Today we're kicking off a brand new series, when people messed with the wrong cop, where every dumb move instantly triggers justice mode. All right, let's dive in. >> Oh my god. How did you do that? Oh my god. >> Justice never felt so good. >> Drop it. Drop the gun. DROP IT. >> POLICE. >> HEY WHAT WHAT SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. >> ON THE AFTERNOON of May 17th, 2025, in the 10300 North Freeway in Houston, Texas, USA, Houston police received a report of a three-vehicle accident that initially appeared to be a minor collision. Two vehicles remained at the scene, but a green SUV fled the scene, creating an unexpected situation. >> Okay. So what was your intention? You don't want to provide any information. You know it's against the law to do that, right? >> I don't want to I'm sorry, I can't. >> What did you hit? >> Who? >> Final update on the main 16 parkway. >> After police notified the missing vehicle, other patrol units located the SUV and its intoxicated driver nearby. When officers attempted to apprehend the driver for questioning, the driver lifted his shirt, reached for a handgun concealed in his belt, and pulled it out. >> HEY WHAT WHAT SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. 22 21. >> THERE'S NO shots fired. >> Find the crash. >> HEY WHAT WHAT SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. >> FACED WITH THIS IMMEDIATE THREAT, TWO HOUSTON police officers fired their weapons in self-defense and to maintain safety. Once the situation was under control, officers quickly moved in and provided emergency assistance while awaiting the arrival of medical personnel from the Houston Fire Department. Authorities later confirmed that forensic experts would complete the identification process. For many who watched the body worn video, the incident left a difficult question. Was this the fastest drunk driving investigation in law enforcement history? >> [screaming] >> Damn. >> On May 3rd, 2025, shortly after noon at a PV Quick Stop convenience store in Macon, Illinois, USA, officers from the Macon County Sheriff's Office received a 911 emergency call reporting that a 38-year-old man, later identified as Oscar McCurry, was allegedly brandishing a machete near customers at the gas station. What began as a disturbance report quickly escalated into a tense and unpredictable confrontation. >> Damn. >> Shortly after officers and a Decatur Park Sheriff's officer arrived, McCurry suddenly climbed [music] into a patrol car and drove away, circling the area until he collided with ANOTHER PATROL CAR. >> DAMN. >> HE THEN EXITED THE VEHICLE carrying a gun to resist arrest, prompting officers to react while repeatedly urging him to drop the weapon for leniency. >> Shots fired. Shots fired. Shots fired. Get down on the ground. >> For nearly 20 minutes afterward, officers continued [music] to advise the suspect to remain calm and maintain a safe distance, patiently observing McCurry until they could finally safely apprehend him. [music] McCurry was taken to the hospital for treatment while one officer was injured in the incident and discharged the same day. McCurry was subsequently held at the Macon County Jail while prosecutors announced on May 30th, 2025 that no charges would be filed against the officers involved. Potential charges against McCurry remain under consideration. Witnessing the events, many viewers commented the cop who got rear-ended had [music] the vibe of someone two days away from retirement. >> Stay Stay even with us, Scott. Stay even with us. >> ON THE GROUND RIGHT NOW. >> NO. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? NO. >> BECAUSE HE'S UNDER ARREST. >> In December 2023, police officers arrived at Eli Johnson's home in Bull Idaho, USA after previously pulling over his vehicle for allegedly speeding at 41 mph in a 25 mph zone. What initially started as a speeding ticket quickly escalated into a heated argument over personal rights versus police authority. >> Okay. Uh security, go get a search warrant. >> Yes. Cuz it's an infraction, right? Somebody guys just sent an infraction on him. >> Yeah. >> Uh >> he would talk to you. >> He said he would talk to you, but he's not going to talk to me. >> Elijah, I want to hear something talk to you for a minute. >> No, I'm not coming out there. This is my home. >> Okay, well, we need to issue the citation, so >> That's fine. >> Footage from body camera shows Johnson backing into his home, insisting the officers had no right to enter. The officers, including Sheriff Jeremy Engbom, repeatedly told him he was under investigation for obstructing duty and demanded he leave. Watching this exchange, one might wonder where the line