Push up. >> I'm a woman. >> To an Instagram model who acted innocent. >> The next thing she scans is a t- sheep one three times and puts two more expensive ones in the bag. >> They called us and said you were shoplifting. >> How are we doing that? >> Listen, stop saying how. I'm telling you what we're here for. and many other cases like these. >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Put your ass on the ground. >> I look at the prices. I'm for sure to be arrested. >> There are the times when dumb shoplifterss try to play innocent. Starting with this woman. She played the victim as her offenses [music] continued to pile up. >> Looks like she took the bag. She wanted the bag. >> Yeah. right now and stuff looks like it's all hers. >> If you won't let me drive you in this car is the only option in the jail van. >> On the 23rd of February 2024, officers were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report about a woman who was shoplifting for the second time. When officers approached her, she immediately resisted, causing the situation to escalate. Hey ma'am, can you stop right there for me? >> Oh, sorry. Sorry. Yes. >> All right. >> Can you just go ahead and turn around for me? Am >> I in trouble? >> Yeah, you're in trouble. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> We'll talk about Stop. [snorts] Stop. Stop. >> Stop. Get on the ground. Get on the Get on the ground. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> Put your hands behind your back now. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Don't hurt me at all. Please, please, >> for one detained. >> I swear to God. Please don't. Please don't hurt me. >> Okay. Please >> roll over onto the side towards me. >> Sit up on your butt. >> Yes, sir. Don't hurt me. >> Stand up. >> Yes, sir. You'll have to help me up. >> I am helping you up. >> Don't. >> We're going to walk. Can you push that for me? >> Yes. I'm not left the store with anything. I have my name. >> Concealing items within a store is stealing. >> No, it's not. >> Yes, it is. I know if I'm going to buy them. I have them in bags and I might go out the store, sir. You can wear stuff out of the store if you want to. >> Concealing items within a store is stealing. >> Am I allowed to take them or not? >> You've already stolen it. >> I haven't stolen anything. I'm not left, though. I understand that. I have money. I'm not stealing. >> Right now, you're under arrest for resisting and largely. >> I didn't mean to resist you. I was just I was scared of you. >> When you walk away from me, it's actively resisting. Okay. >> I did not know that. Please don't do that to me. I did not mean to resist you at all. Please don't hurt me. I can use. >> No, you're you are resisting. You're going to get charged for it. >> She insisted that what she did was not theft, denying everything from stealing to resisting arrest. But the loss prevention team clearly saw things differently. >> Still has a on it. >> Yep. >> And fresh spray paint all over it. >> She spray painted it in the store. >> Yes. Inside the aisle and then put That's why I grabbed these so I knew which one she did cuz I was right behind her when she was doing it. >> Did the cameras pick any of that up? >> Unfortunately, that aisle. No. >> Okay. unfortunately. But I have her grabbing the backpack and then or the purse thing and the clothing and going from apparel into the back bathroom. >> Can you And did she have other items on her hand when she went back there? >> Uh it was some clothing. It was like a pink shirt. Uh I want to say it was a black shirt or something like that. >> Okay. Did she throw this down when you guys started following her? >> No, she threw it into the uh car. >> Oh, this is the one she ditched. >> Yeah, that's the one she ditched in the back bathroom. >> In the bathroom. Okay. >> Yeah. Holy [ __ ] There's a lot more in there than I thought. That might be some of her own stuff, though. >> Did you check the bathroom for tags already? >> Let me call it. >> Returning to the woman, she still seemed unaware of how her actions had been characterized in the charges. She continued trying to prove that she was innocent. >> I have tons of money on cash. I'd like to purchase it. >> Sit down. Have a seat. >> She said she wants to purchase the items. >> My name, >> you're under arrest for resisting already. Anyway, >> starting to wipe me out. >> Okay. Well, I'm not shutting the door on you yet. >> Okay. Just slide slide in. >> I have to go to the hospital. >> You good out here for >> that one I believe is going to be hers because it's got like makeup and crap on it. >> Yeah, it looks kind of old. This stuff This stuff's got tags. T75 Goodwill. >> Goodwill. >> Goodwill. Okay. So, >> yeah. >> So, there was a pink shirt she had. I know. I saw the pink shirt and she had something else in her arms. Well, this one's got a ripped tag on it. >> Okay. So, overnight team lead is looking >> Oh, it doesn't have the actual tag. It just has a little medium. >> It might be Goodwill, too, though. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I'm going to say this one's probably Goodwill cuz typically ours will have like a UPC on it. >> This looks like this stuff's Looks like she took the bag. She wanted the bag. >> Yeah. >> Right now, this stuff looks like it's all hers. >> There it is. There you go. There's the pink shirt. >> There it is. That's what I saw. And there's the best. >> Yep. That's going to be our shoes. >> So, these >> this >> I think this is a set. >> These look like her shoes. >> Yep. I never noticed that she had new shoes on. >> I have no idea. This yours. >> I can scan it and see. >> I'm not seeing a barcode label on. >> Oh, there's no barcode. No, it's not ours. >> Several items were not from Walmart and may have been stolen elsewhere. But mixing them all together clearly showed she had no intention of [music] shopping, making it difficult for the officer to determine which products were from Walmart. >> That's not going to be ours. I don't think that's ours. >> I don't think that's ours. >> It's a little torn up. >> Yeah, that looks really be yours. And this stuff. >> Okay, so that's what she was grabbing cuz I was backtracking her while she was in the back bathroom. So like, okay, she went in there and I see the tags on everything. So I was backtracking her still. >> Well, she's putting it in Walmart bags. We'll go ahead and list the food items as she was intending to steal them. >> Okay. >> That's the bag she took into the bathroom right there. >> She left it. >> It's just got the stuffing in the the hangers from >> Perfect. I'm going to get a picture of that for my case. So, that just shows she was doing what she was doing. >> Yeah. I'll just need pictures of the purse. And then which she only used one of the spray paint cans? >> Both of them. >> She used both of them. >> Yeah. It's hard to tell. Looks like yeah, she went over with the dark blue and then the light blue over that. >> All right. So, we'll list both those have been stolen, too. And then >> she in technicality, it was a consumption in a way. >> Pride view of your interest in that property. >> Is this yours? >> While the store worked to identify the products and their prices, the woman outside put on another act, now portraying herself as the victim. >> She said the back one. >> Open wide. >> One bad. You said it was [music] the back one. It was the Was it What did you say it was? >> The rotten