Don't touch me. Don't touch me. >> You're being put into handcuffs right now. >> No. No. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. >> Okay, ma'am. >> Okay. I saw you shake your head. >> On July 29th, 2024, police received a call from Ross Dress for Less about a woman refusing to leave the store. They immediately arrived on scene and spoke with an employee who revealed that she had many actions that were far from simple. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Where is she right now? >> Uh, she's back to the home section. So, she's been here um she's been here a few times and we kicked her out, >> but right now we tried. She's like, "You're being um discriminatory." >> Why is she saying that she black or something? >> No, she's not. >> Okay. Uh so, you've told her to leave? >> Yeah, I have. >> Okay. Uh >> and she's just like, "No." And I was like, "Are we waiting for someone?" I was like, "How about let's just let's just grab onto her, have her ID, and then we'll trust her." >> Okay, that's fine. Cuz we did see some stuff that was in her purse, but we don't know if it's hers or not. >> Is it from your store, do you think? We don't I think so cuz she came in here with an empty bag >> and now that bag's not empty anymore. >> She also did have a ton of stuff in her car and we approached her. We noticed that like more than half of it. Yeah. >> Do you want her Do you just want her gone? Do you like what out of the store? >> Do you want me to try to trespass her or just be like get out of here? >> Just Yeah. Get out of here. >> Okay. Do So and I I just want to make sure I understand. Do you want us to go through like the official trespass process? No. Oh, cool. All right, we'll scare her a little bit. And just so you know, she gets one opportunity. So, I'm going to say get your stuff and go. If she says no, if she does not start going, she's going to go to jail. Just so you know. >> That was the police's initial plan. And when they actually approached the woman, she was truly suspicious as everything confirmed by her words. No ID and no intention to allow her bag to be checked. >> How's it going? >> Oh, I'm all right. How are you? >> All right. They want you to to get going. >> Okay. That's not mine anyways. >> Sorry. >> So, what's in here? Do you want to show me what you have in there? Just make sure you don't have any Ross stuff. >> Oh, I'm okay. I don't have anything though. >> Well, do do you mind showing me? Just Just so I can look. >> I kind of do. >> Okay. >> But I don't have anything. I just have other stuff that I wouldn't really want to see, you know. >> Oh, that's understandable. Sometimes we have some privacy. What's your first You have an ID with you? >> Um, I don't. >> Okay. What's your first name? >> Julia. >> Hi, Julia. Nice to meet you. Well, Julia, if you don't if nothing's going on, we'll get you out of here and you'll be on your way and you can go on with your life. Okay. Does that sound like a plan? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I really hope I don't have anything. I think I might have missed >> control 5241. Can you uh run it in, please? >> Is your idea to wash it organ? >> It's Oregon, but I think I might have um Dave, but I really hope we'll check >> 14. Thank you. >> Yeah, >> I'll let you know in just a second here. Okay. >> Hopefully not. >> Okay. I really hope not. I don't think so. What was Do you remember what >> was the date? >> 28th. >> 28th >> of July. >> Yeah. 28th of July. >> Okay. >> We'll see. I'll let you know. >> Do you know uh what I was? >> No. No. >> The woman's anxiety grew and the difficulties for the officers began to emerge. Her attempt to flee subtly confirmed her wrongdoing and caused chaos across the store aisles. >> Julia. Julia. >> Julia, stop. Julia, stop. Relax. >> No. No. No. I don't I don't have any camera. No. No. Don't Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. You're being put into handcuffs. No. No. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. >> Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. >> Hey, let's lower the ground. >> Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. No. No. No. No. No. Onto the ground. >> No. Don't. Get off me. Get off of me now. >> Julia, you're under arrest. Get off me now. >> No. No. Get off of me now. >> Hey, >> get off of me. Get off of me now. >> Get off of me now. Get off of me now. >> No. No. No. No. No. Get off of me. >> Send your arm out. >> Get off of me now. >> Get off of me now. No. Get off of me now. Get off of me now. No. No. I got her hands. Get off of me. Now, >> here's what's going to happen, Julia. >> Get out of me. >> You're going to put your hands behind your back, okay? And we're going to put you in handcuffs cuz you're under arrest. You understand? [sighs] >> Yes. You understand, right? >> Yes. >> Cuz this isn't going to get any better. >> You understand that, too, right? So, I'm going to release one hand. You're going to put it behind your back. >> Okay. >> You're going to lie flat on the ground right now. >> I got it. >> Can you get off my hair, please? >> Not on your hair. >> Well, you were. You were. >> Our code recover can slow down. >> Just need one additional unit. We have ear cuffs. >> Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ. At least let me take this one off. >> Yep. Julia, just so you know, so you can learn from your mistakes, I would The jail might not even have taken on your warrant, but now you're at now you're at a felony. >> No, no, no, no, no. >> If you paid close attention, her slow speech and dazed gaze were signs of being under the influence of something. And at that moment, she even admitted it herself. >> Just stuff. Okay. >> I swallowed something. >> You what? >> I swallowed something. >> Okay. >> You swallowed what? My pills. >> Your pills. What kind of pills are they so we know what to tell the medics if they got to come take care of you? >> Can you speak up? >> You can't speak up. >> I don't know what kind of pills you swallowed. Like Advil or you talking drugs? >> Huh? >> Xanax. Oh, she says she swallowed some Xanax. So, we'll probably need MR. >> It's going to go right out this door. >> This way. Put your butt in first. >> I have blues. >> Huh? You got blues? >> No, I have. >> You had them? >> Can you put your feet in? >> Scoot your butt up a little. Sit up on the chair. All right, you got her. >> Yeah, I'll hang out here. >> Immediately after taking her into custody, police searched the woman's bag. And just as they had suspected, while at this point, she had completely lost awareness and showed no concern for the chaos she'd caused. >> What do I need to do? Um, >> uh, can you bring all this stuff in with the Ross tags and see if it's theirs? >> Yep. I'll check, please. Thank you. >> Hey, can we check to see if this stuff belongs to the store? Yeah, that does. >> Yeah. >> From this door, I guess it doesn't really matter. >> Yep. Ros, >> it rings up. >> Ross and all right, >> ma'am. >> Ma'am. >> What's your first name? >> Julia. >> What's that? >> Julia. >> Julia. >> Can I please lay down? >> You have name, right? Go. >> Can I please lay down? Can you what? >> Uh, you're going to be all right. Lay down. >> Be out here in a second though when the market gets here. >> Still awake. >> Hi. >> I hear you. >> Okay. >> The suspect was charged with resisting arrest, theft, and criminal impersonation. Following her arrest, officers found out that she had assumed a family member's identity to evade recognition, leading to extra charges of criminal impersonation. When speaking with the family member, they confirmed that the suspect had used their identity twice, which had resulted in warrants being mistakenly issued under her name. Using someone else's identity to cover up crimes only worsens the consequences, leading to extra felony charges and trouble for others. The next case, this pitiful woman, after committing her crime, tried to use sympathy to escape punishment. >> Come on, arrest me. >> Stop. Turn. >> I don't have nothing. I don't have anything. >> Turn around. [laughter] >> On November 17th, 2024, police received a report of a woman shoplifting Family Dollar. But it didn't stop there. She even brandished a firearm to threaten the staff. When officers approached, she pretended nothing had happened because there was nothing in her bag. >> But I gave it back to him. I was still in, but I gave it back to him. >> Why you arresting me? >> Stop. Turn around. >> I don't have nothing. Okay. I don't have anything. >> Turn around. >> I don't got nothing. >> Turn around. >> I don't have nothing. Why you grabbing me? >> Turn around. >> Okay. But I don't have nothing. But why are you grabbing me? I don't have nothing. >> Turn around and you'll be charged with arrest. >> I don't have nothing. You just grabbing me. He got it back. I never took nothing out the store. >> I never took nothing out the store. I'm not doing nothing but y'all grabbing me. >> I didn't even do nothing. You just grabbing me >> like you just was grabbing me for nothing. I'm under rush for nothing. I don't got nothing in my purse. I didn't take anything or nothing. He kept trying to run up on me. Although she was told not to take anything else, she thought that since she had returned everything, she didn't deserve to be treated this way. >> You You have to understand we stepped out. >> Okay, babe. You ain't got to tell him nothing. >> You immediately said I was stealing. >> I know, but I Okay, but I gave it back to him. You feel me? >> How do we know that? >> I swear he took it. That's it was nothing but soap powder. >> So, we should just let you go after you commit crime. >> I didn't do nothing. I don't want I just want to >> take your word that you undid the crime. >> Yeah, I that's how it works. >> Can I tell y'all this? I had soap powder. He called me with the salt powder. I gave it back tomorrow >> and I left the store. That's all I say. Ain't nothing else. Ain't nothing ain't nothing else in that purse. I ain't got to lie. Ain't nothing else. Ain't nothing else. >> Go get my mom now. Go back to where I am cuz I ain't I ain't going to jail. I didn't do nothing. >> Like I ain't do [ __ ] Like damn. The way y'all was grabbing me, I'm trying to tell you like you feel I understand what y'all told you under arrest. You do not pull away. I did, but the way y'all grabbed me, I'm like, >> you were pulling away. >> I'm sorry. I apologize. >> Yes. For future reference, if you are told you're under arrest, stop it. >> But the investigation revealed that the woman's wrongdoing didn't stop there. Her vehicle registration had expired. This made her increasingly fearful of the consequences and finally realized her guilt. >> No. If it leaves the car, getting towed. >> I'm sorry. >> No, I'm saying can I >> Yes. Can you hold on just one moment? >> I'm confused on what you're saying. He said the tax card, but I'm asking his expired tags are expired. >> You guys need to go get license plates. >> He It's only been expired for a week of >> It doesn't matter with the temp tag the day >> one day expired. >> Okay, I know y'all. I did some dumb, but we ain't got to be like, you feel me? We ain't got to be like that. >> You guys can't drive that vehicle. >> Okay, I'm going to get the license drivers whose vehicle it is. >> You can't drive? >> Yeah. Bring the owner here so I can give him a ticket for letting her drive without a license. >> I'm sorry, ma'am. Just one second or I'll have Well, let's get her in the car. >> Why do I get in the car? I'm going to jail. >> Okay, >> you're under arrest at this point. Let me figure out if they want a fresh charge or not. >> And she's got one. >> Although she felt remorse, her actions only made things harder for the police. And her pleas for sympathy were attempts to change the outcome. >> Can you face the cruiser? >> No, I do got a daughter. I know for that. I'm not trying to give y'all no. >> You know, >> so far you've been very uncooperative. Can you face the cruiser? Because I ain't been in jail in a long time. >> That's That's why. the cruiser. Cooperate with us and we'll see what we're going to do. >> Thank you. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Sorry, I was about to >> I don't like I I got a daughter and I Listen, I I know I don't want to go to jail. >> Cooperate with us. >> Yeah, I don't want to go to jail. >> Let's just take it one step at a time. They're figuring out what's going on. I just arrived on scene. >> Look, I just want to just if I get a ticket, like I just want to go home to my daughter. >> Listen, just be cooperative and we'll figure it out. Okay. >> All right. So, just >> I know I know what I was I know I was wrong for that. I knew I was. Okay. Well, >> with something means you got to pay consequences. >> Uh, I'm sure they have video in there, but no audio. >> I'm really going to jail. >> I'm going to read you this, Mr. Walker. You're >> going to jail. >> Is that who you are? >> Well, I'm going to jail. >> Are you What did I forgot about? >> I'm going to read I'm going to read this to you. All right. >> And I got a daughter that's >> Miss Walker. Miss Walker. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand that right? >> What I'm getting arrest for >> at the very minimum theft. >> I'mma pay for it. I'm going past that point thing in my pocket to go home on my daughter. >> I'm sorry. I don't want to ask. >> Okay, I'm going to read this to you cuz I'm going to ask some questions for you. Okay, we're going to have a conversation. >> Her pleas certainly didn't help her escape punishment. They only made everything more complicated. >> I got a daughter. I did not want you. >> So, >> I please I would do anything. Walker, then let's get through this. >> I can get a ticket, please. I can't do my not food. What was I thinking again? I just wanted to wash my clothes and knew I had money. Like, >> can we get through this or not? >> Please, can I get a chance? >> Can you answer his question? Please stop with the the fake crime. >> I'm not because I ain't been in jail in a long time. I want to >> let him read you this and you want to go home and all this crap, but you're not letting us do what we have to do. >> Okay. Having these all these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me now? [snorts] >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what happened today? >> Nothing. I don't know what I was thinking. I Something was already winning. I went in there and grabbed some ties, some some soap powder. I didn't know he was going to see me. I ain't going to lie. I didn't know he was going to see me. And when he seen me, he said, "Can I have my ties back?" I said, "Yeah, you can have your ties back cuz I got money in me." And I that's when I walked out the I gave him my stuff and that's when I just he said, "Get out my store." And that was it. But when asked about threatening the employee, she insisted it was impossible, claiming she couldn't do such a thing. Yet, the statements from the employee told a very different story. >> Threaten them with a gun or say you had a gun or you >> already beating up somebody. I ain't threatening them with nothing. >> I'm telling you the honest truth. I know why she never took no toss. I know I should have paid for asked for him back and I gave them to him. I got a whole daughter that's waiting for me right now. I ain't about to threaten him with no damn >> So why are you out here? If you got money, why you out here stealing time? >> Because I thought I was I should never been doing that. >> I ain't got no gun. I ain't about to do that. I ain't been in trouble in a long time. I know it was done for me even going to steal them goddamn P them ties whatever they is and I got money. >> I ain't about to do that. I ain't about to risk my life for trying to shoot a man for some damn and that's the truth. I'm mad as I ever did that. Just want to go home to my daughter. >> Who was the other person you were with? No, that was my sister. I told her to go get my mom. >> Where's mom stay at? >> She stay up for her own self press. >> Is that where daughter's at? Where's daughter at? >> With my auntie them. They at the competition. >> Yeah. They just They're They're just saying that they told us that you threatened them with a gun. Not that you pulled one out. That you said you had one and you pulled it out and put it to >> a hell. I see. >> We We weren't here, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. We just happened to be across the bank when it started to come in and I can see him waving his flag. So, we had no knowledge of any of that. All right. >> But you know what I mean. >> I just want to go to my daughter and that's it. >> So, all right. Well, we got some things to figure out, okay? And then we'll let you know what's going to happen. Okay. >> The woman still tried to draw pity, but those tears were hers alone. Her statements only defended herself and did nothing to resolve the case. [laughter] [crying] >> Okay. Okay. So, you know the only other option to this if you don't want your child staying with your aunt, I'm going to take custody of your child and CSP is going to have to come. Correct. >> Why? Why? >> Because you were being arrested. >> Why? What is I going to jail for? >> Why can't I get a ticket? >> Because I'm tired of people doing this and everyone's begging for a ticket. >> All these people that that steal and shoplift, they do this. They get they sometimes they don't get caught and then they do it again somewhere else. And then the times they get caught then they give this side story about >> I'm not giving I'm not giving no s story but I just don't understand. I really got to go to sit in the county for this. I know it was wrong. I ain't going to lie and say it wasn't wrong but damn y it's better it's better stuff than >> you're owning up because you got caught. >> I never got Listen, I'm not owning up to it. >> I'm only up to it. Why would a man tell me to give him his stuff and then when I walk out the store he want to act like I I was about to him or do some weird stuff? >> I thought I could get away with it. So you're telling me? >> But you asking me a question. I'm not going to lie to you >> because you got caught. I'm telling you if if you didn't get caught today, you're telling me I'm going to receive a call from you at your house saying, "Hey, I want to own up to to me stealing today." I would have got that call today. >> What you I'm not confused. >> If you didn't get caught right now, right? You made it home. You're telling me you're going to sit on your couch later. >> No, but I feel why would I call Listen, >> because that's what I'm saying. You're only owning up to because you got caught. But for real to send me to the county for this and I could understand if I hit the man, disrespect the man, call the man hoes to listen to police >> cuz I didn't understand why y'all grabbed me like that. >> You literally said you knew that you were stealing. >> But I didn't I didn't know they was going to grab me the way they grabbed me. I didn't know they was about to do this to me. Not over no ties. I didn't know that. People get shot. I didn't know that. I was scared the way y'all grabbed me, y'all. Man, I didn't know that. >> Keep saying people get shot. But guess what would happen to prevent us from having to do that and putting our lives in danger to get in that situation? Just don't break the law. >> The woman was arrested and charged with armed theft and threatening behavior at Family Dollar. Trying to manipulate sympathy and deny responsibility