothes on, we left, went and passed our fliers. Brown light one-ish, two-ish, passed our flies till about we put in like three hours, four hours out there in Lincoln Park. I said I'm talking about everybody I knew I'm hitting him. I'm stopping in the middle of the street jumping out. Like we actually put in work that day and then capped it off with going to see the Grandmama, which is my auntie. Got a call from Rose was like, look, Elijah need to come back around here because they want to question him. So, I had to take Elijah back to Creekside, left with the girls again with back out to [inaudible] house. Chill, hung out, talked with family, came back home. And so after grandma's house, you went back to the house your apartment at Johnson. And then you were there the rest of the night. Unless because see like I say unless you know and see with that type like just thinking like I don't know if, but I might got a call… Again the witness is hesitant to say exactly where he was at a specific time. The more he does this, the more it sounds like he is trying to hide his actions. Call from the dude that got the landscaper and he was like, man, just come over here. And get away from the bullshit over there. I might go over there. Do you remember going over there? I remember going over there because I know he called me. He was like, I talked to bruh and I heard about -- so I think I might've went over there that Saturday because he was telling me to get away from that shit. I heard about how they kicked in the door and all that stuff. So, I know I went over there probably Saturday. And where's he live off? Off Sunset, Gilling. Oh that's the same guy? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Before you just said it was a friend. You didn't say it was the landscaping friend. So, I just want to make sure it was the same one that you were talking about. So, Saturday you think you went over there, you know what time? I'm pretty sure I went over there and then Sunday like I was telling bro we was at the house Sunday. All day? Probably not. We still got a life. I'm not… I'm not saying you don't, I'm just trying to get a timeline. That's it. It wasn't all day. I remember Sunday I was at the house and then he came in because I got to go and clean that shit. You know there's nothing wrong with being at the house all day. It doesn't mean you don't have a life. It just means you don't want to be out. I stay in the house. I can't deal with the sun. I stay in the house. When it start getting a little cooler, like three-ish, four-ish, that's when I like to come outside and then I might go and pick up the children and go somewhere, go to my grandmama house. That's pretty much my life is pretty simple. Like I ain't doing too much. It's summer. Like I just got out of school. Okay. So Sunday, two days ago? But Sunday I know for sure that because I wanted to talk. Because that Saturday kicked in the door and I was like thinking like going into that Sunday, I remember pulling up at Raul’s house. They were sitting on the couch, him and Raven. I was like, bro… Where’s Raul live? He stayed with me. We stayed at the same apartment but his kids and his baby brother stayed right around the corner. So, it's a family like other family house. [Crosstalk] And I remember them sitting on couch and I was -- that's Creekside. Okay so that's the 414 Creek. I thought that was you, it's your people. That's my people. I mean that's how close that is. It's just like I remember going over there and then just talking to him and I was like, I just got through talking to Jennifer. Because see I had her kids because I had to take her to work. Bring -- is it Bring…? Jennifer Brigman. I had to take her to work. So, I had her kids and that's how I was at the house. I want to say that Sunday night, oh no, did she go to work Saturday? If she went to work after the situation with that. Because I know once they kick that door in, I grabbed the dogs and I left. Called to maintenance man to come put the door back on the head. Because I just left the door wasn't even locking. I said man, I got to get the hell from around here. Because I felt like personally it was supposed to be about the girl that came back by the guns, but still got to do your job. But at the door get kicked off the hinges. I got the dogs and I shut that bitch and I left. When I called the maintenance man, look bro, this is what just happened. He say he'll be there in 15 minutes. He said, you going to be there or you going to be gone? Look that big ain't even locked. But I got to get the hell from around here. Because it's just too much going on. And I remember I talked to bruh, he was like, he was there. I say, did they put the door back on the hinge? Yeah. And I know if I believe Jennifer, because I talked to Jennifer and I want to say whichever day it was, I don't know. But I know when I talked to Jennifer I felt the need to go and talk to the investigators. I called him because Raven gave me Martinez number. I said, what is that investigator's number? Because after talking to Jennifer, from what she seen and experienced… The witness leaps between different points in time without clearly defining them. This is not only confusing, but it can make it sound like he is lying if they misunderstand what he is saying and can't corroborate it. And this just like was fucking with me, just fucking with me. Just about the mom? Just the whole situation period. Like I just don't understand because see if I was missing y'all then maybe I misread it then. If y'all were coming to talk about the situation. Because my thing was if y'all was coming to talk them times, I miss y'all, about the start of it, then I was me. That was just something that I missed then. Because like I say, by the time I talked to Jennifer, I just felt like these folks came Friday and searched, came Saturday for the guns and still hasn't no one stopped me besides the FBI induction