I stayed behind them, didn't let him turn on me. I said, "Don't turn on me anymore, please." With the employees certainty and the recovered merchandise, the evidence was difficult to deny. Yet, the suspect continued to deny everything and showed no intention of admitting fault. >> All right, ma'am. [snorts] Can you uh give me your name, please? >> I didn't feel a mothering my receipt in the back. >> Hold on. Can you spell your first name for me? >> I ne e >> slow down. Okay. The police then asked what items she had supposedly purchased on the receipt, but the receipt did not exist. >> All right. What were the the things on the receipt? Shampoo and conditioner and a perfume. >> Shampoo, conditioner, and perfume. >> And a perfume. >> And a perfume. Okay. Do you mind if I check your purse for your for the receipt? >> Well, I can get it. I know where it's at. >> No, I I you're okay, Bruce. Right here. I can do it. I will search for the receipt in the purse. Is that okay? So, is that a Yes, I can go through your purse. >> All right. She gave me permission to go through the purse. No receipt. When uh what time did you uh purchase these items? Did you >> find the receipt? >> No, I did not see any receipts in there. >> I told you. Let me grab it. It's in there. >> There's no receipt in there. >> I just bought the items not that long ago. I'm not >> Not that long ago. How long is not that long ago? >> Before I entered that restroom literally >> before you entered the restaurant 5 to 6 minutes before she called you. >> 5 minutes before she called you. >> Well, there's no receipt in your purse. And >> I have a receipt and you check and they're saying that there was no sale. >> All right. Well, I'm telling you I have a receipt. I'm not stealing. What are you going to take me to jump while I have a receipt? >> Okay. Okay. Can you listen up to me? All right. You have the right to remain silent. >> Dumb piece of >> Oh. >> The suspect acted impulsively, believing she had the right to do so, but that decision only brought an additional charge against her. >> Gross. You have the right this time >> to a lawyer. >> The moment you have the right mother. >> Stop. >> Stop kicking. >> Grab your leg restraints. Grab your leg restraints now. Get the offing ass. You guys are a bunch of >> The woman was charged with theft, assault on a peace officer, and harassment, and she was permanently banned from Burlington Coat Factory. Denial may challenge an accusation, but aggression, assault, and threats only create new evidence and new charges that cannot be blamed on anyone else. Next, this woman treated shoplifting like it was nothing more than a joke. >> All right, you're most likely going to be going to the county jail. >> All right. >> All right. >> Huh? I wish state I was getting all this opportunity. >> On the 13th of November 2024, police were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report of a shoplifting incident. The female suspect had reportedly returned the merchandise after failing to take it out of the store. So when officers approached her, she acted innocent. Hey, >> how you doing? Fine. Stop. Byebye. You're detained. Okay. >> Okay. You're >> okay. >> How you doing? You have your ID. >> Yeah. >> You don't. Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. It's right here. I'll put it all back. >> Jackson. Now, >> walk with my partner. >> All right. >> Is that your shoe right there? >> And what you talking the card? I was sprinting. >> Huh? >> Oh, no. Yeah. >> He never said the car. Hope I put my car and stop. >> It's off. >> I'm not talking. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> I'm talking to you. While this woman was being arrested, another older woman remained outside in a car. After watching her friend get arrested, she immediately began apologizing when an officer approached her. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I I'm having a hard time. Can't get my phone to work. >> Okay. I'm sorry. I'm on a call right now. >> All right. You have to go park in a parking spot. >> Okay. Where do you need to go? >> Probably one minute. >> All right. Listen. I'm going to get somebody. >> Can you start a couple roadies to the Walmart South, please? This lady on a >> huh? >> Yeah. >> I saw But is it or miss from? >> From matter. Yeah. any uh two. >> She is two. Yeah, she has two. It's right there. We'll go I'll figure out the rest of the headquarters. >> Yeah, we'll take her to figure it out. You be under arrest for retail stuff. Okay. >> Once again. >> Yeah. female subject. That's what she got arrested for cocaine. That's what >> Yeah, but it wasn't in my position. >> No, I got No, that's why >> that was her. >> She got arrested for >> Yes. And in the following days, she got football. >> Are you homeless or you live out northwest? >> I live on the hurricane in the back. >> Because she had nothing to verify her identity. Officers took her to her car before transporting her to the police station to continue the investigation. >> You have anything on you? I have everything. >> My female's going to check your head. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> You like it? >> Yes. >> I like it when I got a job. >> Why don't Why don't you go get another one? >> I I been trying. >> So aggravated. >> What do you get? So long, you know, waiting to come back. Answer, answer. I go, I go and then they say, "We'll call you. We'll call you." That type of thing. >> All these retail stores are going to be hiring for the holiday season. >> Oh, yeah. I know. I heard that. I heard that yesterday. >> Helton. >> Oh, my partner should have, but we just got hit with like a bunch more thefts, so we're in the process of just doing all this right now. Okay. >> There's almost a >> Andy, >> is that a female or nah? >> No. >> Okay. Don't worry. >> Oh, you got one there. >> Yeah. Yeah. Don't worry. Thank you, bro. >> She claims she was unemployed, unable to find a job, and was actively looking for work. But judging by her appearance and the jewelry she had to remove at the police station, she hardly looked as desperate as she claimed. >> I'm going to uh start taking all that off, please. I wish Elton stayed. I would give him all this. I just take it off. >> Beautiful jewelry. >> That's it. >> That's it. >> No anklets. Yeah. Ankles. >> You want the one sock? >> Huh? >> Do you want the sock? >> Sock? Yeah. It just it just I go back for you. >> No, you just empty. >> Yeah, this is shaking. >> You're good. Put it on. >> Call Posiello. >> Just to confirm. Calling Pello. The officer then verified her identity and found that her record showed she had prior convictions >> probably. But the thing the reason why you're in the county and not getting released is cuz from what I could see right off the bat, you have two prior retail theft convictions of guilty. Two or more retail theft of guilty, you go to county jail. And what right when I pulled pulled up pulled it up they had last year had last year in 2022. >> You aware of those cases. Where did you go from? >> Yeah. remember where you >> yeah where >> boy >> I Got you. >> I know it's cold. I don't have nothing. >> What jackets? >> Put on these old [ __ ] I'm sorry. I don't I'm quick with the paperwork. All right. >> I said I'm quick with the paperwork and you you hold me to it. >> I'm very quick. >> So once my partner gets here and searches you, >> I'll knock this out in 20 minutes. Max, I just got to wait for a supervisor to sign. >> Okay. >> My paperwork's quick. This is a very simple thing. You pass all points of sale. LP saw sworn statement, match description given. You know exactly why we were there. You have prior convictions. That's all it's going to read. >> She was arrested for retail theft after officers discovered she had two prior retail theft convictions. Her attempt to appear innocent could not erase what her record already showed. When someone keeps repeating the same mistake, even a simple theft can lead to much more serious consequences. Next, this woman stole mail from 63 different homes. >> Nope. I'm going to take this right here. I'm going to take your hands. We're going to put your hands. Right. All right. >> How long have I been am I just being paid or >> you're being detained? You keep kept these cuz they may had the cards in them, right? >> Yeah. But some of the papers u I'm not trying to get close to you. >> No, you're fine. You're fine. >> On the 22nd of March 2025, police arrested a suspect who had stolen hundreds of pieces of mail from multiple residences by riding an ebike from house to house before fleeing into a store. When confronted by officers, she denied everything, but her behavior immediately raised suspicion. >> Okay. Okay. >> What am I being disaginal investigation is all you need to know right now? Okay. So, you're not free to go. Come out with us. >> Grab yourself. Don't worry about it. >> Okay. Can I call my um >> N take this right here? I'm