Here's what happened when officers arrived at the scene. You want to talk to her first or you want to talk to me first? It doesn't matter, I mean So I came across her, I noticed that she was kind of all over the place over in apparel, so I started watching her. Um and then I got her over into shoes where I seen her like shove merchandise in her purse. Um then she went over into um one of the shoe or one of the aisles where purses and stuff like that is in the handbags and stuff. So if you're doing that, I'm going to go out there and see if I can help them get that done cuz it's taking them forever. Okay, perfect. Since we're back here and such, I'll read you your Miranda rights. I don't know. We have to talk to them. But for right now, you will have to go to county and such, so You you have a right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against You have the right to an attorney while you're being questioned. You have the right to have an attorney and have a parent while you're being questioned. You can decide at any time to exercise your rights. I know but I do and I really messing me up. Sorry. >> [laughter] >> You have the right to have a parent at any time if you would like before you answer any questions. Um you can decide at any time not to talk. >> The woman appeared completely unremorseful and there was a reason for her attitude. According to her statement, she did not consider her actions to be stealing. So yeah, what what happened to you? Be honest with them, okay? So I've been going through some stuff. I got all my clothes stolen. I literally just left court. You know what I'm going through. I'm sure if you ran my name, I cannot get in any more trouble. I do not steal. The one time I was like, "Oh, I'm going to take a few shirts from Walmart cuz I have no clothes." I get caught. It was like three tank tops, a necklace, some face stuff, and a lip gloss. >> Okay. How did you take it? Like you have a cart? No, I just stuck it in my purse. And see, I gave it all back. Okay. Did you take the tags off things and such? >> But I gave it all back. I even told them where the tags were. Okay. Time for us then. Where you living at? Are you You're over in Streeter? Okay, so that's my address. All right. Well, yeah, like I said, it's up to them. I know they've already filled out a trespass, so you're going to be banned from here. >> That's fine. I swear I'll never come back, I swear. >> Yeah, and it's not just here, it's like I'm letting you off this one time. I'll never come back, I swear. Okay. Okay, so come with me. Grab your stuff. Just yep. She completely downplayed the situation she was in and even with her previous experience of being arrested, she seemed surprisingly optimistic about the next steps with officers. And then I'll bring you back here. Do you drive here or what? >> No, my friends picked me up. Okay, can they just pick you up at the station then? All right, you have We have to do fingerprints and stuff. It's a class A. You know, the last time I got arrested, they didn't do my fingerprints. Uh-huh. What's our girl? Okay. Well, yeah, her fingerprint machine was down, so that makes sense. Uh yeah, so I'll take your purse. with me. You don't have to do anything like No, I don't. Promise. Okay, let's try your phone then. Can I message somebody and tell them that I'm not going to have my Wi-Fi? Tell them to just come down to the station. We won't be long. You have any open cases or anything like that? Yes. Like for what? I just left court. Okay. For possession of a gun, drugs. It's really minor, I'm fighting it. And then in Lacey County, I'm doing a That's all going to get dropped, too. They said they found drugs in my car and I never seen them, so I'm But it's in Lacey County? >> Yes. Okay. Yeah, yeah, you might have to go see a judge then, okay? So listen, what we're going to do What we're going to do is go down to the station and I'll call up to see and see if there's any really trial conditions or anything like that. Yeah, it's not getting in trouble. >> Okay. Yeah, then that's so you might want to tell them that you have to go up there. Why are you going to write me a ticket? It's a class A. This is just the law now since the since the safety act, so Come on. You're just writing me a ticket. Her frustration showed just because she wasn't given a ticket this time. Even in the patrol car, she shamelessly talked about her last ticket. I just got sanctioned. I just did like 8 days a couple weeks ago. Do you like your job? Yeah, it's fun. All right, can I get your Oh, yeah, probably. What's blue there? For sale? No, it was probably found or What? >> impounded or something. You want to ask her to get it? No, I'll grab it. Yeah, leave it. All right, front of there. I'll take them cuffs off you. Okay. All right, so have a seat there on the bench for me. Huh? Just have a seat on the bench. At the police station, officers conducted a more detailed interview to gather her account of the incident. >> So they kind of explain to me what happened. Went to Walmart, just looking around. Literally, I have a crate of clothes. It's all I have. All my stuff got robbed in Streeter. Everybody steals everything from me. So I just took a few tank tops and a pair of leggings. And So I got my sunglasses and yeah, I got caught. Okay. It's not even anything crazy. People walk out with carts of stuff. >> Yeah, they sure do. >> And I have never in my life done anything like that. I don't even steal. So you got a couple shirts you said? I put a couple shirts. It was like a long-sleeved shirt, a pair of leggings, and some face stuff. Okay, like makeup or >> No, like this clay because my skin's breaking out really bad. And I put it in my purse. Okay. All right. And when he asked me, I was honest about everything. I even told him where the tags were and I gave everything back. What about the jewelry? Were there necklaces, too? >> There was one necklace that I had on. But I didn't even put it on, so I was like, "I usually wear a necklace, so here, take it. Sorry." >> Okay. I'm like, "Here it is." The The packaging, I told him where all of the ticket little things were. Everything. >> Okay. And where Sure. Yeah, where did she Did you actually buy anything or not? Where did he talk to you at? Where did he stop you? Right when I was walking out. Okay. By the doors? >> Yeah. Okay. Shortly after, police questioned her motives for committing the wrongdoing. It seems she also refused to accept the consequences of her actions. Do you I mean, is it just you're hard on times? You don't have any money? >> Very hard on times. Well, I have all all these felonies, can't get a job. I was a CNA. Yeah. I just never had any cycle of [ __ ] Just hard times. I had all my stuff at somebody's house and they Everyone goes and take all the little drug addicts go and take all my Yeah, so I literally [clears throat] have one pair of pants. Okay. Sucks. All right. Well, let me get your You're not a bad person. People make mistakes. It's Yeah. I get it. I really do. I don't want to get in any more trouble. Okay. All right, just so you see, do you want to make any phone calls off our phone here? You're good? I'm going to make sure that I have to call and see if you have any pre-trial conditions. If you do, yes, you have to go up there to see till you see a judge. I have to just got to do my job, so can you sign here for me? Huh? Yeah, you'll have to see a judge in the morning. I'm not going to lie to you about that. I doubt it. So I have to You're going to have to take me to jail. Yeah. Yeah, you have to go to county. Huh? Yes, you'll have to go up to county. Like for sure am I going? I'm going to check on your pre-trial release conditions. Okay. I know, but if you violate any criminal statute, it's All right, just sign there for me saying you don't want to make any phone calls. If you change your mind In this case, the woman was charged with retail theft. Even when the wrongdoing is obvious and the consequences are clear, refusing to take responsibility only makes the situation worse and shows a lack of accountability. In the next case, the police faced many challenges. You're the ones, Come over here. [ __ ] What the [ __ ] you're doing? I'm getting him in the car. You keep on hitting him. On October 9th, 2023, officers received a call from TJ Max reporting a group of women engaging in shoplifting. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers approached the store manager to gather details about the situation. So, I have three females in the building right now. They have been actively selecting one of them I have on camera stuffing in a black duffel bag that she selected off of the floor. Um one of them is wearing a black jacket and she does not have a face mask on. The other one is wearing like a red lingerie suit, shorts and shirt shorts. They're still inside right now? >> in there, but we can't They're still inside the building right now. We can't do anything until they actually come out of the store. Um they come out the store with our merchandise. But when I was coming out here and I'm coming up here to meet you, um they were still in the kids section selecting out items. At the same time, officers noticed a man engaging in inappropriate behavior in the parking lot. They immediately took action. What are you doing? What do you mean what am I doing? Come here. Come here. Hold on. Come here. Turn around. What are you doing to me? So, it's all about being detained, unassociated. What the hell do you think you're doing? I'm getting him in the car. You keep on hitting him. Oh, at least they're on top of it. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford one, one will be That's our car, please. She's inside our place. Who their mom? Yeah. She's in there. There she is. And when I told her he was dragging him by his neck, she went, "Oh, is he?" Well, my man arrested him. Why do you think, sir? I don't know. Well, I spanked him, but I mean No, you did not spank him. Everything's on body cam. Shortly after, officers approached the mother involved in the incident and she appeared to see nothing serious about what had happened. He has a broken He has a broken arm. Is that your husband? >> Uh-huh. Well, a friend. We're not Well, he's probably going to go to jail today. Okay, so I mean what happened exactly? Uh I saw him punching that guy multiple times. And I'm not talking about discipline, I'm talking about punching multiple times. He turned to him and said >> He kept on doing it to him when he was leaving. Yeah. It was um it's going to be child abuse. Okay. All right. Um which will probably lead to other issues, but um on his side of things. Uh-huh. Uh has he been acting up today or what? >> Um because he wasn't listening, because he was running in and out of the aisles. And he basically told Well, he said, "Well, you're going to have to come get me if you want me to stop." And then finally once he did get him, I guess Look, I'm all for I'm all for punishment of kids who act up, but the what he was doing was not is not right. It's not it's not within the laws. All right? Um we can go back to your car if you want. Is there anyone else 10-8 that can come to TJ Max? Um there's three suspects and just one of me right now. 250, I'll help out if you need to. I'm right here. Returning to the main incident that brought officers to the scene, the officers planned to wait and monitor the suspects for the right moment. >> If they're concealing things inside the store, we can detain them. Okay. But if they don't But as soon as they walk out with the merchandise, one had a black duffel bag that is ours that had a TJ Max label on it. Unless they have a magnet, but it is a black duffel. Central, can you generate a second call at the same address for child abuse? And that's the call that we'll have one in custody on. Is that them? 250, we sure that's not them? She's saying that's them, but they don't have any merchandise. They dropped it inside the store. Good for them. The one in the brown is carrying the duffel bag. After receiving a confirmed signal on the suspects, a nearby officer quickly moved in to intervene, but unexpectedly, the women had already prepared something insane. >> They're the ones. Come over here. [ __ ] SPRITE! SPRITE! BLACK DODGE STRATUS. FLEEING THE SCENE. ASSAULT ON AN OFFICER! ASSAULT ON AN OFFICER! SARGE, I'M HERE WITH YOU. I GOT YOU. GOD DAMN IT! GOD! HE HAS ASSAULT ON AN OFFICER. SARGE! I GOT water in my car. [ __ ] Where's your car? >> [laughter] >> Yes! >> It's not a Charger. It's an Avenger! IT'S NOT A CHARGER. BLACK AVENGER. I got the tag on the back. Hey, I got water. I got water. I got water. Give me Give me water. Seems secure. What the [ __ ] The suspects had clearly anticipated the officers' presence and had prepared a method to escape. At that moment, officers were forced to struggle after being hit with pepper spray. Yeah, they I think they said that one of the one that was at the mall was all beat all up with [ __ ] Well, it was the same one. Okay. Sean. Yeah. Take care of him. I'm going to go get camera. Okay. Okay. >> One of them pepper sprayed our sergeant. Okay. Um I have a uh officer here, the one that responded to the call. Um the one of the girls that left when they left here, one of the officers that was on a different call, she pepper sprayed him. I think Beverly's seen her seen him leave leave out of here. Yeah, there was an officer going Yeah. But I don't know if they got them or I've never been sprayed that bad. I was holding him. Yeah, good old [ __ ] Look like a damn fire hose pipe. No. Like a damn garden hose. They had it. The woman was convicted of theft and assault on an officer. Although the assault charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. She pleaded guilty to stealing merchandise valued between $10,000 and $60,000, was ordered to pay more than $11,500 in resti- tution and was placed [music] under 2 years of probation. If people had seen thieves put on an act, you should have seen this one from the police. There was a fight he really messed me up. I he let it let the phone call on one phone call. Did you let me out my sleeve? Cuz I don't want to get caught, buddy. Caught about what? What do you mean? I don't want to get caught in the On February 6th, police were dispatched to a hotel after receiving a report from a man searching for a missing phone, but upon arrival, the caller matched the description of suspects accused of theft at a 7-Eleven. And that was when the police's act began. Make it uh uh sound from the phone. Oh, you're saying the like the lost my phone thing. That's what I'm trying to get her to do. Uh okay. You got to hear everything that's going on. That's what I've been trying to do. I've been doing this for hours. He gave me a hard time. Well, let me let me wait till my partner's finished and then maybe we can walk out to the car. And then that then you can call her and then if it's out there, it'll ding and you'll hear it. Cuz otherwise, what's the point of her doing it if we're not nearby to hear it? We'll stand by the car. We'll call her on speaker and ask her to ding it and if it's in the car, you can grab it. I've been trying to say that though. It was cold outside. We came inside to figure out what we were going to do. >> want me to get caught lying from him. Are you going to come Do you want to go outside now and do it? Let's go to the car. We'll call her fiance or whatever quick and get her to ping the phone. Okay? All right. Hey, hold on. Let's go over here so we can get I I was just going to wait. I'm not doing nothing irresponsible. Plain. All right. Plain. Yeah. Can you please try to find where my phone at because They're trying to make it sound like I'm a part of something. I got nothing to do with nothing that's going on. I'm stranded out here. I mean what they they need to me to do? Send a screenshot to somebody's phone? So I don't know what they want, but I'm trying to find my phone. I've been trying to FIND MY PHONE FOR HOURS. HE said you can make it do the No, no, do you know when you lost the phone [ __ ] Yeah. The phone. He put Police also