The suspect was a woman who refused to pay for her order. When the officers arrived, done nothing. Wrong. >> I know that. >> I've done nothing. >> I know. You don't have to make a big scene about it, Catherine. >> She's just asking for you to go ahead and pay the bill. >> Okay. No problem. >> Okay. >> No problem. >> Go call the police. >> We We are the police. >> Yep. Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have your card or cash or whatever? However you want to take care of your bill. That way she can cash out. Okay. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> Nobody said you did. All right. They're not going to bother. They're just here to make sure that you're okay as you fall asleep. The camera fall saw you fall asleep. They're just doing their job. But I just need you to pay. But you're good. You can go to your flight safely. Okay. You just want to make sure you get to your flight safely. You >> okay? That's all. >> Nobody's harassing you. Nobody's trying to bother you. Just making sure you're okay. >> It was clear that the woman was mentally unstable. She could have easily resolved the situation by following the officer's instructions. Yet, she chose to linger, denying any wrongdoing for no reason. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> I I'm aware of that, but they're asking >> I don't think you are. >> They're asking you to pay your bills so you can leave. >> I just need you to figure out where we're paying will be closed. Okay. >> Okay. >> How dare you? >> Okay. I'm not We're not doing that. >> Ma'am. Ma'am, we got law enforcement here. I just need you to pay your bill. That's it. We're wasting time, please. >> I've done nothing wrong. I've done nothing wrong. >> I've [screaming] done nothing wrong. >> My name is Christine. I'm from New York. My name is Christine. I'm from New York. >> So tell me what you want from me. I want nothing new. >> This is your first time staying up a little bit. Just stay right where you are. What you could do is again for the 5 millionth time, go in that purse, grab out some form of money, a debit card, credit card, something wrong. >> All right. >> Yeah, she's just going to keep playing dumb. >> I'm not. >> She clearly understood what the officers were saying, but she steadfastly [music] refused to cooperate, instead choosing a poor path. >> Tell me what it is, but you're definitely not sober nor willing to pay. So, that's not really helping us right now. 72. >> Arrest me. Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. Arrest me. Arrest me. Arrest me. Stay in your corner. I've done nothing. I've done nothing wrong. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> Can I talk to you, please? I'm Officer Gonzalez. >> I've done nothing wrong. You have done something wrong because >> like they explained to you, man, listen to me. >> You haven't done nothing wrong. >> We gave you ample opportunity to pay the bill. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> You haven't done that. Now, you've done wrong cuz one death for services. You haven't paid for the drinks that you received. You are intoxicated. You're not supposed to be in a public place intoxicated for your safety and the public safety and more for your safety cuz you're intoxicated. We want to make sure you're safe and nothing take no one takes advantage you or you get hurt, you fall, slip. All right? So, we're here to try to, you know, we do want to help you as well. That's why we're here. And you keep repeating yourself. Now, if you don't pay for what you the services, you'll go to jail. You'll go to jail. You haven't gone to your person talking about. >> Although she kept repeating, I do nothing wrong. Her escalating tension began to disrupt the bar, prompting the officers to act promptly to prevent things from getting worse. >> All right. >> Remember when you kept asking for that? >> I'm not doing anything. >> Begging for it. >> All right. >> Ma'am, could you go ahead uh turn around and put your hands behind your back? Okay. >> Do you have anything that that are sharp on you by any chance, ma'am? >> No. >> Do you have anything uh that maybe considered contraband uh like at the jail? Because if you introduce any type of uh like drugs or any type of You can go ahead and lean up against that if you need to. I don't want you falling down. Um, and I'm going to put these handcuffs. Okay. So, >> it's they're not made for comfort. Okay. So, you want to put two fingers in between it. All right. Just to make sure. >> All right. And I'm going to do two fingers right here. Like I said, they're not made for comfort. Okay. >> At this point, the bar staff also gave their statements about what they knew regarding the incident, which partly explained why she was in such a state. >> Yeah. She also has pills in her, I'm sure. uh well the situation come in. She sat down and asked for a double te so she wasn't drunk but she she was crying because she had she her boyfriend broke up with her and said that her family his family is from Mexican didn't like like her no more cuz she's white. I said that's really unfortunate. And I said, you know, some people in life it was either good or evil, right? >> And and she was fine then. And then um she asked for one more. >> Mhm. >> I was giving her some advice like you know going through a breakup like work on yourself, go to the gym. >> I talked her for like 10 minutes >> and then she asked one more. I gave her one more double and then she um started falling asleep and then the guy from New York tried to help her, right? And I asked her to pay her bill and I said, "Hey, I can't have you sleeping here." And then she started doing it again. >> And then I think the camera stopped. >> Yeah. >> Or one of you. Yeah. Probably the camera saw. I hadn't called yet cuz I was trying to alleviate all the work. >> Yeah. >> No wor. >> On the way to the vehicle, she continued insisting on her innocence, even as it made things more difficult for the person trying to calm her down. >> Ma'am, I think tomorrow you're going to see things maybe different. No, I've done nothing wrong. >> George, if you want to just do a quick scan. We don't have a female, so I did a quick a pat down on the out with outside of my hand. That's the best I can do. >> I've done nothing. >> I haven't really been able to explore the waistband, but it appears that there's it's flat. There's nothing. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> We copy. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> Okay. All right. The inside looks good. All right. You're going to do what we're going to do is we're going to go uh your backside first and then just watch your head. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> I understand what you're saying now. >> No, you don't. >> I do. All right. >> So, we're going to turn around this way and I'm going to just >> I've done nothing wrong. >> So, back on up. Watch your head. >> I've done nothing wrong. >> So, um just go ahead and try to scoot with your legs. >> You're a piece of I didn't do anything. I did nothing wrong. >> Scoot over a little bit more. I DID NOTHING WRONG. >> I UNDERSTAND. WE NEED YOU TO BRING YOUR LEGS IN. OKAY. >> I can't bring my >> I'm going to help. I'm going to help. >> No. It hurts. It hurts. >> Which Which part hurts? >> It's not made for comfort, >> but it shouldn't be painful. >> All right. >> I did nothing wrong. >> I'm going to put this uh seat belt on. Okay. >> All right. >> I did nothing wrong. >> Okay. So, your seat is off. >> I DID NOTHING WRONG. IF YOU WANT TO GO AHEAD AND LEAN BACK. >> It hurts. >> This here. Hold on. Here's what you do. >> It hurts. It's me. >> You know what? Maybe here's what I'll do. >> In the end, she was charged with petty theft. Even when someone believes they've done nothing wrong, refusing to cooperate can escalate a situation and lead to legal consequences. Even more complicated, he used language barriers to hinder the police. The >> jail Why? >> What do you mean? Why? >> That's common sense. >> People reach. >> On December 5th, 2024, police received a call from Walmart about a suspicious man who kept taking gift cards into the bathroom, then placing them back on the shelves. But the investigation revealed something far more dangerous. The man was Ming Schu, 32, who faced 308 counts of counterfeiting and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. The situation instantly escalated, forcing officers to confront him. >> Okay, >> you got this. Then I'll go back. >> Yeah, you're as soon as somebody buys him right. This is huge. Take your hands off. So, were those cards on him, too? >> Yes. >> Yep. All of them. >> Evidently, there's some big scams going on. >> Yeah. Oh, they use these things all the time for that. >> Oh, yeah. >> You got ID? >> I No idea. >> I trust I trust the America. >> You what? >> America. Yeah, you're here. I I >> clearly he understood everything the officer said, but communication was still a problem for him. So he pulled out a translation app hoping it could speak for him. >> So he put people put money in these while he's in the store or he's just trying to get all these. >> He took them on to the bathroom. >> Oh, okay. So he's put numbers on and then transferring somewhere and using the card. >> I should off? Yeah, let me see your passport. They came in by line was not brought in when it was >> Where are you living at? >> Where do you Where's home? Where do you live? Where are you staying at? >> Clearly, he had no ID and no passport. His situation screamed undocumented. Sure enough, investigators found he entered the United States in September through California without proper papers, and his actions were part of a wider ring that forged gift cards to scam Ohio residents. In fact, he understood English perfectly, but he pretended not to, making things harder for the police. >> I get that, but I really don't care. So, See these ones I haven't tampered with. >> How did you get here? >> These ones were though or >> I don't know. >> They take them here as in this Walmart. >> So they already tampered with these ones. >> They have what they do is they go tamper with the whatever information they need. Put them back out. The customer buys it, loads it, and then they also they get the fun. >> You may have all that information already. >> You may. >> Yeah. I'm not putting I'm not putting these back out. I can't. >> No, I know. So >> yeah. So >> couple >> West Virginia from Walmart anyhow. >> So I'm trespassing him. >> Um look they were wondering if you can get the stuff that you guess once they search the car. >> But you're about to go to jail. a bunch of different people throughout his region or whatever they >> the police had already formed their conclusions certain he couldn't escape justice yet he kept pretending he didn't know his actions were wrong >> I'm not sure why you were here but you're about to go to jail >> what do you mean That's common sense. >> He just came out of the bathroom, right? He's passed the last point of sale. He took it to the bathroom. He passed the registers. >> Why was you in the bathroom? >> What are you thinking, Serge? I mean, technically it's theft. He walked past the last point of sale with these concealed in his coat. That's theft right there just by taking these. He's got to have ID or guess what I mean? He's going to jail if you don't. >> This wasn't the first time he had run into trouble with Walmart. He had appeared in multiple states carrying stacks of fake gift cards in his vehicle. But this [music] time, there was no way he could escape law enforcement like before. Is that you? >> Uh, yeah. >> Yeah, I know it. >> This ain't the first Walmart you've had problems with. >> You English no good. You You >> You're going to jail. >> You're going to start comprehending English real quick. >> I I speak Yeah, >> I I speak. >> All right, hang on a second here. He says, "Am I guilty of any crime?" >> Yes. >> That's funny cuz he's in this one. >> No. So I bet you have to hear you call an interpreter. >> This is an interpreter. >> I just say we ask them all. >> I don't think >> these cars don't have any money. These you still have to pay for. You can't just take these. >> These are not free. >> And you concealed them. Wonder >> your coach. >> No, sir. I >> You didn't go past these registers. >> We know we did though, right? >> I put in my pocket and went to go to the bathroom. I haven't gone out yet. Doesn't matter. You went past the last point of sale. So I put in my pocket and went to the bathroom right there. That's intent to steal. >> The police decided to take him outside. In fact, [music] his outstanding warrants and undocumented status