Hey, talk to me, bro. Just talk to me, man. Hey, THE CAR IS COMING OUT. >> HEY, ADRENALINE JUNKIES. WELCOME TO Police Chase. Today, we're kicking off a brand new series when people messed with the wrong cops where every dumb move instantly triggers justice mode. All right, let's dive in. >> Get on the ground. >> Hey, talk to me, bro. Just talk TO ME, MAN. >> ON APRIL 20TH IN WENTZVILLE, MISSOURI, USA, police responded to an AutoZone where 54-year-old Daniel Phillips was reportedly armed and in emotional distress. Authorities said he was also connected to an earlier incident involving a former girlfriend near Troy. >> Hey, what's going on, man? >> Back. >> Let me see your hands, bro. >> I got one right here in my hand. Get back. >> Get back, bro. Let me see your [ __ ] hands. Dude, bro. >> He's wanted at gunpoint. He's got a gun to his head. >> Stop, bro. Stop. Put it Put your [ __ ] gun down, man. >> Prosecutors allege that Phillips had forced his former girlfriend to stay with him and threatened her with a firearm. She was later released unharmed. Police eventually located Phillips outside the AutoZone where the situation [music] quickly became tense. Every second now mattered. >> Put the gun down, bro. Put the gun down, MAN. PUT THE GUN DOWN! >> PUT THE GUN DOWN! >> STOP. DUDE, WHAT'S YOUR NAME, BRO? Talk to me. What's your name? Talk to me, bro. What's your name? Hey, talk to me, bro. Just talk to me, man. Just talk TO ME, OKAY? SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. >> THE encounter suddenly escalated and two officers discharged their weapons, leaving Phillips injured. Moments later, he dropped the firearm beside the vehicle, allowing officers to secure the scene and request medical assistance. >> OFFICER PHILLIPS, DROP IT. DROP IT. 219, GUNS DOWN, GUNS DOWN. Get him out. Get him out. Get on the ground, bro. >> Down. Down. >> Get on the ground, man. >> Phillips was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said he later faced multiple charges related to the earlier incident and the confrontation. A tense encounter lasting only moments had now left consequences that could follow him for years. >> Where you hit, bro? Is anybody hit? Check yourself. Physically check. Okay, go go physically go check him and go check uh or uh go check Where are you hit, man? >> In my wrist, man. Look at it. >> You hot? >> Put it down. Down. >> On July 23rd at 6:16 p.m. in Wellington, Ohio, USA, police responded to a home on Cortland Street after neighbors reported someone breaking glass. 10 minutes later, an officer said 37-year-old Scott Baker was throwing objects, including a table, toward her. What began as a disturbance call was quickly becoming unpredictable. >> You said the deputies came? Scott, put it down. Scott, put it down. Put it down. Down. Put it down. [laughter] I'm not playing with you, Mr. Scott. Mr. Scott, put it down. >> At 6:27 p.m., Baker suddenly came out of the house carrying a knife and moved [music] toward officers in the street. Police first deployed a Taser in an attempt to stop him, but it was ineffective. With the distance closing fast, the officers had only seconds to react. >> PUT IT DOWN. PUT IT DOWN. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. Get us an ambulance. Get us back up now. Shots fired. Stay down, Mr. Scott. >> [music] >> An officer then discharged a firearm, leaving Baker injured and bringing the immediate threat under control. Almost instantly, the focus changed from stopping the danger to helping the person in front of them. >> Where were you shot? Show me. Your stomach? Can I approach you and hold pressure? Is that okay? >> The officer immediately called for backup and medical assistance, then applied pressure to Baker's wounds until EMS arrived. He was later airlifted to Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland and reported in stable condition. The officers were not physically injured, a tense reminder of how quickly a routine call can become a [music] split-second test of judgment. >> I know. I know. You got someone on the way, okay? They're on the way. >> In Chicago, Illinois, USA, three uniformed officers were traveling in an unmarked vehicle near the 6,900 block of South Sangamon Avenue when they attempted a traffic stop. The driver pulled into a dead end, but what seemed like a routine stop was about to change in seconds. According to police, 27-year-old Jerome Halsey suddenly exited the vehicle and opened fire toward the officers. Officer Eric Moreno was struck in the arm and torso. With their colleague injured and the situation unfolding almost instantly, the officers had little