BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> I HAVE ASTHMA AND I stop fighting. I just dropped off your >> Stop ACTING LIKE THIS. >> I DON'T HAVE TO. I HAVE THE right to. I CAN'T AGREE. YOU JUST SIT ON ME. BOTH OF YOU WITH YOUR FOOT ON MY NECK. >> I NEED YOU to turn around. >> I eat every day. I eat every day, but I do have a family to support. >> I want to know who the he put me on this system. Get me on this system for 4 years and took me out of my career. Who is doing this? My mom resisting mom. >> Your mom. >> In their recklessness, shoplifterss often treated cameras like mere decorations, casually picking items without pretending to pay. But those decorations ended up shocking them when they realized what had been recorded. These are the moments when shoplifterss panicked after being caught on camera. Welcome to This is Law, a channel that takes you inside real encounters with law enforcement. Like and subscribe to support us for more videos to come. Starting with this unfortunate woman, her story ended the moment she chose to cover for a crime. >> This, for lack of a better term, a-holes PlayStation for him after he abandoned you. And I do feel for you. I really do. I'm not just saying that. >> On April 8th, 2025, officers were dispatched to Walmart after reports of three suspects hitting the store. The couple behind the thefts fled, leaving the woman alone. When police arrived, they told her straight up she'd fallen into trouble that was anything but good. >> So, I I called um my sergeant of the detectives and I explained the situation, okay? Not the theft issue, the other issues that you're currently being stuck in the middle of. Okay? I at least wanted him to be in the loops. That way, we can start trying to help you any way we can. Okay? The theft issue that we're talking about is something that you're going to have to deal with as an individual. Okay? But I'm going to work with you as much as I can on everything and um we're going to try to figure out what this dude's deal is. Okay. >> My friends, we're heading here to get um I don't know if they're here or not. >> Okay. >> They were on my phone, >> but I didn't know if they showed up or not. >> I have no idea. >> I worried they leave me, get ready if I get to go home or >> Okay. >> Whatever. I wait like four or five hours. >> Okay. What I'm going to tell you is you are going to jail for the theft. Okay? I will let you reach out to your friends and let them know so they're not worried sick about you and you don't have to waste a jail phone call on reaching out to them. Okay. That way you can call somebody that can either help you or an attorney or something like that. Okay. Okay. She had followed the couple through their shoplifting spree, knowing it was wrong and never stopping them. and realizing their actions would drag her into the mess, she started to worry. Do >> you know what my bail will be? >> With you being an out oftowner, bail is going to be 5,000. They're 10%. Cuz the theft is a misdemeanor to the first degree and the bonds are standard. Okay. Now, that being said, it's Tuesday. They just had initial appearances in court today. They might be able to get you in sooner. So, you might get your bond lowered or something like that. It's up to the judge. I'm not going to charge you with having the math bubble. You're very honest and forthcoming on that. But hey, bro, I'm going be honest with you. It it's comes down surely to the dollar amount. If somebody comes in here and steals >> 50 bucks worth of food or something, they get a summon and they got to go to court. We're talking it wind up being $800 I'm sorry, $788.32 is is what the value is for pre-tax on all this stuff. That's a lot of money. A lot of money. And Amber, I wish you would have called. If you felt like somebody forced you to come in here and take a PlayStation 5, this would have been a significantly different conversation if you called the police and said, "This is what happened to me. I'm abandoned here. I need help." And then this conversation would very likely be so different. The police knew she had fallen into a victim-like situation, but what made everything unclear was the woman herself. Everything was explained clearly through the officer's statements. But instead, you held on to this, for lack of a better term, a-hole's PlayStation for him after he abandoned you. >> And we we would have never known who you were. You would have left here and we would have tried to figure out who you were on this video. And maybe we did, maybe we didn't. Maybe you would have had a warrant in a month. I don't know. But instead, you you didn't call. You sat and waited and waited and waited. >> And I do feel for you. I really do. I'm not just saying that. But you got yourself in a heck of a spot here. Now, Patrolman Fe, I don't know if he explained to you when he talked to you in my back seat. One of the things that he specializes in is human trafficking. I know that you're saying that the answer is no. And I'm going to be honest with you, I don't 100% believe you. I think this Christopher patrol guy is doing something like that, at least similar to you. And what I would encourage you to do is think really hard on it. And if there's something you want to talk more about, ask for Fe. He has the resources and the knowhow to help you get out of that. Okay. Okay. >> With the mindset that she was also committing a crime, she held on to the items the fleeing thieves had taken, landing herself in trouble. But now calmer, she helped the officers identify the couple who had left her behind. >> What kind of car was it again? >> Blue Honda CRV, I think. >> Okay. And it's going to be the blue Honda CRV. We were able to confirm with Mr. previous thefts. That looks more like a Ford Escape. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> You guys saw, >> right? You see the front of it says CRV on it. >> Yep. That's an old CRV. I was like, is that a GMC Jimmy? It's about the same range that everything was >> 25 to 13. We have the video of the vehicle. It's going to be late 90s, early 2000's model. Dark blue in color. Do you have any idea how many packs of cars he took? No. Is it >> a lot? 25. What was your girlfriend's name? >> The girlfriend and the vehicle is registered to a Okay. Heat. Four. >> How many? >> Four of them. I think those are like $30 a pop. Yeah, they might be $60 boxes. >> At this point, she couldn't escape the mistakes she had made. The officer stood by their original decision. She would still face the consequences and learn her lesson. Thank you guys for Can you get a description? Have >> you ever actually seen? >> Yes. She's kind of like my build. >> She got really long curly hair. >> Okay. >> Um about how old is >> um I think she's about 30, 32 maybe. >> Okay. >> She's a little bit older than Chris. A little bit younger than me. >> Okay. 13's going to be a similar build as my 21 with long curly hair. early 30s. >> No. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Even when caught up in a bigger scheme, trying to cover for others only drags oneself deeper into trouble. The key lesson, owning up to one's actions sooner can prevent small mistakes from turning into serious consequences. Worse still, this thief ended up in jail simply because she was fed up with the benefit system >> because of this. Just bring me homeless. Take me out of my career for this. No. Take me out the system. You know what? You fat [ __ ] Did I ask you something? DID I ASK YOU SOMETHING? Stick a dick in your mouth. On October 10th, 2023, police responded to an ongoing shoplifting at Walmart involving a woman with a child. She casually pushed her fully loaded cart through the store, completely unaware she was being watched by store staff and police. >> How long she already been in the store? >> I watched her at 7:40 with her stuff full, her full and stuff now. So, she was walking towards the front when I called y'all. I'm going to stop you there now. It's already making noise. >> No, y'all people going to go stop her. >> Uhuh. Look. Look. Go ahead. You catch ahead. Just as the cameras showed, she was stopped by store security but tried to push through. Yet the police ensured her attempt would not go unchallenged. >> Don't worry, you can go right in here. You can step inside. >> Step inside. >> Let these people know I'm leaving. >> No. Step inside. >> No. No. No. Don't touch nothing. >> Miss, you have any weapons on you? All right. I need you to turn around. >> I eat every day. I eat every day, but I do have a family to support. >> Okay, miss. You can put the chips down. >> All right. I do. I'm going do what? >> Put the chips down for me. >> Appreciate it. >> All right. You turn around. It's going to search you. You spread your feet apart. Spread your feet apart. It seems she still believed she was in the right, even munching on unpaid snacks right in front of the police. And indeed, she reacted with tense, defiant words to every accusation. >> Who's the problem? >> You're shoplifting, man. I'm not >> not shoplifting. >> So, what's that stuff? >> They come and they pay for my stuff. They've been doing it. >> Have a seat for me. >> You got to show you don't know what's going on. You all know what's going on with Snip. >> Have a seat for me. They pay for my stuff. >> Have a seat for me. >> It pisses me off. You You try to act like you don't know what's going on in here. You people come and they pay for my stuff. Elliot, what you do? Set people up on their system to do this. This is not right. When you put me on the system, what you on the system for? Well, I want to know. Can you tell me that? Can you tell me why I'm on the system? Please, can you please tell me why I'm on this system? Everything in that bag is not theirs. >> You know, it's ours. So, you ain't >> Okay. I was just telling you. >> Watch me for a whole hour. day. You got to take me off this system cuz this is not fair to me and my family. Take me off this system. I can't work. I can't do anything on this system. Don't want to be off this system. >> The woman possessed a system that granted her certain benefits, but the reason she committed the theft is unclear. Though she certainly completely despised the system that gave her those benefits. F. >> You take me out the system, I'd go to work. fill an application today. But you have to take me on this system. The system drives me nuts. Now take me out the system AND I GO BACK TO WORK. I JUST DRIVE A GODDAMN TANKER TRUCK, A