never works. Her attempts only complicated the investigation and ensured she faced consequences. It's a clear reminder that deceit and ignoring the law will catch up with you. Worse still, this thief ended up in jail simply because she was fed up with the benefit system. >> Because of this, just bring me homeless. Take me out of my career for this. No. Take me out the system. And you know what? You fat [ __ ] Did I ask you something? Did I ask you something? Stick a dick in your mouth. >> On October 10th, 2023, police responded to an ongoing shoplifting at Walmart involving a woman with a child. She casually pushed her fully loaded cart through the store, completely unaware she was being watched by store staff and police. >> How long she already been in the store? >> I watch her at 7:40 with her stuff full, her bag is full and stuff now. Oh, she walking towards the front when I y >> there. It's already making noise. What is that supposed to be? >> No, y'all people going to go stop her. Hey. Uhuh. Look, look. Go ahead. You catch. Go ahead. >> Just as the cameras showed, she was stopped by store security, but tried to push through. Yet, the police ensured her attempt would not go unchallenged. Best, you can go right in here. You can step inside these people know I'm leaving. >> No, step inside. No, no, no. Don't touch nothing. miss. You have any weapons on you? All right. You turn around. >> I eat every day. I eat every day, but I do have a family to support. >> Okay, miss. You can put the chips down. >> All right. I do. I don't do what? >> Put the chips down for me. >> Appreciate it. >> All right. You know, >> turn around. It's going to ser you spread your feet apart. Spread your feet apart. >> It seems she still believes she was in the right, even munching on unpaid snacks right in front of the police. And indeed, she reacted with tense, defiant words to every accusation. >> Who's the problem? >> You're shoplifting, man. Not >> not shoplifting. >> So what's that stuff? They come and they pay for my stuff. They've been doing it. >> Have a seat for me. >> You got to show the act. You don't know what's going on. You all know what's going on with sniper. >> Have a seat for me. >> They pay for my stuff. >> Have a seat for me. >> It pisses me off. You You trying to act like you don't know what's going on in here. You people come and they pay for my stuff. They legit idiot. What you do? Set people up on their system. Do this. This is not right. Can you put me on the system? What you on the system for? Well, I want to know. Can you tell me that? Will you tell me why I'm on the system? Please. Can you please tell me why I'm on this system? Everything in that bag is not theirs. >> You know it's ours. So you ain't >> Okay. I was just telling you watch me for a whole hour thing. You got to take me off this system. This is not fair to me and my family. Take me off this system. I can't work. I can't do anything on this system. I want to be off this system. The woman possessed a system that granted her certain benefits. But the reason she committed the theft is unclear, though she certainly completely despised the system that gave her those benefits. >> Now, you take me out the system, I go to work, fill an application today, but you have to take me out this system. The system drives me nuts. Now, take me off the system and I go back to work. I just drive a goddamn tanker truck, a truck driver, and I can show you my ID. I want to go back to work. You took me out the system. You took me out of the system and then you ruined my career and you made me homeless and I want to go back to work. But that's what you did for me and my family. Now you get messed up and I go back to work and this is it. This system has been me for the past four years. And I'm sick of it cuz this not going to work. You're not going to use me like this. I have a 12y old that I have to see about you're not going to pay me for my life like this anymore. For the past four years, I've been going through this mess. I'm tired of it. >> The woman completely used everyone around her as outlets for her frustration. Even when no one truly listened or tried to calm her, she kept talking about the system she herself had put herself into. Ma'am, >> chill out. >> Who took me out the truck? That's all I want to know. Did you do it? >> Ma'am, chill out. >> Did you do it? That's what I'm asking. >> Have we ever met a question? >> No, we ain't never met. >> A question. >> Sit down. Chill out. >> I'm already sick. Don't act like I had to chill out. >> Okay, you understand? I'm sick. So don't act like I'm not sick. Okay, now you stay where you are and I'm going stay where I am and that's the agreement. But I want to know who took and out my trunk and put me in this goddamn system. >> Okay, now sit down and be quiet. Okay. >> Why you keep telling me to sit down >> and be quiet? >> Why do you keep telling me to sit down >> when I'm sitting down? [ __ ] keep telling me that you want to come over here >> and be quiet. >> I'm asking you a question. Did you take me out my truck? >> Ma'am, you continue like this, this ain't going to be just a written piece of paper. >> I'm going tell you what. If you continue to talk to me and you lying to me, talking about sit down and everybody can see that I'm sitting down, your ass is going to be grass. Now, I bet you that you got me set up on this system. That's what she's done. Who are you? Turn around and look at your face. Turn around. Turn around. I want to see your face. >> In reality, she was talking only to herself about her own problems with no justification left for her wrongdoing. The police made their move, but it was far from easy. Set me up for this. Let me get this on this goddamn system. This is what pissing me off. >> I want to know who the [ __ ] keep put me on this system. Keep me on this system for 4 years and took me out of my career. Who is doing this? >> Hold on one second. Let me just do this real quick. >> My goddamn 12-year-old suffering from this stupid ass is dumb. All right, you can have a seat. This is the dumbest I' ever seen in my goddamn life. I tell you what, just shoot me cuz I'm not I'm not I'm not I don't really care no more. I really don't. I know I'm not. Just go ahead and shoot. No, I'm not. >> Ma'am, have a seat. I'm not Don't make this hurt. >> She faking. She good. Ma'am, come on and get on. >> Ma'am, get on up right now. >> You got a little warrant for a gun to appear. It's not even >> I'm not living like this no goddamn law. >> So So what you >> So do what the you got to do. >> We going to take you to jail. That's what we >> You know I don't have a reason to go to jail cuz I don't have a [ __ ] warrant. You ruined my goddamn life. >> And it turned out her resentment didn't stop at the system she mentioned. She even directed it at those around her, unleashing a torrent of insults toward the police. >> I will. And what you going to do? >> Well, she will help you if you calm down. >> You know what, you fat [ __ ] Did I ask you something? Did I ask you something? Stick a dick in your mouth. >> I'm good on that. >> Yeah, I know you are. You're very good on it cuz that's what you do. >> I never tried. >> Yes, you have. You've been doing it all your goddamn life. >> Goddamn child molester. Get me off this goddamn floor. >> Ma'am, put your feet up under. >> There you go. All right. >> Where the [ __ ] is the woman from? >> Cuz it came back. Where is it from? >> Is it where? From where? To from where? >> Right in the front. >> From where? >> Where is it from? >> The cab. Most likely, man. >> No, it's not cuz I don't have anything at the cab. Everything in the cab is clear. >> Okay. >> Everything in the cab is clear. I know that for a fact. >> Okay. Let's go. >> Everything in this cab is cliff. You just trying to find something. >> She going to search. >> Uh, she search her again real quick >> just to make sure. Make sure she ain't got nothing in them. >> Take these goddamn handcuffs. I'll fix them. I'll adjust them or do something cuz this [ __ ] hurt. The woman was charged with theft by shoplifting. Ignoring the law and taking out anger on others only makes things worse. Failing to control emotions and choosing to steal led to serious legal consequences for herself. Next, the couple familiar with the officers from church would soon meet them behind bars. >> How am I like trying to get it off? >> Oh, bro. >> Okay. >> I paid for everything I have. I got money. See, [music] mom steel. Thanks. >> On August 17th, 2023, police were dispatched to Burlington Coat Factory after receiving a report of a shoplifting incident. The two suspects included one man and one woman. When officers arrived at the scene, the man immediately ran upon seeing them, which led police to secure the entire area. >> Get on the ground. >> Lay down. I'm laying down. I'm laying down. Yeah. >> Okay. >> I did get a pair of shoes right there. >> Okay. You know what I mean? >> Okay. >> I'm sorry for >> I bet you we got to take You going to have to take that? >> Yeah. >> In fact, the man was quite familiar to the officers because they went to the same church. From the condition of the backpack he was carrying, the police also discovered something that exposed his lie. >> Bro, what? Come on. You got the You got the tag on. I'm saying, bro, I been I been I been got that bag, though. >> Come on, man. >> I been got the bag. >> They take it off at the register, >> bro. I been got the bag. I got to go back there and find out. I got to go back there and see what they said you took cuz it should be all good. >> They ain't see me take nothing. >> Okay. >> I haven't talked to him. You took off. >> At this point, another officer arrived at the store to make contact with the remaining suspect. Based on the statements the police gathered, including the suspect's denial, it seemed that this was a planned theft. >> Okay. Were they definitely together or she saw them last time? >> Okay. Has she been stealing today? Do you know the female? >> Hello. We've got a friend of yours in [music] custody around the corner. Um, do you have your license with you or an ID? >> Yeah. Why? >> Um, well, the store is saying that he was shoplifting. >> I'm saying why you got to have my ID? >> Yeah. So, they're saying that uh you've been with him when he done it before. >> I have not been with him. Like, >> I need your ID. >> Okay. What? I pay for everything I have. I got money. See, mom steal. >> Thanks. So, obviously they have pretty good cameras. I haven't asked them about it yet, but do you do you have anything that you're not supposed to have that we need to get back to them? No, >> sir. I bought this stuff from Five Below right here. >> Okay. >> And I was going to go up there and buy my stuff from here. I haven't read anything wrong. This stuff came from Five Below. >> Okay. >> All this came from Five Below. You can check my purse. >> Okay. You said I'm I can check it. >> I mean I mean it's my right. Right. But yeah. I mean, I obviously haven't done anything wrong. This >> Did you buy those from? >> But they came from Five and Below. >> Okay. >> You can't go ask them to watch the camera. I have done nothing wrong. >> All right. >> Even when she admitted her actions, her attitude was notable. She showed no sign of embarrassment and she even made statements accusing the police. >> Nothing because of somebody else. >> I'm just telling you what we have is that he was shoplifting. >> Okay. But yeah, I I'm going to get my purse back cuz y'all being y'all being harassing for no reason. All right. >> Like I haven't done that. >> You forgot what was in this, didn't you? Forget what was in this. Is that what it was? >> No, I didn't forget what was in it. >> Okay. >> I knew what was in it, but y'all harassed me for no reason. >> Okay. >> It ain't nothing but a bowl. Got no drugs in there. >> So, I mean, we wouldn't be out with you for no reason. So, there's a reason. So, it's not harassing you for no reason. We're getting out with you for a specific reason. Well, we have to figure that out. >> Um, so you're not under arrest right now, but you're just going to be detained. Okay. So, just put your hand behind your back. >> Why? For what? Look, don't do that. I'm pregnant, so be easy. >> Okay. We'll be easy with you. >> I'm not going to lie to y'all. >> Okay. I appreciate that. >> Well, I'm being detained, though. >> Um, so we can search your purse the rest of the way and um ask them about [music] the rest of this stuff. >> That stuff came from Five and Below, but we can do that. >> And you were going to buy this stuff, you said? >> Yes, sir, I was. >> Okay. Did he take any tags off stuff? >> No, I did not. >> No. Did he take tags off anything? >> I don't know. We didn't even come in the store, honestly. I didn't know he was in here. Right after the woman was taken away, the employee also revealed additional details and evidence showing that this was not the first time these individuals had done this. >> Yeah. August 4th. I took a picture of him in my phone. He did it on August 4th, too. Filled that red book bag up. >> Okay. Well, let's go ahead and get the details of all this. Is that wallet belonging to you guys? >> No, it's not. >> But the bag, the shoes, everything else? >> Yeah. Everything else? Yeah. Still got the tag. >> Okay. So, >> okay, >> let's go get a print out for all that so >> log that in the report. >> They're probably like, uh, you know, >> I'm sorry. >> What? >> What's up? >> No, you're fine. I'm saying they're probably like, uh, there's two police sitting at the counter. I don't know if we want to be here right now. >> Yeah, none of that. >> Okay, let me just finish going through her purse to make sure. But like you said, I'm sure if she did have something, she would have just put it back. >> The woman was given another chance by the police to be honest about what had happened. But the outcome was still not as expected. >> Burlington Coke back here with you and Jason. >> I I swear to God, I didn't y'all see the camera. I didn't even know he was in there because I swear on my key, we was not together. >> Okay. So, if I go and review the cameras, it's going to show I got you. If I go and review the cameras, is it going to show you putting anything in your bags and taking them out? >> No, sir. It's not. >> Okay. >> It's on my kids. >> Okay. >> I got money in my wallet. I was going to buy That's why I had the red shirt and the bougie pant with the shoes. I was going to buy that outfit. >> So, you and Jason weren't together. You don't know anything about it. Is that what you're saying? >> On my We'll go back and review the camera footage and see. Secondly, um you didn't take anything? >> No, sir. I did not. >> Okay. So, you didn't take anything and put it back? >> No. >> Okay. The stuff that from Five and Below. Did you buy that? >> Yes, I did. I had my receipt in my pocket. >> What is this? >> This supposed to be a Zen. Somebody had gave it to me and I I wasn't trust me. So, I didn't never take it. For me, I forgot this. >> And what's the other stuff? The multiolor stuff. >> Supposed to be a natural. I don't know. Is that yours? >> I never did take it. Somebody gave it to me. >> And I I'm pregnant, so I didn't take it. >> How many months pregnant are you? >> A little over nine weeks. Maybe almost two two months about two months and change. You and Jason still together? >> No. So, >> okay. >> Don't try to make sure I know I'm pregnant. I just thought I was pregnant. >> By him or somebody else? >> Okay. >> This is my fifth child. >> I got you. I could charge you with both of those things, but since you're pregnant and you're cooperating, I'd like to work something out. Is there some a way you think you are you on paper? >> You think you could help me out with a little bit of information? Maybe. >> I might what? >> I might have a couple questions. >> Okay. You got a phone number? >> Yes, sir. Okay. So, if I let you go, can you call me tomorrow and we can talk more? Yes, sir. >> Because I mean, if if we talk about you don't want to cooperate, which is your right, you don't have to. >> The man was charged with shoplifting, resisting a merchant or loss prevention officer, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement. This woman showed no shame for her actions and even tried to blame the police. Despite being given multiple chances to be honest, she continued to lie, proving that her behavior was deliberate and unrepentant. Arrest them, sir. I tried to spare them. Arrest them. Arrest all of them. Yeah. >> On August 14th, 2025, police received a report about a woman acting suspiciously inside a store. Surveillance cameras from multiple angles captured her slightly adding extra products during selfch [music] checkckout. Even when a loss prevention officer disguised as a store assistant approached to help, she deliberately scanned a few more items, pretending everything was normal before preparing to leave. But before she could make her exit, the store manager pushed her cart away. And that's when her attitude shifted, realizing she'd been caught, she quickly tried to walk out without the merchandise. Unaware that waiting just outside was the police. >> Hold on, man. >> Ma'am, you're not free to go. Listen, >> I don't have any. >> Listen, relax. Damn. Don't Don't do it. >> No. No. I don't have anything. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. I ain't got nothing. Don't touch me. >> I don't have nothing. I don't have anything. I don't have nothing. >> I don't have to me. Get off me. >> I don't have nothing to stop. I don't have I don't have nothing. My mother. >> I don't have anything. >> All my stuff is right there. >> I got it. >> I don't have anything. I don't have anything. I don't have anything. >> Hold on. >> Don't touch me. >> 23. She will be in a moment. 