These shoplifterss were certain their shopping trip was a success until the police arrived to provide a reality check. Watch as their flimsy excuses meet the cold, hard truth of the law. Here are the moment when shoplifterss think their Walmart trip went perfect. Let's start with two professional criminals and their innocent act. >> Like we were stealing like what precious head we were stealing. >> I know it's neither one of you two, but it's a new credit card. What is I don't know. >> On the 26th of February 2026, officers stopped a vehicle after suspecting the people inside were involved in a theft that had occurred at a local Menards. Things seemed even more suspicious when as soon as the officers approached her, she immediately denied several things at once. >> What's going on? >> Thank you. >> I don't know. I just I just look I went to Manard to find me a furniture uh cleaner, whatever. I did find one. I left out. That's it. >> All right. We don't got nothing from >> Okay, I get that. Who Who is trying to buy something at Menard's? >> We going to buy a We didn't get a chance >> using what? Using credit. >> No, we going to pay for it with our money. We just got our taxes. >> Okay. >> I got Did you get both our IDs? >> You got my ID. I ain't go up in there and touch nothing. >> She didn't have an ID, but we got we >> didn't try to pass with my >> What the [ __ ] Where's the ID that you guys ripped out of her hand? >> I was talking to her. I didn't go to no register or nothing. >> Huh? >> I didn't go I didn't go pay for nothing. I didn't go to no rich. >> That lady is delusion. >> I didn't go to no >> [ __ ] We were stealing like what precious head we were stealing. >> No, you're good. I'm just going to right here. >> All right. They're going to come and do some kind of show up. I wasn't over there, but they got video of everything. Okay. >> Okay. >> If you use some kind somebody else's ID to try to purchase something, it is what it is. Okay. We're going to figure it out. Um, but that's why we're here. Okay. So, um, it's not the end of the world. It's not nothing crazy. Somebody snatched an ID out of somebody else's hand for y'all. Search this whole car. Search everything. I don't have nothing. >> All right. We may end up doing that and we may end up taking everyone to the station. >> For what? for an investigation. >> An investigation for Okay, I'm not arguing. >> All right, perfect. >> After the suspect stepped out of the vehicle, the search began and the woman's identity became even more suspicious when officers found documents bearing the name Kesha Smith. >> Oh, got nothing in my car. My keys be up in here. My baby go f down the street and that's why I was on my way. >> I went to pick up a wall off the floor. I don't know. Is it in her purse or >> I like >> I don't know. >> What's your name? >> Dang it. I'm going >> Danielle. What? >> What's your name? >> Angela. >> Okay. >> Who's Kesha Smith? Kisha who folk that was the contract supposed to been coming up. >> That was somebody else. >> Yeah. >> So who bought stuff from Menard's using Aha Smith? >> That was for pickup. >> Okay. >> Not me. >> Neither one. Nobody here. But the receipts in your purse for a Kha Smith. >> That ain't my purse. >> This one? >> That's yours? Okay. >> So where's Kesha Smith's ID? >> Ain't no Kha Smith. I thought the lady sale name was Patricia. >> See, I ain't trying to play games. >> The lady sale name was Patricia. >> All right. >> I'm just >> You know why we're >> Okay. All right. What's this? For stealing stuff. >> You know what? >> If you didn't know, what the officers had just found was a tool specifically designed to remove security tags from clothing. Just having it could leave the woman facing a charge for possession of burglary tools, which could carry up to 5 years in prison and $5,000 in fines under Florida Statute Section 810.06. But what the officers found didn't stop there. >> Who's this? >> Is that your car? >> What is that? I know it's neither one of you two, but it's a new credit card. >> What is I don't know. >> [ __ ] >> Who knows Ivan? >> I don't know. No Ivan. >> Nobody knows no Ivan. Someone applied for a credit card in Ivan's name. >> That must have came in the mail. Don't you think if somebody applied for they would have went and used it? >> Might not have got a chance to yet. I bought some >> Who's Booker Ray? >> Two different people applied for credit cards with stuff in your car. >> And it's neither one of you two car. >> Whose car is this? >> It's in my I mean that's this my car, but I don't I ain't apply for nothing. I don't do that none of that type of stuff. Somebody in your car is not in your car. >> We're not stupid. >> I'm not telling you. I'm being honest with you. I'm honest with you. >> All right. You guys are on mad at us. >> I know you guys are on though. When you mad at us? >> No, I'm not mad at you. >> All right. All right. >> Okay. >> It's just annoying having to deal with this stuff all the time and then people playing stupid. >> What officers found in the car suggested they had uncovered a larger fraud operation. But the suspects never admitted anything, leaving officers to rely on the evidence and their suspicions. >> All that up in there, that's mad. That's my insurance service. >> Okay. I ain't fried on no insurance. >> Hey, >> you all together. >> This is crazy. >> I know it is crazy. We ain't trying to deal with all this either. >> But you both know why we here. >> Yeah, but we didn't do nothing because we Look, if we could have We didn't do nothing. >> We literally left out, sir. I'm telling you. >> I know you left out. >> I'm telling you the truth. You told me to be honest. >> But the intent is there to be honest. The intent is there. No, WE FIRST OF ALL, WE ATTEMPT TO DO NOTHING CUZ they won't let you attempt to do nothing. It was already on like on us type. I'm being honest. >> Why was they on you? >> WHY WERE THEY ON YOU GUYS for me to be honest? >> Yeah, >> I did. >> All right. >> I'm just saying don't act don't act like you know we don't know why we're here. >> I mean, be honest. >> Okay. >> We literally walked out like >> went in there. I left out. That was it. >> I just I'm being honest. [ __ ] You told me to be honest. Be honest. >> Okay. >> We ain't g nothing. We last night like what? Like what? >> Who's this? You got another one. And you you said this everything inside here is yours, right? >> Who's Karen? Another Visa card. >> That's not Karen. >> Trey ass. >> No. >> Ah, Trey ass [ __ ] >> That's not Trey. This is a female. >> No, that's Trey. That's her [ __ ] >> Ain't nothing ain't nothing. Ain't nothing up in there. >> Another one. >> [ __ ] >> Who said that? Another one. >> What? [laughter] DJ. >> DJ. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> Oh, that's my restaurant. DJ, >> you're Angelica Ray. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> And if you forget that's my daughter. >> Okay. >> That's my >> officers could only confirm three IDs while the identities on all the other documents remained unknown. So, they decided to detain the woman and take her to the station. I'm 43, too. I ain't >> No, you're good for a minute. Just relax. >> Okay. I'm not I ain't even did nothing. >> Yeah, you've been cool. Just relax. And what guy were you guys with? >> The other guy that was with you guys in the Jeep. Like I say, we know a little bit more than you guys think we know here, right? Is we didn't just show up here by chance. Who's the guy that you were with in the Jeep? >> I I was I came in my own car. I came up there. >> I understand that. You came with her in the car and the guy in the Jeep was also with you guys. So, right now you're not in handcuffs, so everything is going smooth here, but I'm asking for a little cooperation. Who's the guy that you were with? Let's figure it out. >> I don't know him. >> You don't know him? Okay. >> You have another guy's name, Trey, that was on some old city cars. I don't know if that's the guy. >> I'm being I'm being like, I'm trying to sort this whole That's why you're not handcuffs right now, right? Cuz we're trying to sort this man out here on the street. You understand what I'm saying? >> Daniel Maxwell. The difference between going to jail and going to the police station, not being able to pick up your kid and getting your car towed. It's a little bit of cooperation, right? >> Okay. >> I mean, take my car. >> It's a possibility. >> What I But what did I do? I didn't need to do much. I went into that bathroom. >> That's why we're trying to figure this out. Okay. >> Okay. You could take me back right then. >> You guys got cages. >> The woman clearly wasn't innocent either. She kept complaining and expressing her frustration, but the officers eventually showed that she would face the same fate. Central 26 25 stops. Can you >> I ain't even had nobody out. >> Well, we're going to have to figure it out. >> Other people's cards in your car. >> It was one This This is crazy. I ain't nobody's stuff. I went up in the store. I'm just I went up. >> I'm going to give you two pairs so it's comfy for you. Okay. I'm going to give you two pairs of handcuffs so it's more comfortable for you. Okay. >> Just relax. This is what's happening. Okay. >> But what I'm going >> because you're not new to this. >> You could I promised to God on my baby. So I came up there. >> This is your car, right? >> Yes. Can I call my people? My baby. My baby calls at the station. >> Where's When's your baby supposed to be picked up at >> at 4:30? You could go take me back to this store and this lady will tell you. I ain't walk up to her. I I walked out. I ain't go to no. >> You have other people's identities and cards inside your car. It's your car. >> It's not mad though. >> Investigation right now. We're going to be charged with it. It's not going to give it to me. So >> contact all these people. >> This is crazy as hell cuz I >> suck. I agree. Nobody wants to deal with this. You think we want to deal with this too? But you guys both on. So that's why we're here. >> I'm on my voice. I got a purse full of money. I went in there and b something. >> You want me to put her in my car? >> I went up and let me know. Oh, that's my purse right there. Nothing in that purse. Everything in there. >> Can you give me my wallet with my card and all that stuff on there? >> Take my >> Yeah, you can take >> You want me to take her? >> Huh? >> We're going to bring it to the station. >> Okay. >> In the end, both women were charged with retail theft and multiple counts of ID and credit card fraud. The lesson is simple. Denying everything won't make the evidence disappear. When officers find multiple IDs and credit cards belonging to