There's really no other role in the city that demands the amount of complexity. We're going to be sending you to complex situations that don't necessarily have a clean answer. And that is hard because we are problem solvers. We get into this profession to make a difference. That will support the Constitution of the United States. There is a higher degree of accountability with the authority that comes with this position. We will be challenging you that, the community will be challenging you in that, and that is why Portland Police Bureau is one of the finest agencies in the country because those expectations are high. This job is going to ask a lot and it's going to take a lot. We hired you because we saw something in you that we wanted. We deeply desire to see you keep that. Is it going to be difficult? Yes.