lady talking about she thanked me for everything I done for the children. But I'm like, why hasn't nobody came and talked to me about that first call that was from my phone. You see what I'm saying? That's what I'm saying. I didn't know that. So, I took it upon myself to come and just talk and ask, why it hasn't any -- and just get a folks insight on what I think about the lady that's the correction officers down the way or the woman that just did, give you some insight on the neighborhood. And like I say, in the situation between with her daughter that happened, that stay right in front of me with at her house. So, this like red lights, like maybe these folks probably need to know a little bit more about this woman since this shit happened that I never seen right here. Y'all need to know about this woman here because really the way she acting, the way she cussed me out talking about, I'm trying to… Like have you ever in a relationship or any kind of sexual relationship or anything with Shantara? No. Any kind of, just one night. This is another example of oversharing. If the witness had just said that he did not have a relationship with the woman, it would've sounded much better. The way he answered makes it sound as if he might have been pursuing her. Stands or any hookups, nothing like that. No. But I have seen her out of her regular clothes a couple times. But that was just… You mean like naked? Not naked, but in bra panties, stuff like that. Outside or just in the house when she's like that? Yeah, I might knock on the door. Hey you, you know you left your light on in your truck. [Inaudible] them kids. But when she answered the door she in bra panties. Like that have me thinking that I probably got a chance. But the type of person that she portrayed herself to be was that type of person that would never bring just no any type of dudes around her children that I can respect. And I never seen actually dudes there besides the dad that got locked up. But that was every once in a while I might see a car parked that may be hers or looked at like that was that situation at one point in time. When I reached out and I was like, look, I'm ready to do whatever, I need to do by that third day and I got that type of response. I really felt, and then people presenting this well person say she lost time, between her arrest. And I stay here, you feel what I'm saying? And then when I come down and they just laughing and they just chilling. And then we walked down and me, my brother and the kid walked down and they kind of like… This was a little day it happened. Nah, it's not just over the course of the days, I'm saying it was consistent. It's not like one day they was just out there chilling. This was like three, four days straight between eight and four. Y'all could have been out there searching for the girl, but they wasn't. And then [inaudible] talk to Jennifer and then me feeling how I feel about the little situation and reaching out. And then she had come in some way and then seeing the on Facebook where the woman I'm guessing as her, because he was married to the little bitty baby dad had a wife already. And I guess that was the one that reached out and they showing me this on Facebook. I'm like man, this woman really ain't really acting concerned about her baby. And everybody else in like they is. And that's why I just wanted to come talk to y'all and let y'all know, man, y'all might need to look somewhere else. After talking to Jennifer, I felt the need to just call myself and ask why didn't anybody come and talk to me about? Is somebody hiding something or switching up timeframes and stuff like that. Because to put me in a position of where I'm a suspect now or something like that, because I live in the area, it is not fair. Right now there's a lot of people that live in that area that we’re focused on because… But it's not fair to the people. I did not see where that girl went. I do not know where that girl went. Don't know the intentions. But wouldn't you appreciate it for your niece if we were doing the same thing and questioning every… Most definitely. And this is why it's not a problem. But, I still had a life and I was like, at the same time, it throws everything off. Like everything I was consistently doing that was not harming anybody and staying out the way and try trying not to cause any trouble with people and stuff like that. And I know people have talked to you, you've talked to probably multiple people. I'm the one that's putting the whole case together. I'm the person in charge of this case getting it all put on paper. I've got to collect everything together and whenever they have somebody that may heighten their interest, they have me speak to them so that I can get a firsthand story. So, I can be able to be a judge of what you're saying. I can put something down as a timeline and verify your whereabouts and then I can be done with you. Otherwise if I don't talk to you, that's always going to be lingering up there that I got to get this done or I got to find out more. So, this is why I want to do this and get it over with and figure out what's going on. Verify your timeline, your story, everything. And then I can rule you out completely. And I appreciate that, but it's just like, really y'all don't even - I'm sure you done seen a lot of things, but this man seeing them cheering and stuff, crying and stuff. And then like I say, I didn't see no effort for real. That's why I came forward and it kind of made me feel like maybe I shouldn't have came forward and just waited. But I initiated it myself. As the witness realizes he is starting to be looked at as a suspect, he shows signs of regretting coming forward. If you wouldn't have come forward then we would've suspected you more because you were hard to find. So, it's good that you did come forward because we needed to talk to you anyway. Let me ask you this. Did Naomi ever come to you like upset about