other people, the truth can quickly catch up with you. Next, this woman plays dumb after her fourth shoplifting incident at the same store. >> You have kids? >> Yes, I have five kids. >> Are they with you? >> No. >> Are they being taken care of right now? >> So, this was Sunday. I can show you today, but this is Sunday. She did the same thing. she selected. >> On the 5th of June 2026, police received a report from a ShopRight store about a woman allegedly leaving with $548 worth of unpaid merchandise. When officers arrived, store employees also provided them with detailed statements about the incident. >> Her in the liquor store with a full cart, it was $500 and some dollars. I went tracked it back real quick and it turns out she came from an aisle after making a se couple selections right out the door. So, she got to her car and she was loading it up. I had gave me enough time to go back and watch her and see that she didn't go to a register. So, then when I got to the car, she didn't have a receipt and then she said, "I think I forgot to pay." So, she said it's her first time, but I just went back on her on Sunday and I have her doing the same thing on Sunday. >> Okay. You have a driver's license? >> Yes. >> Do you have a receipt for how much >> the is the paper for >> one in the past? Okay. Uh for the one in the past, do you you have the video you keep on? I have the This is I don't have it done. I mean, I don't even have today's done yet because I'm uh I went back cuz she said she's never done this before. So, I wanted to see if this was a one-time deal or if this was more um and it turns out she was here Sunday and did the same thing. So, here if you look at Sundays, >> your kids? >> Yes, I have five kids. >> Are they with you? No. >> Are they being taken? Do you I'm sorry. I You came here by yourself, right? >> Okay. >> Yeah. There was no one else in the car. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, this was Sunday. I can show you today, but this is Sunday. She did the same thing. She's selected. Uh she has a full cart. She has the kids with her, which I didn't think she would do anything with the kids, but so she's going to come out of the aisle and she's right here and she goes into the liquor store. >> Okay. This is idea. >> Yeah, >> I have it. >> This is last week, though. >> This is last week. I can show you today. I just wanted to show you that she's been doing >> It turned out this was not the woman's first time doing this. And the total value of the merchandise was soon confirmed. >> I just need the receipt for today. >> He He went out to get you the receipt. They had to ring it up. It was $524. >> And as far as you said Sunday, >> I'm just going to need the the value for everything on that. >> It's going to take a while. So, can I It's going to take a while to put together. >> Okay. >> Uh because we have to reenact the whole thing and then shop the order. And I have a feeling we're going to go back. It's going to be a lot. So, do you want my guy to put it all together all the times and then reach out to you with all the video and the and the receipts? Um, well, we need we'll handle today first and then and then if you can't finish for the previous ones, we still have identified her and then we can handle that separately. >> Exactly. That's what I figured we'll do today. So, I can burn the video for you and drop it off. I don't know what time you're on till, but I can do it today for you. >> He's getting you the receipt. >> 52437. The system froze that are rescanning it to give you to actually give you the paper, but that was when it you see the total on there. >> They're going to redo it. So, I I just want to reiterate before before we're done here. She left with $524 worth of alcohol product, went to the car. You stopped her before she departed >> before she left. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Asked her for a receipt and she could not provide one. Okay. >> And uh which I already knew she didn't have one because I watched her. I just went back and reviewed video real quick and she didn't >> I'm 35. >> 35. Okay. So, we're going to take care of this part and then uh I'm going to have some paperwork as you know just for you to fill out and then uh yeah, we'll be on our way. Okay. >> Okay. Did you want to see today's just for your >> Yeah, if you want to show me. >> Sure. All right. So, uh, let me just go >> uh the exit. >> Yep. Let me just Well, it's going to be a little bit because she went to the liquor store, so I got to switch. >> With the theft involving more than $500 worth of merchandise and evidence that it was a repeated offense, she could face thirdderee shoplifting. Thirdderee shoplifting can be charged as a thirdderee felony, which can carry up to 5 years in prison and $5,000 in fines under Florida law. Meanwhile, officers and store employees continued reviewing the surveillance footage for evidence. >> Okay, so this is her in the liquor store and I'm going to go back and show you selection and everything. So, this is her buying. She bought a bottle which is in the car and then today I will fill it. I will put you in aisle. >> So, a purchase was made >> for the liquor and that's not included that I left that in the car. She did pay. >> That's not part of the 520. >> That's not part of the 500. Yeah. Okay. So, that's her going out with the product. So, now when I backtrack it That was a 501. That was today, right? >> That was today. A 501 is when she walked out. So, she goes in, she purchases a bottle or she gets a bottle, she purchases it. Now, I'm just going to spin around because when she walks in, then I just have the time that she comes in cuz everything's good there. Okay. So, 557 or 457. >> Hey, Dad. >> Hey, how are you? >> Good. Hello. >> Receipt. Hi. How are you doing? Receipt. >> I just want to reiterate this doesn't include the bottle that she did pay for, right? Yeah, that's in the cart. >> Okay, so that's the cart right there. >> Okay, >> she comes along the back and she's going to go up the pet food aisle, which is right here. You see her coming up. She going to go any registers. I have her right there, and that's when she goes into the liquor store, and she picks up her selection. And the food can't be purchased in the liquor store. >> So, here she All right, so I'm switching over to here. So, now she waits in line for the liquor. She gets up to the liquor, pays for it, and then front end. I think it went faster, right? >> Yeah. This should be her. Yeah, that's her going out. >> Everything captured on camera provided police with evidence that could establish the crime, speaking louder than any admission from the suspect. With the evidence in hand, they made their decision shortly afterward. >> You are going to be placed under arrest for shopping, I think. Okay. Do you mind just taking the bag off? >> Yes. >> Do you want to lock out your phone so you don't >> Yeah. Would it be okay if I pulled my husband? We could do that for us. We're not going to do it right now. >> I don't know. >> Here. Well, I'll take it. It's fine. You just got to take the first. You just put your hands on your back. >> Anything else in your pockets or anything like that, man? >> Which Gina? >> Is this too tight for you? >> No. >> You got smaller wrist. I'm just I'm just making sure they're not hurting you. >> All right. She is the right form. So, I'll come back for you. >> I just need you to roll this up. You're okay. >> Here. Just I need you to face your wrist out. Probably be a little less or a little more comfortable that way. All right. This way. I'm going to grab your purse. >> All right, we're make a right. Yep. I'll be right back. >> That police car right there. We're going to go to that. Wait. We're going to go on the opposite side. Okay. Wait one second. >> Will I be outside today? >> Yeah. Wait 2 hours maybe. >> Here. I'll take the pop. You got a fleet? >> Yeah. Can you just pop Can you open? I got you. >> Thanks. >> That's my go. >> I'm just going to reach your seat belt. Okay. >> All right. Should be like 2 hours. Okay. >> Thanks, bro. >> Just make sure you search this. What do we got? >> You said what? >> Just make sure you search us now. All right. >> She had enough money to pay for groceries. Jeez, it's a lot of cash. >> I'll get the statement, everything else for you. >> You sure? Just a statement in the vine and then it >> Yeah, I'll get the vine statement tab stuff for you. >> Thanks, bro. Uh, are you with us? >> Did you get the print out? Yeah, I'm staying over tonight. Uh, what was the total amount? >> I have in my pocket. I got it was like five. It was just over five. >> Okay, so I was trying to mark the other numbers. You good? >> Yeah, I'm good. Just when it seemed the case would end there, store employees investigated further and discovered that her history of similar behavior did not stop at just two incidents. >> You guys have a history. I'm guessing a prior. >> Yeah. >> Looks like she'll be able to go back and find other. >> Yeah, if you guys get it all together t tallied up. >> It's going to take a while. See those? That's the other day when she went out. >> Her car is in the lot. I took a picture of it and it's still there. The plate near you running this morning. Now I know why. >> Yeah, I was here. I've been since 7:00 a.m. I'm here till 10:30 tonight. So, working a double again. Yeah, I usually run every year. Where's her car parked at? Straight back on. Necklaces. >> Second or third road. Not that far out. >> You mind if I pick her driver's license you have on the phone? Just so I can write down the information for you. Thank you. >> Uh what's this? 1500? >> Yeah, I thought it was 1500. What's the uh phone number for here? Do you know the main? >> Yeah, I do. Uh I just got to look it up. I don't usually use it, but uh >> Well, yeah. as you guys get it, just give us a call once you have it all together so we can all put it together and the dates, the amounts in the separate dates. So, I'm seeing multiple things here. I don't know if that's all the different things, >> different days, >> different days. So, she's here, but if say, for example, like you have June 5th on there or I'm sorry, that's you have the 31st and you have May 8th if it's two, just have the amounts for whatever days. >> Oh, yeah. That's how we do. We break it down by day for you. We'll give you a different uh time and everything, whatever. But it'll be a bit. But today, I'll get this done. What time are you guys on till? >> I'm on till 11:00. He's on till 1:30 a.m. So, >> I'll get done before then. >> Perfect. I appreciate, guys. Thank you. >> In the end, the woman was charged with thirdderee shoplifting. Repeated theft can quickly turn