Looked right at the camera. >> You haven't followed my instructions, right? And you lied to me. >> I'm just so nervous. >> Multiple times. >> Some naive shoplifters believed no one would notice their shoplifting, but officers had already been watching through the cameras and soon made a surprising encounter. Whether the regret was real or not, it was already too late. Here are the times when police surprise stop a shoplifter after Walmart shoplifting spree. Every moment was recorded and we are This is Law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Starting with this woman and her belated regret. >> You're going to go to jail. >> Yeah. No, sir. >> [laughter] >> Well, you got to learn it you got to learn your lesson. Well, he says he's with her sister, so. >> On December 27th, officers received a report from a Walmart about a shoplifting incident that had occurred. The suspect was identified as a woman who secretly switched price tags on several items, and upon arriving at the scene, officers reviewed every action she took alongside the store's loss prevention staff. >> personnel. Do you already have the register pulled up or not? >> Yeah. So, whatever like rings up is a pair of leggings. That's >> Call it [snorts] that big toy or what? It's a Fisher-Price or something? She looked right at us. Looked right at the camera. >> It's in her the stickers are in there. >> That yellow one? >> Yeah. >> Grab Grab his leggings? >> Yeah, it came out as a girl's swimwear, but it's $4. >> They look like more than one item. >> It rang up to what two items. She took and switched that one, too. >> She switched that one? >> Yeah. It's uh you know those foreign cameras? >> Uh-huh. >> It came up as a kid nightmare. >> Uh that one right there is $24 or $28.96. That one right there. Yep. Yep. So, she's over Oh, she She didn't pay for that one either. She's going to jail. [music] >> Going to jail? >> Oh, yeah. It's going to be way over over $20. She's going to make us run? Nope. >> Nah, she's joking. >> At the very moment the woman believed she had successfully made it out of the store, she was stopped. >> So, it came up with this one. You didn't even scan this. And this one came up as girl's swimwear. This is $26. >> But I didn't switch it. >> Let's go inside the inside the office. >> I would have I'll pay for it. I mean See, you had already crossed the final point of sale. So, and I saw you. >> Go and have a seat over there on the bench. >> Wait a minute. I saw you. >> Have a seat on the bench right there. >> I promise you I didn't know. I can pay for it right now. I have the money. >> Go and put your hands behind your back. >> Okay, I have the money though, sir. >> Okay, I already gave you three commands. And you're not listening, right? >> I'm sorry about that, but I have the money on me. I didn't know. I saw you pull off the tag and you couldn't >> Okay, put your other hand behind your back. >> I know, but I can pay for it. I'm >> I get it, but you already passed the final point. >> But I can pay for >> I'm going to put this money in your front pocket, okay? >> pay for it though, sir. >> a seat. Sit down. >> Do you have your receipt on you? >> Yeah, I do. I have it in >> Based on the woman's reaction, she could not deny her actions. But the reason she gave for committing the wrongdoing was far more absurd. >> So, what's going on? Why Why are we stealing today? >> Cuz it was Christmas and I wanted to get my son something. >> Okay. Where's your Where's your son at right now? >> He was over there with my sister right now. >> She's with her sister. Okay. How old is your son? >> He's just one. It was his first Christmas, you know, and then I'm sorry. >> Are you working? >> No, not right now, but I'm going to be able to start school tomorrow and I just I was just trying to do something good because I felt so bad that I could pay for it. I was >> So, you committed a crime to do something good for somebody? >> I mean, it's not I wasn't trying to do it on purpose, you know, like >> Well, you did do it on purpose. >> sir. >> You just put tags on there when they weren't there. Okay. >> I was just trying to >> So, what what items did you not pay for? The jacket, is there anything else? >> No, I don't I didn't No, I didn't take anything else. It was the that little toy right there. >> There's more than that. >> I can't get my receipt. >> Where is it at? >> I'm pretty sure it's in my pocket. >> Can I pull it out of there? >> It's not in that one. It's not in that one, sir. >> Where's your ID at? >> I don't have it on me. >> You don't have an ID? How come you don't have an ID? >> Cuz it's in the car. >> Are you here with somebody in the car? >> No, I'm not. >> You're by yourself? >> I can get it for you. >> One by name and DOB? >> And I won't come back, sir. Like I promise. >> We'll get to that. We'll get to that. >> The woman offered excuses only to lessen the weight of her guilt, but in reality, she was still lying about several things, which the officers quickly discovered. >> How'd you get here right now? You drove? Where is your keys at? >> I don't have the keys. Well, I mean, I came with somebody. >> So, you're lying to me now? >> I'm not lying to you. Sir, I was just >> Cuz I asked you that earlier. And you lied to me. [music] >> What? >> That's how many times have you lied to me? >> nervous. >> I get it, but you How many times have you lied to me already? >> Twice. I guess cuz I'm nervous. I don't want to go to jail. I have to put my son >> Well, here's the thing. When somebody's Somebody Listen, let me say something, okay? When people aren't truthful, do they get breaks? They don't get breaks, right? You end up going to jail. That's why I'm asking you that. I'm giving you a chance. That's why I asked you again. And you initially lied again. And then Well, you're under arrest right now for shoplifting, okay? And you're going to go to jail. Well, you got to learn it you got to learn your lesson. Got to learn your lesson. Yeah. Okay. I'm going to tell you something Miss Garcia, when you lie to me No, you're not an informant. I'm not not asking you about stuff like that, all right? >> Her remorse seemed to have come far too late, and her desperate begging showed no sign of stopping as she even began dragging her family into it. >> Well, you'll be out tomorrow. Why not? Why won't you be out tomorrow? Well, you shouldn't be stealing. Here's the thing. At this At this Walmart Here, let me I'm going to tell you something, okay? At this Walmart, you steal, you're going to go to jail. That's what we get That's what we get paid to do. If you wanted to pay for it, you would have paid for it earlier. Please, sir, I'll pay for it. I can pay for it right now, all of it. I can pay for everything. It doesn't work that way. It's like if if somebody somebody and they said, "Well, I don't want I didn't I'll let him live." no, it doesn't work that way. You passed when you passed the point of sales, that's those like scanner bars right there. You don't have to. All you got to do is pass right there. >> In reality, not a single tear was shed. At that moment, the officer bluntly laid out the outcome she was about to face. >> Well, here's the thing. You are going to go to jail, okay? Well, listen. If Here's the thing. Listen. If you stop all the drama, >> [laughter] >> Yeah, that's not going to happen. Well, you said she's with her sister, so Okay, do you want to call her? You probably have it in your phone. What's wrong with it? So, this isn't your phone or what? Okay. Well, there's three items. The jacket for $25.98, a Fisher-Price that push toy is $28.96, and then you have an Insta camera, it's pretty expensive. 9248 that instant camera. >> But I can pay for it. >> That totaled out to 147.42. So >> for it sir. >> But even at this point, the woman still had not realized the seriousness of her actions and she even continued to believe she had done nothing wrong despite the explanations. >> I will pay for it sir. I will pay >> Well, you can go to some other place and buy that stuff. >> Please >> But you're not going to buy it from here right now. >> son. >> work that way. Here's the thing, when you steal from Walmart, they don't let you pay for the stuff. Who doesn't work that way? >> didn't take it. I didn't walk out the doors. >> You don't have to walk out those doors. The minute you pass those scanners >> But I didn't leave the premises. >> Okay, get an attorney and tell the attorney that. You're I'm telling you that you don't have to go out the front doors. You don't have to. Once you pass the points of sale, which is over there and right here, that's it. Listen, uh what did I already tell you? You're trying to give me all these excuses and no and and that's BS, all right? Yeah, you I doubt it. >> You doubt it? I have >> What's her number? What's her address? Where's your son at? >> He I don't know the address. He's 39. >> that is a lie. So you're So she must be able to take care of him then. >> She's 30 something. She's 39. Her name is Victoria Bedago, my my my son. >> So you don't know where your son's at right now. [snorts] >> I do know where he's at. I just can't tell you the exact street cuz I don't know my streets by memory, but I can tell you where he's at. He's at >> I've never known >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Breaking the law to justify a good intention only leads to worse consequences because once trust is lost and the crime is committed, regret and excuses cannot change the outcome. Next, this shoplifting couple did not even bother to think about the consequences of what they were doing. >> This is mine. >> That's yours. This is not from Walmart? >> It's from uh Walmart. >> So, how how'd they come undone? If they >> I opened them cuz I was going to see if they fit the phone. >> When did you open them? >> On the 1st of March, 2025, police received a call from Walmart reporting that a theft had occurred and the suspects were believed to be a man and a woman who had intentionally failed to pay for several items. As soon as officers arrived at the scene, this was what happened next. >> Hey guys, stop right here, okay? Let's walk back inside. Let's walk back inside, okay? Walk right back inside. You guys can just wait. Give us 15 and we'll be out with you. We just got to verify something, okay? We're going to walk over here to the corner. Did your card decline or something? >> No. We