one. >> The rott one in the back. >> Is it back? >> No, I can't tell. I can't tell. >> Oh, God. >> Hey, Tammy. >> Yes. >> I need you to listen up. Okay. >> Yes. >> You have the right to remain silent for to hire a lawyer. Won't be appointed Rosie before any questioning if you wish. You sign any time to exercise these rights. I answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand she's right to explain to you? >> No, sir. I did not know that you were an officer. I didn't go outside. All I see was your face. >> You didn't know I was an officer? >> No. And then you grabbed at me. I moved. And then when I seen that you were a cop and you grabbed a hold of me, I stopped and just submitted to >> You didn't stop. You pulled away from me. >> I didn't know you were a cop until I submitted to you. I'm puke and [ __ ] Why' you hurt so bad? >> You sell those? >> No. Okay. Uh I need to get her bag out of your office. >> Yes. >> Oh, she trespassed, too. I would love it if she were trespassed, too. >> She's not trespassed, but that's her. It's her second event. >> She's stolen here before. >> Not our store, but uh Seventh Street. Okay. Do you have like a case number associated with that picture from the police department? >> Uh that I don't know cuz this is from 2 years ago. >> Was she stealing there? >> Yeah. They got $49 back and didn't recover $21. >> So this was not her first offense. Yet she showed no shame as she tried to portray herself as the victim to the officer even after admitting her own criminal history. >> You're saying you've never been in jail before? >> I've been in jail. >> What did you go to jail for? >> Simple assault. We're going to take the handcuffs off you and put around front. Okay, turn around. Turn in the car so I can take the handcuffs off you. If you don't work with me, I can't help you. >> My leg is numb. >> You walked out here just fine, Tammy. >> My leg is numb. >> Come on. Step out here for us. >> Can you help me? I don't want to fall. My leg is >> happy to help you. There you go. Step out here. Turn. Step out here. I need you to turn. >> What are you What? >> We're taking them off of you. Are you cutting me now? >> Now turn around. >> My legs asleep. >> Okay. Well, step back and then you can sit down in the car. >> My leg is >> Stop it, Tammy. >> My hand is You know you're still going to go to jail, right? >> Here. I don't like to be embarrassed in front of every animal in the world. I just can't do it. >> Sit down. Put your hands in front of me. >> I can't breathe. >> Put your hands in front of you. >> Oh, please don't stress me. I'm going to stroke out on you. Please don't kill me on my hurts already. Watch that wrist. It hurts me so bad. >> Those aren't tight. >> It's still sharp. I got so scared. >> Don't be up. Don't be so rough. >> I'm not trying to be rough with you. Okay. >> My ass. You're very I did not mean to push up like that. >> Put your foot up there. Push up. >> I'm a woman. >> Shut that door. >> I have to shut the door. I can't drive you down there with the door open. And the only other option is I call the jailband out here and they put you in a restraint wrap. >> You know what the rap is? >> I don't want to torture you. It's not torture. It's a It's a lawful way of restraint. So if you if you won't let me drive you in this car, the only option is in the jail van in a restraint chair or a restraint wrap. And I don't want to do that to you. Okay. >> Don't be like >> Okay. In the end, Tammy was charged with misdemeanor stealing and resisting arrest. She pleaded guilty to both charges, served 5 days in jail, and was sentenced to 2 years of probation. Trying to portray herself as the victim did not change the outcome. Her own actions, the recovered merchandise, [music] and her resistance ultimately led to convictions she could not talk her way out of. Next, the elderly woman even used her hearing impairment to avoid taking responsibility. >> Have you ever been arrested before, Laura? >> Yeah, I have. >> For what? I mean, for what? >> But then when I found out it was $600, it's like I didn't realize. >> On the 21st of January, 2026, police received a report from Target that they had detained an elderly woman for shoplifting. And more importantly, this was not her first offense. When officers arrived at the scene, the employee also recounted everything that had happened beforehand. So, they're finishing up like the 360 for the total amount and stuff, but I do have this um lady over here today. She basically came in, selected a bunch of merchandise, craft purses, started filling them up, and then she passed as I apprehended her. Um she's been very compliant. Um but she's just telling me right now that I think she does have like prior history with like retail. So, okay. Um here's her. Okay. How much was it? >> Um, Lori, I'll tell you right now cuz they're bringing the receipt. >> Laura, is this still your current address in Warrenville? >> I'm pardon. >> Is this still your current address in Warrenville? >> That's my current. >> Okay. Okay. What's going on, Laura? >> Pardon me. >> What? What? What's going on? >> I don't know how much it is. >> Okay. So, you just put stuff in your bag? >> Yes, it was in the cart. >> Okay. It was clear that the woman was hard of hearing, making communication somewhat difficult. However, she later used her hearing impairment as an excuse to try to lessen her responsibility for what had happened. >> You had no intentions to pay for your stuff. >> I'm pardon me. >> You had no intentions to pay for your stuff. You didn't want to pay? >> Yes. I was going to go ahead and go to the register. I didn't mean to go. I lost a key. >> Okay. and I was going to go ahead and um I thought maybe I had dropped it on on the way in. So I asked her >> I knew that she worked here. >> Um even though she wasn't in uniform. >> Okay. >> Um and and I was hard of hearing to where I didn't hear her. >> Okay. And I thought she was talking to me and I went out the first door, not the second door. >> Mhm. >> And I was asking her a question and she was saying something and I didn't hear her and she just wanted me to come in the office. >> Okay. So, I'm here. >> But was this excuse really convincing when she showed little sign of remorse even while she was pleading with the officers afterward? Have you done this before? >> Yes, I did. Please don't arrest me because I'm going to go in jail. >> I have one case I have to go to. Please. >> What? What? Uh what store? >> I won't do it yet. I promise. >> What store? Is it for another Target? >> I have to stand up. >> I'm sorry. Is it for another Target? >> What's No, not another Target. >> Okay. >> Walmart. How much? >> Thank you. >> I'm so sorry. >> You can take a seat. You can sit down. >> Now remember, I'm hard here. I'm deaf in one ear. >> Better that one. Okay. Okay. Careful. Okay. >> Okay. What would you guys like to have done? >> Okay. >> All right. >> So, she welcome what you got. >> 665. >> Okay. So, >> the stolen merchandise was worth $667, enough to support the theft charge. It was only after hearing that figure that she finally began to show concern. $667. >> $600. >> It's all the merchandise. It's I know. It's the glasses, the bows, everything. It's expensive. [music] Oh my god. I did not realize it was too much. What was it basically up from? >> Uh I >> The sunglasses. >> The sunglasses and the purses. The purses are expensive. Like everything like that's accessories, like jewelry, like