I come to work every day hoping that I can make a difference I actually seek out and enjoy the calls where I feel like I was the the right officer that showed up that day where you have a connection with somebody you're able to build relationships you're able to you have prior knowledge to some information that I don't know helps you solve the crime or you have something in your past that you are able to connect with a crime victim or even suspect and make them feel at home I currently work for East precinct and our neighborhood response team and have been there for a little over a year prior to that I've been pretty much on patrol my entire career at East precinct I worked for our special property investigations unit probably about ten years ago I did that for a couple years and patrol is kind of where my heart is and where I enjoy working the most. I actually I really enjoy spending time with my kids and I enjoy being I enjoy being a mom and I also enjoy my girlfriends my girlfriend time I have been fortunate enough to maintain friendships that I've had for over 20 years and I try to see those ladies as often as I can my girlfriend and I drink wine and baked like cookies it's not anything fancy.I made it sound way more cooler than it was but we just like I have a shirt that says let's drink wine and bake crap. even after I arrest somebody and I'm taking them to jail you know especially drug addicts because that's what I deal with a lot and heroin is a very it's it's everywhere and heroin to me is a scariest drug especially once you're injecting it it's very hard to come back and most people you talk to they try and try and try and so it's trying to talk to these people and letting them know that they're human and that you know I try to give especially the younger ones like you still have a lot of time left it would be a benefit to our society you know you know go get clean get sober I know it's not easy but I think in the long run it'll be easier than the path that you're down now so trying to If I can be that one person if I can even over the life of my career have one or two people come back and say hey thank you for having that conversation with me that one day it really helped motivate me to you know be a better parent to be my mom again or to be a mom again because a lot of these people out here have children that they don't get to see that they're not raising but if you know if anybody can come back and say hey I decided to change and you have played a role in that then that makes me that makes me a job worth it that's why I come to work every day.