a seemingly minor incident into a much bigger legal problem. Surveillance footage can also expose a pattern of behavior, making it much harder to dismiss the incident as a one-time mistake. Next, this woman failed miserably when she tried to run away. >> You stop right there. Stop. All right. Step out of the vehicle. Sha, you're fine. >> On the 9th of September 2025, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a theft. The suspects, believed to be a man and a woman, had fled on foot. As soon as officers arrived, the chase immediately began. >> You stop right there. Stop. All right. Where'd he go? >> I don't know. >> Get over here. We probably have one detained. The female the male subject ran I think he went uh westbound towards Arco 320th. finger that >> I got you. >> I think I broke it. >> There you go. So tight. >> Thank you. Got her first. Okay. >> All right. I'm Let's swap her back to the people, please. >> Cool. Sounds good. The remaining male suspect was believed to have successfully escaped. At this point, officers began gathering information from the woman. >> Uh, what's her name? >> How do you spell that? >> S H A W N A E >> S H W N A >> S H A W N A E >> N A E like that. >> Yeah. >> Okay, gotcha. Would you be able to uh ID them? >> Okay. And uh provide a statement, too? All right, sounds good. And then at any point at some point, you should be able to kind of get an estimate of what they took, right? Like a receipt. Okay, sounds good. We'll be over there in a second. Okay, >> bye. >> 2 a.m. 42. We are code for open the air. >> No, I cannot. Not until we're done. >> The mask, please. I'm super hot. >> They can ID them. So, I think we're over there and they'll show up. I'm running her name right now. Go ahead and put your feet in, please. >> I'm going to shut the door, but I'm going to open the window. >> I'm going to go see what she threw over there. Okay. She like threw a bag on the floor. >> Guy carrying backpacks. >> What's up? >> It's a guy carrying a backpack. >> Yeah, he was. I think uh Hispanic male. >> There's a gray backpack. I think >> there's a backpack down there. >> Yeah. I better get over real quick. She threw it. >> She threw it? >> Yeah, cuz they I pulled up right here. >> Yeah. >> They're walking up on me. They saw me turn lights on, immediately booked it, but we had seen him earlier >> cuz they were also shoplifting Trader Joe's. So, >> down here, >> officers suspected that this was not the suspect's first offense. They also confirmed that the woman had tried to discard the stolen merchandise while fleeing, allowing officers to later recover some of the items. Did he get the merchandise still? >> Yeah, I got some of it right here. >> Oh, right here. >> Yeah, >> he took off his shirt. >> You did? >> That's he was wearing >> the orange one. Yeah. Yeah. >> Hispanic male. >> This guy short hair. >> How old was 35? I say 30 35. Yeah. >> How many pants are you wearing? >> Uh >> I don't remember. >> Yeah. >> But you got hurt. So >> yeah, we're good. Got one. So >> yeah. >> And some of the merch back, but we're going to do until it show up. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> At this time, you are not free to leave. You do have two warrants. One for 5,000 and one for three 3,000 out of two different counties, just so you're aware. Okay. Uh well, at first he was just going to contact them, but they they do want us to go over and do a field show up. Um they said they could recognize him if they saw him, but after I IDed her, I just found out she has two warrants. Um but yeah, they want a field show up. >> Where is it? Oh, I said, did you find her? >> She threw it. Yeah. >> Okay. [groaning] Got you. Hey, what's up, Ali? Um, no. I turned my lights and sirens on cuz I was driving in the parking lot, saw them, and I had seen them. I recognized them because they were also back to the suspect. She became increasingly erratic, showing clear signs that she appeared to be under the influence of something. >> Step out of the vehicle. >> Shane, you're fine. You need to go. I don't play that game, so stand up. Stand up and keep your head up. >> Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. >> All right. Step set back into the vehicle. Sha, look at me. At this time, you're being held under arrest for theft three and obstruction. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to us now? Okay. I'm going to put your seat belt on before we go. Sit up all the way. The recovered merchandise was then returned to the store while an employee continued to provide a statement about what had happened earlier inside the store. >> I got this back. I don't know if it's everything, but >> Oh, yeah. >> We'll see. >> Oh, I think that was his letter. >> Maybe all his stuff's in there. >> He just right there. >> Sweet. All right. All right. I just need your ID real quick. [snorts] All righty. All right. What did you see today? Um what did you see him shoplifting? All that stuff like start to finish. >> Okay. So, I was back here and then associate said that they had a suspicious character in the store. Um I go out there and I it was the mail that I seen first. Um and I customer serviceed him. I asked him did he need help finding anything? And he said no. And then he was like, "Well, I need a 31 by something in the jeans." And I told him, "Well, right now we have we have just have the 29 is the smallest." And he said, "Okay." And then he goes, "Well, where's the slims?" Our slim is the one that gets really deaf with the trackers in them. >> So, I took him there and um I showed him the 32s that we had. And he goes, "Okay." And he grabbed two pairs of those. >> Um and then he grabbed the hoodie and then he grabbed some shirts, wrapped them around his arm, was shopping a bit, like browsing, and then came into the women's section. And I was in the men's in the front of the store. I looked to my left and I seen a woman just staring at me and I was like, "Oh, they're together." >> Mhm. >> So then as he's going to the women's, he can't find her. So he's like in um and like I read his mail. He's like, "Where is she?" [music] Like he was looking for her. >> Yeah. >> And then they go to the back and then he comes back. I stayed up at the front. He goes back to the front and he seen me and he he went to the back looking for them. He went into men's active. Uh the associate said that he was there and that he had more stuff in his [music] arms. She had I seen her come to the back. Um she had a lot of stuff in her arms and then they ran out the back. >> In the end, the woman was charged with felony shoplifting and obstruction in addition to her two existing warrants. The man was later found and was charged with the same offenses. Trying to escape only made the situation worse, especially when the evidence and stolen merchandise could be recovered. Running from the scene does not erase the crime. It can lead to additional consequences. Worse, the woman played the race card and portrayed [music] herself as the victim after her arrest. >> All right. Well, why are you not talking? >> Yeah, it's I Well, Target is so racist. >> No, there could be felony uh charges on something like this. So, >> a felony charge. >> Mhm. Yeah. On the 10th of June 2025, officers received a call from a Target store after a woman named Latoya was reported for attempting to leave with merchandise she had not paid for. To understand exactly what happened, let's hear the employees statement. >> Yeah. So, I have her trying to leave right now. >> I'll talk to you a second, miss. Okay. Right now, you're not under arrest, but you're being detained. Okay. >> Detained. >> You were being detained. >> So, that's her trying to leave. She did pay for a large portion of those items. Um, specifically what we know of, she had two Hot Wheels items that she kept under the seat there while she was checking out at the register. When they looked away, she pulled both of those items out, put them into bags. Uh, she still had a basket in there as well with some cosmetics, uh, maybe some jewelry items. She went up to guest service. She paid for a bunch of items up there, but left all those items in the basket. So, then she moved to exit through those doors there, and that's when we stopped her. Uh, we do also have a record of her with Target. Give me one second. I'll pull that up. My system is being dumbly slowed today. Didn't get back in the office. And then today's incident where she was moving with those items. >> So, it is going to take us a while to get the video together. She was in here for about 4 hours. >> Okay. >> Um >> 4 hours in one duration or over >> Yeah, 4 hours in one duration. Um the >> Do you have the receipt of those? >> Is that all this? Does it look right? >> Yeah. So, this looks right. We will double check it against the other items, but this is all the stuff that was left in that basket. Uh along with the uh is that with the two toys on it? The two Hot Wheels? Yeah, with both Hot Wheels on there. >> Um so we'll double check to make sure there's not something else, but we're going to have to I'll actually have you go back out and just ring up. >> If there's anything else, you guys can send them my way. I'll give you my email and stuff like that. >> Okay. All right, miss. Like I said, you're not under arrest right now. You're being detained. Um so do you have an ID with you? >> Faced with the allegations against her, the woman could not deny what had happened. But instead of showing any remorse, she became irritated and started accusing the employee instead. I don't and I don't even >> credit cards which you gave me for ID. >> Are you Latoya? >> I am. >> Okay. All right. Latoya, you want to talk to me? >> Yeah. It's I Well, Target is so racist. Um when I was in the soon as I came through the door, that girl with that uh neon shirt ran to the ran to the front door and I took video of it. Um when I walked up to the front, no one was there. no asset protection, no nothing. And so I was like, "Oh, okay." So then I recorded him and I recorded her walking up to that door and I'm like, "Oh, so now they're profiling." And so I went to that register, register one. And I don't even know what he's talking about with the Hot Wheels cuz I did my total was uh $219. >> Mhm. And so, um, when I was at the register and I had a a basket and so the lady at the register was acting antsy that she wanted to go to lunch and the other older lady was like, um, you can go ahead and go to lunch. And she was like, what you going to do with that basket? I'm like, I'm going to guest service. And so she put everything around the basket and nothing in the inside. So I went to guest service. I had two baskets full of clothes already waiting at guest service. And so, um, >> what kind of service are you talking about? >> Over here at the service desk. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, >> this is for for merchandise that you had in your cart. >> Um, that I was going to pay for. They had things on hold, like uh my kids clothes I hold. >> The woman then tried to tell her side of the story to justify what had happened. But the more she explained, the more the officers realized that her story simply did not add up. >> So, um, I rolled up to guest service. I did the first basket. Um, and then the Indian girl woman came and I asked her to get two kitty pools for me. And so she got two kitty pools and then she I guess she decided to help the other girl. And while she was helping the other girl, she just put the pool right on top of my basket and I was check out the basket. She just put the pool right on top. There were no bags there. Like nothing was just sitting wide open from register one. >> Mhm. So, when I went to guest service, um, bring up all my clothes and my houseear stuff. >> Okay. But typically, you're supposed to pay for all the stuff over there at the register before you go to the place that's probably right next to the exit, right? >> She was complaining about going to lunch, >> register one. She didn't want to work anymore. >> So, she So, so you walk past >> H. >> So, [clears throat] you just walk past and say, "Okay." >> No, she she asked me about my basket. She said it was okay to take it to customer service. >> Okay. >> Cuz it was already in the basket. So >> when I was at gas service after she got the pool, she just put it right on top of my basket. >> And so I paid for everything thinking that I got the damn basket cuz I'm working with the other lady. >> All right. So what happened after? >> So um after I'm going to go get into my car and these two people. >> Okay. So suddenly it went from the service test to getting into your car. >> I paid for my stuff at customer service. >> Okay. What about the other $180 that you didn't pay for? >> $180. >> Yeah. That's what the receipt said. >> Of what? I see. >> Looks like it looks like there were various toys, other things that we had there. >> It was everything that was inside. >> Let me see. >> Bind the car we didn't get paid for. >> I understand if you went to customer service to pay for the rest of your stuff because of some other situation. If that's >> $20. >> The black jacket. >> The black jacket is $15. >> That's the clearance price for it. >> We're just negotiating for >> It's not even on here on clearance, though. She still stubbornly tried to act innocent even after the officers explained what she had done wrong. She did not seem to feel any remorse. Even after admitting that some of the merchandise had not been paid for. >> So there's some things that you're disagreeing that you stole, but some things that you did walk out with. >> Yeah. So I I don't know how she she forgot what is the HH basket cuz that white basket she's supposed to have scanned. Is that what's on there? >> Okay. What do you remember walking out with that you didn't pay for? >> That's right. That's the the room sprays. >> Oh, hold on. But it says HH closet. What's that? >> Yeah, that's that's the brand. >> Oh, okay. >> Toya, what do you remember walking out with that you didn't pay for? >> Everything should have been paid for. >> Everything should have been paid for, but but it wasn't. So, what what didn't what wasn't paid for? >> The the basket they had the makeup >> and a bronzer and a jacket that was supposed to be $15. >> Okay. >> Everything else should have been paid for. >> Okay. That's That's what we got you on video. Obviously, walking out with with merchandise that some of the women >> the basket was inside the basket for her to ring up. >> But when I'm working with the one lady for her to ring up the clothes, imagine me you paying for one thing and then a lady another lady has a big pull and she's like, I'm just going to sit it on top of your car and she just sits it on top of the car. >> Okay. >> In the Okay. All right. You're obviously concealing stuff. just uh hang out with me with my partner here for one second. I'm going to be right back. Okay. >> Yeah, cuz I told him like if it's whatever, I can pay for it. Like I don't even know how that happened. >> At this point, her guilt was clear, but she still seemed to think it was not a big deal, forcing the officer to explain the situation to her once again. >> So, we're going to have to take a look at that. You're going to come with us. Okay. So, what I think should probably happen with >> For $100? >> Yeah. I mean, a dollar. We do it for a dollar. That's That's what retail theft is. Okay. Um, so real quick, you bought some food and stuff like that. It might be best that maybe you put that back on the shelf as your refund or something. I don't know. >> The food she had was from like Chipotle or something. >> Oh, okay. >> So, she brought that in with her. Uh, all the other items out there that she paid for um can go with you guys or >> How much stuff is there? She's got some plastic uh pools as well. So, she's got quite a bit, >> right? Like, that's it doesn't even make sense. Like, >> okay, >> this lady puts >> Do you guys have Do you guys have a way of holding on to that? >> We hold on to it. Yeah, we don't usually, but I can we can absolutely hold on. >> So, yeah, this the tricky thing is we don't want to bring they won't do anything with it. We'll set it aside and make sure it's here. >> Um >> Okay. Well, I've got you real quick. >> The only thing is we can't have her come back in for it. Um >> Okay. Do you have a card by any chance? I can grab one from there. >> Okay. All right. >> What usually happens like usually they give you a ticket like what's going on? >> No. There could be felony uh charges on something like this. So, >> a felony charge. >> Yeah. If you've been this could be felony pointed at this point. Yep. That's kind of how things go. So yeah, sometimes we do tickets but probably not for this circumstance. >> Well, can you stand up? Are you able to stand? >> Like this is not fair. Like >> is this your stuff right here? >> Yeah, this is all mine. [laughter] >> Okay, I'll come with you. >> Stephen, like I would have I would have hit stuff like >> so I need you to not go into the bag. I need >> I just want to put my wallet. >> Okay, I'll put that in there for you. Let's just have you stand up. Okay. She was then [snorts] escorted out, but throughout the process, she kept trying to find ways to shift the blame and minimize her responsibility. >> Um, yeah, that'd be good. Would that be good? >> Yeah, cuz you could clearly see the the clearance tag on the jacket and you're charging $30. >> Okay. Well, the price is uh the price is what it is. The point is obviously you try to walk out with charge. That's to make me look like I'm doing something and I'm not. >> Well, you walk out with 10 cents or you walk out with $30. I mean, the point is you're taking merchandise, ma'am. Okay. I'm sorry. Well, let my room decide. >> Yes, sounds like a good idea. >> Okay. >> If you could. Yeah. And then this is just her. >> Okay. We'll give you Just hold on a sec. We'll give you a thing as well if you can sign that. Um I might have my officer just work on that. Okay. >> Can I get my food? And that right there. Is she charging? That's not on the receipt. >> Okay. Let's just walk right now. Okay. Okay. I think that >> my food officer. >> Okay. Unfortunately, it sounds like you can't >> Yeah, we're not we're not going to let you eat there now. Okay. Let us work through this and then if uh everything checks out, >> we might get you going quick. But we have to look at a couple things. Okay. >> No, because things shouldn't matter. >> Yeah. That's that's going to be up to the state legislators. That's not my call. Is what you told me. So, >> I never [snorts] said anything. You never read the Miranda rights. >> I told you you were detained. >> You never read your memorand rights. >> Okay. Well, you're in custody now. So, if you want to talk to me, I can read them to you. >> Nope. I'm too big for that strap. >> Okay, that's okay. Why don't we just get your leg in there and then we'll we'll work on that after. Okay. Do you need help? You got it. >> Well, I can't sit up with the strap. >> Okay. No, the strap is is way up here. Oh, I see what you're saying. Okay. I don't see this. How about this? [clears throat] There we go. Well, a long time since this happened and and and no reading of my random rights. Okay. Well, >> like I told you, Latoya, you were detained. I asked if you wanted to talk to me about the situation and you did. So, >> in the end, the woman was charged with retail theft and trespassed from Target. The lesson is simple. Trying to shift the blame or make excuses does not erase the evidence against you. When the facts are clear, taking responsibility is always better than making the situation worse. Next, this Tik Tocker tried to blame Danny Duncan after being caught [music] red-handed inside Walmart. >> Conor brought you here. >> And I met Connor at Danny's Cream Pies, and he said he would help me out. >> On the 13th of January, 2026, what seemed like a quiet night suddenly took a turn when Walmart reported a break-in. The suspect was believed to be a man who had gone live on TikTok filming himself sleeping in the store's dog bed section. Here's what happened when officers arrived at the scene. >> Is it open or no? >> Yeah. >> No, it's not. >> No, it's like it says Danny Duncan on his page or what? I don't know if anybody looked at it. >> It's a homeless dude that's been in a couple of his videos recently. >> Oh, really? Okay. >> He he ran from us as a mentally ill person. >> That's This is the kid that ran from us that one time over there. McDonald's. We got the people messed up the dad. You [clears throat] remember that? They gave us the wrong description. We thought we were looking for our older male, but it ended up being that kid that ran Brandon called called this dispatch saying he's going to kill himself if his dad doesn't do something for him or get rid of the restraining order. >> Yeah. >> Walmart's going to be like, "What the hell? Dog beds. Yeah, dog beds are over here, I think, to the left. Or maybe they're back here in the back. >> I can't remember. >> Even the K9 unit was brought in. And thanks to his Tik Tok live, officers had no trouble tracking him down. [snorts] >> [snorts] >> Oh, can I get my shoes? >> Can I get my shoes real quick? Just real quick. >> Put in my hand, please. Ah, we have to wait for that. Where's your other shoe? >> I think it's over there. >> You understand why