We don't want to be here. So, easy as possible. >> You play county jail, right? You play county. I work for wall key. >> She suddenly became emotional and started crying as if trying to make herself seem sympathetic. She even began bringing up personal stories unrelated to the incident. >> My boyfriend just died. He died in Lake County jail. I know you didn't do it again, but I'm just trying to support myself. That's it. >> He died in Lake County. >> Yeah. >> When did this happen? >> The 31st. >> There's stuff under there, too, y'all. >> I wasn't even think I was going to pick up. I ain't going to lie. She put in money. >> Camera check on number 12. >> She showed no sign of shame and it clearly was not her first time committing an offense. She later admitted that she already had another case against her. >> He's not going to jail. Okay, calm down. >> What are you on parole for? >> I'm not on parole >> anymore. Okay. When is that? >> I don't know. >> Two years. Let's go over. Well, they saying you on par for >> I couldn't possibly say that. I didn't make it up. >> I maxed out, but I I've been out a whole year. Been free a whole year. >> Well, you better talk to your parole officer. >> I don't have no parole officer. >> That's what they telling me in my ear. >> Oh, we need to double check. >> I don't need to double check. I ain't on parole. >> Okay. I'm not going to jail to be on parole. I'm on parole. Is you cool? >> How How you going to tell me where you going? Cuz I'm not on parole. Y'all be killing me. Uh we giving her >> She already has a record with us. Five different events. >> She's already trespass. >> She has So trespass. >> Okay. >> We're pressing charges. So we need >> Okay. >> It's a local city or >> Okay. What's going on? All right. >> What? >> Wait, what's happening with us, >> man? >> She remained completely arrogant until the store informed her that Walmart was pressing charges and that she would be banned from the store. Her attitude immediately changed, but she still showed no sign of shame. >> You also have a breach of trespass. That's an arrest. And what is the point? Give you another trespass. That's what you're sitting at right now. stupid, man. Look, just I won't I won't I won't come back. Please, please, >> man. You probably told them that, but you already done it five times. So, how they know you're not lying to me? [laughter] >> Please, please. I won't come back. I promise. I can't go to jail. Please, my boyfriend just died there. Please, y'all. Please, please, please, [laughter] please, y'all. I won't I won't come back. >> I will not come back. And then any >> No, that's Oh, I' I've been going to court for that. >> Oh, it says July 17th, 201. >> I I just went I just went to jail and got and got out day before Christmas Eve >> because of this. >> Yeah. I will not come. Please I cannot go to jail. My boyfriend was coming up. Please tell someone. All of her pleas were useless at that point and changed nothing. Shortly afterward, officers proceeded to take her into custody. >> Ma'am, go ahead and stand up. >> You're plac [screaming] You're going to be placed under arrest for shoplifting. Go ahead, ma'am. >> Chill out. Chill out. Listen, stop. Get up with me. >> I wasn't. You came away. >> It is not that serious. Shut the is my favorite button. >> Give me your rest. You give me your rest right here. >> Okay. All right. >> All right. I'm a double lock so they don't close on you. Okay. >> 56. Can you start a CQ for that subject? I ran. >> You good? Let me search you real quick. Y. >> Actually, I'm going be right backyard. What's outside? Uh, no. Actually, we're walking out right now. I got to hold you nice. >> Okay. >> In the end, she was charged with felony retail theft, resisting arrest, and criminal trespassing. Her repeated thefts and trespassing violations finally caught up with her. Begging and emotional outbursts could not change the consequences once Walmart decided to press charges. Next, when the thief is the employee and the victim is the customer. On the 25th of March 2026, officers received a report from a victim whose wallet had gone missing at a bar. After [snorts] reviewing the CCTV footage, police identified two bar employees as suspects. The following day, one of them was summoned to the police station where clear evidence was found inside the bag she was carrying. >> What's going on? >> Got a story. >> Huh? >> There's something in my bag. >> There's something in your bag. Okay. What do you got? How'd that get there? Okay. Can >> you bring this bag to work with you every day? >> Well, I don't have my I don't have a car. >> And you had it yesterday? >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, where's license and everything else? >> I have no idea. >> Okay. >> I have no idea how much was. >> I'm not I'm not like that. I don't >> How come you didn't tell me that when I was at the bar? >> Cuz I was scared I was going to get stabbed by a biker. >> Well, that's why I waited until he left. Also, stealing that, you know, the patch member of the outlaws is probably not a good idea. >> I know. I know. I'm terrified. I'm terrified. I'm terrified. And I'm also I've been a punk 2 years. I've never done anything like this in my life. And I'm scared of [ __ ] And I don't have any idea. I >> Okay. >> I came here. I'm terrified. >> Okay. But you don't know what happened to her license or her credit cards or anything? >> No, I didn't even know what was in it. >> Gotcha. Meanwhile, the other officer was confirming the amount of cash inside the wallet, which would help determine the charges in the case. 100 200 300 400 500 600 700 800 900 I've been sick all my own in my pants not I probably lost my job and my friends and my whole life is going to change for the past 20 years cuz I made a split second decision and it was wrong. I didn't even touch it. >> The cash. When did you find it? >> Today. >> When today I woke up this morning and started putting stuff away in my bag. I saw that and I was like, I'm not putting anything away. I threw up and made my kids food and just not felt right all day. >> Okay. [clears throat] I don't know if it's I don't know if that's somebody used money or you know I >> allegedly it was money that they were trying to buy their kid a car. >> That's what she said. >> So >> 2022. >> Okay. >> Is that all that you know that was in the bag? >> Oh yeah. >> All right. So naturally, right? Because of the investigation you are going to be placed under. I'm not gonna do the whole cuffs thing. We're just gonna walk you back because I do have to talk to you some more and I'd be more than interested to see what you got to say. Right. Yeah. Just take your purse off and everything. >> Later that same day, another team of officers was dispatched to the second suspect's home. She immediately denied everything. >> I was smoking. Y >> I'm good. >> I remember you from yesterday. >> You what? Huh? >> I remember you from yesterday. >> Yeah. So, you know why I'm here then, huh? >> Yeah. But I don't have anything. I didn't take anything. >> You didn't take anything? >> I don't have anything. Okay. >> No, >> I have nothing. >> Okay. So, then what happened? >> I can't tell you what happened, but I don't have anything. >> Okay. >> I mean, you can check everything. I don't have anything. >> I don't know. I wasn't there when they were there, but I don't have anything. >> I have nothing. >> It's not in your car or anything like that. >> No, you can look. I have nothing. >> I have literally nothing. I have nothing anywhere. >> Okay. husband. Okay. >> So, then there's no camera footage that would show me otherwise. >> I have No, I didn't take anything. >> Okay. >> I don't have anything. >> Contrary to her denials, the CCTV told a different story from the moment Jennifer took the purse to Tiffany joining in with both women laughing about their score. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Although Jennifer was the one who found the wallet, Tiffany was the one who took more actions to carry out the plan to take everything from it. CCTV even captured her calling Jennifer into the bathroom to avoid the cameras. Jennifer was the one who stepped out first while Tiffany stayed behind with the task of handling the evidence. That was why Tiffany was still lying and denying everything because she believed she was not carrying any evidence. >> Oh, he told me about the cameras. Yeah, now I know. >> Well, I sure hope you know you work. >> Oh, yeah. That's what I'm saying. I know. We have tons of cameras everywhere. I wasn't even there when people were there. I don't have anything. Please check everywhere. Oh, look at my purse. My purse, too. I got that, too. Take my purse. >> Uh, we'll hold off for right now. >> Do you know what happened with the purse? >> I have nothing. Nope. I have no idea what happened with the purse. >> Okay. >> I know. It was pulled out of a garbage can. >> What time was that at? >> I have no idea. when they whenever they came back. >> Was that before or after we talked with you guys? >> Um, that was >> I didn't look >> I think she pulled it out her or the other girl pulled it out right before you guys got there. >> The other girl other bartender. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Um, the other girl pulled out. I'm not sure. It said she saw somebody pulling out of a garbage can. >> Okay. >> She then tried to shift all the blame onto her coworker, but what the CCTV showed was enough to tell the story. With the evidence in front of them, officers [clears throat] proceeded to arrest her. >> I don't know what happened after that. I don't have it. >> Gotcha. Do me a favor. Go ahead and turn around for me. >> You already know. >> I don't have anything, though. I don't have anything else. >> I sure hope you still don't have anything. >> I don't have anything. I don't have anything at all. >> You don't want to tell them where it's at, though? >> I I'm telling you right now, I don't have it. I don't have anything. I have nothing. We're not stupid enough. >> You're surprising we have 15. >> Can we just my kids see this, please? >> Well, it's just your husband is coming back out. >> I know, but I just don't want my kids to see. >> I won't. >> I don't have I don't have anything. >> All right, let's walk this way. >> I have nothing. >> I have nothing. >> Any landmines I should be aware of over here? I saw the one walking up. >> We're just going to go to the opposite side of the car. Okay. Jennifer and Tiffany were both charged with two counts of theft over $500, but less than $10,000. Denying the evidence and shifting blame did not change what the cameras showed. In the end, both suspects were held accountable for their actions. Next, this man would also miss his chance at leniency. >> Well, I just watched the video. You did? >> Sir, I didn't take no TV out of no sale. >> They're saying I'm trying to commit for about a $200 and something dollar. >> Well, that's just what how the charge fits. You didn't you didn't technically shop. >> On the 11th of March 2025, officers responded to a Walmart after receiving a call about a theft. The suspect, a man named Cliff, was accused of intentionally entering the store with an empty cart before taking a TV from the electronic section. But when officers approached him, he had a different story. >> Want a TV? >> Yeah, I'm right. >> What's the story with the TV? He say I He said I lift the TV up off the thing and put it on the car and say I try to come the return and try to return the TV. >> Okay. I don't know. We trying to figure out what exactly is going on. You have your ID or anything like that? >> No, my ID is with my wife at the bus stop. >> What's your name? My name is >> That's your full like your legal name on your ID. >> What's your middle name? >> What's your middle name? >> My middle name is not my last name. >> You have a middle name? >> No, sir. >> What's your date of birth? >> He claimed he was being falsely accused and insisted that he had not stolen anything. But when officers spoke with loss prevention, the employees had a very different story. >> All right, so let me show you what I what we see. He insists that he came in with that. Now, I still have to review to see when he came in. He said he didn't touch any TV, didn't take anything off the shelf. But if you review this footage, put it put up there and put this one. Put this over there. report. >> It was 1753 43. taking the turn here. >> So, the only thing is I've reviewed already like 40 minutes of footage. He told me only been here 20 minutes. So now I while I'm trying to go back to see when he came in, he comes knocking on the door and that's why I made the call. >> Based on loss prevention's account, it appeared that he had clearly planned the whole thing in advance, making his story even more suspicious. >> So you bought the TV somewhere else? >> Yeah, I bought the TV somewhere else and I came here to >> Where did you buy the TV from? >> I bought the TV at the other Walmart by >> I was close to here so I came here. >> I got you. I was just trying to figure out what's going on. >> Sir, if I want to steal, I would have walked out the door with a TV. >> I didn't think steal. >> No, look, he that's what he's saying. I would have walked out the door and you know what I'm saying? And and and and like I would I would have never stopped him and asking him questions, you know what I'm saying? Trying to get get me to return. >> Just trying to figure out what they get. I'm just trying to understand. Probably a misunderstanding or something, but >> hey, you're fine. You can hang out here. I know you so well. You didn't >> I'll kill it. I'll kill it. >> How long ago you bought the TV from? >> I bought the TV like a month ago. >> He said on camera. I'm taking the TV out the fence. >> He never looked the officer directly in the eye while giving his statement, suggesting he was hiding something. At [snorts] that point, the officers confronted him with what they had seen on the surveillance video. Watch his reaction. >> I came in with that TV. >> Well, they haven't found it yet. Any video of it, but they see you taking it away. >> You trying to exchange? >> Exchange the TV. Yes. >> But where's the other? >> Cuz there's video of you taking the TV from the back off into the >> I would have never came to customer service if I'm if I'm trying to take >> I'm just saying what I saw. I I stopped him there. >> No, look, sir. I stopped him >> and asked him, "Sir, can I how can I do >> you know what time exactly you got here? >> I got here around I don't have no watch. I got here around >> it's 7:26 right now." >> I got here around like 6:00. >> Got here around 6:00. Which Which entrance did you come in? >> The garden or the one right before? >> The one right before. >> Okay. >> Now, you say that you were exchanging the TV? >> Yes, sir. >> You have a receipt for the previous meeting? say I got [ __ ] for that TV there, but I had a long time. It was like a month ago. I had that TV in my store. >> Okay. >> I have the storage in labor. >> Uhhuh. >> I have I don't that TV here on the bus. >> Okay. And and walk right through there, ask the man cuz the man was standing right there in in the entrance. I was saying I walked all the way to the cuz I ain't never returning that. I went all the way to the um to the to the um electronics thinking I can return it there. So, were you returning it or exchanging it? >> I was returning. I'm trying to return it. But if they say I couldn't, I was trying to exchange. >> Okay. But if you're returning it, why didn't you go from here straight to customer service? >> Cuz I didn't know where I I I just went to where I bought it from. I bought it from electronics. So, I went to electronics. >> Even his explanation became hesitant and inconsistent, making his story seem even less credible. The officers [snorts] noticed the same problem and decided it was time to take action. Have you seen the 2025 Explorer? Like Ford Explorer? No. >> Well, you're going to come in with me. We're not going to We're not going to play this game. >> So, what game? What is you talking about? >> Before we make it to you in the video, you walk around these people's stove with no TV and walking out with a TV. That's what we're trying to >> Oh, I walked out with I didn't walk out with no TV. I had to see you before. >> I came in here. >> I didn't say you walked. I said, "You ready to walk out with a TV?" Really? >> No. >> That's why I asked you. Did you have possession of the TV the whole time? You said no. That's why I asked you that. >> I got my uh >> You got him coming in. Coming in with what? >> Nothing. >> Nothing. >> Come on, man. >> Once he was placed in the patrol car and taken into custody, the man finally began to show some regret. Growing increasingly anxious, he started admitting to what he had done. >> Say y'all paper and let me go home, man. >> You got to speak up a little bit louder. It's a little hard to hear. Trying to see if I can go back with my wife, man. >> You want someone to check on her? >> No, I was saying if I can go back with my wife, man. I ain't Y say y paperwork for what? I didn't haven't done nothing, man. >> No, that's what I was trying to explain. You didn't per say? >> I didn't do nothing. >> Yeah, but you didn't come in with the the TV and you're trying >> Okay. I didn't I didn't come in with no TV, sir. But I haven't done nothing. I haven't stole nothing from Walmart. I haven't took nothing from Walmart. That's why I was trying to give you the option. But you trying to return something that it's not yours, that is a scheme to defraud. There's not much I can do with that. And I'm I It's not my >> So they saying I committing fraud over a $200 and something dollar TV. >> What's that? >> They saying I'm trying to commit fraud by a 200 and something TV. >> Well, that's just what how the charge fits. You didn't you didn't technically shoplift. You were trying to >> get a TV that wasn't yours and try to exchange it out for money. >> Yeah. For some food. >> What's that? >> I was trying to get a Walmart car to get some food for me and my wife. >> Yeah, but why didn't you? >> That's the honest truth. >> Yeah, but why didn't you just say it to me? I was trying to give you an out. I would have got you something. Would have helped you out. Now we had to do this. >> Well, sir, I didn't Ain't nobody when I was asking people that they was they was threatened to call the police on me for for um for um panhandling. Cliff was charged with scheme to defraud. Being desperate for food did not justify lying and attempting to return stolen merchandise for a gift card. His dishonesty also destroyed the officer's willingness to help him and turned a possible informal resolution into criminal charges. Next, this woman had even more to regret about her actions. >> 15. >> They don't know you. They don't trust you. this forces you to pay him back at some point. >> On the 21st of June 2024, police received a report from an Airbnb guest who said $900 had been stolen from her purse. After speaking with the victim, officers immediately suspected another guest staying at the property. When they arrived at the scene, they had surveillance footage supporting that suspicion. >> So, just just so you're aware, too, I obviously she wants the money back. So, you mentioned she's still on the property or you don't know what? >> She is in the property. Okay. >> Yes. >> Apartment apartment. Miss apartment. >> She's in apartment 306. >> 306. Okay. >> Thank you. >> Just in case you need to. >> That's a picture of her. Okay. >> What do you want to see? The the day that she >> the girl when she was taking the >> Yes. You can show me that video and then I'll I'll give you an email to send it to me as well. Sure. Let me see. >> Okay, that's perfect. >> After receiving information confirming the suspect's identity, the officers approached the victim to explain the situation to her. >> So, as we mentioned, your name is Catherine. Um, we did see the unknown black female on video taking your purse. at 1:20 a.m. she left and then she returned it at 1:34 a.m. on the 20th of this month. Um, you mentioned that you were missing $900 when she when it was returned somewhere in between that time. Um, did you want to prosecute this female if you get your money back? If she returns the money, the full amount of the money, she won't face any charges. >> Okay. So, if you receive the $900, no charges. If you do not receive that, you want to press charges. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, as I mentioned, I'm Officer Forji. If you have any questions for me at this point in time, I have your information. If I find anything, I will give you guys a call. Um, we'll continue to search. She's unidentified at this point in time. We have limited information on her, but I'll do a supplement to that case number and if anything, I'll call you guys if I do find it. >> The next day, after confirming that the suspect was inside apartment 306, officers approached her while she had no idea what was about to happen to her. >> Hi, Hi. How are you? Good. Hi. Hi. So, um, can I talk for a minute? Sure. Can I come in? 9743 to 1400. Where are you from? I'm from Georgia. to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm just here. >> As the woman gradually realized what was happening, she began voluntarily explaining her circumstances as soon as officers placed her inside the patrol car. >> I don't have anywhere to go. I don't have a place to live. Like I my apartment. I was supposed to move in with a friend of mine. It didn't work out. So, I've been staying like at Airbnbs by the day. >> How do you afford this one? >> It's $100 a night. Okay. So, >> So, you So, this one you were able to afford? >> Yeah, it's 100 for the week. It's like $800 900. >> Okay. >> So, you stayed for one night, right? >> Well, you paid for one night originally. >> Yes. >> Okay. And when did you check in? >> Yesterday. >> Okay. But I think that I've been here um a little before that and so um every day it's been really slow. >> What do you do for work? >> Okay. My mom and stuff like that and it's been really slow and I don't have anyone helping me right now. >> Do you think she was trying to make herself seem sympathetic so the officers would feel sorry for her? Because while explaining her situation, she began admitting what she had done. when um I came in um I saw the bag and then I thought about it. Um I went up and then I said, "Okay, maybe I should get it and hold it till the morning." But then um I got it. I went upstairs and I I didn't know who I would give it to. I don't know if there's an office or anything. So >> normally like I wouldn't to >> see. So after you you picked it up from downstairs, you brought it up. Okay. >> Yeah. No. So, I brought it up and it had some money in it. It had a lot of money in it, right? >> A lot. >> It had It had a good amount of money in it. >> Do you know the >> Yeah, I do. >> Okay. So, it cost $1,000. So, >> So, when I went upstairs, you gave me some money that was in the room. That's >> not even 200. >> I I didn't grab all of it. Sorry. But um >> did you spend any of the money that you took? >> Yeah, I spent any of it. So, but I I was actually before you got here, I was going to go to the bank and I was going to go try to extend the room one more day. So, I was actually >> Do you have Okay. So, the amount of money that you took out of that bag, are you able to >> Are you able to return all the money? >> I I can return the money. Well, the money that you have, but do you have all the money that was taken? Are you able to give them back 100% of the money that you was taken? >> Right now, you're saying just >> or is it just the money that you gave me? >> No, you gave me more is what I'm saying. I just I forgot. >> Okay. So, the money that you gave me, there's more upstairs. >> Yeah, I didn't grab all of it. I didn't I didn't grab all of it. Like I said, I was just getting up to go to the bank. At this point, officers began recovering the victim's money while the suspect waited inside the patrol car. As the wait continued, the pressure became too much for the woman and she began to cry. >> Ethan right now. It's slow right now, but as I was today, >> really it's slow right now. That place >> apparently look apparently it's off season. But >> yeah, I worked today and I said I could get back now. >> I gave I spoke to them. I gave I really we really spoke to them too. They don't want their >> Listen, this is just >> this sucks. >> But you listen, honestly, >> you should have done it and you know that. >> You're right. I know >> everyone hits the wall every now and then where you're just like, what do I do in this situation? >> You're right. >> But there's ways to fix it and this isn't one of them, obviously. >> Right. But I was discussing it with them pretty thoroughly about the options. But they're international travelers. They >> Yeah. And they don't know you. They don't trust you. >> This forces your pay back at some point. All right. >> I know you. >> I promise. I will. >> Yeah. I'm sure. >> Listen, when it comes to your dog, your dog will be taken care of. All right. >> Animal Care and Control comes to get your dog. >> They're not They're not taking your dog away. taking your dog for you. >> We're dog people 100%. Believe us, we're not. >> I've got dogs. I've got cats. >> I I wouldn't call animal care and control if it was something different. >> In the end, Catherine was charged with grand theft. Desperation did not excuse taking someone else's money, and her own admissions only strengthened the case against her. Next, this mother was forced to tell the truth in the face of overwhelming evidence. >> Perfect. Did you like So, these items are here, all purchases that you made or >> Yeah, like the Well, that was expired. That's like the >> Do you have the receipt for that? Did you pay for any of those items or did you just walk out with them? >> Yes, I did not. I'm sorry. >> You didn't pay for them? >> No. >> On the 11th of January, 2025, officers were dispatched to a residence regarding a suspect wanted in connection with a target theft who had fled the scene. Of course, successfully getting away did not mean the suspect would easily admit the truth. The officers were prepared for that. Here's what happened. >> Property damage. Yeah, like a little >> Hi. Hi there. Yeah, just really quick question. So, you said that you did visit Target today, correct? >> Yeah, I'm return. >> Is that picture you? >> Yes. >> Yes. Okay. Um, so >> I was going to make some returns. >> Okay, perfect. Did you like So, these items are here, all purchases that you made or >> Yeah, like the Well, that was expired. That's like the >> Do you have the receipt for that? >> I do. Yeah. Did you want to throw it away? I can go find it. I'm so sorry. >> Okay. So, um, >> yeah, I had gone in to make returns, but there was like a really long line. >> Okay, >> so I just decided to come back later. >> Gotcha. Okay. And then this is your vehicle as well? >> That's me. Yes. >> Okay, perfect. And that's what you drove over there? >> Yes. >> Okay, awesome. So, really quickly, here's the discrepancies. We've we got a call from Target. >> Oh, sure. Okay. >> Um, video shows I've I've seen the video. They show me >> taking items, not passing a register at all, not going up to the front at all to pay for any of those items. >> Oh. >> And you walked in. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And I can tell by your reaction right now that you kind of >> Well, I went in. I had to go to the bathroom really bad. I was going to go do the return, but then I, you know, I went shopping. I grabbed a couple pouches. When I came back, I'd go to the bathroom. >> She surely did not expect the officer to bring surveillance footage to confront her right at her home. But she stubbornly kept changing her story to avoid facing the truth. >> So, where did all these items come from that were in that in that cart? >> Well, I was getting returned. Like those diapers, they don't fit my baby anymore. Okay. But the thing is is that when you walked in, you didn't have anything. >> There were you you you walked in with nothing. >> Oh dear. Okay. I had a cart. >> I mean, I know that you have the cart, but when the video shows you walking into Target, you have nothing. You grab a cart, you grab a tote, and you fill up that tote with a bunch of items. >> Reality finally hits home. Our subject quickly realizes that Target isn't a charity, and her lucky streak has officially reached its expiration date. >> Now, where is that tote with a bunch of items? I do have the tote. >> Okay. Inside. Yes. >> Okay. So, >> be honest with me. >> Yeah. >> Did you pay for any of those items or did you just walk out with them? >> Be honest. I did not. I'm sorry. >> You didn't pay for them? >> No. >> Okay. >> I got really bad stomach issues and I just had to go. I kind of pooped my pants. >> So, did were we planning on returning back at all? Were we planning on >> I absolutely can and will. >> She was eventually forced to admit the truth under the officer's pressure and they then explained what she would have to face. Hi. So, here's the thing though. What we have is what's done is done already. I appreciate you being honest with me. I know that it took, you know, all around that. But Target does want to pursue