1033. >> Okay, I'm good. So I don't have nothing. >> You look she's >> I don't have anything. >> She believed that abandoning the goods cleared her of any wrongdoing. So everything she did was justified and she still demanded to be treated like a paying customer. >> I just went and paid for all my stuff. I would touch you. >> Don't touch me. It's way too much. Don't touch me. >> Okay, ma'am. This is all my stuff right here. I went I was passing my stuff and hit you. He touched me >> at a lower level. The entire parking lot doesn't have to see and look at you. What's going on? I will listen to what you're saying, but lower your voice. >> Okay. I went to get some tank so that I could get on the bus. That's all of my stuff that I was purching. >> You have anything on you in your pocket? >> That's my stuff. I don't have anything. That's mine. >> Stop yelling. >> That's all of my stuff. >> Yelling. You're being >> No, I have I was going to return everything. >> I went to return that stuff. That's my stuff. >> Please shut up. >> Okay. >> You're yelling for nothing. No one cares. >> That's all my stuff that I rent to return. >> That's all of my stuff. He didn't have no right to He didn't have no right to touch me. >> Inside the loss prevention office, staff laid out everything that happened at the checkout, proving it was nothing like what the suspect tried to claim. >> Yeah, she came with two tin >> to return it. >> Was it already in her bag or she come with a bag? >> She came with a bag. >> Okay. >> And then um I asked her the receipt and she said she didn't have a receipt. And then I said, "I need your ID to return it." And she said, here. She showed me on her wallet. I said, "Take it out." >> And she refused to take the um the ID out >> and then she just walk away. >> And right after I was, you know, following her, she went to electronics. >> Mhm. >> And I saw she just grabbed, you know, them >> the chargers. I wasn't sure what was it. So, she tried to to put like two at the same time. When she saw me, one of them is drunk >> and she just pick it up. And then I I call the AP and I say I'm going on lunch. Keep an eye on her. When I get back, she was stealing the stuff and she, you know, bagged pretty much everything. >> She put the stuff on the back. She >> paid for only two item. >> She only paid for two items. >> She paid for two item. >> And then um I told them, you know, she needs to show the receipt before she leave. And she said, "Oh, I pay on my credit card. I don't have the receipt." And she said, "I'm not showing the receipt." Okay. You're going to have him upload the video. >> Yeah. >> Did she She paid for something. >> She paid for two items. >> Yeah. She paid for >> two items. Yeah. >> And then everything else she >> She didn't pay for She didn't pay for for this rest of the stuff. >> The woman had no idea her every move had been recorded. Though she still believed she could deny it all and even started making absurd demands to the officers in the car. >> What did he charge me with? >> I don't know, man. >> Drop this soon. No. Drop it. >> What? >> Uhuh. Make him drop the charges. >> No. No. No. No. >> I can't do that, man. >> Can you see if I got a bun? >> I don't do that. You have to. That's for the court. >> Okay. Can you see if I got a bond? >> I can't do that. That's for the court. You go to your first appearance, they'll tell you if you have a bond. >> Okay. Why did he let me go? I didn't do anything. >> I don't know. What did he say? You ask him. No, I'm not doing it. I I'm not doing it. I ain't doing it. I got plenty of money. Take care. Yeah, I hurt now. No, no, no. Arrest them, sir. I tried to spare them. Arrest them. Arrest all of them. Yeah. Release me out here. Don't print me. Don't do nothing. Yeah. No. Release me out. >> When the car arrived at the medical station, she still refused to admit any wrongdoing, behaving as if she were a queen above the law. Give me my shoes and can you give me my bag? >> Slide your foot in there. I'm going to grab your shoes for you. >> Can you give me my bag? >> Alpha. >> You show me 512 341 Northeast 23rd, please. >> Come on. >> Okay. Can you give me my bag? >> Your bag is going to go to Northeast 23rd. >> What? >> Okay. Here. Actually, stand right there so I can take some pictures. I guess >> Let me see your face. Show me. Look, look up at it. Look up. See your legs? Let me see your arms. This way. All right. Let me let me see this side. All right. That's all right. Come on. Okay. Can you give me my bag? >> You'll get your You'll get your bag in a little bit. >> We're doing the whole thing here. >> Can you take off these >> here? Just sit. Go back up. Put your legs up and then >> No. No. You got to take off the hand. >> No, I don't. Put Fine. I'm going to put one on. Relax. Take a deep breath. >> So, can you put two of them on? >> No, you don't. >> No. Take off the handcuffs. There's other people. >> The woman was charged with retail theft with two prior theft convictions and resisting arrest. Lesson: Even when someone thinks they can escape by leaving stolen items behind or making excuses, every action is being recorded. Denial and arrogance won't protect you. Law enforcement and evidence always catch up. In the next case, this man shows that cooperating keeps things simple and light. >> Just do a little grab and run. Just grab some handfuls and run out. other guy to put on stuff. >> On August 29th, 2024, a man suspected of shoplifting from a store fled in a silver BMW. Unaware that the stolen items were equipped with tracking devices. Using the tracker, police located the car. And here's what happened next. >> You looking at this silver BMW? How's it going, guys? How's it going? You guys know whose car this is? No, not associated. >> No, come with the chain. Come here. >> Me? >> Yeah. You got ID on you, >> huh? >> You got ID? >> ID? >> ID? >> No. >> What's your name? >> Huh? >> What's your name? Person associated with this car looks like you. That's why I'm wondering. What's your name? >> What's going on? >> We're right now investigating criminal activity. Sir, I want to get your name to verify you're not involved so I can leave you alone. What's your last name? >> Jackson. >> Jackson what? >> You're not associated with this car at all? >> I This is my brother's car. My friend's car that I've been using. >> Okay. So, you've been driving this car? >> Not really, but I just picked it up today. >> Okay. From where? >> Um my bro house. your brother's house. All right. Where's that at? Come on over here. I want to separate yourself from from these people. Come on over here. >> The man initially claimed he hadn't used the car at all during the time of the theft, but under the officer's persistent questioning, his statement quickly shifted. >> All right. So, what we're trying to figure out essentially is what happened. >> Yeah. >> Okay. That's that's why we got >> I that wasn't me. I let someone use my car. >> Okay. >> And that's about it. But I had nothing to do with it. >> Okay. All right, man. tell you who I let use my car, but I don't have nothing to do with that. >> Okay. Who' you let use your car? >> Um, it was one of this dude. >> Okay. So, I just want to let you know like before we get into I got this car, you got this car, all this stuff, right? And that's figuring everything out like you you you're using this car. You borrowed it. You're you where'd you get it from? Well, I this is I used to own this car and then I got it back when I had my Maserati. Okay. >> Then I got it back from the dude. >> Gotcha. >> And then I just use it every once in a while and then I let my bro use it. >> Okay. >> For the past two days. >> Gotcha. Okay. So, you have been driving around this car. So, I'm going to ask you again. Are we going to see you on these cameras? >> No. >> Okay. Are you going to be in the car? >> No. No. Don't Don't lie to me. We're here for shoplifting stuff. Okay. If you make it more than that, then it's more than that. Okay. Were you in Were you in the car when they shoplifted? >> Okay. Gotcha. >> So, he had been at the scene all along. The officers kept pressing him because they already knew the truth. They just wanted to see whether he'd come clean. And soon enough, he broke, laying out the entire sequence of his actions. >> So, I got to stop hanging around. >> I ain't going to lie. You are >> wrong people, man. So, here's what we're going to do, okay? because you're detained and I'm going to keep talking to you. How many pairs of pants do you think are back there? >> I'm not too sure. Probably 10, 11, 12. I don't know. >> Do you have the keys to this car? >> Okay. You going to give these jeans back to us? >> Yes. >> Perfect. While you're doing that, let's talk about who it was that we're going to see on camera taking this fans. Okay. Who was it? Who was out here stealing? was we went in the we went in the store and I was with one of my older friends I I met up with that >> okay >> I went to go someone told us to go to the store to get to me stuff just do a little grab and run just grab some handfuls and run out you guys put on stuff >> put on some things while he's in the store Okay, I got you. So, did you have any active participation? Were you holding jeans when you left the store? And like I said, if if if you lie to me, I'm just all I got to do is look at the camera when I get back and see exactly what it was. Okay. So, did you steal these jeans, too? After his lie collapsed, the man became fully cooperative, giving statements that helped wrap the case up smoothly. He revealed details about who was involved and exactly how much had been stolen. >> What happened in the store so I can statement? He walked around and then took the jeans. He put on stuff. >> Okay. >> Then we put on a couple of jackets and then he told me to grab the jeans. I sit down. >> Okay. I got you. How many pairs did you say you grabbed? >> He just told me to take the stack slides. It's probably 10 11 12 15. >> Okay. Did you know that they had trackers on them? No. But they had the little sensors on them and stuff. >> I got you. I know that. >> All right. What's your What's your buddy's name? >> I only know him by his like his >> what he's known out. What's he known out as? >> Uh, poetic. >> Poetic. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's he look like? I think I've heard that name before. >> Medium kind of dude. Like 20 late 20s. >> Okay. >> Early 30s. >> Medium. What is he? Is he dark skin, light skin? >> Like a caramel color? All right, I got you. All right, man. Um, so like I said, we got some steps that we got to do. One, we got to recover the pants. Okay. Uh, you got the keys on you for this car? >> I did it. >> Where are the keys at? >> I was when I was start helping them. I put it probably on the car somewhere. >> Okay. You think we were going to talk to you, so you just ditch the keys real quick? >> No, I just I was helping them put stuff out. I got other stuff in there, too. Can I go get it? I'm not going to do nothing. >> Just stay here. It's all right. Where in Where in this car do the keys? >> It's right on the seat over. >> In reality, every tracking device attached to each stolen pair of jeans counted as stolen property, which pushed his total loss to $1,350, including $500 just for the tracker alone. By the time he realized the weight of what he'd done, his regret came far too late. Cool. I'm not It's cool to be an iron worker and I don't want to mess that up. >> I mean, you you straight up stole, you know, maybe a few thousand on camera, too. So, >> I know it's not right around the wrong people just to get money. >> If we get you a consent search form, will you fill that out and sign it saying that, "Hey, we can we can search your car and get the evidence back, get the pants back." Yeah. Do you have one of those forms? Can I be ready to grab them? And then you guys, >> cuz the worst I mean, best case scenario is, hey, you just pull those jeans out, you say, "Here you go, man. My bad. I'm sorry." Worst case scenario is you go, "Haha." And you pull out some sort of gat and then it's a then it's a firefight, right? And I I I know that that's not how you are and that's not the vibe you're giving me, but I have to plan for worst case scenario, right? So, we're just going to sit until we get the official form out. You sign it saying, "Hey, I'm giving consent to to search this car, to go through it and recover this merchandise and whatnot." And then we figure stuff out from there. Based on the tracker's location, it looks like you guys was running around just causing problems. >> Right after that, the officers recovered every stolen item and laid out exactly what he would have to face next. >> Okay, here's something very quiet. Like a That's real real quiet. This one. >> You know what this is? >> It'll trip like that, right? >> Don't Don't react. >> Oh, nice. >> Sweet. >> Never seen that before either. That's pretty sweet. >> All right, man. So, here's the next step. Next step is we'll get you a recorded statement from you. I'll write you a citation for it for theft. you show up in court later for that, talk to the judge, take care of it, however you need to take care of it. Okay? As for right now, like I said, everything else has been it's been chill. Even though it's a lot and it's been taken a while, you've been super chill with us. I'm not trying to jam you up. Okay? >> He was charged with shoplifting, receiving only a citation thanks to his cooperation, and his case remained under review. His cooperation didn't erase the crime, but it did spare him from a far worse outcome. A sharp reminder that owning up early can be the only way to soften the fall. The next pair of thieves even ran away just to claim they hadn't done anything. >> Hey, stop. >> I didn't do anything. >> Get out of the car. >> I didn't do anything. >> Get out of the car. >> What did I do, sir? On May 14th, 2025, police received a report of a theft at Best Buy, where two suspects had caused a loss of $7,000. When officers arrived, the pair split up. One sped off in a vehicle while the other fled on foot. Police immediately launched a chase and cut off both suspects before they could escape. >> Hey, sir. Sir, come here. Don't do it. 180 2213 is running southbound. Hey, stop. >> Stop. Don't move. Turn around. Turn around. I got good stomach. >> Okay, good. You got him. >> Yeah. Okay. Come on. Here we go. 15. Stop the car. Stop the car. >> Get out. >> I didn't do anything. >> Get out of the car. >> I didn't do anything. >> Get out of the car. >> What did I do, sir? >> Now, put in park and get out. Hands above your head. >> What did I do? >> You're being attained. Come here. I didn't do anything, sir. I didn't do anything. >> Hey, what did I do? I didn't do anything. Her glasses. Can I give her glasses? >> Nope. >> Her glasses, bro. >> Get in the car. >> I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything, sir. >> Although she said she did nothing, her attempt to run and the mans proved otherwise. And even the employee seemed to recognize them. >> Hey, just got they got warrants everywhere, man. We got all kind of information. >> Thank you, sir. We'll take that from you in a second. >> Thank you. >> You good, bud? >> What's going on, bro? >> I'm not your bro. Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot I was talking to you. Sorry. >> We'll talk to you in a second. >> What's going on? >> Why'd you run? >> What you mean? >> Why'd you run? >> Why' you Why'd you chase me? >> I didn't chase you. You ran. >> Okay. >> Okay. Right. You going to play that game? Yeah. >> Let me get you. >> How much are they? >> Uh 180th. Well, all in total across what he stole? Probably like 15 grand. >> Yeah, they took like 15 uh 12 grand. We just so you know, we got warrants from every county, bro. I mean, we got >> Port St. Lucy. >> You got >> Hell yeah. >> Well, not so No, not warrants, but like bolos. We have an AP alert system, but Yeah. >> Yeah. They've been looking for them for a lot a lot of places. >> Seven grand, man. Already. >> Yeah, we have the property here. Let's hold on to this though so we can document and stuff like that. >> And then we have the other video of and all the other stuff. He can show you that, too. He has put it like on a >> Yeah, we can put it on. >> Yeah, I thought Wesley >> He's doing it right now. >> Um, >> so as I was talking to you, he was walking out. >> Yeah. >> He went behind that blue truck and I was calling him out like, "Hey, come here." And then he takes out his waistband and dumps it on the floor and then he takes off. I'm like, "Oh, god damn it." [laughter] Although denying anything seemed impossible with the confirmed loss already on record, officers still separated the pair to see whether any honest confession would surface. Starting with the woman first. >> So So what what did what happened? >> I didn't do anything >> to start from the beginning of >> I just went into the store and that's it. I didn't do anything. I didn't take anything. I don't understand why I'm being detained right now. >> Okay. >> I didn't do anything. >> I just don't know why you're putting me in handcuffs for not doing anything. >> What's that? >> I just don't know why I'm in handcuffs. I didn't do anything. >> Okay. We're going to get to that. Okay. So, what happened inside Best Buy? Why would >> I don't know. >> Okay. Who is he to you? >> My boyfriend of a long time. >> Your boyfriend? >> Not really a good choice, but >> All right. And what happened with your boyfriend? >> I don't know. I'm not >> So, where were you when >> I was in this car? >> Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. Well, we're going to get to that. Okay. Cuz obviously there's something else going on. Okay. What did you didn't see your boyfriend do anything? >> I wasn't in there with you. >> You were inside the car the entire time? >> Yeah. And the guy like held a gun to me. Like I don't even I don't even know like what is that? >> Although she denied taking part in this wrongdoing, what the employee had gathered told a different story. This wasn't her first time. On April 30th, she had done the same thing, causing a loss of $1,000. >> My manager that's exporting the video cuz we can't figure it out on our system right now cuz it's a newer system. We're all not familiar with it. He's going to pull the video tomorrow. Is that okay? This should be fine. Okay. And you witnessed this happen. >> Um so I saw him grab something from the shelf. >> Okay. >> Um he went over to appliances. I have clear video of him trying to take the spider wrap the security device off of it. He took it off, put it on a bay stack near vacuum cleaners and went to go tuck it. And then he walked out and that's when uh Sergeant >> Yeah, Sergeant Dwayne I think is his name high school. Um but that's when he ran and he tackled him. me dropped it right there near under the tire of a handicap car that was parked up there. Um yeah, >> what was the female's part in all this? What was she doing inside the store? >> Long story short, they stole about $1,700 from us about 2 weeks ago and we have a system called Aura or AP Alert. They've hit multiple Best Bu 17 grand of just random product. Everything from Dyson Air Wraps to audio equipment. >> Do you have them on video with those? >> Not on those ones. So, my GM is getting in contact with our higher up AP manager to like I guess communicate with you guys. But as far as like what happened at this store, my manager tomorrow is going to pull video film of it for you guys tomorrow. Okay. >> To verify the truth, officers checked the items in the back of the woman's [music] vehicle and uncovered several suspicious goods. She was questioned immediately, cornered with evidence that left her with no room to lie any further. >> Ju just just be honest with me because it might just be if we just get him and I you might be helpful. So, what has been going on? Where have you guys been going to? Because we talked to them. They have a communication with a lot of different different Best Buy >> and they have been tracking you guys for months. >> I don't Okay. >> I don't know what it is. >> So, what is all the stuff in the back of the the the rental car over here? >> The back of it? >> Yeah. That that curig thing. Is that yours? >> It's mine. >> Okay. Did you pay for it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have a receipt for it? >> No. >> Okay. So, am I not going to ask another agency that has that the same one stolen and they're going to tell me that it's not stolen? You sure about that? Because they have records of all those all the serial numbers on those things are all tracked. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, do you what did you which car did you pay for it with? >> Paid it with cash. >> Pay with cash. Okay. >> But it was a while ago. >> Okay. How long ago? >> Like probably 3 weeks ago. And it's not from Best Buy. Where's it from? >> Uh, like a Marshall. Marshall. >> You guys carry that kind of bread? No. That's not >> He, unlike the woman, showed zero cooperation. He invoked his right to remain silent and shut down every single question the officers asked. >> What happened on inside there? What? >> I don't want to talk. >> You don't want to talk? >> No. >> Okay. All right. >> Yeah. Yeah. You can take him out. Have a >> All right. Step out. >> Oh, yeah. You going to hear me? >> Not yet. >> Not yet. You wear that right now. >> Okay. How did you get here today? >> In the car. >> In the car. Where were you sitting at? Inside the car. >> Passenger seat. >> Passenger seat. Where at? >> Where at? >> Front. Rear. Where? Where? >> Passenger seat. I was talking to you. >> Do you use drugs? >> Yes. >> Okay. What kind of drugs do you use? >> Heroin. >> And what about him? >> Xanax. >> Heroin and Xanax. Have you used any today? >> Yes. >> Okay. Now, listen. And we're going to have a female search you. Is there anything on your person right now? >> No, nothing. >> Okay. Is there any in the vehicle? >> No. >> There's a there's a guy asked me. >> Gentleman asked me. >> What's that? Bill. >> No. No. No. The gentleman asked me if there was anything. >> Okay. So, in the passenger door, there's a baggie with a white powdery substance. What is that? >> In the passenger door in the front of the vehicle. >> Powdery substance. >> Yeah. It's like a white powdery substance. It's supposed to be like Molly, but it's nothing. It's like some China. >> Is that yours? His? >> It's not mine. >> Okay. But you know exactly what it is. Were you Were you going to both use it? >> No, I don't use that. So, I usually >> But how do you know what it is then? Okay. We weren't going to use it cuz you literally just told me exactly what it was. >> In fact, that pile of pills belonged to the male suspect. Though she never dared confirm it was his, she only rushed to deny it wasn't hers. And then came the real twist. Officers uncovered an entire handwritten journal documenting her own theft spree. >> So if I were to send your picture out to every department in the entire state for Hobby Lobby, Burlington, and Targets, you're not going to be a suspect in any any theft from those stores. So says you sent out. What? How do you How do you obtain this stuff to sell? >> Is this your notebook? >> No. >> This isn't your notebook in your car? The the Hello Kitty like the bag you're on camera carrying. Hello Kitty. These Hello Kitty notebooks aren't yours. >> Oh, those are really old. I mean some of the dates are 325 2024 which is not that old. Is this not your handwriting? >> That's my handwriting. >> That is >> that's my handwriting. Those are my books. Stuff I >> like you're looking at stuff that really has nothing. >> So well let me let me explain to you. >> Like there's like nothing in there. Like I don't understand like you're going through my like personal like >> Well, we we can search your vehicle. >> No, I don't care. You can look at anything. It's just things I want at Hobby Lobby. I mean, you can go to every Hobby Lobby and see if I still want anything. No. No. >> Well, the reason Let me explain to you why I'm >> No, you're just frustrating me cuz like that's like that's like silly stuff. >> Well, stealing from numerous Best Buy is also silly stuff. But here we are, right? >> I guess. >> I mean, I didn't put you in this position, did I? >> No. So, don't get mad at me for a decision that you made. Correct. In the end, the male suspect was charged with resisting arrest, felony grand theft, possession of controlled substances, first-degree petit theft. The female suspect was charged with grand theft. Denying wrongdoing won't erase evidence. Past actions, physical proof, and documentation will catch up. Next, watch how a 7-Eleven turns into a crazy circus stage in just one night. >> Roll over. Sir. >> On August 25th, 2023, police quickly responded to a report from a 7-Eleven in Moran County, where a former employee nicknamed Marijuana Aisha returned, stole items, and acted like he owned the register, turning the scene into pure chaos. >> She has to go to a clean. I wish you had. >> Okay. Who is behind the counter stealing stuff? >> She has. >> Okay. Who is >> Okay. Take everything out your pockets. Put on the counter. >> Aisha, please take it out. >> Officer. Aisha, take it out. Aisha, >> put everything on your in your pockets on the counter. >> Hey, everything out your pockets on the counter, please. >> Can I have to hold on? >> Okay. Let me see those. >> All right. So, can I asked him to give them to me? And heed it. So why am I >> everything out of your pockets on the counter? >> Give me an explanation. >> Aisha. >> When officers arrived, they found Aisha arguing stubbornly, refusing to put the items down as ordered. Her defiance making the atmosphere grow increasingly tense. >> Our situation, >> what would you like to be called? >> I would like to be called me. >> Me? Okay, let's go out to my car, please. I really don't want to take you to the ground in the store. [clears throat] >> Okay, let's go. >> You don't need to touch me either. Come on. Let's go. >> Drop the pot on the ground. >> Put the pot on the ground. >> Here. >> Put the pot on the ground. Give me >> I will punch you in the face. >> If you punch me in the face, you will get tased. Put the pot on the ground. Put the pot on the ground. I am not playing with you. >> I noticed. >> I am not playing games with you. >> And I noticed >> Give me the pot. You're about to get tagged if you will stop. >> I suggest you just call up the cops. >> Would you stop? >> I suggest you just call up the cops. >> Put your hands behind your back now. >> Why are you doing this? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Why? >> Are you sure you're about to get tased? >> You told me I wasn't being arrested in there. >> You're about to get tased. >> You told me I was Stop right now. >> Give me the pot. >> You told me I wasn't being arrested in there. >> Keep it clear. >> Why are you threatening to tase me? >> Back up right now. >> I need an answer. >> Everything out of your pockets. >> You told me I wasn't being tased. Clearly, before being escorted out, she was caught with a bag full of stolen items, clutching a potted plant-like treasure and even threatened to attack an officer. Arrogance fit for a self-proclaimed queen of 711. >> Hey, you told me I wasn't being arrested. Why are you threatening to tase me? >> Get down the ground right now. >> 61. I got one a taser. She's not cooperating. Don't taser her. She's sick. >> Put Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back right now. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. You're going to get tased. >> Turn around. You're going to get tased. >> Either you can work on me or you're going to get tased. >> Yeah. >> Are you going to work on me or not? >> I'm working with you. >> Aisha. The suspect showed no fear, defying every warning. With eyes locked and body tensed as if ready to strike, tension exploded. Officers had no choice but to move in. >> I'm not playing games with me because you're not listening to what I'm telling you to do. >> Why are you threatening? >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. Aisha, listen. Aisha. Aisha. 62. >> Cut it out now. >> Roll over. I said fight. You must have tas her. >> She's fighting me. >> Aisha, cut it out now. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> I will turn around. >> I'll turn around now. 620. Aisha, back up now. >> Back up. >> Victoria 1, you got some water in her eyes at least before you die. Unbelievable. She seemed bulletproof, completely immune to both taser and pepper spray. The one-on-one struggle had officers powerless, forced to call backup. Luckily, she finally gave in or they'd still be wrestling her. Police in trouble with police brutality and all type of stuff. >> I gave her so many chances. >> You at least gave her my shoulders. >> Get in the car now. >> Your shoulders what? >> My shoulders are hurting. >> Get in the car. >> The handcuffs in front of me. Get in the car now. >> I don't care. She had every opportunity to do what I told her to do. Get in the car. In the car now. >> Put the handcuffs in. >> No, I cannot. Are >> hurting me. >> Get in the car. >> The drama didn't end there. Aisha was finally arrested after repeated defiance, but her aunt kept blaming officers for brutality and spouting religious ramblings, leaving officers shaking their heads. >> Get in the car now. >> In Jesus name. In Jesus name. In Jesus name. Jesus save. >> Can you stop? Please. Please. >> She need help. >> Well, then she should have listened to me. >> I gave her every option I could to >> Yeah. >> What is going on, >> ma'am? Come here. You have pepper spray all over you. >> You have pepper spray all over you. >> You do what? >> You have pepper spray all over you. The >> Holy Spirit will cover me. You can't take >> The Holy Spirit will cover me. >> Jesus is not going to take the pepper spray off. >> He will take it away. He's my savior. >> I get that. The truth only emerged later when they returned to the store for staff statements. >> I called her, told her what was happening. She called her. So she comes like 10 minutes later. She try to get get her under control. >> At what point does she come behind the counter? So she runs back here and grabs cigarettes. How many does she grab? She grab these, two of these, and one of these. And then there's a pack right here. Four total. >> Yeah, four total. She goes back from a pack of cigarettes and walks back there and lights it on the grill. She put a cigarette on the grill. >> Yeah, it's a lit flow, bro. And I was like, "Yo, you got to stop it." >> Everyone confirmed she used to work there. Aisha walked in like she still owned the place, singing and spreading items everywhere, then grabbed four packs of cigarettes and lit one on the grill. A smoke and fire spectacle no one expected. >> Call your mom and call anybody. >> And I said to stop now trying to >> get your hands off of her. >> He's over here trying to fight and argue with me and my daughter. Can you go a little escalate? Please stop escalating it. Don't escalate. Don't. Please, in Jesus name. >> Y that before >> because now people are here and you need to respect the problem. Outside the store, the suspect's relatives argued and shouted, turning the scene into a midnight Florida flea market, where chaos seemed to be the local specialty. >> But don't get the right to have a counter. >> Okay. Why you so mad? >> Because he mad cuz we all together we all from Don't call me No, that's >> I already called Conniey's name in it. I already called her earlier and she said she was going to sleep. So I was like, "Nobody mess with her." And then went ahead and called her and then she was white. Stephanie mad cuz Stephanie your manager. She's here. That's just me. Just telling me why. >> Have you What have you been diagnosed with? Do you know? I was diagnosed with um >> that's that's the only thing. That's what I was diagnosed with. It's also telling me to go see a psychologist. >> Okay. >> Um I haven't been able to find one because I guess my insurance doesn't cover the one that I went to go see. I have to pay for that out of pocket. But >> So you haven't done that yet? >> I haven't gotten a job. Um, >> in the end, Aisha was charged with theft, petty theft from the counter, and resisting law enforcement. She faced the consequences of her reckless actions under the law. No matter any illness or condition, breaking it carries consequences, and excuses will not shield anyone from being held fully responsible. Next up, meet these mean girls for whom stealing had basically become a habit. want to see the video. No, we don't go to Wellington Mall. >> We got pictures of you guys there. >> Okay. No. Yeah. I want to see I don't go to the mall. >> On May 30th, 2024, the police received a report from a store about a theft that had occurred. The suspects were said to be three women who took merchandise and walked out without paying. All three quickly escaped before officers arrived. See how the employee detailed the incident. >> Um, I couldn't recall much. Um, I know two walked out together and they ran in that direction. >> Okay. Did they get in a car or would they possibly be on foot somewhere? >> Um, I think they got in a car. I just couldn't see what the car looked like. Is it back over there? >> Okay. And then that's all you saw? What did What did they in their hands? >> There was a third girl that came out after the first two. They each had a basket full of stuff. >> Okay. And what did the third girl do? Um she was kind of just walking. The other two ran and then she picked it up once she hit the parking lot. >> It was three females. >> Three females this time. >> Okay. >> Um Africanamean one's on the heavier set side had like red hair like red short. >> That's one of them. >> Mhm. >> So what I sorry the one right there with a basket and then the other two about to walk out right now. This one had a basket, too. And then there's one more big one. >> Yeah, that's amazing. They just >> So, the baskets are knocked right out, huh? >> They now Yeah. >> And three. She's just shocking hoping. So, we're probably looking at 2,000 or more. And this one, I'm pretty sure she changed her hair, but she was here 4 days ago cuz she >> All the suspects have been identified through the cameras, and it is clear this was a planned theft. According to the footage, all three entered the store together, then split up to carry out their actions. One suspect simply grabbed whatever items she could from the shelves, while another carefully examined products before taking them. Throughout the process, they were very cautious, constantly looking around to see if they were being watched. After completing their actions, they exited the store one by one, pretending to ignore the warnings from the anti- theft sensors. On June 18th, the police coincidentally encountered the suspects again when they stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation. Let's see what happened next. >> Hello, Agent Charles County Sheriff's Office. This is where I pulled you over because we tagged us and come back to anything. You have a license for trait. You already got the title. What's your What's your name? Briana, you step by the car for me. Put the car in park. Bring it back. Someone here. Another one. >> What's your name, young lady? >> Huh? >> Caitlyn. >> Caitlyn, do you have your license on you? And so do you. >> Oh, no. I don't have license. >> You don't have license. Do you have an ID card? Um, >> I just I just switched persons, so >> Okay. It's all right. >> Let me see. No, I don't even have it. >> Sierra, >> you know, they just took the car yesterday. We just got out the pound and everything like And they never said that. That's so weird. >> Oh, why' they take the car? What happened? >> Our headlight was out. >> They took your car cuz your headlight was out. >> Yes, that's it. They didn't. They pulled us from the front. Okay, yours. Thank you. >> The women appeared to cooperate at first, but everything increasingly revealed their criminal sophistication as the police realized that the names they provided were not entirely accurate. >> If y'all already gave me your name, why they ask me for y'all names? >> She gave me a wrong name. >> So what? That's the name she gave you. I don't know. I'm not going to give y'all. >> We're just We're just asking questions. >> But is that against Is that a law though? Yes. I have to tell y'all their name. >> You don't have to. >> Okay. Thank you. That's all. >> I got a different name. It's not the same. That's the other person. >> Yeah. Or the other thing. >> I need like they say that's a real tag. >> Which one you living on the 358? >> That is a real tag. How do you got to call that man? 358. my phone, but my phone did. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Call AJ. Call AJ. >> As soon as the suspects were settled, the police raised their questions about the theft that had occurred. But given their professionalism, admitting to it was certainly not easy for [music] them. >> Detective, the reason why you guys are in handcuffs, you guys know the reason why you're in handcuffs? >> Not at Single Guest? >> No. >> You guys do anything recently at the mall? take any take any merchandise. >> We don't go to the mall. >> Got you all on video and everything. That's why you guys are in handcuffs. So, detective wants to know if you want to >> speak your words or no. >> Where the detective at? >> What mall? >> Yeah. What mall? >> Wellington Green Mall. >> Hell no. No. I want to the video. No, we don't go to Wellington Mall. >> We got pictures of you guys there. >> Okay. No. Yeah. I want to see I don't go to the mall. >> No. Can I get some money? They say we going to jail with me. You can't when you bring it with you, they're going to take they're going to take a portion of that. >> So have her belly about the money so you don't get charged. >> Yeah. >> You know what I mean? >> Can I get her personal password? >> You're going to get You're going to get the whole car. >> Yeah, you're getting the whole car. >> My password is my phone. You see my phone in there? >> It's in there. No, in here. >> You didn't see it? Not only did they refuse to admit anything, but the women didn't care at all about the situation. Even at that moment, they casually fixed each other's hair and makeup despite being handcuffed. >> But at this point, it's not it's not in my hand. I can be I can just do what I'm told to do. These y'all know I'm trustworthy. >> Huh? >> So, that's great. And where y'all taking her? What about her? >> Gun Club. >> Okay. But she's good other than no warrants. We we Gucci. >> Which one had the warrant? >> Who had a warrant? I did. >> Who had the warrants? >> Who she had a warrant for? I just called my PO. >> Who are you with the the >> I never go there. What you talking about? >> You got to get one, two, three. >> Matter of fact, where is You didn't get my card. Oh, >> but the warrant are like probation. I got to check. >> Yeah. Was it me? >> No, >> I know. >> Yeah. >> And I got it out the next day. >> 500, right? >> 600. >> God damn. >> Yeah, cuz the people who I got the car from, they was being nasty talking about something old. To take my time out, that's why I signed my name on the title now >> because they was like, "Oh, to take my time out to come get it, you got to pay me." So, I paid him 200. and I paid no. >> Oh, I forgot it. My stuff in the background. Okay. >> In the end, one suspect received a suspended sentence and the other two were charged with retail theft. Crime might feel easy in the moment, but every careless choice eventually circles back and the consequences always hit harder than expected. >> Come here. >> Come here. >> Come here. Go ahead. >> On March 14th, 2024, officers rushed to Target after reports of a female shoplifter. Even worse, she had already been banned from multiple Target locations. At that moment, police and store staff watched her every move, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. >> She was in here yesterday doing the same. And I'm just sick of her ass, honestly. >> Cuz when they go in the fitting room, like we can't >> Yeah. You can't really see anything. Yeah. So hopefully her bag is >> and she like will double this was her yesterday. >> Did she steal anything yesterday? >> I don't know. >> It's about what she's looking around. >> Yeah, she was looking real hor. But she'll like double select. Like she'll get like three pairs of men's pants, two of the same shirt, two of the same purse, so that when she leaves the basket, it looks like she left everything behind. M >> but she never pays for anything. Yeah, this is definitely her. She had the same phone today, so she's probably stuffing her back. >> She's in there now. >> Still in the filming room. >> Mhm. >> Will he be able to slip out without her seeing him? >> Yeah. >> Go fast. Go super fast. >> The moment the woman crossed the final checkpoint, officers quickly chased after her and what followed was a [music] difficult arrest. Ma'am, come here. Come here. Come here. >> What? >> Yo, come here. >> Hey, >> stop. >> Oh, [ __ ] Put your hands behind your back, >> ma'am. Ma'am, relax. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Relax. >> Hands behind your back. >> For what? >> My cuff's full. You got yours? Yeah. Yeah. Ma'am, stop resisting. >> Okay. All right. >> You're about to get a resist. >> I got a concussion. >> Damn. >> Force. >> Damn. >> I tripped it back. >> She kept pulling for me. >> Hold on. I need to call my phone. I got to call my kids, >> man. Let go of the phone. >> You're under arrest for shoplifting and now obstruction as well. >> Damn, you made me hit my head. >> I didn't make you hit your head. >> EMS. >> Yeah, they're in route. >> Damn. >> EMS is in route. Once she was taken into the lost prevention room, she used her own arrest as an excuse to complain about her condition. And even worse, she faked her misery in the most obvious way possible. >> I need to tell her I'm not coming to the school and I need to call my dad. >> Okay, we'll get that taken care of. >> Boy, my head is spinning. I ain't going to lie. >> EMS is in route. >> My [ __ ] is thumping. I'm about to pass out. I'm not playing. >> EMS is in route. >> Y'all got to take me to jail? >> Yes. >> Absolutely. >> For what? >> Shoplifting and obstruction. Can I please make one phone call? >> Madam, give me a second. When when I put you in the car and I'm ready to transport, I'm going to let you make a phone call. >> Well, thumping. >> EMS is in route. >> 1575 street. >> Ma'am, sit up in the chair. Man, >> those are very controlled. >> Yes, sir. >> Ma'am, turn over on her side. Turn around on your side. >> Get on your side. Get on your side. Get on your side. >> If you're going to play this game, Go ahead. >> Ma'am. Ma'am. Ma'am. >> Where are you located? >> Ma'am. >> Her seizures were so perfectly [music] controlled that officers saw right through the act. And she had no intention of dropping the performance, only making their job harder. You want to put the cuffs to the front? I need you to stay still. Put your hands in the front. Roll over this way. Ma'am. Ma'am, roll over this way. >> We're going to move your handcuffs to the front. You want to sit up? >> Come sit up. Sit up. >> Hang on. Miss Jackson, just let it be. And she I had a hold of her and she was pulling away from me. So I tripped her foot. She fell back and she hit she did hit her head. Um we got her back up. She was walked in here with a spine and she said her head was pounding and then she sat down in the chair in there and then fell very controlled manner fell out of the chair and then started having what looked like a seizure >> on the floor. But if I'm not mistaken, if you have a head, doesn't wouldn't you immediately have that reaction? >> Okay. >> At this point, she was transported to a medical center for evaluation. Yet, she kept complaining about her head smoothly and even throwing in claims of racism. >> I already know that I'm hurt and I already know I'm hurting. Ain't nobody can't tell me otherwise if my head not spinning my shoulder not hurting and my back not hurting. They they ain't got to tell me that. I already know that y'all trying to be rude to me cuz I'm black. Cuz I'm black. That's why she won't tell me that I'm stealing. She see me take something out people. Y'all accuse me of stealing. That's what that is. It's cuz God see what y'all doing. >> Okay. >> Incident. >> All right. Are you Mr. Yes. >> Hey, I'm Jared. I'll be the ER nurse taking care of you. You >> mean taking me to the jail? >> What's that? >> Taking me to the jail. >> I'm I don't do any of that. I'm I'm at it. I'm >> I don't want to be seen. I said they need to take me to the jail. >> Oh, >> y'all got to tell me that my hair is spinning. >> I didn't say anything. >> You guys want to take her? >> No, she I would like her to be uh >> Yeah, if y'all Yeah, if you guys just give us paperwork, say she refuse treatment, we'll take her to jail. Perfect. Okay, >> thank you. You got it. >> All the white people work together. All the grins and smiles. Y'all got secret little codes that y'all. >> Man, what are you talking about? >> What are you talking about? >> Know me cuz I'm black. >> The woman thought that the more drama she created, the less the officers would care about her wrongdoing at the store. But she had underestimated their resolve. >> Has nothing to do with race. It has to do you had a bag full of merchandise. You had a You had a bag full of merchandise. That's what That's what it has to do. >> Steal it. How you know I was stealing? >> Cuz you didn't pay for it. That's called stealing. Did she see me take something? >> Doesn't matter. You walked You didn't walk in with it and you walked out with it. >> I didn't walk in with a bag. >> You didn't walk You didn't walk in with a bag full of merchandise, ma'am. >> She didn't know if I had merchandise. >> All the merchandise had tags on it. What are you talking about? >> But she didn't know. Did she see me? >> Just Just stop. This is nothing about race. There's no race. No, it's not. It's It's You stole >> and that's it. But >> you lie to us. >> It's a good straight kick to the jail. >> I don't know what you're trying to get out of this. You're under arrest. I cannot find him anywhere. She's doing a second return for Sean. Actually, she might be doing a third return. >> Wow. Sounds like she needs to go to jail. >> Yeah. She's I I'm just I don't even want to know how many times she's gotten away on us. >> Tell your uh yellow vest, don't stop her. Just wave her on. >> Keep going. Keep going. >> Yeah. I swear to God, if she goes into the subway, I'm going to have a freaking stroke. No, we got the crime anyway already. So, we'll just contact her in Safeway. >> All right. So, he's giving her more cash now. >> Okay. >> Can't exactly tell how much cash he's pulling out. He's not making it easy for me to count. >> That's okay. >> All right. But he did give her a receipt. So, we'll just use that receipt. She put that money in her right pocket. No, she pulled it back out. >> She's going to be gone by the time we get there anyway. >> All right. She's moving away from the customer service. She did not try to return that speaker. >> Okay. So, she's going to walk out with it then. >> Yeah. She looks like she's coming to the GM or the pharmacy site. I lied. She turned around. >> Okay. >> What the [ __ ] Yep. She's going towards a grocery now. >> Grocery. Okay. >> All right. She's in front of the nail salon. >> Okay. >> She's in front of Subway. Yeah. She's coming out. She's wearing a black shirt with like a Playboy bunny on her back. >> She out the store. >> Just as the woman thought she had gotten away and walked out of the store, police quickly moved in and arrested her on the spot. Let's see how she reacted. Put your hands behind your back. Drop the receipts. Put your phone down. Put your hands behind your back. Do you have any weapons on you? >> No. Okay. >> You're under arrest for theft. I've been watching you for about a good 20 minutes already. >> I just paid for that, though. I just went to the restaurant. I'm sorry. >> Tried doing it yesterday, too. >> Everything I didn't do anything yesterday. >> You got away. You're right. >> You're under arrest for theft. The speaker is not paid for. We know that already. this receipt shopping. You didn't select You selected these things from the store. >> I just pasted I just pasted those. I got the receipt right there. >> The suspect thought she could escape the charges with the receipts in her hand as proof of innocence. But with everything police had uncovered, those very papers became her one-way ticket to jail. >> Remember, everything's on camera. >> No, I get it. That's fine. But >> you lied to us. >> It's a good straight ticket to jail. >> Look at the receipts. What I was saying. >> Yeah, the receipts are all fraudulent. We know already. You're not the first person that thought this up. Okay. So, anyway, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand your rights? >> Okay. So, we're going to escort you back to the loss prevention office. >> At that moment, police realized they had only uncovered part of the truth because even the woman's personal information had been completely fabricated. >> Okay, first off, we have to identify you. What is this nonsense? Tessa M comes back to a talis and peak who's a male that's 611 175. >> Why would your brother come up as you? >> That's not my name though. I don't know why. >> I don't know either. >> There's driver status right there. >> Well, you better start thinking about different name cuz this one ain't working. You just said that that was your brother. >> No, I'm saying I don't. But if that's not me right there, >> you know, you got to keep your lies straight cuz I listen really well. >> Okay. What I'm trying to say is that his driver I don't give a rat's ass about the driver's status. I want to know who you are. I'm going to run it one more time and if not, you're you're just going to go to jail for providing false information to law enforcement. I don't give a [ __ ] about the driver's status. What is your real name? >> That's my name. >> That don't look like her. >> Oh, she's got multiple. >> What is your middle initial and what is your date of birth? >> 93. Nope. Comes back to Talison 611 175. Male. You're definitely not a male. Is your ID out of Washington? >> No, it's Portland, Oregon. >> It's out of Oregon. >> Yeah, it's in my purse. >> It's It's in your purse inside. >> Yeah, it should be. I said I'm not sure. >> So, which one of these IDs is yours? >> So, many >> passport to the right. >> Yeah. Who are these? >> I'm not sure, sir. >> Her scheme had already been exposed. She stole the merchandise yesterday and came back today to return it for cash, but that was exactly what the store staff had been waiting for. >> Is she 100% the one that tried to get out yesterday? Um, >> we have my card. >> She didn't change her her clothes or anything. >> Really? >> She said she tried to use her card, but everything she said >> tried to take the card out of merchandise, but there was three managers that prevented her from doing it. >> No, they didn't stop me or anything. They were just standing around me. >> And that's when you decided, oh, I'm not going to risk it getting caught because you were right there at the point of sale. Final point of sale took it out, >> right? My card declined. >> Well, you still took the cart all the way to the final point of sale. >> Yeah. Who does that? >> But you have to to ring it up. >> But your card got declined. How you going to pay for it? >> You don't leave your cart. >> Okay. Yeah, you're going to be booked into jail cuz that's the only reasonable way we can identify you cuz you got so many IDs. You can't find your driver's license. So, that's the safest way for me cuz I don't want to get your name is not really Tessa. I don't want to get >> Tessa in trouble because you lied about your identity. >> I'm telling you the truth about my identity, you guys. It's right there. >> Which one? >> The Tessa. >> Like I said, I just grabbed that bag. >> It doesn't really look like you. >> I'm moving. Just grab my bag out of there. Use that bag. So that's $649. That's not counting the refund frog. >> Wow. >> $649. >> Wow. >> What? Me? >> Yeah. >> I just paid for some though. >> Not even close to This ain't even close to $649. >> Have you ever been trespassed or anything from here, you guys? >> Don't be trespassed and cited and booked into jail. Even when the woman realized her plan had completely fallen apart and there was no way to talk her way out, she immediately came up with new tricks to try. >> Oh, come on. I find that hard to believe. >> Look, everything >> I've never done. >> Everything you said >> I've seen people >> since the time we contacted you >> with you the whole >> has either been a lie or some kind of roundabout crap. >> How has it been a lie? I've been talking about everything. >> I paid for that. >> No, I paid for some of it. As I said, >> you know what? We're not We're not dealing with semantics here. This is not an English language course. Okay. >> I have pretty good ears. I've been doing this for 30 years. I know when people lie to me. >> What What state were you born in? >> Portland. >> Oh my god. I was like a passport. >> More the difference. >> No. What do you mean? >> He He just asked you. >> I didn't hear him say >> state were you born in. I heard it. >> Okay. Sorry. I thought he was talking about that. >> And you said Portland, Oregon. >> That's where I'm from. I'm sorry. That's just you guys have a lot going on right now. Like >> you got a lot going on. I got a lot going on too. >> I'm sorry you guys. I've never done this before. >> What's your last name? >> How do you spell it? >> Okay. What's your middle or sorry, what's your first name? >> Tessa. >> Tessa. What's your middle initial? >> M as in Mary. >> Yes. >> Why does your passport say L? >> Does not. >> That's not your passport all of a sudden. >> No, I didn't say that. >> Then what? >> You guys, >> you know what? I'm just going to do the psych based on what she's giving me >> and the jail can figure it out. >> You know, this could have been so easy. >> I answered everything. I've been telling you everything. >> Yeah, you're answering everything. That's great. But you everything's roundabout or a lie. >> It is not. >> Her identity couldn't be verified, and every lie she told only made things worse. But the police had no intention of giving up. They had already decided on their next move. >> We We already looked for your ID in there. >> Like, look, >> I don't know what you're trying to get out of this. You're under arrest. I get that. >> We need to identify you. That's it. You're not We're not about to be Okay, you know what? We're sorry. We inconvenience you. >> No, you guys aren't I understand what I did was wrong >> and that's why you're going to get booked today because they're going to take your fingerprints at jail and then they'll actually identify you. So, if you have any other warrants or anything like that, you can probably expect to sit there and serve that time for those warrants. If you have any felony warrants, what they'll do is they'll transport you to King County Jail and have you sit there. If you have any outer state warrants, they'll extradite you back to that state and you can serve your time there. >> No. >> Okay. That's That's just what I'm telling you is going to happen. >> Okay. But I don't have that. >> Okay. Then if then you don't have to worry about it, then you're just going to serve your time for today's incident. >> What is that? What is that much time? Because I have >> I I cannot tell you. It's on the It's on the court system. >> And if I have to get that what >> it's on the courts. So once once you go to jail, you're going to get you're going to have your hearing. The judge is going to determine all the facts whether to give you bail or no bail, and then they'll go from there. >> In the end, she was charged with theft, refund fraud, and providing false identification. When you try to lie your way out, you only dig yourself deeper. The truth always catches up. And the more you run from it, the harder it hits. Next, this woman went even further, acting like a victim. >> I'm tired. I've worked all day. And I'll be game. They're going to steal my stuff and I get in trouble for it. >> Were you concealing items in >> Why was I No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. I don't. I can't sit on that. >> The woman was clearly in a highly unstable state of mind. Even as the officers tried to gather more information, she refused to cooperate and repeatedly demanded special treatment. >> I want a supervisor. Okay. What is uh your date of birth? >> I want a supervisor, please. >> Supervisor tied up. >> I don't care. I want one. You have to give me one. Okay. >> Yes, you do. You're treating me like a criminal, and that's not fair. >> Listen, if you just came and talk to us, we won't have to all this other stuff. >> Yeah. They're going to steal my stuff and I get in trouble for it. Nobody knows where it's at, so they stole my stuff and I get in trouble for it. >> Nobody said you're in trouble right now. >> I feel humiliated. I feel disrespected and I feel no. >> Okay, I'm sorry that feel that way, but we have a job to do. So, >> no. And you guys should And you guys don't know. I mean, like I was thinking she took a phone like selling cards without her knowing she's been running around looking for the stuff that's been disappearing. Like >> she has been >> Yeah. So I don't I don't know everything. That's just like from what I've heard, this is weird. Like we don't normally call you the way we did. >> She didn't unless she actually did it called you way before too early. So, >> okay. >> So, but I don't unless there's something I don't know or something, but >> Okay. >> I mean, >> yeah. I'm I'm pissed. I want my belongings. >> Go get them. >> I'll get them when they're ready to give them to me. >> No. >> When they're ready, they get to spill my stuff and I'm told I have to wait. But yet, I didn't go nowhere near a cash register with their stuff. I didn't even push the car all the way around the store. I left it sitting in the front by the register. So, I didn't have to push it around the store and then I get in trouble for it. Are you serious? This is Danny. What's happening? Can you go to the restroom with me? I bought a rose bush. Tomorrow's my mom's birthday. Go look. Tomorrow I didn't even take the car outside. I've got a rose bush from there. That woman came out there and told me that I couldn't couldn't be out there. >> Even after receiving her items, she believed her business was done. Yet, she continued insisting on proving her innocence. >> Hey, where you going? >> No, you're not. >> Why? What? What did I do? Please tell me what I done wrong. Please, please tell me what I did wrong this year. >> What? >> I didn't do nothing wrong. I didn't push no cart outside. I need to go to the hospital. >> You can stay on the ground. That's better. >> I need to go to the hospital. >> Okay. >> I need to go to the hospital. You're hurting me. I need to go to the hospital. I'm pregnant and I need to go to the hospital. >> I'm pregnant and I need to go to the hospital. >> You just told me you're on your period. How are you pregnant? Where did you get the uh EBT card from? >> I'm pregnant and I need to go to the hospital. >> In the end, she was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and falsification of identity. Overconfidence, and refusal to cooperate can escalate minor incidents into [music] serious legal trouble. Worse, this employee wasn't completely honest, even after being caught. >> And then there's been multiple scans of cash donation under your name and other employees names. Uh, but it's it's only you doing it on video. >> On July 31st, 2024, police were called to a 7-Eleven for a theft. The suspect, an employee, was caught embezzling money from charity donations. When they arrived, the manager revealed the scheme had been going on for a long time. >> There and then doing a refund and pocketing the money. So, she did that for 2 weeks and total was $1,900. She's on the register right now. I've got another manager in there who's supposed to pull her into the office so she doesn't get spooked and try to vul. Um, but she's in there right now stole $1,900 in total. >> So, do you have the >> We've got the CCTV footage. We've got receipts that she's rung up. She did it on another associates's numbers, but you can match it to the cameras and see that it's her. >> She did it on another associates's >> numbers. Yeah. Sign it. So, it's under somebody else's name, but you match the timestamps with the camera on the camera. It's it's her and you can see it just >> put in her pocket and stuff. >> At this point, the employee still didn't realize she had been discovered, but the police decided to surprise her during her shift. >> Hey, just turn around and put your hands behind directly. >> So, you're being placed under arrest right now for fraud. >> I know you got a lot of questions. Everything's going to be explained to you. Okay. Okay. >> Put your palms together >> like you're praying. >> There you go. Do >> you have anything illegal on your person? >> No. >> Knives? Anything sharp that's going to poke, cut, or anything like that? >> Where would your belongings be? Over here. >> Where >> is there a purse or something? >> Over there. Okay. >> Just let me know which ones are yours. This. Okay, >> just leave those here. >> And my purse is right there. Okay. >> Those >> My purse is right there. >> This purse? >> Yeah. Do you have anything else? >> No. Okay. Wait. Oh, not that one. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> The other one? >> This one? >> This one? >> Yes. >> One. Do you want to leave that here? >> Oh, yeah. >> At the police station, according to the woman, she had only recently started working at her current job. But the officers also learned that this was not her first run-in with wrongdoing. >> What were you arrested for? >> Um, my previous charges um of what was it? Fraud. It was fraudulent stuff. it. I can't tell you the exact charge, but I know it was >> like fraud related. >> Yes. >> Okay. How long ago was that? >> Um about two to three months. I want to say >> two three months. Settling for for about a month or maybe a little over. >> Mhm. >> Uh before that spent a little time in McDonald's. You did a CNA. >> Mhm. >> Uh certified nurse assistant. Okay. >> Um All right. Do you like working at 7-Eleven? >> Yeah. Okay. All right. Are you going to school or anything like that currently? No. >> All right. >> I just have three babies. >> You got three kids? Okay. All right. Um, >> at this point, the police decided to bring up the incident to gauge her response, but she didn't admit to any wrongdoing and only spoke about the challenges of her job. >> Okay. So, the reason why you're here today, um, obviously there there's been some concern, uh, in reference to charity donations at work. You you know what I'm talking about. >> All right. Can you tell me what's going on with that? >> I haven't did anything wrong um, by me starting being new. Um, I work up under somebody else's numbers. Um, they gave me numbers for my own register, okay? >> But they wasn't working this morning when I tried to put them in. >> Um, from my understanding, I mean, I was still in the system for everything, so I don't really know too much about that. >> Um, so like numbers as as far as like kind of like >> register like Yeah, >> each employee has a different register number. Okay. >> All right. So, you kind of yours wasn't working or something like that. They she just had gave them to me. What was it? I was off yesterday. So, the day before that she gave me them. Um I tried them this morning. They didn't work. >> Um so I work up under someone else's numbers. >> Okay. Is it multiple people's numbers work under or is it >> just hers? >> This one specifically? >> Yes. Whoever like is over that shift when I get there. The police tried to persuade the woman to be honest about the incident, but it seemed their efforts fell short of expectations. >> Because I want you to be straight with me cuz if you're being dishonest, then that says something totally different. And now we have videos showing otherwise. I mean, it's I rather you just be straight with me. Say, "Hey, look, I messed up. I'm not perfect." And I get that cuz no one's perfect. But if you're saying one thing and then I have evidence to say otherwise and it's not matching up, then that I mean that shows a different character. And I don't looking at you, I don't think you're like that. I mean, I don't think you're that type of person. This is this is your chance to come out and say, "All right, look, if you made a mistake, I mean, I get that." You know, just let it be known. But if you choose not to talk and you just want to go the route like nothing happened but everything else is showing otherwise then you know the judge if you go to trial jury's going to see all that and again you don't seem like that type of person you know I mean no one's perfect and I get that I mean this is your opportunity to kind of explain that and come on out. Does that make sense? >> Yeah. So tell me what's going on or what happened cuz they got you on video taking cash out of the register. >> So it doesn't show me it being on me. It just shows it me coming cuz I have regardless we have to drop money. >> Under the officer's persistence, the woman eventually admitted to some actions but she still tried to deny other wrongdoing. What I'm saying is they have video of you taking cash out of register and then later put in your pocket. So there and then there's been multiple scans of cash donation under your name and other employees names. Uh but it's it's only you doing it on video and then later the cash is removed. Your pocket is pocketed and then the drawers are short that amount of money. >> So I'm pocketing the money. That's That's what they said they have you on video doing. [snorts] >> Cuz I use the red things that the red brown things that the money go in. Normally when you put in if you drop the money literally I write on those and everything. So that's what I'm saying. I use those and I do have like stuff that I don't wrote on that I don't put in my pocket and everything. But >> So what happened to that cash that you put in the paper bag that you put in your pocket? I don't have no cash or nothing. That's what I'm saying. It It can literally easily be a cuz I also use them paper bags also to write on and I literally like I don't have no cash. If I had the cash, I'll be okay. Yes, I got it. Whatever. But I literally cuz it's the closest thing to me and the receipt papers, you can't automatically just press the button and it come out. You can write on it. I write on the brown ones a lot. So, I'm always putting that in my pocket. The ones that I write on, which when they just got me, I was writing on them, two of them, and Yeah. >> Writing what on on the back? >> I was just basically I had some bills to pay, but I was just making little notes on it, but I didn't bring it with me. >> Okay. All right. >> But I don't have any money. Seriously, I don't have any money. The police informed her that there was probable cause for arrest and she would be charged with grand theft and organized fraud. Lesson learned. Being honest from the start helps avoid bigger trouble. Trying to deny wrongdoing only makes the consequences worse. With no resistance, this woman still didn't make things easy for the officers. >> Then why am I not free to go? >> Because you have been identified as stealing somebody's wallet. >> I'm not been identified as steal somebody's wallet. On December 5th, 2021, police were called to a TSA [music] checkpoint following a theft. Upon arriving at the scene, the distraught victim recounted the ordeal she had just experienced. >> What happened? >> It was in the bathroom. >> I was My flight's boarding right now. And I put my backpack with my wallet in here and I was consolidating my bags. The wizard went to the bathroom and I left it right outside the door. She grabbed it, opened it up, took my wallet, my ID, and all my stuff out right there in the bathroom. Like five seconds there. Then I grabbed my bag and I asked everybody, "Did you see? Did you see what happened?" They're like, "No, no, they have my wallet. They have my ID. They have everything. >> Okay. >> Can you identify anything about that?" >> No, no, nothing. That is a Louis Vuitton wallet. My credit cards are in there. everything. >> Somebody saw me standing at the terminal who followed me. >> So, they wanted us to open up also. >> What's your name? >> And you said a Louis Vuitton wallet. >> Yes. >> Brown. >> It's brown. So, it's the the LV logo. >> It's the logo wallet. >> How much is that? >> $1,200. >> Is it the the bill pipe or >> It's a zipper. It zipped all the way up around the clutch. >> At that moment, another officer arrived after recovering the victim's wallet and he even provided information about the suspect responsible. >> Listen, man. Relax. >> If this is yours, I'mma give you the claim. For the hype on this, it can't happen around me. >> I'm not the hyper. >> Okay. Looking for a white female, white fur coat, burgundy roller bag with a white face mask. She's the one that dropped the wallet off over there in front of a different another female. and just left. >> So they took all my cash. >> So that's what they told me that white female white coat burning the roller bag and she walked she walked this way. >> She walked that way. >> Yeah. So if you want me to try to pass you see her >> and maybe you see there's a lady she know for a fact who she saw dropped the wire off right now. >> Okay. Who who saw her drop the wire off? >> On the corner this way. You want us to? >> Yeah. >> Do you need anything else from me, sir? >> If we if we if we find anybody, do you want to prosecute? >> Yes, I do. >> Okay. What What's What's missing? >> Just all my cash. >> Just the cash. The $7 >> I got my ID. I've got >> But the $70 cash is gone. >> The $70 cash is gone. >> Okay. >> Thanks to bystanders, the police were able to approach the woman exactly as described by the victim. Notice her attitude during the encounter. >> You guys in here? >> Yeah. Could you um could you come with us for a second? Let me >> I'm sorry. >> Could you come with us for a second? >> Can you have Can you have a seat over here for us, please? >> Right here. >> Let me get a lady, please. >> Do you have any identification? >> I don't know. >> I'm sorry. >> Yes, I can. >> Can I see you, please? >> Yes, of course. >> What am I getting a citation for? >> You're not getting a citation? You're not getting a citation, ma'am. >> So, can I have my brush birthday? >> No. No, not yet. Did you drop a wallet? >> Yes, I did. >> You You dropped What? What? What? Where? What wallet did you drop? >> This one? >> No. Did you drop a brown wallet? >> No, I didn't. >> You didn't? >> No. >> Okay. Well, why is somebody telling us that you did? >> No. I don't know why. >> Why is somebody telling us that you dropped a wallet? The police continued to ask questions close to the issue to be able to collect more information, but received back still the innocence from the suspect. >> Ma'am, there's nothing. >> Ma'am, a witness saw you drop some other lady's wallet. >> I found the wallet and I dropped it. >> Okay. Where's the cash out of it? >> I don't know. >> What do you mean you don't know? >> I don't know. You can show Search me. Search me. >> Where's the What's this? >> I don't know. Search me. >> Where's the Where's Hold on. Hold on. >> It's your money. >> It's your money. You don't know that it's your money. >> I know that it's my money. >> How do you know that it's your money? >> Because it's my money. >> Because it's my money. >> Let me Let me go see. Let me go talk to the victim. See if she wants to press charges. >> Okay, we've got her. We've got the We've got a witness that saw her drop the wallet. tomorrow. >> But if you want to prosecute, you got to stay because she's out of state. >> I have to go for work. My hand's dying. >> Okay. >> I got a funeral. So, >> all right. So, you're So, you're good with h you're good with having the wallet back and everything. >> I I don't have a choice. Yeah. >> All right. >> After the officers updated everything with the victim, they returned to the suspect and made their decision. >> Can you give me my passport? >> No. Not yet. >> Not yet. >> Not yet. You're not free to go. >> Why? Why am I not free to go? >> Because you have been identified as stealing somebody's wallet. >> I'm not been identified as steal somebody's wallet. >> I I just And you admit And you admitted to me that you picked up the wallet and then dropped it. >> Yes. >> Okay. Have a seat. >> There's things that we have to check. And then depending on that, you'll either make your flight tomorrow or you won't. >> Okay. Yeah. Okay. But in the meantime, >> can you can you can you talk to the detective? >> The detective is coming is be he'll be here in just a few minutes, but he's got to go to the office. Okay. He's going to check the video. And then, like I said, depending on what he finds, we'll go from there. Okay. But in the meantime, you have to stay calm and you have to stay seated. >> Can Can I Can I please have a margarita? >> No, you can't have a margarita. No, you can't have a margarita right now. >> When we're done when we're done here, if if you're free to go, then you can go have a margarita then, but not right now. No. >> Can please. >> After everything, the cameras confirmed the woman walked right behind the victim into the restroom, and the footage showed her placing an item from her own bag, exactly where airport security later found the wallet. She was charged with grand theft. When you steal, there's always something watching and someone paying attention. The truth has a way of showing up and the consequences will follow. In the next case, this employee ruined her future because of a mistake at work. >> I said you're not under arrest. You're good. Take your time. Is that your water? >> I I got arrested. >> What? Why? >> On November 25th, 2024, police received a call from Macy's reporting an employee had stolen cash from the register with total losses estimated under $1,000. Upon arrival, the suspect displayed belated remorse for her actions. >> Do you know why we're here? Thank you. Yeah. All right. So, uh, you're not under arrest or anything, but under Florida law, every time I go talk to somebody, I have to read their Miranda rights, right? Uh, I'm sure you've seen in TV shows and stuff. So, like I said, you're not under arrest. You're good. Take your time. Is that your water? If you want to take a sip of water or anything, you can take the sip of water. Um, I'll read your uh uh your constitutional rights, your Miranda rights. If you have any questions at any mean, just at any minute, just to stop me and I'll explain it to you, okay? Do anything to get you to talk to me. Okay. So, we got a call here for allegations of some missing money, right? I'm assuming Macy's already talked to you about it. So, I'm here to get your side of the story of what happened, right? Um, I'm usually pretty up forward and I'm honest to the person. That's why I tell you, like, you know, there's no secret to why I'm >> The police had to talk to and calm the woman. At this point, she was able to calmly disclose her actions, fully aware of the amount she had taken. >> Can you tell me what happened? Um to keep it short, I mean I took a few times money from register. >> You took money from the register. Do you have any idea how many times? >> A few times. >> A few times. We're talking three. We're talking 10. We're talking 50. >> Oh, it's less than 10. >> Less than 10. >> And do you know how much money you [music] took? >> 2100. Yeah, that's what they said. Yeah. >> Well, that's what they're saying. >> Mhm. >> How much you think it took? >> I estimated under a thousand. >> Under a,000. >> Okay. Uh like the times that you took, what was the largest amount you ever took in one day? >> 400. >> 400. And then what was the least amount you took in one day? >> I think it was like $60. >> 60 bucks. >> Whenever I closed or opened the register? when you're close or open the register >> and then you will take the money out. >> So if it wasn't closing, I'll take it from the deposit. >> What is What do you mean by the deposit? Like the money that you would have sent it to another employee to make the bank deposit. >> Yes. Or like here at Macy's, we would go upstairs and we would like throw it into like this mail thingy. >> Mhm. And I guess they send it out to somebody or something like it like we'll put in a bag in the deposit bag. >> Okay. And then when you put on deposit back, do you seal that bag? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> It [snorts] was clear that this young woman had a stable job which made the police question why she would risk her future by committing such an act. >> Why are you doing this? >> Like I told them it's for school out of the pay pocket. Um >> you pay for college? >> Yeah. So, I did get a scholarship, but there's parts where I have to pay it back. And I have an upcoming trip. I know it sounds stupid, but I have an upcoming trip next month, and I'm short on money on that. >> Where are you going? >> Cancun. >> For how long? >> A week. >> A week. Going with friends, family. >> With my boyfriend. >> Um, where do you where are you going to school at? >> Valencia. >> Valencia College. What are you taking? >> What? >> Yeah. What? It's medical assistant with EKG. >> Oh, very good. >> How far are you in? >> I just started. >> How long is the program? >> Um, it's an accelerated course, so it's like 4 months. >> Oh, those are hard. >> Yeah. Um, and it's 2 days a week, but I'm using that as a stepping stone to like do nursing later on. >> That's I mean, it's probably one of the best industries. >> I wish I had a thought and went to the medical field test. It's hard. >> It is hard and I don't know if I can do it. >> So, but it's a beautiful profession. I'll tell you that. >> You know, it's I think it's extremely rewarding. So, I see every day like we go to hospitals every day. We see people every day. >> While her wrongdoing could not be excused, the police recognizing her honest admission and ongoing studies patiently explain the potential consequences she could face. >> You're probably going to be going to jail today. Okay. You will have a bond. Uh you'll be able to make phone calls and everything from the jail to get your family to help you out, to bond you out. Uh you're also allowed to bond yourself out if you have any cash record. But uh based on the little that I already saw it and if continues that they were willing to prosecute, my hands are tied on that. I have no choice but to take to the job today. who has this who has to say to >> Maces they are the victims of the crime. So I'm I'm just the the the mitigator here and you know as uh as far the law works every time there is a crime the decision comes from the vict uh from the victim but few exceptions right and those few exceptions I mean domestic violence homicide and stuff like that homicides because the victim is right so on this case which is a theft you being charged with theft um and then uh the the victim is Macy's. So I know they were making a couple phone calls to their superiors and stuff to trying to get the final decision. If the decision is made to prosecute you, then I'll be taking you to Orange County Jail for process. >> At this point, the police decided to take her from the scene, giving her one last chance to contact her family. This incident would become a major lesson in her life. Oh, >> we'll call him when we get to the jail. Uh before we go inside my phone, though. >> Yeah, I can. I'll let you do that. Normally I don't let people do that, but uh I will uh I will let you uh make the phone call. I'll help you out. You call from your phone and then you're allowed to take once the once you go inside the jail, [music] they will allow you to take, I believe, up to three numbers out of your phone and have on a piece of paper to make more phone calls. And then over there, you can also make as many phone calls as you want. >> Sir, do we need any of this? N that's all Macy stuff. Any questions for us? >> Thank you. >> Thank you. >> You guys request for I'mma pass you down in the car. Do you have anything on you that that could possibly hurt me? Honey, me in your stance about like >> What happened? >> Hello. >> What happened? What are you talking about? Hold on. What happened? >> I I got arrested. >> What? Why? What? Wait, what? >> Yes, sir. Officer, can you hear me? >> I I I just [ __ ] up. >> What did you do? >> In the end, the woman was charged with death. Even with a stable job, giving in to temptation can ruin your future. Honesty matters, but stopping yourself before doing wrong is key. Next, the woman even regressed like a child when caught. My mom's a captain of the police. Mom. Mom. Mom. >> Sit up. Be an adult. >> Be an adult and sit up. >> Come on. We'll help you out. >> On April 8th, 2024, officers were dispatched to Walmart after reports that a woman had quietly stolen merchandise while her unsuspecting husband stood by. When police arrived, the cameras had already laid everything bare. Every slick, deceitful scan caught in perfect detail. So the the amount missed was 4363 without the tax. So this item right here that's right on top of that other item never gets scanned. She's kind of holds it over. It scans the bottom items and places it right here for him to bag. Uh I don't think he realized what all was going on. Um and I he went to go get the kids. He had to pick up the kids. That's why he's not here. >> Does it happen that way on every item? >> Not every item. Like for this one right here, they have six of them. They only ring up three. Now, she says it's because they were stuck together and they don't know that you can pull them apart. But let me fast forward it to the end because this is the most obvious one. She has it stacked up on top of it and she's going to take the the hand scanner and only scan the top item before passing both items across. >> Her ID. >> Yes. So, she scans everything, then places it here for him to bag. But with this, she'll scan that, but then just have that chilling right there for him to bag it. >> I see. over. >> At this point, officers also approached the woman sitting nearby. And even after hearing everything the investigation had uncovered, she still showed cooperation only with obvious reluctance. >> Can you put the phone down for me, please, so we can ask you some questions? >> They're both here. >> Yes or no? >> You going to put the phone down? >> Okay. Well, hold on cuz they're yelling at me now. >> Okay. >> What is your name? >> Amber. >> You have a Florida deal? >> I'm sorry. Do you have a Florida driver's license? >> Yes, I do. >> Where is that? >> I don't know. >> Lose attitude. >> Okay. >> You have one, too. With all due respect, I didn't do nothing wrong. I didn't say nothing to you. >> What is your last name? >> You have an attitude. >> What is your last name? >> Spell it. Okay. This deputy is the deputy in the case and he says you need to stay off the phone. So, listen to him. Thank you. >> A cucumber, a onion, and a tomato. Uh, she just takes it from the top there, >> right? The white onion and then the cilantro gets scanned. But then the other stuff in there, she never even bothers to take it out. >> I just need to see the uh when you stopped her. >> Oh, when we stop. >> Yeah. Yeah. Which entrance? >> Grocery or >> It was right out here. >> Her attempts to contact her family only threatened to make everything spiral further out of control. So, officers stepped in to shut it down and what followed exploded into complete chaos. All right. I tried to be nice. I told you to get off the phone. >> My mom's a captain of the police. Mom. Mom. Mom. Get on the ground. >> I'm not even mom. Mom. I'm not Mom. Mom, the lawyers. Get back in here, please. I'm not even doing anything. >> Stop resisting and put your arm behind your back now. >> There's nothing wrong with being on the phone until I'm under arrest. >> You're going to get a resistance charge. You understand me? >> I'm literally laying here not doing anything. >> Put your arm behind your back. >> Stop fighting. >> 97. I'm trying to get back in the door. Come on. >> Put your hand drop. Move your hands. Mom, I'm not resisting. Mom. Mom, you guys are both on top of me. I weigh 130 lbs. >> Mom. Mom. Mom. [screaming] Mom, please tell James to call Johnny. >> This one is way too tight. You're cutting off my circulation. >> The adult woman desperately called her mother, showing no responsibility for her own actions while lying there in front of all the stolen merchandise. >> All right, relax. Relax. >> No, I can't sit up. Please let me lay down. I feel >> sit up. Be an adult. I have >> be an adult and sit up. >> Come on, we'll help you up. >> You really going to do this? You're going to >> master. >> You're going to Okay. >> I don't need I need a master. >> Do you want to sit up like an adult now? >> See, I can't. I can't. >> You can't sit up, guys. >> Okay. All you got to do is get off the phone. All right. I'm going to have ambulance coming. >> No, I don't. I'm refusing. You can't put me on ambulance if I refuse. That's >> I just need I'm going to get her up. >> No, I can't get up right now. I need a lady here. >> I was like, I don't want ambulance. >> Well, I mean, I was just going to come check her out. >> This is all because she wouldn't come. Okay. You >> want to try sitting up now? >> I don't I don't know if I can. They're going to help you. >> Sam, how old are you? >> I'm 30. >> 30. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Ready? One, two, three. >> Officers struggled to manage the woman. And it turned out there was a reason behind her insistence on calling her parents. >> My parents, the captains of the police department for 30 years. Did you get all her info on that trespass? >> No, because there was no record found for that name. So, >> all right. Do you have a floor deal card? Cuz she's indicating that's not coming back. >> That's what our dispatch said under that name. >> If you call my husband, he has everything. >> Why would I? You're an adult, Lee. >> I I got in trouble for that. There's nothing I could do. He has my medication. >> Are you 15? Why would I call your >> Oh, then I can't prove anything to you. >> Where's your >> Okay, so you want to risk giving me false information. Have three charges today. >> If you charge me for false information, then you >> I can't validate what you're telling me, ma'am. >> I'm trying to give you an opportunity. >> What would you like me to do about that? >> I would like you to explain why she can't find your Florida deal. >> Or I'm going to charge you under the name that you've given me. If that's wrong, that's going to be additional charge. >> I don't know what to tell you. I came to DMV. I got an ID. You don't have any drugs or anything in your bra or your underwear? >> No. >> All right. 4363 was the amount, right? >> 4363. Why do all yours work out fine? >> I do one for this this guy >> and it's freaking the New York that thinks this is New York. >> What's your occupation? >> I'm a waitress. >> Are you a veteran? Okay. Immediately after escorting the woman to the patrol car, officers encountered her parents, who judging by their reaction, showed no goodwill toward what had unfolded, according to their daughter's account. >> I want to know what's going on. >> Okay, she's going to jail for one, shoplifting. >> Shoplifting. >> Okay, she says she missed a scam. >> Okay, there's video of it happening. Walmart wants to prosecute. She's going to jail for shoplifting. >> Shoplifting in one manner. She missed the scam. She did something with the shop. >> She's going to jail for shoplifting. >> She's also She's also going to jail for resisting. She was fighting this deputy all because she wouldn't get off her phone. She was asked to multiple times would not get off. >> Was on the phone with her. >> I know. Then she acted as though she was having a We had EMS come check her out. She said, "I don't need an ambulance. I don't want to go to the hospital. This is stupid. I don't know why you guys had them come here. They checked her out. All her levels are good. Blood sugar, everything that she could have possibly complained of. So, would you like to come inside to get her belongings?" >> Yes. >> Can we just do one person? >> One person. All right. Can you have your name and shield number and your partner's name and shield number? >> Deputy Holly 625 >> and your partner >> Ethan Dennison. I don't know his badge number off the top of my head. >> We will get the horse real soon. >> You guys here guys are really good and love. The woman was ultimately charged with shoplifting and resisting [music] without violence. Even when caught in wrongdoing, trying to rely on others to fix the situation rarely helps. Taking [music] responsibility directly is always the better path. >> Plenty of money to buy whatever. That's the That's not That's why I'm going to stop right now. >> This time you're being underrest. >> Are you serious? On April 23rd, 2023, officers quickly stopped a family leaving Universal Studios after reports that one of them walked out with a pile of unpaid merchandise. Here's what happened next. >> If you want, you can take all the kids. Office is right around the corner. >> Can you take the kids and we take a stroller and her back then? >> That other bag? Possibly stolen. >> So, he's apparently looking for receipts. I just want to ask paper with a backpack. So, he's going to find the receipts. >> Whatever, babe. Whatever. I'm already here taking everything for you, so thanks. >> All right, I'm just going to read you something because you're >> When officers approached the mother, she acted busy calling family to prove she had receipts, completely ignoring them. Her excuse for accidentally taking the item sounded reasonable, but could it really be that simple? >> Okay, so why did you take the backpack, you know? >> I should have I should have left it in there. I came to get her card out of her little Wolverine. um fanny pack. >> Okay. So, she >> my daughter was in the store. She said, "My fanny pack's there. I just got it. Went across the street." >> So, who's with the stroller? >> My husband was supposed to be with the stroller. My 15-year-old used the restroom. So, I got back. He's gone. My 15-year-old standing there with our stroller. >> Okay. And then, so you left the store with the backpack to get >> her car back or her backpack that she wanted. >> Where was your purse at? You're you're a coach person. >> That was on me. >> Okay. So, that has money in it. Why wouldn't you pay for it? >> Cuz she's spending her own money. She's had water bottle sales, chocolate sales. She wants to spend her money. >> That's our money for competition. >> Okay. >> So, I have plenty of money to buy whatever. That's the That's not That's why I'm pissed off right now because I have the money. >> Okay. >> She has her own little cash app car with her own little money. >> Does your daughter have a phone? She claims she thought her daughter had already paid for the items, calling it a misunderstanding, then proudly insisted she had plenty of money and no reason to steal. >> Does your daughter have a phone? >> Uh, yes. >> Okay. And you had a phone? >> So why wouldn't you call your daughter to come into the store? >> My daughter was with me. She was with me in >> So why wouldn't she go out to get her money? >> I'm not going to let my dad walk out of the store. I told her to stay right here by the door when she was standing by the door as she watched me look for everything. I'm talking to my kid about where their dad is when they get there because he's not there. So, as I'm having the conversation with the backpack, then they come up to me and this is not She was buying more stuff. She was holding more stuff in the store that she was going to purchase, too. So, it wasn't just the backpack she was going to buy. >> What? So, the the distance of what, maybe 10 ft, you didn't feel comfortable enough leaving your daughter in the store? >> No, she stayed in the store. >> Well, that's what I'm saying. I'm sorry. You didn't feel comfortable enough to let her go to the stroller where your older son was at? No, I wanted to make sure all my kids I did not see my I didn't see him there. That's why I walked across because it was only my four-year-old, my three-year-old, and my 15-year-old son. So, I didn't see him. >> Do you ever do you ever leave your daughter alone with your >> No, my 15-year-old. Yes. >> Okay. So, >> he was with my babies. >> Okay. But if you saw him with the stroller, like you just said, he was standing there in the stroller with the babies. Then why would you feel comfortable >> letting your daughter walk to the stroller to get >> I don't know. >> I I'm just trying to understand >> then cross the mind. Just go across, get her thing, and come back, buy all the stuff she wanted. >> So it's like you just slipped up and you just forgot to put the >> She claimed the backpack belonged to her daughter and said she only stepped out to grab a payment card. But when asked why she didn't call her, her story shifted to being lost from her husband and kids. >> All right, so tell me about all the other property that was on the stroll. >> Like I said, everything was there. I've been into Moles. I went into Cresburg. I ordered my son this. My husband's by myself with my daughter. So what he did? I >> Did you buy that today? >> They have the receipt for this. >> Yeah. But did you buy that today? >> Yes. >> Okay. So you bought that today. The receipt for that is in your bag. No, they already showed it. They took it out. >> Yeah, I know. Cuz I found it in your bag. Okay. Why wouldn't the receipts for the other merchandise be in your bag? >> This is all I bought. >> Okay. So, where did the other merchandise? I don't know. My husband was by himself. >> Okay. But you're in possession of the stroller >> cuz I walked Okay. My husband was standing with the stroller with all my kids. I walked across the thing looking for my husband that had a stroller and he was gone. That's why I told my oldest son, "Where's he?" >> I'm not asking about the backpack anymore. I'm asking about all the other merchandise that was found in the store. >> I know. >> So that just you were never with your husband in any other store. All that. >> So why don't why are there any receipts for that? >> There might be. He said the everything ET he has receipts for which he's looking for right now. But he said that he took two backpacks is what he told me. So I'm pitching him out right now. He said all I did was take two backpacks. >> Okay. And how much money did he bring with him [clears throat] today? How did he bring with him today? Thousand maybe $1,000 >> in cash or card. >> Officers pressed her about the stroller packed with tagged items and no receipts. She quickly blamed her husband, claiming he paid for everything with $1,000 in cash. A story that only raised more doubts. >> So, every time he went into a store, you guys, what did you do? >> What did he do? What did I do? >> What did you do? >> Walk my kids around and see what they wanted. I want to have been in two stores. >> Okay. So, you were So, like you said, none of the cameras of the stores will show you with him at any point. >> No. >> In the store? >> No. >> Okay. >> I mean, that's a lot of merchandise and a lot of that stuff has the security still on it. Did you not think that was weird why it had security? >> I didn't look at anything he bought. He was like all excited. I bought this for so and so. I bought this for so you find it weird that >> So, I thought that he had money. He bought it. >> Did you find it weird? >> So, I didn't think anything of it at all. Did you find it weird that he brought the merchandise to you not in bags? >> They were in bags. >> Well, when we were standing out here at the restroom, he walked up and none of the merchandise he had in his hand was a bag. >> When you walked up, I didn't see what he walked up, but every other time he's walked up to me, he had bags. >> She blamed her husband to save herself, but the truth was about to turn against her. Watch how security proved he was never the thief. So, real quick, just to kind of hear where I'm going, um, you saw her in the store walk in with the stroller and all those bags. >> No, no, the stroller was over at the restrooms when I first clocked her. I was walking up uh from uh north deeper into the park approaching the restrooms and the I was in the street approaching the restroom on my left. >> You saw her take from the store that back? >> Yes. So, what I saw is I saw her with the stroller. I saw her lead the stroller across the street, walk from the stroller into the store. Since I had observed there was a lot of merchandise in the store, I thought I'd walk just walk into the store as well just to observe what she did. I observed her approach the display for the backpack. So sling the back over pack over her right shoulder and observe her exit the stroller without paying and go directly back to the stroller. When she was at the stroller, she took possession of it, tried to bag up the backpack that she had not paid for in a [music] bag that was hanging from the stroller. >> Got you. Um, so when you went, so you said you you left the store, you walked over to the restrooms, um, to check on your kids. >> Well, not to the restroom, to my stroller. >> To the but by the restroom, right? So you walked over there um and you to check on the kids, right? >> Well, to get the card out of my my her card out of her bag on there. >> Oh, that's right. Yeah. >> And then when I saw the dad was missing, I'm like more focused on where why do you need my kids? Security confirmed she walked out with the backpack and tried to hide it in the stroller bag. Flustered and defensive, she called it a misunderstanding, but her shifting story only made things worse. >> That's how I am. I've never stolen anything in my whole life. >> Is he still out there? >> Counterpart. >> Okay, I'm going to go talk to him. Um, I might be more inclined if he admits to taking all of it. to take in instead of the kids. >> Okay, that's understandable. >> Just because >> I was getting the same sense that maybe he was doing more of this killing, but I was cruel. >> I still think she she I think she's she's a part of it because she >> she still wanted >> her so-called clean record was about to collapse as officers concluded she had taken part in the theft herself, even if her husband might have been the one behind it all. >> Set up. >> This time you're being under arrest. Are you serious? My daughter's competition. >> Can you leave her property with her husband? >> So, I would have something I didn't do. >> Uh, well, I mean, you did walk out of the store without paying for merchandise. >> Bags. I can pay for it, but I have money. >> Well, that that's the problem, ma'am, is that after the fact, after the