this is pretty stupid, right? >> I don't have anywhere to sleep. >> Huh? >> I don't have anywhere to sleep. Well, Walmart a closed business is not it's not not the place to sleep. >> Anything else back here? Your phone charger? >> Yeah, just [snorts] roll. >> Oh, make contact. make sure they want to pursue charges and stuff. >> The man was escorted away shortly afterward, showing little sign of remorse for what he had done. Officers then confirmed more details about his background and identity. >> Do you think I've been guilty? >> Nope. >> Have you tried any of the homeless coalitions or anything like that? >> I don't have um I'm from Knoxville, Tennessee. When I called them, they said that I needed to be a resident and because they prioritized them first. >> How long you been in Florida? I've been in Florida a couple days. >> Couple days? >> Yes, sir. >> Why'd you come to Florida? >> You got family here? >> Can Can we throw my hat away? >> I'm going to take everything from you when we get to the car, bro. >> You don't have family or nothing down here? >> No, sir. I was here because you know Danny Duncan? >> Yeah. >> He's doing a live stream. I was staying with him for a couple days and then his assistant made us leave because it was just kind of getting hectic. Nothing bad happened but you know stuff like that. And then I didn't have really anywhere to go and so I was going to make a YouTube video saying I was staying overnight in the Walmart because I'm homeless. >> That's why you're here tonight? >> Yes, sir. >> You don't have any money for hotels? Not like that. Motel? >> No, sir. No, I >> for a couple jocks yesterday and and today >> probably Birkin. >> No, look at that. >> I got it from Birk. >> All right, you shot us up against the wall. >> Officers then reviewed his own Tik Tok live stream to confirm his actions. Ironically, the man had recorded the evidence himself, leaving officers with a video that could be used against him. >> Same as me. But you >> call I'm like what? >> It's not who I thought it was though. >> No. So he's trying to be Danny Duncan when you look at his profile. >> Uhhuh. >> It says on his profile. So I didn't want to open it. Okay. Danny Duncan can save Save Me. It's his actual like name. Danny Duncan can save me. >> And he posted earlier. literally just eat about to do an overnight challenge in Walmart because I'm homeless. So, um yeah, that'll be good. Make sure you follow the YouTube um and everything like that. Uh make sure you like this and post, share, everything. Got >> that for evidence. >> How long were you doing the stream for? >> Like an hour maybe. >> What time did you get here? I came here at like 7, but I wasn't I didn't I didn't go inside until like 10:15. >> I go 99 62. Did he get caught? You want to clip it? Bye-bye. Yeah. Two cop pulled up with a dog. >> Isaac. [laughter] >> Isaac. >> Yes, sir. >> Whose Whose ID is this? Um, that's my friend's >> Why do you have your friend's ID? >> Because he gave it to me. >> Why did your friend give you his ID? >> Because um it was in Knoxville and he said, "Okay." >> And he just gave it to me and I said, "Okay, >> you think it's a good idea to have somebody else's ID on you?" >> No, sir. >> At this point, the man admitted to what had happened, but it seemed like he was trying to shift the blame onto YouTuber Danny Duncan. >> You understand [snorts] the meaning of perjury? >> Yes, sir. I'll tell the truth. >> All right. What happened today? What was your intentions here today? >> So, um, my my friend that we were at Danny's with, I couldn't stay with him tonight, >> Danny Duncan. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> And so, they dropped me off here and I said I was going to do a YouTube video here. And >> who dropped you off here? >> Um, my friend Connor. >> Okay. >> And then and then I was in there for a little bit. >> What time did you get here? >> I don't quite remember. I think it was like I walked in the store at around 10:15. Did you walk into the grocery side or the home and pharmacy side? >> Um, I walked into >> this side over here. >> Yes, sir. >> And the store was still open at that point. >> Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> Where'd you go from there? As soon as you walked in the store? >> Well, I went back to the section that I y'all found me at and >> I made me a spot to sleep tonight. >> Okay. So, what what's up with the Tik Tok thing? >> Well, I was just trying to get views so I could make some money. >> Okay. Did you get kicked out of Danny Duncan's house? >> Uh, it wasn't his house. It was his cream pie shop. His assistant said that we had to leave. I didn't It wasn't >> Who we and your friend Connor? >> No, Connor. Connor, it was me and um >> Monty. >> No, Monty left. Monty left today. Um but it was Cory. >> Okay. So, they didn't give you a reason. They just said you got to leave. >> Yeah. >> So, Cory brought you here? >> Connor brought you here. >> And I met Connor at Danny's Cream Pies and he said he would help me out. And so he let me stay at his house for two nights, but then his parents said that I couldn't stay anymore. >> And it wasn't for anything bad. They just they just didn't [snorts] want me to stay. So I said, "Okay." >> All right. What was your plan? What was going to be your plans uh in the morning? >> You planned on staying here all night, right? What were you going to do in the morning? Just leave? >> Yes, sir. >> But the evidence didn't stop there. The charging cable officers found on him was confirmed to belong to Walmart and had never been paid for. The man himself admitted that he had taken it from the store. >> Where'd you find the charger at? >> In this in this charging section. >> Was it in a box or anything? >> Yes, sir. It was. >> All right, man. Stay seated. Okay. [clears throat] We're going to go down to the jail. All right. Be right back with you. >> Okay. Taking this one statement. I'm going to place you under oath. Just raise your right hand for me. You swear or affirm the statement you're about to give will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. >> Yes. >> Perfect. So, what happened? >> Um, you guys came in. I saw you guys come in. You told me there was a guy in the dog bed sleeping. So, we went over there. You guys said, "Do you guys want him trespassed?" I said, "Yes." We found out he stole a charger. We wanted to press charges, get him trespassed. We're going to look up the video, see what else he stole, see if he stole that, and spot it, and here we are. >> Okay. Y'all didn't know he was in here, knew anything about him. >> No, I did have my maintenance associate come up to me once he saw the commotion. He said he was pacing in front of the building, >> but I guess I missed him cuz he was by the smoker's bench and we were over here. >> You know what time that was? >> Um like 10:30, 11:00. I was going to look it up on camera to see when he actually entered the building, went back and got the charger and everything. >> Okay. So, he was out the building when y'all closed. >> To my knowledge, that's what I'm about to look up right now. Yeah, cuz we keep that sidebar unlocked until about 12 and that's when I set the alarm. So, you could have snuck in, right? assuming that we have cat 2 that stalks over there in our second ship stalking till 11 and nobody ever reported him in the dog beds. I'm assuming they would have seen it like I hope. >> Is that where he was found at? Was the one of the dog beds? >> Yes, he was hid in the shelves of the dog beds. >> Okay. Do you know how much that charger was worth that he had? >> I think we saw it was $14.98. >> Joe, find the box that it was ripped off. >> He did not find the box. >> I heard something about some alcohol. Did he take any alcohol or >> We don't know yet. I when I was back there looking for the case for the charger. >> In the end, Hurley was charged with burglary of an occupied structure and petite theft. Trying to turn a crime into online content can easily backfire when the suspect records his own evidence. This case shows that chasing views is never worth creating a trail that can be used against you. Next, this wealthy woman pulled every trick she could to get herself out of trouble. >> I don't understand why you being rude in your man. Like, what are you being rude for? If I'm trying to buy something being rude, man. You have the right to sign >> handicap. So I can't like I'm mentally physically disorder. >> Okay. So you're physically >> unable schizophrenic. >> On the 12th of February 2025, police were dispatched to an Ulta beauty store in Florida after receiving a report of a woman concealing merchandise worth $977. This is what happened when the officer approached the woman as she was attempting to leave and get to her Tesla. >> Come on, let's go back in. >> Go back in. >> Yes, ma'am. I can make my car. >> I'm not going to run, sir. >> I know you're not. >> You pay your butt. >> I know you own [laughter] the response. This way. >> I'm right here. >> How many y'all want that in the marketplace? >> I'm going to buy it. So, could I >> No. >> The time to buy it was back there. >> 43. >> Most prevention office or anything? >> No. >> No. Okay. >> Is there anywhere we have that we can get us? >> Okay. Can I bring her back there or Yeah. Do >> you have an ID on? >> Yeah. >> Wearing sunglasses, earrings, and a necklace worth $10,000. It was hard to believe she would steal. Yet, if it was a mistake, her calmness was suspicious as she even began suggesting solutions to the officer. >> My bad. [snorts] >> I've been very nice to you. I didn't try to run from you or anything. >> What? >> I mean, I feel like you can give me a warning. It's my first time doing up. That's okay. I know, but what I'm saying is I pay for all the stuff that I have anyway. >> Again, that's up to them. What's your phone number? >> Sir, you said it's up to you. I don't be want to be rude, but I know that I lost my job two months ago, and I used to come in here all the time and spend like my whole paycheck basically. Um, and to be honest, >> what apartment did you say? >> It I know I was wrong and I have learned my lesson. Trust me, I would never do this again. I would never come back to your store. I would buy every item that I have in my bag. Literally. >> Well, you're not going to come back anyway because >> No, I'm saying I'm not coming back in. No, no, I'm saying I'm not coming back in. >> We have things that we could have offered you if you just >> try to get me out of my >> Yeah. >> Excuse me, sir. I can't hear you. >> And then there's the what? that guy >> and the watches as well. >> This those are hers obviously. >> Um [clears throat] some of that stuff I already had in