time to react. >> Get in the car AND DON'T MOVE. YOU OKAY? >> THE OFFICERS RETURNED FIRE, leaving Halsey injured and bringing the immediate threat under control. In only a few moments, an ordinary traffic stop had turned into a tense confrontation captured on body cam. >> You okay? >> Hey, take me to the University of Chicago, right? >> Squad, squad, we have a PO shot. >> I got you, bro. >> 16, HE'S STAGGERING, MAN. >> Moreno was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious but stable condition. Halsey later faced charges including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault. The incident is a striking reminder that behind every routine stop is an element of uncertainty, and sometimes a few seconds can leave consequences that last for years. >> Dominguez, I need your car keys. >> We got an ambulance 14 here, okay? >> I need your car keys. >> All right. >> And I need you to go to the hospital. >> What's his name? Can you look at his ID? >> Jerome Halsey. >> Sit him down. Sit him down. >> I just told you to turn around and put your hands >> On June 24th, 2022 at around 2:30 a.m. in Humble, Texas, USA, Officer John Cox responded to a disturbance at a local bar. In the parking lot, he encountered Christopher Hannah, who appeared intoxicated and had visible injuries from an earlier confrontation with two motorcyclists. >> According to police, Hanna admitted firing a firearm at least twice during the earlier confrontation. After securing the weapon, Officer Cox attempted to detain him, but Hanna reportedly backed away and refused to place his hands behind his back. Knowing a firearm had already been involved, the officer couldn't afford to ignore the risk. >> Am I Am I under arrest? >> Hey, I'm going to go ahead and detain you. >> Am I under arrest? >> Settle down. Settle down. >> Am I under arrest? >> I just told you to turn around and put your hands behind your back. >> All I did was ask a >> Turn around. >> [laughter] >> Put your goddamn back. >> I'm not I'm not >> All right, I'm going to kick the [ __ ] out of you. You understand? As Hanna continued to create distance, Officer Cox moved in and brought him down onto a grassy area before placing him in handcuffs. Police said the officer did not strike Hanna. A female witness later reported that Hanna had also pointed the firearm in her direction, adding another serious layer to the incident. >> I'm not resisting. Just put your hands behind your back. I'm not >> I'm not resisting. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Yeah, you ain't now. >> I didn't do anything. >> I told you to turn around, son. >> All I did was ask a question. >> I don't give a [ __ ] You don't do that. You don't put your [ __ ] hands up. >> I ain't putting my hands up. >> [ __ ] arms up. >> Hanna was charged with aggravated assault. Police maintained that his earlier injuries came from the confrontation before Officer Cox arrived. While Hanna's attorneys disputed the officer's use of force and said they plan to file a formal complaint. With surveillance and body cam footage capturing the encounter, the case became a reminder of why video evidence can be crucial when two sides tell very different stories. >> I ain't putting my hands >> I don't give a [ __ ] Learn to act right. >> I didn't What am I doing wrong? Look. I got killed by the police. >> On August 5th, 2026 at around 7:00 p.m. near Trumann, Arkansas, USA, an Arkansas State Police Trooper attempted to stop a Hyundai Sonata on Interstate 555 for a traffic violation. Police identified the driver as 32-year-old Leloyd L. Hamilton III, who allegedly refused to stop and accelerated away. The pursuit quickly reached speeds of around 130 mph. As Hamilton continued northbound, the trooper moved into position for a tactical vehicle intervention, or TVI. At that speed, the danger was no longer limited to the pursuit itself. Every driver nearby was potentially at risk. >> Jonesboro, we got to roll over semi 10-16. >> Near mile marker 28, the trooper performed the TVI. During the incident, Hamilton's vehicle collided with another vehicle, causing it to overturn beside the Interstate. In an instant, two people who had nothing to do with the pursuit were caught in its consequences. >> Get out of the car! GET OUT OF THE CAR! SHOW ME YOUR HANDS! Get out of the car! Get out of the car! Show me your hands, dude! Jonesboro, I need I need 10-16 for a They hit somebody else. They rolled over. Show me your hands. Stop moving. Show me your hands. >> A 68-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man in the other vehicle were taken to Regional One Medical Center with