Oh my god. >> You have the money to pay for the items. >> Yeah. >> But why are we why are we trying to get a fast one in Walmart? >> Like why? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I've explained it to you. >> Stop. She thought she had carefully planned everything to get away with stealing, including using her difficult circumstances and deceptive stories to deny what she had done. But none of it could hide the truth from the police. There are the moments when dumb woman thinks she could outsmart police. Starting with this unstable woman who thought she was entitled to this. You're not leaving right now. >> Why? >> Because >> because why? Give me a reason. We have to figure out what >> Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. >> On the 12th of July 2026, officers were dispatched to a store at a station after receiving a report of a woman suspected of shoplifting. But when [snorts] they approached her, officers immediately noticed that she appeared to be hiding something. >> What is it? >> It's It's this right here. I'm paying for it when when I leave. >> No, you concealed it. That's what you did. >> I'm holding in my hand. My hands are freezing. Feel them. I don't want Why are you doing all that? >> What do you mean doing all that? You're talking to me first. >> Check it out. >> Here. Should I hold it like this? Here, I'll hold it like that. Okay. >> What else do you have? What else do you have? >> Nothing. I have my stuff on my back. I've changed my back pocket. >> Nothing in that arm. >> No. >> She denied stealing anything. But was she simply making excuses after being caught? She then suddenly insisted on going to the register to pay, seemingly trying to avoid the officers. >> Do you [snorts] want to pay for that? >> I'm going right now to the register. >> Okay. I'm not I'm not >> Why are you acting so weird? >> Why are you harassing me? >> I'm not harassing you. I'm handling something. >> I Cuz I want to I've had a horrible week. I just want to eat. Can you please let me go to the register and pay for my thing? Okay. So, why have you been back here for so long? >> Because I'm on the phone. 25. No, you're not going anywhere yet. >> Why? >> Because >> Because why? >> We're waiting for >> I have breaks and I need to go pay for my stuff. >> You're not leaving right now. >> Why? >> Because >> Because why? Give me a reason. >> We have to figure out what the store wants to do. >> What? So then go find out. I'll wait right here. >> The store wants me to leave. I will leave. >> My supervisor's talking about >> Okay, perfect. >> How long How long you been here? >> Huh? >> How long have you been here? >> In New Jersey. My face. >> No. Waw wa. >> I don't know. >> You don't remember how long you've been here? Like inside the store? >> I a little while. >> Okay. Doing what? >> I was in the bathroom washing my face. >> Okay. >> And take and um and then >> and what you can tell me what you >> and I came out here and I was on the phone talking about you washed your face and what did you do? Did you take any >> I was standing at the sink. Any narcotics? Did you take any? >> No. >> The officers kept the woman there to learn more about what had happened. But the longer they questioned her, the more agitated she became. She then began getting emotional, emphasizing that she was going through difficult circumstances. >> You've been here for how long? You don't remember how long? >> No, I don't know. I've been here for a little while. I've been waiting for an answer my phone. >> Who are you trying to get to come pick you up? >> I'm walking. I'm trying to get somebody to send me money. They just sent me the money. I want to go buy my phone. >> Okay. Can you show me that what they SENT YOU? >> 20 BUCKS. I'M NOT SHOWING YOU. IT'S MY PHONE. They sent me money. It's >> It was just a question. >> But But it Why do you need to see it? You know, you're asking for things that that I don't have any reason to give you. >> Okay. >> If I have the money, I can pay for it myself. If they allow me to pay for it, they'll be if not, then I will leave right now. >> Okay. Well, we'll wait to see what they want to do with you. >> Well, can we talk to them? We'll all >> sergeant's talking to them. >> I do. >> This is ridiculous. Where is your supervisor? >> He's over there. >> Well, then let's go talk to him. >> You didn't want to talk to him. He was right here. You didn't want to talk to him? No, you didn't. >> So, we can talk to him now. >> Now you want to talk to him? >> Yes. I'm requesting to speak to a supervisor >> cuz we're on your time. >> Yeah. You work for me, don't you? >> Protect and serve. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> You think so? >> So, where's the supervisor? >> He's over there. You're not going away. >> Okay. Are we good? Am I leaving or am I am am I able to buy my stuff? >> Nope. once he comes back and tells us. >> Okay, so now I have to stand here even longer even though they don't want me here. >> Her attitude continued to change as her emotions escalated and she soon became increasingly uncooperative, even refusing to provide the officers with her personal information. >> Your name and was saying you're on your way, man. >> You don't need my name. >> We do, but they want you guys. >> There you go. >> What's your last name? STOP. >> IT DOESN'T MATTER. YOU DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO ASK me for my information without any No, no. I gave you my name. I'm going home. >> I gave you my name. My name is Lauren Dubai. Don't Don't touch me. THERE'S NO REASON FOR YOU TO TOUCH ME. IS THERE A REASON why I'm being detained? >> Yes. We are handling a shopping now. They want you gone. So, we just need your name. >> Okay. So, my name is Lauren. >> Lauren. What? >> Corner. Hold on. Let us confirm that and then you're on your way. >> Okay. Go ahead. >> All right. We're going to confirm it and then you're on your way. >> Okay. Bye. >> Okay. >> Go ahead. How do you do that? >> Oh, okay. Go ahead. You said Lauren. Corner. >> H O R N E R. >> Corner. >> Yes. >> You don't have ID on you? >> No, I do not. >> I'm trying to make it easier for you. I want you to go, too. But >> my wallet got stolen. I don't have it. >> Okay. I'm sorry for that. >> We're not here to bother you. We just >> It sure feels like it. >> When we get everybody walk, >> I'm going to get called here for you. >> You're not doing anything wrong. >> No, but you're [ __ ] stopping me from moving from one little spot. You're putting your hands on me without permission. You're asking me for my identification for noing reason. I know my rights and I know that I CAN LEAVE. YOU SAID I HAVE. >> Her emotions continued to shift and the officers realized it was becoming difficult to get any more information from her. At that point, they took action, but they never expected her reaction to turn the situation into chaos. >> Please. No. No. What? What am I under arrest for? No. >> Come on. Stop. Stop. >> No. Please. I will lower my voice. Do not touch me. >> I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't do anything wrong. Please don't touch me. No. No. No. No. No. Please. Somebody record this. I didn't do anything wrong. Oh my god. >> Please stop me. >> I can you can you tell me why I'm being arrested? >> I didn't take anything. I know. My god. Oh my god. They're arresting me. Please let me CALL MY MOTHER. >> NO. I FOR WHAT? I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. [screaming] >> OH MY GOD. THEY'RE TELLING ME I STEAL. I told her I steal. She's always through the camera. Somebody do something. Please. >> They're going to beat me up in here. Oh my god. OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. Oh my god. Oh my god. This is ridiculous. [gasps] Please somebody. I didn't do anything and they're telling us. Okay. >> All right. Come on. Go. Let's go. >> I can't do anything. >> You're okay. >> And you're arresting me for shop working when you prove that I didn't take anything. >> You have it in your sleeve. >> I DIDN'T [screaming] TAKE IT. >> You don't need to take it. >> I was holding it in the store. How is that? >> The woman was then placed in the police vehicle while officers continued to find more merchandise in her bag, which they suspected was also stolen. So, she had >> So, >> initially it was just these two that we saw in the camera and then when I zoomed in she had one of these two. >> Okay. >> And then all these came out of her pocket. >> Okay. Okay. >> Yeah. We're going to >> I run up these four. I run these. >> Yep. And then I'll take that. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I guess I told him. All right. Whatever. I'll talk to >> him later. Here. Swing your feet over for me. >> No. My father's a neighbor. He couldn't tell. He said before. >> It's our policy. >> Takes one person to ruin it. In the end, the woman was charged with resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, shoplifting, and of course, possession of drug paraphernalia. [music] This may have also explained her unstable behavior. Emotional reactions and excuses won't make a situation disappear. Cooperating with officers and being honest can help prevent a simple investigation from escalating further. More seriously, this mother had also been hiding her repeated wrongdoing from her family. So, how many times have you been at this Target right here and stolen items? >> Incidents on I think probably seven or so, >> but I'm only charging her for the one today. >> On the 7th of September 2023, police received a call from Target after being notified of a woman allegedly stealing from the store. More concerning, another family member was with her. And according to the employees statement, this was not even her first time there. Um, Miss Latasha, she's more than capable of speaking, but she did let me know that um, she's living out of a hotel right now. >> She's having a hard time managing and paying for her relatives or anybody here. She had her mom was just calling from her from New York, she said. >> Um, you want to chat with her, you're more than welcome to. >> I understand. >> I understand. [music] >> All right. So, right quick, um, >> are you going to uh, >> I would like to, uh, prosecute and trespass for this incident majority of the time? Yes, she was here last night and she did steal alcohol last night as well. She stole alcohol today, but those are the most like frivolous things, guys. Things like that. I'm going to start compiling all >> um I'm actually going to Oh, >> you mind if I take a picture? >> Oh, sure. Okay. So, this is what um I'm going to go ahead and do. Technically, I placed you into investigative detention, but since you have your daughter with you, I'm not going to put you in handcuffs right now. Okay. Okay. >> All right. So, I'm definitely strangled with the Sim County Sheriff's Office. Okay. Um, at this point you are in investigative detention, but for this, like I say, >> for the sake of your daughter right now, I'm not going to do that. Okay. But here's the thing. If you try to run out this door, >> I'm not >> Yeah. And then we we we in a whole totally different situation. Okay. >> But the situation gradually became more serious when the deputy discovered that the girl sitting beside her was not the only one with her. There were more members sitting outside in the vehicle. Is that >> a baby in the car? No, don't tell. >> Oh, so they have two young kids in the car and a baby in the car. >> Okay, might as well call DCF. >> You have your ID on you? >> Hold on. Give me one second. >> Hey, what's going on? Do you have kids in your car? >> Hm. >> Do you have children in your car? Do you have children in your car? >> Yes. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Hold on. Let me give me a second. I'm I'mma read her Miranda. I'll call you back. Okay. Bye. All right. Um, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right. >> I'm living in hotel. I'm just having a hard time right now. >> I get it. And we all have hard times. >> I know. >> So, but we have a bigger issue right now. How many children are in your car right now? >> Two. >> Two kids. What are their ages? [snorts] >> My son is 10. >> 10. And >> my daughter is one. >> One. So, you got a 10-year-old and a one-year-old in the car. >> That's it. >> Mhm. >> Okay. All right. And then how old is >> She's four. >> She's four. >> Hi. >> Four. Okay. Um I thought they were baby babies. Like a infant in a guard. Okay. That's That's It kind of kind of got me. I'm like, what are we doing? >> All right. So, have you been here before? >> Yes. >> Okay. And what what has taken place before? Why you came to this particular Target? There was no particular target just that my son go to school in the area. >> So, how many times have you been at this Target right here >> and stolen items? >> I don't remember. I'm not sure. >> So, it's just been a a whole bunch of times. >> Based on her reaction, she could not deny the theft, but admitting that others were involved made the deputy take the situation more seriously. >> Okay. And have your children been present with you while you've done it? like physically in the store. >> Maybe. >> Maybe. Okay. >> Because um that's also a completely different charge because you are committing a crime in the presence of of juveniles. >> So, I'm not taking the arrest. Somebody else is going to take it. I'm here to pretty much kind of feel it until that person comes. Now, I will whatever it is that you what what you're telling me right now, I will relay it to the arresting deputy and it'll be up to them what they want to do. Okay? But I'm just I'm just letting you know you're you're what you you're pretty much dealing with right now. You're committing a crime in the presence of your children. We dealing with two different crimes right now. Okay. So again, I'm going to leave that up to them. Whatever it is that he wants to do with it, then that's him. Okay. >> Oh, will they take them? Do you have anybody that can come and get them? I can try and find somebody, please. I mean, you can give us a second again. Here's the thing. you you you kind of put yourself in a bad situation. I get we and honestly we all go through trying times to be honest with you. So am I. Okay. But >> I mean >> you get what I'm saying? I mean I don't want to kind of beat a dead horse. >> I know. >> Okay. All right. So All right. So [music] you are trespassed from this particular target. Okay. If you do come back to this target, you will be subject to arrest. Okay. I do have to take a photo of you. >> Okay. Did you get the vehicle open? >> I can just open it. >> They got the vehicle open. >> They broke the window. >> I can't say if they broke it or not, but if your 10-year-old is in the car, pretty sure. >> The woman's husband then arrived to pick up the children. And his reaction showed that he was completely caught off guard by what she had done. >> Public record and you'll be able to see it anyway. Um, but this I'll just say this isn't the first time. >> No, she's never did this before. I'm saying this isn't the first time at the store. I'm telling you it's not >> that she did this. >> She's done this many times. I have documented incidents on I think probably seven or so. But I'm only charging her for the one today. I will say that >> she had children in the car. >> Absolutely. I told them that we we knew that she had children in the car before we even stopped her. >> So she was >> she just she just didn't pay for some stuff. What happened? >> What's in that pocket right there? Um, it's a pen. >> The pen? >> Yeah. Let's >> walk you this way real fast. >> All right. I'm going to go in there and grab it. >> Yeah. >> I'm just going to tell you right now, um, anything else you have on you, if it's introduced into the jail, it's going to be another charge. You understand? Anything but >> anything else on you? Any other controvers? >> Finally, Latasha Brooks was charged with petite theft. [snorts] Repeated theft can quickly become more complicated when children are present during the incident. Cooperating with officers may help keep the situation from escalating further, but it does not erase the consequences of the underlying offense. But what if the thief was actually an employee while the victim was a customer? Me and Kendrick both know this is in a really hard find. Hold on. People do things, you know. We all make errors in judgment. We all make mistakes. >> Yes, sir. >> So, hold just hold your >> On the 29th of July 2025, police received a report from a man who said he had lost a wallet containing $1,800 at a Dollar General store. but [snorts] it was never found even though employees said they had tried to look for it. Strangely, the cameras were also reportedly not working. When officers arrived the next day, the wallet was actually found inside the store's bottom safe. >> Um the top safe, everybody has Well, everybody, but the assistant managers and myself have access to >> So, we're going in the bottom safe, right? >> Mhm. >> The top safe don't have a timer on it. Why are they two different timers on >> that? I don't have an answer for. >> I mean, it gives us 10 minutes to get here. If somebody tries to rob them, they get us through. >> If they ain't going to get the money, they might get the safe. >> They can have the whole store. >> There it is. >> There it is. >> All right. >> Don't do this. Sorry y'all. >> Can we walk back here in your office and talk to you for a minute? >> Mhm. >> I'm going to buy a drink real quick. You need anything else? >> You good? >> Yeah. I was trying to think. >> No wallet was found in the safe. So, what was the explanation behind her earlier claim about its location? In her office, she had a different story. Was this a new story she had just come up with? >> Well, let me let me start out. I've been I've been working this job for 30 years. >> Yes, sir. >> Where's the wallet? I want I listen straight up. We can get get that wallet back to that lady and we might we might come out of this. with us. >> I'm just going to be honest with you. >> Just that's all I wanted to be honest with you, >> you know. Um, me and Kendrick, both of us is in a really hard find. Hold on. Hold on. >> Hold on. People do things, you know, we all make errors in judgment. We all make mistakes. >> Yes, sir. >> So, hold just hold your thoughts. You get a Miranda Miranda real quick. Okay. That way we're just covered. >> It doesn't mean you're going to jail. >> No, nobody has filed any criminal charges at this point. Okay. >> Yeah. >> The lady is missing some money and you you know what I'm talking about. >> I do. >> So, let's get this out of the way. >> I apologize. >> Okay. Hey, let's let's do this part. >> People listen, hold on just a sec. People sometimes we don't know what's going on in your life. We don't know. You know, some people get so bogged down they resort to whatever. Me and her, we've made a lot of mistakes. We make errors in judgment. >> Yes, sir. But there's consequences everywhere. >> She suddenly brought up her personal circumstances, [music] as if trying to gain the officer's sympathy before telling the truth. But look at her computer screen. They had actually lied earlier about the cameras not working. At this point, she began admitting what happened, including the involvement of another man. >> So, you want to talk to us about this? >> Not that kind of person. >> I know. >> Let me ask you some questions. >> Yes, sir. >> Who's the Who's the boy? Michael. He come and handed you the wallet. >> Mhm. So it's you're seeing this evidence. We already figured this out. >> Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm dumb to sit here and try to go, >> right? >> So he handed you the wallet. What did you do with the wallet that time? >> I remember. I handed it to Kendrick and then I told him to put it in the bottom safe. >> Okay. >> And that's what he he did to see the ID and then he put it in the bottom safe. >> So who took Who took the wallet out of the safe? >> Me and I did. I code. >> I know what was in the wallet. I want you to tell me what was in the wallet. >> Yeah, what was in the wallet? I don't know the exact amount, >> but but >> but there was quite a bit. >> How much? Again, >> I'm >> an estimate. >> 1,500. >> Okay. >> And you're and you're close. I'm not going to tell you the exact amount, but you're you're close. >> Who knows? >> So So when you took the when you took the wallet back out of the safe, what did you do with it? >> Mean, could we come back here? >> Where's the wallet out right now? >> I didn't throw it away. >> Where's it at? >> Where I'm staying at? >> Where's Gateway? Can we go recover that wallet now to get back to talk to the victim about what's going on? >> And and I'm willing to pay whatever. >> We don't want you to make any phone calls. >> Well, I got to call make sure the girl's there so I can get in the get in the apartment. >> Okay. Well, let's talk first and then we'll call somebody. Um, so what what did you do with the money? >> I'm not moving anywhere. I'm staying here and there. >> We understand. >> Um, >> times are hard. We understand. Housing is very expensive. We are not judging you for anything that you found. >> Yeah, but I'm judging us. >> You will. You judge yourself real hard, but we are not. We're not. >> Yeah. >> People do People do things like this. People do. That's We deal with this all the time. That's what I was just telling you a minute ago. I've been here 30 years. Me and her both knew what exactly what took place and we even knew he was going to be involved in it. >> Yeah. >> After cooperating and admitting to her wrongdoing, she then went with the officers to her residence as that was where the officers could find the wallet she had actually hidden. We come in and work with her. >> I want to talk to y'all outside. I don't let I don't let everybody in. >> That's okay. Can I Can I just keep an eye on her? >> Yeah. >> She's recovering something for us. >> Oh, okay. That's cool. Yeah. My cat's in my bedroom. It's all right. >> How are y'all doing? Is it raining? >> Not yet. It's about It's hot out here, too. She came in. >> Yeah. It said it was a bad storm off about 25 miles north. >> Yeah. I came from Mariana earlier. pretty bad driving through that stuff. Wow. Thank you. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Did you Did you still want to talk to us? >> No. No. I was just talking chitchat. [laughter] >> I got you. >> Okay. Y'all good? >> I probably here shortly. >> Thank you. >> Oh, okay. All right. >> All right. >> Huh? >> I dropped y'all some Cinnabon buns. >> Tell me. >> Well, they're behind the counter. >> Okay. And I still have the coins. Excuse me. >> Is that her? >> Where is all the money? >> The money's gone. >> Y'all spent the money? >> I know. I spent what I had. >> How much did you have? >> I do not know the exact figure >> about Did y'all spend the 50/50? >> I don't think so. >> You did you get 60? >> I think I got $900. >> 900? >> Maybe a,000 a month. How much did he get? >> I don't know. >> Whatever was left from. >> The next day, police returned with arrest warrants in hand. [snorts] This time, both Wendy, the manager, and the others involved were on the scene, all in handcuffs. >> Where's Miss Wendy at? >> Kendrick, put your hands behind your back. >> What? >> Cuz I told you to put your hands behind your back. Got a warrant for your arrest. Come with me. >> Hey, let me come here second. >> Come on. We ain't going to do it in here. Yeah. Come with me. >> Come here just a second. Let me talk to you just a second. Over here. Hey, >> double lock so they don't get a reference to that wallet that was taken in here. >> Listen, she's kind of >> I did my job. Put it up. >> Well, she she that ain't what she said. Okay. >> Do you want to give us your side of it? Cuz we can get down to PD and get a statement from you to give your side before you go to jail. >> Yeah, cuz I did my I did my job when it was handed to me. I turned it over and put it away. Go. >> Let's go down to the PD and we'll talk if you willing to do that. >> Yeah, cuz right a little longer. >> Just take him to the PD. >> Come on. Uh good. And put him in the uh record room. >> I'll be down there just an interview. >> Yeah, an interview. Huh? I did my job. >> Okay, we'll talk about it down there. >> What the heck? >> Hey, Ken. >> Let me talk to you. >> Said take him to the office. >> Take her to the office. I'll be right there. Okay. >> Hey, >> how you doing? >> I'm good. How are you? >> Good. Uh, we got a warrant for your arrest. So, you need to come go with us. >> Oh my god. Mr. Is there any way we can not do this right here? >> Well, the crime was committed here. >> I know. >> All right. We can rock you out and not have you in handcuffs, but is there anything else you need out of her? >> The man was identified as Kendrick, who was also an assistant manager. According to surveillance footage obtained by the officers, after serving a customer, the woman found the wallet that had been dropped and handed it to Kendrick. He then saw a large amount of cash inside the wallet. After which Wendy took the initiative and told him to place it in the bottom safe, which could only be accessed by management. With all of this seemingly impossible to deny, the man was still trying to appear innocent. That's why I want you to be honest with me cuz I don't want to start cuz these bad days. I understand that and that's why I want to get your side of this thing and cuz she has the manager has spilled her guts and you are part of it. But let me let me read you this before I can talk to you. Okay. It's Miranda and you've heard this before. >> I know about it store. Let me be honest with you. >> I got a word about [snorts] 5:00 that day. >> Yeah. >> By the time I get there, I think who was >> Hold on. Let me ask you this. I want you to swear and affirm. Everything you're going to tell be the truth. Bless your memory. So I help you, God. >> I play this on my kids. Everything I'm going to tell me is truth. >> Okay. But I brought you down here cuz I want to get your side of it because she's told her side of it and she's everything she's told us cooperates with the video. I don't want you to tell me something and I already know what the video shows cuz the video don't lie, does it? I mean, it tells video tells the truth. >> I got to work about 5. >> Okay. So what happened was I called I told him I'm run a little late cuz I had my kids. Mikey came up with a wallet. >> Yeah, I know Mikey. He's on the video. >> Hold up. Mikey come with a wallet. So she hand me the W. First thing I do, I'm searching seeking out find identity. So I can search him on Facebook. Okay. >> So after that, I can't find nothing. So what I do, I get ready to put it in the safe. >> So you couldn't find any identification or anything in the wallet? >> I couldn't. back in. But um so what happened was I was putting in the safe. >> Okay. >> She was like, "Don't put it right there." I'm like, "What? What other part I'm put at?" She like, "Put it in the bottom part." Right. The bottom part. I ain't know nothing about that. >> He was trying to put all the blame on Wendy, showing no intention of taking responsibility and seemingly feeling no shame about lying, prompting the officers to warn him about the evidence they had. >> How much cash did you receive out of that money? >> Not nothing. >> Come on. I put this on my soul. >> You want to be You want to be the truth. I You know, >> you might talk about that wall right there besides talking to me cuz I know I know better. I have the truth. >> I I do not believe you. Sitting right here eye to eye. You're not telling me the truth. >> You're not telling me the truth. >> I want you to be truthful. Sometimes admitting to what you did goes a long ways. And I don't have I don't have I didn't I could have told them to just take you straight to jail. Not not even come down here to to give you a chance. And if you if you don't want this chance to talk to me about this, >> then we can get up and go ahead and leave. >> Mr. >> Yeah. >> I'm I'm at the point in my life now. I want you to hear me. >> Okay. >> I want you to be I want man to man. >> Manto man. >> I'm at a point in my life I probably made some mistakes at life. >> Yep. But if I give somebody my word, my word is and I'm being truthful with you. >> It's not how do you think we've manipulated video? >> No, I did say that. >> I mean I mean explain I mean explain that. I mean I I don't know how to explain it to tell you that that video is all in that store and even going down there when the store's closed or everything if y'all go back in that store video is going to pick it up. that that video is not shut off. Want to be truthful? I'm going to sit here for a minute. If not, there's no sense in us sitting here. You got things. You know, >> that's not going to my kid. >> I understand you got kids. >> Kendrick and Wendy were both charged with grand theft for the theft of the customer's wallet and money. Trying to shift the blame may only make things worse when the evidence tells a different story. When the facts are already documented, taking responsibility is far better than continuing to deny what happened. Next, this woman thought she was entitled to free food from a convenience store on your back. >> No. >> Stop. Stop. Stop. >> This is cruelty, bro. >> Stop. >> This is cruelty, bro. Now y'all going to lock me up? >> Well, now we are. >> No, you ain't. On the 11th of April 2023, officers approached a woman walking along a highway despite the danger after she was linked to an earlier food theft at a nearby convenience store. But what was surprising was that she had an unbelievable reason for it. >> Huh? >> Y'all know I'm the boss of this. >> And you don't know what? >> Uh-uh. I'm 2239. This all mine. I created this. >> What does that mean? >> I'm Japanese. >> Okay. >> So, y'all cannot touch me. Never. >> Did we take something from them? >> Yes. Y'all took something from me. I No. Y'all took something from me. >> Listen, y'all took something from me. I should not have to pay for my food that I created. >> Oh, yeah. >> Because I'm I'm young. I'm Japanese. I made this. I'm not Chinese. So, if y'all want to be for the Chinese, look, could you please stay right there? >> Yes. >> Do not leave. >> I won't. >> An employee [snorts] was already on the scene. And according to his statement, this clearly wasn't the first time the woman had caused trouble. >> She done this before recently. She came in, she got food. She was hiding, eating it. I came around. I'm sitting on the floor. I said, "You can't be sitting here." I said, "We have tables here. You have to pay for it." She walked up to the register, had her Gatorade and drink. I rang her up. She said, she kept standing there, didn't say anything. I said, "I told her the defeat of the total." And she said, "You might as well call the cops cuz I ain't got any money." She walked out. She's got some >> Oh, yeah. I've dealt with her a few times. Do you want to press charges? >> Yeah, we want to press charges. What's your first name? >> Canal. >> Uh, do you have the approximate value of whatever? >> Uh, it was uh 1856. >> 1856. >> Um, do you are you able to pull the footage? >> Um, I'm trying to call it the security guy was there earlier, the camera guy to fix something. So, he's lo we're logged out right now. So, I'm trying to contact him to get the the login stuff, but I'll be able to get it to you >> once