criminal complaints. Okay. So, with that being said, um can we get maybe get some a jacket on or, you know, some shoes on cuz you're going to have to come with us. Okay. >> Okay. >> My husband. >> Okay. Right. >> Jacket. Okay. >> Do I have to go? >> Yes, you're going to have to come with us. Okay. >> I like have to stay there. So, not going to have to stay, but it's going to be like I'm going to cite you so with a citation. Okay. And then you'll be able to come back home. So, we can have your husband pack up the kids and come get you from the station. Okay. >> Okay. Um but obviously, like I said, Target wants to pursue complaints and if we can get that, >> uh that's an arrest. Okay. >> So, you're being you're being placed under arrest. Okay. So, that's just so you know, like you're going to come with that with us. I you've been pretty open and honest with me, which I appreciate. Um >> will that show up with like my work? Um, I mean, I don't know what you do for work, but your your work on that. Okay. Um, so give me a second. Let me, do you want to maybe try to talk with >> Yeah, I'll go. >> But the drama didn't stop there. Her husband then showed up to help her get a jacket and shoes, and he even tried to change the situation, suggesting that he may have already known about his wife's actions. >> Uh, [snorts] that's uh, >> that's a call I would have to make over there. Okay. >> Okay. >> I pay for it right now. How much? >> So, here's the unfortunate thing is regardless of what it is, her target wants to pursue some stuff. So, um so she's going to be taken back to the station. Okay. Um >> sorry. Okay. >> No. >> Um so if you want to come meet us at the station, shouldn't take us very long. You can uh pick her up in the back. Um but she's not staying. Okay. >> We do need the product back. >> Yep. So yeah, if we want to >> help me get >> She has a tote. We can come in. >> Sir, do you mind if I step in with you? >> Yeah. >> I appreciate it. >> Oh, I'm sorry. Why not bring my purse? I just bought my >> I saw her open it. So >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Are you sure that you want to bring all this? Like I said, like you're going to be in and out and you can bring your phone. You can bring your phone. >> Phone and ID. That's really all you need right now. >> Okay. >> And then we'll just get this back to your husband. Okay. >> Okay. >> And then hold on one second. I'm going to search you the rest of your pockets. You just got some gloves in there. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I'll get the Oh, I just saw your your jacket. You didn't have anything else on you, did you? >> No. >> I'm going to put this in your your jacket pocket. Okay. >> With her children standing at the door, the officers escorted her out of their sight before handcuffing her and preparing to take her to the station. >> Just go ahead and face the car for me. Okay. >> Just go ahead and put your hand behind your back. I'm going to have you take these thumbs off there. Okay. Take one step back. >> Perfect. Going have to take a seat. Okay. >> Okay. All right. We should be very far. So, just give us a minute. Okay. Thank you. >> Is it? Thank you. >> We're on route back to the station. >> Everything over. >> Yep. So, like I said, we're going to go in um we're going to get you a court date, um some information, get a fingerprint and photograph, and then you should be able to go. Usually isn't uh too long of a process. Okay. >> That's up to the judge. Once we do our stuff, that's up to them as far as uh what goes on. Like I said, that's all that is all that is all pending the judge. They don't even make these things detainable anymore. Um, with the new safety act, like I said, like for the amount that you have, a lot of the times they would, you know, allow us to take back to the adult the adult detention facility. Um, >> in the end, she was cited for retail theft and given a court date of January 31 in Will County. Honesty does not erase the consequences of theft. Even after admitting what she had done, she still had to face the legal consequences once Target decided to pursue the case. Next, the cameras at this store also caught employees stealing from their own workplace. >> There's her hand or her pocket right now. So, it's in her pocket right now, but then she'll remove it. >> Okay. So, uh, you stole yesterday's $100 bill. >> I did not speak. >> On the 6th of July, 2022, officers received a report from a gas station about a theft that had occurred there. Surprisingly, the suspect was none other than the store's cashier. When officers arrived at the scene, the store manager gave them a brief account of what had happened. >> And is that employee fired now? >> No, she's supposed to come in at 11. >> Um, what's her name? Um, but her real name is um Ozari. >> This was yesterday. >> Yes. >> About what time? >> It happened around 9:57 p.m. >> $200 bills. >> $200 bills. >> She only takes a hundred, but she's trying to hide it. So, there's $200 bills there and a $2 bill. I hope you can see it. >> There's two. >> Where does she hide it at? >> She's um got it in her either her hand or her pocket right now. So, it's in her pocket right now, but then she'll remove it and then she'll put a $100 bill. So, it's in her hand right now. She'll put a $100 bill in her apron pocket up here and only take $100 and $102 back out and do a save profit. So, she took a $100. >> Yeah. >> So, but she took 202 out originally. >> So, I don't know if you just seen it, but she just pocketed it right there. >> Yeah. >> So, there's $100 bills going into the pocket. >> Yeah. >> Only $102 coming back out and she had 202 originally. >> And then she does call [clears throat] a safe drop for $240, but we never get that $100 bill back. >> Gotcha. >> Based on the evidence provided by the store, the officers formed their assessment of the case and determined how to proceed. I I actually just talked to the lieutenant over property crimes because I was asking him and he was saying if it was happening over a certain amount of time, you could probably hold off on the arrest and wait until um wait until you have everything taken care of like make sure we have it all on there. But if there's something that's recent like last night he was saying and cuz my thing was I was going to go ahead and arrest her if y'all wanted to press charges. So, I would go if if she showed up, but I assume that if she sees me out here, she she might not. She wouldn't. There's a couple a little bit of history with her. And I notic every now and then if they're a little if they feel guilty like the store and she should be here with >> And then uh what I was going to do is just going to go down the street a little bit and see if she'll she'll get here. And then once she's here, we can >> I can arrest her. >> Silver car. >> Silver car. Yeah, I have I have her in the I think I It's not the same hair, her driver's license photo, but >> she got her hair off her hair. >> And then so it was but $100 or $22 was taken out of the register and then $100 put in her pocket >> and then she put the $102 back for that drop, right? >> Okay. And then um that's all I need for that. And then if she does come back, I would I said I was just going to go over the street, right? Start start working on the report. And then if she comes back, just give us a call and say she's here. have an officer send out because they're going to send two of us for that. >> Next, the manager carefully reviewed the surveillance footage with the officers, showing them how she concealed the money and helping determine the exact value of the theft. >> Just let me know when you're ready. >> You're ready. Oh, sorry. >> Oh, you're fine. So that's when she takes $200 bills. >> $200 bills and a $2 bill. >> Okay. So they're in the same far left drawer. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> And then she What What is that that she puts under it? Is that the $100 bill? >> Yep. So there's 100 100 and then $2 bill on top. And then she is folding it up. >> What did she hide behind the phone? that I don't know >> if you don't mind backing up there because I looks like it was three bills that she had and then one was behind her phone. >> But y'all are $100 short instead. >> I see what you're saying. Yeah, we're actually $13 short. >> She put a $100 bill behind her phone is what it looks like cuz I think it's that top one here. >> Yeah. Well, it looked like she was just putting it over there. I don't know why, but that put it looked like Oh, no. Okay. It looked like she put it behind her phone, but she didn't. While reviewing the surveillance footage, the officers received word that the suspect had arrived at the store. Before she could even clock in for her shift, the officer immediately arrested her. >> Do y'all want a bar as well? >> Okay. >> Can you put your phone down for a second for me? >> Okay. So, uh, you stole yesterday $100 bill. >> I did not steal. >> And they want to report it. So right now you are being arrested for that. >> Can I call 784? >> You'd be able to at the jail. >> I did not steal. Oh my god. I don't even >> Hey, I'm being arrested. >> Okay. Is that all the stuff you need? Is it just this bag? >> Okay. And this your keys? This all your stuff? >> This is this yours or this? >> No, that's mine. >> Okay. >> All right. I'm going to get this. >> No, not right now. Run this way. >> As part of the procedure, the officer had to confirm whether the employee would be fired. If so, the manager would need to formally inform her. The officers explained this process to the store management. >> Um, I was going to see if she'll talk to me about it cuz she's saying she didn't do it and then I told her she's on video and she said that she didn't want to talk to me. Um, do you want to fire her? I guess cuz this has happened before and people aren't told they're fired so they come back to work after they're barred. >> Yep. >> So just you have to let her know that she is fired and then however long do you'all want to bar? >> Oh I don't know how long I need her for. >> Um we go usually up to two years but I've seen a couple weeks but >> I go two years. >> Two years. Okay. If you want Have you ever bred anybody before? >> I have not. >> Okay. So literally all you have to say is you're barred for two years and that's literally it. So, if you want to let her know that she's fired as well, you can say, "Hey, you're fired." Or, you know, whatever y'all say for that. And just at the end say, "You're barred for two years." >> Gotcha. >> What's up, Miss McCcl? Tell you something. >> So, you are terminated and you will be barred from our tour. >> Um. Mhm. Gotcha. Thank you. >> Yeah. Appreciate you coming out, showing off your new bike. text uh headline. >> Oh yeah, I forgot about that. >> Later at the police station, the officers also found cash among her belongings suspected to be part of the $100 she had stolen and already spent some of >> Look for him. >> Um this is $84 should be. Should just be 84 84 90 20 40 60 80 two >> there's more than that. >> Yeah, this was a different pile. So that's 40 bucks. 