DROP THE GUN. DROP THE GUN. [laughter] >> Get your gun. Hey, where's the GUN NOW? >> HEY, adrenaline junkies. Welcome to Police Chase. Today, we're kicking off a brand new series. When people mess with the wrong cop, where every dumb move instantly triggers justice mode. All right, let's dive in. HEY, >> DROP THE GUN. DROP THE GUN. >> On March 8th, 2025 at 4:23 p.m. in San Francisco, California, USA, emergency dispatch received a 911 call reporting an armed man in a backyard on the 12,200 block of 41st Avenue. Children playing next door had been frightened after the man shouted at them to be quiet. And the caller confirmed he was holding what appeared to be a firearm. >> Did you see the gun? >> Yeah, we saw. We all saw the gun. >> Was it a handgun? Long big gun. >> Hand gun. It's a handgun. >> What color? >> What color? Black. >> Black. >> Black in color. Okay. >> Officers quickly secured the surrounding area, asked nearby [music] residents to shelter in place or evacuate, and requested additional units, drones, specialists, and medical teams. About 20 minutes later, officers spotted the man, later identified as 46-year-old Dmitri Hawkdaughter walking through the backyard with the firearm. His wife told officers by phone that he had been drinking, was emotionally distressed, and kept several firearms at home. In moments like these, every decision carried enormous weight because no one could predict how the situation would unfold. drop down. >> What's that? >> Around 5:24 p.m. After returning to the backyard, Hulkstaughter raised the firearm several times, appeared to focus on the police drone overhead, and pointed the weapon toward it while moving along the fence line. Seeing the risk rapidly increase, an officer discharged his service weapon. Moments later, a radio transmission reported he just shot toward the air. Looks like he injured his own arm. The tense standoff came to an end within seconds. >> DROP THE GUN. DROP THE [screaming] GUN. >> DROP THE GUN. DROP THE GUN. >> BEHIND YOU. BEHIND YOU. >> DROP THE GET ON THE GROUND. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> Get on THE GROUND. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> GET [screaming] ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND, >> DUDE. I reach for the gun. >> He's on the ground. He's on the ground. >> Officers immediately moved in, took Hawkaughter into custody, and applied two tourniquets before paramedics [music] transported him to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The incident serves as a powerful reminder that a single emotional decision can place families, neighbors, and first responders in extraordinary danger. While calm judgment can make all the difference. Ah, my arm is bleeding. Oh, dude. >> I didn't I need to get dude. Serious. >> HEY, GET YOUR GUN DOWN. HEY, PUT THE GUN DOWN. >> On November 21st, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m. in Charleston, South Carolina, USA, police officers responded to a report of a physical confrontation between two men with one of them reportedly carrying a handgun. What began as a routine emergency call quickly developed into a situation that demanded split-second decisions. >> Uh my two sons are right here fighting. One of them got a gun. Would you please say something right around here quick? >> My partner is getting help on the way while we're speaking. All right. And then if you could just repeat that address for me just for verification. >> 653. >> Thank you. >> When officers arrived, they located the individuals involved and began assessing the situation. During the encounter, the armed man was identified as 37year-old Andrew Williams. As officers worked to bring the incident under control, the tension continued to rise, leaving little room for hesitation. >> Recording. >> Get your HAND OUT OF YOUR POCKET NOW. GET YOUR [laughter] GET GET YOUR GUN DOWN. HEY, PUT THE GUN DOWN. >> According to investigators, Williams suddenly raised and pointed the handgun during the encounter. Believing there was an immediate threat, two officers discharged their service weapons. Within moments, the confrontation was brought to an end. Incidents like this remind us how rapidly unpredictable encounters can escalate when a firearm is introduced. >> Hey. Hey. It's right on his right hand. His right hand. His right hand. HEY, BACK UP. BACK UP. BACK UP. IT'S RIGHT ON HIS RIGHT HAND. HEY, BACK UP. BACK UP. DON'T TOUCH THE GUN. HERE, LET'S GO HAND. LET'S GO hands this man. >> Officers immediately provided emergency medical aid at the scene before Williams was transported to a local hospital. No officers were injured during the incident. On April 18th, 2025, after an extensive review, authorities announced that the officers involved would not face criminal charges. The case serves as another reminder that remaining calm and complying with lawful commands can help prevent tragic outcomes for everyone involved. >> Hey, where you shot? >> Where you shot? Where you shot, man? >> Hey, blue shot away. >> Hey, hey, hey. Get a chest. >> You have chest heal. Hey. HEY. >> On March 14th, 2025, at approximately 10:20 p.m. in Los Angeles, California, USA, officers from the Southeast Patrol Division spotted a vehicle being driven erratically along Imperial Highway east of Broadway. They initiated a traffic stop, unaware that the routine encounter would soon become highly unpredictable. 