tried to lure the remaining female suspect to appear while the man was completely unaware of the police's act and even revealed many other things about himself. >> Trying to make it sound like I got something else going on. I ain't got nothing to do with THIS CAR. MY LICENSE IS BAD. ALL RIGHT, IT IS. I'm already fighting a case. I'm not going to drive no [ __ ] car. This ain't got nothing to do with you. You can run this plate on this car. It ain't GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. THIS IS NOT MY CAR. YOU'RE TRYING TO BLAME THIS ON ME. I AM NOT TRYING to blame it on you. It was. That's why you were waiting to confirm for him. I'm trying to help you find your phone. I'm literally on I'm helping you right now. And you were trying to wait for a whole confirm for something that I ain't got nothing to do with me, man. No, you wasn't. You wasn't. Let me talk to him. You weren't. Before you you were waiting for a confirm. Ma'am, can you can you do the find my iPhone like make it ding for him? I understand that. No, I'm calling the phone. I just stopped like I had the phone. Well, do you want to hang up and call it? Or do you want to go over there if it's ringing, and if it rings? Did you check the car that that car Yeah. I did check the car. We've been checking the car the whole time. Yeah, we're checking the car right now. Careful. I don't hear it ringing. Keep on that charger. Are you Are you Are you still calling it? I'm still calling it now. Okay. She's calling right now. There's a phone right here. What phone is that? Right there. No, it's not it. It's not it. Okay. It's not my phone. Mine got a Louis case on it. A Louis case? What color? The search for the phone was only a ruse by the police. In reality, they led him to reveal information about his vehicle and even astonishing details inside it. >> here trying to find my car, so I can I've been trying to get back to you the whole time. I'M SEARCHING THIS PERSON'S CAR LEFT OR RIGHT. Outside the car. FC53884? Dude, look. It ain't even ain't even close. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. This ain't got nothing to do with me. It said I had it uh slid under the seat, but I don't see it. And that phone in the seat here is not yours. I'm trying to find No, you're good, dude. I didn't see nothing here. I did not see no lights coming No, and then it it it rang and rang and rang and then went to voicemail. All right, you want to try inside? All right. This is really helping me out. I know. I want to enjoy my life, [ __ ] Be in that fast. That's it. Before he came to the desk, it was the police really left me. I he let it let the phone call on one phone call. I've been searching and trying to look for my phone. Shortly after, the man led the police back to his own room, and that was the moment they returned with the true purpose they had been waiting for. Let me see if one of them We need to put him in handcuffs right away. Yeah, please. No, no. Got it. All right. Yeah, that's great. Hey, so we've got some news for you, man. So, we got video from the 7-Eleven that you know nothing about. Can you put your phone in your pocket, please? Okay. So, we're going to put you in in handcuffs. I ain't got nothing to do with that. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. No, I don't. Let go. >> [music] >> You did. You want to see the I'll show you the the photo right after I put you in handcuffs. I don't have it. I promise I'll show you the photo. But don't do it. Let us just do this thing. I don't have nothing to do with that. Come on. I don't know. I don't have nothing to do with that. You do. Come on. I'm not Hey, I'm not in control of that. I have nothing to do with it. >> But we have to detain you while we're doing AN INVESTIGATION. HEY, YO. COME OUTSIDE, MAN, cuz I ain't did nothing with this. Chaos erupted, affecting that entire section of the hotel. He denied the allegations yet resisted, despite having nothing to prove his innocence. What is in here? I'm trying to make sure of that. I thought it was clear on that one. Can you please make sure of that? Why are you looking at my feet? Cuz I don't want to get caught, buddy. Caught about what? What do you mean? I don't want to get caught in the My hands been in cuffs. WHY Y'ALL DOUBLE CUFFING ME? First degree for watching it. That's it. We're going to charge you with a number of charges. I'm not doing nothing. What you want from me? Can you move your feet? I'm not doing nothing wrong, man. I had glasses when I left. Hey, Dante. Good morning. How you doing? We got to get you in here in jail, okay? Mhm? We got to bring you in. I didn't do nothing wrong. Okay. I haven't seen your paperwork yet. The other suspect was found heavily intoxicated and unclothed, with all of the stolen merchandise recovered inside the hotel room, and the total value exceeded the felony threshold. They were charged with grand theft. This case showed how careless behavior and overconfidence only made it easier for police to uncover the truth, turning a simple lie into serious felony charges. Next up, meet this man who pretended to be innocent. Come on. [ __ ] you ran. I just got I got scared me. How do we scare you? I just said, "Hey, come in here." I ain't right. On March 27th, 2025, officers responded to a call from Walmart after discovering that a man deliberately attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. Police moved in to intercept the man, but an unexpected turn of events still awaited. I'm going to try to like walk out so I can push him towards the door. Come on. Put your hands behind your back. Put them behind your back and now Stop [ __ ] resisting. Put your hands behind your back. Why you running? I don't know what these guys rushing me for. Chill out. You're being detained for retail theft. >> Relax, dude. And now you're under arrest for For what? For what? For resisting at last. Now you're under arrest for resisting. No, look. I told you Since you want to play games. I can list myself, sir. No, give your hand Let go of your phone. I told you I don't Let go of your phone. Let go of your phone. Put your hands behind your back. There you go. Left. The man claimed he had done nothing wrong, so why did he suddenly turn and run? His explanation appeared completely illogical. Excuse me, you got Okay. Can you double check him? Hold on, he's got them backwards. He already ran. Say what? Grab an arm. He's already ran. You ran. I just got I got scared me. How do we scare you? I just said, "Hey, come in here." I ain't right. I ain't know what y'all wanted, sir. Well, that doesn't mean you need to run. We could have just had a talk. >> You right. Right now. Cool? Sorry. So, don't do it next time. I apologize. Cuz now you're getting charged for it. I'm getting charged for it, huh? You ran. I did not run. I was scared. He ran up on me. He was on duty. I seen no badge until the last minute, sir. I swear to God. >> So, I'm I'm not going to argue with you. Put your hands Are you trying to pull your hands back? Cuz if you leave them and don't try to pull them out of the car No, I'm not trying to pull them out of the car. Okay. I'm just saying they are perfectly fine there. I know it doesn't matter. Take a seat. You got an ID on you? No, sir. You don't have an ID on you? No, sir. All right. I'm going to read you this real quick before I can hug you, okay? Yeah. That's what's going on today. Listen, I was just chilling. My family lives here. The man's attitude showed no sense of guilt, and he did not even bother to care about resolving the situation with the police. You chilling? You get your shopping? What are you I was shopping. What are you >> Sir, can I uh get a uh Hey, tell you. So, did you take something without paying for No, sir. I did not take anything. The Walmart man handed me the thing. Handed me the bags, and that was that. And then a guy walked up to me and said, "You want to Hold on. Wait. Wait." And that's when I seen you guys. And I literally like I was scared, so that's why I did. Where'd you take off? Where'd you run? I was