really okay all right on the morning of De December 26 2018 around 8:43 a.m. Dallas Police rushed to a disturbance call at 9340 skilman Street inside the apartment they discovered a horrifying scene 38-year-old Latricia nishia Nelson was found in her bedroom stabbed multiple times despite Dallas fire rescue's quick arrival she was pronounced dead at 8:54 a.m. after an intense investigation homicide detectives identified IED 34-year-old Kenneth Ray Walker as the suspect but before the cops could investigate further within hours Kenneth walked into the Dallas County Sheriff's Office and surrendered you got a kid how many you got I got two oh I got a 14y old and a four month old okay I got and your mom where where your mom stay at uh she's in plan okay cool yeah give me a minute man you say you don't need no more water anything like that give me a minute it's going to take me a little bit to get my stuff together and I come in back in h but to take the W I'm be handing the case this to to find out what exactly happened out there CU I know things got bad out there all right so tell me let's start let's start from the top and tell me what happened so that way you know Kenneth is almost too eager to describe the crime which also highlights another emotion that can lead to Quick confessions it could be a desire to boast about his actions or take control of the narrative feeling empowered by recounting the details I had I had just did five years man I had got out of penitential in like 2012 and uh I was living with my grandma and my grand end up dying on in like 2013 that's when I first came down to the bridge and met her but uh I'm story short man you know she she she's a pretty aggressive girl you you know I put it like that you know and uh you know I got a 60 year old mom and you know kind of slower family you know so how I'm stringing my family along you know not doing it you know so uh you know I might get into arguments or whatever with lri but you know it came to a point to where I felt like she was punking my family yeah you know and and when you got a when I got my mom here 60 mhm I got a a brother who has seizures you know and I got this aggressive girl and and at the end of the day when we organ and you know I'm saying and I I can leave you see I got hand okay so and and when I leave and and I leave you know so sometimes when I leave you know I you know things Cal down and I come back you know and it be like that you know but uh it started it started to see like you know she was kind of punking me and blackmailing me you know you said blackmailing blackmail like uh you know my dad's in prison you know and she'll come with me with where you going to be in there with your daddy you know some old stuff like that you know uh man I'm not your mama I can't take care you like your mama you know just some kind of stuff out the blue you know and it's to the point to where I don't want to bring my mom around you know I don't want my family around you because you might beat up my mom and maybe do something to you you know you know and it's kind of blackmail because you know I've been a prison and my fight kind of different you know I'm going run from you because I don't want to go back to prison you know what I'm saying and and that that's kind of my little get there you know but you got some people that don't want to respect your mind you know and then turn into blackmail you going to be in prison I ain't your mama and brushing up against me beating me up and then it's starting to pump and I told him I said man one day you gonna get that fight out me you looking for man because you know I want to get in trouble that's why I really mess with you like that can't time for that fight Man Came time for the fight what so what happened understanding the motive behind a quick confession can be tricky but it often involves a complex mix of emotional and psychological factors the first and most appropriate emotion Christmas you know she didn't see son I we went through little CPS uh so you you you and her at the apartment yeah with Clyde you know CDE so Clyde that's her friend this guy she knew you know she was just holding it down for him you know he had been out there homeless so so she st40 you know saying he was pay stay there and the appartment that we talking about is when authorities already have enough evidence to convict a person there's always a sense of inevitability in this case the confession is almost a formality Kenneth may very well be feeling there's no point in holding back the P start or the argument this Happ yesterday on Christmas yeah so you know it might be something out the blue said man I'm I'm whatever out the blue and you know you know when I get the right jail I might come back with some well I'm chilling man I ain't trying to do all that you know cuz I know that's a fight for the story you know I trapped in the house and she likes to run out scream and get security you know sometime the blue you know she might say something fancy to me or something fancy and stand up go unlock the door and hold door and you can exit if you want you know like you know way man you Ain can't pump me man you because your your only motive is because I've been somewhere you have and and you know the place I don't want to be or I would rather not be I'm trying to stay away from so when it turns to black man I was like man you going to get that fight out of me man because you're not going to be punking my family and punking me in some cases a suspect May believe that cooperating