Police department, anybody inside? I haven't checked that closed door back there. Okay. Hey, stand outside for me. >> Hey, hands, hands. I got hands up. Turn around, face away from me. I mean, so I would like to move. >> Where was he? You never saw him, never heard him? Yeah, he he he he actually acted like he was asleep, but he was asleep right now. This is the exact moment this man realizes that his cousin is a killer. What follows is chaos, confusion, and a discovery that changes everything. The thing that's weird to me is we got a lot of private >> We We got any lights in this house we can turn on? It just seemed awfully suspicious that he's in that room and slept through a gunshot. I don't know. That That seems unlikely to me. On January 26th, 2019, officers were dispatched to Moreland Avenue following a call that a woman had been found dead at the residence. Is he the caller? I think so. Cuz the door door is closed. Is it locked there? I don't know. Say he's the one who called her out. Partly open. Just confirm with him that this is the right house and that there's nobody else inside. Is this house right here? Are you the one who came in? Hey, why did we get a call outside? We're just making sure or not. I see her. Police department, anybody inside? Hey, can you come around? I just want to know what happened. All right, we've got a closed door in the hallway here. 10-32. We are clearing right now. Check Check that bedroom. I haven't checked it. Police department! This is 36-year-old LaTisha Gresham. She has a gunshot wound to her head, and while officers begin processing the scene, they don't yet realize they are not the only ones here. There's someone else inside this house. I haven't checked that closed door back there. Okay. Hey, stand outside for me. >> Hey, hands, hands. I got hands up. Turn around, face away from me. Put your hands on top of your head. 10-3, 10-3. Cuff him. We're detaining with somebody. Just move him back. Is anybody else in this house? No, sorry. I was about to sleep. You were asleep? Who else lives here? Uh What's the closest unit over here? That um yeah. And my mom got here first. 70-35, we got one apparently signal seven. We got somebody in the bedroom that she was right next to. 10-32 on the floor. We're going to need to see how they Do you know who he is? Yeah, he's already 10-26. In radio communication, officers use the code 10-26, which typically means clear. In this case, they are saying that Marion is clear, at least for now. As serious as these stories can be, sometimes you need a quick reset, which leads me into the sponsor of today's video, Freecash. Freecash is a platform where you can earn extra money [music] by trying out games, testing apps, and completing surveys. I know things like this can sound questionable at first, so I took a look myself. What stood out is how simple everything is. You pick an offer, complete the tasks, earn coins, and then cash those out for real rewards like [music] PayPal cash, crypto, or gift cards. What I personally like is the variety. If you're into mobile games, [music] there are tons of options, but if not, you can stick to surveys or other quick tasks. It's one of those things you can open when you've got a bit of free time and actually get something out of it in return. And for anyone skeptical, Freecash has a 4.7 star [music] rating on Trustpilot with thousands of reviews, which definitely helps build some trust. I'll show you some of it on screen so you can see [music] how it works, including how the cash out process looks. You can withdraw once you hit $25 and it's pretty straightforward. If you'd like to try it out, use the link in the description or scan [music] the QR code on the screen. You'll get a $10 bonus after your first game. Thanks again to Freecash for sponsoring this video. And now, let's get back to the case. 70, come over here and grab me a form, please. Hang on just a second. Not you, the other one. Oh, sorry. Hey, Josh, just check his ID here real quick. Just make sure what he has. Give me some light. I'm just going to confirm this is a signal seven. It looks like it. Some bullet hole in there. Yeah, there's dried blood over there. Yeah, it looks like it's been a while, huh? Yeah, and we got some uh Yeah, that's signal seven. Yeah, we need a rigor mortis. Yeah, we got rigor. Got some wet blood on the side, too. Where? On the right when you lifted that, you got wet blood right there. >> Yeah, and there's dried blood right there. All right, what else we need to clear still? Splatter up here. Okay. You got splatter on the door as well, and right here as well. Okay. I looked through there. I think we're good on clearing for people. Did you check that closed door on the right now? >> I went to check and