alone were enough grounds to arrest him. >> I'm going to ask him where he lives at real quick so we can try to get an ID on him. >> Is he clerks or anything? Uh, so please I I I going to stand there. I I Okay. >> I came in from Texas. Is that where you live? >> Mexico. Okay. My API is on the little videos. >> No. No. >> Okay. >> You cannot go past the register and have merchandise in your coat. >> That means you're not going to pay for it. >> Hey, we're not. >> All right. I keep going back and forth on this. >> What do you just want me to hook him for death then for now? >> I want you to hook him for an investigative pole and do the report. I will either charge him with a misdemeanor in the morning or we'll just figure it out. >> He plead guilty to 299 counts of counterfeiting and one of corrupt activity and was sentenced to 6 years in Ohio State Prison. Overconfidence and deception only lead to bigger consequences. No matter how clever one thinks they are, the law catches up. Always play by the rules. Shortcuts can cost you years behind bars. In the next case, this woman who tried to shop, but [music] in a very different way. >> You don't put the items anywhere. And if you were just doing that, why you you do it so secretly like that? >> Wait, cannot top it. >> You know, you're actually barely. Come on. >> On May 17th, 2025, officers rushed to Walmart after reports of a woman concealing items in her purse. Caught in the act, she busily sifted through merchandise, unaware that she had been discovered. Hey ma'am. So right now you're just getting detained for shoplifting. Okay. >> Oh no. I'm buying stuff. >> Okay. So right now you're just being detained. You're not arrested or anything. So as of now you are >> But I'm trying to buy >> Do what? >> I'm buying some stuff. >> Are you buying super glue? >> Yeah, I'm buying some stuff >> in your purse. >> Yeah. Super glue r. >> I going to buy >> Okay. And when you're going to buy it, do you normally put items in your purse? >> Well, sometime they um like at they let you buy. >> We're 10:26 right now. >> Okay. >> So, >> but I ain't walked out the store yet. I'm feeling vi. >> So, what I'm going to tell you right now is as against the law, you can't conceal items within your purse because that is part of statute. So, as I as I said, right now you're right now you're detained. Yeah. with like a purse, like a like a a shopping bag that you buy from them. That's your purse. So, right now, you're just detained. Okay. Until we can see video footage and from there they want to press charges, they can figure that out and you can talk with them about that. Okay. >> Can I talk Can I talk to them? Because I I'll you know what I'm saying? Like, >> we'll we'll review the video. >> Okay. >> But I want to buy the stuff. She insisted she wasn't stealing, claiming she just hadn't paid yet. But concealing items in her purse was clearly wrong, and she even tried to justify her actions. >> But I'm saying like when you go to Kroger's and Publix, you can put stuff in the bag >> in in a in a dedicated shopping bag that has been bought by them. It's a recyclable bag. That's your purse that has all your other personal items in it. >> It ain't nothing ain't nothing. It's empty. Ain't nothing in there but my phone and my money. >> With your personal items, right? So your purse, your little phone, and then everything else in there. So with the statue, it is concealing items >> in a bag. >> I went, you going to go ahead and head over there so you can talk to him and everything. Okay. So >> walk with us. >> At this point, the suspect was taken to the loss prevention office where staff clearly showed her everything on the screen. Yet she still tried to twist the story. >> Um so Miss is stating that, you know, obviously, hey, I'm going to buy these. Um, I was just putting them in my purse. Uh, so I go to check out. Um, so it's probably here to dispel any kind of confusion as to why this is shoplifting. And, um, if you'd like to press charge this, ma'am. >> Yeah. So, um, did y'all get everything out of the >> Yeah, there's like a dozen items that were in the purse. >> So, I mean, you have a cart. So, the cart is what the what's, you know, let's be real. I mean, honestly, you have a cart. That's what the cart is for, not your purse. You don't put the item in your first. And if you were just doing that, why you you do it so secretly like that? That's not how people shop and get their >> That's not secretly on right there on the island. >> Okay. Um Well, yeah, I want to prosecute. So, we'll let the um the judge decide. That's fine. So, the judge may agree with you. The judge may say, "Hey, she was just putting it in her first." >> Okay. But I'm saying I got I can't pay for I was going to pay for the stuff. [music] Like I wasn't going to walk out the store with the stuff. >> Okay. And you can tell the judge that. That's fine. >> But I'm telling you, like I really don't I got my child outside. >> Is your child in the car, Jody? >> Yeah. Like I won't pay for for the car. Can I just pay for it? >> Jody, which car is he in here? She in? Cuz we got a bigger issue now. Was what car? You said you were dropped off here. >> No, I had caught a ride. Is do you have a child outside, ma'am? >> Yeah. Yeah, with my ride. I don't know if they >> Your child's with your ride. >> Yeah, I I didn't leave my child in a car by the >> Okay. >> The management's decision had been made and the police were ready to act. Yet, the woman still refused to accept the truth, lingering as if she could handle the situation on her own. >> Joey, give me your stuff. >> What? >> Give me your stuff. >> Come on. I'm saying >> Jody, come on. >> Wait, can I talk to her? >> You know, you're actually barred from supposed to be here. Come on. >> Okay, but at least then >> Jody. >> Ma'am. Okay, but I'm trying to talk. Can I >> You don't need to talk to her. This is our business. >> Okay. Okay. >> You're barred from this location. Come on. >> Okay. >> Jody, come on. >> Officer has stand up, please. >> Just bring those up and get a receipt. I won't. >> This is their you you violated the the trespass. So that's on them. They they they take you for that. That's what I mean. >> I'm saying I miss I know. You know what I'm saying? Like what it look like, but I have the money to pay. >> Right. But you weren't supposed to be