scared. I ain't know. I never Basically, they trying to game me. So, so if I watch the footage, I'm going to see you paying for the items? No, you're not going to see me paying for it. What now? The thing is I had ordered it already. You had an order? Yeah, but it had to it probably had to been around third. Obviously, you guys came and arrested me. So, I don't know. You say you had an order. What kind of order? Shopping for somebody? Yeah. Do you have proof of You have that on your phone? No, sir. No, sir. Are you going to add one of those? Let me give you one of those before you Yeah, I'm doing it with my girlfriend. It seemed that the man had made up a story as an excuse. Even when he admitted fault, he still treated it as just a mistake. You're doing an order for your girlfriend? Yeah. But you didn't get dispatched to pick up No. I probably was at literally I probably was at the wrong store. Like I said, the guy could have told me that like I don't see anything. wrong store, but it would be on your phone. Not on You got a receipt. Right. At the end of the day, that's what I Man, you going to quit bullshitting us? I'm not bullshitting you. We have a case from a month ago where you did the same thing and you didn't get caught. It was you. No, it wasn't, man. No, it wasn't. Then who was it? What are you talking about? Okay. Well, we have video footage of Okay, can you show me Okay, can you show me Can you show me that it's me? Yeah. We'll pull it up. Okay, please. I stole them and I'll own up to it if I if I take my accountability, but honestly, they would have told me They would have told me if I would have stole anything. You would have told you. The man twisted his statements and argued back in an attempt to downplay the situation, but because of his deliberate attempt to flee, the officers were not convinced at all. The Walmart worker told you that you were stealing. That's what he tried to do. That's what he tried to do. He tried to stop you. Right. Yeah. And then you ran. I didn't. I put the bags down and I got scared because I did not know who he was. Honestly. Man, I told you to stop, and when I grabbed your arm and you turned around and ran. So, stop playing this whole game. If you stole, just own up to it. You're an adult. I am owning up to it, sir. You're not owning up to anything. You You've been bullshitting us the whole time. Sir, the man literally handed me the items. I didn't take it. But I didn't And do you have proof that you purchased the items at all? Do you have anything to prove that you bought the items or anything? How are we How are we expected to believe you if you can't provide us any proof? You see what we're saying? See what we're saying? Okay. So, you order, you have a receipt on your phone. That's how Spark works. I understand that. Okay. How did you know what to order then? Because she told me. Your girl told you? I knew where she was. Yeah. I saw her. She didn't say go pick this up off the walk out of the store. That's what happened. I walked into the to the Walmart when they Okay. So how did how did you how did you get past the Walmart worker? What did you just say my girl just told me to get these? I got to walk out with them? I just told them I had an order, sir. Okay. So I never I never I never >> them that they had an order and they just went okay. Okay, see you later. >> That was it. So so if we go ask them? Go ask them. They didn't they didn't ask you for proof of anything? >> Go ask them. Go ask them right now, sir. >> Oh, we will. His confidence was so foolish that he thought Walmart employees would back him up without realizing they were the ones who called the police. Let me talk for a second. So if that Walmart worker, how does it make sense that you walked up to them with your stuff, you told them that you had a Spark order, and they didn't ask for any proof of it, they just said go. That doesn't make any sense. Why would they do that? Ask them, sir. >> You see how it doesn't make no sense? You can ask them. Let's talk to them. Go talk to them. This whole thing is just you lying. I'm not lying, sir. Okay. All right, I'm going to have you stand up against the wall, mister, if you're okay. Do you have anything on you? No, sir. Real quick. Listen to me. Sir. That So that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm getting at. Because the jail's not going to release you until they actually confirm with some sort of paperwork like who you actually are. Cuz they're not going to release you cuz it'll be just essentially like a John Doe charge until you go in front of a judge. >> So you both said on your name or not? >> No, sir. I'm telling you my real name. Let's take him out. Put him in the car. You got everything you need? Yes. Put it right here. Take a seat. In the end, the man was charged with retail theft. Um they're going to send a subpoena to that address right there. So, that's why I want to make sure that's your address because if you don't go to the jail's court date that they sent to you, they'll cut warrants out for your arrest for contempt court. You know what that is? Contempt? Okay. So, you just go to court and explain that um that go in front of a judge and explain what happened today and what or Matt will be there, me or him or be there to testify. Most likely, they have cameras all over here. They'll probably show all that stuff anyways. But, um you want to >> [music] >> You have anything, man? So, like I said, you're um you're banned from here. If you come back in here, I'll explain that you not them, us we will be able to arrest you anytime you step on their property. Um so, just stay away from all together. All right? Do you have any questions for us? I'm good. All right. Finally, she was charged with shoplifting and trespass. Actions driven by greed and denial only make consequences worse, especially when authorities already know the truth. Next, the familiar customer who believed he would be forgiven once again. Hold on. Hey. What? Come here. I didn't say leave yet. Okay? I've made thousands of dollars I've spent in here on a daily basis. Hey, I We only do what they tell us to do. On December 16th, 2024, police received a report of a theft that had occurred at a retail store, and upon receiving the information, officers immediately approached store employees to gather details about the incident. Hello. Hi. What's going on today? So, I am actually calling to report a series of thefts that were discovered based off of uh the credit card investigation. So, let me let me pull it up. I wasn't sure where you So, I have uh eight cases here that should be under one case number. And it consists of a guy who goes to self-checkout, and he will fail to scan items, um but items like doors and ordinary and other things along that same line. Would you like me to break down each instance or When did they start? So, when did he start doing this? What day was that? So, it's it's it's way It's been months. Uh I just got here and I started looking at it. So, we're only going to do from 11 1 to capture a month period, which would make it uh Okay. Charge the each instance per broken down. Uh so, on the first um He uh failed to scan a bifold door, a tarp, and a door uh door sweeps. Show you some photos. So, this is the individual in question. He's a contractor. He's actually been shopping at this store for years. The suspect was suspected to be a regular customer of the store, and because of that, he was already being closely watched by employees. So, a cashier actually noticed that this guy had a cart full of lumber, and he had only scanned a couple pieces. And you know, that happens sometimes, but I took that, you know, I was like, "Well, that's really odd. I feel like that would would have been occurring more frequently." Mhm. So, I I ran the credit card that he had used to purchase at the end when she had corrected him and scanned all the items for him. I ran that credit card in the Lowe's system to find all the other purchases that had taken place for the last few months, and I only focused on the month within the 30 days to look at all the other transactions in which uh similar occurrences had happened. He comes in here like every other day. Um on the most recent occurrence in which he did do this, I actually saw him in person, but I it was only at the tail end. I saw him exit the building, and I uh wasn't So, what's the >> Um number eight. What's the most recent? It is So, we all uh Do we need anything else in here? I mean, he looks very familiar, actually. And I guarantee >> friendly to everyone. >> he is. Which is how he gets away with it. >> The con. That's exactly what that is. And I guarantee you do you have counterparts with um um Target. Target and Home Depot. No, I haven't made contact with Home Depot yet. >> shake hands cuz I guarantee a lot of you have This is my first uh first month here, actually. Your first month here? I uh transferred from a bunch of other locations, Mhm. and um After escaping consequences many times, he still believed there would be more chances ahead. But, this time, the police likely brought everything to an end. Well, I'm not concerned about that. So, I need to see your ID. Mr. Miranda, 5'10"? 