give you all hands. >> Yeah. Police department! At this point, there was only one other person in the house, and that guy was reportedly asleep. But that doesn't stop officers from checking every part of the house. Sir, can I ask you to please step outside? We'll come talk to you in just a moment. This is just full of junk. I don't even think I could get back in here to check it thoroughly if I wanted to. Okay. Hey, how was he asleep in here? That just makes no sense. Yeah. Looks like we have fresh urine in the toilet. Okay. This man is Marion's cousin, and he is the one who noticed LaTisha lying there. Now, he becomes a key person officers need to speak with. Yeah, can we talk to you? Yeah. Right now, baby. I'm sorry. I'm from I got to talk to somebody before we leave, okay? Let me get your name, bud. I'm Clarence Woods. What What do you know about this? You just came over here or what? No, see, I work at night, so Uh-huh. You know what I'm saying? I left about 9:00 last night. >> Last night, okay. You live here? Yeah, I've been staying here for a couple of weeks with my with my cousin, you know. Okay. Your cousin's the one we took out in handcuffs? Yeah. Okay. So I get off work about I got off work about 5:00. I got here about It was a little after 5:00. Well, I work in Elberton, so it took me about 45 minutes to get here. You work in Elberton? Okay. When I got home, I knocked on the door cuz uh I knocked on the door cuz uh I was feeling sleepy cuz he he just didn't respond to the [ __ ] I didn't want to get myself in no [ __ ] so I think they were going to help me back. So, when I got here this morning, I called my cousin, his sister, and she came here and let me in about 5:00. So, at about 5:00, he came you let got let in? Yeah, about 5:00. So, me and her we sitting in the living room and See, I had this thing out here for about I was out >> You didn't see her laying there at 5:00? I seen her laying though, but at the time I was thinking that they were arguing. And he she probably was outside or whatever. I ain't I ain't pay attention to what was going on with the bag or anything like that because I just got right here and she laid down. He says he saw her lying there, but didn't realize she was dead. He also explains that this wasn't unusual. According to him, Leticia would often be locked out after arguments with Marion and would stay outside until things cool down. It's presented as normal, but it sounds anything but normal. Yeah, it's a little bit weird that he came in the house and sees her laying there. I don't know. How was she laying? Just exactly like that. I haven't got anything. >> Oh, she's like I'm trying to I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to walk in. >> Head's facing that way and she's just laying kind of prone with her hand up here like this and the gun's right there by her head. Y'all just walked into the hallway and then back. I just want to I just walked in the same things. No idea. At this point, officers need more clarity from Clarence because the more he explains, the less it makes sense. And right now, his version of events is starting to make him look less like a witness and more like another possible suspect alongside Marion. >> So, it's not unusual for her to be laying on the floor like that? No, but see, I never paid attention to what she had over her head. Okay. Did you go back there to check or no? I wasn't the first time I went back and checked it when I went back to the U-Haul bathroom again. That's when I noticed that she had the bag over her head and she had the gun right beside her. Yeah. So, I mean, I didn't know anything else. And is that when you called us? Yeah, I called right then. >> Immediately when you saw it? >> Yes. Okay. Who is Who's that that we have in the car? Uh his name is Marion Atkins. She lives here? Yeah, they they go to She lives here with him? Yeah. Okay. What was going on between the two of them when you left at 9:00? I don't know. When I left at 9:00, she he had been disrespectful. She he he he had been so disrespectful to my girl. You know what I'm saying? We coming out the hall, he grab on the booty. So, I'm like, "Man, what the [ __ ] is wrong with you, man?" You know what I'm saying? I was like, "Look, I don't know what your problem is, home, but I got to go." I went right here to my U-Haul packed. I gave him the key back. I said, "Look, I'm going to come and get my [ __ ] when I get out of work. I'm going to come get my [ __ ] and I'm going to get the hell on cuz You've been staying here for a couple weeks, right? >> Yeah, so I'm telling him I ain't going to let him trick me. The narrative he's giving is all over the place. And when a story lacks structure like this, it becomes harder to tell whether it's confusion