paid cash. >> You guys paid cash? Okay. Just stay right Stay right here, okay? >> I believe the receipt is in there. >> Okay. Do you have any weapons on you? >> No. >> Okay. Can I just make sure you don't have any weapons on you? Here's the receipt. I'll take this. Or she'll be able to turn around. What do you got in here? >> Do you mind if I look? Don't reach. You want to grab your >> Charge it. Don't reach. >> All right. You got your wallet on you or anything? >> Yep. >> All right. Can I have your ID? Can you hold that for me? Where are you guys from? Around here? >> I'm from Oconomowoc. >> Let's go to the LP office, okay? I'll I'll I'll take the cart. >> Okay. >> At this moment, the two suspects were temporarily separated for questioning. The woman quickly began to show several suspicious signs coming from the items inside her purse. Devon, is there any like contra- or anything from the store in your purse here? Do you mind if I just check? Don't reach. Don't reach. Do you mind if I check? >> I was going to say, yeah, do you mind? I was going to say >> Do you want to Can you just show me that there's nothing from >> I was going to say, there's literally nothing in here. >> Why Why can't I check the rest of this purse? >> Cuz I mean, I just don't see the really need necessarily >> to make I want If you're saying you didn't steal anything, the only way for me to prove that >> This is This is there. >> This is This is there? >> Yeah, but that's about That's it. >> Okay, I need to verify there's nothing else in there that belongs to the store. So, I need to search this purse. That's what I'm saying. >> No, I'm telling you like I've I'll give you everything that's in there. >> Okay, can you show me? >> Yeah, I'm going to say here's this. I'm giving you >> This is from there, too? >> Yeah, but that's That's it. This is mine. >> Why was this in your purse? >> I had it in my hand with my wallet. >> Okay, did you pay for this? Okay. >> So, other than that, like I'm telling you everything else that's in here is mine. >> All right, can you start pulling stuff out and putting them on here then if you're saying there's nothing else in there? >> I'm saying my bag. See this. This is mine. >> Are you sure this is not from Walmart? >> It's from our Walmart, but it's the one in Waukegan. >> Did you pay for it? >> In Waukegan, yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay, here's this. So, everything else is like basically or cigarettes or vapes or vapes, keys and then I'm going to tell you what I bought here. >> There were indeed a few items from Walmart, but it seems she already had excuses ready for them. >> the Waukegan Walmart yesterday with with a buddy. >> Okay. >> Same guy. >> When you purchased this, do you have a receipt from this? >> Uh he should have the receipt cuz he checked out >> Stop reaching in your purse. Take this out. I I'm not going to look into it, but stop reaching for it. Just put this up. Just put it on the ground. >> Okay, I was going to say, I promise you >> Ma'am. >> I know. I'm just saying. You think they sell the same thing at Walmart? I got it at the Walmart Lock In and I got the SIM card thing at the Walmart Lock In. >> Okay, how much did you pay for this? >> That was like $59. >> 59? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. So, walk me through what happened today. Who put what in the cart? >> Everything So, everything that got put in the cart was I had a basket that had my stuff in it and when the basket started getting over full, he put the basket in the cart. >> Like the handheld basket? >> Yeah, like the handheld basket. He dumped it in the cart. >> All right. And then, did you Who paid for what? Who paid for what? >> We paid for it to get back together. So, like I scanned all the >> Okay. >> And then my was $62 or something like that and then he scanned all the rest of his stuff. >> The woman tried to shift the suspicion onto the man, claiming he was the one who should be suspected, but she had no idea that the police already knew everything. All right, ma'am. Be honest with me cuz they have cameras on each of those self-checkout registers. When we watch the video footage, am I going to see you skip scanning any product, anything? >> I Like I said, I everything I scanned I put on there and if I didn't want it, I told him to take it off and I handed it to back. >> To which guy? >> The The one that was standing >> Yeah, the worker. >> Okay. And then, how did these end up in your purse? >> I was literally walking with my wallet like this. So, like I had it like this. >> No, don't grab it. >> I'm not I'm just saying like if I had it like this, I was walking like that. >> And you put these in your purse and walked out. >> all of this like that. >> Why did Why did you put >> the makeup The makeup aisle. >> Okay. >> I wasn't even like Yeah, I couldn't even feel it when I'm like sitting like this. >> Okay. >> You can't feel it but I was just saying that's like $5 or $6. >> Did you put it this stuff in your purse with that stuff right after you picked it up the off the aisle or when you were walking out? >> When I was walking in the aisle. >> In the aisle? Okay. >> I'm pretty sure. >> Okay. >> The woman realized she had failed to gain the officer's trust and she even provided several details in an attempt to place all the blame on the man. >> What's that? >> If you go to tower right now >> Yeah. >> I guarantee you the package for that cord he was talking about in there. >> And is the cord he was concealing in your guys' cart? >> Uh-huh. I guarantee it because he threw something out of the tower earlier. He was like, "Oh, I don't want this anymore." And it looked like a box. >> So, you saw him conceal it? >> I didn't think it was a kid. I thought he just threw the box back and was like, "I don't want this anymore." and threw it on the top and then he left. >> So, where did you Where did you get this from? >> Waukegan. >> Waukegan? How about this? >> Waukegan also. >> Okay. And those two things that you gave to me earlier, you said you took it What else did you take? Cuz Walmart's saying that you skip scanned. They're pulling it up right now. They're saying you skip scanned. >> What did I skip scan? >> That's what we're getting all the information now. I mean, at minimum you took those two things. Not a big deal, but we got to go through all that stuff. So, hang out here with Officer Wolford and I'll I'll be right back. Turning to the man, he openly admitted that there had been theft, but his attitude was what truly stood out there was not the slightest sign of remorse. Okay, who took what and what exactly happened? >> Just the phone chargers, but I thought they were going to be they were already paid for. So, that I was not buying this mistake. As everything else in the cart, I was just the guy. I was just standing there. >> The phone chargers? >> Yeah. >> The packaged phone chargers or unpackaged one? >> The packaged ones. The ones that were in there. The blue ones? >> Yeah. >> I think that's what I checked. >> Okay. So, how how did they come unloose? If they >> I opened them because I was going to see if they fit the phone. >> When did you open them? >> In the store. But I had thought she was going to take care of paying them. >> Okay. That doesn't really make sense to me if you're going to pay for Where's the Where's the package? If you un- >> I just threw it cuz I was lazy. I didn't want to throw it away. >> It was I just put it on the shelf, but I thought she had another one so we could scan it, too. >> How do you think the store was going to figure out how [snorts] much these were if you didn't have the package? >> Cuz I was going to I had thought that I had another box in here. >> Okay. So, you're telling me you took off the package. Where did you hold these? Where were these at? >> They were in my pocket. I was checking them on my phone. >> Okay. Do you see how this looks looks to us? >> Yeah, I know. I'm paying for it. I I will pay for anything that >> Why why did you put this Why did you put this in your in your pocket here? >> Cuz I thought it was already paid for. >> At what point did you put it in your pocket? >> When I was walking in the store cuz I thought >> The man claimed that those items had already been paid for while he was still walking around the store. This confidence came from the fact that he had also begun shifting the responsibility onto the woman. >> So, who picked up these from the shelves? When they were boxed? >> I did. >> You did? >> Yeah. >> Okay. And then you said you unpackaged both of them? >> Yeah, and then I thought I threw the box in the in the cart. >> Okay. And you put the other box on the shelf somewhere. >> But I thought I threw one in the cart just >> And then these ended up inside your sweatshirt. >> Yeah. >> Correct? Okay. And you're claiming you thought she was going to pay for them. >> Yeah, cuz like I said, I don't want to do that. I come in here and shop a lot, too, and I know that I don't steal. >> Okay. Okay. And this is all the stuff that isn't not paid [clears throat] for. Okay. Who submitted payment into these into the self-checkout? >> She did. I just gave her I gave her 80 bucks for a Walmart spring. >> Okay. You gave her $88 in cash? >> Yeah, cuz it was 80 and then she put her cash in and then it was still like seven something or 863 left. Yeah, we talked to actually >> You guys both came into the store together. You're telling me you concealed these in your I know you're saying you just did you wanted to pay, but you concealed these in your jacket. >> Mhm. >> Walmart has video footage and they're showing us that $91.86 worth of stuff was not paid for. Okay. So, at this time you both are going to be placed under arrest for retail theft. We're going to go back to the police department, do some processing, and we'll figure it out from there, okay? >> Finally, they were charged with retail theft. This woman's attempt to shift the blame and the man's careless attitude only made their situation worse, proving that dishonesty and trying to escape responsibility will eventually lead to greater consequences. Next, the tears of this woman were no less fake. >> Right here? >> Yep. >> This thing? But she never pays for any of this. When she gets to turn >> On the 28th of September, 2024, police were dispatched to Walmart's loss prevention office after receiving a report that they