anything in the home? Like have heart to hearts with you about anything? Like did she feel like she could talk to you about stuff? Naomi, she would pretty much be, it would be more like speaking, hey JBO. And then it'd be like, how you doing in school? That's where I kept it at. Are you behaving yourself? Did you get them grades up that we talked about? That type of stuff. Because see I'm the type of person like the little boys like, like Manman, like Jay too small. I can't really talk to Naomi being 12 year old girl. Because I don't know what, I know what 12 year old girls go through. But I can't give you really no advice. You got to get that from another woman. It was the Manman that was always, they was talking about it's really messing up in school. He the one that really was the troubling. He was the one that would always, I'm talking about every time I get out the car, something he had to come talk to me. So, really to be honest with you, it would really be devastating if something was to happen to him. You've connected more with him. Because me and him kind of got like, because like I say coming from a dad that always lied to me, ain't do nothing for me. I felt I seen him trouble. I didn't see Naomi trouble. That's why I say when I talked to Jennifer, it felt made me feel like I needed to come and holler at y'all for real, for real. And wonder why y'all ain't, you know what I'm saying? Because it sounded like it could have been something that made her run away by talking to her. Or it could have been something that was really, really with her that didn't nobody know about. But only women could connect to about certain looks that y'all give each other or certain vibes that y'all have. I didn't get that from Naomi. I didn't see her really sad. I always seen her smiling and sticking the head out the door. Hey Jbo, y'all, you doing good? Da da. Y'all get back in the house. But it was the Manman that was just like. I could see he was heading in the direction of getting in trouble like me or not having something to do with something and now you got this on your record and then when something like this happened, now this shit popping up and then you looking. That's how I feel. I probably didn't even look, but I felt like that's what could have occurred. What's with Naomi and Elijah? From my understanding Naomi liked it Elijah, but Elijah like 12 years old, looking like 15. He like older girls. So, that wasn't… So, did they ever, like, I don't kind of do like a little whatever meeting that they do at that age. I believe Naomi just now was going to middle school. She would've been just now going to middle. Yeah, she just turned 12. Yeah. Elijah already was in middle school, so he wasn't. It was Naomi and Tuki and Mikayla that was friends and snap chatting and each other from my understanding. Naomi and Tuki? And Mikayla That's Tuki. Your niece, you mean? They were friends. They was friends. And that was BeBe, from explaining what they mom was saying. That's Bebe's friend as well. Who's Elijah's dad? That's Raul. Raul is Elijah's. I knew one of you were, but I didn't know which. Okay, so Elijah of course comes over to your apartment sometimes if that's his dad, correct? They start coming over more because of the summertime. During the school year, they will stay there because that's where they have to go to school. And then bro would leave because he has to study and stuff for his schooling. So, a lot of times I would go over just over there but school just really got out. Was it the Wednesday before last Wednesday? Something like that. Two weeks ago. That's when the children started being over there like near every day. And then when they take the dog out, they playing with the children and stuff like that. So, when Elijah's there, does Naomi come up there and come in your apartment or anything? Absolutely not. Them children have been up there before. They've been in your apartment before? But that was like months, like far as like the little boy used to ask all the time to play the game. I told him if you do good in school or you do what you got to do and you clean up. And this was only one time. Ask your mama. And that one time… The witness had admitted that the victim had been in his apartment before, which makes him even more closely connected with her in the detective's mind. I let him come up there and play the game. Him and his little brother. And then Naomi came up there, but she didn't stay. She left, came back. Do you remember when that was? Man, that was probably like three months ago, but that was just that one time. Okay. So, they've only been in your apartment only one time? One time. What game was it? Motor comeback? And that's what I'm saying. The reason that was is because he just kept at one point in time, it was just like you try to figure out what can you do for the boy to get right in school. But at the same time, I didn't feel right making it a habit because me and your mom ain't really, really like that. Like that. Like I say, I already had an understanding of what she say. She don't really like dudes around y'all like that. So, but y'all keep pressuring and then she trying to get y'all to clean up, but you like, I want to go with Jbo. I can't be your dad. I only can be the neighbor that gives you good advice and sometimes can do something nice, but I cannot be everything. When they came in your house that time, where were they at in the house? Just in the living room. And that's it. That it just in the living room area. And have any of them ever been in your car? Yes. Who? I went and grabbed some cigarettes and cleaning supplies and stuff that [inaudible] needed one time. We rode the Dollar Tree and all three of the kids; Jayden, Manman, it's not like she didn't trust me with them. Jayden, Manman and Naomi rode with me to get cleaning supplies one time and I stop… Do you remember when that was? That was round probably up in that maybe