TRUCK DRIVER, and I can show you my ID. I want to go back to work. You took me out the system. You took me out of the system AND THEN YOU RUINED MY CAREER and you made me homeless and I want to go back to work. You done what you did for me and my family. Now you getting messed up and I I go back to work and this is it. This system has been me for the past 4 years. I'm sick of it cuz this not going to work. You're not going to use me like this. I have 12y old that I have to see about you're not going to pay me for my life like this anymore. For the past 40 years, I've been going through this mess. I'm tired of it. >> The woman completely used everyone around her as outlets for her frustration. Even when no one truly listened or tried to calm her, she kept talking about the system she herself had put herself into. >> Ma'am, chill out. >> Who took me out the truck? That's all I want to know. Did you do it? >> Ma'am, chill out. >> Did you do it? Is what I'm asking. >> Have we ever met a question? >> No, we ain't never met. >> A question. So sit down and chill out. >> I'm already sick. Don't act like I'm not sick. >> Now I have to chill out. >> Okay, you understand? I'm sick, so don't act like I'm not sick. >> Okay, now you stay where you are and I'm going stay where I am. AND THAT'S THE AGREEMENT. BUT I WANT TO know who took and out my trunk and put me in this goddamn system. >> Okay, now sit down and be quiet. Okay. >> Why do you keep telling me to sit down >> and be quiet? >> Why do you keep telling ME TO SIT DOWN >> WHEN I'M SITTING DOWN? [ __ ] KEEP TELLING ME THAT YOU WANT TO COME OVER HERE >> and be quiet. I'm asking you a question. DID YOU TAKE ME OUT MY TRUCK? >> MA'AM, you continue like this, this ain't going to be just a written piece of paper. >> I'm going tell you what, if you continue to talk to me and you lying to me, talking about sit down and everybody can see that I'm sitting down, your ass is going to be grass. Now, I bet you that you got me set up on this system. That's what she's done. Who are you? Turn around and look at your face. Turn around. Turn around. I want to see your face. In reality, she was talking only to herself about her own problems with no justification left for her wrongdoing. The police made their move, but it was far from easy. >> Set me up for this. >> Let me get this on. >> Oh, this goddamn system. >> THIS IS WHAT PISSING me off. I want to know who the [ __ ] keep put me on this system. Keep me on this system for 4 years and took me out of my career. WHO IS DOING THIS? >> Hold on one second. Let me just do this real quick. My goddamn 12-year-old suffering from this stupid ass is dumb. All right, you can have a seat. >> This is THE DUMBEST I' EVER SEEN IN MY GODDAMN LIFE. I tell you what, just shoot me cuz I'm not I'm not I'm not I don't really care no more. I really don't. I know I'm not. Just go ahead and shoot. >> No, I'm not. No, I'm not. Ma'am, have a seat. I'm not going to hurt you. She faking. She good. >> Ma'am, come on and get on up. >> Ma'am, get on up. Get on the bus right now. >> You got a little warrant for a gun to appear. IT'S NOT EVEN >> I'M NOT LIVING LIKE THIS. NO GODDAMN LAW. >> SO SO WHAT YOU >> SO DO WHAT the you got to do. >> We going to take you to jail. That's what we're doing. >> Well, you know, I don't have a reason to go to jail cuz I don't have a [ __ ] WARRANT. YOU RUIN MY GODDAMN LIFE. AND IT TURNED OUT HER resentment didn't stop at the system she mentioned. She even directed it at those around her, unleashing a torrent of insults toward the police. >> I will. And what you going to do? >> Well, she will help you if you calm down. >> You know what, you fat [ __ ] Did I ask you something? DID I ASK YOU SOMETHING? Stick a dick in your mouth. I'm good on that. >> Yeah, I know YOU ARE. YOU'RE VERY good on it cuz that's what you do. I've never tried. >> Yes, you have. You've been doing it all your goddamn life. Godamn child molester. >> Get me off this goddamn floor. >> Ma'am, put your feet up under you. >> There you go. All right. >> Now, where the [ __ ] is the woman from? >> S cuz it came back. Where is it from? >> Is it from where? To from where? >> Right in the front. >> From where? >> Where is it from? >> The cab most likely, man. >> No, it's not cuz I don't have anything at the cab. Everything in the cab is clear. Okay, man. >> Everything in the cab is clear. I know that for a fact. >> Okay, let's go. >> Everything in the cab is clear. You just trying to find something. >> She going to search. >> Uh, she search her again real quick just to make sure. Make sure she ain't got nothing in them. >> Take these goddamn handcuffs. I'll fix them. Well, just him or do something cuz this [ __ ] hurt. >> The woman was charged with theft by shoplifting. Ignoring the law and taking out anger on others only makes things worse. Failing to control emotions and choosing to steal led to serious legal consequences for herself. Next up, meet these mean girls for whom stealing had basically become a habit. >> Want to the video? No. We don't go to Wellington. We got pictures of you guys there. >> Okay. No. Yeah. I want to see I don't go to the mall. >> On May 30th, 2024, the police received a report from a store about a theft that had occurred. The suspects were said to be three women who took merchandise and walked out without paying. All three quickly escaped before officers arrived. See how the employee detailed the incident. >> Um, I couldn't recall much. Um, I know two walked out together and they ran in that direction. >> Okay. Okay. Did they get in a car or would they possibly be on foot somewhere? >> Um I think they got in a car. I just couldn't see what the car looked like. Is it back over there? >> Okay. And then that's all you saw? What did What did they in their hands? >> There was a third girl that came out after the first two. They each had a basket full of stuff. >> Okay. And what did the third girl do? >> Um she was kind of just walking. The other two ran and then she picked it up once she hit the parking lot. >> It was three females. >> Three females this time. >> Okay. >> Um Africanamean ones on the heavier set side had like red hair, like red short. >> That's one of them. >> Mhm. >> So this one I'm sorry. The one right there with a basket and then the other two are about to walk out right now. This one has a basket. Two. And then there's one more big one. >> Yeah, that's amazing. They just the baskets are knocked right out, huh? >> They Yeah. And three. She's just shockingly hopeful. So, >> we're probably looking at 2,000 or more. And this one, I'm pretty sure she changed her hair, but she was here 4 days ago cuz she >> All the suspects have been identified through the cameras, and it is clear this was a planned theft. According to the footage, all three entered the store together, then split up to carry out their actions. One suspect simply grabbed whatever items she could from the shelves, while another carefully examined products before taking them. Throughout the process, they were very cautious, constantly looking around to see if they were being watched. After completing their actions, they exited the store one by one, pretending to ignore the warnings from the anti- theft sensors. On June 18th, the police coincidentally encountered the suspects again when they stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation. Let's see what happened next. >> Hello, Agent Charlotte County Sheriff's Office where I pulled you over because we tagged us and come back to anything. Do you have a license, registration insurance? The title got the title. What's your What's your name? Can you step by the car for me? Put the car in park. Bring it back. Briana. Another one, too. >> What's your name, young lady? >> Huh? >> Caitlyn. >> Caitlyn, do you have your license on you? And so do you. >> Oh, no. I don't have license. >> You don't have license. Do you have an ID card? Damn, >> I just I just switched persons, so >> Okay, it's all right. >> Let me see. No, I don't even have it. >> You know, they just took the car yesterday. We just got out the pound and everything like And they never said that. That's so weird. >> Oh, why' they take the car? What happened? >> Our headlight was out. >> They took your car cuz your headlight was out. >> Yes, that's it. They didn't They pulled us from the front. >> Okay. yours. Thank you. >> The women appeared to cooperate at first, but everything increasingly revealed their criminal sophistication as the police realized that the names they provided were not entirely accurate. >> If y'all already gave me your name, why they ask me for y'all names? >> She gave me a wrong name. >> So what? That's the name she gave you. I don't know. I'm not going to give y'all. >> We're just We're just asking questions. >> Okay. Is that against Is that a law though? Do I have to tell y'all their name? You don't have to. >> Okay. Thank you. That's all. >> I got it. It's a different name. It's not the same. That's Italian. That's the other. >> Yeah. Or the other thing. >> I didn't know what I was getting. Like, didn't they say that's a real tag? >> What you living on the 358? >> That is a real tag. How you got to call that man 358? It's in my phone, but my phone did. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Call AJ. Call AJ. >> As soon as the suspects were settled, the police raised their questions about the theft that had occurred. But given their professionalism, admitting to it was certainly not easy for them. >> Detective, the reason why you guys are in handcuffs, you guys know the reason why you're in handcuffs? >> Not at Single Guest? >> No. >> You guys do anything recently at the mall? take any take any merchandise. >> We don't go to the mall. >> Got you all on video and everything. That's why you guys are in handcuffs. So, the detective wants to know if you want to >> speak your words or no. >> Where the detective at? >> What mall? Yeah. What mall? >> Wellington. Wellington Green Mall. >> HELL NO. NO. I WANT TO the video. No, we don't go to Wellington Mall. >> We got pictures of you guys there. >> Okay. No. Yeah. I want to see I don't go to the mall. >> No. Can I get some money? They say we going to jail. You can't when you bring it with you, they're going to take they're going to take a portion of that. >> So have have her belly out with the money so you don't get charged. >> Okay. Yeah. You >> know what I mean? >> Can I get her personal? >> You're going to get You're going to get a whole car. >> Yeah, you're getting a whole car. >> Friend, my password is my phone. You see my phone in there? >> It's in there. No, in here. >> You didn't see it? Not only did they refuse to admit anything, but the women didn't care at all about the situation. Even at that moment, they casually fixed each other's hair and makeup despite being handcuffed. >> But at this point, it's not it's not in my hand. I'll give you something. I can just do what I'm supposed to do. These y'all know I'm trustworthy. >> Huh? >> So, that's great. And where are y'all taking her? What about her? >> Gun Club. >> Okay. But she's good other than no warrants. We we Gucci. >> Wow. Which one had the warrant? >> Who had a warrant? I did. >> Who had the warrants? >> Who she had a warrant for? I just called my PO. >> Who are you with at the >> I never go there. What you talking about? >> You got to get one, two, three. >> Matter of fact, where is You didn't get my card. Oh, >> the warrant are like probation. I got to check. >> Yeah. Was it me? >> No, >> I know. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> And I got it out the next day. >> 800 >> 500, right? >> 600. >> God damn. >> Yeah, cuz the people who I got the car from, they was being nasty talking about something old. To take my time out, that's why I signed my name on the title now >> because they was like, "Oh, to take my time out to come get it, you got to pay me." So, I paid him 200. is moving and I paid no. >> Oh, I forgot it. My stuff in the background. Okay. >> In the end, one suspect received a suspended sentence and the other two were charged with retail theft. Crime might feel easy in the moment, but every careless choice eventually circles back and the consequences always hit harder than expected. In the next case, meet a woman struggling TO BREATHE. >> I [screaming] HAVE ASTHMA AND I stop breathing. >> I can't breathe. What the [ __ ] I can't breathe. On October 31st, 2023, police received a report about a woman caught stealing and rushing to load the goods into her vehicle. When officers arrived, the scene had already exploded into chaos as she instantly fought back against law enforcement. >> 16 is doing back now. >> Okay, I will do that. >> Get on the ground now. I don't HAVE THIS ON THE GROUND. >> On the ground. Put your hands behind YOUR BACK. >> YOU DON'T HAVE TO. NO. >> HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. DO IT NOW. >> WHERE ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO HAVE? >> HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> I HAVE ASTHMA AND I stop breathe. But can you listen me? >> I DON'T [screaming] I HAVE TASTE. >> CAN YOU PUSH? Can you put me up so I can breathe, please? >> I put your hand on your back now. Let go. >> Okay. >> Put your hand on your back. >> I can't breathe. I can't I can't stop. >> Quit picking me. I can't breathe. I can't I can't >> stand up. >> I NEED I NEED MY WHAT THE >> Like seriously, what? >> Put your feet outside. Stand up. Whether her claim of not being able to breathe was real or just an excuse became doubtful because once she was escorted away, she still had plenty of breath to throw out complaints that made the officer's job even harder. >> Put my shoes on. >> Stop. >> I'm putting my mother shoes off. >> Stop. >> Y'all tweaking. >> Stop. >> Why is YOU HOLDING MY ARMS LIKE THAT? >> You overdoing your [ __ ] Oh, >> you said you were stealing. [ __ ] You need you need it. YOU CAME TO ME SUCH A big ass. >> Okay, you don't have to. I JUST TOLD Y'ALL YOU GOT ASSES. Y'all pissing me off. >> That's fine. Quit freaking moving around. >> I can't wait. What the You mean stop moving around? I can't. >> I hope y'all RECORDED EVERYTHING THAT Y'ALL JUST DID TO ME, TOO. I'M GOING TO CLIMB these around. Take the cover. >> Now you got stuff in here. What? >> It don't matter what's in there. >> Well, it does matter. >> It don't cuz I don't even have the right to I CANNOT BREATHE. SO WHY THE ARE YOU DOING THAT? >> STOP. >> She showed absolutely no sign of admitting fault. Even after her actions had escalated everything to this [music] point, she still believed she was in the right and refused to follow any command the officers gave her. trying to take this off you. >> Okay, we'll take you off then. Damn, y'all sitting here doing the M. I just dropped off. >> STOP ACTING LIKE THIS. >> I DON'T HAVE TO. THE I HAVE TO FIGHT YOU. I CAN'T BREATHE. Y'ALL JUST SIT ON ME. BOTH OF Y'ALL WITH YOUR FOOT ON MY NECK. >> Nobody had any foot on your neck. >> You did the I don't do that. >> You can't even breathe. What the Can I move my arm so I could open my chest case for me to breathe? You can't anymore. >> You're >> No, I'm not. >> Can't put my arms open so I CAN BREATHE. I CANNOT BREATHE. >> Quit yelling. >> I can't. >> Yes, you can. >> Holding my ARM WHILE WE'RE OVER THERE TRYING TO SHAKE YOUR MIND. >> Damn 16. Need another car this way. >> 15. She confidently threw out unreasonable demands at the officers, [music] acting as if her so-called rights outweighed everything. Even while she was the one committing a crime, she refused to calm down or handle the situation in any rational way. >> You going to settle down now? >> Yes. Can I breathe? Damn. >> Settle down inside of you here. She got stuff all over her. Stupid. Act like this. >> I can't breathe. You did. You dead. I did not have to do that. >> Quit acting like that. >> Talking about quit acting like that. >> Quit acting like that. Grow up. Yeah. I got this uncut from her. So, need you to grab it while we take her. >> We picked the biggest son of a bug. Hold on. I got her. She going nowhere. >> I'm not trying to get trying to hold. >> Relax. Relax. Relax. >> No, I'm not holding you tight at all, honey. I can barely get pressure on you. >> Tight as damn leg. >> Relax. Relax. >> No one had anything on your freaking neck. >> Relax on me. >> Relax. >> Well, why did you run? >> I did not run. >> She's got inside of her like on inside of her coat. >> Inside her coat. All right. What you got inside your coat, Ronnie? >> Stand up. >> Okay, I'm going to move you. You don't move too much. >> She got like [ __ ] on inside her coat. Yeah. >> Yes. >> Thing you called. You got to pay for stuff. >> Okay. >> Shit's expensive. >> We have search. Right after that, officers confirmed that all the stolen items were inside her bag, and some were even tossed across the parking lot the moment she saw the officers approaching. Plenty more Can you keep it over there? >> I will. >> Yeah, it's way under there. >> Probably not. >> Yeah, man. You should know her. You arrested her a couple weeks ago for what? Aggravated battery. So, what you're saying is she's out on bond right now. So, she just violated bond. Okay. You arrested her a couple weeks ago on the 26th of September. >> Oh, >> Yep. >> Yeah. We were fighting people up there. >> Wow. Shock. >> I looked it up. I ran her name. >> So, she violated bond. >> All right. She was charged with retail theft and resisting a peace officer. Refusing to take responsibility [music] and defying authority only escalates consequences. Cooperating calmly even when caught prevents harm, legal trouble, and further chaos. Next, the woman even regressed [music] like a child when caught. >> My mom's a captain of the police. >> Mom. Mom. Mom. >> Sit up. Be an adult. >> Be an adult and sit up. >> Come on. We'll help you up. On April 8th, 2024, officers were dispatched to Walmart after reports that a woman had quietly stolen merchandise while her unsuspecting husband stood by. When police arrived, the cameras had already laid everything bare. Every slick, deceitful scan caught in perfect detail. >> So, the the amount missed was 4363 without the tax. So, this item right here that's right on top of that other item never gets scanned. She just kind of holds it over. It scans the bottom items and places it right here for him to bag. Uh I don't think he realized what all was going on. Um and I he went to go get the kids. He had to pick up the kids. That's why he's not here. >> Does it happen that way on every item? >> Not every item. Like for this one right here, they have six of them. They only ring up three. Now she says it's because they were stuck together and they don't know that you can pull them apart. But let me fast forward it to the end cuz this is the most obvious one. She has it stacked up on top of it and she's gonna take the the hand scanner and only scan the top item before passing both items across. >> Is her ID? >> Yes. >> So, she scans everything, then places it here for him to bag. But with this, she'll scan that, but then just have that chilling right there for him to bag it. >> I see. Oh, >> at this point, officers also approached the woman sitting nearby. And even after hearing everything the investigation had uncovered, she still showed cooperation, only with obvious reluctance. Can you put the phone down for me, please? So we can ask you some questions. >> They're both here. >> Yes or no? >> You want to put the phone down? >> Okay. Well, hold on cuz they're yelling at me now. >> Okay. >> What is your name? >> Amber. >> You have a Florida deal? >> I'm sorry. >> Do you have a Florida driver's license? >> Yes, I do. >> Where is that? >> I don't know. >> Lose attitude. Okay. >> You have one, too. With all due respect, I didn't do nothing wrong. I didn't say nothing to you. >> What is your last name? >> You have an attitude. >> What is your last name? >> Spell it. Okay. This deputy is the deputy in the case and he says you need to stay off the phone. So listen to him. Thank you. >> A cucumber, a onion, and a tomato. >> Uh she just takes it from the doctor, >> right? The white onion and then the cilantro gets scanned, but then the other stuff in there, she never even bothers to take it out. >> I just need to see the uh when you stop her. >> Oh, when we stop. >> Yeah. Yeah. Which entrance? >> It was right out here. >> Her attempts to contact her family only threatened to make everything spiral further out of control. So officers stepped in to shut it down and what followed exploded into complete chaos. >> All right. I tried to be nice. I told you to get off the phone. >> My mom's a captain of the police. Mom. Mom. Mom. Get on the ground. >> I'm not even MOM. MOM. MOM. [screaming] MOM. MOM. I'm not Mom. MOM, call the lawyers. >> Get back in here, please. >> I'm not even DOING ANYTHING. >> STOP RESISTING AND PUT YOUR ARM BEHIND YOUR BACK NOW. >> THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING ON THE PHONE UNTIL I'm under arrest. >> You're going to get a resistance charge. Do you understand me? >> I'm literally laying here not doing anything. >> Put your arm behind your back. >> Not fighting. >> 97. I'm trying to get back in the door. >> Come on. >> Put your hand drop. Move your hand. >> Mom, I'm not resisting. Mom. Mom. You guys are both on top of me. I weigh 130 pounds. >> Mom, mom. [screaming] Mom. >> MOM, PLEASE TELL JAMES TO GO JOHNNY. This one is way too tight. cutting off my circulation. >> The adult woman desperately called her mother, showing no responsibility for her own actions while lying there in front of all the stolen merchandise. All >> right, relax. Relax. >> No, I can't sit up. Please let me lay down. I feel >> sit up. Be an adult. >> Be an adult and sit up. >> Come on. We'll help you up. >> You really going to do this? You're going to master. >> You're going to Okay. >> I don't need any am. >> Do you want to sit up like an adult now? >> See, I can't. I can't. >> You can't sit up. >> Okay. All you got to do is get off the phone. All right. >> I'm going to have ambulance coming. >> No, I don't. I'm refusing. You can't put me on ambulance if I refuse. That's >> I just need to get her up. >> No, I can't get up right now. I need a lady right now. She's like, I don't want ambulance. >> Well, I mean, I was just going to come check her out. [clears throat] >> This is all because she wouldn't go. >> Okay. >> You want to try sitting up now? >> I don't I don't know if I'm dead. >> We're going to help you. >> How old are you? >> 30. >> 30? >> Yes. Yes. >> Ready? One, two, three. >> Officers struggled to manage the woman, and it turned out there was a reason behind her insistence on calling her parents. >> My parents, >> the captains of the police for 30 years. God, >> did you get all her info on that Christmas? >> No, because there was no record found for that name. So, >> all right. Do you have a floor deal or ID card? cuz she's indicating that's not coming back. >> That's what I just said under that name. >> If you call my husband, he has everything. >> Why would I? You're an adult, lady. >> I I got in trouble for that. There's nothing I could do. He has my medication. >> Are you 15? Why would I call your >> Oh, then I can't prove anything to you. >> Where's your >> Okay, so you want to risk giving me false information. Have free charges today. If you charge me for false information, then you do >> I can't validate what you're telling me, ma'am. >> I'm trying to give you an opportunity. >> What would you like me to do about that? >> I would like you to explain why she can't find your Florida deal. >> Or I'm going to charge you under the name that you've given me. If that's wrong, that's going to be additional charge. >> I don't know what to tell you. I came to DMV. I got an ID. >> You don't have any drugs or anything in your bra or your underwear? >> No. >> All right. 4363 was the amount, right? 4363. Why do all yours work out fine? >> I do one for this this guy. >> And it's freaking the New Yorker that thinks this is in New York. >> What's your occupation? >> I'm a waitress. >> Are you a veteran? Okay. >> Immediately after escorting the woman to the patrol car, officers encountered her parents, who, judging by their reaction, showed no goodwill toward what had unfolded according to their daughter's account. >> I want to know what's going on. Okay, she's going to jail for one, shoplifting. >> Shoplifting. >> Okay, she says she missed a scam. >> Okay, there's video of it happening. Walmart wants to prosecute. She's going to jail for shoplifting. >> Shoplifting in one manner. She missed the scam. She took something to shop. >> She's going to jail for shoplifting. >> She's also She's also going to jail for resisting. She was fighting this deputy all because she wouldn't get off her phone. She was asked to multiple times. Would not get off. >> I was on the phone with her. >> I know. Then she acted as though she was having a We had EMS come check her out. She said, "I don't need an ambulance. I don't want to go to the hospital. This is stupid. I don't know why you guys had them come here." They checked her out. All her levels are good, blood sugar, everything that she could have possibly complained of. So, would you like to come inside to get her belongings? >> Yes. >> Can we just do one person? >> One person. All right. Your name and shield number and your partner's name and shield. >> Yep. Deputy Holly 625. >> And your partner, >> Ethan Dennison. I don't know his badge number off the top of my head. Go get the horse. You guys here. You have to call me. Your guys are really green. >> Okay, let's go get the top and it's another woman ultimately charged with shoplifting and [music] resisting without violence. Even when caught in wrongdoing, trying to rely on others to fix the situation rarely helps. >> [music] >> Taking responsibility directly is always the better path. Next, the employee was terminated from her job due to her wrongful [music] actions. >> Was this $21 $200 in one penny? >> But just trying to help my dad with his medical bill. My mom with some of the house bill. >> On December 20th, 2024, police responded to a report from Home Depot regarding a cash theft. The suspect was identified as an employee of the store. At the scene, authorities noted that the loss from this incident was far from insignificant. >> So, it's a crash. It's been occurring since 21st. So, it was we had shortages at 1400, but we were only able to validate 600 because of where she was at the time on the register. >> So, she works here. >> Yeah, she works. She's she's admitted everything to our manager. >> Okay. Um, this one doesn't show up, but I'll show it to >> um the You say you have it saved? >> Yeah, I have everything saved. >> So, what is she doing? Like, what? Like, say for what is this? Like, what is she doing? >> She's basically just like taking money out of the register and just putting it on the bottom. >> Okay. >> And then she'll put it off to the side and then take it later on. >> Oh, okay. Got you. So, it's a theft. It's only 600 bucks. Well, not only cuz that's a lot, but um >> the verified amount is 600. >> The verified amount is 600, I guess. I guess the other time she was on the other registers, they don't have a paper right there. Hi. Hello. >> Um, I'm just going to get a sworn statement from you before we talk to her. What's your title? >> District asset protection manager. >> Could you tell me what happened? >> Okay, so there's cash shortages um that were uh reported to me. Um, we had exposure of 1,450, but we're only going to charge for what we have on video, which is $600. And I did the interview today and she admitted to um needing to help her family out with medical bills and she admitted to taking the money and she was sorry. And um it's anything over $100 from legal prosecutors. >> Every move and action of the employee was clearly captured on the store surveillance cameras. The staff fully understood exactly how she carried out her theft. >> So you can see the customer left. >> That's that's what she was doing. And then hides it behind. That was that was pretty blatant. >> Jesus. >> Okay. And that was the $200. >> What's this? 2001. $200 and one penny. >> But I'm sure it was just 200. Like it was 450 is what it looked like. >> Yeah. Yeah. She took them from out the bottom. >> Okay. You got the time? >> 520. >> Well, she started at >> 59 and then 520 >> and then So, so, so that's what she did. She picked it up >> and then >> got got the 50s and then threw it back or 20s or whatever the hell it is. That looks like a lot more than >> these are these are hundreds. I don't think she takes I'm sure she probably take all of that. >> Oh, those are all hundreds. >> Yeah, I think she contemplating knowing how much. No. Oh. >> Cuz it it looks to me like she's trying to count the drawer. >> Mhm. >> Someone was walking by. >> She put two. She only took out two. >> Okay. >> At that moment, the female suspect was summoned to a private room immediately after her shift. Her tense expression clearly revealed her anxiety over the situation. >> Um, >> all right. So, first what we're going to do is I just want to verify who I'm speaking with. So, what is your name and date of birth? Okay. Um I just want I'm going to come closer to you just so you can hear me. I'm going to read you your um Miranda rightites. All right. And then you stop me if you have any questions. Okay. >> So with that being said, do you have any questions on the Miranda Miranda rights? >> Okay. >> Do you understand the Miranda rights that you >> All right. >> Well, we just need to First, we got to see what what happens here and then that's something that I will have to discuss with somebody higher up than me if you're going to go to jail. All right. But the crime has been committed. Okay. Um so with that being said, you know, Home Depot gave us um these documents here. So I just need you to kind of walk me through what happened on each of these occasions that the ones that I'm going to ask you a question about. >> Do you remember most of the occasions of these happening? one in October. Um there was one in October where you kind of took um $200 $200 and1. >> All right. So, I'm just going to kind of tell you what it was. It looks like um you would place the um you know, you place bills, right? >> The suspect fully admitted to the allegations without offering any defense. She recounted all her actions with a palpable sense of guilt. I think the last time I took money was about a month ago. >> And what do you know how much you took? >> Um probably 100200. >> 100 to $200. Okay. And then how would you take it? >> Um >> obviously you didn't just go and grab it. Yeah. while doing um strip I would count it then I would take 100 out or 20 out of it. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So you're counting you're counting money and you would >> strip. >> Okay. For what you what it call >> strip. Cash strip. Okay. So you would take a bill out or two bills out of money you were counting and then what would you do? I would put it on the keyboard. Under the keyboard. >> Okay. >> And then I'll send the rest back. >> Okay. So, you take the money out, you got a keyboard, you like slide it under the keyboard, and then you put the rest of the money back into the cash tail. >> Okay. Okay. And how would you get the money from the keyboard? The woman showed genuine remorse for her actions, even shedding tears as she explained the reasons behind what she had done. >> Just trying to help my dad with his medical bill and my mom with some of the house bill. >> Okay. How old are you? >> I'm 19. Just turned 19. >> So your father has some medical issues issue. He have he had to get the surgery for pacemaker. >> Okay. And he doesn't he's not from here. So he may have a a insurance card and stuff like that. >> So you weren't you weren't keeping the money for for your personal use. [snorts] >> You you were helping >> my mom she worked 40 hours but against that and sometime it doesn't cover the whole amount for the rent. So once in a while if she doesn't have that, I will give her $200 just to cover to cover the house. >> Oh, cover the rent and the bills for the house. >> Especially I haven't gotten into a car accident, but my my other card. So the rest of the money we had to pay, I [snorts] would help her out until it was fully covered. >> That that sounds like a lot of money. Uh probably more than $500 by, you know, medical expenses. And >> I don't pay all the medical [snorts] expenses. >> With everything confirmed, the police made their decision. And she also received the final consequences from her workplace. >> Can I have my hoodie off? Yeah. Okay. >> What What locker is your stuff in? >> Okay. We're not going to fake it. >> She sees it verbally. >> Yes. I just have to let you know that you are no longer employed with the Home Depot. Okay. I'm sorry. >> He's still right. Learn from the mistake, please. >> We just have to make sure there's no weapons inside here. >> That took a lot longer than I was expecting. >> Where? >> My jacket. >> This my care about us. Well, at least we know where the LP offices now, right? >> The suspect was charged with scheme to defraud under $20,000. Her story shows that even well-intentioned actions that break the law carry serious consequences. It's a reminder that honesty and seeking proper help are always safer than taking matters into one's own hands. What do you think about cases like this? But worse, this woman was so professional in her scheme that she even had help from someone else. >> Who is who is Cara Willard? >> That's my teacher. >> Who is it? >> Is she the one who made the payment then? >> Um, driving suspended and retail. >> On July 31st, 2024, police received a call from a woman named Carol reporting an unexpected $1,500 charge on her credit card for no reason. Around the same time, a Mercedes dealership reported a woman with a history of fraud returning to pay for services via Apple Pay. Here's what unfolded next at the scene. >> So, can you tell me what's going on? >> So, we got uh a credit card dispute for fraud fraudulent charge on Friday. >> Okay. >> For customer whose car was actually in for service. >> Okay. >> As of now. >> Okay. >> Um so, I was working through that. Card owner claimed fraud. names didn't match that whole whole shebang. This morning, she paid online and it wasn't 5 minutes later, we got a call from a lady in North Carolina saying, "Hey, you just hit my credit card for $1,534.92 or whatever it was. I live in North Carolina, never been in Illinois, none of this drives." So, we went looking the invoice dollar amount and the payment matched that invoice for that same client again. So, >> so she was in in June. That credit card got disputed as fraud. >> So, her car Okay. So, she's essentially using she's done this twice now where it's been >> the second time where it's it appears to be stolen credit cards. >> Credit cards to pay for service for her actual vehicle. >> Correct. Correct. It's her vehicle. Okay. >> But there the name like the one in June, the name didn't match. >> Uh the one today I won't I won't see the name till it batches at night. >> Okay. But a lady called from North Carolina, gave me phone number, name, if you need anything, feel free to call me. I'll dispute it when it posts, but I got to wait till it posts to dispute. >> True. >> In fact, the address of the defrauded woman matched the address of the woman who had called the police earlier. At this point, the dealership informed them that they only accepted cash and the suspect claimed she had already paid using her sister Skyler's card. >> I don't know. I will call her, but that doesn't have nothing to do with me. You know, they have her name and information. When I drop it off, they know that. Well, they could have just told me that. You know, they calling the police and stuff. This I could have figured this out. >> I think I think it might depend on how the car got declined. Sometimes those show up as just a decline charge, like your car doesn't have money on it. And sometimes it shows up as >> You should have just said that. >> I know. But sometimes it shows up as fraud, which they won't tell you that cuz if someone's trying to defraud them, they're not going to tell you. >> Okay. >> Right. Like that's why we I take calls here all the time for these. >> Oh, really? >> But you can't like still they're still out money. So you can't take the car. We got to we got to resolve this. Otherwise, you're taking a car without paying for it. There'd be a service. >> Okay. So, let's do this. >> I have to get to work. So, how fast the quickest way is going to go back there, too? Cuz what I don't want to see happen is that if you were to drive off with the car under the understanding of payment, then they start looking at this. It's like a theft of services cuz they still don't have any money. >> If they whatever they don't figure out, I will pay for it, but I'm going to need my car. This is my car. >> Okay. If you wanted to pay, if you wanted to pay for the whole thing and to get square with her later, you can do that, too. That's actually probably the quickest way to get out of here. >> The police recovered documents containing all the information linked to the card she had used, including her sister and a person named Cara. From that point, multiple family identities emerged. But things didn't go as she had planned, and the officer's suspicion kept growing. >> This is a longer conversation, so we might want to go inside. >> I'm just being I'm being honest with you. I got to get to work. What? Why God can't call her? >> I know. No, Jasmine, you're the one that's here with this. We need We need to talk. >> I don't I Look, I got to get to work. I'm not sitting here dealing with that. I'm not going to lie. I don't have nothing to do with Jasmine. I'm I'm telling you right now, if you if you drive away, I promise there's going to be a criminal charge against you. >> For what? >> Because I'm looking at the documents that they have and they're showing me it's way more complicated than what you were explaining to me. >> So, let's come back. Just want to shut What's your sister's name? >> I'm We don't have that information. >> Who is who is Kiara Willard? >> That's my teacher. >> Who is it? >> My auntie. >> Is she the one who made the payment then? >> I think she used my auntie card. >> Okay. That's does your auntie know? >> Here. Let me I'm going to tell you exactly what happened. Okay. Like this is just moment by moment. You come here for the service. >> You you have your sister come and pay for the card. This card gets used. And then if Cara Will your auntie >> Yeah. She calls here and then says, "My card was just used here. I don't know why." >> Oh, she mustn't tell her. >> So, she said, "This is a fraudulent transaction." She called here right away. >> That's why we have to resolve it. Look, I'm telling you, there's a simple answer to this. >> To confirm the truth, the officers called Cara and it turned out she had no idea who the supposed relative even was. >> Okay, Cara, I So, we're we're here at the dealership. The car was used for someone that was actually picking up a vehicle. Do you know anyone in Illinois at all? >> I No, I don't know anybody. And it's so it's kind of weird. Apple cards don't have Apple. So [cough] say like you have a physical card, it doesn't have a card number on it or anything. And you have to have like that person's access to their Apple ID and everything. So it's kind of weird that the charge was used in person and not online. Well, it was it it was an online purchase, but it was someone who was making their payment online. They said that a family member was making a payment. That's why that's why I'm trying to put all this together. >> Oh, yeah. Someone would have had to got my online my virtual card through Apple. They would have had to get that information. I haven't made a purchase on that card in a little while. >> All right, Carrot. So, it sounds like you're going to probably obviously you need to make the report with your local department as well if you needed to, but you're kind of involved in this police report too at the same time right now. How do you spell your last name? >> And also they um because I had to reset my Apple ID, all of my information, Apple made me and they um so they also changed my card number and everything because of all this just so it's not used again. So, it became clear that Cara had nothing to do with the suspect. And as time went on, the woman's story collapsed under its own contradictions, especially when she started mixing up the very names she had invented. >> Bigger sisterh. >> Where is she at right now? >> She lives at Quincy. >> Okay. Is this her? Is this her driver's license? >> Okay. How come there's no record of that? >> I I ran this driver's license. There's no record on her license at all. I can't They can't even find a name. Well, look, you're driving her car. >> This is the way it involves you, too. So, okay. And how do you And you pay her? >> No, I don't pay her. I have like a app that I pay through the kernel like five something a month. >> Where's Where's Where's Cara live? >> Who? >> Where's Cara? >> Cara. That's her auntie. I don't know. She just I called her in front of the other officer. I >> think I think we might be having some crosswires cuz I don't think who I talked to on the phone that reported their car is >> And that's what I'm saying. I think she's lying to me. >> Who? >> Skyler. Skyler. >> Because I asked her like so when I said you the money, who cared you? doors or your boyfriends or what did you do Skyler? Don't lie to me cuz the police is here looking at me like I'm crazy. >> You're in the hot seat right now. >> I'm in the hot [laughter] seat. Yeah. And you don't and I'm grown. Don't lie to