my sit down. >> No, I'm sitting down. So you like I'm trying to be rude. I'm just trying to make sure you get what you >> Everything else I cannot confirm. Minus, but these guys what? >> Those are all They should be hers. These are the only ones that are hers. >> Okay. Thank you. >> So yeah, I'm talking I speak with him cuz >> No, >> I can't speak anymore. You just said I it's up to him for me to speak. >> I conduct an investigation. >> No, I understand you're preventing this. >> The woman kept trying to approach the loss prevention staff to plead her case. She knew exactly what she was doing, trying to make them feel sorry for her. >> He [snorts] just told me not to speak with him. He had no problem with that. >> I just don't want to lose my name. >> I don't want to lose my housing. I have four kids. I don't lose my housing. >> Okay. So, you were about the wrong thing. No, I'm just trying to speak to him to see if I can buy the items instead because it's the same thing. I didn't leave the store and got all the items is all that I'm saying. >> Are you familiar with your Miranda warnings, man? >> Yeah. >> All right. So, just do me a favor. Just verbally confirm that you understand after each one. Okay. You have the right to remain silent and not answering your questions. You understand that? >> I don't understand why you being rude in your man. Like, what are you being rude for if I'm trying to buy something? >> You're not being rude, man. You have the right to remain silent. >> I'm asking you another question. I'm asking could I speak with him because he has the authority >> you and I speak with him. >> But he didn't say I can't speak with him. You're saying that I can't speak with him. And I'm just trying to save myself a war in jail because my son is I'm no longer having this conversation investigation. >> No, I understand. I'm just saying could I buy it? That's all. >> I'm going to say no because if you were going to buy it, we would have done it the first time. >> Okay. But everyone makes mistakes. But okay. >> Of course we do. Yes. But >> don't go ahead and let me go and take yours. >> Okay. All right. You have the right to remain silent and answer your questions. You understand that? >> Mhm. >> Yes. >> The Miranda reading seemed to mean nothing to her. But what shocked the officer even more was what she said right after. >> I'm listening to what you're saying. >> I need you to verbally confirm what >> I'm handicapped. So I can't like I'm mentally disorder. >> Okay. So you are physically >> unable schizophrenic. >> Okay. So you're saying you're mentally incapable of giving me a statement. >> I'm not schizophrenic. >> Okay. Are you or are you not capable of giving me a statement? >> I am >> What's get schizophrenic? >> Get schizophrenic is when you hear voice. >> Oh my god. Whatever. That >> all right. So, do you wish to give me a statement? >> Um, no, not really. But I'm giving you a statement for when I can't recall exactly. I want to be >> You're refusing to give You're refusing to give a statement. >> You saying that it really don't matter at this point anyway. So, you know, >> I'm asking you. >> Are you refusing to give a statement? >> Okay, sir. >> Yes. >> I'm just trying to let you know that. >> May I read you your Miranda warnings and then I can talk to you? >> I don't understand them for you to be >> Okay. I have You got to let me read them. >> Okay. But I don't understand what >> you have the right to remain silent and I answer any questions. Do you understand that? >> Yes. >> Do you understand that? Yes or no? >> I am slow. Like you can call my mom. You want to call my mom so she'll be able to translate to me cuz I don't have my full >> Okay. Okay. So, what part of that don't you understand that? You have the right to remain silent and not answer any question. >> I don't understand that. >> Okay. So, you're refusing >> waving your I'm telling you that I I have a disability. >> Okay. >> She remained as calm as if she were truly innocent, but the truth about her was about to come to light. Listen to what the officers learned over the radio. >> Came back with a female born in 94 last name. I got >> she is on 40mate for grand active history of felony theft 31 criminal mischief >> resist with 31 LEO and act >> 31 on >> I deserve my time for that years ago eight years ago >> 1026 can you to me please >> I don't have a warrant anything do I >> Yes sir you're not under arrest at this No, I'm going to put my glasses on so you don't break them. >> I'll show you. I'm put them on. >> You being nice for no reason. >> What? >> Thank you. >> As long as you don't break them cuz they $700, baby. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> For no reason. Be a man. >> No, it did not come over. >> Clearly, she had a felony record and seemed familiar with dealing with officers. That explained her calmness as she kept playing the victim even while being escorted away. >> I'm going take her down. I'm come back. Yes, sir. >> I got to get her social [clears throat] just let you know. >> Okay, that's fine. >> If you need medics at any point, let me know. >> Yeah, I needed for the victim on you guys. >> I said I need you. Hm. >> I said I need >> I need to know for what before I go. >> Oh, I'm I'm feeling like I'm pass out. >> You feel like you're going to pass out? >> Have a panic attack. >> Okay. All right. No problem. >> Thank you. >> I'll call you once we get outside. >> Thank you. >> And that's for no reason when I just told you I >> That's not up to me, man. I told you. >> No, you even let me talk to the man. You talking about >> He don't want to talk to He didn't want to talk to me until you start until you start getting started. I >> play with your life. >> Play with my life. You push on mother. That's >> Yeah. All right. See that there's nothing in my car. If there's anything after you get out, it's on you. >> Again, like I said, I'm clasophobic. >> That's going to go on your property right now. >> Okay. I'm claustrophobic. >> Claustrophobic. >> Whatever you want to. You so smart, sir. You show You so smart. You should have been a damn sit. Please. Sit back. >> You I can't sit back. My hands behind my back. >> Okay. I need I need a seat belt. >> Okay, sir. My hands is behind my back. I'm at my lowest point. >> You don't want me to You don't want me to put you in a seat belt? >> I ain't saying I want you put my seat belt. You said sit back. sitting back. I have to reach across. >> Okay. And I'm sitting back. WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO? >> OKAY. All right. Sit back, please. >> I'm sitting back. >> Okay. >> If you were wondering whether this woman really had as many medical issues as she claimed, or if she was actually about to pass out, let's hear what the medical team had to say. >> How you doing? >> Huh? >> I didn't see you. I thought you moved him. >> You haven't seen me in forever from where? Remember when they had to set you down? >> Yeah. >> Your heart rate off. >> No, you went inside to drop something inside. >> 70. >> Okay. What is it? >> Yeah. Your health means you're perfect. >> Okay. But I'm having panic attack. So >> I don't know. No, it's not. >> Your oxygen saturation is 100%. Okay. >> And your heart rate is normal is 60 to 100. >> Okay. I'm just having I just saw mine had an anxiety attack. So I don't know what he did or he call >> calling EMS seemed like a waste of resources when she showed no signs of any medical problem. Meanwhile, a store employee gave a statement that clearly laid out the evidence against her. >> Okay. So basically when she came in, she I noticed that you know she came in a big bag. She she grabbed me of the pallets from Morphe and you know I was very suspicious of that due to the fact that when she grabbed it she looked at me and then went all the way to the back of the store. >> Mhm. >> So I found her a little bit suspicious. So I hurried up and ran to the back of the store >> so let my other managers know that just to keep an eye on suspicious customer. And then once I told him that, I came back into the sales floor >> and then from my managers in the camera were >> noticing that she was concealing the items and I was in the sales floor and I was seeing it for myself as well too. >> Okay. >> So what we did is we just informed each other and just let her build the basket so it just could be a lower price. >> Okay. So once I um you know I repeatedly seen her put the stuff in her bum purse but I gave her enough space so she didn't think that we were on to her. >> So as much as I can I stayed away from her got around customers came back. I think I only can her one time. Oh actually no before all that I gave her one of the orange um ultra bags because she had all the items in her hand. >> So I gave her to her and say hey you seem like you have a couple items in your hand. Do you want an ultra bag to carry them? Oh, yeah. Thank you. So, she grabbed the ultra bag, but usually we do that just so we have a way to count the items that they have already in their hand. >> So, I give it to their I thought she was going to say no, but she took it. So, she took it >> and then what she did is she for she just >> after like I say like maybe 10 or five minutes, she took everything out the bag after she consumed it. >> The ultra bag and put the ultra bag somewhere else. the she hide it somewhere else and then pull her own bag out. >> So that's when I noticed when she pulled her own bag out and I didn't see the hotel back no more, but I didn't see nothing to her. Just let her keep concealing the items until until we until they she they kept concealing concealing and then she just walked out. >> In the end, the woman was charged with grand theft under Florida statute 812.014. If convicted of thirdderee grand theft, she could face up to 5 years in prison and $5,000 in fines. This case showed that staying calm and playing the victim could not erase the evidence. When surveillance footage and witness statements told a different story, her excuses only made things worse. >> Stop touching my baby. I don't care. I don't WANT TO TOUCH HIM. >> Get off the 911. If you call 9 If you call 911 again, you will get charged with misuse of 911. On the 12th of December 2024, officers received a report from Walmart about a group of four people suspected of shoplifting. When the officers approached them, they directly addressed the allegation. [music] Let's see how they reacted. >> They have you skip scanning. Okay. >> I didn't want one person talking. >> I She helped me. I scared everything she bag. I literally only got two things of meat. Ground beef and ground in the bag. Look, y'all. Look, I just pause. Okay, we're going to all walk inside. I'm