lies between defending one's own rights and complying with police orders. >> You have passed the threshold. Get your foot off of my door. >> You need to come out here to finish this. >> an attorney. >> That's fine. You're more than welcome to. >> You have no right to come in here for a speeding ticket. >> Okay. >> Get your foot out of my door. >> But you're obstructing. >> I've already heard about you as a chief of police. You're crooked. Get your foot out of my door. I know you have no problem breaking the law. Get your foot out of my door. >> You're under arrest. >> No. >> Open the door. You're under arrest. >> Out of my house. >> Our house? >> Get the [ __ ] out. >> You're coming to our house? >> Open the door. You're under arrest. >> Or I'm going to taze you. >> Open the door, or you're going to get tazed. >> Open the door. >> You're going to get tazed. >> Open the door. >> No, he's not under >> He's under arrest. >> He's under arrest. >> Open the door. >> Help me push THE DOOR. >> NO. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? NO. >> GUYS, HE'S UNDER ARREST. >> After numerous warnings, the officers approached the door and attempted to arrest Johnson. During a struggle inside the house, a taser was used multiple times, resulting in Eli Johnson being submissive and handcuffed. >> On the ground. >> Get on the >> Stop resi- STOP RESISTING, OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET TAZED AGAIN. >> STOP. >> [screaming] >> STOP RESISTING, OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET TAZED AGAIN. >> OH, WE HELP. >> I'M OUT OF MY HOUSE. >> STOP RESISTING, or you're going to get tazed again. >> Put your hands Hands Put your hands behind your back. >> OH MY GOD, THIS IS NOT NECESSARY. HELP. >> Dispatcher 200 K's a department. >> Call Pastor Paul. >> Initially, Johnson was charged with multiple offenses, but those charges were later dismissed. He has since filed lawsuits against the police chief and the city alleging violations of his constitutional rights. While a judge is expected to decide whether the case will proceed, one audience member commented, "If you're going to go that route, don't open the door." >> Hold on. I can get >> You still got You still got that knife in your pocket? >> [music] >> Come on, leave that here. >> Come over here. >> Drop it! DROP THE GUN! DROP IT! >> [screaming] >> ON JUNE 14TH, 2025 at approximately 5:45 p.m. at 15800 East Arkansas Drive, Aurora, Colorado, USA, Aurora police received a call reporting a domestic disturbance. Investigators said the incident stemmed from a marital dispute. That very call proved costly for the husband. >> And his wife brings booze home, and when they get drunk, they [music] pick on me. >> So, it's your daughter-in-law and your son that are causing the problems? >> Yes. >> All right. >> And I want her removed from my house. >> And you said they've been drinking? >> They drink all day long. >> When officers arrived, the couple had separated and the husband had gone into the garage. As officers calmly spoke with him, he suddenly pulled a handgun from his toolbox. Body camera footage shows officers repeatedly ordering, "Put down your weapon." However, in moments of tension, emotions can cloud judgment and action. >> Whoa! Hey! >> Get back. >> Hey! DROP IT! DROP IT! DROP IT! >> GET BACK. >> DROP THE GUN! DROP IT! HANDS! >> [screaming] >> HANDS! HANDS! DROP IT! DROP IT! DROP IT! DROP IT! >> AUTHORITIES SAID THE MAN then pointed the gun at the officers, leading to a police-involved shooting. Around 6:00 p.m., an officer fired his personal weapon during the encounter. Fortunately, no officers sustained physical injuries, and emergency responders quickly transported the 58-year-old man to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. >> Get the gun. Get the gun. Pull your arm Pull your arm out. Watch the door. Watch the door from a distance. From a distance. Get him hooked up. >> Hey, I need my medical bag for my truck. >> In accordance with department policy, the officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave while investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident. For viewers of the body-worn video, one thought that might linger is talking with cops and casually grabbing a gun is crazy. >> All right, you're you're good, brother. You're good. Calm down. Calm down. All right, cool. Put your medical. >> Easy. Easy. I'm spinning out. >> On May 7th, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., near Preston on westbound Interstate 90 in Seattle, Washington, USA, a Washington State Patrol officer attempted to stop a Honda Civic for a lane violation. What appeared to be a routine traffic violation