Blood on the floor. Blood on the door. >> Largo police, if you're in there, yell out now. >> Largo police. >> What begins as a simple welfare check is about to turn into every officer's nightmare. A concerned family reports that Rnado Muj has left home in a fit of rage and may be heading toward his ex-girlfriend's house. >> Is there why why would we think that she's in danger here? >> Just a basic mom said that the son's having a psychotic break. That's all. >> At first, officers are simply trying to make contact. What they don't know is that they're already too late. Because behind one apartment door lies a discovery that will transform a welfare check into a homicide investigation. >> Body down. One down. >> On January 29th, 2024, what begins as a welfare check quickly turns into something far more urgent. Renado Muhaj has stormed out of his home in a fit of rage. And according to his terrified parents, there's only one place he might be going. His ex-girlfriend's house. >> Who's that? >> Just be advised. He's third floor window. Both of them on this side. Come on under. >> Let's just go. >> So, who's the >> Okay, so our suspect lives with his mom and dad. >> Okay. our door. This is his strange wife and his 8-year-old daughter who lives here. Uh, dad woke up or this bad guy woke up and father want to talk. It's like, okay, it's 2:31. Can we talk later? So, ps dad's face, breaks his teeth, dad gets up. So, some kind of struggle. She we had a really big line with Barry. So, I don't have all the details. They're down at the hospital right now. Miss falls imprisonment. Mom tries out the hospital. She terrified son stops her dad. says I got to call 911. Start to call sun. I just tone and they all run out of the house. The dad bloody knock on the house for help with blood everywhere over there. So we have tampering false imprisonment and mom said mom is terrified for her. Mom said I'm so scared. That's the only place you'll go. That's the only place we'll go. So >> okay, we got a bloody knuckle knife. >> Yeah. Um, >> do you know if there that was used in the use? Do you know? >> And it looks like there's some blood on the >> door handle, but there's really no dripping. So, unless >> this happened. It's been a machete. >> The machete was the machete to protect. >> So, the house hasn't illegal weapons and stuff. So I don't know if that changes exency to check on her. I am worried about her. None of us have tried calling her yet. >> You got a number on >> the there's one under the emergency contact and this is >> there why why would we think that she's in danger here? >> Just based what mom said and that the son's having a psychotic break. That's it. Right now, officers believe they're conducting a precautionary welfare check. What they don't realize is that two people inside, that is Renado's ex-wife and his daughter, may already be facing a level of danger far greater than anyone has imagined. >> I know that's a terrible one. When you guys called back and told us, blood, I'm like, >> is his car here? >> Haven't found one that I know of. >> Manny was looking for it. I don't know if you found it or not. >> You may have ditched it other side or somewhere else. >> And the door was open like that when you guys got here. >> We haven't Yeah. done anything with the windows as far as I know. >> The only other problem is we're not 100% sure that that's his apartment. That's what one of the neighbors is saying. She recogniz the one we were given is up top and there. It was a black couple who answered and we described him and go no he stays upstairs directly across >> and so we had a knife on the way and then we got it looks like >> the blood on the handle would match >> your issue >> so that's why I'm trying to either work up to exit or not. I mean, we're losing it as time goes on now, but if we think it's his blood, which we don't have any >> or if or if he brought the blood home. >> Yeah. Then we don't really have exigency for that. Unless there's some more articulable facts that I'm not counting up, then the mom's kind of concerned for her. >> The mom's just concerned. I guess he shouldn't be here. He doesn't live here. who lives with mom and dad being so hard to get >> and the guy's teeth all broken so it made it harder. >> Yeah. >> Continue to make >> knock on the door and see where that goes. >> This the only thing we when we got the call we didn't really have a lot of information. Yeah. >> First we didn't have anything basically. It was like go make contact with them. We're like okay >> because I didn't see anybody perform. I didn't see anything. So >> no we just wanted a welfare check. We heard from >> Okay. We can we just we'll continue to knock and we'll knock out see if that gets us anywhere and then kind of take it from there. >> If someone inside needs help, every second matters. With that thought in mind, officers head upstairs to continue the search. >> Loco police. I is Mahage if I'm saying that correctly. Home. Renato Mah. >> Renato Mahaj. >> No. >> No. They stay upstairs. >> Which