all of that is expensive. So yeah. >> Oh my god. I look at the prices. I'm for sure be arrested. Oh god. [music] I can't stop. I would have made it. >> What's your name? >> I don't have that kind of money. >> What's your name? Yes. >> Your name? >> Pard. >> Your name? >> Laura. >> Laura. >> Okay. >> Her remorse also appeared far from genuine as she later admitted to her history of offenses and even revealed that she was already dealing with a pending case. >> Have you ever been arrested before, Laura? >> Yeah, I am. >> For what? >> I mean, >> for what? Okay. How many times? >> But never this much. >> How many times? >> Um, three times. >> Okay. >> A long time ago. >> When was the last time you were arrested? The last time. >> Last time. I'm um I I have one right now and this one. Okay, >> that's why I can't be I I maybe I should go through one door. I always want to pay for this, but I didn't know that much. >> I got you. I'm going to read you your rights. Okay. You know what your Miranda rights are? I'm going to read your rights. Okay. >> I I want you to listen because I know you're saying you have a hard time hearing. So, just >> Yeah. They're already just >> Okay. So, listen to me, okay? Cuz this is important. This is just like the movies. I got to read it to you. Do you understand that? Okay, now I feel more comfortable talking to you cuz you're telling me all kinds of stuff. Okay. >> Why did the uh why did the lady leave? >> She still showed no intention of taking responsibility for her actions. As soon as she left the office, she once again claimed that she had been set up. >> I asked her. I didn't There's Hang on. Hang on. Hang on one second, Laura. I can help you out. Hang on. >> Oh, well. >> I asked her about the key. I didn't hear her. Then I took more steps in. >> It was like as if I felt like I was trapped. >> Okay. >> Do you follow me? >> H Did I follow you? >> No. No. No. Her >> when I the manager there. >> Yeah. >> I took one step but got really completely in. I asked her about the red key that I had lost and I didn't hear her and she was the corn in the corner up to the second door. >> Okay. >> And >> I felt like it just it was entrapping. >> Okay. You'll be able to when you when you have that court date, you'll be able to talk to the judge and let them know about what's going on. Okay. That's why you have that that court date. Okay. Thank you. >> Yep. Make sure you get in and then I'm going to grab the seat belt so that we can wrap it around you so you can be safe. >> But then when I found out it was $600, it's like I didn't realize but but I didn't really see the [ __ ] >> Yeah. >> I I was really out of it. Okay. >> All right. >> Laura was arrested and charged with theft after Target determined that the merchandise she took was worth $667. She was also trespassed from that target location for 1 year. Repeated offenses and refusing to take responsibility can make a suspect's excuses far less convincing, especially when the evidence clearly shows their actions. Next, this 23-year-old Instagram model showed no willingness to take responsibility either. >> I love my baby. >> Listen, I get it, but you hit it down a bad >> Okay. Like maybe I was moving too fast like but a lot of stuff a lot of stuff was skin like >> on the 7th of August 2022 officers stopped a vehicle suspected of being connected to a theft that had occurred at Walmart. The suspect was believed to be the woman in the white shirt sitting in the passenger seat. Here's what happened after the officer approached. >> They called us and said you were shoplifting. >> How? We don't got anything. >> Listen, stop saying how. I'm telling you what we're here for. >> Boo. I don't care though. We didn't steal anything. >> [ __ ] >> I didn't end it, bro. >> So So how come >> none of us stole anything? Well, we didn't though. We were still in the store shopping. >> Well, guess what? >> We're 75 on three. >> All right. Damn. >> Oh, that's paid for. It's receipts in the bag. >> Okay. >> You don't got to look at us like we stealing, bro. That's creep. Don't do that, bro. It's nothing stolen, though. >> It's creep. We just went to a store. Period. We just went to a store. It's nothing stolen. That's creep. Don't even look at us like we stole. I'm going to tell you something. Okay. Love you, man. Cuz they they really tripping. Look, he even know he >> I can't explain. >> I couldn't even get >> Listen to me. I can't explain stuff to you if you keep talking. >> All right. Well, come on. >> All right. >> I'm not saying you stole anything right now. >> Okay. Thank you. What I'm telling you is >> we got 620 in groceries like and food stamps and I'm still home. I mean paying for stuff. So he they know >> period. >> Her constant interruptions and stammering only revealed how panicked she was making the situation escalate further. At that point the officers tried to calm the situation down. >> So they called us because they said that she was stealing. >> Okay. >> I was >> Stop. Just stop. This is a time for listening. Okay. >> We weren't there. >> So, right now, we're investigating it. That gives us probable cause to detain everyone involved. >> Yes. That includes you. Okay. Um, more importantly, your child, there's no car seat for him in this car. You have open bottles of alcohol in this car. So, that's on you right now. >> Doesn't matter if it's old or not. >> If I have a pound of weed in the car and you can't go, "Oh, that was from last week, right?" Correct. >> I don't get in trouble. Like I don't >> Well, you got to open alcohol in your car. So, that's a whole different situation on yourself. So, it would be best in your interest to just calm down. Let us conduct our investigation. >> My kids, man. >> Yeah. Well, you shouldn't be conducting this activity with your kids. >> I wasn't in I don't I was on >> You're not driving with the kid without without a car seat. >> On the whole other side. >> You weren't driving with a kid with open bottles of alcohol in your car? >> Okay. I was on a whole another side. >> How were you on the other side? You're driving. Your kids's in the back seat. Correct. >> Ma'am, we're talking about your vehicle. Operate a motor vehicle >> with alcohol in it and no child seat. >> That's what we're talking about. >> So, I got to go to jail. >> I'm Let us in do one investigation at a time. >> Returning to the suspect, she continued to deny the theft, but her frightened look only made the officers question the credibility of her story. >> We both scanned. So, she was right there next to me. She even walked away. But she told me, "Make sure. I already know. >> We both scanning anything." Like I don't mind scanning stuff. It's free. It's $320. We both skin and stuff. She just walked away before. >> I don't mind. >> Just Just listen to me. Okay. >> I don't know what's going to happen. We're here. Okay. At best. Listen. Just You're not listening. >> I'm already a communicator. I don't want to happen to me if I'm a baby. >> Listen. We will make this as painless as possible with you. Okay. >> At best, you got a nice complaint against Walmart. Okay. But let us do our job. >> Okay. That's fine. So, this officer is going to ask you some questions. >> Okay. And I already said it. >> All right. But he's going to read you something. >> He already Oh, you asked you, didn't I? >> No. I was talking about her. >> She's been already said it straight up. Like, it was all food stamps. It's all food stamps. >> I didn't steal anything. >> I didn't put nothing in my purse. It It was good. >> Like, it's all food stamps. Like, we was drinking a little bit, but we was both skinny. We was both Do you have an idea if you can get the video the process with the um >> As time went on the pressure on the woman became heavier and under that pressure she began to admit to her actions. >> You know it's 2022, correct? Walmart has the best camera system. >> Already know who >> we know. Listen when I ask questions. All right. >> I want you to be honest with me. >> You understand? >> Okay. >> All right. I may ask you questions that seem blatantly I know the answer and it is because I know the answer. But it's my way of judging if you're going to be honest with me or not. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> But we didn't honestly still. I promise. Like maybe I was moving too fast. Like but a lot of a lot of stuff was scammed. Like maybe one or two things wasn't paid for. I promise. Like I was drinking so if anything it wasn't scanned but I promise like a lot of stuff was paid for. I got food stamps. I don't got no reason to steal food and I just don't want my baby to see me get arrested. Like yeah I was drinking but I promise I wouldn't try to steal poop. >> Like I got no reason to steal poop. Get a citation. >> Have a nice day. >> I got no reason to steal poopy. I just don't. >> Have a good day. I just don't got no reason to still prove. I already got enough for stuff going on. I've been doing it so good, but I just don't got no reason to still like if I got to go, I'mma go. >> Okay. >> Just cuz like I'mma go cuz I ain't got no choice. But >> So you were scanning the items? Are you Are you claiming Are you claiming you were just drunk and that's why you didn't scan all the items? >> No, I said I was drunk. Or did you honestly? But we was both trying to check. It's most of I got six. >> I know. But listen, I I get we was together. Like I thought I was I think I did. They shouldn't be but one or two things. Okay. I'm sorry. >> She claimed it was only an accident because she was not in the right state of mind. But according to the video the officers had reviewed. There was no such story. >> But like what we stand for. >> So the video shows >> Yes. The video shows me telling her why you leaving like that's >> you ringing everything up. >> Okay. >> And then you running out the door leaving all your stuff. You got $214 in groceries. >> I didn't just leave. I was even talking to the people when we walked over. >> Do you have all your groceries in your car? >> No, but that's because she left. But I was even telling her, "Listen, if you look on the camera, >> bro." Because they was arguing. She was arguing with me. >> Okay. >> It was two people arguing with me. >> So you just Here's my thing. If I'm going Listen, >> I told them >> if I'm going Look, I told them. >> Lovey, this is your last chance to stop interrupting me. >> All right. I'm sorry. >> Okay. My patience is wearing very thin >> with you. >> I'll take it. >> No, >> I'll take the blame. >> I know you will. >> But what I'm saying is if I go grocery shopping and I didn't steal, I'm not leaving $214. >> But that's what I was telling the people. >> Let him finish. >> Y'all not letting me say it, but I told them. >> It's not the time to say. >> I'll say it. >> Let him finish. And then >> it's not the time to say. >> I told them straight up. >> What are y'all saying? I told him that. >> It's okay. I told them straight up >> with my baby crying, running out the door with her. They kept trying to leave me. I wasn't trying to leave out the store. >> Inside the store, the surveillance footage was reviewed further, revealing the full extent of the woman's actions that she had previously denied. >> She paid for two of the same pork chops. None of them were the same price, and she scanned the same one multiple times. They were all different weights. Um, and she back she only scanned it twice even >> and put four of them in the bag >> here. She has three of those in her hand. Scans it twice and all three. >> You can go ahead and Can you go back? I thought I only saw two. I'm >> sorry. Can you go back to that? I thought I only saw two. One of each hand. There's one underneath. Okay. So, there's two in that and one in better perform. Good night. Um, the next thing she scans is a t-bone steak. And she scans the same cheap one three times and puts two more expensive ones in the bag. The woman was arrested shortly afterward and was charged with retail petty theft. Honesty would have been the better choice as denying the theft only became harder once the surveillance footage exposed what really happened. Her attempt to explain it away ultimately left her facing the consequences of her actions. Next, this man took advantage of his position at work to steal $2,500. >> No problem. >> Can you start a LEA unit over here? >> Well, how are you? That's fine. I just I just don't have a way for me to do that now. I appreciate it. Thank you. On the 24th of April 2025, police were dispatched to the scene to arrest 47year-old Daario Zarita, a revenue supervisor at Palm Tran, after he was linked to the theft of thousands of dollars in cash from secured vaults and ticket vending machines. In addition, his co-workers had provided several statements about the incident. >> Do can you see him take the money? >> No, he's standing in the middle of the vault so that he's obscuring the camera view, but this has happened a few times. This is an ongoing situation. >> Okay. >> He did see the police, so I'm sure he's aware of what's going on. Now, >> while speaking with the employee, the male suspect appeared in a white truck. Officers then began searching the vehicle where they would soon discover crucial evidence. >> All the way in the back. >> Okay. All right, sir. So, okay. So, Palm Tran's asking us to look in your car real quick. Is there anything in the car that that should not be in the car? >> No. >> No. Okay. Can I see the keys, please, on Thank you, sir. You just stand with me over the way back. >> That one right there. >> Yeah, >> that's the >> I'm assuming that's Yeah, >> it's your vehicle so we can search if you wanted to. >> Yeah, go ahead. Junior here. Search it. >> No problem. >> Can you start a Lima unit over here? >> Okay. Yep. No problem. >> All right. Just take him into custody real quick. The suspect was taken into custody and officers then gave him an opportunity to admit to his actions. >> All right, Dor, you want to tell me what's going on and why we're here today? >> Uh, it's uh I said I haven't I don't think I did anything wrong. I drew back in my bag. It's the one that I I just I was just there talking with the guys cash. >> Um was a TV that we were counting back here. I had a doctor's appointment that had to reschedu. I mean, I've worked for the company for a long time. And >> you're the revenue supervisor? >> Yes, I work on the download revenues. >> So, is it is it typical for you to have money in the trunk of the car? >> Well, no blankets. >> No, I didn't spend mine. Uh, I typ it's typical for me to do revenue service like we were doing yesterday with my boss at the TBMs where we we move like the ATN stuff and we deposited. That's what I was doing here today. But as far as I already speak with my attorney about >> He avoided giving a direct answer and chose to remain silent until he could speak with an attorney. Meanwhile, when officers spoke with