or something being intentionally left out. And what they're hearing is a version of events that doesn't clear what was wrong with Marion last night and whether it could be linked to what happened to Leticia. My car just got shot up. All right. You okay? You good? Yeah, I'm fine. Yeah, I mean, this Marion it could it could be a su He has nothing to do with it. But it just seemed awfully suspicious that he's in that room and Oh, yeah. slept through a gunshot. I don't know. That that seems unlikely to me. Um he said that like I thought it was weird that he came back at 5:00 and saw her laying there and didn't go check on her or anything, but he's also telling me that the two of them argue from time to time and it's not unusual. >> Hurt in here. Yeah, it's not unusual for her to just be sleeping out in the hallway like that when We don't know if they got a peaceful having a bath or Yeah, I have no idea. And I don't want to go looking through my computer with him in my back seat. >> Right now, there's no clear sequence of events. There's just a victim and a house full of unanswered questions. At this point, officers still don't know what happened to Leticia or why. They're working with fragments, assumptions, and incomplete explanations. Where are you at home? I'm right here. I got CID [snorts] forensic here by the minute. All right. So, the thing that's weird to me is we got a lot of dry We We got any lights in this house we can turn on? Right here. Okay. So, we got spatter. Um I don't think that's really spatter. We got it on the door. We got it up there, you can see the red. We got a lot of dry blood for someone who claims that he was asleep the entire time in here. Same below her. Okay. Have y'all cleared the house? Yeah. Uh Marion, we turned the corner, the guy is standing there, so I had to run in. We talked him out of there. We got a 10-32 right here. What is the name? What's that for try here? We definitely have rigor mortis, so Okay. Um not too worried about it. This is not being treated as a routine death. The gunshot wound, the conflicting statements, and the overall scene all point toward something far more suspicious. If you've been enjoying the way these cases are broken down, consider subscribing. It helps more than you'd think. Now, back to the case. I'm going to say it. So, I took my car and go to work. So, he was disrespectful because he didn't like your girl? Well, I don't think I think he wanted to have her or whatever cuz, you know what I'm saying? I'm like, "What the [ __ ] you touching her for?" Okay. And you were planning on moving out at that point. You just didn't want to deal with him? Yeah, I ain't going to deal with him. So, you gave him the key back. >> him the But then you went to work. I went to work. And when you came back here, who let you in? Uh his sister. His sister? Who is she? Aretha Ballard. We were talking cuz we both seen her laying down. You know what I'm saying? We were thinking that they You know what I'm saying? He probably over doing it in the back anyway. Mhm. You know what I'm saying? She know what touched him and know what touched her and you. You know what I'm saying? Cuz it was like real it was pretty cold as [ __ ] when I got out of work, so >> Yeah, sure. It was about 20 minutes before she came and let me in. >> So, when you got here and you came in and you just saw her laying there and then you laid on the couch, did did Aretha come inside or she just opened the door for you? She came inside. She wanted to go for coffee cuz she was ubering. Uh-huh. So, she wanted her coffee. And then me and her was talking about him. Uh-huh. You know what I'm saying? So, I was like, "Look, >> Where was he? You never saw him, never heard him? Yeah, he he he acting he kept acting like he was asleep or he's asleep right now. So, we never thought any more about it because we never seen any blood or I mean, she had the bag over her head. After the interview, officers ask him to sit in the patrol car, telling him it's just to keep him warm. But in reality, this isn't about his comfort. What they're actually doing is separating him and keeping a closer eye on him. So, okay. Here's the story that I have. That guy has been staying here for 2 weeks. The guy over here, Marion Atkins, he and Leticia are going together. Not 100% sure if they both live here or if what the situation is. I think so. He's been staying here for 2 weeks. He works at night. Um had some kind of issue with Marion last night like about his girlfriend or something and you know, said that Marion was being disrespectful, so he gave Marion the house key back and was planning on moving out. But he had to go to work. So, he went to work at 9:00. Last night? Last night, came back at 5:00 this morning, but