quickly escalated into a chase involving two brothers, a helicopter, and a series of risky maneuvers. >> The driver looks Hispanic, white skin, black hair. Wearing a white jacket. And there's two vehicles now in this And they're right in front of me trying to evade pursuit. We're at about 100 miles an hour. >> Investigators said the driver, identified as 21-year-old Victor A. Hernandez-Peredes, refused to stop and sped away. Dashcam footage reportedly captured evasive maneuvers, an unsuccessful push to induce intervention, PIT, and even driving against the flow of traffic at high speed. >> The vehicle is now kind of having a hard time driving. Exiting the high point. Sorry, we're coming from Highline. Where I originally stopped them. He yelled out the window that he has a cleared and he's losing control. >> Authorities said Daniel O. Hernandez-Peredes, Victor's 18-year-old brother, arrived at the scene in a silver Infiniti and repeatedly obstructed the pursuit, even positioning his car between the patrol car and his brother's to help his brother escape. >> The vehicle lost control, exiting the high point from Highline. Taking the 1268 vehicle pursuit. >> I took over taking from the Kirkland to traffic. >> 1268, we're starting a rolling slowdown. Okay, there it is, right there. Easy, easy. It's spinning out. Now it's facing the right way. It's in the ditch. Go, go. >> With the assistance of the Guardian 1 helicopter and Seattle police officers, Daniel was eventually apprehended and safe. Both brothers are now facing multiple criminal charges, including attempting to evade law enforcement, obstruction, and reckless endangerment. While investigators continue to review the events surrounding the incident, many believe they really thought they were in GTA trying to double-team the cop. >> 2950, 2950, please advise. >> Which side are you on? >> Which side? 4250, custody of the driver. >> I've got both in custody right now. >> I've got another 10-5. >> On May 26th, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m. in the 2600 block of Northwest 27th Avenue in Marion County, Florida, US, Corporal Gary Miller of the Traffic Division spotted a vehicle speeding by about 20 mph. What seemed like a simple stop quickly escalated into one of the most frantic chases ever. Corporal Miller activated his hazard lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, identified as 31-year-old Leroy Graham, continued to drive away. For several minutes, Graham maintained a normal speed before suddenly accelerating as he reached Interstate 75 on Northwest Blichton. >> [music] >> Dash cam footage later showed a multi-mile chase with Corporal Miller making multiple attempts to intercept the vehicle using the PT method, while other Deputy Sheriffs, Sheriff Ocala, and the Sheriff's Aviation Team also joined in. >> We're going to find another car. >> Yeah, 33. >> He's driving out of I'm going to need a big rig timer. >> The chase finally ended when Graham turned onto Southwest Highway 200 and stopped. In a suspected criminal stop, officers safely apprehended him. According to investigators, Graham later explained that he fled because he did not have a valid driver's license. Graham was taken to Marion County Jail and held on $5,500 bail, which he posted later that same day. Well, that's a dumb Florida man. On May 29th, 2025 at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Interstate 75 in Franklin, Butler County, Ohio, below Ohio State Highway Patrol officers were conducting a speed check when they spotted a red GMC Envoy traveling at 82 mph in a 65 mph zone. What began as a speeding violation quickly escalated into an unbelievable rollover accident. >> 1920 Roger Do you have a good picture of the driver at all? I believe so. >> She made eye contact with us. >> Traffic >> Off of 198. >> Right on 31. >> Right 31. >> Starting in that >> Dark water single file >> Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but investigators said the driver, identified as Jennifer Wilson, refused to comply. Dash cam footage shows the SUV continuing on the road for several minutes before veering off the road. In an apparent attempt to regain control, Wilson steered too sharply, causing the vehicle to flip over multiple times before coming to a stop at the median. In moments like these, a few seconds of panic can sometimes outweigh years of driving experience. >> [music] >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Uh fire hydrant or >> As emergency responders rushed to the scene, a passing nurse stopped to help before the official medical team arrived. Wilson sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for examination. Following medical