Kill the ground. Kill the ground. >> [ __ ] >> Hey, adrenaline junkies. Welcome to Police Chase. Today, we're kicking off a brand new series. When people messed with the wrong cops, where every dumb move instantly triggers justice mode. All right, let's dive in. on the ground. >> On the ground. >> On October 5th, 2024, at approximately 5:16 p.m., store security in Santa Monica, California, USA, flagged down a nearby downtown services unit officer about a robbery that had just occurred. A store employee had been shoved to the ground and a box of kitchen knives stolen. The box was later found abandoned with one 8-in chef's knife missing. The suspect, 28-year-old [music] Di Abdelhadi Halabi from New York, was already moving through the area with that knife hidden on him. A separate officer was standing at the front of the police station collecting information about an unrelated call when Halebe walked up to him at the front doors. >> Let me let me talk to them first and then we can talk. Is that okay? >> Were they here? >> I was here first. Yes. I just want you to know >> what's in your jacket. I don't want I'm kind of I'm kind of nervous for your hanging jack. >> You're nervous? >> Yeah. >> The officer asked him to wait. Without warning, Halebe pulled the knife from his clothing and attacked, slashing and stabbing the officer before he could react. The wounded officer moved away, drew his duty weapon, and retreated around the corner of the building. Kill the ground. >> Kill the ground. >> Hale followed him around the corner, continuing the attack. An officer involved shooting occurred at that location. Santa Monica officers rendered medical aid to Haleba until the fire department arrived and took over life support efforts. The stabbed officer spent one night in hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. in front of you. >> I got one at gunpoint. Aanita Masalon, guns facing northbound. Uh, send an ambulance. >> The stolen knife was recovered. Halea had walked through the area with it hidden [music] after pushing a store employee to the ground and then attacked an officer standing at the entrance of a police station. The location alone made no difference to what happened. When someone has already made up their mind, nowhere is safe enough. Snip. Snip. >> Hey, I'm hurt. I'm stabbed. I'm stabbed. >> [ __ ] You're getting shot. On June 24th, 2026, at approximately 2:54 p.m., New Britain Police Department officers in New Britain, Connecticut, USA, responded to 911 calls about shots fired at 15 Union Street, finding spent shell casings in the street and bullet holes on the exterior of a residence. 9 minutes later, another 911 call came in about two masked males in hoodies acting suspiciously near a TD Bank branch at 178 Main Street. Officers moved toward the area and spotted two males matching the description. When they tried to stop them, both ran. >> Oh [ __ ] >> Stop. >> Oh [ __ ] >> Shots fired. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. >> The chase pushed into a parking lot adjacent to one Herald Square. Officer Joseph Mil Homeman's pursued on bicycle while officer Jillian Corwek, Detective Netherman, and Sergeant Michael Slavven followed in an unmarked vehicle. In the parking lot, one of the males turned and fired a shot directly at Detective Netman, who was the closest to him. Netman returned fire from his duty weapon, striking the suspect multiple times. A handgun and spent casing were recovered where he fell. >> Clear. The wounded suspect, a 17-year-old New Britain resident who cannot be publicly identified due to his age, was taken into custody and transported to hospital where he is expected to survive. The second male was tackled in the same parking lot by officer Milman's and taken into custody. He was identified as 18-year-old Osain Gail of New Britain and found to be carrying a handgun with a high-capacity magazine. The 17-year-old was charged with criminal attempt at assault in the first degree, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit. Gail was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and interfering with an officer. Two masked suspects, two handguns, a shooting at a residence 9 minutes earlier, and a detective who had not yet put on his vest when the second gunshot came his way. SHOTS FIRED. SHOT FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. Shots fired. Jeff, >> you good? He had three active warrants, was reported to be on drugs, and was armed with a machete. Officers began searching the area and quickly picked up his trail near a storage shed. >> Oh, grab it. >> I'll put the dog back up. I'll put the dog back up. >> Never worked for you. >> Put your hands up. I got a call of a man with a gun. Officers in Illinois, USA, responded to a 911 call about a man with a gun. When they arrived and located 48-year-old Lotus, he was standing with a pistol visible in a holster on his waistband. Officers drew their weapons and ordered him to put his hands up. Instead, Lotus removed the gun from the holster and began walking around with it in his hand, ignoring every command given to him. >> Put your hands up right now. Put your hands up right now. >> Remove him from the car. Take her Take him from the car. He might have a gun. I would get her out the car or drive