serious injuries. Hamilton was also taken for medical evaluation. Police said a search of his vehicle recovered suspected controlled substances, and he later faced multiple charges, including felony fleeing, second-degree battery, hazardous driving, DWI, and drug-related offenses. One decision to flee had turned a traffic stop into consequences affecting far more than one person. >> I'm trying to get to my daughter, man. My daughter is sick, man. My daughter is having a heart attack, bro. My daughter is having a >> Anybody else in the car? >> No, my daughter is having a heart attack. Check on my daughter. >> On August 5th, 2026, at around 11:24 p.m. near Alexander, Arkansas, USA, police were pursuing a gold Acura along the I-30 frontage road, and Arkansas State Police Trooper joined near the Alcoa Road overpass and saw the vehicle moving at high speed while swerving between lanes. Ahead was a work zone with closed ramps, limited lane access, and workers nearby. With the Acura heading directly toward it, the trooper decided to attempt a tactical vehicle intervention, or TVI. After the first opportunity was lost, he repositioned beside the vehicle at approximately 109 mph. At that speed, there was almost no room for error. The trooper made contact with the Acura's rear quarter, sending it into the grassy median. His patrol vehicle also lost control and struck a concrete culvert. Through the smoke and dust, the trooper then spotted the driver running across the interstate. Despite the damaged patrol car, the pursuit continued on foot. THE DRIVER, IDENTIFIED AS TYRESE HAMPTON, crossed a concrete barrier before officers caught him behind the Plaza One Suites and took him into custody without further incident. Hampton was evaluated at Saline Memorial Hospital before being transported to the Saline County Jail. The trooper's vehicle had to be towed from the scene, a striking reminder of how quickly a high-speed pursuit can put everyone in its path at risk. On August 9th, 2026 at around 10:17 a.m. near Greenbrier, Arkansas, USA, Conway police were pursuing a vehicle along Lower Ridge Road. An Arkansas State Police Trooper monitored the pursuit and positioned himself ahead, hoping to intercept it before it reached a more populated area. >> State police 10-53. >> All right, we're going about 100. >> When the pursuit turned westbound, Conway police requested assistance. The trooper intercepted it on State Highway 225 East and became the primary unit. He attempted a tactical vehicle intervention or TVI, but the first attempt was unsuccessful. With the vehicle still moving toward populated streets, every second began to matter. >> Just out of Malvern. >> Failed TVI. >> Copy that. TVI. >> Any no traffic. >> Clear him. >> I'm 10-30. >> Near 40 East Main, the trooper found another opportunity and attempted a second TVI. This time it worked, bringing the pursuit to a controlled stop. After a tense chase and one failed attempt, the danger on the road was finally brought under control. >> 62, I'm TVI. >> 10-15. >> 10-30, 62 is in custody now. >> Adam 62 is in custody now. >> The driver, identified as Jeffrey Tate, was taken into custody by Conway police. He was medically cleared at Baptist ER in Conway before being transported to the Faulkner County Detention Center. The pursuit showed how preparation, coordination, and timing can make all the difference when officers have only moments to act. >> Okay, we're running. >> On August 8th, 2026, at around 8:05 p.m. in Crittenden County, Arkansas, USA, Trooper Hunter Hill spotted a silver 2020 Honda Insight traveling north on Interstate 55. Radar reportedly showed 95 mph in a 75-mph zone, prompting the trooper to initiate a traffic stop near mile marker 12. >> [music] >> The Honda initially stopped on the shoulder, but as Hill approached, the driver allegedly accelerated away. The pursuit quickly reached triple-digit speeds as the Honda changed lanes, nearly struck another vehicle, and even traveled the wrong way along part of the service road with traffic ahead. Every risky move raised the stakes. >> Where you at, dude? 51 >> Seeing the growing risk to other motorists, Hill moved into position for a tactical vehicle intervention or TVI. The pursuit eventually came to an end, leaving both the Honda and the patrol vehicle with significant damage. What began as a speeding stop had escalated into a far more serious situation. >> Step out of the vehicle. STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE. GET OUT. >> Authorities said the driver had a suspended license and no liability insurance. The driver later faced multiple charges including