care, Wilson was arrested and is now facing several charges, including driving under the influence, failing to comply with a legal order, and losing control of a vehicle. Investigators have also linked her to a hit-and-run accident earlier that day in Montgomery County. Massive shout-out to that ICU nurse who pulled over to help out. God bless her. On September >> 14th, 2022 at approximately 1:25 p.m. in Savannah, Georgia, USA, a Georgia State Patrol officer spotted a white Ford Taurus whose driver appeared to be distracted by a cell phone. When the officer activated his lights and siren, the driver refused to stop, turning a routine traffic stop into a dangerous chase. Dash cam footage shows the Taurus repeatedly driving against traffic, weaving between vehicles, and speeding through intersections. The officer slowed down several times to protect other drivers even as the suspect created further distance. Watching the video, it's hard not to wonder how quickly a single misstep can put so many people in danger. The chase ended after the Taurus entered an intersection at a red light and collided with other vehicles. Officers quickly cordoned off the scene and requested medical assistance. Investigators later found a loaded handgun, suspected marijuana, cash, and other items inside the vehicle. My main concern is my family driving with nut jobs on the road like this. >> No, no, hold on. I got you. Hold on a minute. You Louis. What's your phone number? >> 912 >> Uh-huh. >> Bro. >> On June 4th, 2026, along Interstate 40 in Tennessee, USA, a state trooper was dispatched to reports of a reckless driver traveling eastbound near the 209 mile marker. As additional information came in, the trooper positioned near mile marker 221 and waited for the vehicle to approach. At first glance, it looked like another traffic stop, but the driver's condition would quickly raise serious concerns. When the vehicle came into view, it was traveling between 60 and 70 miles per hour. The trooper activated emergency lights and attempted to initiate a stop, but the driver showed no response. As he pulled alongside the vehicle several times, he noticed the driver appeared slumped over and unaware of the surrounding traffic. Concerned that a medical emergency might be unfolding, officers continued following the vehicle for nearly 17 miles while repeatedly trying to gain the driver's attention using sirens and different warning signals. 12 9, could be a lunch break. >> Additional units soon join the operation. Officers attempted several methods to safely stop the vehicle, including spike strips and a rolling box maneuver. >> We made it. We are getting in the left lane. One is in the left lane. We're going to back off. She's in the left lane. We haven't kissed the traffic. What you got to say right now? Forced her down the road when I'm in front of her. I feel like she may be able to stop. I believe it. >> The vehicle initially came to a stop, giving everyone hope that the situation was ending peacefully. However, the driver suddenly accelerated again, making contact with two patrol vehicles before continuing forward. >> She's still trying to go over the median. >> With public safety becoming a growing concern, officers carried out a tactical vehicle intervention. The maneuver caused the vehicle to spin and overturn, finally bringing the incident to an end. >> Hey, forced her to suggest >> I have to do the VR. Okay. >> Officers immediately rushed to the vehicle, assisted the driver out, and requested emergency medical services. The driver, later identified as Regina Blaker Hall, received treatment at the scene before being transported by air for further evaluation. Authorities later issued misdemeanor charges related to the incident. Looking back, the event highlights how uncertainty on the road can quickly evolve into a complex emergency requiring patience, coordination, and constant concern for public safety. On March 31st, 2022 at approximately 2:30 a.m. in Bluffton and Elyria, Ohio, USA, law enforcement agencies launched a large-scale pursuit following a tragic incident involving Bluffton police officer Dominic Francis. Authorities reported that the suspect vehicle had struck the officer while he was deploying stop sticks on the interstate. What followed would become a lengthy multi-jurisdictional chase captured on dashcam footage. As the suspect continued fleeing, officers from multiple jurisdictions coordinated their efforts across highways, city streets, and busy traffic corridors. Air support was also brought in to help track the vehicle from above. Throughout the pursuit, radio traffic revealed constant communication between units as they monitored