on the property to begin with. >> I thought they said um I was barred from OK. Well, you stole from them, too. So, you borrowed from them, too. I would assume >> you got caught in both places. So, how >> come on? >> There's nothing else to talk about. >> I'm just trying to see how long. >> Come on, sweetheart. >> We'll tell you. >> We'll tell you how long we have in the system. >> We have it on the system. How long your body? >> We'll just do this out here. That way, ain't nobody else around. Okay. >> So, will I get out tonight? >> Probably. During the walk to the patrol car, officers continuously informed her of what she was about to face. But by then, her worry for her fate had come far too late >> for criminal trespass. Yeah. >> You know how long? >> I mean, here in Athens, it's usually pretty quick. Like 24 hours or less. >> 24 hours. >> I mean, that's a day. >> I don't want to do a day. >> I don't want you to do a day either. >> I ain't going to get no B when I get there. >> You should. You don't have any pockets, do you? Mm-m. >> Okay. >> You don't have anything on you that you don't want to take to the jail? >> So, what are they charging me with? >> Um, criminal trespass due to the barring and uh shoplifting. Obviously, I don't know how many counts that you have, whether it be a misdemeanor or a felony. I think it's up to like four. You have to shoplift like four or five times before it's a felony. >> It's not that many. >> Okay. So, it just be a misdemeanor shoplifting. >> Will you think I get a bunch today? >> I should be able to. I don't know. The woman was charged with criminal trespassing and retail theft. By refusing to face the truth and trying to justify hiding items in her purse, she revealed a lesson. Excuses cannot erase wrongdoing. And denial only ensures harsher consequences. Next, this shoplifter even acted like a lawyer, as if she had the authority to argue with the police. This is why people get your elbow off of me to go through my purse. Marijuana is legal. You can put that back in my purse. You have no right to go through the rest of my items. >> On April 17th, 2025, police received a report from Walmart about a woman acting suspiciously, continuously stuffing clothing into her purse while glancing around. She walked out casually, unaware that loss prevention staff and police were waiting for her. Can I see the church? Can I see the camera? >> She's going to get involved in proudly. Hey, >> the woman confident she could walk away, didn't realize her actions had been fully recorded, prompting the police to immediately intervene. >> You guys don't have any. You don't have to, man. >> Can you please let me go, please? >> Can you let me go, please, so I can do this? >> You didn't even give me a chance. >> You didn't even Sir, you you didn't GIVE ME A CHANCE. You >> didn't ch >> You did not. YOU WON'T EVEN GET OFF OF ME. How can I do that? >> Put your hand behind your back. Can you please get my sword? You know what? This is This is how you guys treat me. This is how you guys treat people. Get your elbow off of me. Get your elbow off of me. I'm just trying to get my shoe on. You don't have to be a >> You guys allow me to do that as a woman. Thanks. And when I'm done, >> can you please get my shoe on, please? Thank you. Can Can you please put my shoe on? >> You over. >> The woman even seemed more concerned with her appearance than the crime she committed as she continued to deny the very actions she had just carried out. >> You were fighting me the whole time. >> I was not fighting you at all. You literally grabbed me and smashed me against the the put your >> And then you put your your knee on my back and I told you I have a spine injury. >> Put your feet under. >> I can't. I have a spine injury. You have to put You have to literally stand me up. >> Yeah. With your legs. >> I'm not able to do that. I'm telling you that. >> [ __ ] You straight put your knee in my back and my spine. And I told you I have a spine injury. You're big as looking at me in my spine. Start fire. >> Yeah. >> Excuse me. >> Are you injured? >> Someone help me, please. >> Hey, are you injured at all? >> Yeah, I would like to get checked out. Yeah, they're on the way. >> That's fine. Can you please help me get up? >> I can't help you get up. If you can't help me, >> I need two people to stand me up, sir. You just put your knee in my spine. I have a spine injury. >> Okay. Are you able to actually assist me? Cuz I'm not >> How can I assist you? I don't have my hands. >> No, use your legs to stand up. >> I can't. >> Okay, then I can't just lift you up. You're not >> [ __ ] You're not 5 lb either. your big ass gun on the tower. >> Just wait and I'll get another officer over here to help me. >> No, it's me. They didn't evening tell me what the reason was. >> The job left. They told you. >> So, what are your injuries? Is this your back? >> I told you what they are. I don't have to say nothing else to you. >> Clearly, her claimed injury didn't erase her guilt. The police had to act carefully as she presented herself more like a victim than someone fully aware of her wrongdoing. What are you arresting me for? What am I being arrested for? >> Obstruction and theft third. >> Theft third. Theft third is what? For what exactly? You don't even know what I stole. Shoplifting. >> You don't even know what I stole. And And furthermore, isn't there a limit for when you take people to jail? >> It sounds like you're pretty familiar with this question. >> You know what? Because I actually want to be a lawyer one day. That's why. That's why I'm familiar with some future lawyer. I don't have a I don't have a record. >> Future lawyer. >> I don't have a record. I'm just somebody trying to I'm just somebody trying to make it in life. Oh, you're fat ass. >> Take it off. Yeah. You like the other side? >> I need help. I have a spine injury. >> So, can you please be careful? He put his knee in my spine and I told him I had a spine injury. >> Uh, we can solve that problem. I don't resist. >> I'm not resisting. >> No, you're not. But >> I wasn't resisting in the first place. So, don't tell me not to resist. >> Okay. We're going to start off this way. All right. Thank you. I appreciate that. >> That's not how they >> I'm not at all. >> Okay, that's fine. >> No, I'm not treated like everybody else. I'm a black