had detained a woman for shoplifting. At that moment, the woman appeared extremely panicked and struggled to cooperate. >> Aki. Nope. Can you tell her to stop? >> [laughter] [laughter] >> Do you mind writing her name for me? I don't know how to translate that. I got you. Hey, hey, Aki. >> [laughter] >> Tell her if she doesn't give me her name, she's going to go to jail. What? >> The name and stuff. >> Do you have it? >> No. >> Oh, okay. >> [laughter] >> She tells me her name is not that. >> But she But she has to give >> [laughter] >> Can you get her date of birth, too? Her birthday, whatever. >> [laughter] >> Since the woman's mental state was not stable enough to clarify everything, the police first listened to the store's side, and it could be said that the camera evidence was already sufficient. >> Let me get this right. So, she went up to register one. >> That's why I started watching her. >> Okay, so she ticket swapped or ticket swapped the jackets. She turned over the jackets. >> Correct. >> Did she leave and come back? >> just went back into to shop. But she goes into the to the fitting area to the fitting room. And mind you, I can't go in there and I don't have any cameras in there, but she comes out with stuff that's ticket swapped. So, go figure on which one it was. >> Hey brother, you mind just standing next to the door? Just >> [laughter] >> So, this and this and that never get scanned. >> Okay. >> And so, I was going to stop her over that anyway because she just bagged it. She never scanned it. There's only two things on that receipt and I don't have the original >> Okay. Yeah, I just need to see how much it's going to be real quick. >> Absolutely. >> The woman spoke entirely in Spanish, which seemed like it would create difficulties for the police, but with assistance from Walmart employees, the officers quickly managed to communicate with her. >> I guess you're going to be translating for me real quick. Um Can you ask her why she ticket changed and then went back >> to do it a second time? >> Yeah. >> You got to uh Okay. Uh okay, ma'am. That's all? Yes, that was all. Okay, so yeah, she paid for two of them, which we know that, but uh Um Yeah, she paid for one. Paid for one and then she also paid for these two. >> She Right, she paid for three things. >> These three. >> But that's off of the separate That's off of the one that was at the beginning. >> Before you're ready to go, let me come back. >> Does she have all the trainers here that she didn't scan? >> One was a sweater, one was a pair of pants, two shirts or three shirts. >> That's what she has. >> Although the woman initially appeared remorseful after being caught, she did not truly see her actions as wrong because she even believes she could change the outcome by making some kind of request. >> Ma'am, I said Hold on a second. >> She has no problem paying, but >> She should have done it >> It's too late. >> have done it in the beginning. >> Yeah, it's too late now. >> No, that's what I got I got a female officer coming to search her, so >> It's going to be just a minute. It will be just a minute. >> What time did she originally the first time? >> The first time? >> Just want to make sure I get all of this. >> 1:30. I believe it was maybe a little before 1:30. But that's when I That's why we started watching her. >> Got you. >> So, in all honesty, I was kind of hoping she was just going to go on about herself. >> Yeah. >> So, it was at 1:30 when the transaction was suspended. >> Okay. >> Um and then on register 38, it starts at 14:17. >> Okay. So, that's the second time. >> 383 >> With her stealing twice, it was clear that her tears were completely fake. And in addition, the employee also provided more details about her arrogant behavior during the first theft. >> It seems odd that you would do it after being caught the first time. And then to push out cuz like the other thing that she had was a three-drawer container. >> Yeah. >> And that was So, that was in this video right here. >> Yep. >> This thing. But she never pays for any of this. When she gets to turn, she leaves it. But she comes back for it, gets the buggy, puts her stuff, and puts it in front of over here in front of the nail salon. So, I don't know if there's somebody in the nail salon or what it is, but it was sitting by the nail salon. So, when she went to go out, I was waiting on her to go out with just what I was stopping her with. But then she pushes the buggy out and I knew she didn't pay for that. >> So, that's not part of it. >> That is part of yours. That is part of yours. That's that Sterilite. >> Got you. Okay. >> So, >> Okay. Well, we'll to for her to get here and then I'll get out of your hair. >> You're fine. 43 to 29. Let me know when you get here. >> Brenda, if she touches you, I'm going to knock her out. >> I already told her don't touch me. >> Your arms are too big for people to touch. >> Okay. I'm not even You're just trying to hide the gun. >> [laughter] >> What was that that you said to Sergio? I love you. >> At that moment, the police decided to handcuff the woman and of course her crying act returned once [music] again. >> Can you start to turn around for me? >> [laughter] [laughter] >> Sergio, spread your feet. 10-4, 10-95. If he's still here. >> He's not here. So, it's it'll go with her. >> [laughter] >> You got everything you need from me? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. >> She was charged with shoplifting. Stealing once was already a mistake, but choosing to return and do it again only destroyed any chance of sympathy. When someone keeps pushing their luck after being warned, the consequences become unavoidable. Next, let's move on to a dramatic robbery case that unfolded with intense moments. >> Roll over. >> I can't. [screaming] >> Roll over now. Good job, buddy. Good boy. >> All right, I'm going to pull these down just so we can take a look, okay? >> Is it any easier to stand up or not? >> It might be easier or anything. >> On the 29th of December, 2025, police received a report from a USPS postal worker who had been robbed of his keys and mail bag. The suspect allegedly fled in a stolen gray SUV. At that moment, a tense police pursuit began. >> Eastbound 94 Dickens, eastbound. >> 100 and approve the pursuit. >> Foot bail, foot bail, foot bail. >> The suspect believed that jumping out of the vehicle and fleeing on foot would allow him to maneuver more easily and escape, but it seemed the police already had plans for that. >> That's trash trash trash trash trash trash. Dog, release. Dog, release. Dog caught him. Dog caught him. It's the Soc. It's the Soc out. Soc out and 160. Put your hands out. Put your hands out. Lay on your belly. Lay on your belly. [screaming] Lay on your [ __ ] belly. Get on your [ __ ] belly. Get on your belly. Get on your [ __ ] belly. Get the [ __ ] over. Get the [ __ ] over. Roll over now. Roll over. >> [screaming] >> Roll over now. Good job, buddy. Good job. Hold his arm. Hold his arm. >> [screaming] >> Let go of the dog. Let go of the [ __ ] dog. Put your [ __ ] hands off. Put your hands off. Let me fight. Stop fighting. You're going Hey, somebody secure the vehicle. It's going to be just the deal. I got the driver. You got it? You're an idiot. You're a [ __ ] idiot. I'm glad you got your bread. Robbing [ __ ] He denied his actions, yet it was strange that he had been fleeing with a hood over his head. Shortly after he was also taken to the medical unit to proceed with the next procedures. >> Are you the person I would ask if the dog is up to date on all his vaccinations? Okay, all good. All right. Are you stepping in all the blood? Go ahead and pull that for me then. >> He only bit you once? >> Yeah. >> All right. Where did he get you at? >> Right here. >> All right. I'm going to pull these down just so we can take a look, okay? >> Is it easier to stand up or no? >> It might be easier right here. >> Is it >> Can I assist you getting up? >> your pants are going to get torqued. >> Right here. Okay. Just might touch here. Just checking this out, okay? >> Those look pretty superficial. I don't think there's any concern that like there's any So, you know, with dog bites, things you got to worry about is making sure there's like, you know, little teeth left or anything like that. But, that's usually just with like a big deep puncture wound. >> I've read you your your Miranda warning. I'm going to just make this quick so we can get you processed and get you to jail. When you guys were at McDonald's, you see me pull in cuz you guys dipped out, right? >> Mhm. >> Is that what happened? You seen the my my marked sheriff cruiser. >> Mhm. >> So, you pulled out and went around the back of McDonald's. You [clears throat] saw my overhead lights, heard my overhead sirens. >> Mhm. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Why come you didn't stop? >> Childish and I wasn't thinking. >> It's all right. I mean, we all make mistakes, man. I was a a young young kid at one time. It is what it is. It is what it is. >> He claimed he did it out of childish thinking. But, remember that he had jumped out of the car and fled despite the danger. And the officer also pointed this detail out. >> When you got out on foot and I followed you in the car, you did a button hook in the firehouse. You still had multiple opportunities to say, "You know what? I don't want to do this no more." >> I I I was >> But, you didn't. >> I wanted to. I wanted to, but when the dog got out, that's when >> Yeah, but you you made that button hook and then took off. You were already down 116 when I got the dog out. So, when did you see me get the dog out? >> Uh like when I was turning around like >> Yeah. Did you try to get in any of those vehicles that were >> Oh, no. >> Cuz when I got to you, you were on top of the side of the road. >> I tried to hop on top of the car from the dog. >> And what? He got he he he he grabbed you before you can get up there or he got up on the car with you? >> No, he grabbed me before I could even touch the car. I tried to hop on it like I was >> So, as you were about to get up there, your leg was up there about to get up there and >> He grabbed me like this and he grabbed me. >> Yeah. >> Snatched me right down. >> And then you went straight down to the ground or you tried to get back on the car again? >> No, I tried to get back up. >> You see you were on the ground the