going to take your hands going. All right. All right. >> How long am I being Am I just being detained or you're being detained? We'll talk about in a few minutes. >> Okay. >> I'll grab yourself. Don't worry about it. >> Stuff fell on the floor, sir. >> This stuff fell on the floor. Do you buy it? >> Uh is this one here? >> Oh, yes. Don't move and it won't stuff and I your nerves. >> Yes, I did on the camera >> in there. Hold on one second. You said you dropped stuff in here. >> Um, it was the toilet paper. I had to go get out for it from here. >> Afterward, officers entered the restroom she had just walked out of. And what they found in the trash can seemed to say it all. She was clearly the suspect they had been looking for. >> What stall were you in? >> H. Take this, please. >> Hey, 11 on two. >> We've got her 1012. Got her out of the bathroom. Told her she was lawfully detained. Went into the bathroom. There's all the mail with the addresses in the trash can in here. >> Dollar Tree, Dollar General, or Dollar Tree. >> Dollar Tish. Yeah, I I'll grab her stuff real quick. We'll go outside. We'll chitchat. Okay. What was your name, Miss? >> Uh Miller. >> Okay. Well, Miss Miller, we're going to go outside and chitchat for a moment. This is all your stuff, right? >> Yes, sir. I got some that I can get a number of. >> Miss Miller, let's go out and chitchat. Is that That's not your purse, too, is it? >> I guess it is. >> That one right there. That's This is yours, Miss Miller. Right here. This is yours. >> Yes. >> Okay, perfect. Sorry. >> Where you coming from? >> I am. >> Miss Miller, I'm going to cut right to the chase. >> Okay. I'm going to give you the one chance to be honest cuz we all know why we're here right now. Okay. So, what in the world will compel you to steal all that mail today? You're running around here looking like freaking Santa Claus. Um, I did not have that bag to begin with when that woman stopped me. Okay. >> Um, I was actually holding on to it for a friend cuz he was actually going up the road and doing it. >> Who's your friend? >> Um, her name is Rachel. >> Rachel? Yeah. >> Rachel. I don't know anybody named Rachel. What's her last name? >> I don't know. She's a redhead. Uh, she tricks. >> She tricks? >> Yeah. >> Goodness gracious. >> She named a friend called Rachel to shift the blame onto her. But was her story believable or was it just something she had made up? We need to take your sunglasses off just for a second. I know it's bright out here, but Well, not quite yet. >> My phone. I know. I'm going to have to have um a number to get bonded out. >> Yeah, you can you can get your phone and go with it. >> I'm going to get a bond, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Hey, so she's coming on the passenger side moment. >> So, you were you and this girl Rachel were paid by somebody to to bring it to the house on 8th Street. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Who paid you? >> Um Red. >> Red's like the theme of the day. Okay. So, you got Rachel red hair, you got red hair, and Red paid you to do it. >> I have red streaks, but yeah. >> Okay. So, how much were you going to get paid for this stuff? >> Um, I was supposed to get paid $200. >> And then Rachel the same or she get more? >> I don't know. >> I do know that the the house up there got raided here recently. >> Why is some of it thrown away and some of it's not thrown away? >> Um, >> what was that, Miss Miller? I'm sorry. some uh they said that when we do those emails so that it doesn't look like there's so much stuff being brought there >> um to actually feel and see if there's cards in it and I that's what I did I felt it >> and to see if there's any cards in it and >> so yeah I noticed all these are the cards >> huh >> all these are the the cards here so this yeah you keep kept these cuz they may had the cards in them right >> yeah but some of the papers u I'm not trying to get close to you >> no you're fine you're fine >> papers in there are Yeah. Yeah. >> I just didn't want to take the time to completely open all of the info. >> It's a lot to open. I don't blame you. >> This is the first time I've done this. >> First time? >> Yeah. >> She claimed she was being paid to do it. But while examining the stolen mail, officers noticed that the envelopes containing cards had been opened. That immediately raised more questions about her story. >> The problem I I believe you that you were paid to do