off. One or the other. >> Do not PUT TAKE YOUR HAND OFF THE GUN. >> Take your hand. I got called here. >> Take your hand off the gun right now. I got called here for the man with a gun. >> YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR A GUY who got information. >> Okay. Can you I can listen to that. If you will take your hand off the gun. >> Tase him. >> Put the gun down. The standoff stretched on as officers repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapon while attempting to deescalate. A taser was deployed, but only one probe made contact, leaving Lotus still mobile and still armed. He eventually got back into his car and drove away. >> That's my name. >> Hey, I live where my car Officers located the vehicle again shortly after and initiated a second stop. He's parked over by county. >> With your hands up. With your hands up. >> Is your firearm in that pouch? >> Leave the dog in the car. >> Sir, stop. Stop moving. Stay right there. Stay right there. Just stay right there. >> During the second stop, Lotus refused commands to exit without the gun and continued to move toward officers. A second taser deployment was successful, bringing him to the ground. >> Please. Let's go. Grab it. >> Put the dog back up. >> I'll put the dog back. >> That wouldn't work. >> He was taken into custody. A search of his vehicle uncovered a rifle inside the car in addition to the pistol he had been carrying. His dog, which was inside the vehicle, was unharmed and taken to Oak Forest Animal Control. >> Check this power. >> I don't have it on me. It's in the car. >> I just want to make sure. Right. >> I didn't come out. >> You did the first time. >> 1 2 3. >> Supposed to be a quiet Sunday, sir. >> Yep. >> Lotus was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault, and seven counts of resisting a peace officer. Officers had spoken to him calmly, repeated commands dozens of times, and tried everything available before the second taser ended it. Seven counts of resisting a peace officer is a number that tends to tell its own story. >> I hope you don't. >> Have a seat. >> Can I have a cigarette, please? >> When we get back to the station, have a seat. >> Grab your cigarettes. I'm going to grab your lighter. I promise. I know you guys lie [clears throat] like that. >> I promise you. You're going to give me a cigarette for real. >> At the station, yes. You can't smoke in our squads. We'll give you one before you go into the station. On January 21st, 2026, Florida Highway Patrol troopers in Wakulla County, Florida, USA, attempted to stop a stolen work truck. The driver was 15 years old. He refused to pull over and push the truck to high speed, passing other vehicles by driving onto the grassy shoulder before cutting back onto the roadway. Troopers attempted a precision immobilization technique, but the truck kept going. Moments later, the stolen truck sideswiped an SUV carrying three people before leaving the roadway entirely. The truck struck a utility pole, crashed through a chainlink fence, and overturned near Shadeville Elementary School. The impact snapped the utility pole in half. Get out of here. >> The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Minor injuries were reported to both the suspect and the occupants of the SUV. The snap utility pole caused a power outage and temporary road closures while repair crews worked to restore the damage near an elementary school. All right. Put your goddamn hands behind. Yes, sir. Put your hand behind your back. Put your hand behind your [ __ ] >> the utility pole, the chain link fence, the SUV, and the stolen work truck all sustained damage from the crash. A power outage affected the surrounding area while crews made repairs. 15 years old, a stolen truck, a snapped utility pole, and a crash near an elementary school. The age of the driver does not change what those choices put at risk. >> For real, you in trouble, but it ain't nothing you can come back from, bro. So, you all right? All right. You're young. You're young. And you can I don't want to go to I >> On June 21st, 2026, an Arkansas State Police trooper in Arkansas, USA, initiated a stop on a GMC Yukon that was driving on a visibly flat tire and refused to yield. The driver pushed on despite the damaged tire, driving erratically and at points crossing into the wrong side of the road. Almost lost the whole front tire. Speeds have dropped down to 20 as he's driving on the ramp. And we're approaching Markham. Approaching Mar4 coming up Passing Leewood. Oh, don't. The trooper attempted multiple precision immobilization technique maneuvers before finally executing one successfully, bringing the Yukon to a stop. When the trooper approached the disabled vehicle, the driver was completely unresponsive. She then told the trooper she had overdosed on fentanyl. >> I'm like, "What are we doing?" And then she just kept going. >> Yes. The trooper immediately administered Narcan to the driver at the scene. She regained responsiveness and was transported for medical care. Troopers intended to sight her for the traffic offenses following the medical incident once she had received treatment. The GMC Yukon sustained damage from driving on a flat tire throughout the pursuit and from the successful intervention. The same trooper