5'10" you say? 5'11". And how much you weigh? 204. Okay. Okay, I'm just going to hold on that. Just the 5'1". Okay. Uh When we issue you a trespass? I think I'll go down here and talk to David about that. No, you're not. She's in charge. She makes the decision. You're being issued a trespass warning from you right now. If you come back on the property for a period of 1 year, you'll be arrested. Hey, so what is this for? I mean, I'm in here buying stuff through my Lowe's account and business every day. I'm going to issue you a trespass warning. You're you're just going to be trespassed right now for a year. So, we just don't want you to come back onto the property, whether that's to purchase anything or not. Okay, I'm going to go back in and close my account. Okay, no, you're not. You're You're fixing to put your stuff down, and you're going to be escorted out of the store. If you come back in the store for a period of 1 year, you'll be arrested. Okay, focus. Immediately after being accused by police, the man rushed to leave as if fearful of something, forcing officers to stop him. Hey. What? Come here. I didn't say leave yet. Okay? Don't make this more difficult than it needs to be. Currently, right now, what's happening is you're just going to be issued a trespass warning. Okay, you already said I'm not finished with you. I'm waiting some for more information to come through. Once that information comes through and I make sure that you're free to go, you're free to go. Until then, you're being detained by me. You understand? Mhm. So, don't make this something it doesn't need to be. More likely, you'll be able to walk out of here in a minute. Until then, relax. The pro counter in the store, man. What did they tell you? They didn't talk to you somebody right now. They trying to figure this out now. Okay. I've made thousands of dollars I've spent in here on a daily basis. Hey, I We only do what they tell us to do. They don't want you in here. They want to issue you I got to do what they ask. Cuz I'm in here It's four of us work together. We spend thousands of dollars a year in here. Just minutes later, police received the store's decision, making it clear that this would not be an easy departure. All right. So, I'm going to take your information and issue you a trespass. You're going to need to be placed under arrest right now for grand theft. Okay, what did I steal? Uh there's a couple different instances in the last couple months where you've gone to scan things out in the store, and you don't pay for everything you Bend over to the waist. Bring him to the register. I can, okay? Okay. Um if you like, we'll go to an office here real quick and talk about it. I'll show you all the pictures and everything. Um the loss prevention officers here have done their due diligence and research, provided you complete surveillance video and everything. We were at the register with a copy of each receipt for each time you scan something at the register, and compared to what's on the cart you push out the store and what you scan and pay for, Turn your right. are two different things. So, Stop. I'm going to make you as comfortable as I can, for you, okay? Mhm. Do you have a car here? Yeah. Where's it at? Outside by the My truck is outside by the Yep. Uh We'll have someone go and pick it up. Yep. Do you want us to take all your personal property and put it in your truck and lock it up? Yeah. So what do you You're okay with that? Yeah. Yeah. We'll open up the truck. Yeah. Finally, the man was charged with grand theft. On June 19th, 2023, police received a call from a local store reporting suspected theft involving two women. Upon arriving at the scene, both had fled outside but were intercepted by officers. That's why I'm going to I don't feel comfortable doing that. You know what I'm saying? Do you get what I'm saying? Okay, I got it. We'll make it real simple for you. So ask them which female it is. All right, which one was it? It was the one with the light green shirt with the denim shorts. She has the lighter brown purse. Copy that. Green? Huh? Green shirt and the denim shorts? Yep. Okay. I'm just trying to figure out why they're lying. Why is two different stories going on? Y'all not going to talk to them at all? Yeah, we are. So what they saying? All right. I'm just asking. So they're saying she didn't have anything to do with it. She said But At the end of the day, that's wrong though. Yeah, there's two different things going on. If you come out here and you just honestly say Go ahead. You come out here and you honestly say What? No, I'm not running. Listen, you you you ma'am, you already came right here. No, no, I don't want I'm not running. I'm not doing anything. You have to do all of this? Why does she got to go in cuffs? She don't have to do all of this. Come on this. Come on this. Both women denied the accusations and appeared confused by the officers' actions. On the way to the office, she continuously voiced her complaints. I'm not doing the most. All right, what happened was easy to take for us. I want for y'all to talk to this man right here. Yes, sir. She said she had nothing to do with it. >> Okay. And then finally like he's like, "No, like we caught you. We saw you take it." And then finally that's when they both got arrested. Turned her back Okay. The other one's not being detained right now? They're both until we can Okay. verify that she had nothing to do with So You guys don't have video footage of the other person doing They're reviewing it right now. Okay, so they're still investigating. You got to go in here. Just follow her downstairs. I'm going to continue getting their information here for the trace. Yeah. All the information, phone numbers, everything we can get. I'm going to get that and then whatever else you need. It didn't stop there. Shortly after, the officers discovered that the information she had previously provided was unreliable. We have no record of either of them. Both of these names are fake or We just gave it that or I said fake. When this conversation was happening, where were you guys? When were they arresting her? Did you search for an ID? We never can identify but this person is possibly a fake name. Okay, so you guys were on the outside of the store. You didn't pay for the dress. Couldn't hear you. Thanks. Yeah. They walked out of the store. They didn't pay for the dress. That's not Okay, I know. So you were outside of the store. So unprofessional. Y'all Go ahead cuz we got to hear this. All right, let me talk. Let me talk. You were outside of the store and the security guard came to you and you told the security guard he stopped you to make you give back the dress. He said give it back then we will not call the police. Right, exactly. And then what happened after that? And then we said, "We'll just pay for it." He said No, he said "All right, come in." So we were like, "Okay, we'll just pay for it." He