traffic conditions and searched for the safest way to bring the situation under control. One of the biggest challenges facing officers was balancing public safety with the need to stop the fleeing vehicle. Several discussions took place regarding whether a PIT maneuver could be safely performed, but heavy traffic and road conditions repeatedly complicated those decisions. As the chase stretched on, the pressure mounted for everyone involved. How do officers stop a dangerous pursuit without creating even greater risks for innocent drivers nearby? >> 1721 South >> The pursuit eventually came to an end in Elyria, where officers successfully took the suspect into custody. Looking back, the incident highlighted the remarkable level of coordination required during high-risk pursuits, as well as the challenges officers face when every decision can impact public safety. It also serves as a reminder that attempts to flee often lead to more serious consequences, while placing countless lives at risk along the way. >> The person with that gun point right now, we're getting them out by gun point. >> On February 26, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m. in Texarkana, Arkansas, USA, state troopers learned that local officers were pursuing a gray Volkswagen connected to a reported shoplifting incident. The vehicle had already been seen running red lights and driving erratically through the city. What started as a property crime investigation was quickly turning into a serious public safety concern. Within minutes, troopers spotted the vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 30 and moved in behind it. When emergency lights and sirens were activated, the driver refused to stop. Instead, the vehicle accelerated, weaving through traffic, crossing lane markings, and using the shoulder to pass other motorists. Speeds continued to climb, eventually exceeding 130 mph. For drivers sharing the road that day, the danger was impossible to ignore. >> [screaming] >> The pursuit continued onto US Highway 67 where the suspect vehicle ignored traffic controls and kept driving recklessly. With the risk to the public growing by the second, Corporal Glendon Flowers executed a tactical vehicle intervention near the 15-mile marker. The maneuver caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn. After coming to a stop, officers carefully approached and began issuing commands while securing the scene. In moments like these, everyone hopes the situation can end without further harm. The driver, later identified as Takosa El Moss, was taken into custody and evaluated by medical personnel before being transported to a hospital. Authorities later announced felony charges related to the pursuit. Looking back, the incident demonstrates how quickly a decision to flee can escalate into a dangerous chain of events, placing countless motorists, officers, and bystanders at risk along the way. >> All right, let's go to route. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Y'all Y'all want to go all the way to the back door on the other side? Or where it's open? I don't see nothing. Air bags look to to be deployed. >> On February 21st, 2024 at approximately 8:25 p.m. in Niles, Michigan, USA, a Michigan State Police Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a red Kia after noticing a defective brake light. During the stop, officers discovered that the driver, 32-year-old Joshua Ringel of South Bend, Indiana, had an active warrant related to an assault case. What began as a simple traffic enforcement action was about to escalate far beyond anyone's expectations. >> All right. Just leave your stuff in here. We'll go ahead and get it here in a minute, okay? Watch out for your keys. They're about to fall off your lap. Oh, they are you? Okay. All right. >> As officers attempted to take Ringel into custody, a physical struggle broke out. Despite the trooper's efforts, Ringel managed to return to the vehicle where a female passenger was also seated. Officers reported that a Taser was deployed, but before the situation could be resolved, Ringel suddenly drove away, triggering a pursuit that crossed state lines into Indiana. With each passing mile, the risks continued to grow. >> The pursuit eventually entered South Bend, where officers from multiple agencies joined the operation. During the chase, Ringold's vehicle collided with a police cruiser that was attempting to deploy stop sticks. Shortly afterward, he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot toward a wooded area near the St. Joseph River. What followed was a tense search involving drones, K9 units, and a SWAT team. In moments like these, uncertainty often