20 40 60 80 81 82 83 84 I don't see too much change in there. I don't know if that's going to be 90 cents worth of change. This was >> um depending on what previous charges are or if you've been convicted of anything um you probably will be O bond. It'll still take a couple hours just cuz they got to fingerprint you and stuff. Um, but you'll be out of those thankfully cuz those are I know those are uncomfortable. >> Got to be out of my house by Thursday. >> By Thursday? You should be by out by Thursday. >> You ever done something so stupid? >> I've been on probation before before I did this. [sighs] >> Like I can't either. >> In the end, she was charged with theft by taking. This case shows that stealing from your own workplace can quickly lead to arrest when surveillance footage and other evidence expose the truth. Even after spending part of the stolen money, she was still held accountable for her actions. Next, let's shift away from the shoplifterss and look at this woman who showed no shame in exposing herself. >> God, you did that to me? Oh my god, you did that to me? Oh my god. [screaming] Are you >> On the 13th of November 2022, police were dispatched to a parking lot after receiving a report of a woman who was intoxicated and showing unusual behavior. Upon immediately arriving at the scene, from all of her actions, it was easy to see that the allegation was true. >> Right there, >> that white car? >> Yep. >> Okay. You're not planning on trying to get back into that car to drive home, I assume, right? >> No. >> Okay. Then what are you out here wanding towards your car in the park, you know, in the parking lot? >> Trying to record. >> Record what? >> What's going on? My forms in the car. My forms in the car right here. Um, I'm record that way. That way, that way >> six way. >> Okay. Ma'am, do you have somebody that can call to pick you up or are you going to be able to Uber? >> No, I don't. No. >> Right there. >> I don't think that'd be very recommended. H. No, I'm going to sit there until it's recommended. >> Okay. Do you live close to here? >> Yes. >> Where's that? >> Yep. >> That's not very close. >> Yeah, it's close. >> Yep. >> You married? Do you have a boyfriend, husband? >> It has none to me for I I know all that >> from I'm an HR manager. I know all that [ __ ] >> Ma'am. >> Yes. Yes. >> Do you have somebody that you can call to pick you up? >> No. >> Nobody. You don't know anybody that can come pick you up? >> No. >> You have any friends in HR that can come help you out? >> Um, per my attorney, that's not going to be answered. >> Your attorney for what? >> My attorney. Excuse me. You know what that means? >> Due to her intoxicated state, the officers prevented her from getting into the vehicle and leaving. Meanwhile, one officer approached while a nearby witness was also engaged to gather more information about the situation. >> She was out there trying to get into her car, which would have been bad. You work here? >> She Yeah. >> Okay. >> She um >> I told her, "I'll give you a ride. I'll call an Uber. I'll call a taxi." She She just was yelling inside, screaming at people. Then she went behind the bar >> and I It's the first time I saw her. I I really don't want to no trespass her or get her locked up, but I don't know. I I asked her if she had a car and she said she never even answered. >> She does over there. She thought it was another car. She was trying to walk to it, but I grabbed her keys from her real fast. >> Okay, that's cool. >> But >> yeah, she definitely >> Yeah, she's trying to >> So, I'm trying to prevent that here. >> Returning to the woman, she completely refused to cooperate with the officers. She insisted that she was still capable of driving herself, which only made the situation more complicated. >> Okay, Nancy. So, here's the deal. So, clearly you can't drive. You were out here trying to find your car to try to drive away right there because she he said he can't >> themselves. >> Anyways, Nancy, so you have one. >> He's so stupid. >> You have two options, Nancy. All right. We can march him to you and take you to the jail and you can go sit in a drunk [laughter] take for a few hours so you sober up. >> Or if you want to get on your phone and call a friend to come pick you up, we can do that. >> Oh my god. If you want to call a cab, we can do that. >> Oh, really? >> I'm not going to sit here and waste my time talking to you forever. >> Oh, okay. >> And so, you need to make this decision very quickly. >> No, you can do that. You can go ahead and do that. >> Okay. So, do you want to go to jail and sit in a drunk tank? >> Really? >> I'm I'm asking you. Is that what you want to do? >> No, I don't. >> Okay, then we can call a cab or we can call a friend to come pick you up. But I'm not going to leave here with your keys or with >> you're not going to leave my keys with a >> I'm not going to leave. cuz you're >> shut the up, Nancy. >> Really? >> Shut up. Okay. >> I'm not going to sit here and listen to this. I'm giving you a couple options. I'm not going to leave you with your keys for you to drive drunk and go crash into somebody so you can call a cab or you can call a friend to come pick you up. I'm not going to let you sit here and yell in my face. Nancy, >> are you going to call a friend or you going to call a cab? >> Are you going to call a friend or you going to call a cab? Nancy, >> 32. Charlie, >> can you can I can Can I Can I >> No, you're not talking my phone. The presence of the police was deliberately ignored by her and the situation became increasingly tense as she even began making defiant remarks toward the officers. >> You're not going to call a friend. >> Go what you want to do. >> Okay. Then you're just going to go to jail and sit in a drunk tank. >> That Joel go to Jen go take and it could go all the way Flores was paint. What? Oh my god, you did that. Oh my god, you did that to me. Oh my god, you >> If you don't know, she took off her own clothing in an attempt to stage herself as a victim and falsely accuse the officers of misconduct. This is exactly why body cameras are so important. And after that, the situation became extremely chaotic. >> Did that to me? Oh my god, you did that to me. >> Oh my god, you shut >> pull [screaming] your pants. Oh my god. >> Kidding me, bro. >> Pull your pants up. What are you? >> Shut. Why would you do that? Why would you do that? >> Pull your pants up. >> Why would you [ __ ] do that? 2038. >> Stop it. >> Why would you do that? Can you >> No, Nancy. >> Yes. President. >> The woman showed no shame, doing everything she could to make things difficult for the officers. However, she did not realize that her own actions ended up exposing her body for even longer. [snorts] >> Nationality for me, please >> just scout >> just everything. >> My [screaming] life. You have epic scalp my life in the life of my >> what? You have a my li to I just went to B and >> yeah go. You go. You go cuz you know that you are >> No. >> Have a seat. >> Yes. You >> just beat me with that. >> You slip. >> Oh no, I didn't slip for that. >> Get up. >> I did not stop with that. >> You hear me? >> You hear me with this? >> That's what they did. That's what they said. That's what they did. [screaming] That's what they did. Why are you sweating? [screaming] >> Even inside the patrol car, she still did not stop. She invoked her status as a citizen as a justification. But everything only further demonstrated that she was completely unstable. >> Because you know why? Because without the American Indian me because of us, you you are nothing. You stole everything and we belong. You believe everything. You believe it. You can believe everything that you mean. You can even do a genetics test. What that means? That means what you're raised and what you're American raised and you're American [music] raised and you're English raised with. Guess what? You are us. You are us. You don't have to have stimulation that they gave you what we are us. You are us. That's what's so up. We are all of us. We are American Indians. We are Africanameans. We are everything that you don't want to be. >> The woman was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and false accusation against law enforcement officers. This case shows that intoxication combined with refusal to cooperate can quickly escalate a situation. Making false claims or attempting to shift blame in a chaotic state only worsens legal consequences and leads to more serious charges. >> It's not a