ones? >> This door. >> All right. I appreciate it. >> Thanks. >> Family at this restaurant is advising us uh upstairs one more on the uh other side. So, we'll check there. >> There looks like the door. And it looks like there handle. >> We can't answer the door right now, but if you'd like to leave a message, you can do it now. >> Hi. Need to come to the door, please. >> Tell him no response. See if they can come up with a phone number for this or him. We got no response. >> Hi. Need to make sure everybody's all right. >> Officers have no idea at this point, but there's only one person inside the house, and the condition they're in is far more unsettling than these officers can imagine. >> Yeah, let's try. Once the ring goes off again, I'm going to check and see if the uh dead bolts through. I don't think the dead bolt's thrown. >> I think the dead bolt's out. Let me uh make a quick call to our fearless leader. >> I got All right, we'll see what they want to do. We got the knife block upstairs. He's This door is looks like blood on the handle. There really isn't a whole lot of grip, but it looks like there's >> here or upstairs. >> He's one more up. This is where we were supposed to. It's a black family who says no, he stays upstairs in this one. So, Knock. Hit the ring doorbell. Three different sets. We knocked using the ring doorbell three different sets of times. It says nobody's available. And if you want to leave a message, >> Kennedy, hang down with the knife. >> Hang down with the knife. >> Like stay. >> Stay with it. Make sure it stays there. [sighs] >> The time for waiting is running out. Officers begin preparing for the possibility that they're about to enter the house themselves. Have you guys both been in these before? >> Yeah. All right. You go in, there'll be a little dining area just immediately to your left. There'll be a a kitchen and a tall bar in front of you. If you go left, there'll be a bedroom uh straight left. And I'd probably have a door in it. Maybe. Um, there'll be another bedroom or two further down past the bar. There'll be a living room out in front of the bar area. They should have a bathroom the other side of the bar. I don't know if any of these have two, but they should have at least one in there. know for sure this is this place. >> She seemed to recognize names that this is where he stays. He used to live there and this is where they stay. >> While some officers debate whether immediate entry is necessary, others are focused on a different question entirely. What exactly are they walking into? Every scenario is on the table. A frightened victim, a domestic dispute, a dangerous suspect. The problem is officers won't know which one they're dealing with until it's too late to prepare perfectly. >> Danny may have come and gone, but >> doesn't make any sense. She's not answering. >> Unless that's what she's inside, dropping. >> That's what I'm saying. Although it's odd that >> it's on the outside handle. >> No, cuz anything hold it open. So, grab the handle, push it close. >> I didn't see any drops anywhere. just did a little bit maybe could have been a scuff on his foot and I saw march like all the way from up to the door. I didn't know if there was any like they've been cuz the wind to me like they've been like dry >> or maybe from the shoe like if he's blown the shoe >> but not a full print just >> and you said the door was unlocked right? I didn't see that the dead bolt was thrown. >> Right. >> So, he goes in and then kind of freaks out because when Steer leaves, drops a knife, it leaves on foot or takes the gold key because we never got that one. >> Yeah, that's that's what the problem becomes is if she's hurt or dead inside, especially if the daughter is then gone with him >> or both inside. What was the what's the scoop? What's going on with this guy? Any more details? >> Basically, he's having a mental break of some sort. Dad got her. Grandpa got in a fight and uh I guess he smashed him pretty good and took teeth out and really caused a mess. Now, grandpa was trying to defend himself with a machete, which there again may be where the blood comes from for him. He got it on his arm and it's dripping down or whatever. >> He could be hurt if they used the knife brass knuckles [ __ ] out of the grand. >> There's a ton of whatifs. >> Officers try again. Another knock. Another opportunity for whoever is inside to reveal themselves. What they don't know is that the answer they're waiting for may never come. >> You're good. Just >> still not doing something. >> Yep. [snorts] >> Largo police. >> Largo police. She's not answering at all. Chances are we're late. >> [music] >> the door right now. If >> you'd like to leave a message, you can do it now. >> You want me to go around and be the one that comes up and opens it then? >> Yeah, they got it. All right, you stay here and then as soon as we open, start announcing. >> Yeah, we'll just stand there. Let it breathe unless we if we hear something that's that's turning on going in. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Ready? >> Yeah. Got one on the other side yet. Blood on the floor. Blood on the door. >> Largo police, if you're in there, yell out now. Largo police can't see anything. I guess in the living room see a little bit of the kitchen. >> Yep. >> Got blood on the floor here. >> The bathroom. I can't really see much past the door, though. >> Okay. >> All right. Slow with high. >> Ready? Yep. >> Yep. Largo police side. >> Keep announcing. >> Largo police, if you're in here, sound out now. Largo police on the bed. >> Lot of blood on the bed. Lot of LGO police. >> The silence finally ends and what officers discover on the other side of that door is so disturbing that the entire focus of the investigation changes immediately. Now on my Patreon, watch the interrogation of a father accused of killing his baby. The detective snaps and starts hitting him on camera. See the full video at patreon.com/strangerstories plus >> Lego police. Body down. One down. Largo police. Is there a bathroom in there? >> Yep. We got a bathroom. Door's closed. Okay. If you can move a little bit, I'll get through. Someone call 167. Largo police. I'm clear. Closet. Clear. >> Clear. [snorts] >> All right. >> We're going to back out. >> Back out. >> Clear and check her her head or whoever it is. >> Go around her. >> Go around that side. Check the side. >> Nothing over there. >> Nothing. No, she's done. Throw throats out. Clear this one right here. >> It's going to be a water heater. >> Anybody check the balcony? >> Okay. Okay. >> Back off. Yes. Victim or female adult. >> Watch your boots. You got female. >> Yeah. >> Inside, officers make a devastating discovery. Suela is dead. Her daughter is nowhere to be found. And before they can process what that means, another update comes over the radio. Ronaldo's vehicle has been located. Okay, that's you right there in the minivan, right, Mike? >> DUDE, YOU BETTER GET OUT OF THE WAY. HEY, I want the shield on the car. >> On the car. >> HANDS. HANDS DOWN. HANDS. >> Right here. >> Right here. >> I want your hands on the glass, sweetie. >> Hands up. >> Hands on the glass. >> Pull it. >> Hands. Hands. Window breaker. Window breaker. >> Here. Somebody go. >> Put the window down. There you go. There you go. There you go. Perfect. >> All right. Who's got Justin? >> All right. There we go. >> Get on the car. >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground. >> Lay down. >> Lay down. Somebody on that side. Grab her. >> Turn him over. >> I know. >> It's okay. >> Okay, baby. >> It's okay. With a child finally safe, investigators turn their attention to the one person they've been searching for all along. Renado is taken into custody, escorted to an interrogation room, and advised of his rights. >> And I appreciate that, man. Like, um, all the officers said, "You've been super cooperative today. I had an opportunity to speak to your little girl. She seems like a like a really sweet girl. She's, you know, obviously she's safe. You know that you were with her." Um, so I just I just kind of want to understand what's going on. So, um, what how did you get here? >> Well, like we're in a situation where you're in handcuffs and you took your little girl out of the apartment today and it sounds like there's a lot of stuff going on. You know, I spoke to some of your friends. It sounds like you were in the process of trying to get your roofing contractor's certifications and things like that and things maybe go as according to plan. Um, from what they're telling me, they wanted to help you get through that, but you know, there have been some things that went on. There was an altercation with your dad this morning. There's obviously an incident that happened with your ex, right? So, I guess I guess all so I'm just I'd like to give you an opportunity to just kind of like say, hey, you know, I made a mistake or you know, this is what's going on. >> Okay. Well, let's start with what happened with the roofing license. What I understand you were pretty upset about that. >> No, it didn't bother you. >> And your your friends were all worried just because it seemed like when you when that happened, maybe it you just kind of disappointed that it didn't go through. >> Absolutely. >> I feel like the most bad to happen? Why am I here? Why am I? >> Almost immediately, Renado settles into a familiar strategy. The less he remembers, the less he can explain. And the less he explains, the harder it becomes to hold him accountable. >> Well, um, we got a call for a welfare check this morning at your ex, the apartment there at Bayside, four apartments. That's just making sure >> making sure somebody's okay. >> Oh, okay. I thought you meant that will they want they wanted us to go by and clear water called us because I guess there was a altercation with you and your dad this morning at your house and nursery >> and so you know we ended up getting a call to go there and to check to check on everybody and you know obviously you've got blood on your glasses, you've got blood all on your feet. Um, your little girl