three months ago. I mean, it's not… Because earlier you said, I know you said the only place you ever took them was the Chucky Cheese. I'm talking about like something a man does nice. Like Chucky Cheese, I took a little boy fishing and… When you went to Chucky Cheese, when was that? I can't remember. Did they all go with you in your car or no? No, we rode in her truck. Her truck. When they were in your car to go to Dollar Tree… I got bleach and pine saw. Where were they all sitting in the car? Naomi was in the front. The two boys was in the back. And like I said, I went and got cleaning supplies and as I dropped the cleaner supplies off, Naomi asked her mama because I was going to Creekside then. Naomi asked her mom and Manman was like, can we go around there and play with them while JBO go around there? She said, yeah, we went around there. They played for a little while after that. Went up the stairs. Look, it's time for y'all to go, if I'm not mistaken, they had school. Y'all got to get ready for school. Took them back home. End of the night. Shantara, appreciate it JBO. Da da da. That's it. Let me go over this timeline just to see if we got everything correct and then I'll go over some other questions I got. So, on the day she went missing, you woke up about 2.30. Brandon was calling you banging on the door. Manman and Brandon showed up at the door at the same time. He asked have you seen his sister. Mom called about 3.15 to 3.20, 3.30. Your brother Raul comes home with the kids, you're home all night and didn't leave that night? No. Okay. All right. Then we got Thursday. Let's see, what we got. You really didn't go over what you did except for you were home pretty much most of the day except you went to your friend's on Sunset. Thursday? Yes. The day after that she went missing. Right before we showed up at night. That Thursday it was the house. Me and Bro sitting out on the porch smoking cigarettes, watching everything. I remember chilling for a while. We sat for a while because the kids was in there too. Going back over the statement, the witness has given the detective attempts to get more details about the day after Jones disappeared. Around that time. Like if y'all did come back and we wasn't there, and it was around like… Your car was there. Was my car there? I believe so. I believe it was there all night. On Thursday? On Thursday and Friday. If my car was there Thursday. But I mean, I want your idea of what you possibly did if you went somewhere. Thursday, that van was parked behind my shit probably. The Red van. I used Raul car and I could've went and checked on the girls at the lodge. I could've, I mean that Thursday. I mean, if I did leave, I didn't go to the store. But that's what I'm saying. I don't remember nobody coming back. Like I know that Thursday, I know that if I was parked in that second parking spot, what you call had me blocked in, so I couldn't go nowhere anyway. So, I would have to use Raul’s car. But if I was to use Raul’s car, I know in that schedule, in that timeline like that, I didn't go, I wouldn't have went nowhere but to see the girls. And where would that be? At the lodge. Right there for Davis. Lodge? Yeah. Oh, the condo lodge? Yeah. I didn't go. That's the only place. And where else would you go? Sunset? I wouldn't have went there. I ain't go to Sunset till that Saturday. Okay, so you think if you would've went anywhere, you would've gone to see the girls? I probably would've went seen the girls. Anything else? I probably went, I know that Thursday, man. I probably, and then I come back to that house and chill out and I say I don't remember nobody. I said no dope because them kids was there and shit. I don't remember that bit. I wouldn't have went to seen nobody but no girls or something. What girls? Ricky and Mimi. But that Thursday, that shit was like a cluster. Like a cluster for because like I say, that shit was banging on the door type. Waking me up out my sleep, [inaudible] like serious. The housing shit out there. So, you were home at that time? I'm been home the whole time for that. And then when nightfall, like when it started getting real, real late, and I know I didn't go to sleep Friday morning. Because I called, I text what you call it, and I went and passed out flyers and stuff like that. That Thursday… Over this whole time period. Did you ever like get up and leave in the middle of the night and go anywhere? You never left the house to late at night, early, early morning to go somewhere. Thursday? Anytime. This whole time she's been missing. Like I said shit, I still got female friends and shit like that. Like that like really this past time man, really, I try to stay close to home and close to family. So, if I was to slide, I would have to, it been the most definitely on some like trying to figure out like, you know what I'm saying? Talking to my grandmother, auntie, stuff like that. Like these past I haven't really been doing no nothing out of the whack. And really to be honest with you, like I told them, if the feds was around, FBI was around, I would much rather them have watched me. The whole entire time. So, you know where I went and seen that I wasn't doing shit. Well, that's why I'm trying to get this. That's what I'm timeline. So, I would most definitely, You went out in the middle of the night somewhere and I don't have that on here that you went somewhere then I need to know that so I can match… The witness assumes that the FBI who was on the scene for several days would've seen any of his comings and goings. He feels as if he has nothing to hide, but his lack of ability to give an accurate account of his movements is still bothering the detective. Work with what I got. Yeah. I mean that Thursday, Friday, like I say that shit, I was sleep as fuck by the time I got home. That Saturday I was sleep, by two something that same time. Okay, let me go on here. All right. That was Thursday. You really don’t [inaudible] Thursdays like was more like, I remember them. How’s out there? Okay, all right, let's move on to Friday. And the kids was there and it wasn't nothing else, I didn't do anything Thursday to be honest with you. And like I say, when you say y'all came back and knocked Thursday when I was home, if I was home, y'all didn't come knock on no door. Now if I did leave and probably go to my grandmother's house or go around there to Creekside or go and check on the girls at the room and stuff and or that later on that night have to take Jennifer to work and then I keep the girls and stuff like that. Where's Jennifer work? She works at the lodge and then she works at the artist Angels at night. Oh, Eric's. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. That Thursday, but then that Friday. I got for Friday I got that you went to Creekside. Friday… At 6:00 AM or you woke up at Creekside, you went 6:00 AM you went out to Pace by 9:00 AM you were home. That's not Friday. Oh wait, this is Monday. Yeah. That Friday was passing out flyers and stuff. Got that passing out flyers And bro saying that they came and searched the house. That Saturday was go getting kicked off the hinges for the rifles. Were you home then? Yes. Okay. You were home then. And me getting the dogs calling the maintenance man look, they just kicked the door off the hinges about this… Okay. And then Sunday I have that you were pretty much at the house and then you went to Raul's house. Yeah, like Saturday I went out there to Frank House. Then Sunday, that's when I went to talking to bro. I'm like, well the okay why they ain't came talk -- the investigators. Right, well we're done with that timeline. What we need to go through now is the questions that were asked during the polygraph. Did they tell you anything about how you did on that polygraph test? They said that I fail knowing what happened with Naomi murder and stuff like that. And I want to know why would you fail? Tell me what's going on. This is what I’m saying. I don't really understand what the vitals do. I know what I feel when I was asked the questions and when the shit hit my ear. Every time I hear this question asking me about a murder, I get fucking chills about this shit because I seen this girl over the course of two years. Have they been living there for five years? I don't know. Because Natalie and them been there. I know when me and my girl got… Failing a polygraph is not indicative of guilt. They are not accurate. And there are multiple reasons such as health conditions why someone might not be able to pass. Yeah. Well, because see the leases switched because the lease was in his name. When he started school, me and him switched names on the lease. He moved up to like tipping. Me and Jennifer was staying there. When me and Jennifer was staying there. It was a lady, it was Scott there. Scott stayed up under us which is friends with Raven and Raul too. Then after they moved out, then the lady with the autism son moved in and then they moved out and then Natalie and Chris moved in. Natalie and Chris now was there. I want to say they was there before [inaudible] there. Okay. All right. So tell me, you said this whole you think you failed because it gives you chills and… This is what I'm saying. Like when he explains it and I want to be there in any way I can and for me to come in right with the confidence. I know I didn't see where that girl went. I know I don't know where that girl went. I know I don't know nothing about that girl coming up missing. But the whole time, I know I'm taking something that has my reputation and all this on the line. Secondly, they say you passed the polygraph test about not lying, but for me not to be lying and know I'm not lying and still pass it. I feel like that shit is shady. It make me feel like I shouldn't have took it. It make me feel like I set myself up for failure when you know you didn't do anything, you know, you don't know nothing about it. When you look at how everything was going on, the set up and people doing their job and investigating and I'm sure I'm being watched at that point of moment anyway because it's so close in area and stuff like that. And for me to go in that conflict, like I know these folks have been seeing me how I've been moving and it ain't no way possible that they would feel like I would have something to do with that. But still ask me about a polygraph test and I go confidently to take one. And then you hit me with, I failed in those areas. I swear to God I do not know anything about it. Don't know anything about it. All I know is that boy used my phone that Wednesday and I wanted people to know he used my phone that Wednesday because I was wondering why did nobody ask me about it. What y'all say y'all been coming. But like I say, after talking to Jennifer, I wanted y'all to know what she thought and all this stuff. And then to take a polygraph test and then they tell me I fell and I'm lying in areas that it ain't even really no way possible. It ain't even possible for me that been in, you look through my phone and it's no way that I could have done that. Because even the time of what they were saying, like from what I got from the news and talking to people that was watching the news and what they were saying, the timeframe of that, I wasn't even know where near none of it. I have been sticking close just because of what's been going on. She went missing from right there though. So, that's where you are. That's what I'm saying. But since then I've been sticking close and for that to happen, like it's… Let me ask you this, have you ever been over to where she was found? I grew up in that areas. You grew up where? I grew up in Lincoln Park. The detective shows her skepticism about his innocence and the witness is understandably upset. He feels as if he is being persecuted for simply stepping forward and trying to help. What's the address you used to