you get it. Yeah. I'm going to give you a get you a case number and all that and I'll get you some information. I'm going to need that and then um >> Okay, obviously you can ID. >> As the officers began questioning her, she insisted that she had created the food, but her explanation for how she did it only made the situation more confusing. >> I'm getting aggravated. This don't make no sense. >> She No, I created this. >> You You What did you do? >> You go in the kitchen and make it or what? >> No. >> How' you How'd you create it? No, no. That's not my business to tell y'all. My best You offered Hey, Uhuh. Don't. >> You're telling me? >> No. I was not um abusive or nothing. I ain't said nothing to y'all. Y'all at my counter. >> Okay. >> I'm not on your account. >> I was in my car before this. I wasn't at >> No, but your but your man keep calling you. But you keep popping up here, right? >> I'm not really sure what that means. >> No, you in Japanese land, bro. Like this [ __ ] make me sick. >> Okay, >> I need to go home. But y'all just thinking I owe y'all something I don't. Real quick, >> I didn't ask you for anything. >> No, you this my fool. What are you here for? >> They said you took it. >> I ain't put my hands on them. You know you sign a petition. Them them are your kids. So what are your kid? I don't Listen, I don't owe them no language. >> Okay. >> So do not come here if they only know your language. So if Alex Chey only know my language, I'm obligated to make sure that he's straight cuz that's my main priority. He and the rest of them not my main priorities. I don't have any dealing with them. That's your job. Please stop harassing me. >> She claimed that she was the one being harassed, completely shifting the focus away from the theft investigation. Even as the officers tried to bring the conversation back to the main issue, she showed no interest. >> But you can understand like stealing's wrong, right? >> How is this stealing when this >> What if I took your blanket? Would you like that? >> Oh my god. That what you've been doing. This is mine. This my food, bro. You ain't never bring me no food, bro. >> All right. All right. Do me a favor. Let's walk over here and we got to put these items on the car. >> All right. Nobody ever did nothing for me, but you want to keep locking me up, bro. >> All right. No. >> So, here's your Put your food here. >> You have anything else on you? >> No. What you want to lock me up for? >> Let me just search you. >> What you want to lock me up for? >> I don't know. We're going to find out. >> No. This is dead ass home. >> Okay. Okay. >> The officers then moved to search her, but with the tension already building, she soon caught them off guard with a chaotic display of resistance. Put your hands behind your back. No. Stop. Stop. Stop. >> This is cruelty, bro. >> Stop. >> This is cruelty, bro. Now y'all going to lock me up. >> Well, now we are. >> No, you ain't. No, you ain't. Okay. >> I mean, you ain't going to jail. >> I promise you, Lucifer, you ain't She ain't going to jail, Jesus. You going to have to let her go cuz you going to be standing out here all night. >> All right, cuz he know that. All right, I'm about to get her all her stuff at Lucifer because you dead ass wrong. She ain't getting nothing to you. She don't owe you no fool. She was nice to you. Now you going to take her with you, huh? Huh? Lucifer, you know she going to let you and you ain't going to fall. >> Have a seat. >> Thank you. >> Unbelievable. >> Um, >> is that $15 worth of stuff? >> Yeah, it's $18 total. So, so >> the woman was charged with theft and trespassing. Repeatedly denying wrongdoing or shifting blame does not make the evidence disappear. When officers are investigating a theft, refusing to cooperate can only make the situation more difficult. Before moving on to the next shoplifter, let's take a look at this chaotic arrest at a gas station. >> I don't give a hike back. >> You know what? WHERE'S THE GUN? >> ON THE 1ST of July 2026, officers were dispatched to a station after receiving a report about a vehicle occupying a handicap parking space. What seemed like a simple citation quickly turned into something much worse. Here's what happened next. >> Okay, so your wife wants to be difficult over a simple question and now she wants to make an issue of it. So, the problem that I have is I was just ask I was being courteous by asking if it was hers and instead of rolling down the window just so I could ask her, she just kept pointing to it and now she just wants to play this game with me. So, technically, I could go write her $250 ticket and I can confiscate the handicap plate for her using it when she's not using it. And it was just going to be a simple conversation of, hey, just go park the car over there. And now she wants to turn into this. >> So, let's not do that. >> I'm going to get in the car. >> Sure. and I'm going to get her driver's license and I'm going to run it and I'm going to see if she has any other priors. This is ridiculous. Like this doesn't have to be this is a simple yes or no question. >> That's she has a handicap about. >> I don't know what why >> she put it up there after I was like, "Hey, do you have it?" And she put it up there. >> I I I need to go in the store now. >> Well, no, but you're right now you're detained and you're staying with me. >> I'm detained. But I'm detained. So you don't have me pulled over >> for a violation of the handicap law. So right now I want your driver's license. >> I'm not violating anything. You don't have any lights on me. >> You don't have me pulled over. Sir, >> you are stopped. I am telling you in uniform that you are being stopped and detained right now. >> For what? >> For a violation of the handicap placard. >> You want to bother me for nothing, sir? I'm sitting here batting my business. I didn't bother you. I didn't say nothing. >> You're right. You're absolutely right. You're absolutely right. You want to bother me for nothing. >> Like I told your husband, I noticed the placard wasn't in the window. You don't have a handicap plate. I ask you about it. You hang it up there. I ask you if it's yours. You just keep pointing it to me. You won't answer any questions. >> What you said, sir. My window is up. >> I asked you to roll the window down >> and I let it Well, WHEN YOU LET IT DOWN, I SAY, "YES, I SEE IT. My current driving." >> The officer explained the issue they needed to address, but the woman had no intention of cooperating from the start, causing the situation to escalate and becoming increasingly uncooperative. >> "What does my license have to do with anything?" >> Because you're the occupant of the running vehicle with that handicap. So, I'm going to issue you >> then what? >> I'm going to issue you the citation. >> If I'm not in here, then anymore? Then what? Then what? >> I'm going to issue me the citation for me to go to court for >> That's after the fact. >> You're You're not in violation. >> That's after the fact. I want your driver's license. >> What? >> Because I'm going to write you a citation for violating the handicap placard. I've explained it to you twice. >> I'm not violating. >> You're using the handicap spot that you're not using. So, it's very simple. I can get your driver's license and write you a petty ticket >> or I can arrest you. I really don't want to do that. I just want to write the ticket and go, but you want to be argumentative. So, here >> it is. >> Robbie, call your kids. Tell them to come home. I'm >> Here it is. Driver's license or jail. The choice is yours. If you're going to run away, I'm going to go get a warrant for your arrest. >> Get out of the car. >> The woman's refusal to cooperate was putting her at risk of being charged with obstruction, something the officer had already warned her about. At this point, they had made it clear that she would not be allowed to simply leave. >> Get out of the car. Get out of the car now. >> Get out of the car now. Get out of the car now. Get out of the car now. I'm going to break the window. >> Back off. Don't stand over there. >> Get out of the car now. Get out of the car. You are under arrest. Get out of the car. You are under arrest. Get out of the car. >> Get out of the car. You are under arrest. Get out of the car. You are under arrest. Get out of the car. >> You are under arrest. Get out of the car. You are UNDER ARREST. BACK UP. BACK UP. >> Don't Don't put your hands on me. >> I done put my hands on you. Back up. >> Get out of here now. Back up now. Back up. Get out now. >> Back up. GET OUT NOW. YOU'RE GOING TO BE UNDER ARREST, TOO. The man intervened in the situation, making himself part of the problem as well. From there, everything quickly escalated. >> Turn around. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> You know what? >> Taser. Taser. Taser. Taser. >> Get back. You're going to get it, too. >> Taser deployment. >> Sit down. >> Turn around. Put your HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. YOU ARE UNDER ARREST. I got the coffee. >> All right. >> You crazy. >> You crazy, [ __ ] >> I didn't do nothing. >> I ain't did nothing. >> You are under arrest. >> Did nothing. >> I just come from a funeral. >> You sitting up here. >> You ain't nobody. >> Ain't nobody did nothing. >> You are under arrest. >> What? >> For obstructing. I've said it a 100 times now. >> AM I OBSTRUCTING? >> YOU [ __ ] ain't right. >> Yeah. Well, too bad. I don't give a >> Yeah, you seems right. >> Y'all are hurry up. Get your daddy down on the ground and they trying to arrest me for nothing. >> My jewelry. >> Let me get my jewelry off. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> For what? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind [laughter] your back. >> Behind your back. >> I've explained it to you, >> sir. I >> put your hand behind your back under arrest. What? >> What do you mean? >> You are doing that to me. Just listen. Just listen. >> Stop doing this to me. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Hey, ma'am. Ma'am, >> we don't >> just put your hands behind your back. >> WHERE'S THE GUN? >> YOU JUST SAID YOU HAVE A GUN. >> Amid the intense struggle, neither showed any clear signs of being handicapped. Yet, the woman's main concern was changing her clothes, not the situation she was facing. >> You don't have anything on you? I got blood on me. >> Where do you have Where do you have blood? >> On my [ __ ] >> All right. Well, that's interesting. >> It's very interesting. I'm trying to get home to change myself. That's all I'm trying to do. Sitting here to change myself. TRYING TO GET HOME TO change myself. >> All right, we can go over here. >> For what? >> Uh, you're being placed in the back of the squad card to figure out what's going on. >> Over on the uh >> Just watch your head. stepping. >> We'll get him over there. >> I ain't do nothing. I'm going to move to the park from the man. >> All right. You want me to double lock them? >> Y'all took my phone and everything. >> Hey, can you can you just step out so I can double lock them so they don't cinch up on you in the car? >> What you mean? >> The handcuffs. I got to double lock them >> so they don't get tighter on you. >> Yeah. So they don't get tighter on you. >> So I got to just adjust the fit so they're not too tight on you. All right. >> This is a trying to move to the next car over. Y'all broke my husband's chain and everything. Y'all bogus is here. >> We did what? >> Y'all broke his chain and everything. Y'all vocal. Y'all bogus. Ain't nobody done nothing. >> Some of us just showed up. So, we don't even know what was going on. >> I ain't done nothing. I ain't done nothing. I'm sitting in my car. My husband come out and y'all do all of this. I'mma move to out the parking spot. Let me get out the parking spot. It's a problem. Let me get out the parking spot. >> You shouldn't park at a handicap spot then. >> Why can't I if I'm handicapped? >> Are you handicapped? >> Yes, I am. >> Yes, I am. You have a placer. >> Don't you see it in the car? >> It sounds like it went further than just the handicap. It's >> in the car. >> All right. >> Okay. >> Have a seat. >> In the end, both suspects were charged with invalid handicap permit, resisting arrest, battery on an officer, and obstructing justice. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a simple situation into a much more serious one. When officers give clear instructions, continuing to resist can only make the consequences worse. Next, these women had no choice but to give up their false stories. >> So, for sure you have one warrant. You might also have another one. So, you might have two warrants. >> Okay. You have the money to pay for the items. >> Yeah. >> But why are we why are we trying to get a fast one in Walmart? I don't know. >> Like, why? On the 23rd of April 2023, police approached a vehicle that had just left Walmart after the two women inside were suspected of being involved in a theft reported moments earlier. But when questioned, both women denied even being at the store. >> Hello, I'm off the Ros Police Department. The reason I'm stopping you is do you guys have a little incident at Walmart right now at all? >> No. >> You guys weren't coming from Walmart? >> Okay. >> Okay. Do you have your driver's license? The reason I'm here is cuz they had a shop looking okay. They described a white hatchback Chevy car. kind of what you have. Oh, >> okay. Well, still my name. >> Okay. Were you up there at all? >> Uh, no. >> Okay. Can you You have an ID on you, ma'am? >> Yeah. >> Do you have one, too? >> Uh, no. No. >> You don't have one? >> No. No. >> Okay. >> Well, we don't have nothing to sell anything. >> Okay. So, you weren't at Walmart at all? >> Yeah, we were. We didn't sell nothing. >> Okay. Well, just cuz you didn't steal anything doesn't mean that's not a problem. >> Okay. Both women denied having any involvement with a problem at Walmart, but after speaking over the radio with the officer, they heard a very different story about what had happened. >> Hello. >> What's up, man? >> Hey, Damian. This is Officer Stella. How you doing? I got the car. I got the girls. Okay. Was it the girl in the light the the light blue like dress? >> Yeah, it was Yeah. Stay feeding a light blue dress and white fear wearing a denim shorts and a black jacket >> with a red top. >> Yeah. >> Did they have a third friend with them that's kind of on the larger side? >> No. They're the only two that we saw in the store. They're the only two we saw getting a vehicle. >> Okay. And they they were swapping barcodes and whatnot. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Um I'll be up there shortly. Okay. I'm going to detain these guys right here and I'm going to take them up there. I'm going to look at that um the footage. Okay. And then we'll move forward from there. All right. If you can just get all that prepared for me. >> Right on. >> And then uh we'll address it. All right. >> Sounds good. Thank you. >> Awesome. Bye. >> Take care. >> It seemed the investigation had confirmed what happened and police then moved to detain them. Surprisingly, neither woman appeared to object. >> Can you step out the car for me, ma'am? >> For what? >> Cuz I'm telling you to step back here for me. Okay. >> Can you put your phone in the car? >> Yeah. >> Put your hands right back from your foot. >> Am I getting arrested? >> At this point in time, you're just detained. Okay. Relax. Relax. Thank you. >> Hang on. Okay. You want me to roll the window down, please? Let's go to the front of the car for me. Okay. Go ahead and face the car for me. So, I'm going to be straight up with you. You got a warrant. Okay. >> Let me see your Let me see your hands behind your back for me. >> So, you have a warrant. Okay. Also, we're going to address this uh Walmart. Okay. >> Get in there for me. >> Watch your head. There you go. All right. Hang tight. All right. Police then explained to the women why they were being detained, and one of them did not seem surprised at all. Almost as if she already knew exactly why she was being taken into custody. >> Having read those rights, do you understand your rights? Understand your rights? Are you willing to talk to me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, clearly you're at Walmart, right? >> Yeah. >> You guys went in there. It was just you and >> Can I pay for all the stuff that >> Listen, it was you and Tammy, right? >> That went in there cuz she stayed in the car, right? >> Well, yeah, we all went in there. Then she went >> Oh, she just didn't walk with you guys. >> No. >> Huh? No. >> Okay. So, you and Tammy kind of walked together within the store? >> Yeah. >> Y'all were switching barcodes on things? >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, I I don't even know the items. What were the items that you guys were switching? >> Clothes. >> Clothes. Trying to just swap the the clothes out for cheap items. >> Yeah. >> Were you guys going to pay for the items at the cheaper rate? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, can I pay for all the stuff? >> Let me Let me So, here's what's going to happen. Okay. I do have to take you to Walmart. I have to see the footage to confirm that it is you. Okay. Right now, I I believe it to be you. Okay. We've talked. I mean, clearly you were there. I'm going to look at the footage. Okay. I'm on top of Walmart. They do want to press charges, okay? But if they want to work out some kind of different deal or something like that, then that's that's going to be their behalf. Okay? If they they're like, I want to press charges, then we're going to have to address that. How we have to address that, okay? >> Huh? >> Either you be jail or a citation. Okay? So, I'm going to have to talk with Tammy. Okay. >> I can pay for all this stuff. >> Okay. Just hang on. Okay. But for the other woman, things became even more serious when officers checked her information and discovered a problem she already had on record. >> Um >> 18. Okay. I just wanted to make sure. >> Um sit back for me and then look that way. >> So for sure you have one warrant. You might also have another one. So you might have two warrants. >> Okay. But for sure you have one warrant. One's for failure to pay fines and then the other one we don't know yet. Uh, as far as I'm concerned, that's the only word I have. >> That's the only words cuz, uh, I had talked to the judge and he said I had a 90day thing. I paid the mark and then they called me early April saying that I didn't pay and I told him that I did and then she told me that I would just have to talk to the judge. That's what I was waiting on. >> Yeah. So, you're that one is for you to pay fines and then my dispatch is confirming right now to see if you have a second one at a state police. Okay. So, just hang tight. Okay. Clearly you guys are at Walmart. You and Ameilia were in the store together walking around. Okay. Were you guys switching barcodes on clothes and stuff? >> Um, no. >> No. Okay. So, if I go look at the video footage, it's not going to show that. Okay. So, what were you guys doing in the store then? >> Um, well, I have a baby shower at >> other stuff that I could possibly give to. >> Okay. And um what happened with Walmart where they pretty much stopped you guys from taking whatever you guys have? >> Um they didn't take anything. We were uh going to scan and I guess I don't know what happened. Something about pants. So the lady had said that we had only uh t-shirt scan that we didn't scan the pants. So she was like, "All right, well what about pants?" And then she was like, "Well, this you don't have the right bar code on it." And she was like and I asked I was like, "Okay, well is there like another parent like you go get another pair? Swap it out. Get another child." Mhm. >> And she was like, uh, she radioed someone, uh, and then we were just like, "It's okay. Never mind. We're just going to go." >> Okay. So, they Okay, so here's what's going to happen. Okay. We're going to take you guys to Walmart. Okay. >> Walmart's [snorts] camera footage quickly disproved the woman's explanation, showing multiple items being placed into bags without ever being brought over to be scanned. >> Millia, I watched the video. I saw the entire thing. All right. You scan You scan two items and then you just start reaching across and putting them in the bags. Okay. there. You weren't attempting to scan them. It's not what it looks like at all. Okay. Home girl has makeup and all kinds of stuff in the cart. Okay. You give her a bag. She starts putting in that bag. Never even left the cart to be attempted to scan. Okay. Who put the the the different barcodes on the diapers? >> Um I'm not sure. >> Okay. You're not sure? >> Yeah. It might have I don't know cuz we're just grabbing things. >> You're just grabbing things. Okay. >> Yeah. Those diapers are for um >> So, let for baby shower. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, let me ask you this. Okay. You have the money to pay for the items. >> Yeah. >> But why are we why are we trying to get a fast one in Walmart? >> I don't know. >> Like why? >> I don't know. >> You see what I'm saying? Like if you have the money to to take care of your business, right? Is is it worth all this trouble we're in right now? >> You got the cops involved. You could have just bought your stuff and been on your way to this baby shower. I'm sure that's where you're going to, right? >> Okay. But now we're here and we got the cops involved with something that you could have paid for. >> Can I pay for it all now? >> I can pop in there and talk with them. If they decline that, then that's going to be their decision. Okay? I'll ask them. Okay? I'll I'll ask them if they they're okay with that. They may say no. If they say no, then we're going to have to go the criminal route here. Okay? >> So, here's what's going to happen. Okay? She's going to jail regardless. Okay? Let me pop in your ass if if they're okay with you paying for all the items or not. If they are, then cool. If not, then we're going to address it the other way, which is criminal way. Okay? And then that will decide what we're going to do with you. Okay? I just want to let you know you do have two warrants for sure. >> Oh, >> okay. One's out of state police for contempt of court and then the other is out of here magistrate court for No, you did >> contempt of court. So, you did something that the judge didn't like or you didn't follow his rules, whatever it was. Okay. So, I just wanted to kind of keep you updated updated on what's going on. All right. >> The two women were charged with shoplifting and one of them also had outstanding warrants. A simple theft can become much more serious when false explanations are contradicted by video evidence. When the evidence tells a different story, trying to deny what happened may only make the situation worse. >> My son graduates from >> That's great. I don't care. >> I have two sons at the University of Florida. I am not a homeless person. I am not somebody to be pushed around. >> On the 15th of April 2026, police were dispatched to a McDonald's after receiving a report of a woman causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the restaurant after being trespassed by staff. When officers arrived at the scene, the situation was still completely tense. >> Let's step outside. >> Let's step outside of 6 months. I have not even kicked out any McDonald's. >> Come on. Let's go outside. >> Why are you doing Let's go outside. >> Let's go outside. Let's go outside. >> Why are you DOING THE WHITE MAN'S BITTEPER? Why are you doing the white man's bitta? Why are you doing Tell him why are you doing the WHITE MAN'S BIDDING? WHY ARE you doing THE WHITE MAN'S BIDDING? WHY ARE YOU A MEMBER? >> CALM DOWN. >> Let me see your ID. >> The woman refused her final chance to walk away, so it was already too late for her to leave, but she chose to defy the officers anyway, causing the situation to escalate from there. >> No, that is not going to be the first. >> Let me see your ID. You are You are not going to leave right now. >> Okay. You're not going to put your hands on me. You're not going to put your hands on me. Put your hands behind your back. >> Stop resisting. Put your hands behind. Stop resisting. I'M NOT RESISTING. PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. Put your hands behind your back. >> I am not resisting. Stop it. >> Put your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> I AM NOT RESISTING. STOP. STOP. PLEASE STOP. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> STOP. STOP. I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING. I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING. STOP IT. STOP. I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING. >> 94. Can I get anything? >> I haven't done anything. I haven't done anything. I haven't done anything. >> Let go. >> Stop. I need my glasses. Let go. >> I have a daughter. Let go. >> Let go. 25 years. >> Stop resisting. >> I have a son at the University of Florida. I'm not a homeless person. DO NOT SAY >> I DON'T CARE. >> STOP. >> I don't care. >> Let go. >> Please don't >> let go. >> Do this. >> Let go. You're going to >> mother. I have done nothing wrong. I've done nothing wrong. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I've done nothing wrong. I've done nothing wrong. >> Behind your back. >> Stop. >> You're going to get to stop. >> She showed no sign of backing down. And this was clearly the consequence of a choice she had made herself. At this point, she even tried to play the victim by bringing up her family to gain sympathy. >> My son graduates from >> That's great. I don't care. >> You failed to identify herself. You failed to leave after being asked. >> My son graduates from the University of Florida next month. Please, sir, stop. You don't need to do this. Why are you doing this? Where's my backpack? >> Hey, Andrew. >> I need my >> Oh, never mind. >> I need my backpack. Okay, hold on. >> What is it? Can you loosen them? >> Relax. >> Those are very tight. Please loosen them. >> They're not tight. I can fit my I can't >> Look, there's a whole finger in there. >> No, it's all clear on the car. >> Afterward, one of the officers returned to the restaurant to continue gathering statements from the employees about what had happened earlier. >> She failed to leave as trespassing. She also failed to identify herself. >> So, just can you just tell me what happened before I got here? >> Yeah, no problem. >> So, I came out the lobby. There was her sitting over there and then another guy that was sitting over there that was uh I guess he was homeless or something like that. >> And then there was a family over here. So I do our rounds. Every 30 minutes we have to do our rounds. Let the customers, hey, good morning. Um you have a 30-minut time frame while consuming food and then you know you have to be off the property. 30 minute time frame. >> She didn't even consume any food. She was just sitting here using the Wi-Fi. And so she was like, "Who are you? The white gatekeeper?" Ma'am, ma'am, this is not even a confrontational thing right now. I'm just letting you know the rules is 30 minutes. Well, I travel the world and blah blah blah. Okay, well, congratulations that you travel the world. I I don't need to know all that. I just need you to know that there's a 30 minute time frame and that's it. That's all I'm coming here to do. And then that's when she got all she calling me names. Ma'am, I don't have time for that. Oh, you hate your mother. Oh, you you need to go get some. >> What names was she calling you? She called me a black. >> And then she called me a black gay dude. Then she said she just kept saying, you know, hateful things, you know. Oh, you you you here to um to control the white people and ma'am, she was like, oh, you need to be in jail somewhere where all the black people is. You know, where they want you. I'm like, ma'am, I don't care about all that. I have a degree. I I just applied for law school. I'm just waiting for them to say, >> "Yeah, I'm just waiting for my acceptance letter." That's it. So, um all that unnecessary stuff, man, >> I can't, you know, I can't engage in that. you know, there's ethical things that I have to, you know, maintain. I can't, you know, I can't do that. So, it's like the things that you're saying is very hateful and I really want to react, but in the back of my head, I'm thinking like, you're just applying for law school. So, you know, there's certain standards that you have to face. So, >> um, then I just called my said, "Can you guys just come and remove the lady?" And by the time you got here, she was already back here trying to record me. And I'm like, "Ma'am, stop recording me. You don't have permission to record me. Stop recording me." Oh, I'm recording. And that's what happened. Okay. Back with the suspect, she still showed no awareness that her actions had been wrong. Instead, she continued to play innocent, giving an unbelievable excuse for her behavior. >> I have never been kicked out of a McDonald's and I've traveled this country 6 months. I'm a journalist. I'm not a nobody. I lived in Florida for 25 years. I have two sons at the University of Florida. I am not a homeless person. I am not somebody to be pushed around. I have a master's degree. I'm educated. I'm This is I don't know why you're doing this to me. >> Why? I don't do I just got here. So, I'm just making sure everything's >> These are super tight and they're really constricting. >> All right. Well, I guess the issue was >> Why did he have to throw me down and break my glasses? Is my phone also broken? >> I don't know. I'll look into all that. I have to review everything. We have body cameras on throughout the entire counter. So, everything that happened, we'll see. Do you know why McDonald's called us about you? because the for for days I have been working here. My >> you working at McDonald's? >> I'm a I'm a digital nomad. I'm a I'm a journalist and I'm also here because my son graduates from the University of Florida in May next month. I came down I also have another son, a freshman there as well and I came down to be a mom and to take a little vacation. >> Okay. >> I have been through a lot. I explained to the man that my mother was murdered. I have been taking a a journey to to deal with the grief of that. >> What's the connection if you ask your wife? >> My mother used to my grandmother used to be a corporter here. >> Without realizing that she was the one who had caused the entire situation, she continued portraying herself as the victim, even turning around and accusing the officer instead. >> The body cam footage will tell everything. They went full force on me. No, it's not comfortable in [laughter] here. Do me a favor and kind of turn as much as you can and let me get some better pictures. Okay, >> they went full force on me and there was no need to do that to a 53 woman. A 50-year-old 53 woman. How dare they? That is abuse. [laughter and gasps] >> Okay. All right. You can face forward for me for one more second. loosen these so that they don't cut into my wrists, please. Just a little bit, please. >> Okay, keep [laughter] your hands together like you're praying. And they're they're real loose. Okay, >> they're not they're they're driving into my can you please give me water, please? Just give me a drink of water, please. [laughter] [laughter] >> Is this Is this what you do? 87 81.38781.31. >> So