it. Okay, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt there. The only problem is is that all the surveillance footage that we obtained in the last hour from all these areas only show you, Miss Miller. They don't show any other redhead or anybody else with you. >> Rachel was also going down the road and getting I got the bag from her before I even got down that before I even started going down those Daytona app. Sir, >> she used to be with a guy named Duke. >> Duke. >> Yes, sir. And this is my uh friend. I don't want to lose her bike cuz she's going to kill me if I do. >> Oh, this was used in this was this was used in the commission of an incident right now. >> Yeah. So, yeah. No, >> my sunglasses and my my mount is a go. >> Yeah, you can put your sunglasses back up. >> I'm sorry. I'm trying to be as helpful as PO. You can raise it back up because I know that's more like you're you're seems like you're either unwilling or unable to give up any associ looking like to me is it's looking like it's all just you. >> No, I can I will be rolling >> there. Laura, take a picture of this. >> Miss Miller, can you do me a favor now? We can have a seat. You can rest yourself. I'll help you down. >> Yeah. Uh they are in >> Okay, I'll get them for you. here. >> Lighter in there? >> Uh, no. The lighter is right there. >> All right. >> Yes, sir. >> Right here. Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> I'll help you down. >> All right. Thank you. >> Um, if you >> There you go. >> Um, thank you. >> Shortly afterward, she shared a little about her personal circumstances, which may have been the reason she turned to stealing. >> Is that your phone or is that your phone? >> Um, that was my boyfriend's phone. That was mine. Who's your boyfriend? >> David Ortiz. >> I don't know. Is he [snorts] local? >> He's the reason I got clean. >> You got clean? And why are you doing this for money and not seeking a real job? >> Um, I'm printing job applications. And I'm not going to lie, relax. So, >> oh, sweet on Hard. What's What's your flavor? Meth. >> Meth. Usually after all this is done, you could call my dad and let him know that I'm going to do it. >> I thought you said my stepdad. Okay. I was going to say I thought you just said he just died. >> He's my street He's basically my street dad down here. My >> street dad. >> Yeah. >> What's his name? >> Uh John uh Whitman. >> What does a street dad mean? >> Somebody that looks out for me. >> He's not selling you out or nothing. Is he >> selling me out? >> He's not working you. >> What do you mean? Tricking. >> Yeah. >> I don't trick. >> Okay. >> My mother told me when I was little I believe that. >> Well, if that was the case, I'd like to go after the guy that's making you do that. So, if you're saying no, I'll believe it. Is it going to be several charges in one or is it just going to be one big charge? >> Probably just going to lump it into one big one. Depends on how many. But now it'll be one charge, but there may be multiple counts. >> But I will have a bar. >> I have to see. >> And I also hate to ask. Um, the hair tie I have in my hair, is it solid black? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Not the big one around my head, but the one that's the ponytail cuz >> it looks all black. >> Okay. Cuz if not, can I have the one that's on the ground? Cuz they won't give me a haircut. The woman was taken into custody and charged with 63 counts of petite theft and fraudulent use of personal information. Her circumstances may explain why she needed money, but they did not justify stealing hundreds of pieces of mail and targeting other people's personal information. When she chose crime as the solution, the consequences quickly caught up with her. Next, this woman even crashed into a police car while trying to flee. >> Nothing was stolen. What did I steal? I didn't take anything. >> I didn't steal. I accidentally hit your car in a panicking moment cuz I'm doing things that I shouldn't be doing. I'm honestly telling you this. >> On the 3rd of November 2025, police received a report about a white Alpha Romeo linked to a counterfeit $100 bill at Eastland Mall. Later that evening, they spotted the same vehicle again, and this is what happened. >> Command, passenger, open the back door. Do it now. >> Both hands where you can see them. Put your hands up. >> PUT YOUR HANDS UP [screaming] NOW. >> NO. Put your hands Get out of the car. >> Get out. I don't give a Get out of the car. >> Get