didn't have a key to get in. So, he called Marion's sister, who is Aretha Ballard, to come let him in the house. She lets him in. They both see Leticia laying on the floor back there, but they both think that Leticia and Marion just got in a argument and she was just sleeping out in the hallway. So, nobody goes to check on her. They think she's just sleeping there. So, he goes Clarence goes to lay down in the front. So, Clarence goes to lay down in the in the living room. Aretha's here for a little bit, but she doesn't stay. She leaves. Then right now before he calls, Clarence has to pee, so he gets up, goes to the bathroom, pees, and then goes to Leticia to say, "Hey, come sleep in the couch." But then that's when he notices she's got a plastic bag over her head. He taps her, she doesn't move. He touches the hand, cold, and then he sees the pistol. And that's when he called us. What about this dude right here? All I know is that the back bedroom door, right past her to the left, was closed. We were clearing the house. And as I'm looking at her and Chaps clearing some of the other rooms, that door pops open and I you know, We got We heard something on the radio >> right. And so, he says, "Oh, I don't know. I was just asleep." And that's all I've heard from him. Like a lie. He didn't expect to see anybody in that room. I didn't either. And you yelled it. I It's about Clarence cuz I already walked over there and he was laying over there. At this point, even the police are struggling to make sense of this version of events. The explanation isn't landing the way it should. But now, Marion's sister arrives on the scene and there's hope that she might finally bring some clarity to what's actually been going on inside this house. Do you know anything about it? All I know is we called up my first cousin. Okay. >> He was staying here with my mama. Uh-huh. >> And my brother ain't got no job. Right. >> Tish don't want to be over here no way, but he keep having her over here. Who's Oh, Laetitia? Mhm. Why isn't she supposed to be over here? She had bought it, but I told mama she need to check into it. She might have to redo it cuz it already expired, but >> bought it? Yeah. Why? Cuz she keep up [ __ ] She don't destroy her house plenty of times and threaten she was going to burn it down. Okay. >> With her in it. Okay. Yeah. So, I kept over cuz I thought it late, but then it was any peak time. So, I'm trying to get as many money as I can. >> Sure. So, I told him when he get home if he have any problem call me cuz I heard it was Junior disrespect him yesterday by grabbing his girlfriend's butt. Yeah, I heard something about that. >> he was going He gave him his key cuz he was when he get out of work he was going to come and get his clothes and leave. But but if he don't, you know, I told him well, Clarence, if he apologize and y'all work it out cuz that was very disrespectful. Um cuz Clarence real hurt. He said he don't know he can put up with it cuz they get into it all the time. They fight putting clothes out >> Who, Clarence and Marion? No. Junior and Laetitia. Junior is Marion. Is that right? Okay. So, um he said said he got there, you know, when he got here he was on the porch. He asked me where I was at. I told him I was on my way taking a customer client I picked up from Adams Ridge, a lady and a man. Uh uh-huh. Her and my boyfriend, whatever, but he was real bad out here. He had laid on the back seat. She got from me. Mhm. I had taken the camera all the way in camera. And so, I told him when they get out I'll call him back. I called him back. He said he can't get in the house. I said, "Why you outside?" So, when I I caught them with 5 minutes away from their address Mhm. so, I called him back and then when I asked him more questions, "What you doing out there?" He said what happened the night before before he went on his way out the door to go to work. Yeah. Him and his friend were getting ready to go out out the door when he pulled her butt and he said, "Man, why you going to disrespect me like that? Why you do something like that?" So, he he gave him his key. That. Mhm. And um he went on to work cuz he drives out there waiting on him. And then um so, I told Clarence I'll go, you know, if if he need when he get here call me cuz I asked him where he was going. He said here. He said he knocked on the door. Junior went on the door. So, he asked me where I was. I told him I was on my way back coming there coming home. And I told him I'm coming letting me in cuz I got a key. And I didn't want my car I called for Junior, but he said, "What you want? I'm I'm asleep." So, I said I ain't going to worry about it. We'll talk tomorrow. Oh, you you did call him and talk to him? Who, Junior? Junior. No. I came in the house