crime's committed, everybody wants to uh to, you know, rethink their initial decision. >> I've missed my daughter's competition. you. >> I've never been in high. It feels so weird. >> I'm just embarrassed of my kid. >> When officers informed her of the arrest, she broke down, begging for another chance. But the decision was made. The law doesn't change just because she regretted it too late. She was charged with thirdderee grand theft for stealing over $1,100 in goods, a felony carrying up to 5 years in prison, probation, and thousands in fines. This case is a harsh reminder. Think before you act because one reckless choice can turn a simple mistake into a lifelong regret. Next, this deceitful woman still refused to be honest, even when her plan fell apart. >> I don't even know what it would be other than like a fraud type deal. >> All right, your friend you don't know the last name of. >> No, sorry. >> Man, you're a bad liar. On January 11th, 2024, police officers received a report from a Verizon wireless store about a fraudulent purchase involving a woman. When officers approached, she claimed she knew nothing. Let's see how the police figured out what really happened. >> Corn out here for like a problem with your account or something like that. Are are you is it your account that you're trying to open up a phone under? Are you trying to open up on something? >> No, I already have an account. >> Okay. >> But why am I getting called on? So, it it's something to do with the the phone being under somebody else's account that you're opening up and it's like a 20-year-old account. Do you have your ID on you? >> No. What are they talking about? >> So, who whose whose name is the account under? >> Mine. >> It's under your name. >> Yes. And this is my phone that the call got sent to I'm not they just activated him. She said, "Put them on speaker." He put on speaker. I told them I'll come back tomorrow cuz they're going to close. >> Okay. >> That's my only problem. This is my phone. I didn't call in or anything. They said allow. I clicked allow. I've been had the service for a long time. Okay. Same phone number and everything. >> Yes. >> Okay. How long have you had Verizon as your carrier? >> Like two years. >> Two years. Okay. Do you have your ID on you? >> Yes. Let me get it off. >> Or you're good. You don't have to go out there. I'll just take your name and date of birth. >> The officers immediately stopped her from going outside, suspecting the person waiting there was her accomplice. And things turned even more suspicious when she desperately tried to hide that person's identity. >> Okay. What's your last name? Tour. What's his name? >> Um John. I don't know. He's my I just met him. using a friend. >> Okay. >> Look, I just came into town for New Year's. I've been here since New Year. I'm going to go home cuz I'm just had to get I was getting my >> Okay. Where's your ID out of there? >> In the car. >> Where at? >> Um, I need a cup holder. >> She has to check the cup holder. >> You have a picture of your ID? >> No. Oh, let me look. Oh, >> do you have anything on your account that helps? Cuz I'm not getting anything back for that name. Okay. >> I'm going be honest with you. You don't look like you were born in 89. >> I mean, I'm happy everybody said it, but Oh, I don't understand. Okay. >> Didn't you Did you give them ID? >> No, I gave him my phone number and he sent a call to my phone. I literally didn't even make it far. >> I just made it to >> right now. Then I got on the phone with the credit line. She has a hold on my account. So after she sent the code to my phone, she sent the code. I allowed it. Then that was it. She hid the person outside and even hesitated with her own details. It [snorts] got shadier when she kept checking her phone as if she was contacting her partner outside. >> Okay. What's your social? >> What's up with my social? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Cuz I'm not getting a return on your name. >> So I need my social. >> Yeah. I'm not going to do anything with it, but I'm going to try to confirm your identity. >> How long have you lived at? >> Um, like two years. >> Two years. Mhm. Okay. Does anybody live there with you? >> I live with someone. >> Who Who do you live with? >> Um, my sister's sister. So, >> what's her name? >> Um, I left >> without looking at your phone. >> Something else. >> Do you have like a credit card or debit card? >> No. >> You don't have any credit card or debit card? No, I left my actually I left my cuz this purse is so small. I have like a little wallet. Well, the wallet is kind of big and it's crazy. I literally left my wallet at home. I'm like, damn, I don't got my wallet on there. >> So, how did you open the phone line? >> Cuz I already had service though. They sent the code to my phone. That's what I'm saying. This this was my issue. Like literally, when he sent the code, it said allow or deny. I allow access to my account. >> Okay. >> And that was the entire story. She tried to sell a version clearly patched together. But moments later, officers uncovered the truth and her little scam finally came to light. >> The only problem that I have is none of the story kind of makes sense. This is what's going on. Okay. Cuz he's providing a totally different name. >> Right. I was just going to say I heard like I just met him. >> So we like having to bring you to the store and stuff. >> Yeah, cuz I lost my car. My car is down. >> So I got to get around. It's cold outside. Uber is so as to keep driving around. >> All right. You good? >> I'm okay. just hang out with her for one sec. I'll be right back. Did you you heard that she gave a fake name obviously cuz I know their [ __ ] added up. So, he's got her real name. Um I'm going to talk with staff and see if there's like any money or anything like that's associated with this one female that >> like a theft you thinking? >> Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I don't even know what it will be other than like a fraud type deal, but I need to figure out if there's like been any money. So, so they were So, they were at Apple here in Woodfield and then Deer Park like hours apart today. 350. >> What names are on the receipts? >> It it doesn't say. It's just like they bought they the price here is the same thing that they're trying to do here. >> They're trying to get phones. >> Yeah. And then they sell them. >> But I'm not so sure that this vehicle like that fake on there. >> Did you check the VIN? No, not yet. So, he's saying that the vehicle comes back to his mom. But a fake name, a patched up story, and a card that didn't belong to her. All enough to charge her. And according to the officers, this was surely not her first time. >> Okay, you're under arrest. Go and pop it for me. I'm under arrest for >> attempted theft over. >> About your name? >> And line about your name. Just >> put your phone down here for me. Take your purse off. All right. [snorts] >> Pipe your hand behind your back. >> So, my assumption is that there was more stuff down up north. Okay. >> North. >> Yeah. Where the other receipts are out of. So, if that's the case, I'm sure that they're going to have cases on you as well. >> If there's other accounts and stuff that you've Not. >> Okay. >> Is this your phone, too? >> I want $300. $400. >> And you can't explain to me what you're doing while you're doing it. So, I'm just going to assume like worst case scenario, right? The phone that you said is yours. This one, excuse me, this 15 and this 10 that was in your back pocket you said is yours, which was purchased today. an apple over in Chicago, right? So, you see like how none of this makes sense. It makes sense, but we're not getting the full story, right? >> The woman was given a chance to be honest, but lies continued to pour out. She didn't even know her friend's name, yet still trusted them with her house keys. >> He wants your mom's number. Do you want him to have your house keys? >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's your relationship with him? >> My friend. >> No, for real. You can't stand it. Yeah. >> You guys live together? >> No. >> All right. Your friend you don't know the last name of? >> No. No. Sorry. >> Man, you're a bad liar. >> So, whose phone is this? Is this your phone? >> He just run in. >> Will you ask him if this is his phone? >> You want to work or talk? >> Huh? >> You want to talk to the detective? >> Talk to the detective. >> Yeah. >> Like >> about this? >> A lawyer? >> No, detective. >> The detective. Y'all got to help out. >> You want to try to help yourself out at all? Well, basically what we're going to do is we where we're at, I think you have committed identity theft, theft, fraud, possibly forgery, and then whatever happened here today. [snorts] >> So, if we talk to a detective, we can explain things. Finally, the woman was charged with forgery, possession of a fraudulent ID, obstructing identification, and attempted felony theft. Fraud with fake identities never goes unnoticed. Hesitation and lies make it easy for authorities to catch you, and blindly trusting friends can be dangerous. What do you think about cases like this? This woman was so professional in her scheme that she even had help from someone else. >> Who is Who is Kiara Willard? >> That's my teacher. >> Who is it? >> Is she the one who made the payment there? >> Um driving suspended and retail. >> On July 31st, 2024, police received a call from a woman named Carol reporting an unexpected $1,500 charge on her credit card for no reason. Around the same time, a Mercedes dealership reported a woman with a history of fraud returning to pay for services via Apple Pay. Here's what unfolded next at the scene. >> So, can you tell me what's going on? >> So, we got uh a credit card dispute for fraud fraudulent charge on Friday. >> Okay. >> For customer whose car was actually in for service, >> okay, >> as of now. >> Okay. >> Um so, I was working through that. Card owner claimed fraud, names didn't match that whole whole shebang. This morning, she paid online and it wasn't five minutes later. We got a call from a lady in North Carolina saying, "Hey, you just hit my credit card for $1,534.92 or whatever it was. I live in North Carolina, never been in Illinois, none of this jazz." So, we went looking the invoice dollar amount and the payment matched that invoice for that same client again. >> So, So she was in in June. That credit card got disputed as fraud. >> So her car Okay. So she's essentially using she's done this twice now where it's been >> the second time where it appears to be stolen credit cards. >> Credit cards to pay for service for her actual vehicle. >> Correct. Correct. It's her vehicle. Okay. >> But there the name like the one in June the name didn't match. >> Uh the one today I won't I won't see the name till it batches at night. >> Okay. >> But a lady called from North Carolina gave me phone number name. If you need anything, feel free to call me. I'll dispute it when it posts, but I got to wait till I'm posted. >> In fact, the address of the defrauded woman matched the address of the woman who had [music] called the police earlier. At this point, the dealership informed them that they only accepted cash and the suspect claimed she had already paid using her sister Skyler's card. >> I don't know. I will call her, but that don't have nothing to do with me. You know, they have her name and information. When I dwell, they know that. But they could have just told me that. You know, they calling the police and stuff. I could have here. >> I I think I think it might depend on how the car got declined. Sometimes those show up as just a decline charge like your car doesn't have money on it. And sometimes it shows up as >> You should have just said that. >> I know. But sometimes it shows up as fraud, which they won't tell you that cuz if someone's trying to defraud them, they're not going to tell you. >> Okay. >> Right. Like that's why we I take calls here all the time for these. >> Oh, really? >> But you can't like still they're still out money. So you can't take the car. We got to we got to resolve this. Otherwise, you're taking a car without paying for it. That'd be a type of service. >> Okay, so let's do this. I'm I have to get to work. So, how fast is this? >> The quickest way is going to go back there, too. Cuz what I don't want to see happen is that if you were to drive off with the car under the understanding of payment, then they start looking at this. It's like a theft of services cuz they still don't have any money. >> If they whatever they don't figure out, I will pay for it. But I'm going to need my car. This is my car. >> Okay. If you wanted to pay if you wanted to pay for the whole thing and they get square with her later, you can do that, too. That's actually probably the quickest way to get out of here. >> The police recovered documents containing all the information linked to the card she had used, including her sister and a person named Cara. From that point, multiple family identities emerged, but things didn't go as she had planned, and the officer's suspicion kept growing. >> This is a longer conversation, so we might want to go inside. I'm just being I'm being honest with you. >> I got to get some work. Why y'all can't call her? >> No, Jasmine, you're the one that's here with this. We need we need to talk. >> I don't I look I got to get to work. I'm not sitting here dealing with that. I'm not going to lie. I don't have nothing to do with this. Y'all got hurt. >> Jasmine, I'm I'm telling you right now, if you if you drive away, I promise there's going to be a criminal charge against you. >> For what? >> Because I'm looking at the documents that they have and they're showing me it's way more complicated than what you were explaining to me. >> So, let's come back. Just want to show What's your sister's name? >> We don't have that information. >> Who is Who is Cara Willard? >> That's my teacher. >> Who is it? My auntie >> is she the one who made the payment then? >> I think she was my aunt car. >> Okay, that's Does your auntie know? >> Here, let me I'm going to tell you exactly what happened. Okay, like this is just moment by moment. You come here for the service. >> You you have your sister come and pay for the card. This card gets used and then if Cara Will your auntie >> Yeah. >> she calls here and then says my card was just used here. I don't know why. Oh, she mustn't tell her. >> So, she said this is a fraudulent transaction. She called here right away. >> That's why we had to resolve it. Look, I'm telling you, there's a simple answer to this. >> To confirm the truth, the officers called Cara, and it turned out she had no idea who this supposed relative even was. >> Okay, Cara, I So, we're we're here at the dealership. The car was used for someone that was actually picking up a vehicle. Do you know anyone in Illinois at all? >> I No, I don't know anybody. And it's so it's kind of weird. Apple cards don't have Apple. So So [cough and clears throat] like you have a physical card. It doesn't have a card number on it or anything. And you have to have like that person's access to their Apple ID and everything. So it's kind of weird that the charge is used in person and not online. >> Well, it was it it was an online purchase, but it was someone who was making their payment online. and they said that a family member was making a payment. That's why that's why I'm trying to put all this together. >> Oh, yeah. Someone would have had to have got my online my virtual tour through Apple. They would have had to get that information cuz I haven't made a purchase on that caller in a little while. >> All right, Cara. So, it sounds like you're going to probably obviously you need to make the report with your local department as well if you needed to, but you're kind of involved in this police report too at the same time right now. How do you spell your last name? And also they um because I had to reset my Apple ID, all of my information, Apple made me and they um >> so they also changed my card number and everything because of all this just so it's not used again. >> So it became clear that Cara had nothing to do with the suspect. And as time went on, the woman's story collapsed under its own contradictions, especially when she started mixing up the very names she had invented. Okay. Your sister, where is she at right now? >> She lives in Quincy. >> Okay. Is this her? Is this her driver's license? >> Okay. How come there's no record of that? >> I I ran this driver's license. There's no record on her license at all. I can't You can't even find a name. Well, look, you're driving her car >> because this is the way it involves you, too. So, Okay. And how do you And you pay her. >> No, I don't pay her. I have like a app that I pay through the kernel like five something a month. >> Where's Where's Where's Cara live? >> Who? >> Where's Cara? Kira, that's her answer. I don't know. She just I called her in front of the other officer. I >> I think I think we might be having some crosswives cuz I don't think who I talked to on the phone that reported their car is >> And that's what I'm saying. I think she lying to me. >> Who? >> Skyler. Because I asked her like, "So when I send you the money, who car did you use? Yours or your boyfriend?" Or, "What did you do? Skylar, don't lie to me cuz the police is here looking at me like I'm crazy." >> You're in the hot seat right now. >> And I'm in the hospital. Yeah. And you don't And I'm grown. Don't lie to me about nothing cuz it's not that serious. She like, "I I swear I use TTK blah blah." So I said, "So why are they saying that it's a lie?" Like I said, I can come pay that Friday, but y'all going to have to do that other >> At this point, the officers told her to call the sister she claimed was named Skyler. And that phone call only raised more red flags. The hesitant voice, the awkward pauses, and the shaky statements from the person on the other end all deepened the suspicion. >> Hi, >> Skyler. What is going on? Cuz they trying to say that >> let's look here. You You're on speaker phone with the police right now. Neighborville police. Is this Skyler? >> Yes. >> Skyler, what's your last name? >> What's going on? >> Skyler, what's your last name? >> Girl, tell me my last name. >> Johnson, how do you spell it? >> J O H N S O. >> Okay. Skyler, is it S K L A R? >> Yes. sister's here at the car dealership cuz she was trying to pick up a car. She is here because you told her that it was getting paid for it. Right, Jasmine? >> Yeah, she did. >> And the payment was then called in by somebody else saying that my card was used here and that person doesn't live in this state. So, right now your sister's sitting in the hot seat for this and she's pointing to you. >> So, what did you do? Did you What? What? What is it that you did? Just you want me to take y'all speaker? >> My boyfriend gave I was my boyfriend card. I don't know. I What's the problem? >> What's What's your boyfriend's name? >> Skyler, I don't have time for this. You about to have me in trouble for some stuff you did. I sent you the 750 and I trusted you with my money. If I knew you was going to do some crazy stuff, I wouldn't even did all that. So, just tell what's going on. Just Just say it. I mean, I I don't You got me looking crazy. I don't have time for this. So, what did you do? Who car did you use? >> I'm telling you, I use my boyfriend card. >> You didn't use your boyfriend's card, >> Skyler. Skyler, you didn't use your boyfriend's card.