me about nothing cuz it's not that serious. She like I I swear I use TTK blah blah. So I said, "So why are they saying that it's a lie?" Like I said, I can come pay that Friday, but y'all going to have to do that other >> At this point, the officers told her to call the sister she claimed was named Skyler. And that phone call only raised more red flags. The hesitant voice, the awkward pauses, and the shaky statements from the person on the other end all deepen the suspicion. >> Hi, >> Skyler. What is going on? Cuz they trying to say that. >> Okay. Well, let's look here. You You're on speaker phone with the police right now. Neighborville police. Is this Skyler? >> Yes. >> Skyler, what's your last name? >> What's going on? >> Skyler, what's your last name? >> Girl, tell us my last name. Johnson. How do you spell it? >> J O H N S O N. >> Okay. Skyler. Is it S K Y L A R? >> Yes. >> Sister's here at the car dealership cuz she was trying to pick up a car. She is here because you told her that it was getting paid for it, right, Jasmine? >> Yeah, she did. And the payment was then called in by somebody else saying that my card was used here and that person doesn't live in this state. So right now your sister's sitting in the hot seat for this and she's pointing to you. >> So what did you do? Did you What What is it that you did? Just you want me to take your speaker? >> My boyfriend I use my boyfriend card. I don't know. I What's the problem? >> The problem name? What? What's your boyfriend's name? >> Skyler, I don't have time for this. You about to have me in trouble for some stuff you did. I sent you the 750 and I trusted you with my money. If I knew you was going to do some crazy stuff, I wouldn't even did all that. So, just tell what's going on. Just Just say it. I mean, I I don't You got me looking crazy. I don't have time for this. So, what did you do? Who car did you use? >> I'm telling I use my boyfriend card. You didn't use your boyfriend's card. >> Skyler, you didn't use your boyfriend's card. I know that. >> Compared with the police report, every detail, the phone number, the Apple ID, the identification she provided completely failed to match. It was obvious this call had been thrown together in a panic with no real planning behind it. This was a blatant case of using a fraudulent card to pay for vehicle services, but her stubborn denial still didn't end. The the other thing that adds into this is that none of the birth dates that you or Skyler gave to me come back to anybody. >> I never gave you >> What you mean I gave you my birthday? >> Oh, when she was No, Skyler. Skyler's birthday. >> Listen, I just like I told >> you told Skyler to give me the real birthday on the phone. You said it out loud what it was. It's the one that's on her driver's license. It was when we BOUGHT THE CAR. >> NO, I DON'T KNOW. I her birthday a couple days after mine. Look, sir, I'm not trying to give y'all no problem. What she done did with her car before it was mine. I don't know what she done did. That has nothing to do with me. I just know I paid her. I came to drop it off because I done messed up the tire or she messed it up. >> I'm just going to tell you like they are pulling every bit of financial out of here. They're pulling everything, 1500. I'm not paying for nothing else. >> We're past that. We're past that. >> So then what is it? I didn't do anything as FAR AS WHAT SHE GOT GOING ON WITH this car. THIS IS NOT MY CAR. >> I'M TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW. I'm telling you right now, if there is if there is stuff about this that is fabricated or false or whatever it is, the it's going to collapse. It's going to collapse when they get this off. >> Listen, and that's on her. You hear me? That is on completely on her. I don't my daddy last name. >> Jasmine, when I when I ran your driver's license, it shows me the last places that it ran and I saw that Will County probation ran. Are you on probation for them at all? >> Yep. >> Okay. For what? um driving on suspended and retail. >> She was finally put in handcuffs and she was charged with multiple counts of credit card fraud, identity deception, and attempting to obtain services through a stolen financial instrument. Lies only dig a deeper hole. In any financial investigation, honesty from the start is the only way to avoid harsher charges. Next, meet the woman who used her parental responsibility as a shield to storm into the bank. Ma'am, >> if I have to tell you again, I'm going to tase you. Let go of the child right now. >> Assault. >> You assault a child, you should be ashamed of yourself, but you not. You're eagle. You don't even know why you got >> On February 24th, 2024, police received a report of a woman with a concealed weapon at a bank, inspecting the premises and viewing company information. Officers rushed to the scene and what happened next escalated quickly. >> I think she's on something, man. She won't leave the bank and she just >> What's going on? What's up? >> What's your name? >> I'm I'm offic Police Department. What's going on? >> Hey, >> you can back up for me. Back up. >> What What's going on today? >> Okay, so he made a scene. >> I spoke the >> She wanted information of the facility. Want a walk through and they told her no, we can't do that. We can't give our information. >> No. The first thing I requested was proper funding. That's the first thing I requested. Then >> proper funding for what? What are you talking about? Are you questioning me about my account or my life? >> I'm I'm asking you what what what it is. You need a backup for me to stop walking towards me. >> No. No. Why are you here? >> What do you mean why am I here? >> Why are you here? >> Because I got a call here and I'm a police officer. >> What's your call here, >> ma'am? What do you guys need? You guys weren't off property. >> Yes. Please. You need to leave the property. You need to leave the property. >> Ban me. >> You need to leave the property. >> Get your daughter and leave. Ma'am, >> bam me. Please, >> ma'am. You need to leave the property. >> I can't leave without the paperwork. >> You're going to leave the property. You're going to go to jail. So, I'm telling you right now to leave the property. >> My car is right there. >> Then go that way to your vehicle and leave the property. >> Thank you. You're on fire. >> Go to that propert. Leave the property. Okay. >> You're terminated. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Leave the property. If I have to say it one more time, you're going to go in handcuffs and go to jail. Leave the property. Leave the property. >> If you do not leave right now, I'm going to put you in handcuffs and take you to jail. >> I'm not afraid of jail. >> Ma'am, go. >> I'm not afraid. You do this too much. >> Give me your ID. Give me your ID. >> I don't have >> No, you're going to give me your ID now. I have >> What's your first name? >> I'm going to my >> Well, no. But the woman's resistance only escalated the situation. Especially with her child present. >> Ma'am. No. No. No. No. Give me your identification. >> You scaring her. >> No, you're scaring her is what the problem is. >> You're too loud. >> Ma'am, what is your first and last name? Ma'am, >> if I have to tell you again, I'm going to tase you. Let go of the child right now. >> Assault. Let go. Let go. Let go. >> Give me your daughter. >> Get off of her now. Ma'am, you are hurting that child and I'm about to respond. >> Her attempts to cling to her child as if using them as a shield forced the police to intervene more aggressively to subdue her. >> Let go OF THE CHILD NOW. LET GO OF THE CHILD. >> Turn over. Why are you doing this? Turn over on your back right now. >> You're going to get tased. >> You are about to get tased. >> Turn the camera on. >> It's on. Turn over right now. You are about to get tased. Turn over on your back right now. Turn over right now. All right. Then we can sit here talking another unit. Sitting there choking a child in the parking lot like a fool. You're dead. >> I was hugging her. Get your hands off me. >> You're going to jail. Acting like a damn fool out here. >> I didn't do anything. >> You're about to get tased. >> Stop being racist. >> You're going to get tased. Turn over right now before you get tased. Turn over right now or you're going to get tased. Let go of my handcuffs. >> You You put it on me. >> Let go of my handcuffs right now. You're about to get tased. >> If you're not on your back, >> you're hurting me, >> ma'am. You're going to get tased. Let go of my handcuffs. >> I have an You're hurting me. I have a lawsuit. >> Turn over. >> You're hurting me. >> You're You're making it worse. >> You're hurting me. I have a lawsuit. >> Well, you can sit back. Get you. >> Her resistance had caused serious difficulties for both the police and herself. And the worst part was that it should never have happened in front of her own family. The officers also had to calm her down. Got any sisters and brothers? Auntie, uncle? >> I have a I have a sister. Her name is Mia. >> Mia. How's Mia? Young or older? >> She's I think she's older. >> She She's 20. >> She's in her 20s. >> She's in her 20s. >> Yeah. >> You want to know her last name? >> I don't know if last name. >> Do you know any phone numbers >> that we can call? And now she she's just sideline. I said, "Ma'am, you have to leave. You making my place uncomfortable." She starts videoing me and recording me. >> So you asked her to leave a couple times. >> I honestly four times. Then she went into the president office and sat there. Then I everybody evacuated. Then she said, "Well, baby, come on. Let's go." So she finally made it here when she saw the blue lights. That's when she made it there to the blue lights. So I was making my outer rounds with me over make sure the door is secure and when I walked back in that's when I noticed she was had a mask on and talking like she was on. So I as I left force I can't really apply any force. I'm just a security guard. That's why we on the call you are. >> As soon as the woman calmed down she explained the reason behind her actions but it could be described as quite strange and even somewhat delusional. >> I'm a sergeant. >> Oh sergeant. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Turn around. Let me get a picture of your hand. Do you need EMS? You already called EMS. I called to speak to you, Lieutenant, because your sergeants were too aggressive and they were yelling and being um violent. I didn't refuse. All I requested today was to speak to the gatekeeper on my account because I had a settlement in the amount of $18,750. I'm coming to request a 20K loan so that I can go back to Washington and speak with Congress. >> Where'd you put them? Because you got in the car with them. >> It's on your camera. I don't have them. I'm not lying. >> You're not lying? >> No. >> Okay. >> Here you go. She's not lying. But those are the keys. >> I'm not lying. >> Okay. >> You You're showing my breast in front of people. No, >> I'm not. >> Yes, you are. >> Thank you. >> Is this it? Perfect. You did a great job. >> They said EMS is taking her to the children's hospital. >> Okay. Tell her um I'm notifying the father right now or trying to. Even when they brought her to the medical center, she completely stopped pretending to be injured. In fact, she even seemed to enjoy her time there. >> Nobody not go wrong for y'all. Y'all don't scare me. You know why I'm crying? Because I love y'all. Sit down. >> Sit down. >> Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. >> Just sit down. >> Hurt me more. >> Stop going to do nothing to you. Just relax. >> Look at me like you hate me. pretty sat down. My back is hurting from sitting like that. I don't even >> I don't even lay like that. I have to stand for a few minutes and I will sit down. >> Okay. As long as you can stand there. Okay. >> Yeah. I'm not running no more. I'm not hiding. You guys want this little bit of money. I could cut you a check bigger than this. >> I'm just let I'm just letting you know. I write a check bigger than that. Yeah. Now I write a check bigger than that. Your little bit of salary you making not too infinite. Infinite. Only reason why y'all struggling is y'all don't got the power of the right to do it. I got to do it. Not will >> I also don't have like the exact >> it's not [singing] practicing magic >> to get the >> I thought you plastic. Perhaps the woman was mentally unstable. Even up to this very moment, she showed no remorse for what she had done and even displayed bursts of uncontrolled behavior. >> Because I asked you to give me that place. >> You trying to get another charge? >> I don't care. >> That's money. Line it up. PUT MY HANDS BEHIND MY BACK. I'M AT EASE. Acting like they working. I like the new Christian rappers. They on the surface. Not really on the surface. Repent. Uh, let's go. Put the CUFFS ON MY WRIST. SAY THE TERRORIST trying to say that Jesus ain't God. Boy, you bugging. Tunnel vision. Stay in focus. If you love God, then you better show it. Huh? Still could do it. Yeah. This ain't no game. I ain't joking. Scary mother. There's a bunch of scary people over here. >> If she refuses, what's y'all's next step? >> I have to talk to the doctor. See what he's saying. >> Okay. Yeah, you refuse. All right. I refuse. Well, just talk to >> That's why I'm good. Write the paperwork. >> I'm not trying to take the doctor and see what you want to get. >> He can't identify nothing. I'm definitely going to tell I'mma tell on Mr. uh Mr. Payne. You definitely going to get in trouble for that. There's no law to hold my child. There's no law to hug her. Y'all put your hands on her. Y'all don't even have the right to do that. Then snatching her away from me. I try to hold her. Y'all try to snatch her away from me. I'm holding her. He threw me down on him. Officer a pain assault my daughter. You assault a child. You should be ashamed of yourself, but you're not. Your ego, you don't even know why you got Don't hide from God. Come back out. Don't hide from God. Don't hold your head down. Hold it up high. Feel good about your wrongdoing. So when I persecute you and put you on the cross, all your sins you will carry. >> She was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, resisting an officer, and providing false information during the investigation. Losing control in public can escalate danger and stress for everyone involved. Staying calm and seeking help early prevents unnecessary chaos. In the next case, this man shows that cooperating keeps things simple and light. >> Just do a little grab and run. Just grab some handfuls and run out. Got you guys on stuff. On August 29th, 2024, a man suspected of shoplifting from a store fled in a silver BMW. Unaware that the stolen items were equipped with tracking devices. Using the tracker, police located the car. And here's what happened next. >> You look at this silver BMW. How's it going, guys? >> You guys know whose car this is? No. Not associated. No. Okay, cool. you with the chain. Come here. >> Me? >> Yeah. You got ID on you, >> huh? >> You got ID? >> ID? >> ID? >> No. >> What's your name? >> Huh? >> What's your name? >> Person associated with this car looks like you. That's why I'm wondering. What's your name? >> What's going on? >> We're right now investigating criminal activity. Sir, I want to get your name to verify you're not involved so I can leave you alone. What's your last name? >> Jackson. >> Jackson. What? You're not associated with this car at all? >> I This is my brother's car, my friend's car that I've been using. >> Okay. So, you've been driving this car? >> Not me. I just picked it up today. >> Okay. From what? >> Um my bro house. >> Your brother's house. All right. Where's that at? >> Come on over here. I want to separate yourself from from these people. Come on over here. The man initially claimed he hadn't used the car at all during the time of the theft, but under the officer's persistent questioning, his statement quickly shifted. >> All right. So, what we're trying to figure out essentially is what happened. >> Yeah. >> Okay. That's that's why we got >> I that wasn't me. I let someone use my car. >> Okay. >> And that's about it. But I didn't had nothing to do with it. >> Okay. >> All right, man. >> Tell you who I let use my car, but I didn't have nothing to do with that. >> Okay. Who did you let use your car? Um, it was one of this dude. >> Okay. So, I just want to let you know like before we get into I got this car, you got this car, all this stuff, right? And that's figuring everything out. Like you you you're using this car, you borrowed it, you're you >> where'd you get it from? >> Well, I this is I used to own this car and then I got it back >> when I had my Maserati. >> Then I got it back from the dude. Gotcha. >> And then I just use it every once in a while and then I let my bro use it. >> Okay. >> For the past 2 days. >> Gotcha. Okay. So, you have been driving around this car. So, I'm going to ask you again. Are we going to see you on these cameras? >> No. >> Okay. Are you going to be in the car? >> No. >> Well, don't don't lie to me. We're here for shoplifting stuff. Okay. If you make it more than that, then it's more than that. Okay. Were you in Were you in the car when they shoplifted? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Gotcha. >> So, he had been at the scene all along. The officers kept pressing him because they already knew the truth. They just wanted to see whether he'd come clean. And soon enough, he broke, laying out the entire sequence of his actions. >> So, I got to stop hanging around, sir. I ain't going to lie. You associated with bro. >> Wrong people, man. So, here's what we're going to do, okay? Because you're detained and I'm going to keep talking to you. How many pairs of pants you think are back there? >> Not too sure. Probably 10, 11, 12. I don't know. Do >> you have the keys to this car? Okay. >> You going to give these jeans back to us? >> Yes. >> Perfect. While you're doing that, let's talk about who it was that we're going to see on camera taking this fans. Okay. Who was it? Who was out here stealing? >> I was be honest. When we went in the We went in the store and I was with one of my older friends that I met up with. >> Yeah. Okay, >> I'm going to go. Someone told us to go to the store to get to the stuff. >> Okay, just do a little grab and run. Just grab some handfuls and run out. >> I got you. >> The other guy put on stuff. >> They put on some things while he's in the store, too. Okay, I got you. So, did you have any active participation? Were you holding jeans when you left the store? And like I said, if if you lie to me, I'm just all I got to do is look at the camera when I get back and see exactly what it was. Okay. So, did you steal these jeans, too? After his lie collapsed, the man became fully cooperative, giving statements that helped wrap the case up smoothly. He revealed details about who was involved and exactly how much had been stolen. >> What happened in the store so I can know your statement? >> He walked around and then took the jeans. He put on stuff. >> Okay. And then we put on a couple of jackets and then he told me to grab the jeans and I >> Okay, I got you. How many pairs did you say you grabbed? >> He just told me to take the stack slides. It's probably 10, 11, 12, 15. >> Okay. Did you know that they had trackers on them? >> No, but they had the little sensors on them and stuff. Yeah, >> I got you. >> All right. What's your What's your buddy's name? He's going to I only know him by his like his >> what he's known out. What's he known out as? >> Uh, poetic. >> Poetic. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's he look like? I think I've heard that name before. >> Medium kind of dude. Like 20, late 20s. >> Okay. >> Early 30s. >> Medium. Was he Is he dark skin? Light skin? >> Oh, >> like a caramel color. All right, I got you. All right, man. Um, so like I said, we got some steps that we got to do. One, we got to recover the pants. Okay. Uh, you got the keys on you for this car? >> I think it Where are the keys at? >> I was when I was start helping them. I put it probably on the car somewhere. >> Good. You think we were going to talk to you, so you just ditch the keys real quick? >> No, I just I was helping them put stuff. >> Other stuff's in there, too. If I go get it, I'm not going to do nothing. >> Just stay here. It's all right. Where in Where in this car do the keys? It's right on the seat over. >> In reality, every tracking device attached to each stolen pair of jeans counted as stolen property, which pushed his total loss to $1,350, including $500 just for the tracker alone. By the time he realized the weight of what he'd done, his regret came far too late. >> I'm not school to be an iron worker, and I don't want to mess that up. I mean, you you straight up stole, you know, maybe a few thousand on camera, too. So, >> I know it's not right around the wrong people just to get money. >> If we get you a consent search form, will you fill that out and sign it saying that, "Hey, we can we can search your car and get the evidence back, get the pants back." >> Yeah. Do you have one of those forms? >> Can I grab them? And then you guys, >> cuz the worst I mean, best case scenario is, hey, you just pull those jeans out. You say, "Here you go, man. My bad. I'm sorry." Worst case scenario is you go ah and you pull out some sort of gat and then then it's a then it's a firefight, right? And I I I know that that's not how you are and that's not the vibe you're giving me, but I have to plan for worst case scenario, right? So, we're just going to sit until we get the official form out. You sign it saying, "Hey, I'm giving consent to to search this car to go through it and recover this merchandise and whatnot, and then we figure stuff out from there." Based on the tracker's location, it looks like you guys was running around just causing problems. Right after that, the officers recovered every stolen item and laid out exactly what he would have to face next. >> Okay, here's something very quiet. Like a That's real real quiet. >> You know what this is? >> Right. Don't Don't react. >> Oh, nice. >> Sweet. >> Never seen that before either. That's pretty sweet. >> All right, man. So, here's the next step. Next step is we'll get you a record statement from you. I'll write you a citation for it for theft. You show up in court later for it. Talk to the judge, take care of it, however you need to take care of it. Okay? As of right now, like I said, everything else has been has been chill. Even though it's a lot and it's taking a while, you've been super chill with us. I'm not trying to jam you up. Okay? He was charged with shoplifting, receiving only a citation thanks to his cooperation, and his case remained under review. His cooperation didn't erase the crime, but it did spare him from a far worse outcome. A sharp reminder that owning up early can be the only way to soften the fall. >> Stop. Don't run. What are you What are you What are you doing, man? Relax. What is wrong with you right now? >> I need to go. >> You can't leave. You are not leaving right now. On May 2nd, 2023, police were dispatched to Wind Dixie after receiving a report of a shoplifting in progress. The suspect was a woman who had packed her cart full of merchandise and walked out without paying. As soon as they approached her, she acted evasive as if nothing had happened. >> You have a receipt or did you buy this? >> Um, no. I'm sorry. >> Don't leave. Come back here. Don't leave. Come back, ma'am. Come here, >> ma'am. Come here. Stop. Don't run. What are you What are you doing? What are you doing? >> Please let me go. >> Don't No, you can't leave. Where are you going? >> Stop touching me. >> You're detained right now. >> Stop touching me. >> You are detained right now. >> The woman's actions completely hindered the police. She didn't offer a single word of explanation, and her evasive behavior grew increasingly stubborn and complicated. >> Can I get a uh >> Stay right here. Where are you going? Stand right here. >> 104. Is there anything? >> Ma'am, you need to stay right here. What? Give you an ID on >> Stay right here. Do not leave. >> Ma'am, what are you doing? What are you doing right now? You need to stay right here. Hey, can you grab her? >> Ma'am, relax. What is wrong with you right now? >> I need to go. >> You can't leave. You are not leaving right now. >> Put your arms behind your back. Put your arms behind your back. >> I'm not going to try to leave. No, it's too late. I'm not playing this game anymore. Put your arm back, man. 601 to 10. >> From fleeing and passive resistance to the moment she was cuffed, she remained cold and indifferent, as if silently admitting her wrongdoing. On top of that, she didn't carry any ID. Right on time, huh? >> Pretty much. >> Where's your ID? >> I don't have >> You don't have one. >> You don't have one in your purse? >> Have another unit come by. Uh, can you have the manager come up? >> Yeah, I got you. You want me to take this in or leave right here? >> He can leave right here till he comes out and decides what he wants to do. Can you tell me what happened? Why would you need stuff? >> Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I'm just trying to get stuff for my family. I'm sorry. And I I don't want to go to jail. That's the last thing I need right now. >> Why are you trying to run from me? I tell you not to move. Why do I have to grab you? I don't want Do you think I want to do this? >> No, I don't. I'm just I'm >> I know they say you're scared, but you cannot run from the law enforcement when they're stopping you. >> You're esc You escalated this. Yeah. I don't want I didn't have to put cuffs on you. I just have her detained there now. >> Just looking for her on camera actually. >> And it seemed like this was a planned theft as the staff confirmed through the camera that there were signs of a getaway vehicle. >> What's up? >> She was waiting for her ride for getaway car was actually parked in the front parking spot in that handicap place. >> You got it on camera? >> Uh yeah. >> You got a tag on there or whatever. Even if you don't have one, >> I'm going to I'm going to try to get a tag for you now. >> 1439 from last night. Uh, I do got uh I think I got a plane for you. >> All right, you're good to go. >> Make sure back here. >> Put that with your property. So, with your bags and stuff. >> Yeah, I know. >> All right, go ahead. >> You go. Thanks a lot. >> Yep. You need anything else? You know what to put in your CRA and everything? >> I'll figure it out. I'm going to go to I'm going to go to a station and get with Sergeant cuz uh >> records show her name is Samantha with a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2021 including multiple petty thefts, multiple failures to appear, mostly related to DUI, possession of controlled substances, driving while license revoked, violation of probation, and a series of grand thefts and retail thefts afterward. By July 17th, 2024, Samantha continued to be arrested multiple times on similar charges, revealing a relentless pattern of criminal activity. Samantha's years of repeated crimes show that running from the law and ignoring consequences only traps you in a cycle of trouble. Take responsibility early or small mistakes can ruin your future. But staying calm just to hide deceit isn't clever. Don't be like this man. The license number that's printed on this ID doesn't come back to you. It comes back to a woman. >> Really, >> Terry? >> I don't know what to say. >> On November 8th, 2022, officers were called to a region's bank branch in Georgia after a man attempted to open an account using what appeared to be a forged ID. Upon arriving, the bank staff immediately presented all their suspicions to the officers. >> Thank you. So, this uh >> this is off. person that she's helping. >> Um, she said that uh she doesn't think it's actually him like a identity theft kind of situation cuz he said that he doesn't he's not aware of like having any accounts here that once you pulled up the information. There's several accounts. So, um >> Okay. Do you have any? >> Do I? >> Does he? >> That's what he That's what he says. He doesn't have any. So, it's to open an account. Information doesn't match just because of someone else's information who has multiple accounts with us with high balances. Uh, he couldn't tell me his social asked him verbally. He was looking everything from his devices. He's trying to be him. It's a girl on our system. He sees as a female. Drew is a female. >> Okay. >> He said he doesn't have any accounts. He wants to account, but the person is an existing client. >> Okay. >> 1506. Clearly, it wasn't just one person who noticed the suspicious signs from the man. To get clarity, the police approached him. And as they did, more suspicious behaviors continued to surface. >> How you doing, man? >> Good. How are you, sir? >> Good. Can we talk for a second? >> Sure. >> What's your uh >> what's what's your name? >> Uh Drew Alman. >> Drew Alman. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> And what are you what are you here trying to trying to do today? open up a checking account and savings account. >> Okay. >> And where do you live? >> Uh Chattanooga right now. >> Chattanooga. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Let's see how he responded to this revelation. >> So, Mr. Alman? >> Yes, sir. >> You want to tell me what's really going on today? >> Uh, what you're really doing? >> Open up checking account, savings account. >> Really? Okay, sir. >> Well, I believe you're trying to open up a savings account. However, there's a problem. This ID and the the license number that's printed on this ID doesn't come back to you. comes back to a woman. >> Really? >> So, you do you want to tell me who Clara Drew Alman is? >> Me. >> Your first name is Clara? >> No, it's not. >> No, I I don't have any idea about that. Brown. >> Nine to 10 accounts under that name. >> Nine to 10 accounts under that name. >> Mhm. >> Really? >> I don't know. I really don't. >> Okay. >> Despite all the questions uncovering the truth, he showed no hint of surprise. It seemed the name he had given was something he had just made up. And now he no longer claimed it as his own. He simply didn't know who it belonged to. >> So, you don't know who Clara Drew Alman is? I really don't. >> You really don't? Okay. >> I really don't. >> I wish I could tell you, but I don't. I need to look into that myself. >> You what? >> I need to look into that myself. >> All right. Okay, here's the deal. >> Yes, sir. It's a crime in Georgia to present an ID as if it's you when it's not. Okay. >> 15. >> Okay. >> The truth gradually came to light. Even though the man still didn't admit it, as soon as he was handcuffed, the officers quickly found the ID hidden in his wallet. >> What's your real name? >> Not Taylor Richard. >> I mean, we're going to find out when we fingerprint you. >> I know. >> Mr. Drew, we have a situation here. >> Terry, >> I don't know what to say anymore. The man's calm demeanor suggested this probably wasn't his first time doing something like this. Worse, he even admitted to having been involved in legal troubles in the past. >> You got any warrants, Terry? >> What's that? >> Yeah, >> you do. Where are they from? And what are they for?