was saying she was lying. He was like, "You're lying." And I'm like, "She doesn't know what's going on." You know what I'm saying? So I asked him I was like, "So are we walking to the register to pay for the dress?" And he said, "Yes." So I asked him I was like, "So are we walking to the register to pay for the dress?" And he said, "Yes." Next thing you know, y'all are all outside. Y'all are all You know what I'm saying? So the last one was standing out there. And then there was And then we were standing out there trying to figure out what was going on. So I walked back in the store with them to go pay for the dress. And then talking about going upstairs. I'm like He actually took us to the register. Yeah, I'm asking why do we have to go upstairs if I'm going to pay for it. You get what I'm saying? What's upstairs that All right. All right, why can't I just pay for it right here? Okay. And as soon as we went to the register, he's talking about So I The dress is right there as you see and I would we That's what you suggested? Yes. Okay. So in her own story, she inadvertently revealed that she had indeed taken the items without paying. Yet now she portrayed herself as the victim. The officers immediately clarified that her actions were wrong. I cannot be You are you are more than old enough to understand that you cannot walk out of a store without even paying for it. Okay, yes, I understand that. Okay, so for me that is the end of the discussion. It is a crime >> the point of doing all of this extra stuff? >> What extra stuff? We have to get your information. Yeah, you talking about y'all going to figure out what's going on. Yes, because y'all Y'all knew what was going on from the get-go. Stop. If you ask me a question, I'm going to answer it. Again, I told you I'm going to shut up and stop answering your questions if you keep over talking. Okay? So we met you all in the parking lot. This Stop. There's absolutely no way for us to know in the parking lot what's going on. So we do have to figure it out. We've got to talk to y'all. We've got to talk to the store and figure out what's going on before we make a decision. We're not just going to stop you, place you in handcuffs, which is why I stopped him from doing it out in the road. We've got to understand what's going on. Now that we do, you are going to jail. But this situation is so messy. How is this even holding right now? I'm done. What? Clearly, all the confusion stemmed from her initial lack of cooperation. At this point, the officers also received the items she had returned to the store after being caught. Well, they all just meant to lay them. They were some confidence. Isn't that what Yes. Okay. Hey, Mary 35 on robbery. If you got any Jersey deal on them. Yeah, I'm at Mary Court. Um >> She was charged with retail theft. On August 9th, 2024, police were dispatched to Target after a report of suspicious shopping. CCTV footage showed the woman calmly roaming the aisles, then slipping into a secluded spot to swap price tags, even in front of her own child. At checkout, she scanned only five of 12 items. Ultimately, loss prevention stopped her. At the scene, officers quickly separated mother and child for individual questioning. Hi. What's your name? My name's Deputy Rainey. Can I talk to you outside real quick? Okay. I'm going to have to talk to him about Do you know why you and mom are sitting in there? Why? You don't know? So, mom did something that she wasn't supposed to do. Ma'am, we're going to talk to him. I'm going to read you something, okay? Do you know why you're in here? Yes. Okay. Where did you get that soda from? I got it from the fridge. My name's Deputy Firenza, Orange County Sheriff's Office. Right. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Okay. And did mom Mom or dad buy it at the store? Um I don't know if she bought it. Okay. So, when you get something, when you come to a store like this, and you put stuff in your shopping cart, what are you supposed to do once you put it all in your cart? You didn't do anything wrong, just so you know. You're not in trouble. I put the soda next to her, but she forgot it was mine. The woman exploited the innocence of her own family to commit the wrongdoing, rightfully raising the question, what drives such reckless and irresponsible behavior? Okay. So, what is going on tonight? Honestly goes a long way. >> through divorce. She told me I couldn't have anything to do. Okay. So, they have I guess they have camera footage of everything, so >> been living in a house with no water. Okay. Nothing. Do you still have this on you? No. No? No. Okay. So, they have you on on camera swapping tags, price tags, and stuff like that. So, okay. So, the total amount that you should have paid was over $200. >> Yeah. Over $200? Why? This What they're scanning right now is at 189 what you Why? Well, just on that LEGO set, it was almost $100. >> Oh my god. Thank you. Okay. But when you come in here and you take When you go Did you ever go Have you ever been to the store with your mom before? And she puts everything in the cart, and then you go home, and then you pay for it, right? She's not paying for stuff that she's supposed to be paying for, which is stealing. CCTV captured the full checkout, showing the total should have been $268.48. Yet, she scanned only $19.50. Everything was clear, but she still stubbornly denied that truth. >> Clothing yourself, one of the one of the pants was like 25, 30 bucks, and you put a new tag on it. How were you putting the tags on them? I didn't put those tags on there. They were hanging in the clearance aisle. Okay. I bet I said I didn't do anything. >> them. Yeah. You didn't take any of the tags off the pants? >> No. What What tags did you swap? >> the video? I'm in the clearance aisle the whole time. What tags did you swap then? Just the um sticky ones. Okay. How many items did you swap? >> Um a folder, the LEGO set. I told him that. The folder, the LEGO set, and And Nothing. And then a bag didn't have a tag. Okay. That's it. Yeah. I'm not sure what the price is on that bag. Please don't violate me, guys. Please. So, Like I'm going to I can't go to jail. You guys don't understand. I don't want to go to jail. Well, we don't We do We don't want her to, but the store wants her to be arrested for taking the things that she shouldn't have, and she knows better. And she'll probably tell you that. But unfortunately, she has to go to jail tonight. Okay? Clearly, her family didn't deserve to go through this. Next, the conversation with police only exposed her total irresponsibility as a parent. She showed no real concern for anything at all. >> Excited to go back to school? Why not? I'm bullied. Well, you know what you're supposed to do if somebody bullies you, right? Tell, but nobody cares. That's not true. That's not true. We don't like that. We You know we have deputies in every school, right? You tell a deputy. You tell that person to stop to leave you alone, and then you tell a teacher, or you tell the the That's not nice, and that shouldn't be happening to you. You're a nice boy, right? That shouldn't be happening to you. People shouldn't be mean to you. People shouldn't Nobody should be mean to each other, right? >> But they only bully me. Why do they bully you? What do they say? They say I'm fat. You are not fat. I know that. That's mean, right? That's real mean. But you know what? You're going to a new school now, so you maybe you make new friends, and you won't have that problem. But if you do, if somebody's mean to you, you tell them to stop it, and you tell a teacher, or you tell the You tell any adult. You tell your mom, you tell your dad, you tell your grandfather, you tell anybody. So, just so you understand what's going on. They They might not have pursued charges, but she's done this multiple times in this store. In this store? Yes. I don't understand. I gave her money to go I get sleep aids and tea. I'm like, go to Dollar General. She's been doing this, apparently. Okay. And that's not the It has nothing to do with your