sir, I'm a I'm a mother of two sons, 25 years living in Florida. >> And this is how this is your big accomplishment of the day. Is it? Is this your big accomplishment of the day? A 5-3 woman brutalizing a 5-3 woman. Take sadistic pleasure in. >> In the end, the woman was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. The lesson is simple. Refusing to leave when you've been trespassed can quickly turn a minor situation into an arrest. Fighting with officers and playing the victim only made the consequences worse. Worse, the man continued creating a chaotic situation that became increasingly difficult for officers to control. >> Take me to jail. >> For what? On the 28th of August, 2025, police officers approached a man named Richard at a grocery store after receiving reports that he was causing a disturbance by repeatedly yelling and pouring milk on himself and others. He appeared to be in an unstable mental state, so officers immediately took action to control the situation. >> What's going on? in jail. >> For what? >> Helping. >> I got him. I got >> one. >> It might still blow up. >> I don't know. I'm not really sure. Go grab your H. >> God damn. >> What are you doing? Stop. >> What are you doing? >> I'm not moving. >> Why are you doing >> Why are you doing this? >> Um, it's it's for a goddamn uh [ __ ] ass [ __ ] >> That's what >> That's what Hey, mother. Hey. Yes, sir. You hit me here. I love you. We were out with them last night. >> The officers successfully detained the man, but he showed no signs of stopping. He continued making aggressive remarks and unintentionally admitted that he had used multiple types of drugs. Needle in my back, dog. >> Richard, >> you did. >> Stop. >> You did, mother. >> Richard, nobody has a needle. >> Okay. All right. You're welcome. >> What did you take? >> Um, whole bunch of little bit of acid, a little bit molly, some coke, some goddamn I did a whole freak of cocaine. If you do that one more time, >> nobody's doing anything. [clears throat] I'm already Move your legs. >> Yep. >> I keep doing that. Pushing it in my [ __ ] leg. >> Immediately afterward, the man's embarrassing behavior continued. However, with his legs restrained, he no longer had to walk on his own. >> Bo, stand up. Ah, what? >> God damn it. >> God damn, I hurt you mother. >> Hey yo, there. >> God damn it. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Ow. Godamn needle, dude. What the >> [ __ ] hurt? >> Stop taking out your mag. >> Stop. Okay. Okay. Okay. Godamn it. Stop. Stop it. >> Hey, you know what? I bet the mother uh president will love me. President Trump, >> I need your help. >> What are you doing? >> RICK FLAIR. >> RICK FLAIR THAT [ __ ] >> RICK FLAIR. COME ON. LET'S get in the car, Richard. >> After placing him in the patrol vehicle, one of the officers returned to the store and began gathering statements from the employees about the man's actions in order to collect evidence for the case. >> I can actually do it right now without you. Oh, okay. >> You know what kind of milk it was? >> The half gallon milk. >> Just one. >> I believe it was just the one. That's the only one I saw him with in his hands. >> I don't know if he had another one. >> Someone said whoever called in said he was pouring it on himself. >> He on himself all like throwing it like >> So, was it more than one? Was it all just one ball? Is it all just a half gallon? >> Yeah. >> Are they all the same price? >> It's a one half gallon of milk is what he was pouring. >> It's only one destroyed milk. I didn't. We did a walk. >> No, just put milk everywhere. [laughter] >> That's enough. >> I want to tell y'all's turn around time was real quick. >> We were actually like I saw here and then next thing. >> Next thing I knew I had like six of you guys were like here. I was like, "All right." >> Thank you. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Um, so you just saw him? Yeah, it was literally right at the same section right before you guys. >> This was literally seconds before we got here. >> All right, cool. I don't think I should have to get a statement from you. >> It did not stop there. A person close to the suspect also arrived at the scene and her statement further confirmed the man's unstable condition. >> I know her. >> What happened? >> He's not It's not He went in there and started showing his ass. He poured milk all over himself. He's throwing [ __ ] everywhere. >> Okay, listen. >> What did he get? >> Yeah. What did he tell? He's been cracked out on >> Okay. >> for like 4 days. I've been trying to do stay. >> How come you didn't talk to me last night when we were there? >> Cuz he wasn't making no sense last night. Hey, you need to move your truck. Will you pull that way? That way they can drive by. >> I don't even know. >> He's tripping crazy right now. >> I know. He needs to He needs to come down. when he's I've been trying to get him to lay down and sit down to calm down to just chill a minute, you know, I'm like, "Oh my god, I always do, you know, time." So, I just let him go and I just He's just he went to jail for 60 days. He got out and got out and his that time he was in there, you know, the level came down, you know, he came off of it. >> Yeah. and he went behind just >> he's just been ever since. >> He's been out there. >> He's been out there. >> He's right now he's either going to be bakered. I don't I don't know what happened whenever they first got in the store with him, but he's not been compliant. He's been pretty he's been pretty uh not right now. Medical has to talk to him. Okay. When officers returned to the suspect, he continued banging inside the patrol vehicle and spitting everywhere, causing the officers to once again face a tense situation as they tried to figure out how to deal with him. >> Oh, look at that. Oh, look at that. Look, this >> knock it off. >> Come on up now. It's a short 656. We'll have another charger battery on the other. >> Put a shirt over his head so he can't spit anybody's face again. >> I love it, baby. Oh my god. >> Oh [ __ ] Ladies and gentlemen, All right. All right. Ready? Yes, sir. You are the ONLY I I love that crazy. >> The man was charged with disorderly conduct in criminal mischief for causing a disturbance in damaging store property. This incident shows that refusing to cooperate and allowing emotions or substance use to control your actions can quickly turn a minor situation into serious legal consequences. >> Filter scoo pulls all the big bills. Put them in a single bag. >> That wasn't very slick. Not at all. Turn off. >> Turn around, please. >> Turn off one, please. >> I can't believe this is happening. >> On the 22nd of January, 2023, police received a report of a theft involving $26,000 at Target. The suspect was allegedly one of the store's own employees. When officers arrived at the scene, the loss prevention team explained every detail of the incident to them. >> So, what is she supposed to be doing? >> So, what she's supposed to be doing is she processes the safe. She writes it all down on this little piece of paper and then she's supposed to go through each one of these bags individually and then put all the money from the bag inside of this machine. She should have no money on her whatsoever. >> Okay. >> No money comes out of that that that office. >> Okay. >> What does she How have y'all caught her? What have y'all seen? >> Yes. So, here we can go in my office. I can do another video. Essentially, we got an email from our investigation center um 2 days ago that this team member was flagging for um like shortages in our cash office process. Um >> you want to do that or you want to watch it? Um, so we have obviously we'll have all the evidence and they ran out for you, but essentially while she's doing the cash office process, she is um filtering like she's pulling the high bills from those bags, >> putting [clears throat] them and keeping them in a bag, rolling that bag up, concealing it into a cardboard box, and then when she's done with the cash office process, bring that box to the restroom, emptying it on her person somewhere, and then throwing that empty box away. So yesterday we did a full review of everything. Um and we even like pulled the trash bagged and tagged up there. Um so we can confirm that she left with cash and emptied it in the bathroom. Um she's been doing this. We only have video retention for 30 days. So for the last two off >> the $26,000 in losses over just 30 days was hard to believe, but it was all carried out by just one person. Target employees had even recovered the surveillance footage as evidence. >> Um I [clears throat] told him back you vacation. >> Yeah, we moved all of his cameras and they come back and his office >> is just cuz we did all the time >> cuz I ended up calling you guys cuz I worked with JBP before and under their jurisdiction all employee theft they have to get a warrant before they can even talk to somebody. So, I have to called you guys to make sure you guys could actually come out here. >> Oh, yeah. If you got proof, we can >> Yeah. I was like, I don't know what your jurisdiction does. >> Oh, yeah. >> So, she filters through, pulls all the big bills, puts them in a single bag. >> That wasn't very slow. Not at all. >> Big bills. >> Oh, no. >> There. >> Are you guys checking out today's? But we had yesterday's >> where do those bags come from? >> These are all from different registers. So this >> Okay. So those are those are pulls from different >> Yes. Everything is labeled according to the register. So today's actually Yeah. She decides on the fills there for her, >> but she'll go through each bag and filters. So then she transfers it into this bag which is registered. getting right at it. 82 there >> and then put it inside this cardboard box right there and then she'll leave the cash off where I go to the bathroom. There we go. >> That's the bag. >> Yep. >> So when she puts the bag right there, that's when she This is where you're going to watch it. Right here. She's looking at that box. >> Yeah. So, >> there's a box over there. She's going to >> So, the penny box is where she's going to stuff it. But now, we're going to you're going to see, God, I got this. >> They then explained how Target planned to obtain the woman's confession. >> She goes in the bathroom. >> Mhm. Puts one in her purse. She goes out for a smoke prank. >> She goes out to her car. Okay. This is where she jumps right. >> It's either in her car or she holds on to it for the day. But we