reckless driving, fleeing by vehicle, criminal mischief, DWI involving drugs, speeding, and following too closely. One decision to drive away turned a simple traffic violation into a long list of consequences. A reminder that sometimes the safest choice is also the simplest one. Stop. >> See if EMS copy. >> I think they're here. >> Show me the 383. >> That's fire. Shots fired. Shots fired. >> On July 17th, 2023 at an unspecified time in Tampa, Florida, USA, police responded to a report of a seriously injured woman near N 35th Street and E. 18th Avenue. She was taken to a local hospital while officers identified 33-year-old Michael Bresnehan as the suspect. Police later spotted his vehicle and attempted to stop him. According to authorities, Bresnehan pointed an AK-47 toward officers and fled. >> 10-507 >> He might have called one edge of it. Now, he's going to [screaming] be uh eastbound on Cypress. Tried to drive around the spikes. Eastbound Cypress is coming up to Lincoln now. Still >> Body cam and aviation footage show the vehicle driving erratically, breaking through fences, and avoiding stop sticks before crashing into another car. >> 180 up to 6,000 and we'll contact 119.5 >> to 6,000. >> 23 74 helicopter 100. >> So, 446 1196 >> Signal 4 Florida and Gladys, Florida Gladys. >> Moments later, authorities reported gunfire from the suspect's vehicle. 18 officers responded believing an immediate threat remained. The confrontation ended with Bresnehan suffering a serious gunshot injury while the officers were later placed on standard administrative leave. >> Woah, shots fired. Shots fired. Shots fired. We got multiple shots fired. Traffic. >> The injured woman was later reported to be in stable condition. In the end, what began as a call for help became a chain of events affecting an entire community. A reminder that one reckless decision can change many lives in just a few moments. >> HELLO. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. >> ON MAY 11TH, 2023 at approximately 7:55 p.m. in Houston, Texas, USA, Westside patrol officers responded to a report of gunfire at an apartment on Forum Park Drive. When they approached the suspected apartment, 41-year-old Edwin Lopez suddenly opened the door and fired toward the officers. >> Oh, [ __ ] Get Get it. >> [laughter] >> HELLO. SHOTS FIRED. SHOTS FIRED. >> OFFICER HUNTER returned fire before moving to a safer position. Minutes later, Lopez stepped outside still holding the firearm. Officers repeatedly ordered him to put it down. This time, he followed their command, bringing the tense encounter under control. >> Speak to me. Turn around. Turn around. I SAID TO TURN AROUND. TURN AROUND. GET GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. LAY DOWN FLAT ON THE GROUND. HEY, LAY ON THE GROUND. Listen to what I'M TELLING YOU. LAY ON THE GROUND. >> Lopez was taken into custody without further incident. Officer Hunter suffered injuries from shrapnel and was treated at the scene while Lopez was not physically injured. >> 90210 36 in custody. >> He almost shot me, man. >> What's up, man? >> He I think I got grazed. >> You got grazed? >> Lopez was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant. A tense encounter that could have taken a very different turn ultimately ended with everyone under control. A reminder that following clear commands can prevent a dangerous situation from becoming even worse. >> I live here. >> DROP THE KNIFE. POLICE. >> ON JULY 16TH, 2023 at approximately 6:39 p.m. on Manchester, Connecticut, USA, Officer Haley Ouelette responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on North Main Street. There, she encountered 58-year-old Joseph Diloretto, who was holding a knife and moving toward her. OFFICER OUELETTE ORDERED HIM TO DROP THE knife and tried to create distance. She deployed her taser, but it was unsuccessful. Diloretto continued advancing and reportedly shouted, "Shoot me." leaving the officer with very little room to retreat. AS THE SITUATION ESCALATED, Officer Ouelette fired her handgun several times, striking Diloretto in the upper thigh. He fell, allowing her to secure the knife and place him in handcuffs. Diloretto received medical treatment and was later released from the hospital. He faced several charges including threatening and assault-related offenses. In a matter of moments, a domestic disturbance had become a high-risk encounter, a reminder that staying calm and following commands can make all the difference. On February 19th, 2023 at approximately 5:30 p.m. in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, Louisville Metro Police responded to a