it's the middle of winter in Minnesota
and this state trooper is responding to
a routine car crash but he's about ready
to be in the fight of his life is a
suspect attacks him and tries to steal
the officer's gun this officer or more
specifically Minnesota state trooper
will arrive on scene to the car crash
shortly when he arrives you'll see one
of the car doors is open the driver is
gone and the vehicle is still in drive
the tires are spinning on the snow in
the snow bank thankfully a bystander
points forward to where the one of the
drivers is walking away from the scene
of the crash as always we'll have the

convicted of drunk driving went into
oncoming traffic went across the median
into oncoming traffic before crashing at
the end of the video by the way we'll

the incident was caught from multiple
angles at this time State Patrol did not
wear body cameras in Minnesota now they
do this is from the MnDOT Department of
Transportation highway camera which saw
the incident happening live when they
heard the officer over the radio
struggling for help
really incredible work by that Good
Samaritan who showed great awareness and
then hopped into action suspect has uh
three prior DWI convictions
and a prior drug conviction he we had
was four charges related to this
convicted on three including disarming a
police officer assault on an officer and
DWI fifty thousand dollars bond No
conditions in reality that turns out to
be about 10 it's 25
000 with conditions in in the real world
generally you only have to pay 10
percent of that and one way we know that
he did successfully make bail is because
two months later he was already arrested
again
