[Music] [Applause] [Music] So, I'd grown up Mesa for the majority of my my life kind of east eastern Mesa. Um, >> and I just originally I had applied to Queen Creek and Mesa and Gilbert police departments and Mesa was the one that just felt right. Uh, so we got a trespass call. Uh, someone saw a guy standing outside a church that didn't belong to. The church is closed. Looks like officers are already out with them, so we're going to see if they need any help. 20 push-ups, >> dude. No way. What >> you guys got? >> All right. Hey, uh trespass. >> Hey, we're going to take you out of cops, man. >> Dude, you look exactly Put this guy on top of your head. Okay. >> How's it going? >> I'm the operations manager here. I'm the one that called you guys. >> Okay. >> They open this schooling center and these people come here and they do dope all the time. >> Okay. >> And I I calling you guys. These people say they call you and they try to trespass people, but you guys won't do it. I don't believe that because every time I've ever asked have somebody trespass you guys took care of us. So that's the issue. >> The issue is these people are coming here and doing these drugs. There's nothing I can do about it because I have no trespassing signs up. But they're inviting them in, >> right? >> And it's I got them up on the roofs. They're breaking into the buildings. Can you guys do I got to get a hold of somebody from you guys to say come on he increase the patrol. >> So we can Yeah. So so if you go online you can do an uh online uh extra patrol request. You can also look at contacting one of the what's called a community action officer. So they typically deal with uh issues where like we have a a legitimate reason for people coming here but maybe they're staying around too long or like you said breakins things like that. It >> was up to me this would have never happened. >> Yeah. >> Okay. This is [ __ ] Okay. They're they're they're tagging. They're having sex in the buildings. They're doing I mean, they're just >> It's bad. I'm finding I just turned in a whole I know you guys just took over from the new one over here, right? New one. Yeah. I knew all the other guys over here, but now I guess I got to let you guys I had a whole bag of drugs I turned into the girl that I find here. Needles. >> Yeah. >> All that. I mean, a bag. She was like, >> well, the unfortunate problem that we that we run into, right, is if people don't call, we don't know what's going on. >> So, the be the first thing you can do is when you see stuff like that, definitely give us a call. Right. >> Um second is if you go online and do an extra uh extra patrol request um or request to speak to a crime prevention officer. >> Um and then what they'll do is they'll put you in contact with them. They'll kind of take down notes, you know, see what's going on. And then we have community action officers that can come out, do some target enforcement, some education piece, show a presence and things like that to kind of help you out. Are you seeing it at any point? Like is it more prevalent? During the day, at night or when are you seeing all the time? >> It's all the time, you know. >> Okay. Yeah, definitely just just keep our number in hand. >> This is Mike's boss. >> Hi, this is >> I guess he was acting erratically out here and then the staff members they wanted him trespassed and when officers got here they were running his name and originally he had provided a different date of birth, but it was for another individual who looked the exact same with three Mesa City warrants. >> Oh wow. So that's why he was detained in cuffs until they were able to determine whether or not this was the actual individual. Now, did he have originally a reason to be here? >> So he was going to the cooling center um just to they were giving out food and that type of thing to help people in this area that may be struggling. And I guess his behavior was kind of erratic to the point where they it was causing a disturbance and then they just wanted him trespass from here. >> Okay. >> Yeah. But he's been cool. He's been super cooperative and no issues. >> So we had a uh call about someone who turn or uh stole something out of a backyard. Um the person who called lost sight of them uh in a neighborhood. So, we're going to go in the neighborhood and see if we can locate him. So, so far all we've got is that it's a white man wearing black shorts and was seen carrying a black shirt. Might have gone into another backyard. Um, so we have officers setting up a perimeter and we have a drone overhead to try to locate him. That's him straight ahead, I think. Y >> anybody else head down Broadway? >> Yeah, we'll head down. >> Okay. >> Yeah, that's it. >> Let's go in here. >> Yeah, >> we're going to get up over to him and contact him. Got a white male. He's got like a black tank top and black shorts. All right. >> How's it going, man? >> All right. >> You have any weapons on you? >> No. >> Okay. Do >> you have any idea why we're stopping you? >> No. >> No. Okay. Tattoo yourself. Uh, >> just some outfits. Nice. No idea why we're stopping you. No. >> Oh, >> okay. >> I think you probably do. >> Do you have an ID on you, man? >> It's looking like this might be the guy. >> Okay. I Okay, I know what it's for. You know, I I grabbed this and I gave it back to the gentleman. Okay. I didn't take it, though. >> Okay. Well, we we appreciate you being honest with us. >> Yeah. I'm sorry. >> You know, here, I'll take that. >> Thank you, bud. >> Appreciate the honesty. Okay. >> Yeah. I'm sorry. I didn't I I knew I was going to get in trouble. That's why I gave it back to the guy. I didn't think he was going to I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> I should apologize to the guy. >> Appreciate you being cooperative with us. We'll try to get out of your hair as soon as we can. Okay. No, >> that's fine. I I know I'm in trouble for this one, but damn. >> I just got