out of the car. >> I can't. >> Squeeze. >> Can I get out the front? >> No. >> Can you help me? >> No. >> Get out of the car. You're going to get bit. >> Okay. I I can't. You're too tight. >> Keep trying. Walk backwards with your hands up. Walk backwards. Go. >> Can I get a face? >> No. No. >> Co's over. >> No. I've been Look, I got in a bad car accident. I messed all my teeth up. >> Yeah, when you ran the squad car. >> No, I got it. I got >> I remember you. I see you. >> No, I got hit from behind. Why you taking my car? >> I'm taking your car. >> We're going to seize it now. >> So, not your car no more. >> Hey, uh, Nick, you want to help me? >> Wait, can I get my stuff out? >> Stop talking. Just stop talking right now. Can I get my ID out my purse? I'm trying to give you guys what you need. What? My ID and everything is in my car. Can I get my ID out? I'm just asking. It's in the back. >> It's all my stuff. All of that is mine. I'm traveling from out of town. All of that is my stuff that I already had. Clothes. Halo. Nobody's in the car. Nobody's in there, guys. Nobody's in there. I won't lie. Nobody's in my car. All of that is my stuff I already had, guys. I'm traveling from out of town. The woman offered explanations as if she was already preparing for whatever officers might find in the car. She also immediately asked about bond, showing just how familiar she was with dealing with police. >> I don't know yet. We'll see. >> Officer, my money. Can I get my purse? How am I going to find out if all my stuff is in the car? >> It's either no bond or no bond. It's >> Can I get all my stuff out the car, though? >> I don't know what's yours and what's stolen. >> Nothing was stolen. What did I steal? I didn't take anything. >> Real quick. Okay. >> I didn't steal. Now wait a minute. Now somebody's lying. I didn't steal anything. I didn't steal one thing. So what happened? What happened at the mall with my brother? That wasn't even me. >> Just so you know, you're the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be against you. >> I'm not a thief. I didn't steal. >> You're the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her present with you while you're being questioned. >> Everything in my car I had already when I got you don't have a car anymore cuz we're seizing it. >> But you cannot afford to hire a lawyer. One will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. >> Do you understand the rights? I've read. Yes, but I already had a >> my purse and everything is in the car. My rent money, everything is in the car that I already had. >> So, who's the car registered to? >> It's my son's car. It's not even mine. >> Where's your son at now? >> Out of town. We just moved out of town. Where did you move to? >> We moved past Indianapolis. Like 4 and a half hours away. Indianapolis. >> You live in Indianapolis now. Okay. Why did you come to Bloomington? >> I came to Bloomington cuz I was here to see someone. >> Who did you >> I came to see my brother. He came to see like a girl. >> What street does he live on? >> I really don't know. We was using a GPS. You have my phone. So we went So we went to the mall. He's like, I want to do a little shopping. We just did a little shopping. Looked around. They didn't really have anything. We left. >> What stores did you go to? >> I don't know. Like two like a coffee shop or a Nestle shop. And then >> a pretzel shop. >> No, I never went to a pretzel. >> She seemed extremely worried about her car, desperately trying to keep police from touching it. She then continued making excuses for her actions. But were they really true? >> I'm asking you. week. >> I accidentally hit your car in a panicking moment cuz I'm doing things that I shouldn't address. I'm honestly telling you this. I don't know the new >> What's going on? >> Oh my Let him get his food. I'm sorry. Let him get his food, guys. It's all my >> I teased him like 4 days ago. I don't give a [ __ ] about that. >> But listen, you don't know how hard life is right now. Like, you don't understand. You guys have a career. Like, people are really trying. >> Excuse me. Can I get my coat, my pants? Can I get my purse, my money, my anything? How am I going to get out? I cannot. And all of my stuff fell over in the back. I was tagged when you guys rammed me. >> Yeah, sounds good. >> Her tone changed completely when speaking to the officer versus talking to someone else, making it clear she was trying to avoid responsibility. At