live at? 1616 Lefty Road. It's still on my ID. And when was the last time you've been over in that area? We, passed out fliers Friday. And you were with your two nieces. What's the day? Tuesday? Yes. That Sunday then I was with the family. You were on Creekside And we went out there, we went out there Sunday, no, Lincoln Park. I was out there that Sunday and we said a prayer and all that stuff and I was with the family all day. My sister followed me out because my situation with me ain't right. As far as with my life, I needed to go and pay a ticket today. My sister followed me out to make sure I got out of the neighborhood safely. And where'd you go? Because I had just recently find like through the mail that I needed to pay a ticket for parking. Where were you at then? When your sister followed you at what house were you at? I went straight to Creekside. That's what I had down. That you were at Creekside that day. And that's what I'm saying. And I woke up, and I know that going into that Monday, that Sunday night, I had to go and get Jennifer, take her to work, grab the kids, and I went to Creekside with the kids. So, Monday before the news hit, I was there with kids. So, I mean, the really feels shady to me. Like I feel like maybe the FBI, see this is why I asked Martinez and stuff like that. Like with the FBI… You didn't answer. The question was when was the last time you were at Lefty? Was it the flyers? It was Sunday afternoon. Friday I passed out fliers. And that was in the area of Lefty. Right. Saturday do get kicked in that probably that night I was Frank House later on. Right. So let's go back to Sunday. You said now? Yes. Sunday. When I got up, I'm telling my auntie and we go out there and I say a prayer, the whole family out there. That Sunday night I go get Jennifer and the kids drop Jennifer off at work. I take Ricky and Mimi with me, the Creekside that was going into that Monday. That Monday getting up at around like two in the afternoon, like I had the kids, took the girls to their mom. I'm trying to get what you're saying, but you're all over the place. So, Sunday… Sunday night, I had the girls. No, no, no. I'm starting out in the morning. That morning time you were where? Sleep until I got up. And then you went where? To my grandmother's house. And that's where? In Lincoln Park. And that's what address? 1616 Lefty Road. And then you went where? And then between that, that's Unity. My auntie's house right there. We was all there with the family. And that night, later on that after leaving there, because I had to leave because Jennifer had told me to be there by… Just where you're at is all I need. Okay. Leaving Lincoln Park. My sister followed me out of there all the way through the interstate, which is [inaudible]. She followed me. Just the final locations. Lefty, Unity, Creekside home, that kind of general information. Out of the park. Well, it's my bad. Then just give me the addresses of where you went to. It just makes it easier. And then I went to Creekside. I went stopped at Creekside. I went to the lodge, picked up the children. Back to Creekside. And that's pretty much it. Okay. Yes. Now so you were on Lefty on Friday, Lefty on Sunday. What other days throughout this time period were you on Lefty or in that area? That was it. That was it. Since she's been missing till now? From Friday, passing out flyers, Sunday and that's it. Like from that time like that. And then in between, like I say, I still go and check on my auntie and stuff like that. I'm on Unity. And you were with the girls on the Friday when you went in that area? I was with Mikayla and Mayana. And then you did see your grandma that day, correct? Yes ma'am. And then on Sunday when you were in that area, you were with your whole family? Right. Okay. What's your grandma's name? Eva. It has finally occurred to the detective to ask specific questions rather than let the witness wander off on his own rabbit trails. What's her last name? Dennis. Dennis. All right. You have a phone number for her? 478 3488. See, I'm trying to make it simple for just locations. So, on Sunday, what timeframe were you in Lincoln Park? Time to time? It was still daylight out. I mean, probably like three or four o'clock in the afternoon. Because matter of fact that Sunday, that day I went out there, I was with a girl named Rachel that I went and got earlier that day. So, I went out there around like four or five. Because I remember I was about to go to, I was about to go to sleep and she's like, no, get up because I want a recess. I was about to make a big deal about and, but I was like, I'm glad you got me up. Because I needed to go out here to my grandma house. So, because we already talked it was like four or five. And I needed to go on, get out there and holler at them and stuff like that. Okay. Rachel, you were with Rachel then though, right? What's Rachel's last name? Anderson. Anderson. Do you have a phone number for her? Is it in your phone? Yeah. What's is she listed as in your phone? She's not listed. It's like a 601 number. But I can get up with her. I mean, just to kind of say, yeah, I was with him on certain times of days, it would just be simple. Because I mean I took her to Ross and everything. So, you took her to Ross that day? So, which Ross did you take her to? On Davis. When did you stop there? Because you said Lefty, Unity, Creekside and [inaudible], Creekside. Where in there did you go to Davis? I can't really -- like this all got my mind closed for real, to be honest with you. There's too much going on. It's hard to remember all your details, but these are the kind of things that we need just to kind of keep track of what's going on. Y'all can see it in there. It's like, where you at? You'll see it in there though because I mean, I went and got her from Tina house in Pace. You went and got her that morning from Pace? I don't want to say it was the morning, but I got up. It's so much going on man. It's like, because to be honest with you, I remember sitting on the bed when I called her to come get her. And I remember sitting on the bed and looking at the TV. Okay. All right. So, your number -- the phone that they have is a what? What kind of phone is that? A straight talk. Straight talk. And that's the phone number? 