out of trouble. >> What'd you get in trouble for? >> I'm so sorry. I got to pay rent two weeks. I went down to the social security office to get my social security card. That was stupid. I should have just took the butt back. >> What'd you get in trouble for last time? >> Uh, it was paraphernalia. >> Oh, are you trying to get off of using? >> Yeah, I'm I'm currently so Well, I'm two weeks sober. >> Good, dude. That's awesome. >> I have I have an apartment now, so I have to pay rent. >> Oh, do you have any roommates or >> I have my girlfriend. Oh. So, what I'm going to have you do, you're just going to stand there, okay? And you're just going to look this way. We're going to have an officer drive by you, okay? And we'll just have you look at the at the vehicle, okay? >> Could I be a 101 identification, which is where we bring the victim of the crime in our patrol vehicle, and we drive by slowly so that they can get a look at the suspect without having the possibility of confrontation. You probably have a seat if you want. wearing a hat. >> I might have been. >> Might have been. >> Yeah. When I when I was running, it might have fell off. >> Okay. Did you have a bottle of like soda, Mountain Dew, or anything like that? >> Yeah. >> What happened with those? >> Yeah, I dropped it. I think >> you dropped it >> when I jumped over a wall. >> When you jumped over a wall, you dropped the soda bottle. >> I think so. Yeah. Cuz I when I jump to over the wall, I realized I didn't have it anymore. >> Okay. Put your hands behind. >> Hey, that that wasn't that was kind of Wow, >> it was fast, but >> very fast. I'm being cooperative. >> Yeah, we'll just watch. >> Bring anything to our facilities. Class 2 felony. >> Oh, I know. I'm not safe. When we first contacted him, he pretty much admitted everything. He said he took the scooter from the victim's residence. And then from that point, we didn't really ask him any more questions because we didn't want to selfinccriminate further. He's going to be booked into our jail for either it can be trespassing or theft, just dependent upon what the victim wants to prosecute for. Yeah, I think I think really the determining factor on that is that this guy went into a fenced commercial yard or I'm sorry, a fence residential yard and took an item that knowingly didn't belong to him. >> Yeah. >> Whether, you know, he intended to return it or not, that's that's not really something we can determine here on scene, but >> um definitely going into someone's yard, taking property that doesn't belong to you, and then just cuz you got caught, you leave it not enough to to not >> get charged with it. We got a vehicle collision. Uh, two vehicles. They're in the roadway. Uh, we're right up the road, so we're going to respond and see what's going on with that. >> PIO 297. >> Copy. Toyota Caddy clear. >> I was just putting I never Is everyone okay? Yeah. >> Hey guys. >> In the eyes and I just >> Okay. Okay. I didn't even hit the brakes. >> Is this your vehicle? >> Which vehicle were you in? >> That one right there. >> This one? Okay. >> Yeah. There was. And I hit him and he didn't stop. >> Vehicle one's going to be Arizona. Adam 42. >> Okay. Do you know what the vehicle looked like? >> I have I have no idea. I don't know. >> Okay. >> Vehicle two, George Edward 8. You have you got your ID with you? >> My insurance is at home with my wife. >> I've got two. There might have been a third vehicle involved, but I only have two here. So, if we do >> you have like on your phone or anything? >> I don't have anything on my phone like that. She just got his new insurance park up here on 24th Street. Take the dog. >> Oh, okay. You got a dog in there? >> Yeah. She's not too happy. >> Okay. >> When we arrived on scene to this collision, um looks like there's two vehicles here that were involved. There was a third vehicle. um but it had left prior to us getting here. Um so the driver here that was ultimately responsible for the vehicle um is going to get talked to by these officers. Not sure if he's going to get his ticket or not for failure to control speed to avoid a collision. Luckily all involved parties were okay. So this came out as a hot call about two subjects fighting inside. Uh sounds like two males, two men. Um, the person who called us was locked outside, so we had very little info. Sounds like there also might be someone armed with a knife. So, we've got units on scene. We're arriving uh probably about eighth in the stack now. I don't know if I hit the gas. Right. There you go. Keep slide stepping. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. >> Now, slowly make your way back, but do not turn around. >> Keep coming back. Stop. Slide step to the right. Slide step to your right. To the right. [Music] So, her and I were going to come down to Mesa and look at a trailer that we thought we were going to buy together. And I get down to Mesa here with the the four of them, Ree, my my girlfriend Reeba and her friend Sarah and her boyfriend, and next thing I know, it's like it's like Reeba don't want nothing to do with me. >> Do you know what started the argument? >> No. >> So, they just started fighting. >> Well, we've been drinking. I'm sure that was part of the problem. >> Okay. So they just started arguing and then that's when you and and Sarah went upstairs >> like to get in a room together. >> Okay. >> And >> what were you hearing when they were fighting? Was it yelling? Did it sound like anyone was getting pushed around? I was yelling, but with Mike, my >> husband, >> technically not, but >> Yeah. >> So, we have two couples in here >> drinking, having a good time. From out of state, right? >> Yeah, they're from out of state. >> So, so from out of state, they're here to have a good time. They're in an Airbnb >> and just got too much for them. Started fighting and now two of them going to jail. Exactly. [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
