I’m Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly and I’ve got a tale for you. A Christmas plot to make all of Flagler County blue. As the Sheriff’s Office prepared for the holidays this year, there was much to cheer! We moved into our brand new home. Thank you, Flagler County. We no longer have to roam. But we all know that evil doesn’t sleep. Let me tell you how this dastardly deed was foiled, and how the Grinch’s evil plans were spoiled, thanks to Leo, our little elf on the shelf. The Grinch thought, "I can’t take it anymore! I’m knocking Christmas right out the door!" The Grinch’s plan came together quickly and it promised to be very sticky. He stole glue by the ton because he wanted at least one drop of glue for each little elf bum! Stealing that much glue is hard to hide, especially when FCSO incident reports start piling high. So a BOLO was sent agency-wide but no one who read the reports could figure out why. Our little elf on the shelf, Leo, decided to help and give it a try! Leo was getting bored sitting on a shelf all day and our brave Flagler deputies keep busy in all sorts of ways! So as Leo went through the reports, he spotted one big clue. A green furry creature always steals the glue! Based on that, the Real Time Crime Center bulletin was made and the result was clear as day. It was the Grinch, Leo did say. The detectives were aware of a big glue delivery and when the Grinch found out, he got positively giddy! On the night the glue was delivered, the Grinch shivered in anticipation. If his plans work, he’ll be famous for a generation! But as the Grinch snuck in to take his prize, the protectors in green gave him a big surprise. Hands up, Grinch! You’re under arrest! We got you cold on your glue-nabbing quest! So the Grinch confessed and was sent to the Green Roof Inn for causing so much stress. Christmas was saved and all the kids did rave as Santa delivered the presents himself, all thanks to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and to Leo, our little Elf on the Shelf.
