You don't stop, you're going to get tased. >> Why are you chasing me for? >> Turn around. That fell and broke. I don't know. The cologne. Yeah. On June 13th, police chased a woman after suspecting her of being involved in a shoplifting incident at a mall. But what shocked everyone was her reaction after her failed escape. Keep watching to see what happened next. You don't stop, you're going TO GET TASED. WHY ARE YOU CHASING me forward? >> Turn around. >> You get over here, too. If I got to take off and chase you, I'mma tase you. >> Put your hands on the hood. >> Spread your feet. >> It was clear that there wasn't just one suspect. The woman recklessly tossed her keys to someone in the distance, revealing just how coordinated they were. Even the process of handcuffing her became a struggle. >> Give me your hands. Give me your hands. I bought that. >> No. No. It's going to be obstruction and shoplifting. >> I bought that. I bought that. How far are you? >> There's more. >> You still got a video? >> No, the other one took off. I could only get one. >> All right. 343. Show me the area wrong. What door? >> Notice that the officer hadn't even said anything when he brushed past her bag. Yet, she instantly claimed the items were hers, exposing her lie, especially when a shoplifting tool was found. That's a magnet remover, right? Yeah. >> I told her I was going to chase taser. I'm chasing it through the lot. The other one get away. >> I'm a mom, too. So, it's >> so clearly it's been ripped off. >> I mean, it doesn't work, guys. That's nothing. If this came from everybody less than 100 bucks, >> we have to follow the camera to see what they just came. They I'm guessing he had a backpack. He kept >> so I'm guessing it was full of stuff too. >> 95 see if I can fall on camera. >> And just get a tag if you can if you >> Yeah. >> And it seemed this wasn't her first encounter with police as both she and the person beside her started suggesting ways to avoid going to jail. >> We just pay her ticket. And >> it ain't up to me. It's up to took off. >> I understand. We appreciate it though. >> I'm a mother, so I know how to get >> B. The police. >> I wasn't. >> She probably was. >> Yeah, I'm good. >> But I got to go. Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Okay, hold on. Give me a second. >> Stand up. >> All right. Love you. >> Okay. >> You mind riding getting a ride over around? >> Can you put my hood on? >> You put your hood on? >> Yeah. >> That's fine. Put your head back so I can put it on. >> Wait. >> I got your phone. Yeah. Not right now. >> The woman was then taken to the store's loss prevention office where she refused to answer questions while officers radioed an additional shoplifting related charges. >> The county for preparation of burglary. >> Why don't you say no? That's no. Where do you know? >> Hello. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay, I will. I hit the way in a little bit. >> This is like a magnet. >> Yeah. Okay. >> This is what was broken. Sorry. >> You want >> I'm just going to take a picture real quick and put in a bag. Yeah, if you got a bag, sorry. >> I'll bring you back a uh Yeah, I guess I'll 1353. The woman was charged with shoplifting and obstruction. She thought she could outsmart the situation, but her own actions, running, lying, and carrying theft tools only made the consequences unavoidable. >> Can I just pay for it? >> If that's the case, no. >> I was in a You know, I was I I don't understand why. And that's what I'm saying. I'm not lying to you. >> Who's J? On the 25th of February 2025, the police received a report from Walmart stating that they had detained a woman for shoplifting. When approached, she claimed it was all just a mistake. But what stood out was her complete lack of remorse. >> Child support knows me. I don't have a warrant on me. I'm always in here. This is the first time this ever happened. I've never been involved, never been arrested. Sherry at the at the customer service knows me and and my little family that I come in here with. So, I mean, I've never had this happen. That's why I told him I said, "You have no identification on you?" >> I I I just got out the hospital a couple hours ago. >> But you have no identification. >> No, I don't. I I >> What were you in the hospital for? >> A female. >> Okay. Just I'm not trying to get personal. >> Um do me a favor. Just have a seat for me. >> I didn't really want to sit down. I like I said, I just don't know if she has that going on. I do >> just find a trespass because unless you guys want to find out something cuz I don't know if she's >> he said I'm on camera so I have no reason >> what exactly happened >> what happened >> she was walking around the store with her family and grabbed bags so the store conceal went to the customer service to pay for two gift cards and attempted to walk out. >> Okay. Did she pay for those gift cards? >> She paid for the gift cards. >> How did she pay? >> I believe it was cash. I can search it up. >> I actually my I actually uh used my uh son's debit card. >> Your son's debit card? >> Yeah, I still doesn't help me. We're going to try this one more time. >> I have. >> Although she wanted to resolve the situation quickly. She carried no form of identification on her, which raised serious suspicion and led the officer to voice his doubts. >> How old are you? >> Um 43 years old. Okay. >> So that's what I was telling him. Listen, listen listen to what Listen what I'm going to say to you right now, okay? >> I didn't start doing this job yesterday. >> Maybe this is your first time. Maybe you're It isn't. Through experience. >> Through experience. 28 years of doing this. It's typically not someone's first time, especially when they don't have ID. We can't find any record of you in the Secretary of State system. There's a problem. >> So, here's here's here's what's going to happen. Okay, we're going to do one of two things. One, I'm going to ask you for your name and date of birth. Again, you're going to give me the correct name and date of birth and and I'm going to find you. I found >> if I can't find you, you're going to have to come with me at the station. You are going to be under arrest. You are going to get fingerprinted. >> I have no reason to lie, sir. I don't have anything. I was with my sons. Like I said, I use my You can ask the >> You can drop a hundred names of people here that you hear all the time. >> I'm not trying to give you a false story or anything. >> I I have a job to do and everything is on camera. >> That's why I didn't even give him any any any hassle. Okay. So, is your married name Wilson or your married name? >> My name is Wilson. It was Bill Bro. He just asked me to give him what was before then. >> Okay. Have you ever been arrested? >> No, I have not. And we just moved from downstate Illinois. >> Okay. You've always lived in Illinois? >> Uh before then? I was when I was a baby in California. >> Did you ever have a state ID or a driver's license in the state of Illinois? >> Yeah. Which one? >> I was telling him I had a ID and a driver's license. >> Okay. Have you ever had a driver's license or a state ID from any other state? >> No, I have not. >> Okay. The investigation continued before taking the woman away, but she did not stay still, repeatedly interrupting as if she could change the outcome. >> If she cash >> I didn't pay a card on I paid he paid cash, I believe, but that was he was just I I didn't I didn't make the purchase. That was just for bought for my youngest son. I just had the receipt and he was like, "When's the last time you made a Walmart purchase?" And that was the last time I So, >> okay. So, here's here's our receipt. >> You want to cut her? >> That's on you. I can't identify her. I have no idea who she is. We've tried everything possible. That's just not >> only I have no problem taking. >> I mean, you're going to have to come. That's good. Spell your name again. >> I A L E. >> Not you. >> A S H L E Y. C I S N E R. >> Says, >> I'll remember this one day. I promise. I said a lot of names in my head right now. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> Officer Martinez, >> can you please search? brother had anything on me. >> By this point, the woman realized that her words alone would change nothing. So, she began turning to other tactics, even dragging her own family into it. >> Can I just pay for it? >> If that's the case, no. I was in a you know, I was I just got out the house and I was in a car with my son, my 10-year-old. That's what I was saying. That's a full gift card. You can hear him. >> That's a feel like a gift. >> Okay. Well, I'm just looking. I mean, I wouldn't lie to you, sir. I just got out the hospital. And like I said, you can ask Sher at the service. She knows me. >> I cannot identify you in any way, shape, or form. I have tried running your name a million different ways. Nothing comes up with you. >> That's what I'm saying. I I I don't understand why. And that's what I'm saying. I'm not lying to you. >> Who's Jan? >> Uh that's my uh sister. >> Okay. All I'm saying is >> her her short is short for actually those are uh uh >> am I going to find anything in here with your