the female employee, she provided an explanation about the money he had been carrying. >> So he didn't have an excuse for why the money was back there. >> Nope. He was like, I don't know. I was dropping off this person here and what TBM. >> Yeah. Ticket vending machines. >> Yeah. And he was like, we were doing money, but he had no he was like that. He said, that's not mine. And then said like he wants to talk to a lawyer. Okay. Was it concealed? >> It was in that It was that sweater that's around. It was on top of it. >> On top. >> Yeah. So, you're obviously trying to conceal it. >> Yeah. >> It was legitimately moving it. The sweater wouldn't have been in there >> and he wouldn't be by himself. >> She's saying protocol. >> Protocol to move money. There's always two people. >> Apparently, he's like the number one of the financing level. >> He's over all of the cash accounters. >> So, the guys that count all of our money, he's over them. And they were the ones that reported to the director that things something wasn't right. So, I asked her for the video that of wherever this is stored to see him coming and going. And then you guys are going to someone's going to want to speak to the uh employees that call wait somebody. >> So, I have the director's number. I can give that to you guys. >> Okay, perfect. Thank you. >> Returning to the suspect, he was taken to the police department for further investigation. He made a call to an attorney, but it appeared to be someone he was only beginning to hire. >> I'm booked at the police department in D Beach, man. something happened on a job where I'm being booked um for theft and um not sure. I just got booked. They're looking um [music] I was pretty much doing change and I'm here with the police officer. I don't know if he's asking if there's a felon here, Mr. >> We don't know yet. We have to count the money. >> We don't know yet. >> Okay. >> I got you. >> Someone on the outside, someone on the outside needs to uh hire me. Your wife, your girlfriend. >> I will hire you. That's fine. I just I just don't have a way for me to do that now. I appreciate it. Thank you. I'm not sure if I'll be able to come out and I don't know how that works. [music] You know, last time that happened. >> The Palm Tran director was then asked to come to the scene to provide additional information. She also brought new details and perspectives from her employees that could shed more light on the case. >> Tell me a little bit about what happened, why you're here. On Wednesday the 23rd, I received a text message >> from one of my staff telling me that they wanted to have a quick confidential meeting and that they had some sensitive information that they me. And so I set up a meeting with them yesterday on the 23rd at 8:30 a.m. And in that meeting, he revealed to me some suspicions, >> okay, >> that his supervisor, Dario Zorita, may have been stealing some money from our cash vault. >> Okay. and he gave me two dates >> um that he just >> had notated where there were just suspicious activities, moments and and things like that. Those were the two dates that he had that they recorded that they, you know, that they could bring to memory, but they believe that it had been happening for a while. Okay. >> There had been internal whisperings. I have four I call them fiscal specialists um that work in that section and so five actually but four of them had been suspicious of the activities there um and they prompted him to please reach out to somebody because he's the senior >> right >> he's a senior out of that four or five >> out of that yes >> and what was Mr. Zarita's title or description? >> He is the revenue supervisor. >> Okay. Dario, does he have a specific office that he works out of or a specific location or is it kind of all over the place? >> He is mainly stationed at the Palm Trend Connection office, but the nature of the job is that you're moving through all the locations where there's cash there as well. >> Gotcha. >> From the employees initial suspicions to an explanation of his position, the director then provided a detailed account of the suspect's actions. as are our fiscals. So they they count the cash for all of those facilities. But once that function is done, >> they go back to the Palm Trand connection. Mr. Zerita seems to be doing is he comes in in the middle of the count where all the counting, any cash handled should be done with two personnel. There should not be at any point in time where one individual is carrying cash. >> Now, these will check the video and something funny is going on. Yeah, he's coming in with the bag >> and telling staff because he knows that he shouldn't be bringing the bag in there. Not just in the vault room, but he's putting the bag actually in the safe and he's saying, "These is the bag where we keep our TVM ticket vending machine keys to service them." And he doesn't, you know, want to let it out of his side or whatever it is. That's his justification for bringing it with him into the vault room and putting it in the safe where it's safe. >> Okay. staff observed and told me that they are seeing him put it in the safe open unzipped >> the bag open. Okay. >> The bag open unzipped. >> And when you say bag, are you talking >> grocery bag or like a reusable >> small lunch bag? >> Okay. >> It is a palm train bag. >> Okay. >> When he comes in and he puts that bag in there, he closes the vault. >> Okay. >> So staff's, why are you closing the vault? You know, we're counting. We're going to be moving cash in and out. So he puts the bag in there, closes the vault, and proceeds to help staff count cash. As staff is counting and bundling the cash, they'll put it to the side on the table. Okay. >> He will clear out some of the cash and put in the vault. >> Is there a certain number denomination that they bundle it into? >> I believe it's a thousand per. So it's safe to assume that each bundle is a,000 symbols. Okay. So Bryce doesn't have individual keys to the safes. >> I don't believe so. Okay. >> Meanwhile, detectives counted the recovered cash and confirmed the amount collected at the scene. >> 600 600 700 >> 3600. >> So 1,800 plus another two. That's $2,500. >> $2,500. >> Hello. >> Uh you said that she's waiting in the lobby. >> Yeah, she'll wait here to get it. >> Yeah, we're we're we're finishing up right now. We just count as $2,500. >> Okay. Miss Johnson. >> Yes. Hi. >> You're Miss Johnson? Yes, I am. Okay. Um, I am just going to have you sign this. This is just showing that we have the it's 25,000 or 2500. I'm sorry. >> It was really weird. >> Okay. >> The denominations were very weird when we counted it. It was in bands of 600 and then there was one of 700. So, I don't know if that's normal for your counting. >> Check. Yeah. >> Yeah. You have a bag you want us to put it in or >> um >> think you're going to go right there right away. >> Great. Um, cuz Yeah, I'm going straight to the office. >> I don't think we'll get lunch. >> No, I got you. >> I I apologize. No, don't apologize. >> This incident with everything else is like >> when I interviewed him, he said that the TVA or the little machine thing had >> I it could be it could have been a number that he randomly just told me, but he said it was $4,962. >> Okay. >> And then I had asked, "Well, how much do you think you took?" And he's like, "I don't know. Each band is typically in >> So he's saying this is from the TVM." >> He No, he said that that's from the vault. He said that they were in he brought the TVM into the vault to count it and then as he was putting it away, he took money out to bring it to West Palm >> because they needed change. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> But then when I asked him how much he thought it was, he's like each band should be about a,000. >> In the end, Daario Zarita was charged with grand theft. When someone in charge of handling company cash abuses that access, repeated suspicious behavior can eventually expose the pattern. His position gave him access to the money, but it also left behind records and evidence that investigators could follow. Next, this woman made things even worse with a long list of charges piling up against her. >> They're saying that I used one of the credit card from work. >> Andrea, man, >> I didn't. >> That's why you got fired. On the 1st of December 2025, the owner of a gift shop at Living Desert Zoo went to the police station to report that an employee she had once trusted had used the company card information to pay for her personal expenses. But that wasn't all. Let's hear her statement. >> I have a girl that works for me since June. >> Okay. >> I trusted her 100% apparently from people that work in the same building with us said that uh they believe this happened with the help of her husband. She took that. Well, let me just put it this way. She copied the information off of my business credit card and paid a $1,200 water bill. >> Okay, let's go. >> People remember her calling in because they had incidents with her and the doctors. Okay. >> I said, I don't want her in history. I just want proof that she stole from me. >> Please, I'm not drama. I didn't even want to look at that. That scared me to have a water bill of $1,197. So, she paid a she paid this entire water bill. >> Yes, with my business credit card. >> Okay. Do you still have her as an employee? >> No, she didn't. She was supposed to come work today, but she didn't. I've left her three voice messages. >> Do not tell her anything about >> I'm not I'm not even calling her no more because on Wednesday I called and I said, "Hey, Andrea, I need to talk to you when I walk the bank." I said, "Could you give me a call?" Usually, she's right on it because she has them things in her ears and everything. Mhm. >> Then I called her an hour later and I said, "Okay, Andrea, the reason I need to talk to you is about the water bill. Could you please call me so we can set up a date to get my key back to my shop and give you your last paycheck?" That's all I said. >> For the suspect's actions, she could have been charged with embezzlement. But that was not the only offense. As the shop owner continued to reveal more of her wrongdoing, >> what is embezzlement? Embezzlement is when someone transfers something that they have been entrusted with to their personal use without permission. >> But I'm missing cash, too. But I can't prove it's her. >> So, I ain't going there. That was $420 in cash short. I cannot prove that she's the one who did it. That's a she You said >> that's actually our job is to prove it. Do you have any cameras there where the show Okay. >> No, it's the idea that she did it and she could do it to somebody else. I don't want it to happen to somebody else cuz she's good. She had my trust 100%. I was going to hand her my job. So, this ticks me off. And now I can't retire until the summer. My husband even cancels his retirement. He's the director of the zoo. Oh, those personally handled a different way. >> Okay. Don't do that. >> I'm not that way. So, here's >> When are y'all going to be talking to her? >> After reviewing the information and securing the evidence, police went to the woman's home on December 16 to hear her side of the story. need to speak to Miss Angelina. >> Miss Angelina? >> Yeah. Are you Are you her, Miss? >> What happened? >> Huh? >> What happened? >> Well, that's what I need to talk to her about. >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. So, um, do you guys have a second? You have a conversation? Okay. How's it going? So, um, I'm Officer Phil Holmes from Carl'sb PD. Uh, I'm the one that was um I'm the one that's doing the followup on the investigation with the credit card >> stuff. So, that's why I'm actually here to talk to you about and also the checking stuff that happened with um the checking stuff that happened with the city with the water. >> That was my account, but it's taken care of. >> Okay. Well, uh actually it's kind of not cuz we've kind of got a we've kind of got an issue with it. Okay. So, but before we go um any further into it, I'd like to um make sure that your rights are protected and everything. I'm going to read you um what's called Miranda. No matter what happens today, I'm not sitting up here trying to take you to jail today. Okay? That's not what's going on, but I do need to talk to you. That's fine. No, no, no. That's fine. >> Clearly, the shop owner had already texted her about the water bill, but when she spoke to the officer, she acted completely unaware. And it seemed that her family had no idea about what had happened either. wish to talk to us now without an attorney. >> So then what the hell did you do? >> They're saying that I used one of the credit card from work. >> Andrea, man, >> I didn't. >> That's why he got fired. >> I didn't get Can we discuss this? >> Go shut that closet so the cops won't get in there. >> Lady, man, >> they said you didn't find you did it. Okay. So, that's kind of um So, it's up to you. If you want to talk to us now, if you don't want to talk to us now, >> I'll talk. If I don't want to answer, then I'll >> Yeah. Then you can just tell me. Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, Okay. I am not coming to take to try and arrest you today or do anything like that. But I do have to follow up. Huh? >> Can I ask some questions? What? They They said she stole a credit card or something. >> Well, that's what we're about to get into. >> Yeah. I mean, >> right. I have to ask her. I have to ask her the questions about it. Now, as a courtesy, usually I don't let people do stuff like that, but you invited us into your home. As a courtesy, if she doesn't mind you asking any questions with it, I have no problem. >> This is like the second time she's done this and [ __ ] I want to know what's going on. >> So, even her family admitted that this was not the first time she had been involved in theft. Her face also began to tense up as she faced the consequences she may have caused. >> How much is it altogether? I for the credit card it's,00 and something and then for the checks it's uh each time counts by itself. Even though it may have been one bill that was cycling, each one checks by counts by itself. So it's 18 counts. There's like five or six that are 730 something and then there's a few that are like 840 something. So okay. Um, so that's what I'm trying to do is because I could have just gone and filed for an arrest warrant and did get this up, but I want to get your side of the story. I want to see what's going on to see what's happening. Right. Let's uh start with the with the credit card um cuz that that was actually used on your on your account um back in January. >> I had to stop and think what we're where we're at. >> Right. You want to talk to me about that? going to tell me what happened. >> I don't have when I was working there. I don't have that credit card. They use it. There's other employees there