with my car phone and I called for him. Oh, wait what? When you got here and let Clarence in Junior was in the bed. Junior was in the bed? And wait >> That's what he said. I ain't go back there. You called out to him though? Mhm. Okay. And then he answered? He said he was asleep. He said he was asleep. >> worry about it. Okay. Laetitia was laying on the floor. >> see her laying there? Mhm. Okay. You didn't think that was unusual? Hell, they fight all the time. Figured he just locked out. >> Okay. >> And then she do powder and they say uh dog food, whatever it is. No. Okay. So I don't know. I ain't see she go out do her wild thing Mhm. and come back to him there I you know she bust out one of his stuff trying to get make him let her in. Mhm. I don't know what went on before we got here. All I know she was in the house laying down. I ain't go back there. You didn't go back there? >> Uh-uh. I was on my car phone. I told Clarence, "Well, when you get up and Junior apologize you let me know. And if he apologize, he should give your key back." Now hearing a similar version of events from a second person, things begin to sound a little less unusual. The story starts to feel more consistent. And another important detail comes out. Laetitia had a history with hard drugs including cocaine and heroin. And her relationship with Marion was far from stable. Yeah, looks like she might have warrants. That's just on the warrants. 4 13 82? Yeah. Yeah, she does. Felony charge terrorist threats and acts, previous aggravated assault. Yes. That's what somebody was or Laetitia was saying she threatened to burn down the house with mom in it or something like that. Uh currently on probation. >> [clears throat] >> This is when she gives her local alerts. I don't see the signal 41 relation. Well, that's just according to her, so I mean it might I mean it's It might just not be in there. I don't know if that like this really matters. Sorry, it happens. Probation. Okay. What about Marion? Is he in there? Yeah, I think so. All right, this 5 1 78. She said girl came up from the hill. She was saying she's Marion. Marion's owner of the house. So, I mean they got the same name. Where's Clarence? Well, they refer to >> and battery They refer to him as Junior. Well, I mean yeah, he's Junior. All right. So, the Laetitia she had felony warrants for terroristic threats. She had and Yeah, well, I mean still has I guess. What's her What's her name again? Laetitia Gresham. Yeah, Aretha saying that they that Marion and Laetitia they just fought constantly. Tish has come over here breaking windows and stuff before and um threatened to burn down the house with mom in it. So, mom had barred Tish from there from here, but it might have expired is kind of what the vibe I got. Okay. Yeah, well, you don't have anything on him. Unless he has some aliases. But generally I would Yeah. Mine I suppose, why? I I don't know. What do you think about me telling Jared to take this guy over to East Precinct just sit there and get him out from all the prying eyes here? Well, I I guess Depends on Depends on CID. Yeah, I was kind of wondering if we Miss Ballard. Miss Ballard, after we get everything um situated, we're going to let you know what's going on. I don't care. I'm just saying >> We're going to Your Your son is not arrested. He He's just sitting over there. Oh, okay. >> We don't know what's going on cuz we just got here. >> He just told me he Yeah. And we're just trying to figure out who he was with. We We don't know what's going on. I'm sorry. Yeah, we got to talk to everybody. Yeah. So, that's where we at right now. Okay. >> So, who I need to talk to about what's Yeah, let me let me let me talk to you. Uh Do you live here or you just own the house? >> I just own it. I literally just did a quick deed on it. >> Oh, okay. How long About a month ago? A couple months ago. Okay. What we do We got a a scene right now. We don't know what's going on. We don't know if it's a scene a scene. A scene. We don't know what's on the side of what. So, that's what we're investigating. Okay. Okay. And we'll get you more information probably in the next 30 minutes or while we wait on detectives to get here, forensics Mhm. and the coroner. Okay. So, that's it. So, this is what we got going on right now. We got a call that they found somebody laying in the hallway. So, that's where we at right now. So, we're trying to figure out what's going on. So, who who all involved? I mean Well, that's what we're still trying to figure out. That's what we're trying to figure out. Anybody in the house? Mhm. The person that The The female Yeah, the female. victim here. What we're about to talk about. Yeah. Yeah. Where's anybody else? Uh we just got two people that um we don't know if