soda, buddy, okay? But and grandpa will explain everything to you. Her grandfather believed he was still supporting her financially, yet she went ahead with the act anyway. Worse, she showed no sign of learning from the experience, ignoring all advice from the police. Why do you keep stealing? Your dad just said he gave you money. He did. He gave me $20, and then I just came here to see if they had my mom's sleep aids here. Why did you steal? Because I've been locked in my house for 9 years with a husband who controlled me. >> What does that have to do with you stealing stuff? >> money or anything. What does that have to do with you stealing stuff? And setting a terrible example for your son. Ma'am, you don't have to tell me how to be a mother. I understand. >> Don't tell me how to be a mother. I said you're setting a bad example. I understand. Multiple times. Yes, you're right. You're 100% right. Thank you for admitting it. And I hope you didn't tell your son that you forgot to pay for it. I didn't tell him that. Okay. And you're really giving your husband, I don't know if what's going on with your divorce. You said you're going through a divorce. You're giving him ammunition against you to get possibly get your kids taken away from you. And your dad just said that you just got released for this, so the judge is I I just got released because I cashed a car, and they violated me. Okay. Well, you're on probation, and they're guarantee you that the judge is probably going to violate you. And now, you're stuck in jail. Why did you open up the wrapping if you weren't stealing it? I didn't. I broke it in half. I threw the other half. Why? Why not? Who cares? I don't get it. Why would you destroy the packaging? >> Why would you destroy the packaging? So, you're setting example for your son that he can walk around the store and just ripping open the packaging. Well, I don't know if you heard what your dad said, but he said he doesn't want to go to stores with you, because he doesn't trust that you're not going to steal anything. The woman, both an irresponsible mother and an untrustworthy daughter, felt no shame for who she was. The shock didn't end there. Police soon began uncovering items from her bag. You got more money in here. What's in there? THC. That's a felony. No, I have a med card. Where is it? It's not on me, but you can look it up with my name and number. When you have something like that, you're required to have it with you. And you know that. >> [snorts] >> I didn't know that, actually, cuz my deal he works in the dispensary. I don't have to bring my med card. I can bring my ID. Because they can look it up. But once you get it, you are legally required to have that at all times. Then Yeah, I know. The bong socket's in there. So, why did you lie about it? Cuz I felt stupid. Cuz you're like, "Oh, there's a bong socket." I felt stupid. You know you can lose your medical marijuana license for not abiding by their laws, right? You should know that. It's your responsibility to know that. >> having your driver's license. >> being so mean to me? I'm not being mean. I'm being blunt and honest. You're being mean to me. Just because you don't like it what I'm saying doesn't mean it's mean. I'm being mad It's a It's a statement of fact. It's your responsibility. >> know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I'm not being mean. I said it's your responsibility to suffer the consequences, right? What? Do you have an EBT card? Yeah, there is something on me. They charged you with this for not following the rules and your by by medical marijuana card. The woman was charged with shoplifting [music] items valued between $100 and $749, and scheming to defraud under $749. Even when given support and guidance, reckless choices and repeated dishonesty lead only to consequences. Ignoring advice and exploiting others [music] trust sets a dangerous example for those who look up to you. In the next case, the woman turned a lighter into a ticket to jail. Just for what? What do you Stop resisting. >> What? For what? What do you want from me? This is not right. For what? This is not right. >> Have a seat. >> I never did that. I never aggravated somebody. On January 2nd, 2025, police received a report from Dollar General about a woman who shoplifted merchandise and pushed a pregnant employee, then walked away as if nothing had happened. At that point, officers approached a residential area believed to be the suspect's place of residence. Hello. How you doing? Do you uh mind if I talk to you for a minute? Well, I need to talk to you for a sec. Ma'am, I need to talk to you for a second, okay? I want to talk about Were you at the Dollar General earlier today? No. No? No, no. Do you know what happened there? No. I don't know what you're talking about. You don't know what I'm talking about? No, sir. Okay. I went to go get some food at Publix. You went to get some food? Where'd you get a food Where'd you get food at? Oh, at Publix. At Publix? Yes. And you didn't go to the Dollar Dollar General at all? All right. Um so, listen, we have we have video footage of you in the Dollar General. Okay? So, I'm just trying to get your side of story on things. Obviously, you were there, so what what happened? That's not what I said. Why are you changing the story again? Come on. I'm not I woke up there I I just told you I woke up. Okay. I got worse food on my mouth. I want you to prove it. I said she had a uh I'm tired. At the I just forgot. I was Sorry. I just threw up at Publix. All right. Um and uh and I just walked out of Publix. And I Publix, I watched Peach The woman completely denied her presence at Dollar General. However, within her tangled account, officers still identified multiple suspicious inconsistencies. I know you before you said you ride your bike all the way to Daytona, so Oh, yeah. I usually ride my uh cruiser bike, which is upside down right now. It's upside down? I mean, I have a uh 16 in wheel on it, but uh uh it's actually at the Well, I'm sorry. I just I did Well, you did screw up the spot of the tire. I'm too tired. I'm just so tired. You don't have your bike here? I have my bike here. You do? I thought you said it was upside down somewhere. No, it's upside down. I took off the tire. I have to thin my tires leaking out, and I usually put some in there. Is it in the back? Um yes. Do you mind if I just look at it? No. I do not. I will not. Okay. I'm going to go to I can't hear you. There's nothing else I can tell you right now. So, you weren't you weren't at the Dollar General at all? You didn't go there to get a lighter? No. No, no, no. Okay. No, I got you food from Publix. Um and I What time was that? Honestly, I think It was 10:30 about 10:30 about an hour and a half Did you remember what time you went there? Cuz it was this morning? 9:00 and I gave them 10 minutes walking distance. You want to see that? I can Yeah, were you wearing that that you have on? Um no. I wore um I just wore gray pants and uh I'm like uh I don't know. With every question the officers asked, the woman appeared hesitant, as if she had to think through each answer carefully. At that moment, another officer at the store clarified what had actually happened. So, she's been here before. She's always up to no good doing stuff. But, usually we don't call the cops because they don't get to her in time, and it doesn't make a difference. But, so she comes she comes back in by the time I come up front, and she's trying to pay for the lighter. I'm like, "Whatever, I'm just going to let her pay for it so she can go." She doesn't have any money for it. She's like digging around, and then she's like, "Can I just get a cheaper one?" I'm like, "Fine." And really, I'm just trying to get her out. >> Yeah. So, she grabs another one, and she's trying to give me like change, and I'm telling her like, "This is not enough to cover the lighter." And she's like, "Well, didn't I give you change? Didn't I give you this? Give you that?" And she's just like skitsing out or whatever. And I was like, "You didn't give me