hi i'm lieutenant nathan shepard with the portland police bureau it'll come as no surprise to anyone that right now our city is grappling with the issue of stolen vehicles but in recent days officers have come to me with another trend that's very concerning and that is the number of stolen gun reports they're taking along with stolen vehicle reports you know more guns on the street more stolen guns on the street is not something that anyone wants so what i'm asking you to do is if you have the ability to store your gun elsewhere outside of your vehicle please do so and better yet if you can store it inside a gun safe with a gun lock that would be preferable so you know this is something small that we can do that might have a big impact especially on gun violence and stolen guns so thank you for listening and thank you for doing your part in keeping portland safe