report of a woman in a mental health crisis near Chenault Road. Officers found 52-year-old Kandy Basil in the street holding and waving a firearm. >> Put it your gun down. Watch it. Go ahead just Okay, put it down. Put it down. Put it down for me. PUT IT DOWN, SIR. PUT IT ON THE GROUND. ON THE GROUND, SIR. PUT IT ON THE GROUND. Don't drop the gun. >> Officers repeatedly ordered Basil to drop the weapon, but she continued moving toward them. For the officers, every second mattered. They had to assess the situation while keeping themselves and nearby residents safe. >> SIR, DROP THE GUN. >> PUT IT DOWN. PUT IT DOWN. >> DROP THE GUN. >> JUST DROP THE GUN. DROP THE GUN. >> WHEN BASIL CONTINUED FORWARD, OFFICER WYATT, a 19-year veteran, fired two rounds, striking her. Officers immediately secured the firearm and provided first aid before she was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital. >> Got to get a mess. >> Oh my god. >> Do you have any other weapons? >> No. Oh my god. >> We're 10-86. >> Oh my god. Oh my god. >> I'm out of We got to get >> Basil was reported to be alert and expected to recover. She was later arrested and faced charges including wanton endangerment of police officers and menacing. In just a few moments, a difficult situation had changed everyone's lives. A reminder that when emotions run high, following clear commands can prevent an even more serious outcome. >> Take the firearm away. >> Who are you? >> I'm trying. I'm trying. >> Get back. >> I'm trying. Come back. Come back. Come back. Come back. Come back. Come back. >> On July 19th, 2025 in Pueblo, Colorado, USA, police received several reports of motorcyclists riding recklessly on the city's south side. Officers from the DICE unit located the group and began monitoring their movements. >> I got Oh, it's got a plate under there. >> Body cam and dash cam footage showed the riders performing wheelies, standing on their bikes, and weaving between vehicles across several lanes. Their actions reportedly brought traffic on Northern Avenue to a standstill, but how long could this continue before someone got seriously hurt? >> That's our question, right? >> Yeah. Definitely without due regard. >> [music] >> I was thinking this one it's might be easier to grab them off this bike. We going for this one? >> Yep. >> Okay. It's now or never. >> Yep. >> Right? Okay. >> Yep. >> Officers moved in at a red light. One rider was removed from his motorcycle and taken into custody while the other two quickly left the scene. What had started as reckless riding had now become a police operation. >> Driving on the road. >> Sorry. >> Endangering everybody. You're probably going to have to go around cuz we're going to >> I just called that in. >> We're Yeah, we're going to get one, so See how happy everybody was? >> He got me. I'm sorry. >> No, no, everybody's happy. >> Police said the footage would also serve as a warning about the dangers of high-risk riding. With Colorado recording 165 motorcycle-related fatalities in 2024, authorities stressed that reckless stunts can lead to arrest, license consequences, vehicle impoundment, and far more serious outcomes. Sometimes the biggest risk is not getting caught. It's realizing too late how little control you really had. >> We're not trying We're not trying to make your life harder, man, but it is a big nuisance and a danger to you, other people on the street, man. Uh Several people get killed on motorcycles every year. >> On May 10th, 2026, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper observed the vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 75 in Florida, USA, at 103 mph in a posted 70-mph zone. When the Trooper activated lights and sirens to initiate a stop, the driver refused and accelerated away. The pursuit continued as the driver moved onto southbound US Route 301, weaving through traffic at dangerous speeds with no intention of pulling over. The Trooper maintained contact and waited for the right moment to act safely. The Trooper executed a precision immobilization technique maneuver on US Route 301, successfully bringing the vehicle to a stop. The driver, identified as Justice Powell, 21 of Riverview, was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded firearm and a quantity of suspected fentanyl. >> Put your [ __ ] hands up right now. Don't [ __ ] move or I'll shoot you in the face. Do you understand? >> Powell was transported to Hillsborough County Jail and charged with aggravated fleeing to elude law enforcement, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, armed possession of fentanyl, reckless driving, and driving