Initially just to enjoy some family time, but they have unintentionally taken first row seats to a gruesome crime they will never forget. To report the same gruesome site, 911 calls could not stop ringing. >> 911. What's the address of your emergency? >> Um, somebody just got stabbed. What's the address of the emergency, ma'am? >> Oh my god, it's at Chubby's Wings on A1A. >> Oh my god, there's more people entered. >> Okay, ma'am, don't worry. >> This call was made by an employee at Chubby's Wings in Ponttodra, Florida on a weekend on June 3rd, 2023. >> Chubby and you said somebody got stabbed. >> Somebody just got stabbed right in front of Chubbies. >> Spencer from the county 150 Valley Circle. She's at Mr. Chubby's wings advising that somebody was stabbed. Okay. How many victims do we have? >> There's uh two victims >> and one >> one is the suspect, ma'am. >> Yeah. No, three there. So, there's three victims. >> Three victims. >> There's two victims and I'm sorry, there's two victims and one the guy who was stabbing. >> So, but there's three patients. >> This nice family came out and was have their to go and then all we heard was screaming. >> So, they're they're outside. And the guy saw this happen and he came and his he literally beat his his hand is completely torn apart. >> So we have a fourth victim. I'm on the phone with 911 right now. >> In no time several police officers hit the road speeding toward the same location. But little do they know, the deeper they dive into this case, the more layered and chaotic it is about to become. John, back to all units responding to Mr. Chubbies. Paramedics have already reached and are trying to save multiple victims. But the hardest of the efforts is going towards the suspect, who cannot breathe at the moment. And from the story gathered so far, it is clear that he attacked two women in the parking lot while walking to their cars. While they're talking about Kennedy Armstrong, a stranger who is no less than a hero, as he jumped in to save the women, officers spot the manager of the chubby wings, and her story is even stranger. That that's going to be a proven right there on the corner. >> Even them inside whatever. >> According to the manager, moments before the attack, the victims, Madison Shemmitz and her mother had mentioned a man who seemed to have been stalking them as they dined with her friends. I don't know if the manager gave me the over chest about it, but it was a daughter and her and her wife or a mother and the daughter. >> Mother and daughter. He stopped them here apparently. And we didn't know at that point what had happened. And I go, "I have some towels in the back seat. I'm going to grab my towels." And then we walk up and my husband's like, "Holy shit." My husband jumped on it here like trying to help my husband. They were trying to It was um I arrived like second on scene and um I saw all this uh both all three of the individuals or four individuals were on the ground. One guy had us um I guess one guy was coming over here talking >> I guess story we got found on out and um >> the girls inside. >> Yeah, >> I don't want to talk to the servers. >> We need to hear this or what? They we already like took everybody's information for now, so we'll find out what um >> While talking to the witnesses, one of the officers realizes that the chubby wings are completely covered by surveillance footage. If they can obtain the footage of what happened, it would serve as the ultimate witness to the entire incident. And they aren't wrong because when the footage comes out, everything changes forever. >> She's going to bring her ID back out. I'll get it right now and get her number. Nobody else is inside. Shortly after, Madison was taken to the hospital covered in blood. But they are beginning to piece together a story that is far more disturbing. Just one small part of a long psychotic scheme. We do have one of them him coming out the door and him coming out after. >> Yes. >> So that front door camera is going to be paramount. >> Yes. >> And that's camera number. >> That one is camera number 14. >> Mhm. >> The cameras at Mr. Chubby's wings capture Madison enjoying her lunch with her friends and mother. But soon, her moment is shattered when a man she has been trying to avoid closes in on her. This time with a terrifying plan. Spencer had been stalking her for a few months, and some of these incidents were downright chilling. They disturbed Madison's peace of mind so much that she had to confide in her mother. Unfortunately, even Jackie was unable to make Spencer's parents see that something was seriously wrong with their son. Despite multiple reminders and requests, nothing changed. But what is about to happen in the restaurant today is something far worse. Spencer enters and Madison's face almost drains of color, as if she had been fearing this exact moment. And not for nothing. Madison and her friends decide to leave the premises immediately. Before doing so, they alert the diner staff, warning them that the young man may pose a threat to Madison. But that does not stand in the way of what happens next. And one of the surveillance cameras recorded every second of the horror that was waiting to unfold. Madison can be seen in the parking lot. Her mother is right behind and they have just said their goodbyes to their friends. Out of nowhere, Spencer gets into the frame and attacks Jackie first and then zeros in on his target. Jackie runs after them frantic, but he is stabbing Madison with terrifying speed again and again. It is not some sick warning. It is his endgame. But thanks to Kennedy, who was just passing by, he jumps in and pulls Madison out of it. Kennedy's hand is injured in the process. Immediately after watching the horrifying and yet absolutely clarifying footage, the police do not waste another minute informally charging Spencer with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons related offenses. It was attempted murder because Madison survived the attack. But this athlete lost function down her spine as the stabbing left her paralyzed from the chest down. However, it was not the endgame Spencer had in mind. The sport spirit of Madison encourages her to try and train every day. Months later, Madison walked into a St. John's County courtroom and delivered her own statement, standing face to face with a man who tried to silence her. is because throughout this process, I have carried myself with grace and truthfully, I have not opened up in front of others the way I'm about to. I say I am setting my pride aside because truthfully, I do not believe the defendant nor his family deserve to hear any of the negative ways this experience has impacted me, let alone get to hear all of the positive things I've done after it. I have thought about this day, this moment, this statement every single day for the last 538 days. 538 538 days of living in true torment. 538 days that regardless of the circumstances always had the same dark cloud looming over. 538 days of constantly reliving the trauma the defendant put me through. Your honor, I say 538 as that is how many days it has been since June 3rd, 2023. But the truth is the torment, the dark cloud, and the trauma I have endured dates back much further than June 3rd. >> Spencer later pleaded guilty avoiding a trial. But too bad for him, this was a courtroom and not his parents. on February 20th, 2025 in St. John's County, 40 years in prison, followed by long-term probation after release. Thank you for watching.