woman. >> Yeah, you're black and you see you just >> inside the lost prevention room. She kept denying every accusation, even acting with a sense of entitlement as if she were the one in charge. >> She took underwear and shirts and she >> I did not take underwear. I paid for my underwear. >> We have underwear and shirts or jeans the shirt and paid for the underwear. That's what I was saying. Then >> is there anything else? >> There's nothing else. It's just shirts and you don't can't you don't have >> Yes, he has legal authority. Stop my >> No, I did not authorize >> exercise your right to remain silent then. Listen, I did not authorize him to go through my >> You don't have to. You're under arrest for shoplifting. >> You know what? And I didn't authorize you. And you have the wrong ID. >> Oh my god. >> Sir, >> no. Nobody's going to We're going to stop talking to you. >> I can go through. >> That's the wrong ID. >> Yes, >> sir. Just Why are you going to get all that stuff out of my purse? It's just a couple shirts. >> Don't go through my purse. You're not That's it. That's all I have. You don't have to go through my purse. Marijuana is legal. You can put that back in my purse. You have no right to go through the rest of my items. >> You're going to advise you of your rights. >> No, I'm not. He has. Why are you going through the rest of my purse? >> Argue in court. That's your legal right. >> Okay, that's fine. I will do that. >> All right, man. I'm going to advise you of your rights right now. Having these rights in mind that you wish to talk to us. >> Listen, I will I will cooperate. But I don't like how he's going through my purse. There's nothing else in there for you to go through my purse. I would appreciate if you not not went through the rest of my purse. You're going to go to jail today. So be cut for obstruction and theft third. Okay. >> No, listen. I I have every You can >> So for that reason items, I need to actually look through this. >> Take me to jail. I don't have a record. >> Well, you are going to I'm homeless. Okay. >> Even when she finally realized she couldn't deny the truth any longer, she admitted what she did, but with an unbelievably foolish excuse. >> Take me to jail. I'm homeless. >> Like, I'm homeless. That's why I took a few shirts. >> Where's home if you're homeless? >> What do you mean? Where's home? >> You said you're home, but you want to be taken home. >> I went in my car. In my car. That's where I belong. In my car. >> Which car is yours outside? >> Sir, so you're taking me to jail? >> Yes. >> For what? >> For obstruction. You fought me. >> I did not fight you, sir. You >> I gave you a lawful order. Why can't I be taken to court? >> Again, see there's that self- entitled thing. Anybody who commits a crime can be taken self. But I'm telling you, if you commit a crime law, I don't >> Well, you are today, you shouldn't have committed shoplifting. When the medical team arrived, she was checked for injuries and after that she was taken away with no excuse left that could save her. >> Are you wanting to go to the hospital today? >> Sir, I want to go home. Um we'll hold it to your ear and you can talk to her. >> Does that sound good? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I appreciate that. >> Yeah. Thank you. And I appreciate you being cooperative. >> Finally, she was charged with theft and obstruction. Sometimes people think excuses or drama can erase their actions. But the moment a crime is caught on camera, every lie collapses. Accountability always arrives whether they're ready or not. Next, this woman went even further, acting like a victim. >> I'm tired. I've worked all day and I'll begin. But they're going to steal my stuff and I get in trouble for it. >> Were you concealing items in >> Why was I No, no, no, no, no, no. I don't No, no, no, no, no, no. On June 21st, 2023, police received a call from a shopping center reporting [music] a woman suspected of concealing items. When officers approached, she immediately began speaking to them in a manner that made her appear to be the victim. >> I don't mind following the stuff that they took. >> Okay, come over here. >> No, I didn't do nothing wrong. I'm not with anything. I want my belongings. They won't let me pay for my stuff without my belongings. They have my phone stuff. That's not fair. I didn't do nothing wrong. >> It's in the cart with the what? It's got the bone box and everything with different I don't even know what the name of it is, but it's brand new. And my blanket and my damn um it's a raincoat. My dad's rain coat for his motorcycle. Now that that's all that's not fair. I've not left the store napkin. I've not I didn't even make it to the register. >> Okay. >> One of you want to come with me to get this stuff for her. >> Wait, stay out here. Watch. She goes in there. I'm not giving nobody my name. I didn't do nothing wrong. Okay. Well, if you want us to help you obstructing, >> how am I getting obstructing? >> Did we tell you to stop? >> I stopped. Okay. >> I want to speak to your supervisor. What's your name? >> Derek. Derek Green. I can't sit on that. >> The woman was clearly in a highly unstable state of mind. Even as the officers tried to gather more information, she refused to cooperate and repeatedly demanded special treatment. >> I want a supervisor. >> Okay. What is uh your date of birth? >> I want a supervisor, please. >> Supervisor's tied up. >> I don't care. I want one. You have to give me one. >> Yes, you do. You're treating me like a criminal, AND THAT'S NOT FAIR. LISTEN, if you just came to talk to us, we won't have to beat you and all this extra stuff. >> Yeah. Yeah. My house just burned around and I'm not going to be treated like this trying to buy stuff for it. I'm tired. I've worked all day and I'll be game. They're going to steal my stuff and I get in trouble for it. Nobody knows where it's at. So, they stole my stuff and I get in trouble for it. >> Nobody said you're in trouble right now. >> I feel humiliated. I feel disrespected and I feel no. >> Okay. I'm sorry that feel that way, but we have a job to do. >> No. And you guys should And you guys don't know. No, no, no. >> At this point, another officer spoke with the store manager. According to their account, her behavior had been highly suspicious, even bizarre. >> Another manager here. Yeah, they