that use it. There's one that he's a maintenance guy. >> Mhm. >> And at the time she was out, the boss was out and he had had it cuz he come to get it and it wasn't in its place. And then they found it later on. I guess he had thrown it on his desk or in the drawer or something. I don't know. They come and said they found it that I didn't have to look for it anymore. >> Right. But so you're telling me the maintenance guy used the credit card for the Hercultural Society to pay your water bill for you? >> That's what you're telling me? >> I'm just saying I didn't have it. >> Okay. >> She [snorts] denied taking the company card, but what about having its number and information? Maybe it was the quickest evasive answer the woman could come up with. Because after a barrage of questions from the officer, she eventually had to admit everything. [snorts] >> Okay. Um, so what about um the electronic checks from August of 2025 up until November? >> Cash app. >> That's off cash app. >> Yeah, my cash app credit card. Did you have an account number? >> Okay. Um, but they all bounced. >> Yeah, cuz I when it started, I didn't they ran it and I didn't get my money switched over into the account. >> Okay. So again, I'm going to ask you to be truthful with me because remember I have the records, okay? Um and with those records, it shows that every time you got a bill that you did this cash app account, okay? And then that cash app account went and it was declined. Water stayed on and it did that every single time. every time there was a fee, it did the same the same time because those amounts match up because it was either the same day or the day after those bills came out. Okay. So again, was that you're doing that on purpose just to keep the water on? Are there issues? I mean, are we are you having financial issues or something that maybe it's a mitigating factor we could talk to the DA about? I mean, what's going on? What are we >> Yeah, just trying to get everything balanced out. Okay. >> I started that job in June, so trying to get balanced with my money and everything. >> Okay. >> Cuz I hadn't been working. >> Oh, okay. >> I had just got that job in June. >> Okay. >> So, trying to just get my brother works and everything, too. So, you know, we were trying to keep I was trying to keep everything my share of the >> In her confession, she brought up her difficult circumstances and by continuing to emphasize them, it seemed like she was trying to gain the officer's sympathy. >> What kind of health issues? >> My medication I take um I have a broken back. >> Okay. >> Um I have spinal stenosis. >> Okay. >> Hi disc. my knees. I'm fixing to get ready uh for a knee replacement. That's why I asked if I could sit down, >> right? No, that's fine. >> Um the medication I take is what helps me not be in pain, >> right? >> Well, I have Medicaid and and all that that pays for all my stuff. >> Okay. >> So, I'm on Medicaid. It pays for everything. I'm just waiting for my surgeon to >> Okay. do that. But >> so I would say after the arrest warrant cuz you could even turn like even if we do a warrant you guys can you can even come and turn yourself in and then whatever they do on the release side you can do that as well. When you do it that the best thing is when you talk to them is to tell them I want to make this right. This is not something that you know I I know I did it on purpose. This is what it, you know, it is what it is, but I want to make it right. Okay. So, every time that you go on the electronic thing and you use your cash app and you don't have the money in there, basically you're committing check fraud. Does that make sense? >> Yeah, it does. But then at the same time, it doesn't. You know what I'm saying? I mean, to me, it would be like insufficient funds in your account. But no, I I >> But if you do it on purpose purposely insufficient funds, it's like so it would be like me. So, say say I want I like old cars, right? So, say I want to buy the pickup truck from you, right? And I'm like, "Hey, I'll pay you. I'll I'll Vinmo you the money every month or whatever." So, I Vinmo it to you, right? But then I put I stop the payment on the Vinmo or I don't have the money in the Vinmo, right? Or I'm using a credit card, even if it's on autopay, I should know that that money is not there. In the end, Andrea was charged with one count of embezzlement, one count of theft of a credit card, and 18 counts of issuing worthless checks. But Andrea pleaded not guilty to all charges, and her jury trial was scheduled for November 20126. Taking money or using entrusted financial access for personal needs can quickly turn a financial struggle into multiple criminal charges, especially when the transactions are repeated and intentional. Next, this case became even more serious when the suspect was armed. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. >> Get on the ground. Your ass on the ground. >> Turn around. >> Anybody else in there? >> On the 16th of August 2025, police received a report of an armed robbery at a T-Mobile store. The suspects were believed to have fled afterward. Here's what happened as captured by the store's surveillance cameras. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get your ass on the ground. >> Hey, bro. I don't give a about these phones, bro. They all you. >> I mean, if they on me, then just just chill. Just relax. Yes, sir. >> That's all you got to do. I ain't coming to hurt you. >> Not coming to hurt you. >> How many people you got out here? >> This me and my What's this code? >> This tape right here? >> Yeah. >> Stay your down. Now, what else? What up? Where the money at? >> Huh? >> Do you Do you want me to get up? >> Where is it at? >> It's in the the drawer out front. >> How much How much would you normally be in there? >> 150. >> 150. Man, my Where the keys at? >> The keys are You see that big like uh poster behind that desk on the left? >> Uh-huh. >> It's behind there on the right in the corner. You'll find the keys. >> Come on. Don't try nothing. I'm going to fire your up. I'm not. >> As soon as they arrived at the scene, the situation was already tense. Officers had to proceed carefully, step by step, to make sure no suspects were still inside. >> Hold there, Brian. Coming out. Brian clearing here. One coming out. You guys are in first. >> Bathroom. Clear. have a dummy phone that they can track remotely. So >> So apparently the guy took a dummy phone that can be tracked. >> So >> after making sure no suspects were still inside and that the employee was safe, officers spoke with him to learn more about what had happened. >> I get here early every day and I just open up the store. Um I went to the back. We had a customer call in saying that they were coming in to get a iPhone. So, I'm putting all our packages away, checking our uh safe to see if we have the iPhone or things like that. So, I start the time delay, and when I start, every time I start the time delay, I uh tell my wife to start a 10-minute timer. Then, a customer came in. So, I started working with the customer. She was talking about um her internet's not working, her friend's internet's not working, but she wants to get a new phone. So, I'm trying to just work her through that. My my timer goes off. So, I go back to the safe because we don't open it in 5 minutes and we got to wait another 10 minutes to open it. I just go push the buttons and once I step in, you send me to get on. Where was he