has blood on the the sweatshirt that belongs to you that you gave her. Um, there was a knife that was found outside the residence that had blood on it. There was blood on the door of your your ex's residence. Am I saying this right? Um, so what what happened in that residence today? You have no idea what happened in there. I'm not sure what's going on. Well, whose blood is on? >> If it could be a bunch of different people, who's it? So, you know why? >> Okay. You understand why? >> I I'm I'm looking at you. looking at the things that I just briefly saw on the scene because obviously we still have forensics et I'd like to give you an opportunity to explain what happened and like I said you've been cooperative I I'm not taking your lack of you know asking why disrespectfully and I hope that you're not taking anything I'm saying disrespectfully but you know why you're here you know why you're an ex you have your ex's blood on you you in front of your little girl, she can't. So, it's not a question if you do these things. It's not a question if you swell. The questions I have is how do you get here? Why why did that happen? Because the why is more important really why I'm trying to work backwards on how we got here. >> Do you remember going in apartment this morning? >> I remember like the last two, three months of my life. >> Why is that? >> Remember the conversation you had with your daughter in the car this morning? >> You guys talked about a bunch of stuff. remember any of it? >> Some of it. >> Not even sure. I'm not even sure why I'm here. I see what's going on. >> What is it that you do? Because you say you're saying you remember something. Like I said, I'm not sure if it's an illusion or it's a delusion. I'm not even sure what those words mean. Well, you have your ex's blood all over you. So, if you're having flashbacks of remembering things that happened with her, right? Might be hard, but I'm going to go with it's memories that you're having what transpired. So what is it that is when you said hey you were having flashbacks. So what what are the things that you were thinking? What are the things that were coming to your memory that you were having flashbacks with the flashbacks that you're having? What are they? I mean you're you're answering the questions I have with other questions. You're telling me I'm having flashbacks. I don't know if it's real or what's happening. My question is what are giving detectives much to work with, but detectives have seen this one before. Detectives can sense there's a much bigger story hiding behind the one Rnado is telling. >> Listen, I I don't want to I don't want to play games. I don't want I don't want to get on the surface of things. I've been very offended, right? And the fact is is that, you know, I already explained to you that everything that happened in the apartment, your daughter, she wasn't the things that you said, the things that happened. I'd like to give you an opportunity to explain what transpired because it's not great and you know when you say things like I love my daughter I love her and she told me she loves me back I believe you're right >> I believe and I believe I'm here because of that >> okay so what does that mean but I'm here She made the comment your daughter that you had told her that you thought her mother had a conversation. Do you remember telling your parents that when you left their residence? It may not be a confession, but it's the closest detectives will come to understanding why this happened. Knowing they're running out of opportunities, they will make one final attempt to break through. >> Your daughter witness everything. >> Do you feel Do you feel bad for them? You said you die for your kill. Does that >> do you feel bad that your daughter watched this happen? >> No, it happened. >> We're not asking you if it happened. It happened. So is dead on the floor. >> Your daughter, you tell me. She watched you kill her mother. That's how she's doing. >> She's a smart girl. She's a strong girl. So taking into account what she had to experience, I'll tell you this. She wet herself. She wet herself because she was so scared. She was [snorts] scared. She said that, you know, she she felt she scared of me. She taking her out of the house. You know, we got to go. We got to go. We got to go. I mean, she was she was scared. But you know what? She still loves you. You're her father. You say you love You say you you say you love you love. And I I'm a I believe father. I think that's something that's an instinct that we have, but she doesn't understand why you killed her mom. >> In the end, detectives may never fully understand why Suel had to die. Runo claims he believes something dark was inside her, but whatever explanation he offers, it can never justify what happened next. In the end, Rnado Muaj never provided the answers detectives were looking for. He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and several additional charges, ensuring he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Thanks for watching.