they people of interest or whatever right now. So, we just They're here. One guy in the car and one guy in the other car, but um One in this car? Yeah. Yeah. We're not saying that he's a suspect or anything like that. We still got to talk to him. You know Can I see him? You can go over there and see him. You can't talk to him right now. No, I'm saying like can I see who in which car? Like No, no, no, not right now. But you can go right there to the road and look over. Go like where that red car is over there and look. But that's the farthest you can go. >> [snorts] >> By now, the scene is no longer contained. Neighbors and bystanders have started gathering outside. As time passes, more people begin to gather around the scene. Curiosity brings them closer. But the reality of what's happened inside that house is far heavier than what they expect. We got CID and the detectives on the way and they're going to talk to you, okay? Yes, sir. >> going to ask y'all the questions that that y'all have. What you said they got to He got to wait till the detectives Yeah, we got to put them back. They got to do the crime scene to Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. So, just don't go nowhere. Y'all just hang over there, sit in the car. They'll be here shortly. And then we're going to go from there, okay? We're going to go from there. Okay. The arrival of CID marks a transition. What was once a response is now an investigation. And from this point forward, nothing is taken at face value. What was the last time somebody saw her? Uh you will have to ask the guy that's sitting in the police car over here. Yeah. >> [clears throat] >> So, I don't know what's going on. Suppose there's another young lady out there with a black jacket on, young lady. She said I think she just sold the house recent to this the people that's here now, but they have a more information out there. Okay. And now officers are about to notice something small, but important. Because what they're about to find is the kind of thing that points them straight toward one person. Yeah. On December 8th um we got called from Marion that she threw a can at him in the face. When officers got here, it was like it was on 19th Avenue. Who called Marion in here? Yeah, Marion called. Um officers got over here. They couldn't locate her, so they were checking all over the place. They found that she actually lives on Bailey Street according to her O O N. And she had two locals then. Okay. So, she's been evading police since then. That's the most recent one. Any history between them two or we don't know? >> We're going to find in the system. I think this is cross reference. Say something when you come up to me now. Sorry. Huh? Silent like the night. I felt something, but Are you familiar with that scene? Huh? Are you familiar with Marion and Patricia? He's a nickname. You've never really had to come deal with anyone there. You got a picture? Can you pull a picture of her? Of her? Is it not pulling up? On the Did this guy have a driver's license with him? That's her right there? Yeah. I don't I don't know her. I'm going to say vaguely for me, but I don't think I've had any run-ins with her. I don't think. What's going on? What's going on now? Is she a family member? Yeah, you know that that's that's my cousin. That's Sheryl Ann Weeks' sister. I didn't know that. Oh. Who? Donnie. The the my my auntie got killed over there on Evan Street. That's my mama's sister's daughter. That's your mama's sister? Yeah, you you >> Daughter? Yeah, Donnie Donnie Well, Donnie Teresa Bell, that's the one that used to live on Spring Street, my grandma. Okay. That's her daughter. Okay. Okay. Okay. >> Yeah, man, I was I was laying there watching TV, man, they come in and told me that. I couldn't eat. Okay. That messed me up. Well, we we we ain't got the full detail where all of it is. We're still doing the investigation right now. Okay. So, we just don't We just telling everybody to hold back and we'll give you what y'all just need to know. I told I told what's going to happen right here. Yeah, I told you just wait. Yeah, that's all we got. Yeah, I have it. He's the witness. What relation? Yeah, that's Sheryl Ann. Okay. Yeah. Um right now, we don't know what's going on. We're still on the investigation. Um the rest of detectives get here, they're going to start questioning folks and we'll go from there. Okay. So, that's just that where we at right now. So, everything's still early right now. So. Yeah. Mhm. Mhm. You mean at 4:00 is what? Huh? And some more folks like I mean police officers and stuff like that. When it happened? Yeah. It is, but we got to question them to find out what's going on. So, that's where we at. Huh? Okay. So, you said of course Johnson probably Yeah.