not going to make sure you guys are I have a one-year-old baby. I swear I said we are going to are going to walk. I'm not doing all that with my baby. I swear I LOVE YELLING. We're not yelling. We need everybody. It doesn't matter. I don't have an ID if I'm underage. What's your first and last name? >> I don't know it. Okay. You want to go in handcuffs? >> Just not my footsteps. I didn't pay for nothing. Okay. >> All four of you are suspects. You're not going to give us nothing. I'm not going to You're not going to give us your name. You're going to be arrested. You're a suspect. I'm not a suspect because I invest. >> Okay. Stop texting me. I'm about to get my ID. But I was at a different register for them. So, watch out. I know right now is you're a suspect. So, you're going to get >> Did you see me scan anything? Why do y'all got a video of me scanning and why are you talking? Stop touching me. >> You're about to go in handcuffs. >> Handcuff. Stop touching me. I feel offended. I JUST SAID I WOULD GIVE YOU MY ID. BACK UP. >> THE suspects repeatedly interrupted the officers, making the situation even more difficult to control. [music] The woman in the yellow jacket only escalated things further, using her rights as an excuse to interfere with the investigation. >> Okay, so back up. You don't back up. I do. [laughter] I know my I know my rights. >> SO DO I. OKAY. I HAVE RIGHTS, TOO. I do, too. >> So, do you want to go in here? Do you want to back up so I can get my ID? >> You want your ID, too? >> I don't got my meow. >> I didn't scan anything. And he look. So, why are you touching me? Why are you harassing me? >> What's your name and badge number? >> You have no idea what you're talking about. >> I do. I do. Girl, I'm smart. I went to college. >> I scanned everything. >> Right. So, back up off me. What's your name and badge number? >> What are we on about? What's your name and badge number? Right here. You can see it. >> No, I don't I don't know how to read. >> I got dyslexia. I got >> I got dyslexia. What's your name and bad? We're going to go inside now. What's your name and badge number? >> Are you refusing to give me your name and bash number? You're refusing to ID. What's your name and badge number? You're refusing to ID myself. Okay. >> They got my number. They got my ID. Okay. >> What's the name and badge number? >> We're going to put some people. >> Okay. Number one. >> No. Don't touch me. Stop touching me. I didn't do nothing. I don't have a ID. You want to fight? >> Don't touch me. I didn't do nothing. Stop touching me. >> And you're doing this in front of my baby. That's how putting my baby in the car. Like I said, I have a one-year-old baby. >> They repeatedly mentioned the younger member they had with them as if they were trying to use them as a shield. Concerned about the younger member's safety, the officers [music] tried to remind the woman. >> Put your baby in the car. You can't get in the car. Put your baby in the car. >> I'm not doing this with you. >> I'm not I'm going to go back here. Okay. I can walk. You want I don't need you to touch me. I'm grown as [ __ ] about 2 feet. Okay. Two feet. You're going to have a seat in your back. Please don't touch. I can't. Wait. What am I even >> You're being the same right now. Get over here. I'm kicking. >> All right. Come on. I did. You're >> going to have a seat. You're going to have a seat. So, have a seat. >> A seat. Don't touch me. I can I can get what am I? You're all being detained. What am I being detained for if I gave my name already? >> Do you got your name? >> Yes. Okay. My name What's your knees at? >> What's your knees at? >> What's your name? >> What am I WHAT AM I IN A CAR FOR? >> I don't want my baby. I DON'T WANT MY BABY. He's easily SOMEBODY like my baby's already. That's not my baby. He easily gets sick. I did. My name is >> Okay. It's my life. NO. BACK OFF. >> QUIT TOUCHING ME WITH MY BABY. STOP TOUCHING MY BABY. HE EASILY get sick. I DON'T CARE. I DON'T WANT YOU TOUCHING HIM. STOP TOUCHING HIM. HE EASILY GET SICK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU GOT THE WHOLE TIME. BACK THE >> NO, YOU HIT HIS FACE. I JUST SAID HE EASILY GET SICK. ALL RIGHT. CAN WE PLEASE PUT THE BABY DOWN? YOU'RE NOT GOING to I'm telling you right now, I get that. You're not going to use the baby as a defense for us not >> anything. >> None of the women showed any signs of cooperating and the situation only became more tense. [music] So, the officers made a different decision. They allowed the woman to bring her child with her while she was being escorted. >> We're not doing that. >> Quit touching me. LOOK AT ME WALKING. >> CAN YOU GET HER OFF ME? I'M SITTING DOWN. I DON'T NEED your baby. Okay. I can't. I don't need you to make me sick. >> No, you don't. Don't touch him. Watch your >> DON'T TOUCH HIM. DON'T TOUCH HIM. Don't touch him. >> DON'T TOUCH HIM. Sit down. Don't touch them. What's your name and bath number? Like I said, what's her name and bring your legs in and what's HER NAME AND WHAT'S HER NAME and number 10 >> because you're making us do this and then stop using >> I'm going to go talk to them and see what the hell's going on. This part right here. >> All four are suspects. Okay. IDA, but the meat is going to be >> 911. Where's the location of your emergency? Uh Walmart and stuff. They It's some officers on the scene refusing to get >> Get off the 911. If you call 9 If you call 911 again, you will get charged with misuse of 911. >> I refuse. >> Hang up the phone. >> The woman called 911, putting herself at risk of facing a charge for misusing the emergency line. She showed no remorse. And despite her family trying to calm the situation, she continued to make everything even more complicated. Go back TO THE COURT. >> I am to God. I am taking THIS [ __ ] TO COURT. >> OKAY. SO, step out. We're going to put you in handcuffs. Okay. >> WHEN DO I DO NOT GIVE YOU MY NAME? >> WHEN DID I GIVE YOU MY NAME? >> Step out. >> NO, NOT MY SISTER GAVE YOU MY NAME. >> Y'ALL LITERALLY said I WAS ARRESTED FOR HER DEATH AND DIDN'T EVEN STEP out of the car. >> I said I won't sue you for some fact. I SWEAR TO GOD. WHAT'S YOUR NAME? I'm taking Stop IN MY HAIR. >> YOU'RE TRYING TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE WAY. >> OKAY, I CAN DO THAT. I DIDN'T LIKE HOW YOU move forward. Annoyed by you. I just got here under arrest. I'm just I'm taking y'all to LIKE Y'ALL IS A LAME MOTHER. I SWEAR TO GOD. I GOT EVERYTHING ON CAMERA. >> ME, TOO. >> ME, TOO. CUZ I LITERALLY SAID GAVE MY NAME. SHE GAVE HER ID. I DON'T GOT IT. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? I GAVE YOU MY NAME. YOU CAN'T LOOK ME UP BY MY NAME. What the literally JUST HAD MY PICTURE THE WHOLE TIME ACT. >> In the end, the store did not pursue theft charges against them, but because of the woman's own actions, she was convicted of obstructing official business, [music] misusing 911, and disorderly conduct. Next, this older woman pretended to be innocent after assaulting another customer. >> Oh, I came in to just order some food and people were freaking out >> and I didn't know >> something started. She was yelling in her face and then she pushed her and then she's conversational. >> On the 28th of June 2026, officers responded to a McDonald's after receiving a report of a physical altercation between two female customers. As soon as they arrived, one of the women stepped forward and voluntarily gave her account of what had happened. >> So, I came here weekend to get food. I was on the phone with my friends. She comes, she's like, "You cannot lower your voice. Lower your voice." >> Sorry, but I'm just mad. She's like, "Oh, sorry. I'm Cuban. That's the way I speak." Like, I tried to lower my voice. This is the way I speak. >> I know. I'm Cuban, too. >> She was like, "You cannot talk like that in McDonald's. You cannot do this." And I'm mind you, I was just on the phone with my friend. So, I'm just telling her, "Mind your business." Like I'm on the phone with my friend. So she starts screaming at me, telling me a whole bunch of [ __ ] calling me a saying that my mom >> person >> her that old person sitting right there. She's saying that my mom didn't raise she her she's saying that my mom didn't raise me, right? She's saying all these stuff. So I come up to her like say one more stuff. I'm on the phone with my friend. He was pulled up. He like seen everything. She's like oh um I pulled up to her like say one more thing about my mom. Like what is wrong with you? She's like, "Oh, your mom. I didn't even hear what she said." But she's like, "You're a your mom didn't raise your." So, I'm getting mad and then she starts grabbing my chain. She ripped one of my chains. And then I lost the other one. I don't know where it went. And that's when she >> Do you have your ID with you? >> No, not on me. >> Not on me. >> All right. How old are you? >> I'm 19. >> Okay. Do me a favor. Have a seat. I'll be right back. >> The officer then spoke with the other woman involved in the incident. Her version of events was completely different as she insisted that she had done nothing wrong and claimed nothing had happened to justify the confrontation. >> Cham, what's going on? >> Hi, how are you? >> Good. >> Oh, I came in to just order some food and people were freaking out >> and I didn't know what was going on and the Navy guy said, "Back up, back up, back up." And I I started backing up. >> Excuse me, sir. >> Navy. Navy guy, do me a favor. Stand right here. >> Continue. >> I was waiting for my food. I have my food. I wanted to walk out. She grabbed me by the back of the hair. Ripped my earbuds out. >> Okay. >> And [ __ ] started. >> And what's the reason she What's the reason she done that for? >> I have no idea. >> Do you have the idea? Absolutely. I do. >> Because the two women gave completely conflicting accounts of the incident, [music] the officer began interviewing the witnesses nearby to determine what had actually happened. >> I know you all didn't see nothing, but did you see something? >> What went on? >> Anything? Did you all see anything? >> Oh, I did. >> Did you? >> Did you? You got the older lady and you got the younger lady. Are you friends with with any of them? >> I mean, I'm associates with the young girl >> with the young girl. >> You know what happened? >> Oh, I guess from what I seen I seen that video one of that girl right here in the green. She has a video of the the older woman getting up all up in her face and then she touched her chest and then obviously she she uh I don't know what happened. >> That's the video. >> The one in the green right there. >> Look it up. You better tell her to look it up. Stop talking. >> But it's not