208 1113? Does anybody else share your phone like a girlfriend or anything? Do you have anybody that uses your phone all the time? I mean, what you call her use in last night? Who? Jennifer. She was using, she uses it all the time or just…? No, it was just like, if I was with Kayla which been about a month, that it been a little minute since I seen her actually home with her. I mean she would use it for… You ever let her hold it and take it with her or is it your phone? No, that's my phone. But it ain't nobody take it either. You trust her to take it. Nobody figure my phone because I have to have a business and stuff like that. I understand that. One more item so far, unless I figure out some other stuff to think about before we let you go. Just to be complete. Absolutely. I got to ask Martinez what you call it right now. I'm not sure how the FBI do. But would they, because see that like mentally fucking with me. Because like I said, I come in not knowing nothing. The witness has sat no daily schedule and does not keep track of time. This makes following his movements difficult and the more he pauses when answering, the more evasive he sounds. I swear to God on everything I know. I don’t know where that girl went. Don’t know what intentions in the person had to harm her. And I came in that polygraph knowing that I don’t know anything, don’t know who will harm her and to take the polygraph, go through all the stuff. My nerves already fucking up. You explaining to me about vital signs, you hit me with the blood pressure. I got to concentrate on not moving my feet or this. You ask me a question about this girl and all I can pop, all things pop up is this shit on the news. There’s so many emotions. But would they hit me with something like that to scare me or like on some real life, would that like happen? Because it really bothers me to hear… Well, as far as I know I wasn’t there and I don’t know — listen, I don’t work with the FBI like that. I don’t know exactly how the politic, that’s what I’m saying work. But listen, they’re not going to lie to us and say you need to interview this guy again because he failed the test. That’s a waste of our time. I don’t need to be sitting here for an hour or two hours talking to you if you passed. I need to be talking to somebody that was involved. So, they’re not going to lie to me and say you failed. They told me you failed. You need to talk to him. This is not this to waste my time. Could I take the test again? Because it’s no like on surreal. I do not know with me coming in not knowing anything and then it says I fail. Makes me feel like it may be just that extra pressure need to be provided or something like that. But I’m really willing to do anything. Like I do not take no damn children for nobody homes. That’s not what I do. I go to school, I work when I can and I might do some other that I ain’t supposed to be doing as far as survival, like paying bills and stuff like that. But I’m not taking nobody children and harming them and I know this and I come in and take the polygraph and then it tells me I fail… The witness hints that he has been involved in minor illegal activity, but that he would never harm a child while he is just trying to be as honest as possible. It suggests that this might have been the first attempt at a kidnapping that went wrong. Certain parts it feel like that. Like somebody like I’m being [inaudible]. Maybe, do you have any other maybe guilt about something that happened in the past with you and Naomi that might be manifesting itself in this test that you think [crosstalk]. All I can tell you is when I’m taking the polygraph test, right? And he asked me these questions. My nerves is like, really I’m not really calm, I’m not even calm. I haven’t been calm because it is just like, I don’t even want to be around it. Like this shit is the type of that I pray I stay away from. When I got in trouble when I was 19 for some that I didn’t do because a dude decide he want to rob my brother’s friend and call my brother from my phone and tell him he about to do this. And I’m like, bro, listen, do not. And these folks brought me into this anyway. Like I have constantly always been put in some that I don’t want nothing to do with. Yeah. Well unfortunately everybody that lives in that apartment complex is going to be put in it. It’s just something that happens. We just have to go through the list of, I mean, thousands of people we probably have to go through. I mean, you see how many people we’ve gone through already. Let me look into this, what you’ve given me. Your timeline. If I can verify stuff through people, whatever the case may be, whatever techniques I have to verify your timeline. I’ll do it that way. I don’t see it necessary to do another polygraph right now. If all this matches up, then I will let you know that it probably is your nerves. But if it’s something that’s deeper and you want to get it out, now that you and Naomi in the past something that may have been done, said that might be making you feel guilty or giving you feelings now that you’re just thinking about them as they’re asking these questions. The only thing that really bothers me really is that this shit happened so close and it make me feel like I shouldn’t even said anything to these people or either had any interaction with these folks because this shit is serious. I don’t really know, I kind of feel like I put myself like with the — like I came in that knowing that I don’t know anything. Then this hit me with you lying, which made me feel like I just put myself again in some bullshit that I