just saw her like fill up cards and then it saved everything. I mean, like I was think she took her phone like like selling cars without her knowing she's been around looking for stuff has been disappearing like >> she has been. >> Yeah. So I don't I don't know everything. That's just like from what I've heard this is weird. Like we don't normally call you the way we did. >> She didn't unless she actually did it called you way >> before. Okay. So, but I don't unless there's something I don't know or something, but >> I mean, >> yeah, I don't know. >> That's just I don't I just want to let you know you might be. >> Okay. >> I just that's my that's my side of things. >> I want to investigate it first. I'm I'm pissed. I want my belongings. >> You'll get them. >> I'll get them when they're ready to give them to me. >> No. >> When they're ready, they get to steal my stuff and I'm told I have to wait. But yet, I didn't go nowhere near cash register with their stuff. I didn't even push the car all the way around the store. I left them sitting in the front register so I didn't have to push around the store. And then I get in trouble for it. Are you serious? This is what's happening. If Can you go to the restroom with me? Like put toilet paper down there or something so I don't my pants. Tomorrow's my mom's birthday. Go look. Tomorrow I didn't even take the car outside. I've got a rose bush from there. That woman came out there and told me that I couldn't couldn't be out there. >> Even after receiving her items, she believed her business was done. Yet, she continued insisting on proving her innocence. >> Hey, where you going? >> No, you're not. >> Why? What? What did I do? Please tell me what I got wrong. Please, please tell me what I did wrong this year. >> What? >> I didn't do nothing wrong. I didn't push no cart outside. I went out there and bought a bruise bush for my mother. >> I know I'm bleeding all over myself, but I'm This is humiliation and I was pissed. I'm tired. I'm ready to go. >> Do you have an ID in there? >> I should have a wallet in here. Yeah, I should. There's no >> What does it all look like? >> It's brown. No. Okay, >> I'm going to go look at a picture real quick. >> Although she initially faced a possible trespass after confirming her identity, the officers realized her earlier claims about her identity were completely [music] questionable. >> Let me see a picture. You're looking at me. I have five. >> That's not you. >> Is it not you? >> I had about 80 lbs on me. Where'd your mole go? >> What mole? >> Oh, it was removed by a doctor. >> Oh, you got it removed. They're just trying on right now. So, we haven't seen anything so we can't pursue. [music] >> Okay. >> But like canvas is moving back. >> Yeah. >> So, they're in the changing thing right now. >> Yeah. Most likely try to return their stolen stuff for a new product. So, we'll wait till they're at the register before we make the jumper assumption. >> Okay. So, have you seen this person before? >> Yes. Literally just everything in here is mine. I didn't even >> I literally just got I didn't even go to the register yet. >> Caught off guard, the man immediately became defensive. Even though the officers had only asked a few simple questions, insisting the items in his bag were his. Yet, he couldn't offer any proof to back it up. >> Bro, that's crazy. Bro, that's Man, if they didn't want me shopping here, I just had to say that, bro. I didn't even get to do anything in here yet. I was going to the register right after this, bro. >> Okay, that's it's all good, man. If If you're not >> with I don't even So, that's crazy. So, what's the problem? Like, you putting me on blast in front of everybody making me look like a certain way, bro. Like we're just investigating what they bro. >> The suspect kept complaining that he was being treated unfairly and began blaming the officers for embarrassing him. Turns out this man's towering ego had its reasons. Let's see just how powerful he really is. >> This is strange. Excuse me. What's your badge number, sir? >> That's 18. >> I I didn't hear you. You walking away from me. >> I asked you for your badge number. You walking away from me, sir. >> 18. What's his badge number? >> What's his name? >> Huh? They're saying you didn't have all that stuff in the bag. >> Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. [laughter] >> All right. You're not talking. >> Are you pushing me? I didn't even >> Because you're not talking to her. You're talking to us. >> I literally just came in here. >> Okay. You keep saying that. I'm asking if you've ever received the stuff that's in there. >> No. >> No. Okay. You have some way that you can prove that that stuff is yours. >> I have a whole profile. Yes. >> Okay. >> And I wasn't finished shopping though. I wasn't even finished shopping. >> That's fine. We're just trying to get the information. >> All right. So, can I finish do what I'm doing? >> No, because we're trying to determine if there's anything in there that's not supposed to be in there based on what they're reporting to us. So, if you can provide proof of that, we're done here. >> But, okay. All right. I'm not going to shop. >> Okay. It's It's a detention for investigation at this point. You're not going to shop. We're not going to let you shop. You need to prove to us that you didn't take anything crazy, bro. I don't understand this [ __ ] bro. >> The suspect tried to stall, claiming he had just arrived and wasn't done shopping yet. But when asked for a receipt and ID, he dodged the questions, testing the officer's patience more and more. >> Where is your ID? >> I have an ID, but I don't understand why I got to give you my ID. >> You cannot prove that all >> I do. IT'S IN MY ACCOUNT, BRO. Give a store ID and we can look at your account. >> I haven't even came in here with all these stuff. She didn't even see me leave the dressing room YET TO KNOW WHAT I HAD IN MY BAG. BRO, THAT'S CRAZY. BRO, that's discrimination. >> I [laughter] just realized came in here like less than 5 minutes ago. Bro, she said that and my bag was not full. She didn't even see me come out the dressing room, bro. How can you say that? And I just watched her say she's not sure. That's That's [ __ ] up, bro. I got I got PBA cards. I got family that's a lawyer and a DA. Bro, I don't have to go through this [ __ ] bro. Yes, I look like a [ __ ] but I'm not a [ __ ] I'm a man before anything. I'm probably older than all all of y'all, bro. >> All right. All right. His relative might hold a high position, but that doesn't give him the right to challenge the police. The suspect couldn't prove a thing except repeatedly claiming he was being racially profiled. Just provide the name. Name your date of birth. >> I like you on camera. The shorty said that she's not sure. I got that on camera. I got them on camera lying and saying when I came out the room my bag wasn't full. When I came out the room they was all in front the room. I got all that on camera. >> All right. That's a check. All right. Cool. >> So I didn't eat. >> He kept shouting that the staff are lying, claiming he was being framed. But once officers confirmed his ID was fake, the mounting evidence in his attitude pushed their patience to the limit. >> On your ID, it was >> So at this point, you gave me an ID. That's the face. You gave us fake information. >> That's what I mean. >> 25. Y'all just wanted to cut me, bro. That's what I'm saying. Racist, bro. >> Racist, son. Racist. Racist. Racist. Y'all wanted to cuff me, bro. You wanted to do that from the jump. I never gave you no fake eyes. Everything is on camera. >> Everything is on camera, bro. Everything's on [ __ ] camera, bro. You see you remember you're black, bro. Lemon don't stop. >> Yes, it is. How? I didn't take anything in here. >> The suspect was later identified as 34year-old Marcus Hill. He now faces charges of theft, fraud, and providing false identification. crimes that could cost him up to a year in jail. Here's a hard lesson. Power may open doors, but it can't erase guilt. Once you break the law, no title or connection can shield you from justice. Next, a woman with no identity, no honesty, and no way to escape her crimes. >> Remember, everything is on camera. >> No, I get it. That's fine. But >> you lie to us. >> It's a good straight kick to the jail. >> I don't know what you're trying to get out of this. You're under arrest. On July 28th, 2024, police were dispatched to a Walmart after reports of a woman attempting to steal thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. Upon arrival, officers were able to track her every move through the store's surveillance cameras. >> She's doing a second return. Okay. Okay. He's trying to scan her her her digital receipt. >> Yeah. >> Just for the record, we have PC already for return fraud. >> He struggled last night. It's not scanning for whatever reason. >> Where's your auth guy? Is he gonna help you? >> I still have not been to a locator. He might actually be on lunch. >> We only had one today. I cannot find him anywhere. She's doing a second return for Sean. Actually, she might be doing a third return. >> Wow. Sounds like she needs to go to jail. >> Yeah. She's I I'm just I don't even want to know how many times she's gotten away on us. >> Tell your uh yellow vest, don't stop her. Just wave her on. >> Keep going. Keep going. >> Yeah. I swear to God if she goes into subway, I'm going to have a freaking stroke. No, we got the crime anyway already. So, we'll just contact her in Safeway. >> All right. So, he's giving her more cash now. >> Okay. >> Can't exactly tell how much cash he's pulling out. He's not making it easy for me to count. >> That's okay. >> All right. But he did give her a receipt. So, we'll just use that receipt. She put that money in her right pocket. No, she pulled it back out. >> She's going to be gone by the time we get there anyway. >> All right. She's moving away from the customer service. She did not try to return that speaker. >> Okay. So, she's going to walk out with it then. >> Yeah. She looks like she's coming to the GM or the pharmacy site. I lied. She turned around. >> Okay. >> What the [ __ ] Yep. She's going towards grocery now. >> Grocery. Okay. >> All right. She's in front of the nail salon. >> Okay. >> She's in front of Subway. Yeah, she's coming out. She's wearing a black shirt with like a Playboy bunny on the back. >> She out the store. >> Just as the woman thought she had gotten away and walked out of the store, police quickly moved in and arrested her on the spot. Let's see how she reacted. Yeah. Put your hands behind your back. Drop the receipts. Put your phone down. Put your hands behind your back. Do >> you have any weapons on you? >> No. Okay. >> You're under arrest for theft. I've been watching you for about a good 20 minutes already. >> I just paid for that, though. And I just went to the rescue. Sorry. >> Tried doing it yesterday, too. >> Everything was >> I didn't do anything yesterday. >> You got away. You're right. >> You're under arrest for theft. The speaker is not paid for. We know that already. This receipt shopping, you didn't select You selected these things from the store. I just pasted I just pasted those. I got the receipt right there. >> The suspect thought she could escape the charges with the receipts in her hand as proof of innocence. But with everything police had uncovered, those very papers became her one-way ticket to jail. >> Remember, everything was on camera. >> No, I get it. That's fine. But >> you lie to us. >> It's a good straight ticket to jail. >> Look at the receipt is what I was saying. >> Yeah, receipts are all fraudulent. We know already. You're not the first person that bought this up. Okay. So, anyway, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand your rights? Okay. So, we're going to escort Chief back to the loss prevention office. >> At that moment, police realized they had only uncovered part of the truth because even the woman's personal information had been completely fabricated. >> Okay, first off, we have to identify you. What is this nonsense? Tessa M comes back to a Talis P who's a male that's 611 175. >> Why would your brother come up as you? >> That's not my name though. I don't know why that >> I don't know either. >> There's driver status right there. >> Well, you better start thinking about different name cuz this one ain't working. You just said that that was your brother. >> No, I'm saying I don't. But if that's not me right there, >> you know, you got to keep your lies straight cuz I listen really well. >> Okay. What I'm trying to say is that his driver's status. >> I don't give a rat's ass about the driver status. I want to know who you are. I'm going to run it one more time and if not, you're you're just going to go to jail for providing false information to law enforcement. I don't give a [ __ ] about the driver's status. What is your real name? >> That's my name. >> That don't look like her. >> Oh, she's got both boys. >> What is your middle initial and what is your date of birth? >> 93. >> Nope. Comes back to Talison. 