basket. [music] >> You just didn't have a basket. >> Yeah, I paid for it. >> No childlifting. >> That's what I'm saying. like this. Oh, it's really when this is what I'm saying. >> On the 19th of November 2024, officers made contact with a woman inside a Kohl's store after she was suspected of concealing over $600 worth of merchandise. Strangely, she admitted to doing so, but immediately tried to justify her actions. >> Hey, miss. >> Hi, Officer Shins. >> Hi. >> I camera recording. All right. Okay. >> All right. So, we got a report. >> Huh? >> We got a report here that you're concealing merchandise. You didn't? >> Yes. >> Okay. But I'm paying for it. >> I just didn't have a basket. >> You just didn't have a basket? >> Yeah, but I'm paying for it. >> And I didn't It's not technically stealing it, but I didn't leave out the store. >> I didn't leave out the store, but I I dropped everything that I had. >> He's also got stuff that's mine also. >> Okay. >> So, right now, this is mine. >> Just take a breath. >> Okay. So, this is mine. But here I was thinking just keep your hand out of your back until I'm not about to get locked up. That's not happening. >> No one said anything about locked up. >> I know, but I didn't >> I'm just investigating at this point. It's fine. >> Okay. But I didn't even leave out this you guys store. That's what I'm saying. I didn't even leave out your guys store and I'm paying for some stuff as well. >> I can't help you at the office. >> So, let me give you y'all stuff. >> Okay. Like I said, just just relax. You don't need to pull anything out of your bag >> cuz I also came in here si with some stuff. I still got some in in the in my car as well. That's what I'm saying. >> Although she insisted that her actions were unintentional, her anxious and fearful demeanor suggested otherwise. Even so, she continued trying to remain calm as she returned the merchandise. >> I'm sorry. What's your name? >> Pencil. >> What's that? >> Pencil. >> I'm sorry. What? >> Pil >> like this? >> Okay. >> No, I don't want to buy nothing. But I'm going to show you I'm going show you of me home with the stuff. >> Okay. Let's take a breath. >> I was going to do you have do you have an ID on you right now? >> Yes, but I was going to um >> Okay, I just I just need your ID swap. >> I was going to exchange it. >> Exchange it. >> Okay. Do you have ID on you? >> Yes, I do. >> Can I just see it? >> I was going to exchange it. Mom, my aunt's on the phone as well. >> I was going to exchange it. >> I'm about to go to [ __ ] jail for this [ __ ] Hell no. >> I got that was it? Yeah. Can you just Can you just give me the whole milk? [music] >> With or without trying to as much as possible. So, without 171 121 171 [music] 121 >> 121. >> Based on her reaction, it was clear she was no stranger to dealing with law enforcement, and the officers quickly began to suspect the same. >> Have you ever been arrested before? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> I'm asking I just want to know I got a P like this. Not going to be food. This is my bar. I really don't feel good right now. Let's wait for this. Let's see. Um Hey, where's the nearest restaurant? >> I don't want to I don't want nothing. >> Okay. Well, unfortunately, right now, you're not free to leave cuz you're still being detained investigate. >> So, you know, I'm giving you the opportunity to use if you need to, but you do not want to. Okay. Okay. So, I'm just going to get the uh camera to your back. >> The officers then handcuffed the woman and escorted her to the patrol car. Shortly afterward, they discovered she had an outstanding warrant for a separate shoplifting case and confronted her about it. Do you know of any warrant in Ramsey? Do you know what this is about at all? Cuz I honestly don't know. >> I think it's [ __ ] shoplifting. Old >> shoplifting. Old shoplifting. >> That's what I'm saying. Like it's Oh, it's really when this is I'm saying it can't Oh, >> if you keep missing your court date and keep missing your court date. >> I never got a letter for the court date. >> So, look, once uh once we get back to headquarters, we just need to process you. We got to take some uh some photographs and some prints and then we just paper. And then once I'm going to get the warrant information, I'll give it to you. Okay. So you you understand what's going on. >> So based on you want the fiddle to warrant. >> Yeah. >> So I'm going to put the warrant. >> Mhm. >> So >> So look, like I said, we're we're trying to be really cooper like we're we're doing our best to make this as as simple and smooth as possible. >> And I get that. So I'm going to court for what's >> I'm going to court for the warrant. >> Yes. And then you'll get a separate court date for the shoplifting court today. Okay. >> What? Yeah. So, technically you did conceal three items. Okay. Those three perfumes. >> I sold the What the What the What are you talking about? They got the perfumes. >> What are you talking about? >> I understand. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and arrested on an outstanding warrant for a separate shoplifting case. A guilty conscience often leads people to make excuses instead of accepting responsibility. [music] Taking accountability for mistakes is always a better path than trying to justify dishonest [music] actions. >> Put it down. Stop. Put it down. >> Put it down. Stop. >> Please. I just want to have breakfast. Put it down. >> We're going to get you breakfast. >> I don't want to go back. Please. I just want to play. >> On the 5th of May 2024, officers responded to a hotel after receiving a report of a woman causing [music] a disturbance and refusing to leave. Her behavior didn't stop there. It became even more chaotic when police [music] arrived at the scene. >> Put it down. >> Put it down. >> What are you doing? >> Stop. >> Okay. So you guys have the same one thing. >> I had a cousin and my cousin. >> I didn't do nothing extra. That's fine. All I asked was to do was my get my breakfast to my cousin. >> What' you do? You piss? >> Yeah, >> that's great. All over me. That's cool. >> I'm sorry. I didn't intentionally do anything. I would I just >> Let's go. >> Okay. >> We're walking. I'm not I'm relieved. I don't have no attention or anything extra. My cousin had >> No, I'm telling you. I'm telling you. My cousin >> I don't want to hear what you're saying. You're just pissed all over me. What are you doing? >> The woman displayed uncontrollable behavior, suggesting that she was not mentally or emotionally stable. She was then escorted outside, but her resistance continued, making the situation even more difficult. >> I'm telling y'all, >> you're going to jail. You're done. I I don't want to have no problem. >> Steph right here. You're stealing. >> What did I feel? >> Uh that >> I didn't know. >> Oh, yeah. Well, you're going to [ __ ] Christian. No, I I'm >> Stop moving. >> Okay. >> Stop resisting. >> Stop moving. Release this. Stop. >> I'm I'm not having no I'm not I'm not pulling anything. I I have my hands open fully. I'm telling y'all, I will release 710 room. But I would in my closing room is unacceptable. I will leave one of you. Please. >> No, you're stealing. >> I don't have no problem. I'm telling you. >> Pissed all over both of us. >> It wasn't intentionally. It was not. >> What are you doing? >> It was not intentionally. I'm going to let you know off bat. My hand My room had My cousin had a room in three. >> She does not have that room with me. Okay, I will leave. I will leave. >> I got hurt. >> No, listen. My hands are free. I'm not trying to put anything on there. I'll leave. the urinate on 710 and I so we need to go get cleaned up. >> Okay. Okay. If I cannot I will leave. I will leave. I have no problem. I have no problem. >> You are going to jail. Okay. >> Okay. I understand. All I want to say is that >> what is your name? >> I'm trying to talk to you. I want >> y'all in my hands. Free will. Free will. Y'all have my hands. I Y'all have my hands. I'm I'm willing to talk to y'all. Please do. Please. She still appeared completely coherent as she pleaded with the officers, but during the search, they found something else. Could that have been the answer to the erratic behavior she had shown earlier? >> What did I throw [ __ ] at her? >> I didn't hit anything with her. >> You're throwing [ __ ] You're going to go to jail for battery. >> I didn't hit >> I'm done with you. Stop talking. >> I didn't hit her with anything. >> You got any needles on you? Where they at? >> Where are the needles? >> Don't worry. >> Where are the needles? >> I have no needles. I have no needles. Look at my freaking leg. >> Okay. >> What the heck is wrong with you? >> I apologize because I don't like jail. Okay. >> Well, you're going. >> Stop pulling. Just get up against I'm not pulling at all. >> I'm not weed. Got weed dropping on the floor. Got weed out of your pocket. >> I have no I have no weed. >> No. >> And if that is No, that's my friends. My friends put that in there. >> Oh, jacket. >> Yeah. Before I put the jeans and I I have no honest telling the truth to you because this this is what I have. I have no problem telling the truth to you. I have no problem telling the truth to you, my friend. My friend lives down the street. I have no problem telling the truth to you. >> I'm going to jail still, right? >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. I have no problem telling the truth. I am 21 years old. I am old enough and >> to know not to piss on people. >> I didn't intentionally do so. >> Go for it. >> I didn't I did not intentionally do so. >> Okay. I did not intentionally do so. I noticed do anything or anything. >> The suspect listened to the officer's explanation and it seemed as though she was finally going to cooperate, but that