really didn’t know nothing about again. And maybe I should have said no. Then where would I have put, I’m trying to do the right thing. I don’t want nobody children to be gone from their mama house. I didn’t even know what to expect from the polygraph. Like the whole time he talking to me, that shit was nerve wracking. But then a person to say, well if you don’t have anything to worry about, you should pass flying colors. But it is clear that I don’t have nothing to worry about. But at the same time, still fail a test that’s like bullshit to me. That why I feel like am I getting took down through there for because I came forth about the boy using my phone. Like I told you, they’re not going to lie to me. How long have we been here? And I could have been out there looking for the real person. If you would’ve passed with flying colors, they wouldn’t have brought me in here like this. They’re not going to fuck with you like that. They’re going to think about the time I need to spend finding somebody I need to really talk to. If you didn’t do anything and you failed, probably shouldn’t take any more polygraphs again because something’s messing up when you’re doing it. And if you’re completely innocent and you’re failing, there’s something going on. I mean, there’s something in your mind going on that’s making it do that. That’s my understanding. Are they that accurate? Like he say when he answer something is something that shoots off a perspiration. But what if I’m a heavy sweater anyway? This is an excellent point. Several things could have triggered the test to indicate that he was lying and the witness should probably never take one again. I know what I ain’t did. I know I haven’t on that phone, but that just, that really bothered me. And then I was with like mentally like you know something you, I swear to God I don’t know anything. Don’t know what happened from that point of Wednesday. Don’t know what happened till when the news came on yesterday. I’ve been trying to stand clear ever since this shit first started. Like I really I hate that that happened and I don’t want no parts of it because I was already at one point in time facing life at 19 for some that somebody else decided to do to my friend and I was supposed to go to the military then and that was wiped away from me. And then I get out of that and have to go down the road for a can concealed firearm. Like this don’t never stop for me. And I be glad today when that stopped because this right here is really some bullshit. What do you go by nickname? JBO. JBO. That’s it. Who’s D? I don’t know who. You don’t know a D? No. Do you do tattoos? No. Okay. Is there ever D that live there at your apartment? I don’t know who D is. Okay. You know anybody that used to do tattoos that live down that apartment? No. All right. Give me a second. I might just have you sign this while we’re down at your car so I can get your tag and information. What we want to do is just get consent to go through your car real quick. Make sure there’s nothing in there. Then I can let you go and I can start verifying whatever the timeline. Y’all need to do. I’m trying to be cool that’s why I did the polygraph m because whatever y’all need to do, y’all could do it. But me going in there not having nothing to do with that shit. That’s why I said I’m not going to. And then this come back like that. It really mentally fucking with me. Because I can’t really fathom how did that happen? If it’s so accurate — but whatever y’all need to do, do it. Whatever y’all need to do, continue. Whatever. Go through my phone, Facebook, go through whatever y’all want to do, man, do it because I don’t know nothing about that girl coming up missing and anything happen to her. I personally feel like it’s some other shady going on with other people that’s closer. But I hate that I let him use my phone. I hate that I took them to Chucky Cheese, because you know me out there, feeling for my nieces and stuff, I’m a very emotional person. And dealing with a situation like with my brother and him not caring about my situation. You want me to bring you some money that I owed you or something like that, bro, I’m not going nowhere else in that park. But to my grandmama house, I’m not going nowhere in the vicinity, but to my house, Creekside, Jennifer to check on the kids. That’s it. My grandmama house, auntie house, that’s it right there. Creekside, my house, see the kids, that’s it. And that’s all I’ve been doing. And if y’all were watching the every step, y’all will see that’s all I’ve been doing. To take the polygraph test, like I said, and then knowing that that’s all I’ve been doing, and then take that polygraph test and then he hit me with that and drilling me like I know something. I’m really right now after today really even more in a fucked up place. Because I’m not the type of person that’s going to keep this in. Because I’m going to go and tell my people, man, y’all know I went and took this polygraph test and these folks said that I failed in these areas. I want y’all to know that they said I failed in these areas. So, they know I really feel like them polygraph test is some bullshit. They’re not accurate because if you give off this perspiration that they say, if you wanted no type of people that do that, then you are going to fail and you’re going to look suspicious. Even when you know you ain’t did nothing. Just give me a minute. Hang out one second. As the witness becomes more emotional, the detective starts to close down the interview. Robert Letroy Howard, the boyfriend of one of Naomi Jones’ neighbors eventually confesses to killing her. He claimed that she tried to enter the apartment of his girlfriend while he was there alone. And he became agitated and choked her to death. He then panicked and disposed of the body in a nearby creek. Four years after Naomi Jones’ death, Robert Howard was found guilty of her murder and sentenced to life in prison.