611 175 male. You're definitely not a male. >> Is your ID out of Washington? >> No, it's Portland, Oregon. >> It's out of Oregon. >> Yeah, >> it's in my purse. >> It's It's in your purse inside. >> That should be said. >> So, which one of these IDs is yours? Tessa. >> So, how many >> passport to the right? >> Yeah. Who are these? >> I'm not sure, sir. >> Her scheme had already been exposed. She stole the merchandise yesterday and came back today to return it for cash. But that was exactly what the store staff had been waiting for. Is she 100% the one that tried to get out yesterday? Um, >> we have my card. >> She didn't change her her clothes or anything >> really. She said she tried to use her card, but everything she said >> tried to take the card out of merchandise, but there was three managers that prevented her from doing it. >> No, they didn't stop me or anything. They were just standing around me. >> And that's when you decided that, oh, I'm not going to risk it getting caught because you were right there at the point of sale. Final point of sale took it out, >> right? My card declined. >> But you still took the cart all the way to the final point of sale. >> Yeah. Who does that? >> Well, you have to to bring it up. >> But your card got declined. How you going to pay for it? >> You leave your cart. >> Okay. you're going to be booked into jail cuz that's the only reasonable way we can identify you cuz you got so many IDs. You can't find your driver's license. So, that's the safest way for me cuz I don't want to get your name is not really Tessa. I don't want to get >> Tessa in trouble because you lied about your identity. >> I'm telling you the truth about my identity, you guys. It's right there. >> Which one? >> The Tessa. >> Like I said, I just grabbed that bag. >> It doesn't really look like you. >> I'm moving. Just grab my my bag out of there. Use that bag. So that's $649. That's not counting the refund from >> Wow. >> $649. >> Wow. >> What? Me? >> Yeah. >> I just paid for some though. >> Not even close to This ain't even close to $649. >> Have you ever been trespassed or anything from here, you guys? >> Don't be trespassed and cited and booked into jail. Even when the woman realized her plan had completely fallen apart and there was no way to talk her way out, she immediately came up with new tricks to try. >> Oh, come on. I find that hard to believe. >> Look, everything >> I've never done. >> Everything you said >> I've seen people since the time we contacted you >> with you the whole >> has either been a lie or some kind of roundabout crap. >> How has it been a lie? I've been honest about everything. >> I paid for that. >> No, I paid for some of it. As I said, >> you know what? We're not We're not dealing with semantics here. This is not an English language course. Okay. I have pretty good ears. I've been doing this for 30 years. I know when people lie to me. >> What What state were you born in? >> Portland. >> Oh my god. >> I was like a passport. >> More lies. >> What would be the difference? >> No. What do you mean? >> He just asked you. >> I didn't hear him say were you born in. I heard it. >> Okay. I thought he was talking about that. >> And you said Portland, Oregon. >> That's where I'm from. I'm sorry. That's just You guys have a lot going on right now. Like >> a lot going on. I got a lot going on, too. >> I'm sorry, you guys. I've never done this before. >> What's your last name? >> How do you spell it? >> Okay. What's your middle or sorry, what's your first name? >> Tessa. >> Tessa. What's your middle initial? >> M as in Mary. >> Yes. >> Why does your passport say L? >> Does not. >> That's not your passport all of a sudden. >> No, I didn't say that. >> Then what? >> You guys, >> you know what? I'm just going to do the psych based on what she's giving me and the jail can figure it out. >> You know, this could have been so easy. >> Answering everything. I've been telling you everything. >> Yeah, you're answering everything. That's great. But you everything's roundabout or a lie. >> It is not. >> Her identity couldn't be verified. And every lie she told only made things worse. But the police had no intention of giving up. They had already decided on their next move. >> We We already looked for your ID in there. >> Like, look, >> I don't know what you're trying to get out of this. You're under arrest. I get that >> we need to identify you. That's it. You're not We're not about to be Okay, you know what? We're sorry. We inconvenience you. >> No, you guys are I understand what I did was wrong. >> And that's why you're going to get booked today because they're going to take your fingerprints at jail and then they'll actually identify you. So, if you have any other warrants or anything like that, you can probably expect to sit there and serve that time for those warrants. If you have any felony warrants, what they'll do is they'll transport you to King County Jail and have you sit there. If you have any outer state warrants, they'll extradite you back to that state and you can serve your time there. >> No. >> Okay. That's that's just what I'm telling you is gonna happen. >> Okay. But I don't have that. >> Okay. Then if then you don't have to worry about it. Then you're just going to serve your time for today's incident. >> What is that? What is that much time? You guys I have >> I I cannot tell you. It's on the It's on the court system. >> And if I have to get that what? >> It's it's on the courts. So once once you go to jail, you're going to get you're going to have your hearing. The judge is going to determine all the facts whether they give you bail or no bail and then they'll go from there. >> In the end, she was charged with theft, refund fraud, and providing false identification. When you [snorts] try to lie your way out, you only dig yourself deeper. The truth always catches up, and the more you run from it, the harder it hits.