21 location. >> HEY, TURN OFF your car. >> Turn it off. >> From behind the protection of their patrol vehicle doors, officers repeatedly instructed the driver, later identified as 35-year-old Mario Sanchez, to lower the windows and place his hands outside the vehicle. Instead, Sanchez shouted profanity, then suddenly stepped out of the driver's seat. Every second became increasingly tense as officers watched his movements closely, knowing one wrong decision could change everything. Moments later, Sanchez reached toward his waistband, pulled out a dark object, and quickly pointed it toward the officers. Believing there was an immediate threat, the officers discharged their service weapons. Sanchez fell to the roadway, and once the scene was secured, an arrest team moved in to take him into custody. It was a split-second decision made under extraordinary pressure. >> Careful. Hey, dude. HEY. HEY. FIRE UP. WE NEED HELP. Officer needs help. >> Officers immediately provided emergency medical aid until Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived and transported Sanchez to a nearby hospital. No officers or community members were injured. Investigators later determined that the object Sanchez had pointed at officers was a cell phone, underscoring how rapidly appearances can influence life-changing decisions during high-risisk encounters. Trying to see what's up. >> Drop the knife. DROP THE KNIFE. DROP THE KNIFE. >> On March 11th, 2021 in Danville, California, USA, Officer Andrew Hall responded to reports of a man throwing rocks at passing vehicles near a busy intersection. What appeared to be a routine disturbance call quickly evolved into a tense confrontation with every passing second becoming more unpredictable. >> Come here. Oh, >> come here. >> Oh, >> we're not playing this game, dude. >> I did not play this game either. >> You're jaywalking. You're throwing rocks. >> Who are you? >> Officer Hall at the Danville Police. >> From where? Come over here. Authority of [ __ ] touching you. How can you see what's up? >> As officer Hall approached the man, later identified as 32-year-old Tyrell Wilson slowly backed away before suddenly pulling out a knife. Holding the weapon in front of him, Wilson warned, "Touch me and see what's up." The officer continued giving commands while maintaining distance, hoping the encounter could end without anyone being harmed. >> What's up? >> Drop the knife. >> DROP THE KNIFE. DROP THE KNIFE. >> Someone shots fired. >> Believing the threat had become immediate, officer Hall discharged his service weapon. The encounter was over within seconds, leaving behind a scene filled with tension and unanswered emotions. >> Test me to see what's up. Test me to see what's up. >> Drop the knife. >> DROP THE KNIFE. DROP THE KNIFE. Tom went shots fired. >> Wilson was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, but was later unable to recover from his injury. The body camera footage later sparked widespread discussion about mental health, deescalation, and the difficult decisions officers sometimes face in rapidly changing situations. It serves as a reminder that a single choice made in just a few seconds can affect countless lives. Uh, >> okay. Then open the door. >> One evening in Broward County, Florida, USA, deputies were called to a McDonald's after employees reported a woman refusing to leave the drive-thru, bringing service to a standstill. What began as a customer dispute was quickly becoming a situation that affected everyone waiting in line. >> Drunk like she's so like you don't know what she's saying. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. >> Second one. >> Ma'am, how you doing tonight, man? What's going on? >> I guess >> Yeah. Well, they they try giving you your food. You don't want it. Then you need to get out of here. >> What >> did she pay? Did she pay for her food? >> Did you pay for your food yet, ma'am? >> An officer calmly approached the driver and tried to understand the situation. During the conversation, the woman appeared confused and admitted she had consumed alcohol earlier. When asked several times to step out of the vehicle, she repeatedly refused, insisting she only wanted her food. As the officer's patience was met with resistance, the encounter became increasingly unpredictable. Ma'am, let's go. Step out of the car. Ma'am, I'm going to ask you one more time. I'm going to break this window. Step out of the car. >> Step out of the car. Open the window. >> Open the window. >> Open the door. >> I hear you. >> Door. >> I HEAR YOU. >> OKAY, THEN. Open the door. Let's go, man. Put the car in park. PUT THE CAR IN PARK. >> She's trying to flee right now. I need a unit at the east side of the McDonald's and the south side. >> East side and south side of the McDonald's. >> The pursuit came to an end after she entered a deadend street and collided with a patrol vehicle. Officers surrounded the car, repeatedly ordering her to show her hands. >> Take cover. It's not going anywhere. >> Let this turn into a barricade if it needs to. >> Move your car. You're in the line of fire. >> All right, everyone get off the radio. >> Yeah. Just get out of the car. It's over. Just get out of the car. It's over. You're going TO JAIL. GET OUT OF THE CAR. I can get in. >> Thank you for filming. >> I love it. >> Crash notification. >> Investigators later charged Shay with several felony offenses, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, battery on an officer, resisting without violent, and fleeing with disregard for public safety. Court records also showed she had previous criminal cases and had been released on bond before. The incident highlights how a series of poor decisions left uncorrected can grow into more serious legal consequences. Sometimes the smallest choice is the one that changes the course of an entire life. Need a single board. >> One evening in Penllis County, Florida, USA, deputies responded to a motel after a drugrelated dispute quickly spiraled out of control. He ran the red light. I think he just signal forward into this van. He's now east westbound on West Bay. With the sheriff's helicopter tracking from above, deputies watched the suspect drive recklessly through busy streets, running multiple red lights, entering oncoming lanes, and narrowly avoiding several motorists. Every passing intersection raised the risk for innocent people nearby. >> Down at 18, uh, looks like he's going to bail at 18. Um, he's coming to carjack a Corvette. The case is a powerful reminder that one reckless decision can quickly grow into a chain of increasingly serious consequences, placing countless lives at risk along the way. >> Not sure if he was trying to pull up his pants or reach for something. He definitely had some white in his hands there for a moment. I think he still has it in his location. >> All right, Marine units have got him on the boat.