actual name on it? >> I don't have I just got off the hospital so I have that medical card information. That's all that is sir >> from DHS. That was just information that you contact to get your medical card. That's all. >> That's what I'm saying. I have no reason. >> Well, here's the thing. If I can identify you, I don't got to go through all this. >> I have no reason to lie to you. I I'm giving you everything. >> But you're giving me every reason to not believe you. >> Okay. Well, search. I'm telling you, I have no reason to lie. I have I have no I've been combated with anyone. I have no reason to lie. >> During the search, officers discovered documents bearing another woman's name, and she seemed to fear something. Immediately cutting into speak. I just wanted to show some people. So, >> I showed them like, well, I'm sorry. I didn't cut you off. I showed them my I wanted to tell them like, well, my little tax exempt card is in there cuz, you know, I uh uh teach and so you can use the tax exempt in the green and you bring your actual letter in with your name on it and give you like a gray card and I laminated it, but you can't see it's on there. I have no reason to lie. >> There are there are many reasons to lie. What I'm trying to explain to you, >> ma'am, I can't even identify you. How can I tell you if you have warrants or not when I don't even know who you are? There's no way the state of Illinois wouldn't have some some record of you. >> That's a public storage receipt from my suspect. >> So you got a bunch of information about her sister. >> Well, only reason only reason I got the information about my public storage receipt is I paid the day for where she and the only reason those is actually just me calling DHS to get my medical information transferred while I was in the hospital and that's it. Okay. So, here's what's going to happen. You're going to go to the station. We're going to have to fingerprint you for identification. Once we can identify you >> once No. >> No. Once we identify you, if it's not if it's your first time being arrested, you're going to get a citation on scene and be released. >> If you have prior my kid with me, can I >> If you have prior arrest, but I have my kid. How old is your kid? >> He's 10. >> And who's he with? saying he's he's with uh the other adult, but that's what I'm saying. >> Who's the other adult? >> My oldest son. That's what I'm saying. >> How old is your oldest son? >> He's 26. So, that's what I'm saying. >> Well, then they they are more than welcome to come on down to the police station. >> Let them know. That's what I'm thinking. >> We'll let them know. >> Even as she was escorted to the vehicle, the woman showed no sign of shame, continuing to do as she pleased and even saying whatever she could to try to manipulate the situation. >> This is ridiculous, you guys, for all of this. $100. I have $100. Do you have my phone? Do you have my phone? Can you see if the mayor has my phone? >> Have a seat. >> You if he does, I need to know. I don't have it. >> Okay. You have to go to meet me at the Go to the house and I'll call you when I get to the station. >> All right. >> Have a seat. >> Can I call you when I get to the station? >> Hold this for me. >> You guys, I have my 10year-old with me. Can we really not do this for this? I promise. Can I just >> sit right for me, please? Please, please, sir. Can I just pay for I don't have my 10-year-old with me. I don't want to go. >> I need you to sit back for me. >> I'm back. I'm back. It's It's strangling me. I'm back. >> I can't sit too far back. I don't want to crush my hands on. She had to put them tight cuz my wrist are little. But I'm saying I have my 10-year-old with me. Can I please just pay for that? >> He's with your grown son who's 26 years old. >> No, but I still he has seizures. She was charged with retail theft as she passed the last point of sale without paying for the concealed items and was taken into custody for identification through fingerprinting. Actions have consequences no matter how small the situation seems. Dishonesty and poor decisions can quickly escalate into serious legal trouble. >> Sorry, I just I just shot like please I just got hit with wild. On the 10th of March 2025, police received a report about a woman shoplifting at Target. And when they arrived at the scene, it was truly strange to see her acting as if she had just been rescued from something. Keep watching to find out what happened next. >> Who is going to >> Is this like a fence thing? They send you in here to >> All right, let's go back. Okay, that's fine. I'll