[Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] w [Music] I joined the cadet program because I was interested in law enforcement I wasn't sure if I wanted to be an officer but I wanted to learn more about it um the ins and outs of the job what an average day is like the cadet program is a great learning experience it's also a lot of fun I feel like I learn something new every day every week we have meetings and we train and every week I feel like my skills get better and I improve on certain things and then once you go through that you have kind of a continuous like field training program where you go out with other senior Cadets you go out with officers a lot and you get a work the street it was awesome you're you're in a uniform different than the police uniform you know minus a lot of the tools that a sworn officer would wear but it gets you in the car and out there you know in the street seeing what a police officer's jobs really like there's very few experiences for high schoolers for college kids that put you in the shoes or you know right there next to someone who's carrying out their career it's it's a great Apprentice program and a great way to expose you to a career field and a profession my favorite part about being a Cadet is setting a good example um for younger people uh interested or not interested um I am also a football coach baseball coach and wrestling coach um and so it is brings me happiness uh to see those kids faces glow up and hey that's coach Brandon um he's doing something positive um these days we lack positive role models in our communities and I hope to be one of those positive ones that people can look up [Music] to