immediately will lead to more lenient treatment confessing quickly could be seen as a way to gain some control over the outcome you know when uh I could have ran took off or whatever with uh now that the whole truth was out Kenneth Ray Walker was arrested he now faces a first-degree felony charge and awaits Justice exactly what went on at the apartment um so y'all started arguing was it at night time so on Christmas about you said 1:00 in the morning 1:00 in the morning today about 1: in the morning so y'all in the back so was Clyde up in there yeah he was in L on but I CAU her in the room you know I try to S the argument to the roomz I'm like she was trying to argue out there in the you the room yeah let you know and you know because you you I know what you're doing and I'm say man you going to get that fight out of me man cuz I getting tired of running from you you know and it's become to the point to where you punking me and blackmailing me man you know and and that's only because you know I don't want to go to prison man and you holding it over my head man so what did she say while y'all up in the room what exactly did she say was was started because cuz you know the the situation may heat M and then it'll die down and when the conversation dies down or argument dies down she throw something in there you oh so but you you want to make sure that y you want make sure you got it out yeah but it's because our say say we talking it's heated we calm down we friends again and I just have to do but [ __ ] [ __ ] what you talking about you know yeah kind of type [ __ ] you know just they going kind of trigger you and I'm like you keep coming me with this fight man we just calm down but you got some smart ass [ __ ] to say I'm going let you have what the you want you know that's kind of what my attitude well come so so that's when you said come come and and show me like I said just just show me I I need to know because the door like right push and she fighting I hit her Bo you hit with your fist first yeah but I had my coat in a closet had a little dagger in my coat that I hadn't found like a while back you know kind I had it with uh and so when she came up you said you hit her first she fall down yeah kind of and i really grabbed her and dragged her over there you know you drag what in the closet yeah to the closet so I can get my coat and get in my coat because me I'm not was this coat right no I had another C I'm like man I'mma go and get you out because it's not a fight you you you trying to punp me and it's it's ain't no it's an Argan so nothing it's becoming a punk and a blackma so she she would conscious at the time when you hit her she fa you drug you drag by her her drag by her clothes clothes she had clothes so what did she have on her something I don't remember okay so did you pull her shirt up off of no I didn't I just pull her you pull you went you got so you kind of pull B okay ver but but see the verbal it to us like whatever type and and so after you you stabbed her and cuz it was s she s m i stay till she di did you I did it to the girl really how how do you know she died I don't know if she died I tell you just she put the shirt over I just turn the light the door I seen to him out the front door what time was this about 1 2:00 in morning where where did you go to the uh train station yeah and what about the coat that you pulled out I don't know where the code is I went back looking for the Cod I could find it but but you definitely know where the dag is yeah all right um um as far as what you when you went you drove you got on train you left with a train you went straight to your mama house no I went uh I went downtown then I got on the um 110 bus to go to the that's my brother's house so you the door downtown right there you talking about right Ross in lar area i r the train to the the Pearl ARS District station okay and then I come up to the 7eleven on the corner of Commerce I I get on the 110 and go to uh Lea so I did that I got to my brother's house you know I told we they kind of ran up and they brought me in I told them I want to turn myself in so your mom did your mom can't pick you up from downtown yeah no she came pick me up from my brother house from your brother house you know what I'm saying her and Craig cook yeah okay they dropped me off at the store across the street you know what I'm saying not to long going to turn myself man but your mom you told your mom what have was Craig in the car when you told him uh I end up really uh I didn't I didn't get tell he was in the B when I told her we was on the phone when I told her what happened so she pull up number did you call from my mom yeah how did you call her my my brother's phone your brother's phone uh what about uh Latrice phone I her did you do you do you do you know do she have a phone a cell phone she had one but pH oh really it's not working right now it was on it was I guess so but you didn't take that phone no okay so you just walked out the door what you what did you have on when you actually uh I had on some jeans m I think I had on some black Swifts over the jeans I had on a blue shirt and a coat I got rid of the coat I couldn't find it I still got the jeans and um the black pants that my brother have okay I Chang pants before I came and the shoes the same shoes you had on right there when authorities already have enough evidence to convict a person there's always a sense of inevitability in this case the confession is almost a formality Kenneth may very well be feeling