at? Right behind the door. Most likely has happened is when we leave >> Uhhuh. >> my coworker went to Giant Eagle. We put a board in the back door. We just go over there. >> Oh. >> So that's why I didn't never see nobody. That lady come in by herself. I didn't see nobody else. Okay. >> So how our store is set up, if you go through the back door, it's a lot of back ways and things like that. And then if you come out to the door that goes to the sales floor, the first thing you're going to see to your right is the office. So like I'm straight ahead talking to a customer. He could have just anybody else inside the store. I don't know if my my coworker came back or anything like that, but he is. >> He doesn't know if somebody else came inside the store. He doesn't know. >> Clearly based on the employees statement, the suspects appeared to have planned the robbery in advance. The employee also identified exactly which items had been stolen. Well, you know, I don't know if he took like the 14 masks out the state 14, >> right? >> Oh, like on the phone. >> Yeah. So, he took everything. He took a What did he pay? You know, >> we don't know yet. >> He had two like he dumped our our trash can and took everything like phones and all that or cash phones. He we took everything out the teal and so we only have 150 bucks in our teal and then he took all the phones off the safe and then we just I just opened my Honda side. >> Were you inside for any of those? >> No, I was dispatched >> like on break. >> Oh, okay. >> Got your ID. >> So, yeah. What he wanted me to tell you is that one of those phones that you may have, but it's not one of the phones that we actually sell. >> It's just a tracking device >> to track. How could they >> can you track track it? >> Okay. >> So, you said >> okay. >> Afterward, the employee walked officers through the entire incident once again, recounting everything that had happened. >> When you go over here, is she still here? >> Yes, she is. So when all of this is going out, she's just here the entire time. >> Well, that's what I'm thinking. Because when he has me come out and take this out, she's gone. Don't >> She was gone. >> Mhm. >> Do you think she heard what was happening? >> And he was in front of TV. >> Oh, cuz he wasn't allowed. He said, "Get on the floor. Get on the floor." And I'm just like >> like kind of lost. And then I get on the floor and other than that, he's just like, "Don't move. I'mma do the He's like He was calm. He wasn't >> yelling. He wasn't screaming. He didn't put his hands on me or nothing like that." When you came in here, where at exactly was he >> behind the door? >> Cuz I walked in, I was confused cuz why is this open when I'm just putting the code to be able to open it? So when we put in the code, the timer starts. When the timer's done, I put the code in again so it can open. >> You dump the trash out and put the the stuff inside the trash can. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. >> And he he had something else to put it in and he had me carry it to the back door. What was it? It was like a box or something like that. But I know >> cardboard box, plastic box. >> I think I think it was one of these. >> Okay. So he has you do all this here and then he walks you out. >> So he put everything in it. He brought everything to like the end of this table here and then like when he was actually leaving out, he had me carry everything to the back door where he left. >> He had me on the ground right here. as he was getting everything here. Then as he was getting everything out here after I told him to call, he just like stood over me. >> Okay. You remember what shoes you wear? >> Okay. >> I barely remember his shorts or >> Okay. In shorts. >> Yes. But I my uh district manager sent us a picture like just like from the >> Yeah. >> the cameras. >> Does it match the photo? Did you see the photo yet? >> Okay. Police then received a report from a nearby store that a suspect matching the description was hiding inside. Officers immediately moved in and took them into custody. >> Hands up. >> Put your hands up right now. Turn around. >> Anybody else in there? >> All right. Got cover. Don't move. There's >> somebody else in this whole camera. >> Radio one detained. >> All right. Yeah, we're not playing that. >> Where's the gun at? Stop. Do not move. I got cash. Yeah. right out to this car. I'm going ask you one more time. If you have a gun on you, you better tell me where it's at. >> No gun. I didn't even do nothing. I don't know what y'all got going on. >> Yeah. Well, hiding inside of a store like that, that don't make no sense, right? >> I mean, we need some barber. >> Yeah. No, not so much. This will go with us. We'll get it back done. >> That's slide your feet in. >> Good. As for the female suspect, she claimed she had not taken part in the robbery and had only driven the man. But officers were clearly not convinced by that excuse. You >> I mean, we can't cut the brakes on this. >> Man, you're not making it easy on yourself. >> How? >> By giving someone your car that rob someone at gunpoint. Someone got robbed at gunpoint >> at gunpoint. >> Someone got robbed at gunpoint. I said, I'm going to be honest with you. Someone got robbed at gunpoint. And that's why we're here. We're not like it wasn't a simple It wasn't like someone stole a cell phone. Someone got robbed a gum key. Someone's affected by this. They're not >> tell them. There's no choice on them. I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not going to trick you. >> You could be there for half hour or you can be there for 2 hours and go to our jail. I don't you're being to answer the question of what happened. So, >> okay. That's why I'm trying to be clear open. >> Yeah. Has it has evidence in so >> I I was with you. I I didn't take it. I don't know. >> Anthony was charged with aggravated robbery. Erica was charged with complicity to aggravated robbery and endangering children. Trying to distance yourself from a crime means little when your own story keeps changing. The first officer went back inside the store to obtain witness statements from the employees about what had happened. >> Can you go ahead and give me like a timeline [music] and uh he had a huge line. I walked over, there was a salad sitting there. I said, "Hey, what's this?" He said, "There's a lady. She doesn't really know what she's doing. I think she might be drunk." Then when I took it off, you have to remove the entire tender before you can take off the item. So, I did that. It put the money back on the card. And then when I took out the sandwich, she still owed the balance for the salad. So now she had to swipe her card again. Um, and it was $6.99. And then she swiped her card too fast and it didn't go through. So then I asked her one more time to swipe it again. And that's when she kind of started getting a rate. She told me that we were trying to steal $40 from her for a salad and kind of just like caused issues. At that point, Jesse tried to get her to go over to her or his register because I thought maybe my machine wasn't working or like it froze up. And then I let him handle it and I walked away. I was outside when they told me that there was a mess to come clean up and there was a bottle on the floor. So I missed that end interaction, but I was there for like her getting upset. >> The woman was charged with disorderly intoxication and criminal mischief causing less than $200 in damage.