becomes the greatest challenge for everyone involved. After an extensive search, authorities located Ringold near an embankment by the river. The female passenger was found unharmed and was not taken into custody. One officer involved in the incident received minor injuries and later recovered. The case remains under investigation, while the events serve as another reminder that a single decision to flee can quickly set off a chain reaction affecting countless lives, resources, and communities. >> Here for 30. >> You're going to get shot. PUT IT DOWN. COME. PUT IT DOWN. >> ON JULY 4TH, 2025 at approximately 12:20 p.m. in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, officers responded to a home on South Branch Drive SW after 21-year-old Jerry Maldonado requested assistance regarding a family dispute. >> Police department. Albuquerque police. >> As Officer Dominic Sanchez approached the front door, he clearly identified himself as a police officer. Moments later, Maldonado opened the door holding what appeared to be a handgun. In situations like this, officers often have only seconds to assess what they are seeing. Could anyone be completely certain under that kind of pressure? >> Put it down. PUT IT DOWN. PUT IT DOWN. PUT IT DOWN. You're going to get shot. PUT IT DOWN. COME. PUT IT DOWN. PUT IT DOWN. PUT IT DOWN. YOU'RE ALL RIGHT. HANDS UP. HANDS UP. >> Believing there was an immediate threat, Sanchez responded with force. Maldonado was injured and later taken for medical treatment. Body cam footage later revealed that the object was actually an airsoft BB gun. The video also showed Maldonado smiling and switching the replica between hands shortly before the encounter escalated. A woman inside the home reportedly shouted that it was a toy, though officers stated they did not hear the warning. >> You need to get through the air. Shots fired. Shots fired. ROLL ON YOUR STOMACH. ROLL ON YOUR STOMACH. >> YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE? >> ROLL ON YOUR STOMACH. >> Maldonado remained hospitalized while recovering from his injuries. Investigators later reviewed his background, including previous unusual emergency calls and documented developmental challenges. The incident remains under review as authorities determine whether policies were properly followed. It serves as a powerful reminder that a single misunderstanding can change the course of an ordinary day in an instant. >> Roll on your stomach. >> You're [ __ ] stupid. >> Roll on your stomach. >> On July 12th, 2025, in Amherst, New York, USA, officers were dispatched to a residence on North Bailey Avenue following reports of a domestic disturbance. Before arriving, they learned that the individual involved, 26-year-old Raequan Grant, had two active warrants. What began as a routine response would soon unfold at a breathtaking pace. Lieutenant Matthew Labuglio and Officer Aiden Bangalov attempted to contact Grant from outside the residence, but only moments later, Grant suddenly emerged from a rear window. He was holding two knives and immediately rushed toward [music] the officers. In situations like these, every second matters and every decision carries weight. Officer Bangalov sustained injuries to his arm and shoulder during the encounter. Lieutenant Labuglio attempted to stop the advance with a taser, but the effort was unsuccessful. As the situation continued to escalate, Bangalov managed to create some distance and the officers responded to bring the confrontation under control. Investigators later reported that only about 6 seconds passed from the moment Grant emerged from the window until the critical incident reached its peak. >> Shots fired. We have one suspect down. >> Once the danger had been contained, the officers immediately shifted their focus to providing aid. Medical kits were brought to the scene. Emergency assistance was requested and first aid efforts began within moments. Both Grant and Officer Vangelov were transported to the hospital for treatment. The incident serves as a reminder of how quickly a call for service can transform [music] into a life-changing event, leaving lasting consequences for everyone involved. >> do a seal sweep. >> Yep. >> Get it on that. All right. >> Careful, I'm not seeing where the other white vehicle is. I think it's a van. >> Yep. All right, you good? Let me check it out. Hold on. >> On April 21st, 2025, shortly before 10:00 a.m. in Concord and San Jose, California, USA, two suspects entered the Diablo Valley Federal Credit Union on Detroit Avenue and threatened employees with a firearm before leaving with stolen money. What followed was not just an escape attempt, but a chain of dangerous events stretching across multiple cities and highways. >> Where to go? Where? >> Hey, hey, hey, so I got him. He's trying to carjack someone. >> Hey! Let me see your hands! Hey! >> As the suspects left the area, Concord police quickly located their vehicle. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated away, triggering a lengthy pursuit southbound on Interstate 680. Heavy traffic soon turned the situation even more chaotic. When the suspects' vehicle became disabled, they forced two separate drivers out of their cars and continued fleeing. >> Stalled out. He's got a mask on. We're flipping a U-turn. Going back on stage. Sorry, my bad. Now they're back on money, southbound money, southbound money. Occupied times one. Uh, he's got a mask on. I couldn't really see if there was anybody else in the apartment. Mostly he's solo. Going about 70 mph. >> The pursuit eventually reached San Jose, where the second stolen vehicle collided with another car and could go no further. >> No. >> Okay. >> He's got his arms up. >> Just CC'd with somebody right in front of 880. Suspect is uh TWO SUSPECTS RUNNING. >> BOTH SUSPECTS THEN FLED ON FOOT. One of them, later identified as 29-year-old Cruz Vargas, was seen carrying a handgun that investigators later described as illegally modified and equipped with a large-capacity magazine. Officers continued pursuing him through the area and observed him attempting to take another vehicle. At that moment, an officer intervened, bringing the pursuit to an end. Vargas was taken into custody and immediately received medical attention. >> Get on the ground now. Get on the [ __ ] ground now. [ __ ] >> Meanwhile, a large-scale search led officers to the second suspect, 21-year-old Elijah Phillips, who was later found carrying the money linked to the original incident. Investigators later learned that Vargas was on parole for a previous vehicle-related offense, while Phillips had active warrants connected to other cases. Prosecutors subsequently filed multiple charges, including armed theft, unlawful vehicle takings, and weapons-related violations. It is another reminder that attempts to evade responsibility often lead to far greater consequences. >> Um, give me your other arm. >> I got one outstanding suspect at the last location. >> That's him. >> DROP THE [ __ ] KNIFE. >> ON JUNE 7TH, 2025 at approximately 3:30 p.m. in Orlando, Florida, USA, deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a 30-year-old man reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis. Before arriving at the residence, deputies met with the man's mother to gather more information, who said her son had not been taking his medication and was acting unpredictably in the neighborhood. She believed there were no weapons inside the home because potentially began as a welfare check would soon become a rapidly unfolding emergency. However, when deputies arrived, the man's father informed them that his son, Terry Washington Jr., was inside a bedroom and was holding a knife. Officers spent several minutes attempting to communicate with him and encourage a peaceful conversation. >> Is there any weapons in there? >> He does have a knife or something. >> He has a knife? >> He has a knife? >> I think you took it from him, yeah. This morning. >> That's cut proof, technically. >> TJ, it's the Sheriff's Office. Come on out and talk to us, buddy. You're not in any trouble. TJ, we just want to talk to you. >> We just want to talk to him. >> TJ. Come on out and talk to us. TJ. Let's talk. What up? Drop that [ __ ] knife. >> After approximately 5 minutes, Washington suddenly exited the room and rushed toward one of the deputies. Investigators later stated that the entire confrontation unfolded in about a second. During the struggle, Washington reportedly swung the knife and reached toward the deputy's firearm. Faced with an immediate threat and little time to react, the deputy responded to stop the advance. It was one of those moments where events moved faster than anyone could fully process. >> [snorts] >> Once the situation was brought under control, deputies immediately began providing medical assistance and remained with Washington until paramedics arrived. He was transported to a hospital while the injured deputy also received treatment for injuries sustained during the encounter. The incident remains a sobering reminder of how mental health crises can escalate without warning, affecting families, first responders, and everyone involved in ways that last far beyond a single day. >> Shots fired. >> From high-speed pursuits to moments where decisions go too far, these real stories remind us that every action carries consequences.