wasn't the case. Even getting into the patrol car turned into another delay. And what stood out the most was her innocent act. It's okay. I just want to talk to y'all. Can y'all please talk to me? >> Can you just sit down in the car? >> Why are you so mad at me? I >> Because you peed on us. >> I did not intentionally sit down. It was intentionally sit down. >> I didn't intentionally pee on you. I I It was nothing intentional. >> I'm going to go to the other side. >> It was nothing intentional. Please hear me when I say it was nothing intentional. Nothing intentional. >> Can I please talk to me? >> No. >> Okay. So, did did she batter you at all? What did she do? >> She she just came in. didn't. >> Shortly afterward, one of the officers returned to the hotel to gather additional statements from the staff about what had happened. >> I said, "No, we don't have cameras." She said, "No, you do. You got cameras. I'm trying to make you make sure that I hit you before I leave out of here." So, she had her place. She come over here. She's still talking. She got her phone in my face. I pushed her hand. I said, "You in my I don't mind you filming, but you in my personal space. That's too close." So, she go over here. a a a guy trying to talk to her. I tell her, "Just go ahead. You got got your breakfast. Just leave." She drops the plate. She had a candle from over there. She breaks it. All the stuff fly over there. >> Okay. Um, did she hit you with anything like that? >> No, she did. >> Okay. And how long has she been here? >> I can see her come in in the morning right before breakfast. She came in, she put, you see how dirty her bottom her shoes are, put them on our table and went to sleep. The first pretender came and told me that the girl had her feet on the table. So I went over there. Ma'am, could you take your feet down? She went back to sleep. So I pulled the table from under her leg. She woke up. She said, "I'm being disrespectful." I said, "You're being disrespectful. You got your feet on our table. People have to eat on this table." I just want to eat. I said, "Do you have a reservation here?" She said, "I do." I said, "What's the room number?" She couldn't give me a room number. She said, "I'm going to call." She said she's going to call somebody and find out what the room number was. >> Returning to the suspect, she still refused to cooperate, forcing the officers to issue a warning. But surprisingly, the grown woman broke down in tears, acting as though she was the victim. >> Pee all over you. I do not want any more pee on me. >> So, you better act right. Okay. >> You're going to get up out of the car, and you're not going to move. >> I'm not. Hey, come on. >> Get up. [laughter] Get up. >> Please. I just want to have breakfast for the day. >> We're going to get your breakfast. >> I don't want to go back. Please. I just want to be. I'm just trying to be [laughter] I don't want to go. >> Have a seat. Have a seat, please. >> I just want to be my cousin. >> We'll get you some. >> Okay. Okay. I'm sorry. I won't come back. Please. I won't come back. Please get in the car. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. I had a long day. Oh my. Please. I won't come back. I won't. Please. I I understand. >> Sit back. Sit back. Sit back. Sit back. >> Please. I understand. My cousin said I can come get >> Sit back. What? Your cousin lied to you. Sit back. >> Sit back, bro. [clears throat] >> Please. Please, I just want to have breakfast. I don't want to be mean to nobody. >> No, that's too late. >> Please, please, I'll apologize. Please >> stop yelling in this video. [laughter] >> Please, I apologize. >> The woman was charged with resisting arrest and criminal mischief, damage to property. She was also trespassed from the hotel. Actions have consequences, and refusing to cooperate after multiple chances often makes a situation much worse. Making excuses or acting like the victim cannot undo disruptive behavior or prevent legal consequences. Unlike shoplifting, the next woman disrupted the operations of an entire store. >> I've been racially profiled. I've been threatened. I >> get out of the car. Get out of the car. You're detained. >> Wow. This is crazy. Black in America, you're not even entitled to get your money back. On the 18th of April 2024, officers were dispatched to a Wendy's after receiving reports of a woman blocking the line of vehicles in the drive-thru. The officers approached the store employee to find out exactly what had happened. >> Your drive or is someone blocking still blocking your drive? >> They're getting so blocking your drivethru. >> They want a refund. Yeah, she she screaming at me and and very hard and customer in the window say oh my kind and she said the customer in the window before her >> uh listen screaming at me is so bad. What what she want the refund for like >> for uh I don't know I'm no state to ask nothing to her and I say come in tomorrow to my big boss because talk to him >> because I can't do nothing and >> you can't do it because she's screaming at you or because you don't have the power to do >> and everything because she's screaming at me and I'm so scared to screaming at me in a window. >> If I can get her to calm down and she does is entitled to a refund. Are you able to do that? >> Yes. But she is screaming at me so bad. >> Yeah. I'm not going to I won't tolerate her screaming at you. >> I won't do that. But but if we can get this sorted. >> Yeah. She She come inside and I invented the >> Okay. She's blocking the whole drive, right? >> Yeah. >> I got you. >> Shortly afterward, the officers approached the woman to find out what was behind her behavior. >> Hi. >> Officer Bett, did you call? >> Yes, I did. I miss these guys for >> Okay. One sec. Just so you know, you're being audio and video recorded. Okay, I've asked these guys for a refund. There's some food that I've purchased for a refund. I've been disrespected. I've been called out my name. I've been threatened. >> Okay, >> you guys have asked for a refund. >> Okay, >> so can you please take this food to them and get my money? >> Okay, that's not my job. >> But >> so how do I get my money? >> So So what what's the issue with it? I'm just trying to get the full story here. >> What I ordered? >> Okay. So >> So I came and I tried to reorder my food >> and she's like, "Um, look." And I'm like, "It's not what I wanted." >> Okay. >> She was like, tomorrow. Okay. >> Correct. >> Okay. >> So, I came here and I said, "Here, take this. Put my money back." >> She said, "Oh, you got to wait until tomorrow." >> Okay. Give me one second. All right. Give me one. I'll be out with babe. >> So, what's your name? >> Tia. >> Tia. Tia. Officer Barnett. >> This man coming out here dragging me in my car. >> Okay. Tia, can you can you hang up and deal with me? I don't feel safe to do that. Sorry. >> Okay. Well, can you at least talk to me? >> Okay. I just want to make sure that we're having a conversation. >> The woman appeared completely distrustful of the officers. And when a male officer arrived to try a different approach, she became even more agitated. >> I don't want to talk anymore. I just want my money. What is the problem? I have been threatened. I have been called out of my name. And now I'm being forced to move. I didn't get out of my car to get the food. I don't understand what the big issue is. >> Did they say why? So, what's what's the issue here? >> I asked her. Okay. I tried to reorder my food. She said she can't hear me. I'm telling her what I want. She's like, "Why are you yelling?" I'm like, "Can you hear me?" She says, "No, I'm I can't hear you." So, I'm saying, "Well, can I'm trying to order my food." She says, "Well, why are you yelling?" And I'm like, "Well, I ordered my food already and you got it wrong, so I just want a replacement." Then she says, "Why are you looking all in my car?" >> So, what's your what's your name? Ma'am, what's your name? >> I used to get some help. >> This is crazy. >> For a refund. >> For a refund. >> For a refund. It's like And the crazy part about it, it's like really kind of challenged. I've been disrespected at this point. I've been threatened and now I can't even get my money back. >> Doing this to block. >> That is crazy. >> I've been racially profiled. I've been threatened. I I've been robbed pretty much. Their food is right there. I still don't have my money back. >> Using the name provided by the woman, the officers quickly discovered that she had an active warrant for assault. Realizing the situation had become far more serious, they immediately took steps to prevent her from leaving and prepare for her arrest. >> Okay. Well, don't move your vehicle because if you move your vehicle, your tires are going to pop. >> That's a tire deflation device. I've told you you're not free to leave. Get out of the car. >> Your car is not in park. >> Get out of the car. You got a warrant. You're detained. Not free to leave. >> I have a warrant. Where? >> Get out of the car. You have a warrant. You're not free to leave. If you drive forward, your tires, >> if you drive forward, your car is going to pop. Do you understand that? >> Get out of here, please. >> Turn your vehicle off. >> Are you the sergeant? >> Turn your vehicle off. >> My sergeant could be in route. >> Yes, please. That is crazy. To get out. I tell you guys to get a refund. And you're telling me And who has a warrant for what? >> Step. You have a warrant. Step out of the vehicle >> now. I'll wait for your sergeant to >> step out of the vehicle. >> The woman suddenly demanded to leave after previously refusing to do so, but things were no longer going the way she had hoped. The officers ordered her to step out of the vehicle and proceeded with the arrest. >> Step out. Ketchup's not going to hurt you. >> You're