without a valid license. The loaded firearm and drugs were seized as evidence. Fleeing at over 100 mph only guaranteed that what was hidden in that car would eventually come to light. >> Person born never mess with the police, you know that. >> You were trying to get away, but you didn't realize that the highway patrol was going to [ __ ] you up. Right? You thought the sheriff's office was going to let you go. >> On November 29th, 2025, at approximately 2:49 p.m., a South Carolina State Trooper clocked a gray SUV traveling at 81 mph in a 65 mph zone on South Carolina Highway 31 USA. The driver refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit through multiple roads, eventually coming to a stop before fleeing again northbound on Secondary Road 31. >> 38. Turning left on Red Bluff. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR! GET OUT OF THE [ __ ] CAR! GET OUT OF THE CAR! >> HORRY County Police Department officers positioned themselves ahead to deploy stop sticks near the Waccamaw River. As the suspect approached the location where Corporal Dozier was ready to deploy the sticks, the driver suddenly swerved toward Corporal Dozier in an apparent attempt to strike him. Corporal Dozier jumped over a guardrail to avoid being hit and drew his weapon. >> Or he's driving backwards on primary. He's going to try to hit the county here and I'm going to take the vehicle out. Take him out. >> The state trooper immediately rammed the suspect's vehicle to disable it after witnessing the deliberate attempt on Corporal Dozier. The suspect reversed and fled again before Corporal Lane attempted a tactical vehicle intervention. The trooper struck the vehicle a second time forcing both vehicles off the road into a ditch. >> GET OUT! [screaming] GET YOUR HANDS UP! STAY IN THE VEHICLE! PUT YOUR HANDS UP! STAY IN THE CAR! >> YOU GOT HIM? YOU GOT HIM? I'M GOING TO CLEAR the car. STAY IN THE CAR. GET [screaming] DOWN. >> THE SUSPECT fled on foot but was tackled and taken into custody shortly after. The suspect was treated at Grand Strand Regional Hospital for minor injuries before being booked at the detention center. Both the troopers patrol vehicle and the suspect's SUV sustained damage from the repeated collisions. The suspect was charged with speeding, operating uninsured, improper tag, failure to stop, and held for warrants of attempted murder and resisting arrest. He was also wanted by the Horry County Sheriff's Office and Probation and Parole. Trying to use a vehicle as a weapon against an officer is a decision that tends to end only one way. >> I'm not going to talk. I got to blow on my hand. >> Hold on. Hey, what's going >> Just went off the road into the side of a house. >> On June 27th, 2023 at an unspecified time in North Baltimore, Ohio, USA, police responded to a domestic dispute involving 23-year-old Jonathan J. Baker and the mother of his 7-month-old child. Baker left the scene with the infant prompting police to issue a bolo to nearby agencies. >> I'm behind him. He just went left on Sandusky Patrol 3, on Sandusky Street. Coming up that elbow. I'm behind him. He is coming up that elbow. >> State 7 behind the county unit on Still South Sandusky. Coming up to Euclid. >> Just went off the road into the side of a house. >> The vehicle was later spotted in Tiffin. Deputies and local officers attempted to stop it, but the driver accelerated, veered off the road, and crashed into a residence on S. Sandusky Street. Fortunately, no one was inside the home. >> It's at 607 South Sandusky. >> Right into a house, I believe. I'll be out with them. State 7 in the squad. Send the squad to >> Emergency responders immediately reached the vehicle and began providing urgent care to the infant and Baker. Both were taken to the hospital, but the infant could not be saved. Baker was airlifted to Toledo St. Vincent's Hospital in critical condition. A loaded firearm and at least one spent cartridge were also found inside the vehicle. It was a heartbreaking outcome that began with a family dispute and escalated within minutes. Sometimes one decision made in a moment of panic can leave consequences that last far beyond the moment itself. >> Is he still operating? >> Yeah, he's out. >> On March 13th, 2026 at an unspecified time in Pasco County, Florida, USA, Trooper Starling Kelly was at a gas station on State Road 52 when an employee reported a Dodge Ram performing donuts on the property. The truck soon left the station, but the situation was far from over. Trooper Kelly initiated a traffic stop with lights and sirens, but the driver made a U-turn and accelerated away. The pursuit