enough." And um so, I'm walking over there towards the lighters with her, and um she's trying to walk out with it past me, and I was like, "You're not leaving with the lighter." And then she just puts her hands on me and then goes out. She and she like pushes you out of the way. Okay. You have video of that, ma'am? Or anybody can access it? Um I can see. Okay. Are you the manager? >> Yeah. Okay. Yeah, before I came here, I mean, we were relatively close. I looked all over the, you know, Plaza, Publix area kind of thing. I don't know if she's probably in the Coincidentally, a witness who was also present provided additional details about the woman's assault. Go ahead. Okay. No, you're good. You can continue where you Oh, so um the lady said a dollar 44, Right. and she gave her a dollar 30 or something like that. >> Yeah. And the lady sh- the the cust- the employee said, "You didn't You didn't give me enough." And she's like, "Here." And she like threw a penny or a dime, I don't know what it was. And she said, "I'll just steal it." So, the lady goes down, and the the employee goes out, and she said, "You're not You're not leaving." Yeah. And she's standing there, and the lady, you know, as she's going, she's pushing her. And then she open-handed pushed her. So, that's when I went out, and I said, "How dare you put your hands on a pregnant woman for a lighter, you you crackhead?" God did I I I was so livid. And um I said, "Over a lighter?" She took Take off towards like Town Center or something? >> Well, she went behind. So, Oh, I see. Okay. Yeah. So, I don't know if she like I tried to look in the woods, like there were some balloons back there, but I didn't I didn't go to chase her. >> find her, but I'm sending out like a attempt to locate and everything like that. >> She had a silver bike. Looked like a >> Yeah. It looked like a pricey bike, [music] you know. Um A mountain style type bike? Like a cruiser or what? A bigger one, not like a BMX or anything? No, no, no. Definitely like a high you know, high style, but she had something over her face. Looked like she maybe had a wig on. Yeah. Um I guess she the manager, the lady she pushed, said that she comes [music] in often and like does this kind of time and like return stuff or tries to return things to get like beer and cigarettes. Yeah. Yeah. Thus, the story was not fabricated to harm the female suspect. It was the truth. At that point, police approached her you using a pretext intended to divert her attention. What? No, you guys, this is like the fifth time you guys come over to my house. Miss, let me What I'm saying is we've had some car breaks in the area throughout the night. And we noticed your car was unlocked. We want to make sure nobody has taken anything. tried to get into your car. No, it's fine. It's fine? Thank you. Can I help you? Do you want to check your car to make sure? Why would I want to check my car? I'm sorry, what is the purpose of you To make sure nobody broke into it. Who called? What is the purpose of your arrival? >> Two Two houses down, there's somebody's car that got broken into. We're just making sure every neighbor around hasn't got anything taken out of their vehicle. Uh no, I don't >> We just want to make sure so we can document it appropriately. >> No, no, no. I just want to get this car out of here. Okay. Um I don't know. Maybe Is it your car or Um it's mine and my dad's. Okay. We just want to make sure. Well, it doesn't even run. Um yeah, I don't know. I don't think so. There's nothing really in there. It's unlocked, so we just want to make sure nobody was trying to >> Yeah, it's not even running. It It's I don't know. Something's wrong with the radiator or um What do you call it? It's It's like a one-speed or I noticed the uh window Yeah, it's fine. The window is broken. It is? Yeah. I guess we're supposed to pick it up on Monday. I don't know what to The police plan appeared to succeed when the woman stepped outside her house, but only once she fully entered her yard did officers reveal the true purpose of their presence. Maria. Maria, stop for a second. Come here. What do I need? What do you I need to talk Listen, okay? I don't need to stop for you. >> Yes, you do. Okay, listen to me. >> want? All right. So, right now >> eighth time you guys come around. Like you guys always stop over here. >> Okay, listen. You're going to jail reference For what? >> Listen. I'll tell you in a second. Soon as you Can I get my Excuse me? Stop resisting. Are you serious? For what? What do you want? Stop resisting. What? For what? What do you want from me? Otherwise, put them. What are you guys arresting me for? >> Close it. What are you arresting me for? >> We'll explain to you in just a minute. So, you're going to jail for aggravated battery. You pushed a pregnant person at the Dollar General the other day, okay? I never pushed anybody. >> did. We have you on video. >> pushed anybody. >> We have you on video. I never pushed anybody. >> We have you on video. Aggravated battery? I never >> on video. >> I paid for my lighter, and I was trying to get out of there. That's another charge. You were shoplifting and aggravated battery, okay? Can I Can I let me see the ticket, please? What ticket? Aggravated battery? Yeah. I never pushed anybody. I just wanted That's why she was blocking the entrance. You're right. You put your hands on her for what? I did not put my hands on anybody. You can't block the entrance. From the very first moments officers appeared, the woman completely refused to cooperate, which resulted in an additional charge of resisting. Only after being arrested did she begin demanding that the situation be addressed. Can we have a I would like to see the video. Can I get a No, that's not true. You guys are sitting You have anything on you, Maria, that's going to poke me, stab me, or anything? Okay, with the back of my hand, I'm just going to check, okay? Nothing? Well, I have to if you're going in the patrol car, so with the back of my hand. Nothing? Okay. Are you kidding me? Aggravated battery? >> Yes. Go ahead and get in, okay? This is not true. It is. It's not true. >> video. You're lying to yourself. >> on the side of the road. Get in the car, okay? Give me a ticket. Give me a ticket. Give me something This is not right. >> them once you get to the jail. Have a seat. >> This is not right. What? This is not right. >> Have a seat. I never did that. I never aggravated somebody. I would never do that. That's up to the judge to determine. Where's the judge? Put your feet in. Oh my god, are you kidding me? Oh, are you going to secure that? >> Yeah. The woman tensely denied everything, but moments later her tone softened. Not out of cooperation, but out of pleading. What's that? Um I would never hurt anybody. I would never start a fight. >> have to hurt anybody. It's the pushing, okay? I I never No, no, no. >> To get out of the store. I I never No, no, no. I was just trying to get out of the store. >> is what I'm saying. I swear to god. I swear on my life I would never push her. I would never do that. >> She was um honestly I gave her the money and I think I was 10 cents short. Um can you grab my cell phone, please? Yeah. Can I see your Miranda card, please? So, listen. I'll talk to you later. >> When you're So, you did go to the Dollar General that day? I It was on the 2nd? I don't remember when it was. I don't know. >> But you remember getting a lighter and stuff like that? Um I don't know. I don't I remember Yeah, I remember getting the lighter. Yeah. Yeah, but I'm not sure what the date was for it. Okay, no problem. But it was during the day and then you got out of it Were you riding your bicycle then? I don't I don't recall. So, when you're leaving the store, did you push anyone or No, I really didn't. Finally, the woman was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant person and petty theft. Denying the truth and resisting authority only made the situation worse. Accountability and cooperation at the right moment could have prevented far more serious consequences.