worth it. >> I understand. >> Hey, friend, just stop. Just stop. Just stand there and don't talk. >> I look this way. I I Okay, I'll just look this way. >> I'm not trying to have trouble. I can't figure some damn want to go home. >> From what I seen, like they were both getting in each other's faces. They were chest to chest, but the older lady's the one who put her finger on her chest, though. I will say that. >> Are you friends with her? with who? >> All the group right here. Do you have a video? I might have seen what happened. >> I know. I know all of them. >> Hold on. Did you have a video? What happened? >> I don't have a video. I I walked in here and all this [ __ ] happened, but I'm trying to clean it up because I feel bad apparently. >> All right. >> How you doing? >> Every witness stated that the older woman had started the incident, further proving that she was pretending to be innocent. One witness also had video evidence. >> Beginning like the very very beginning. This is when [screaming] the touching started. She was yelling in her face and then she pushed her and then she's conversational. So pushing her is the wrong idea. >> Like like anybody knows pushing her is the wrong idea cuz she's conversationalized in her face. [screaming] >> Yeah. very straight. But how it all started is he went to the bathroom and she's coming back out of the bathroom. She's on the phone with her friend and she's cussing with her friend because she thinks because who your friend [screaming] come right here and she's still cussing at him on the phone. She was her and we're standing right there. She wants to turn around and say something to her about why she was being so disrespectful. And then she said, >> she said, "Your mother raised the you guys are so disrespectful." And then that's when she wanted to get closer and then she wanted to yell at her face and the very first contact, like the actual contact, [laughter] she chest bumped her. >> Okay. >> Okay. I just want to say that she got a thing in her face and yelled at her chest. >> The officer continued interviewing other witnesses, including employees in the store manager. Every account confirmed that the older woman had initiated the physical contact, but she continued avoiding responsibility and pretending to be innocent. >> Search everything I have. I don't have anything to do with that anything that girl has. She attacked me and I just want to go home. >> Okay, come here. Yes, absolutely. >> Yeah, sure me. >> Do me a favor. Turn around. Of course. Stop moving. >> I'm sorry. >> Where are you going? >> I'm sorry. I just wanted your hands behind your back. >> Of course. Of course. >> Am I being detained or arrested? >> You're being arrested >> for what? >> Disorderly conduct at at the minimum. >> For For why? cuz you are I I don't even know how where to begin to explain if you don't understand. >> Um I came in to get my food at McDonald's. I don't know what I did. >> Can you tell me? >> That's the part of the problem is you don't know what you did. >> You don't understand. Have you been drinking tonight? >> Yeah. >> Um I had a couple drinks at Bobby's here. >> I came here. >> Yeah. You drove here? >> Um no, I didn't drive here. I don't drive. >> Okay. >> Come on, Paul 46. I have one female. 10:15. >> Careful. >> Okay. Walk careful down the stairs. Yep. Just like you said. And we're going over to this patrol car over here. >> Okay. >> Do you have anything on you that's going to poke me, sick me? >> No, not at all. >> Okay. Anything? Any drugs? >> No. >> Weapons? >> No, ma'am. >> Um I tell everybody if you don't tell me and I don't find it, we get it into the jail. That's a felony. >> No, ma'am. I have a um I have a um >> In the end, the older woman was charged with disorderly conduct, a first-degree misdemeanor. >> [music] >> A disagreement can quickly become a crime when someone chooses confrontation over self-control. No matter how strongly you feel, provoking a fight and then denying responsibility will not outweigh witness statements in the [music] evidence. >> Have you ever been arrested before, Laura? >> Yeah, I am. >> For what? >> I mean, >> for what? [snorts] >> But then when I found out it was $600, it's like, I didn't realize. On the 21st of January 2026, [music] police received a report from Target that they had detained an elderly woman for shoplifting. [music] And more importantly, this was not her first offense. When officers arrived at the scene, the employee also recounted everything that had happened beforehand. >> So, they were finishing up like the Tennessee for the total amount and stuff, but I do have this um lady over here today. She basically came in, selected a bunch of merchandise, scrap purses, started filling them up, and then she passed. I apprehended her. Um, she's been very compliant. Um, but she's just telling me right now that [music] I think she does have like prior history with like retail back. So, >> okay. >> Um, here's her. >> Okay. >> Sam, what can you help me? >> How much? What is it? >> Um, Lori, I'll tell you right now cuz they're bringing the receipt. >> Laura, is this still your current address in Warrenville? >> I'm here. >> Is this still your current address in Warrenville? my truck. >> Okay. Okay. What's going on, Laura? >> Pardon me. >> What? What? What's going on? >> I don't know how much it is. >> Okay. So, you just put stuff in your bag. >> Yes, it was in the cart. >> Okay. >> It was clear that the woman was hard of hearing, making communication somewhat difficult. However, she later used her hearing impairment as an excuse to try to lessen her responsibility for what had happened. >> You had no intentions to pay for your stuff. >> I'm pardon me. You had no intentions to pay for your stuff. You didn't want to pay. >> Yes, I was going to go ahead and go to the run register. I didn't mean to go. I lost a key. >> Okay. >> And I was going to go ahead and um I thought maybe I had dropped it on on the way in. So, I asked her. I knew that she worked here. Um, even though she wasn't in uniform. >> Okay. >> Um, and I and I was hard of hearing to where I didn't hear her. >> Okay. >> And I thought she was talking to me and I went out the first door, not the second door. Mhm. >> And I was asking her a question and she was saying something and I didn't hear her and she just wanted me to come in the office. >> Okay. >> So, I'm here. >> But was this excuse really convincing when she showed little sign of remorse even while she was pleading with the officers afterward? >> Have you done this before? >> Yes, I did. Please don't arrest me because I'm going to go in jail. I have one case I have to go to, please. >> What? What? Uh, what store? >> I won't do it yet. I promise. >> What store? Is it for another Target? >> I have to stand up. >> I'm sorry. Is it for another Target? What's >> No, not another Target. >> Okay. >> Walmart. >> Oh, perfect. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> You can take a seat. You can sit down. >> Now remember, I'm hard here. I'm deaf in one ear. >> Better that one. Okay. Okay. Oh, careful. >> Okay. Okay. What would you guys like to have done? >> Okay. All right. So, >> how much you got? >> 665. >> Okay. So, >> the stolen merchandise was worth $667. Enough to support the theft charge. It was only after hearing that figure that she finally began to show concern. >> $667. >> How do you $600? >> It's all the merchandise. It's I know. It's the glasses, the bows, everything. It's expensive. >> Oh my god. >> I did not realize it was too much. What was it? Basically up. >> Uh I >> the sunglasses family. >> The sunglasses and the purses. The purses are expensive. Like everything like that's accessories like jewelry like all of that is expensive. So yeah. >> Oh my god. I look at the prices. I'm for sure be arrested. Oh god. [music] I can't stop. I would have made it. >> What's your name? >> I would have had that kind of money. What's your name? Yes. >> Your name? >> Harvey. >> Your name? >> Laura. >> Laura. Okay. >> Her remorse also appeared far from genuine as she later admitted to her history of offenses and even revealed that she was already dealing with a pending case. >> Have you ever been arrested before, Laura? >> Yeah, I have. >> For what? >> I mean, >> for what? >> Okay. How many times? >> Never this much. >> How many times? Um, three times. >> Okay. >> A long time ago. >> When was the last time you were arrested? The last time. >> Last time I'm um I I have one right now and this one. >> Okay. That's why I can't be I I maybe going to one door. I was going to pay for this, but I think that was too much. >> I got you. I'm going to read you your rights. Okay. You know what your Miranda rights are? I'm going to read your rights. Okay. >> I I want you to listen because I know you're saying you have a hard time hearing. So, just >> Yeah. They're already >> Okay. So, listen to me, okay? Cuz this is important. This is just like the movies. I got to read it to you. Do you understand that? Okay. Now I feel more comfortable talking to you because you're telling me all kinds of stuff. Okay. >> Why did the uh why did the lady leave? >> She still showed no intention of taking responsibility for her actions. As soon as she left the office, she once again claimed that she had been set up. >> I asked her. I didn't There's Hang on. Hang on. Hang on one second. Laura, I can help you out. Hang on. Oh, well, >> I asked her about the key. I didn't hear her when I took some more steps in. >> I was like as if I felt like I was trapped. >> Okay. >> Do you follow me? >> Hm. Did I follow you? >> No. No. No. Her when I the manager there. >> Yeah. >> I took one step but got really completely in. I asked her about the red key that I had lost and I didn't hear her and she was the corn in the corner up to the second door. >> Okay. >> And I felt like it just it was entrament. >> Okay. You'll be able to when you when you have that court date, you'll be able to talk to the judge and let them know about what's going on. Okay. That's why you have that that court date. Okay. Thank you. >> Yep. Make sure you get in. And I'm going to grab the seat belt so that we can wrap it around you so you can be safe. >> But then when I found out it was $600, it's because I didn't realize but I didn't really see the [ __ ] >> Yeah. >> I I was really out of it. Okay. >> All right. >> Laura was arrested and charged with theft after Target determined that the merchandise she took was worth $667. She was also trespassed from that target location for 1 year. Repeated offenses and refusing to take responsibility can make a suspect's excuses far less convincing, especially when the evidence clearly shows their actions.