that point, police directly confronted her about why they had come. >> Bloomington, you're passing fake bills. You're crashing into squad cars. >> I didn't do it. Yeah, you did. At the mall at the pretzel shop. >> I didn't I didn't hit nobody at the mall at the pretzel shop. What are you talking about? >> No, the fake $100 bills you gave. >> That was my brother. I wasn't me. He came up to me. He said the boy you was with. I was looking for him. He was already out of the store. >> You took off running from the security. >> That wasn't security. It was some guy. And I didn't know what he was talking about cuz it wasn't me. It was my brother. >> Okay. Do you know your brother was pacing fast? >> No. That's what I'm saying. He asked me to stop at a couple stores. I DIDN'T KNOW. I DIDN'T KNOW. >> Why did you flee from the police? >> Because I didn't know what happened. I got scared. Honestly, >> you know, we do like 300 traffic stops a day and like 99.999% of them don't flee. >> I think you fled because you're committing crimes down here. >> I didn't want to flee. I should >> Well, there's a car block you in and then you hit that car. >> Just get a mask. Please >> be honest. Please. If this is your daughter, I'm just asking for a mask in my coat. >> Do you have an Illinois or an Indiana license? >> I have Illinois. >> Last is Anderson. comments. First is Nora Ida. Nora Adam little middle Lincoln. >> A little bit of weed. That's it. And I just bought him this car for college. This is up. He just got cried. He just got accepted at Purdue for nursing. What began as a simple shoplifting incident became a disaster because she refused to stop escalating. Her reckless decision to fight an officer and grab his gun turned a minor theft into decades behind bars. I was making a little bit of money on the side. Whatever. Like I didn't even mind the money. The fact that it just gave me something to do and kept me out of trouble was enough for me. The man was charged with theft and resisting arrest after his suspected shoplifting attempt turned into a heated confrontation with officers. His later admissions showed that he understood exactly why honest work kept him out of trouble, yet he still chose illegal ways to make money. This arrest was another reminder that knowing the right path means little unless he was willing to stay on it. What do you think about cases like this? When someone chose to justify their crimes instead of taking responsibility, they only pushed themselves deeper into consequences that could have been avoided. >> Yes. I have a question. >> Yes. I did it. It's I already talked to you. I did it. >> My guess is somewhere somewhere between$300 to $5,000. Then you just all you got to do is speak to a bail bondsman and you got to come up with 10% with collateral. So three to 500 generally. I can't quote you because obviously it's up to the jails and your history and all that stuff. I don't know if you have a bad history or anything like that, but okay. It's not a violent crime. That's just property crime. It's not like a crazy amount. It's not $100,000 or anything like that. You mind if I get your ID? Sure. However, it raised the question of whether this was genuine regret or merely an attempt to appear pitiful in order to reduce responsibility for her actions. >> So, what happened? You got away with it once and thing. >> Yeah. I said I told him stuff is hard at home. >> Yeah. >> And I'm sorry. >> What's going on with home life? >> Thank you. >> This is nerve-wracking. my car because of that. >> I said I did it. I knew I was going to get caught. >> Yeah. >> Like I said, um when stuff hits you and you know you got no other choice, you do something stupid. >> Yeah. Even when she was asked to be escorted outside, she immediately focused on how she would be presented, insisting on being escorted in the manner she preferred. >> Respect. Is there any way where we go through a back door or >> um is this the back door? >> Um we can get out the back door if you want to go around the back of the building. >> I'm good with it. I have no problem with it. >> No problem. >> She was ultimately charged with felony grand theft. You >> don't have to put your hands behind your back cuz you're pregnant. So, I'm just going to put them in the front. Call him if you can let him know he didn't left. >> On the 18th of May 2023, police were dispatched to a store after receiving reports of a theft in progress. You got a piece of paper, wrapped the money up, put it in in a white piece of paper, stuck it under the What do you I don't know what they call those things. It's a what holds the money? >> Yeah, under the register. >> Yeah, under the register. Then you took the money back out, put the paper in some silver drawer, then put money in your pocket. >> Put money in my pocket. >> No, I didn't. >> Or apron or whatever you were wearing. >> Well, I didn't put no money in. >> Look, I must call you. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I ain't got a choice. It's not a felony. >> When are they inducing your labor ration? >> Huh? >> Huh? That was the money when I deem these. >> Is that your mother? Hello. What? Where are you taking her to? Exactly. >> Uh Clark County. >> She's going to Clark County, ma'am. This is your mother. They are letting her make some calls with I don't think they can really let her make too many calls. I asked her for her. The woman neither admitted nor denied anything as she seemed to understand that her words would not change the situation. At that point, the police made their decision. >> You coming with us? >> George, go that way. Go that way. >> You don't have to put your hands behind your back cuz you're pregnant. So, I'm just going to put him in the front. >> Call him if you can let him know he didn't let I'mma double lock these so it don't hold on me this way. In the end, she was charged with theft. Actions in a workplace environment are heavily monitored and documented. And once clear evidence exists, personal circumstances or denial do not override the consequences. >> I don't think they're clean though. You're not under arrest. Like we said, you match description of somebody that stole items from Carter. Okay. You have to run. >> Yeah. >> This is all Carter. >> On the 23rd of March, 2024, police received a report of a theft at the Carter's store. The suspect was believed to have fled the scene afterward, but based on the collected description, police approached one subject. These were what happened at that time. >> Hello. >> How you doing? >> How you doing? >> I'm officer Morales. Okay. Um, basically want to talk to you about something. You match the description of a female that we're looking for right now. Why you out of breath? What's going on? >> Oh, no. I was on the phone. I I just got wet. >> Okay. >> You match what? >> You match the description of a female we're looking for. You mind if I get your ID? >> Yeah. >> I match the description. Did you uh go on Cardis at all? >> Did we do what? >> Did you go to Cartis? >> I had brought something from there. >> So, you brought something from there. What did you get? >> I got my receipt and everything. >> Okay. All right. We'll just get your ID and then we'll >> we'll confirm if it's you. All right. >> All right. So, she do got a Carter's bag. So, she's brought up out of my receipts and everything. >> So, just ask. >> Copy. I'll be honest. >> Oh, she got a Carter's bag. >> Beautiful. She tried to deny her actions, but the store had a different account. >> Called you guys as she was running a corner and her [clears throat] breasts were suddenly huge because she stuffed all the product down her shirt >> um and into her purse. >> About how much did you think they took? >> Like $1,000. >> $1,000. >> Wow. >> You could ride and itemize her seat. >> We're out with one of the females. Um she does have a Carter's bag, but we'll be at the Nike store. >> Everything. What What did she say about Carter? What was the one you said about Cardies? >> All right. They're at the Nike store. At least one of them. Are you able to walk over there and I need them? >> Uh, ma'am, can you just step out the car for me, please? >> Okay. Let me see your bag. Arrest. All right. You just detain right now. All right. No, I ain't under your phone over there. Okay. Okay. Well, right now you're just going to be detained. Okay. So, I have to place you in cuffs. >> I don't feel detained though. >> You're not under arrest. Like you said, you match description. Somebody that stole items from Carters. Okay. You have a party and once they come over here where they saying it is or not you, then we'll talk to you on that. Right. >> Oh, that's not all my stuff right there. >> That's why I said like once they confirm it is or not you, if it's not you, then we'll let you go. If it is you, then we'll have a talk about that. Right. We'll head back there and look at cameras. You guys got cameras, right? >> Yes, we