whole time when he got >> He pulled me down, man. >> Yeah. That's what they're supposed to do, right? No no hard feelings. Uh he's he's pretty sharp when it comes to that stuff. But, um as far as you weren't trying to get in the car, you were just trying to get on top of it. So >> right now you're going to get booked. Uh it's up in the air on on how, but uh right now it's a a federal hold on you at this time. So for what then the gentleman's here that talked to you prior before I came in and talked to you, they're going to be presenting this to AUSA, which is the federal district attorney. So you have state, which is me, which is state charges, >> [cough] >> which is pretty big deal, but then you have federal charges, which is like prison, like like OG triple OG prison time stuff. That's who they're with. >> He was charged with aggravated robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, eluding an officer, and obstructing justice. His reckless attempt to escape only turned a bad decision into a far worse outcome, proving that running. But don't leave just yet. This woman had even lied about her own family. >> I L L S. Suzanne's my sister. >> What's your name? >> Sally. >> Sally, so you lied to me. When I asked you your name, you said Suzanne. >> I don't understand why you >> Why you think I'm calling you Suzanne? I don't know your sister's name. >> On November 21st, 2024, officers received a call from a bank reporting a woman attempting to withdraw money from an account that was suspected not to be under her name. When officers arrived at the scene, the woman was leaving after failing in the attempt, prompting officers to quickly stop her. >> No, no, no, no, no, no. >> What's going on? >> Nothing. >> What's going on? >> trying to make a withdrawal, but they won't let me. >> Okay, is it your license you're trying to use or somebody else's? >> No, I mean mine's. They got it. They got it. Okay. >> All right, let's go ahead and check it out. Are you by yourself? >> Yeah, yeah, I am. >> You got a car or what? >> We're taking Uber to my daughter's house. >> Okay. So you you have that license is good or is it fake? >> No, it's good. I just got it redone because it expired and I got to renew it. >> Whose account were you trying to get money out of? >> Mine. >> Your account? >> Mine and Stanley's, yeah. >> We just called the client. They're saying they don't know you. They're real >> That's that's impossible. >> The client is saying they don't know you. We just called the client. Okay. >> I'm going to call Suzanne. >> So whose idea is this? >> That is Suzanne Pierce. >> Okay. What's your name? >> Pierce. >> Okay, well they're saying they closed her account. The client, the actual client of the bank account that you're trying to get money out of. >> You can talk to them because I'm that. I'm that person. How could that possibly be? >> Because you're trying to draw money out of account that is that appears fraudulent. So they called the actual owner of the account and they account Well that's that's that's strange. >> The woman insisted she was the true owner of the account and made no effort to question who the person was that the bank had contacted. Suspicion only grew when she even tried to quietly slip away. >> I didn't even do anything so I'm sure I'm free to go. >> No you're not. Why not? Because we're investigating because we're investigating a crime. You're not free to go. >> do anything. >> You're you're being detained if you want those exact words. You're not you're not free to go. >> I lost my ID and I got it redone. >> Okay. Because they're on the phone with the actual owner of the account you're trying to draw money out. >> are they doing that if I'm the owner of the account? How is that possible? >> Well see, how why should we let her walk away without giving her ID? >> Because I don't want to be hassled. That's why. And I will come back again. >> I won't leave my ID. Yeah, no. Can you No, don't call anybody or anything? >> I'm not going to call anybody. >> Can I see your purse or your phone or something? Just leave your purse right here. >> No, I have to I have >> Okay, you're not going to call anybody? That's what I'm saying. All right, come outside with me. Come outside. >> Here, give me >> Obviously you're doing something wrong. Come out here. >> I'm not doing anything. >> Okay, well we're obviously not here for no reason. So like I said, they're on the phone with the actual bank account owner. So you want to hang out with this officer real quick. >> a few days ago and came down here so I don't know how you got I was here the other day as well. So obviously >> Well let me let me let me run this license real quick see if it's legit or if >> Right after that, officers approached the bank employee to confirm the victim behind the account. >> So what's going on with it? >> I just wanted to I told her that I have 100% identified the client that she's claiming and that's not definitely I mean I I just wanted to verify so >> Yes, she is. >> She said that my assistant she also said that she she wasn't sure if she she's a little bit older than her but she also said that she's been getting calls to her home phone number all day. Like these calls and all that. and weird stuff that she didn't know about that phone. >> She didn't know it? >> Yeah, and the driver's license on my system is exactly the same number. So, that's an actual duplicate of some sort. Cuz that's the information I have. I just have The one I have is expired and that one's not. But, it's the same number and the same and she knew the home phone number which I think is >> So, she's saying it might be her sister? >> Well, she initially said she thought it would be my sister and I said, "That was your sister? Did your sister smoke?" She goes, "Definitely a smoker." She goes, "No, definitely not my sister." I said, "All right, then. Well, then she's small." And I said, "Someone has your exact license number. They got >> I think that she made these fake. >> Yeah, yeah. I mean, you can tell cuz they're printed They printed Land of Lincoln over it. >> It's supposed to have like these little grain, you know, different wave like >> So, I did verify the time. It was absolutely not. >> Okay. We're probably going to want to need to talk to her for a minute. >> Can you take that out of your ear, please? Put it in your purse. Anything in the purse I should know about? Any narcotics, firearms, anything like that? >> No. >> All right. Just don't reach in there anymore, okay? You here with anyone? Are you here with anyone? >> No. I just got dropped off. >> What car is yours? Oh, you got dropped off? >> Yeah, my car is in the driveway. >> He's here in the driveway? >> ran. He left. >> He's coming back? >> He dropped it. He's coming back. >> When's he coming back? >> He's probably coming back right about now. >> Okay. >> I mean, it doesn't take long to bang and I like it told to call my cell. >> How come he didn't How come he didn't wait? >> How come he didn't wait? >> Yeah, cuz he had a wrong make payment also cuz my zip code >> At this point, officers approached her with the suspicion that the victim might be someone she knew, but her attitude only made the situation more tense. >> Do you have a sister? >> I have I have a sister, yes. >> What's her name? >> Why? >> Huh? >> Why? >> Because we're investigating a crime. Are you trying to draw money out of your sister's account? Your sister's saying the owner of the account saying it might be your sister. Just don't be stupid. Like, come on. We're not here for no reason. We know what we we know the answers to the questions that we're asking. That's why we ask. You trying to draw money out of your sister's account? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay. Yeah, we We had an argument a couple weeks ago. She said it would be She did give me permission and now she's changed her mind. >> So, the answer's no. You don't have permission. >> It's all on God. It is her sister. >> Okay. So, she said her sister gave her permission to draw money out of her account. >> Really? >> I'm guessing not. >> I'm thinking not. >> I'm guessing not. >> How do you know her sister? >> I asked her cuz she was being difficult. >> Right. What makes you She She said >> Well, I said do you have a sister? Because >> Why would she going to say that? It doesn't mean >> No, I know, but >> I thought it did. >> You just told me she changed her mind, so that would indicate >> She did, but we were in an argument >> So, that would indicate That would indicate that >> If we're yelling at each other and saying, "Yeah, I'm never going to talk to you again. Don't loan me money." >> That's a little different. That's a little different than taking money out of an account, right? >> No, the whole the whole thing she was like, "I'm not going to talk to you." She said, "I'm not loaning you money anymore." And then the next next thing I know I'm talking to her like we're friends. >> So, I talked to my brother. >> It was hard to believe the woman's story because moments later she only made herself more suspicious after revealing conflicting information about her own identity. >> Okay, what state? >> I didn't bring it with me. >> What state? >> Illinois. >> Okay, spell your last name, please. >> M I L O S. Suzanne's my sister. >> What's your name? >> Sally. >> Sally, so you lied to me. When I asked you your name, you said Suzanne. >> No, I got confused. >> Why do you think I'm calling you Suzanne? I don't know your sister's name. You just told me your name was Suzanne. You are a liar. >> Oh, I know. >> You are Well, that's a liar. That's what a liar would say. Sally, is it? I've >> never said >> My name's Cody. >> You see we had the ID that came out. >> have just known his name. What's your date of birth? And don't lie to me. What's your date of birth? >> July I don't remember. I think maybe >> Think it was what? Who really knows? That was so long ago. >> When I I I don't even know what day my daughter >> So, what's on your ID? Suzanne? I'm sorry. >> L O S. >> Sally Henrietta Mills? >> Yeah. >> And Suzanne is your sister? >> Yeah, Suzanne Pierce. >> Okay, I have a lot more time in my shift, so if I find out you're lying more, you and I are going to take a trip down to West Palm Beach. You ever been there? You know what's down there? It's called Gun Club. It's called County Jail. >> I have been to Palm Beach, so