who had been trying to stop the vehicle moments earlier ended up being the one who kept the driver alive at the scene. That shift from pursuit to life-saving happened in the span of a single stopped car. She just said that she was pretty sure she was against April 10th in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA, a high-speed pursuit of a stolen truck driven by convicted felon Cody Davis was captured in full-on dash cam footage. The video became central evidence in a criminal trial that would later determine his fate. What the camera recorded left no room for interpretation. Right. All right. Get off the air for a minute. You got a 52 run going north. Oh [ __ ] >> Thank you. Santa on the floor down clear. >> Driver, stop your vehicle. Hold down line. 52 52. >> The footage showed Davis ramming other vehicles out of his way, driving on the wrong side of the road, and according to prosecutors, ditching a stolen gun that can be seen bouncing on the pavement. Davis took the stand in his own defense and claimed his brakes were not working. Prosecutors pointed to recorded jail phone calls in which Davis himself stated he had led officers on a high-speed chase in direct contradiction to everything he told the jury. The jury found Davis guilty on all six counts. Five charges were unanimous. The obstruction of justice charge came back 11 to1. The assistant district attorney described Davis's testimony as the most ridiculous story anyone had ever told on the witness stand and noted that he had committed perjury in front of the jury using recorded phone calls as direct proof. Davis was found guilty of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, aggravated flight from an officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence, and aggravated criminal damage to property. He will be subject to enhanced penalties as a habitual offender at sentencing. He denied leading a chase in court while his own recorded voice confirmed it from a jail phone. The dash cam did not need to argue its case. >> You a couple a couple to the one at Eddie. >> We need a couple to the one at Ryan and Eddie. On July 12th, 2023 on Interstate 40 in Arkansas, USA, a St. Francis County deputy was pursuing two gray Tesla vehicles traveling eastbound at dangerously high speeds. A state trooper ahead attempted to set up spike strips near the 274 mile marker, but had to abandon the plan due to heavy traffic and the rapid approach of the suspects. >> Right there. Right there. Right lane. four >> using rear radar. car. The trooper clocked the lead Tesla at 92 mph in a 65 zone. The second Tesla abruptly exited at mile marker 275, while the first continued accelerating and weaving recklessly between lanes at tripledigit speeds. Ahead, traffic had come to a stop in two lanes, and the suspect shot past everyone through the only open lane on the right. Yeah, somebody's bike over. >> Oh, traffic. Hit it. Go again. Go again. All right. The suspect ran over spike strips placed by West Memphis Police Department officers near the Ingram Street overpass. The trooper attempted two tactical vehicle intervention maneuvers before finally spinning the Tesla into the concrete wall near mile marker 282. The suspect then rammed the trooper's patrol unit, bending the left rear wheel and forcing it into the guard rail before trooper Hess performed a second intervention that brought the vehicle to a final stop. He hit 24 car. >> Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident. A search of the vehicle uncovered a small amount of marijuana and digital scales. The driver, Williams, was charged with reckless driving, fleeing, aggravated assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and no liability insurance. The passenger, Taylor, was charged with possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The Tesla had been rented through the Turo app by the driver's cousin, and the trooper patrol unit sustained significant damage from the ram. Borrowing a car to celebrate a birthday ended with consequences no one at the start of that trip could have imagined. Thanks. >> On February 25th, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 40 near Alexander, Arkansas, USA, local Alexander Police Department officers attempted to stop a motorcycle that had no license plate. The rider refused to pull over and the pursuit quickly escalated, prompting the Arkansas State Police to intercept and assist before Alexander officers took back the lead. We're still left. across the road. >> As the pursuit continued at high speed, the motorcycle weaved through traffic with no sign of stopping. Officers coordinated their positions while waiting for the right moment to act. The riders showed no intention of giving up, pushing the chase further down the interstate and putting other motorists at serious risk. Heat. Heat. An Alexander Police Department officer executed a tactical vehicle intervention, making contact with the motorcycle and pushing it into the concrete divider. The rider was thrown from the bike and taken into custody at the scene. In a dramatic twist, the motorcycle continued rolling down the interstate on its own before colliding into the back of the Alexander Police Department patrol car. >> GET ON THE GROUND. HEY, GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. THAT'S THE 111. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> GET on the ground. >> Yes, sir. >> Get on the ground. The rider was taken into custody and the patrol car sustained rear-end damage from the drifting motorcycle. After being apprehended, the rider complained about the damage to his motorcycle while officers discussed the logistics of the stop around him. Running from a simple license plate violation only added more problems to what was already a bad situation. >> Is this here now kind of working to the So they're I'm [ __ ] kill one. On October 5th, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers Marie Cinti, Jesse Jimenez, Maria Kenhassie, and Jermaine Mercer were dispatched to 147 Terry Place in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA, after receiving a report of an emotionally disturbed individual at that location. Upon arrival, they encountered 45-year-old Huntley Jackson standing in the doorway of the front door while the officer spoke with him from the porch. >> Which hospital do you go to? >> Let me see if Jack can open it. >> Sir, can you unlock the door? >> What's your name? >> What the [ __ ] See, this is why we don't do this [ __ ] man. So they got keys now. So they're I'm going [ __ ] killing. >> The conversation seemed calm at first. Then without any warning, Jackson suddenly produced a knife, rushed onto the porch, and attacked Officer Ketty, cutting her in the shoulder, head and neck. The scene shifted from a routine welfare check to a life-threatening situation in a matter of seconds. Faced with an immediate threat to his colleague, Officer James discharged his weapon twice, striking Jackson in the torso and bringing the assault to a stop. Both Officer Kitty and Jackson were transported to S. Vincent's Hospital for treatment. Officer Kitty was treated and released while Jackson underwent surgery and remained in guarded but stable condition. Jackson was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault in the first degree, and assault on a public safety officer. His bond was set at $750,000 at arraignment. Behind every call officers respond to is an unknown they can never fully prepare for. And yet they show up anyway. >> PUT THE KNIFE DOWN. [screaming] >> DROP THE [ __ ] KNIFE. >> Drop the knife. >> DROP THE [ __ ] KNIFE. Relaxing [ __ ] Don't hit him. >> [ __ ] out. No. >> Get on the ground. On October 27th, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA, an officer pulled over 70-year-old Lich Vu following a minor traffic collision. What started as a routine stop took an unexpected turn when Vu began contesting the ticket and tensions between the two quickly began to rise. >> Okay. >> They have another car in front of her. And why, you know, we I cannot parking behind her. >> Okay. Well, you you are required to go as far away between. You're not supposed to be between any cars. You're supposed to be against that curb line. Okay. >> No. >> Okay. I don't think that you're understanding what I'm what I'm saying here. Okay. >> I understand. I told you she car >> where your vehicle was located. Your vehicle is not like that. >> Sit up. >> No. >> You sit up. >> Get on the ground. sir. >> V allegedly tapped the officer on the chest and told him to be quiet, a move the officer treated as a direct act of aggression. Within seconds, the officer brought Vue to the ground in a swift takedown captured clearly on body cam footage. V lost consciousness immediately upon hitting the ground. >> Sit out. >> No, you sit up. >> Get on the ground. No, no, no. V sustained serious injuries, including a brain bleed and a fractured neck, and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. His family publicly shared images of his injuries and argued the level of force used against an elderly man was far beyond what the situation called for. The officer was placed on administrative leave pending review. The case was forwarded to the Oklahoma County District Attorney for review. No financial damages or property losses were reported in connection with the incident. When force meets fragility, the line between lawful control and excessive response becomes a question the entire community has to sit with. On May 24th, 2023 in Lounes County, Georgia, USA, a sheriff's deputy was managing the scene of a traffic crash along Highway 84 when an oncoming car came speeding down the lane without slowing down. 250 250 rollover. The car struck the back of a tow truck parked on the roadside, launching it into the air before landing back upright. Without hesitation, a deputy rushed toward the wreck to help the driver trapped inside. >> Second EMS immediate roll previous 108. >> A deputy was struck by debris from the impact and taken to hospital, though her injuries were not serious. The driver, a 21-year-old woman from Tallahassee, Florida, survived with serious injuries and was recovering in stable condition. The tow truck sustained heavy damage from the collision. Even at a scene meant to keep people safe, danger can arrive without a single second of warning. On May 24th, 2023 on Interstate 75 southbound in Cobb County, Georgia, USA, police officers located a stolen pickup truck driven by a suspect wanted for an attempted armed robbery. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to pull over and sped away, triggering a pursuit through increasingly congested traffic. approaching video. [screaming] Heavy traffic on the right shoulder, 80 mph. As vehicles filled the interstate, the suspect swerved onto the shoulder and attempted to escape using an exit ramp. An officer used his patrol vehicle to strike the truck, bringing the pursuit to an abrupt end. Officers quickly surrounded the vehicle with their weapons drawn as the suspect tossed a handgun onto the ground. >> Get on the [screaming] ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Hey, put that thing down. PUT IT DOWN. PUT IT DOWN. [screaming] Put it down. Put it down. Put the knife down. Put it down. Put the knife down. Put the knife down. Put it down. Put it down. Put it down. >> Despite dropping the firearm, the suspect held a knife to his own throat, and refused to comply for several tense moments. Eventually, he discarded the knife, lay down on the pavement, and surrendered peacefully. As officers moved in to handcuff him, the emotional suspect could be heard crying and saying, "I just wanted to get away. Keep your hands here and step out. >> Step out of the car. Put your hands out to your side and do not move. >> Put your hands out to the side. Just like an airplane. Look down at the ground and do not move. [screaming] >> Do not move. Do not move. Do not move. >> No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident and the suspect was taken into custody without further resistance. Sometimes the harder someone tries to escape the consequences of their actions, the more clearly they realize that surrender is the only road left to take. >> Stay there. >> Those machets, >> man. Why you do that to me, man? I was just wanting to get away, man. >> We got >> I just wanted to get away. >> Put it down. On September 15th, 2024, at approximately 2:55 p.m. at the Sutter Avenue L train station in Brooklyn, New York, USA, officers Wong and Maize spotted 37year-old Derell Mikkels jumping over a turn style without paying. As they escorted him out, Mikkels revealed a knife in his right hand before walking away. 9 minutes later, Mikkels returned and forced his way back in through the exit gate. On the elevated northbound platform, he refused every order to drop the knife and became increasingly aggressive. He then stepped onto a northbound LRA occupied by several civilian passengers. Down. All right. Show me your hands. Don't touch me, man. What's wrong with you, man? >> Don't [ __ ] touch. >> Don't touch me. Put it down. Put it down. Put it down. PUT IT DOWN. PUT THE KNIFE DOWN. PUT THE KNIFE DOWN. >> YO. YO. TASER. TASER. TASER. TASER. Put it down. >> Inside the train, Mikkels opened the blade and brandished it in front of passengers. Both officers deployed their tasers, but neither worked. When Mikkels charged at the officers, Officer Wong discharged six rounds, and Officer Maize discharged three. Mikkels went down still, gripping the knife and was taken into custody on the spot. >> I'm shot. I'm shot. I'm shot. I'm shot. I'm shot. I'm shot. I'm shot. Put it down. >> Put it down. >> Put it down. Put it down. >> PUT IT DOWN. >> PUT IT DOWN. >> Officer Maize and two civilian bystanders sustained injuries and were treated at nearby hospitals. Mikkels was transported to Kings County Medical Center and later charged with attempted assault in the first degree, menacing a police officer, theft of services, and criminal possession of a weapon. Sometimes what begins as the smallest of violations can spiral into consequences no one saw coming. I'm shot. Shot down. >> I'm shot. >> I'm shot, you guys. >> PUT IT DOWN. >> PUT IT DOWN. FIRE DOWN. >> PUT IT DOWN. >> Shots fired. Shots fired. >> Put the knife down, SIR. >> PUT THE [ __ ] KNIFE DOWN. >> On April 14th, 2025 at approximately 6:21 a.m. near 30th Avenue and 33rd Street in Queens, New York, USA. Multiple residents dialed 911 after spotting 60-year-old King Wong wandering through the area with a knife in hand. Officers Aosta, Tiverz, Lam Monica, and Quisy were dispatched to the scene, and one witness even flagged down two of the responding units while they were still on their way. Officers found Wong standing in [music] the middle of the street, holding the knife and speaking in a way no one could understand. Despite repeated commands to put the weapon down, he stood his ground. Officers Tavvarez and Kisy each deployed their tasers, hoping [music] to bring the standoff to a safe end. >> Put the knife down. >> 31 and 3. 31 and 3. Montana. >> PUT THE KNIFE DOWN. >> PUT THE KNIFE DOWN. >> PUT THE KNIFE DOWN. SIR. SIR, PUT THE [ __ ] KNIFE DOWN. PUT THE [ __ ] KNIFE DOWN. >> PUT THE [ __ ] KNIFE DOWN. >> SIR, PUT THE KNIFE DOWN. >> GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE [ __ ] GROUND. >> Put the knife down. PUT THE KNIFE DOWN, SIR. >> Knife down. >> Neither taser had any effect. Wong kept moving toward the sidewalk, knife still raised, giving officers no room to wait any longer. Officer Aosta discharged seven rounds, officer Kisy two rounds, and Officer Lmonica 10 rounds. Wong was rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals Elmhurst, but did not survive his injury. No officers or bystanders were physically harmed during the confrontation.