do. >> She denied everything, but she did not realize that even the smallest details had already raised the officer's suspicions. >> They're stealing from Carter's. You have a lot right there. >> Okay. But you have a Carter's bag. Okay. And you know, we have to make sure that everything's accounted for in that bag. >> Okay. But um that's what we're here for. >> And it's just kind of a little suspicious that you're you're not even in the driver's seat. You're in the passenger seat. So where's your friend? Where's who? >> Where's the driver? >> My sister. >> Yeah, I'm waiting on her. She She start. >> Wish we can grab two of them. You know, one is better than none, right? You want me to put your phone in your pocket so I don't get that? >> How long it's going to take to get over here? >> Who? >> Who you waiting on? >> I'm waiting on my partner to see. >> Basically, they go bring somebody over here. All right. Say whether it is you when it's not you. Like I told you, if it's not you, then we let you go. If it is you, then we have a conversation. See what they want to do. Right. >> Okay. >> I want to see where my partner's at. The radio is for right hand >> restrooms. >> Police attempted to locate a second suspect, but no results were found and the focus returned to the original suspect. However, she showed no intention of providing any information. >> I'm not taking off the cuffs. >> You want me to call her with the cops on? >> You have the phone in your hand with the cuffs on. >> I know, but that's all comfortable. You're >> just being detain for right now. >> Probably take some not. >> Okay. Did you leave with Burger or you still here? >> She gone. >> Okay, perfect. We'll do a warrant for her and then >> you're going to be taking a ride, too. You can hang up the phone. >> Taking a ride. What? I didn't steal anything. >> I I have my stuff right here. I didn't steal anything. >> Did we recover the items? >> Uh, >> those are the those are the items that apparently she paid for. I didn't right you trying to take me to jail and I didn't take anything. >> Well, they have you on camera. >> I didn't take anything. >> Well, it says otherwise you did. >> Where is it at on camera? Tell her to show me. >> They looked at it already. >> They already looked at >> that's what they called us. They gave a description. They found a description of your sister and stuff like that. >> I mean, you taking a ride. She's not. She said she ain't here. She have a warrant out for arrest. >> You're saying you paid for these? >> Yes. >> Is there a receipt in here for these? >> Okay. Immediately afterward, police searched the woman's vehicle and what they discovered heightened their suspicions, leading them to believe these individuals were not ordinary shoplifterss. >> Big bag up here. >> Cool. So, we need itemized receipts for that. >> They're uh >> Is this all yours? Oshkov. >> I don't know. >> Yeah. >> The other suspect driving license. >> You want me to run it? >> Yeah. This is going >> This is all Carter's. >> You want to grab one in the middle? >> This one's heavy as hell. >> That's our stuff, too. >> Yeah. This has all tarters. >> I dropped one. It's going to have a felony hold on it. >> Huh? >> It's going to have a felony hold on it. >> Why would it have a felony hold on it? >> Because I'm putting a felony hold on it. >> Why are you putting a felony hold on it? >> Because they're using this to commit a massive amount of retail theft and fraud. >> But Vina just got me from the jail. They let her use her phone, so I can't get >> Gotcha. Well, regardless, the other girl was nice enough to leave her wallet and ID and everything. >> Three days later, the remaining suspect could no longer bear the pressure of guilt and turned herself in shortly afterward. >> Were you at the window? >> Oh, what? How can we help you? >> I'll need some property. >> What kind of property? My wallet or my phone? >> We're just going to step through these doors here. If you wouldn't mind just putting your phone on the counter here and just go ahead and put your hands behind your back for me. >> In the end, the suspects were charged with grand theft from Carter and petite theft from Old Navy. The outcome of this case showed that evasion only delays the inevitable. When evidence builds and pressure increases, responsibility eventually surfaces and those involved are forced to face the consequences of their actions. What do you think about cases like this?