she said I should go there. >> You lie to me again, we're going to go. >> I'm not allowed to go there. I am on medication. >> 100% allowed to go to jail. They have nursing staff down there just for that. You stand by with this officer, okay? >> If I tell you everything, you're not arresting me. >> Maybe you can go back to the spot that I had you stand on. Thank you. Say Say you want to say, I'm all ears. >> I've seen this guy and he got me in bed for an hour and still doing it. >> What state you say you're from? >> The real me, I'm from Florida. I'll tell you everything. >> Please do. First name? >> Laura, l a u >> Do you have a driver's license? >> Yeah. >> You want to 15 or you want >> Uh, 11:20. >> Okay. >> The truth was gradually coming to light, yet even after being exposed, she showed no sign of remorse. >> Oh, this is >> But you can admit that it's kind of weird, right? >> It is. >> Okay. Come back to your spot, please. >> Yeah, so she doesn't the owner of the bank account doesn't even have a TD Bank account, so >> What's your >> This is Laura Ann Wallace. >> Laura Ann Wallace has lied to us about everything except she finally came clear on who she is. >> What happened? >> Laura Ann Wallace tried to withdraw $4,000 out of this bank account that she doesn't know the person. >> This is fake. >> And the lady I talked to the bank account owner, she doesn't know her. Obviously, she has a sister, but her sister's in Illinois >> not down here. I don't know whose this is, but I was just around the corner, so I'll take it if I need I'll I'll take it if I need to. I don't care. But I was right there, They Well, I just came I just literally came right back out, so >> I was explaining to him that I know, I I felt a little pressure from you guys. And I know that sounds weird, but I I talked to my daughter before. >> Oh, well, who Are you by yourself? Are you by yourself or is somebody with you? >> No, I >> Yeah. Did he Did he leave when he saw me pulling? >> She was on the phone with somebody. >> Yeah, he probably left when he saw me pulling. >> I wasn't trying to call anybody. He was still on the line. >> This is a common thing that we deal with all the time, so >> I really honestly was going to say that this day is blessed. >> Why is that? Come on, We're just trying to pressure you into doing this. >> It didn't sound like really pressure. >> You just said you felt >> a couple of guys. Yeah, it did. >> So you felt pressure >> What do you mean? If you were to ask them, they would have a problem. But it is kind of like, come on, and you know, and >> You're an adult. >> I know, and I have a problem with that. Uh, the issue is that you talked to my daughter about that and my son. >> Sounds like you're hanging out with the wrong people. >> Yeah. >> Cuz now you're going to go to jail for something that they want you to do. >> So how does that work? I mean >> We put handcuffs on you. >> I know. >> She was charged with resisting without violence, possession of a fake driver's license, and counterfeit fraud. Her actions showed how quickly lies and deception could unravel, turning a failed attempt at fraud into multiple criminal charges and a one-way trip to jail. Next, let's move on to another fraud case. >> I don't have my company, but I I don't know if that was illegal. >> Probably he went to from a different location. That's what they do. They go to different locations and >> I don't know. Can you Do you know what >> On November 6th, 2024, deputies were dispatched to a TD Bank branch after receiving a report of a check fraud at the location. When they approached, the suspect standing behind appeared extremely suspicious as he attempted to slip away. >> I'm innocent. I'm sorry. I ain't lying. I'm trying to say Let me talk to you over here. You have anything in your Nothing. Um Let me just check. Check everything. >> No, I'm not comfortable. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> I'm not comfortable. >> I ain't taking no charge. >> I ain't taking no >> I'm not comfortable. >> Okay, which one Which one you want to >> I just want to talk to you. >> Yeah, one dollar is what >> But we have to make sure you don't have anything on you before we talk. >> I know. I'm innocent. >> Okay. >> I'm sorry. I just want to talk to you. >> Um >> Let me check just for a second. Let me just check you. Let me just put you down here just for a second. Is this wallet? I just want to put it down here just for a second. >> Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. >> Yeah. What happened? >> Okay, you're not being arrested. You should be happy. >> I didn't do anything for a posture. But what I do? >> We're going to explain here. >> Yeah. >> We're just going >> Talk about it. >> What is going >> I'll tell you in a second, sir. >> Wait. Wait. Wait. >> I'm going to find out we have what's going on here. Yeah, you didn't do anything wrong. >> But why do you want to arrest me? I don't understand. >> Do you have a check on you right now? >> Thank you. I get doing my checks. >> There's a complaint we have that the check the check you have there's an issue right now. Okay? >> Thank you, but I mean that's not my issue. >> He denied being involved in the incident, but his fearful face clearly revealed his anxiety. Under pressure from the deputies, he eventually gave information about the check. >> This check right here, tell me where this check came from. >> A guy who got to pay me give me the check. >> Okay, some guy paid you to get a check? >> Yes, he's >> Who is he? >> He's a person I I do a work he give me the check. >> What type of work do you do? >> What? What type of work? >> I do construction. >> You have a construction company? >> I I don't have a company, but >> What's that? >> I don't have my company. But I I don't know that was illegal. >> Are you an employee? >> Yes, he's paying my team since >> Hey, what's his name? What's his name? Do you have >> Carlos. Carlos give me the name. >> Let's get to the check. And this check right here, this is the check you're talking about? Right here? >> Yeah, yeah, he give me the check. >> What's his name? Oh, that's your name on it, Daniel. That's what it says. >> Yeah, yeah, that's me. That's me. That's me. >> Okay. It says Daniel C on there. $2,100, okay? Um >> I don't understand what I do with this. >> Okay, so your friend is Daniel. I mean you have your friend is Carlos, right? Okay. All right, listen patiently. And you have his information at all? Do you have any information on Carlos? >> Carlos's phone number? >> Sorry? >> Do you have Carlos's phone number? >> Yeah, I can I can call a person that is my friend. He have the number. >> He has Carlos's phone number? >> No, no, I don't have his phone number. >> It was strange that he claimed he could call his friend, but did not even know the number. At that moment, deputies also managed to contact the real owner whose name was on the check. >> You're the owner, correct? >> I'm the owner. >> And do you also control the accounts and the paperwork? >> Yes. >> Perfect, perfect, perfect. Um Okay, so um the person that came in today Look at that screen. Let me just get to the bottom of the deal here. His name is Daniel [clears throat] Arturo Rodriguez Ponce or Ponce. Does that sound familiar at all? >> No. >> Okay. And um And you own a home custom building. >> Yes. >> Right. All right. Um and the check number that was uh Where did I write it down? Here? >> 7284 >> 7284, right? That we have here [clears throat] for $4900, that is not your check, correct? >> No. My That's my check with that check number is in my possession and it's not written. >> It's actually a check. >> Okay. All right. So, it's definitely not your check. >> No. >> Okay. I just wanted to make sure of that. So, um for your information, I'm going to give you a call later when we're done with this case. Um he will be arrested and um I will keep you updated, okay? >> Okay. If it's anything like last time, his partner will be waiting in the parking lot in a car, just so you know. >> Yes, and he is gone, apparently. >> He's gone. Oh, that was nice. We're good friends. Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. Um yeah. It wasn't the same It wasn't the same name, though, right? Correct? >> No, it was not >> someone else. It was someone else, right? You said >> Yes, it was a different name. >> Um According to the report, deputies discovered that another check with the same amount had already been cashed at a different branch earlier. But at this branch, the scheme was exposed by a bank employee with 23 years of experience. Here was her statement. >> You said that he had two other checks. How would that be? Would he come in and speak spoke with somebody else? >> He went to the teller cuz this is I've I've been doing this for so long. So, for me to try to look at the check, maybe if he gone with somebody else, maybe they don't have experience that I have. They will cash it. That's why he was able to cash two checks. >> So, do you think he came earlier? >> Probably. He went to from a different location. That's what they do. They go to different locations and cash it. >> Okay. Do you know what location? >> I can take a look cuz it's impending. Let me see if we can find >> I'm going to give you my card. >> Mhm. >> And you give it to Manny and then you can call me. >> Okay. >> So you don't have to run outside. >> Oh, perfect. Sounds good. >> Yeah, cuz I just saw now that >> Wow. So he's hitting the teller banks, probably. >> Oh, for sure. >> Okay, so he's been walk running around different banks. >> Yeah. >> And how much was the other >> I don't know if it's him, but I know two checks are the same amount. >> Returning to the suspect, he began admitting everything about what had happened, and the story finally became clear. >> So, I do a work for him. Hey, Carlos. >> See, I got that. >> for illustrating >> recommended you to Carlos. >> recommended me to Carlos. >> Does Carlos work for >> I don't know. I don't know. They just give me the check. I I don't know if that's legal. He didn't give me phone number. He didn't call me. I was with him in my house. And he told me, "Oh, I need to do something." And I say, "Okay, I go with you." And then in the car, he give me the check. >> Mhm. >> He leave me here. And he goes to the whatever he's going to do. That's >> And he's coming back? >> He's supposed to be back here. What kind of car is