quickly intensified. According to the report, the truck reached 109 mph in a 45 mph zone and was later paced at 129 mph in a 55 mph area. >> With traffic increasing, Kelly used a precision intervention technique to bring the truck under control. The vehicle stopped and the driver, later identified as Heriberto Benitez, stepped out with his hands raised and was taken into custody. >> Yeah, you were going somewhere. Now you're going to jail with felonies. Get your head in. Sit down. >> Sorry, sir. Damn, dude. >> All right, man. Before I talk to you, I'm going to read you your rights. Do you understand that? >> Yes, sir. I apologize, sir, for for for >> the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. >> According to the report, Benitez admitted drinking three beers and a field test reportedly detected cocaine. Breath test later recorded 0.086 and 0.079. He was booked into the Pasco County Detention Center. One reckless decision had turned a simple traffic stop into a dangerous pursuit, showing how quickly poor choices can put everyone on the road at risk. >> You know, my dad I'm just worried about my dad. He's going to be pissed at me, man. >> Your dad's going to be mad as hell cuz you just wrecked out a vehicle and we're about to seize it. >> Okay. >> On February 5th, 2023 at approximately 7:55 p.m. in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, an officer spotted a black GMC Yukon failing to stop at a red light near the I-75/85 interchange. When the officer activated the emergency lights, the driver refused to stop, turning a routine traffic stop into a pursuit. >> The SUV continued along I-75 85 before exiting onto Cleveland Avenue and later heading back toward I-75. The driver and passengers then left the SUV and ran from the scene. The officer remained behind to assist the occupants of the damaged vehicle while Atlanta police aviation searched the surrounding area. The driver and one passenger were eventually located in a wooded area and taken into custody without further incident. >> All right, are you okay? >> I'm just freaking out. >> Yeah, well, okay. >> I'm just freaking out. >> Okay, okay, okay, okay. So, are you okay? >> Yes, we're okay. >> I didn't even see them. >> The driver, identified as Troyshaun [music] Jarv Porter, faced multiple charges including felony fleeing, reckless driving, hit-and-run, and obstruction. The pursuit lasted about 4 miles. What began with one missed traffic signal ended with a long list of consequences, a reminder that choosing to stop can sometimes prevent a much bigger problem. On March 27th, 2022, at approximately 1:04 a.m., a Georgia State Patrol motor carrier officer was driving westbound on Interstate 20 near Bill Kennedy Way in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, when he spotted a gray 2015 BMW 640i traveling at an estimated 108 mph in a 65-mph zone. Radar confirmed the reading and the officer moved in to initiate a stop. The driver, later identified as Deonte Dardy, immediately accelerated and fled. Dardy reached speeds in excess of 140 mph, making erratic lane changes, running red lights, and showing complete disregard for other drivers and passengers in his own vehicle. The pursuit stretched across Interstate 20, Interstate 75, and 85 north through city streets and past multiple traffic signals before state troopers coordinated to end the chase. Sergeant Tarpley executed a precision immobilization technique on Spring Street, sending Dockerty's BMW crashing into multiple vehicles before coming to a complete stop. Dockerty was taken into custody without further resistance and checked by medical personnel on scene before being transported to Fulton County Sheriff's Office for booking. Dockerty's BMW and several other vehicles sustained damage from the final crash. The vehicle was towed from the scene by a wrecker service. Dockerty was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, and speeding. Over 7 mi of highway and city streets put at risk, all because one driver decided a traffic stop was not worth stopping for. >> You okay? Yeah, we're okay. >> I'm on 75. Speeds are going around cars. Speeds are 50 right now. He did 41 41 41. >> On July 20th, 2024, at approximately 8:44 p.m., a Georgia State Patrol Trooper and Lieutenant Carey were on Interstate 75 Northbound in Georgia, USA, when a black Dodge Durango SRT passed them at 97 mph in a 65 mph zone in heavy traffic. The Trooper activated emergency lights and sirens to initiate a stop, but the driver, later identified as John Tavius Hood, signaled as if to comply before suddenly slamming the accelerator and fleeing. >> I'm on 75.