can't So she walks out right now. She's going to have a box. >> So yes, what we're going to do in the box right now is what I'm saying. >> So she's going to the cash. >> We're going to let her go to the bathroom and we're going to let her throw it away. As soon as she throws it away, Target is going to her to do our interview. It's a whole process. Depends on how compliant you're going to be. over there. It's >> consensual. >> Um, so my goal, I'm going to be interviewing her. My goal is to get her to admit to it. She might she might not. >> Um, have a little certification on how to get her to talk to it. So, we'll see. Um, >> we have you guys have your ways. I have >> the back. [laughter] >> Um, so I'm going to get to attempt to get her to admit to the fact. Um, she might have it, she might not. And then at the end of my conversation with her, we will tell her employment and then at that point we'll turn it over to you. Um [clears throat] you guys are welcome to hang out in the office. I don't know if that's going to be a five-minute conversation or an hour conversation. Really depends on how long how much she wants to talk. >> While waiting for the suspect to go to the restroom, the officers spoke with the store manager who revealed that she did not seem to be wellliked by her co-workers either. >> Crazy. >> Are you serious? >> She's literally I've never I'm like a pretty good person. I hate her with every prior to she quit today's sheet. >> She hates me. >> I'm a pretty solid person. >> All right. everyone. >> She's like >> whenever I have to like coach other performance manager. >> Yeah. >> She immediately yells like yells like, "Can you sit down, please?" And like tries to bolt a bit on my mouth. Just just a minute. >> Throw a mouse at somebody. >> Like what am I going to do? >> Why? >> Just piss somebody off. >> Make me mad. >> Yeah. >> In my backyard. >> That's what you know like how much she's probably >> cuz she's worked here 10 years. >> That's not >> And she's she's like the HR admin. She works in HR. She's part of >> she's being a guard like assistant. >> After that, they approached the woman in the interview room and immediately handcuffed her. But what was even more surprising was her attitude as if her crime was nothing serious. >> Can you stand up for me? >> Don't turn off. You got any? >> No. Turn off. >> Turn around, please. >> Turn around, please. I can't believe this is happening. >> Let you know. Okay. >> Is that too tight? >> I don't know. >> Give me one sec. >> Got the watch on. Don't do this. >> All right, turn around for me. Anything that's going to stick me? >> No. >> All right, turn around for me. >> Turn around, please. >> Turn around for me, please. >> I can't believe this is happening. being detained. >> In the end, the woman was arrested and charged with secondderee felony grand theft for stealing approximately $26,000 from Target over a 30-day period. The lesson from this case is that abusing a position of trust can quickly turn a workplace theft into a serious felony. No matter how long someone gets away with stealing, surveillance and careful evidence collection can eventually expose the scheme. >> You just seem kind of like nonchalant about it. I would be very upset if I was in your position. >> Not because you >> and it's going to be in the front. >> Really? You're going to embarrass me in front of all of my >> I'm not I'm not going to embarrass you. >> Okay. >> On the 4th of April, 2024, police were called to a Home Depot after a female cashier employee was discovered using her cashier ID to facilitate a customer taking merchandise without paying. Upon arriving at the scene, her co-workers also provided further details about the incident. >> It's been going on at least since September. >> Okay. We didn't know until >> um so she was we have a thing where you can like let's say you scan something twice you can remove one thing >> right >> um >> that's how she got caught >> cuz she scanned something twice removed it same customer every single time um and then at that point she passed two plants um but since then she's passed $5700 worth in September >> okay >> um to the same customer uh she claims she doesn't know that Right. She claims she does that. She agrees that it happened because I did my homework, but she doesn't remember any of it. >> Okay. >> So, uh the interesting thing is the other associate that she passed merchandise to works for that customer. Okay. Part time. So, but she claims she didn't know that either. >> [laughter] >> She was telling me that um whoever this customer is corporate's going to be >> we'll go after her as well. Yeah. >> Right. >> Uh she actually owns an animal hospital really close to here. I'm assuming that's where all is hospital. But >> um >> so that's what I'm taking is >> flooring paint and then it's uh the most recent one March 9th was a DeWalt table saw >> and some tile. So she's obviously renovating something. I don't know if it's I didn't go to the clinic. I don't know if it's a clinic or a house or I have no idea. It was difficult to determine the motive behind the woman's actions as it appeared that she did not even need the money. The man also confirmed that she was working multiple paid jobs. >> Uh she also apparently works for something with the school board part time. So she may >> she's making great choices, >> guys. But hopefully not teacher that's teaching my kids, man. Hopefully not. >> You're [laughter] [snorts] Lena, right? >> Yes. >> Hey, I'm officer Branch of the Palm Bay Police Department. You know why I'm talking to you? >> Excuse me. Do you know why I'm speaking with you today? >> No. >> Okay. So, um [snorts] I know that you were just terminated from Home Depot. They ended up calling us uh in regard to what has been going on. >> Okay. Um and basically, I would just like to to ask you if you'd like to speak with us. >> Okay. Okay. So, basically, they would like to pursue charges um on this. So, I'm just going to read you your Miranda warning. >> Okay. >> Okay. If you want to get more comfortable and set your stuff down, you absolutely can. Um, [snorts] but I'll just read you Miranda warning and then we can go from there. Okay, >> you can read them, too. [snorts] >> Just that I have my diabetic um monitor on my phone and >> totally totally understand and I just need What time is it cuz my >> uh right now it's about 12:24. >> I'm okay till 1. >> She remained completely calm in the face of the theft allegations against her. In fact, the value of the stolen merchandise was far from insignificant. >> So, in regard in regard to this, I mean, is reportedly $5,700. >> That's what they're saying. >> Okay. Well, tell me tell me your side. >> I can't recall their name. He named some person random person that I have no knowledge of and he says that it was ongoing and it was only that particular custom never anyone else. >> Okay. Before um I keep asking some questions. Do you mind getting your driver's license out? >> As far as you know the things that you're saying you don't call. Did they explain to you? Did they explain to you the the method that you were using to attain certain things? >> Yeah, but they're only showing me one customer. I mean, they pertaining to one particular person that I supposedly be doing this, but I have no recollection of who they are. >> Okay. What was the method that they were saying that you were using? >> Um, scanning three items and not the rest. Um, letting things walk out the door. I >> I don't have that practice with anybody. So >> that practice with anybody else supposedly out of all the thousands of scans that I've done, >> right? >> It's just just one particular person >> and I don't recollect that person. >> She denied knowing the people she allegedly allowed to take merchandise for free, as if suggesting that she was simply giving items away out of kindness to random people. She even continued making clever statements about her jobs. >> How long have you been employed with? >> Five years. >> Five years. >> Have [snorts] you been in trouble for anything like this before? >> No, I worked for a doctor for 15 years and he retired recently back in 2019. >> You worked for who again? >> A doctor. I was working for a doctor. He was an eye surgeon. He retired and I came to work here. So, five years. How long have you lived in Palm Bay? >> Uh, about 20. >> Do you have any any friends that are currently doing a remodeling? >> No. And my house doesn't need Well, my house needs remodeling, but I haven't uh started any procedure on that yet. >> So, why do you believe that they are saying that you're doing this? >> I have no idea. If I were to give you a name of someone who supposedly has all of these items, would you tell me if >> I know them? >> Mhm. >> Sure. >> What's the name of the person? >> No, I don't know what everybody. That's the name he gave me in there as well. I don't know. Never. I have no association with her. I've ever met her. Don't know even what she looks like because he didn't show me any of the photos. It just seems a little weird that they, you know, would call us, they'd go through the process. >> That's fine. It's It's what they got to do. I mean, I'm not. >> You just seem kind of like nonchalant about it. I would be very upset if I was in your position. >> I'm not because you It's like, you know, I'm I only work here part time and, you know, I've done the best. Um, my my attendance is spectacular. I'm always here and they call me, I work, you know. herself. >> There was not even a hint of shame from her. She did not seem to think she had done anything wrong, but that changed when the officers decided to handcuff her. She was worried about being embarrassed in front of her former co-workers. >> Can we do it outside? >> So, alongside I know you've been super respectful, but this is just our policy. Okay. So, I am going to cut you and it's going to be in the front. >> Really? You're going to embarrass me in front of all of you? >> I'm not I'm not going to embarrass you. >> Okay. >> Um I'm just >> So, you want to do it in the front? You just feel I have to I have to do this. Okay. Thank you. Okay. 268. Can you show one thing? >> Make sure my keys are fun. >> The woman was charged with one felony count of grand theft between $5,000 and $10,000 and booked into jail on a $2,500 bond. Theft in the workplace can lead to serious consequences even when the person shows no shame or remorse. In the end, her calm attitude could not change the evidence against her.