What kind of car does he drive? >> It was a white uh window window white >> So he left, and he's supposed to come back? >> He's supposed like he's supposed to be here, but Now I'm thinking that he's not coming. It's not my fault. >> Okay, I'm going >> I never do nothing with nothing. >> Check number 7284. Can you Can you please >> Can you please do something I'm not doing nothing wrong. >> No. Whoever dropped you off, whoever gave you that check, needs to come back. If not, I'm going to look at the camera, and I'm going to go find them. You tell You tell them that. So dile a Jose que si el quiere venir, si puede. >> The issue that we have is that this is a counterfeit check. >> Yeah, that's just what he told me. >> Right. So what's going to happen is you're going to get charged with that for attempting to cash that. >> That's why I told you to see if can I here. >> That's her friend. That's why >> Okay. I know you said Jose's coming. >> Jose is my >> Jose's coming, but Jose didn't write you this check. Carlos did, right? Exactly. So, either Carlos is going to come back or you're going to go to jail. Do you understand? >> He was charged with felony grand theft and felony uttering a forged instrument. Even a single reckless decision, like trying to cash a suspicious check from someone you barely know, can destroy your future and lead straight to serious felony charges. What do you think about cases like this? Share your thoughts in the comments, and don't forget to like and subscribe so you won't miss the next video. >> Okay, what about the other $180 that you didn't pay for? >> $180? >> Yeah, that's what the receipt said. >> Of what? It says I'm so glad I got evidence. So glad I got evidence and I'm following me. >> On June 10th, 2025, officers responded to a report from Target about a woman suspected of shoplifting. Upon arriving at the scene, the suspect appeared quite cheerful, but carried a hint of suspicion. >> Uh, how you doing? How you doing? >> Yeah, so I have her trying to leave right now. >> I'll talk to you a second, miss, okay? Right now, you're not under arrest, but you're being detained, okay? >> Detained? >> [snorts] >> You're being detained. >> So, as she was trying to leave, she did pay for a large portion of those items. Um, specifically, what we know is she had two Hot Wheels items that she kept under the seat there while she was checking out at the register. When they looked away, she pulled both of those items out, put them in the bags. Uh, she still had a basket in there as well with some cosmetics, uh, and some jewelry items. She went up to guest service. She paid for a bunch of items up there, but left all those items in the basket. So, then she moved to exit through those doors there, and that's when we stopped her. Uh, we do also have a record of her with Target. So, it is going to take us a while to get the video together. She was in here for about 4 hours. >> Okay. 4 hours in one duration or over >> Yeah, 4 hours in one duration. Um, the Do you have the receipt of those items? >> this? Does this look right? >> Yeah, so this looks right. We will double check it against the other items, but this is all the stuff that was left in that basket along with the Is that what the two toys are on it? The two Hot Wheels? >> Yeah, with both Hot Wheels. >> So, it seemed the staff had spent considerable time gathering clear evidence against her, yet none of it appeared to matter as she had already prepared her own version of the story. >> So, do you have an ID with you? >> I don't. And I don't even have >> Credit card, so she gave me her ID. >> All right, well, talk to me. >> Yeah, it's I know Well, Target is so racist. When I was in the Soon as I came through the door, that girl with that neon shirt ran to the ran to the front door and I took a video of it. When I walked up to the front, no one was there. No asset protection, no nothing. And so, I was like, "Oh, okay." So, then I recorded him and I recorded her walking up to that door. And I'm like, "Oh, so now they're profiling." And so, I went to that register, register one. And I don't even know what he's talking about with the Hot Wheels cuz I did My total was $219. >> Mhm. >> And so, um when I was at the register and I had a a basket. And so, the lady at the register was at the guest service that she wanted to go to lunch. And the other older lady was like, "You can go ahead and go to lunch." And she's like, "What you going to do with that basket?" I'm like, "I'm going to get service." And so, she put everything around the basket and nothing in the inside. So, I went to guest service. I had two baskets full of clothes already waiting at guest service. And so, um >> What kind of service are you talking about? >> Over here at the service desk. >> A detailed story that conveniently omitted the act of not paying was quickly detected by the officers, and they immediately confronted her about the suspicious gap in her narrative. >> But typically you're supposed to pay for all the stuff over there at the register before you go to the place that's probably right next to the exit, right? >> complaining about going to lunch, register one. She didn't want to work anymore. >> Mhm. >> So, she was >> So you So you walked past? So you just walked past and say okay? >> No, she she asked me about my basket. She said it was okay to take it to the customer service. >> Okay. >> Cuz it was already in the basket. >> Mhm. >> So, when I was at guest service after she got the pool, she just put it right on top of my basket. >> What? >> And so I paid for everything thinking that I about the damn basket cuz I'm working with the other lady. >> All right, so what happened after? >> So, um after I'm going to go get into my car and these two people >> suddenly we went from the service desk to getting into your car. >> I paid for my stuff at customer service. >> Okay, what about the other $180 that you didn't pay for? >> $180? >> Yeah, that's what the receipt said. >> Of what? Can I see the receipt? >> It looks like there were various toys, other things that we had there. So there's some things that you're disagreeing that you stole but some things that you did walk out with? >> Yeah, so I I don't know how she she forgot What is the HH basket? Cuz that white basket she's supposed to have scanned. >> And what do you remember walking out with that you didn't pay for? >> Everything should have been paid for. >> Everything should have been paid for but it but it wasn't. So what what didn't What wasn't paid for? >> The the basket that had the makeup and a bronzer and a jacket that was supposed to be $15. >> Okay. >> Everything else was should have been paid for. >> Okay. >> She deliberately said it should be paid instead of it was paid. She failed to realize that she had just admitted to not paying and once again continued to shift the blame onto the employees. >> When I'm working with the one lady for her to ring up the clothes, imagine me you paying for one thing and then a late another lady has a big pool and she's like, "I'm just going to sit it on top of your car." And she just sits it on top of the car. >> Okay. All right, you're obviously concealing stuff. So just uh hang out with me with my partner here for 1 second. I'm going to be right back, okay? >> Yeah, cuz I told him like if it's a hundred whatever >> All of the woman's arguments no longer held any persuasive weight, and at that point, the officers made their decision. >> And now so, we're going to take a look at that. You're going to come with us, okay? So, what I think should probably happen with >> dollars? >> Yeah, I mean a dollar. We'd do it for a dollar. That's That's what retail theft is, okay? Now, with your priors, probably no. There could be felony uh charges on something like this. So, >> A felony charge? >> Yeah, um if you've been convicted before on retail theft, this could be felony pointed at this point. I'll make this as quick as possible, I told you, but we got to work on a couple of things, okay? >> Okay. >> Okay, we might need two and two. >> You can do what you wish with that complaint. It's not going to be >> But I didn't do anything. >> All right. >> When I get my food and that right there, she charging it That's not on the receipt. >> Okay, let's just walk right now, okay? Okay. I think that >> I was a full officer. >> Okay. I told you you were detained. >> You never read me my Miranda rights. >> Well, you're in custody now, so if you want to talk to me, I can read them to you. >> Nope, too late. >> Okay. That's That's fine for me. >> Okay. >> I will let my attorney know he never read them. >> Okay. Careful now, watch your head. >> I'm too big for that strap. Well, I can't sit up with the strap. And and and no read reading of my Miranda rights. >> Okay. >> You never read me my Miranda rights. >> When you're being detained, I don't have to. >> You said I was not being arrested. I was just being detained so you can get information. >> at the >> Okay. That might be the best way. >> Okay. >> It's fine if we don't >> Yes, officer. Racist. I'm so glad I got evidence. So glad I got evidence and I'm following me. So glad I got evidence. Oh my goodness. Soon as I came in the store, they were following me. Like nobody understands. She set the basket She set Officer, she set the pool right on top of my basket while I'm working with the other lady. Like if I was working with just the one lady, then I could have been paying attention to everything. Yeah. I don't need to go to no more retailers. >> Racist they say all. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Blaming racism or others cannot erase clear actions because evidence and accountability always speak louder than excuses. [music] Next, meet the shoplifters and the foolish excuse story behind it. >> Stay right there. Stay right there. Stay right there. Stay right there. Stay right there. Did you pay for that? >> No, she wouldn't let me. >> On July 14th, 2023, police responded to a report from a retail store about two women involved in shoplifting. When officers arrived at the scene, the moment the suspect's noisy outburst erupted was when police moved in and ambushed her. >> Hey, give me the cart. >> Hey. Hey. Stay right there. Stay right there. Stay right there. Stay right there. Stay right there. Did you Did you pay for that? >> No, she wouldn't let me. >> Who? >> The lady at the register. Ask her. >> Okay. >> Oh, she said I got to have that. >> You're going to be detained at the at the moment, okay? >> Okay, that's fine. >> Okay. Let's get you out of here. >> You want me to drop it? >> Oh, yeah. You can drop it. We'll be out in a sec. >> You want me to drop it? >> Yeah, drop. >> This is my bag. This is my bag. Okay. Like I said, there for hour, like almost an hour. >> So again, so you're just being detained at the moment, okay? Doesn't mean you're being arrested. So we're just trying to clear things up. >> The suspect carried an entire rack of clothing outside without paying, yet still believed she had done nothing wrong. At that point, the store manager had already made several decisions. >> Look at that. So >> Yeah, I want to press charges. >> Okay. On both of them? >> Both of them. Yeah, they have all that is ours. >> Okay. So So apparently she they're saying that >> No, she want me to come to the car to the door to pick up a card. I'm like, I'm not going to the front door to pick up no card. She want to pay for it. But she already bagged it. >> Yeah. Okay. >> She already bagged the merchandise. >> They're claiming that they were that you they wouldn't let you guys wouldn't let them pay apparently. >> No, she She how long when we called you guys they've been at the register and I saw her stuff that bag. I was looking at her from here and I saw her stuff the bag. >> Yeah. >> with our merchandise with the hangers. >> Okay. So they they didn't pay for any of that. >> They didn't pay for nothing. >> Okay. >> She said she have a return and she have and she need her card. >> Okay. >> So I said, "Where's your card?" "Oh, it's by the door. If I could go get it." I said, "I'm not going by the door to go get no card." No. >> Okay. >> And she want one of my ladies to go get the card. I said, "No. We're not going out there." >> But that was exactly what the store wanted. Returning to the original suspect, it appeared that she had a story ready to excuse her actions. >> So So at this time you are under arrest stop list, okay? >> Oh, wow. >> Okay. So it sounds like you didn't you didn't pay for any of this. >> She did that on purpose. >> Okay. You got an ID on >> Um no, I don't. >> You don't have ID on you. >> I don't have my ID on me. >> Okay. You want to grab a seat? You want to grab a seat somewhere or something? I don't want to have you stand the whole time. So you don't got ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> What's your last name? >> Davis. >> Davis? What's your first name? >> Tichina. T i c h i n a. >> Say it again. >> T i c h i n a. I don't see how I'm being arrested if If that lady told me to get out how am I being arrested? >> Go ahead and tell me what happened. >> What happened? >> Yeah. >> Okay, so when I walked in the store, I asked the guy what time the store which I knew you guys closed. He said 12. And I was like, "Okay, I got a little bit of time." Well, I was like 10:40. Maybe like 10:50 when I walked in. >> 10:50? >> Yeah, it was like 10:50 cuz I asked him what time he closed he said 12. >> Okay. >> And I was like, "Okay, cool. I have a little bit of time." So, I'm just shopping, shopping, shopping. And then I guess it was 11:30 when they closed and I didn't know that because he said 12. The lady that I guess she's the manager maybe, the black lady up there. >> Okay. >> Yeah, so the lady That's when she comes to the back where I was at and she's like, "We're closed. We're closed." >> So, what? >> And I'm like, "You're closed? You guys said you guys close at 12." I'm like, "What time is it?" She's like, "It's 11:30. We close at 11:30." >> Okay. >> And I'm like, "Okay." And so I started, you know, going through what I was going to get. I'm like, "You can do my stuff." She's like, "We're closed. We're closed." And I'm like, "Okay." So, I started walking towards the front. And so when I get up to the front, this lady was already up there and she was like doing whatever she was doing with the lady up at the register. There was only one register open. And so when I came up there, I was standing stand I stood there quietly, didn't say anything. I'm just like letting them do whatever they're doing, waiting to get my stuff. And so the lady, she's just going back and forth. Like instead of opening up for another register to let me pay for my stuff, she's just going back and forth yelling and like like what is that going to do? >> Her story deliberately shifted the blame onto store employees for how the situation was handled. And in her own account, she also added her motive for carrying unpaid merchandise out of the store. >> And I'm like, "Okay, so you're just going to keep going back and forth yelling instead of trying to help the situation." And she's like, um what did she say? Then she went in the back She went in the back, came back out, and then yelled said something else to the girl, and then um And then that's when I think she was actually to get her card. And so she the lady wouldn't go get her card so she could pay for her stuff. She's like she wanted her to leave so get her card or you know, go get her card. And she's like, "I'm not going outside. I can't go outside." So, she didn't she wasn't asked to go outside. The problem was coming to the door. And that's when I came and looked I got so I was like, "I'll just go get it." But I brought my car with me cuz I had my my bag in there. And so I brought it to there and I came out and I looked. And then that's when I went back and she's like, "You You guys get you you can get out. Just get out." And I'm like, "What are you talking about?" So, I'm like, "I'm I'm taking my stuff. You don't You don't want to pay for it?" She's like, "Just get out." Like, okay. So, what would you take that as? To just get out, right? >> Well, I mean to me, I would I I wouldn't get out with unpaid merchandise, right? I mean, what store do you know >> But if she If I said, "You don't want me to pay for my stuff?" And she said, "Just get out." What would you What would you take that for? Take that as? Just leave, right? >> So, if you were in that situation, how would you have handled it? Leave a comment below. At the same time, police also approached the second suspect who appeared to be slightly more honest. >> Hey, how are you doing? >> I'm okay. >> Hey, I'm Officer Hang. So, just so you're aware, this is audio video recorded, okay? >> No. >> Yeah. Okay. Um just for the record though, can you just state your name? >> Kira Austin. >> What's that? >> Kira Austin. >> You know why you're being talked to, right? >> Um for a theft, right? >> What's that? >> Theft. >> Yeah, so at this point, you're So, you're under arrest for shoplifting, okay? I'm going to read you your rights. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> Yes, sir. >> What's that? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. And then having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me? >> Yes, sir. >> What What occurred? >> So, we were in there shopping and then um went to the register and um you know, I was trying to pay for my stuff there. And then I realized that have my card. And so I asked her, "Can you walk me through the door to get my car, you know?" And she said she couldn't walk me through the door to get my car. >> Yeah, it was two >> the lady in there. >> Oh, okay. >> Mhm. It was two of them in there behind the counter at that time. >> Yeah. >> And so I said, "Can you walk me to the door to get my um car?" And she said, "I can't walk you to the door to get your car, but you can walk to to the door to get your car." >> Yeah. >> I said, "Okay, can you walk with me to the door, you know?" Because I know how this works. And I said, "Can you walk walk with me to the door to get my car?" And she said, "No, I cannot walk to the door to get your car." She said, "You can go, but I can't go." So, I said, "Okay." So, I walked to the door, and that's where I stopped right there at the last door because I know how this works. >> Yeah. She fully understood what shoplifting was. So, given what had happened, she stated that she was also shocked by her friend's actions. >> So, I already knew that she was >> So, if you forgot I mean, if you forgot your car, why didn't you Why didn't you leave like leave the items and go grab your car and come back? >> No, cuz she told I was walking to the cuz she was supposed to be at the door, and then she said, "Just go ahead. Go to the door. I don't care. Go ahead." And I knew she was on the phone. I said, "You're on the phone with the police." I said, "Oh my god, why you on the phone with the police?" You know? I said, "You don't even have to do that. I'm going to pay for myself." And so, she said, "Go ahead. Go to Go ahead. Go ahead." So, I had my hand You go ahead. Go Go to the door. So, I went to the door, and sure enough, >> So, I mean, >> I would tell your daughter >> Yeah. >> I um I'm not going to try to pull your sleeve or nothing because I know what it is, but to be honest, okay, maybe I was I did put a couple of things in the bag that I wasn't going to pay for, but cuz I know being honest gets you on my way. So, and I'm just going to be honest with you. >> No, I appreciate it. >> No, I I'm going to be honest with you because I'm not going to even try to insult you like that, but I had a couple of things in the bag >> intended to pay for most of it, but you did put a few things >> I'm not going to lie to you. >> What was What did you put What did you put in your purse? >> Nothing. Nothing's in my purse. You can look in my purse. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Yet, despite everything that happened, she refused to take responsibility for the consequences, leaving it all on her friend's shoulders, even appealing for sympathy by claiming she was a single mother. >> I've been through a lot. My daughter has cystic fibrosis, so >> Yeah. >> But I mean, I like I've been doing this for 5 years. You know how I'm I'm a single mom. I have a daughter and I take good care of her. >> Where's your Where's your daughter at now? >> She's with my auntie right now. My auntie is a very very allergic, so she has one leg. >> Okay. >> And so, I don't you know? >> Yeah. All right. Well, again, I to you being cooperative, right? So, >> I am. >> So again, so it goes back to like so if you knew kind of what was going down and you knew she was on the phone with the police, I mean, why why even risk it, right? >> Because I wasn't going to I wasn't going to steal the stuff. I was going to pay for it like I told you. So >> I'll say what? Why just not leave Why just not leave the items and go grab your card and come back? You you kind of You said you kind of had an idea of what was going down, right? >> Yeah, yeah, I did. I did. I did. >> But yet you still went through with it. >> [clears throat] >> Because I wasn't going to come outside. You know, that's why I stayed at the doors. I know I know this stuff. I know like what to do and so I'm like I'm not going out the doors with this stuff. Like you told me to go, but I'm not going out the doors. I'm going to just go to the door and if she doesn't read my card, then here, you can have it. And that's why your security guard was right there. He was trying to follow me outside. So I knew she was on the phone with you guys. I You probably heard me say, "You on the phone with the police?" >> Yeah. Where was Where's your card at? Where were you trying to get your card at? >> I don't know. It's It has to be in the car somewhere cuz it's not in my wallet. >> Where's your car? >> My My friend's car is right there. >> Where? Which one? >> Straight right there. >> Whose vehicle is it? >> My friend Alicia's. >> Oh, okay. >> She's over there. >> All right. >> And so I looked in my wallet and stuff and my card wasn't in there. So it has to be in there because I just used it not too long ago. I can't seem to >> Okay. >> But that's why I say I'm not like your supervisor said, like don't lie to you and whatever. I'm not going to because >> Okay. >> I have too much to lose and I'm >> In the end, the woman was charged with theft. Actions have consequences. Making excuses, shifting blame, or seeking sympathy cannot erase deliberate choices, especially when the truth is already clear. Next, this woman thought she had the right to do anything she wanted. >> Stand right there. Stand right there. >> I know you're irritated. I know you're irritated. We're not >> On October 14th, 2024, police received a report from a shopping mall about a disturbance that occurred. When officers approached and attempted to gather information from the female suspect, her attitude became the most notable detail. >> in to get my phone fixed from her. And literally the day of me leaving, my phone broke again. I come back the next day, she fixes my phone, it literally looks like She fixes the screen again. Now the screen is like this, I didn't crack it. I swear to god, it literally last night it popped up out of nowhere and just spread it. And now my phone just drained. So boom, I paid her $310. Wasn't a problem, okay, cool. Came back today. I asked her like, "Can you fix it?" So I went to Apple. Apple basically said it's the way she installed it, the screws and stuff, that's what caused the screen So basically now she's trying to tell me it's because of me. But how is it because of me and you fixed it before and it literally broke the next day? So now he asked for at least her to fix it again. She told me I can get you a discount. But this is my second time coming to you about the same phone that you fixed and I just paid you $310. And you said I can't get my money back and you can't even fix it cuz it's my fault. But how is it my fault? Apple just said something you did. So yes, I told her what we were arguing about and she started laughing in my face. I don't find [ __ ] funny before. $300 is not a little money. So And then he want to sit here and be doing all the most. I'm not talking to you. No, I don't want to be over here. I'm not about that. And I told her I would flip her whole store. I don't care. $300 is not a little money. So she claimed that she was entirely the victim of the incident. At the same time, police approached the involved store employees to understand their perspective. >> Uh we found the whole money. We don't have to fix it basically. Because I don't want my screen to get destroyed. >> She didn't want her phone to get fixed. >> She said what if she did something else and also this We don't know if it was a prank. I can give the whole money back. So we done. Even. I told her it was just a little bit. Give her the whole money back. We don't have that in our store right now. Yeah. I can be from the whole money. I don't never want to just for the sake of machine trespasser. Yeah, she said yeah. >> So what what what do you want to do here? Are you looking to press charges or anything or you just want to okay. Okay, so that is far as whatever the money situation you know that's >> I said you can dispute it you can dispute it coming back to us. You can dispute your card. That's easy. >> Okay. >> Because you don't have back now the official. You don't want to talk. >> All right. >> There is another official you know what I mean dispute. >> The store accepted that she could take legal action against them and stated that they wanted to trespass her. Police attempted to explain this to her but she did not appear willing to listen. >> Like this it's a civil matter. There's really not anything the law says. You know you pay them to do a service. Your phone still broke but you know what I mean. So if you want to take it up with your credit card company or whatever take it you know to a civil matter to get your money back that's the best I can tell you to do. Okay. Because I mean again that there's you're paying him a service if he's not You know what I'm saying? Like it's not it's not really a law standpoint at that point. It's you asked him to do a service and your phone's still not working. That becomes a civil matter. There's no >> Okay, so I'm letting y'all know I'm going to be her rep. I don't care I don't give a I got to come back every day this week I want to be her rep. >> Okay, well you've been trespassed for tomorrow and we'll see what's going to happen. >> That's >> So >> if you can back I got to write you a trespass ticket. >> Understood. Cuz I'm not worried about it. >> Good. Don't do it. >> No, because that's not fair. That's not That's not right at all. I don't care. So, now I just don't have no phone. And I'm going to turn around and pay another $400 to even get another phone. >> Yeah, I I I understand what you're saying. I do. But, again, the phone is It's a civil >> So, what did he say? What's >> What do you mean? >> Up to that point, the woman continued to show her frustration through an irritated attitude, but the situation became increasingly problematic when police began the next procedures. >> Well, what do you mean by a civil suit? >> Because this is now a trespass matter. I I I need >> Well, I don't have an ID. You can't ban me from coming in. So, >> Well, security right there, okay? And he's going to >> Well, I don't have ID for you, and I'm not telling you my name, so >> She wants to get arrested at this point for trespass. >> I'm not trespassing. I'm using my legal right to be in the store. >> I'm not leaving for her. So, what's the problem? >> You're refusing to leave the store now. >> I don't have to. >> She's She's refusing to leave. I can't tell her to leave. >> Yeah, I want you guys gone. >> I can't get her information cuz she's refusing to give it to me. >> So, >> So, if she's refusing to leave, then I'll have to >> I will leave if you give me the information. I will leave if you >> Did she just verbally >> Yeah, she did verbally threaten me. Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and press charges. >> All right, stop. Uh-uh, stop. You need to stop. >> Don't come touching me. Don't come >> Stop it. >> Touch me. >> [screaming] >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. >> Get off of me. On the ground. >> [screaming] >> On the ground. >> Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. >> Stand real still. Stand real >> The woman walked away instead of providing information for her trespass, and even after the chaos that had just occurred, she still stormed off in anger. >> All right. >> I didn't have to arrest her when she was walking away. >> Huh? I don't have to do this. Look, you cannot leave. You're under arrest at this point. You're not listening. >> [laughter] >> She wandered around aimlessly like a child throwing a tantrum, and that lack of cooperation was what led to her being handcuffed. >> Yeah, I understand you're frustrated. >> I got a court date and I don't have no phone. >> I understand I do. I tried to understand with you and talk to you. >> And she's in his face like I'm irritated. I don't care. I'm irritated. I don't care. I don't >> And then you didn't want to And then you didn't want to cooperate with me and tell me your information. >> Because I got irritated like that. >> I know you're irritated. All right. >> No. >> Let me tighten this that way >> it doesn't tighten on your wrist. All right. >> No. >> Step in the vehicle. >> No, y'all don't have no reason to arrest me. >> Step in the vehicle. >> No, when y'all give me a valid reason, I will. >> I've already explained it to you. I I I have multiple times. >> What did you think about the woman's actions? Leave a comment below. As for her, she showed no remorse, played the victim, and hid behind what appeared to be fake tears. >> First off, I wait, could I talk to him by yourself cuz no. >> Okay. You just want to talk with me? >> Yep. >> Okay. Step back from So, it's going to be resisting arrest, um criminal trespass cuz I was told >> for what? How much trespass for what? They told me to leave. I started walking away. He followed me down the escalator and swung on me. >> Who did? >> What did >> Okay. >> The little short one. >> Okay. >> And then follow me through the hallway to the lot after I left out. So, >> Okay. So, um I just you saw when I showed up. Can you >> But they still swung on me as [ __ ] like I was getting arrested and he just stood there and followed me. I walked out. I got >> So, here So, here's here's the deal. That's this that's what court is for, okay? [snorts] >> No, because I'm irritated. Like that [ __ ] is annoying. I literally walked down the escalator. I was fixing to leave, man. He just followed me. >> In the end, the woman was charged with resisting arrest and was ordered to pay a $1,300 fine and all court costs. Her refusal to cooperate turned a civil dispute into a criminal outcome, proving that attitude and behavior can escalate a situation faster than the original problem ever did.