holding up about 15 people. >> Well, can I >> for a refund? Okay, get out of the car. Get out of the car. You're detained. >> Wow. This is crazy. Black in America, you're not even entitled to get your money back. Put your hands behind your back. You're being detained in handcuffs. >> For what? >> For your warrant. Now, I told you you're under. I want a refund. You haven't even identified me. >> You haven't even asked me for identification. You ask me for a warrant. You haven't identified me before I identify. Get out here now. Please. >> Can I grab your shoes for you? >> Hey, Mickey. Just see if the line can start reversing or something. >> Okay. >> Can we move your car? >> Go ahead. >> All right. >> In my pocket, please. >> Hey, Hanky, can you pull Can this officer get in your car and move it up there? >> Yeah, just to that parking spot. >> Just move the car for us real quick. >> Can you grab her bike? >> He's going to move the car. I I called you guys to help me get a refund and you're arresting me >> and I was trying to get you a refund. >> But how yelling at me? I was not yelling. >> I I'm not You don't think this is upsetting for me? >> You don't think this is upsetting for me? >> There's no like that doesn't matter. >> I've been threatened. I've been talked crazy too because I asked for you or not. >> Can I have my phone, please? Can you put my phone in my pocket? >> No. Let's walk over here. We're going to go to the other side of the store and to one of our patrol cars. >> We're going to just take her to our patrol car. >> Shortly afterward, the woman's sister arrived to pick up the suspect's vehicle. It seemed as though everything was about to come to an end, but she was far from willing to accept what had happened. >> She wanted to pay for what she paid for. >> She has a warrant out of rent. >> Mhm. >> Uh and then she's also looking at an obstructing charging. >> I just want to know why she's going to jail. Is she going to be able to bail out? Like she's going to jail because of a drive accident. >> She's getting booked in on a warrant for her arrest from renting. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> She's got a warrant that says demands that officers take her into custody. >> Well, when you pulled her name after she called you for some assistance for uh uh a refund from Wendy's, right? So, you're taking my sister for a refund from Wendy's. Um >> No, that's not She's going to jail for a warrant. I understand she has a warrant, but how did you identify her as having a warrant? Is it because she's black? >> No. >> We're a completely transparent agency, so you have the case number. If you've got a lot of questions about it, you can request not only just the case, but you can request all of our body camera footage and everything will come to you. So, if if you if you really think something >> I'm confused on is the detainment. That's really what I'm confused. It went from a warrant to now you're getting obstruction, now you're adding extra charges. So, I'm that's where I'm confused. I'm confused by the whole situation. It played out. I need a refund. I'm calling the police because you're not providing me with a refund. So, I will have to follow up with everybody and and make probably make them file a grievance against everybody cuz it's very unprofessional. >> You can do that with me right now. >> The woman was arrested on active warrants for fourthderee assault and failure to appear and was additionally charged with obstructing a law enforcement officer. Never assume calling the police will shield you from the consequences of your own actions, especially when you refuse to cooperate with lawful orders. >> I go to jail for not resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> Put your back. Put your back there. Put your back there. >> I'm asking you, can we pay for my troubles instead of going to jail? Because I know >> on the 21st of January, 2024, the police approached the woman as she attempted to leave Walmart with a full cart of allegedly unpaid merchandise. And with their presence, she became overwhelmed and confused by what was unfolding. >> Why am I going to jail for? >> Do not resist. >> I'm not resisting. >> Put your back. Put your bag there. Put your bag there. >> Right here. >> What am I going to jail? >> You're under arrest for shoplifting. But these are supposed to be people returning. >> They're supposed to be for See how this works is you can't take stuff from inside and not pay for it and take it out and then return it. That's called fraud. It's called stealing. That's how that works. >> You kind of have to pay for stuff before you return it. 124. I got the mail. I have to paint I think um 54 and 56. Can I turn off my stuff, please? Can I take off my stuff, please? >> 54. Yeah, we got both uh detained. We can go back to Maine. >> Not pay for all the stuff besides >> No. No, that's not how it works. >> I'm not being sarcastic. >> No, I'm not being sarcastic either. You're an adult. You can't steal stuff from the store, two cart loads full of stuff, and then say, "Oh, I'm in handcuffs now. Now I want to return it." Clearly, the direction of her shopping cart full of goods was toward the exit. Therefore, there was no credible possibility of returning items. At that moment, with the presence of loss prevention staff, she immediately shifted the target of her pleading without any shame. >> Isn't we pay for our done with that? You stole the bags to begin with. >> No, that's my bag. >> No, you stole these bags to begin with. Your sticky hands got into my my stuff. Look, there they are. You even have more in your own personal bag that you just said is yours. >> That is my personal bag. >> And who's in that? I'm in >> put her in your car and then he can go in his car. >> And then I'll get everything started and go from there. Yep. Just start getting IDs and we'll go from there. I'm recording. So, food. Nice. >> Where were they bagging this up? So they went into well they were in two different departments. They went to the shoe department where they did most of it. >> Okay. >> And they did some where the towels are. >> Okay. And they were bagging it as >> they were bagging as they were going. >> Okay. All the merchandise back. >> All right. Cool. I'll go with you. She's going to go right here. So the entire cart of merchandise was recovered. Yet the woman who claimed she had already paid for the items showed little concern for the goods she had taken, focusing far more on her car. >> I have to have something to get. >> Yeah. Or I can get to >> No, but then if you have the keys, they won't be able to get it. So that's why I'm asking. >> Well, I'll I'll call the toe and then they will get the keys. We'll give the keys to We'll give the keys to the toe. >> They live around the corner. Can they pick it up, please? >> Listen, you realize you're committing a crime, right? You really committing a crime. We can't we can't be we're not going to be assisting you with your with your what you want to do cuz you're committing crimes and now you want to not tow your car feet >> on me not telling my car. I'm just asking politely if they can help pick it up. >> No. >> H >> can they? >> No. >> Sometimes they allow it. >> What is this? Is this a pocket that goes into >> Sometimes they allow it. That's what I'm asking you. >> Allowing what? because they won't have a car. >> I don't I don't know what you're asking me. >> If my people can if the car owner can't come pick up the car. >> Well, figure that out. >> I'm being very respectful. >> I know. I know. Yeah, I know. >> I'm being very respectful. I'm not trying to disrespect you. I'm just asking if it's the possibility that I can call >> We'll see. We'll see you on depending on how how you cooperate from here on. Okay. >> Okay. No problem. The woman remained completely calm, convinced she would never face consequences for her actions. Showing no shame whatsoever, she continued proposing absurd solutions while pleading with the officers. >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> Well, about the the carbon >> about everything that just happened now. >> I'm asking you, can we pay for my troubles instead of going to jail? Because I know >> Well, listen. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> I'm talking to you. >> Yes or no? I need a yes or no. Okay. All right. So, I don't know exactly what happened. Yeah. >> Do I have his ID? >> No. No. Uh, your ID? >> No, I don't have my ID. >> You don't have your none of these three? >> That's my uncle and my cousin. We went out, so they didn't have a bag. >> Okay. >> Can you um call my husband off my phone? >> Huh? >> Can you call my husband off my phone? Like, can you do it? Like you just go to the contract and tell me I can just say like come pick up the car. >> I'm like I said I'm gonna figure that out at the end. Your car is the least of your worries right now. Literally your least of your worries. You should that's the last question you need to be asking right now. There's a lot of things we got to figure out first cuz obviously you committed a crime. So we're ask I'm ask for my >> So I'm going to ask I'm going to ask you once and once only. Okay. About what happened and you need to tell me the exact truth. If you don't tell me the exact truth, that's gonna be on you. >> Okay. So, tell me from from exactly what happened, what you stole, everything from literally where you went. >> Towels. Towels. >> Huh? So, what time do you Who do you come here with? >> I come here with my god brother. >> Okay. And what car? >> Finally, the woman was charged with felony grand theft. Thinking you can talk your way out after getting caught often makes a bad situation even worse. Accountability matters more than excuses. What do you think about cases like this?