go back. >> Uh, let's let's hold off on that. You supposed to just wait on you. >> No, I'll just wait a couple time. >> All right. >> Thank God this over. Thank God. >> Thank God. >> This is over. I don't have to do it anymore. >> They send you the whole list or something? >> Yes. >> It's good. >> You can tell us like you think they're right there. Uh, I don't know if it's still here. Not the problem. But it's a gray Honda with Ranger. >> Gray Honda. Is it older Honda? >> Huh? >> It's like a 2008. >> Sorry. Just I just So I'm just shout out like please just let me I just need to hit like ever since this started like two and a half months ago. Like I met him. He was like, "Hey, I'll give you a drug if you go ahead and give me some stuff." I was like, "Okay, [ __ ] I'm a girl, so I'm not going to try to pay you." sometime. So, >> I mean, I know it's not an excuse, but >> it's like a fencing thing. >> Sir, >> it's like a fencing where they get people coming. >> Yeah. Yeah. And then they sit and wait for you to punish you. Yeah. >> All right. But are they like looking out? Are they part of it or they just telling you to go steal and you get to >> part of it? They look out and they'll wait by the door and call you and be like, "Hey, it's >> Did they call you?" >> Uh, no. I guess they probably gone cuz they don't know. >> Okay. Where was that parked at when you came here? >> And they're not there no more. >> Uh, I don't know. I guess. >> All right. Let me throw that out. Let's go back in there. >> The suspect admitted that she had agreed to steal, but claimed it was because her boyfriend had encouraged her. While inside the loss prevention room, she continued to act as if she were an innocent victim with no guilt at all. >> Talking me into doing it and steal stuff. He's like telling me I have to get this stuff from him or it's going to consequences. Like he also like helps me out, I guess. >> Who's he to you? He's like, "Okay, it's a guy I met on Facebook and like after we linked up or whatever, he gave me his number, but after like two or three weeks when we first started shopping, he blocked me on Facebook, but he still contacted me through his number or whatever." So, we still he told me that he >> gave you dope. >> Yes. He told me he deactivated his page and stuff or whatever that. So, that's why he >> So, he's supposed to be sitting outside waiting for you? >> Yes. >> Okay. I'll see if I can some private car. >> Okay. >> Do you know where it's at? Like towards the right. Oh, it was the third row. >> Third row. >> Okay. >> She said he's probably gone, but just drop her. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I was >> uh What's your name? >> Mariah Smith. >> All right. M A R I A U R I A. >> M A >> U R I A. >> Okay. M A U R I A Smith. >> Is she getting a total all that stuff? >> Yes. >> She clearly committed criminal acts, but her face showed no shame at all, even as each stolen item was pulled out by the police. >> Did you smoke? Um, put on this. >> I don't know. What's in What is this? >> Uh, uh, bag. >> Is it theirs? >> Yeah. >> This is >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that's ours. Is it bags? >> I guess so. >> Target thing. >> Yeah, that's ours. >> And like, can you give me that right now? >> Can I give you this >> this >> in a minute? my watch >> in a minute. What you need your watch for? >> Cuz I want to put it on. So like like it would go in my property. >> Oh, you can just wait a minute. >> It ain't going to go nowhere. >> I know, but I still my property though. >> Okay. I just I'm sorry. H I can't do that. This baby and rip them. >> I don't know. Is it Is this Target, too? >> Yeah, it is. It's Target brand. It's just that they look ripped. >> It's Target, but >> I was going to ask you, >> but I I had already like had those. >> You had already have the tag off of them. >> This stuff that I wore. >> I got you. Like I said, this is the first thing you see me. When I come to the store, I get some stuff for me. You need a lot more. >> Yeah, I would imagine. Honestly, I was just I come to Target a lot. >> The woman claimed she had bought some items to downplay the situation, but that was not true. The total value still reached $780, supported by the store's video evidence. She stayed there for like 10 minutes. Oh, >> you looking at her through the thing? >> Yeah. So, I like confirmed for a fact that she was concealing before I called you guys. >> Which bag was she putting in? The black bag. >> She had all types of bags. She had the like Target reusable bags. She had the grocery bags that she selected. >> She grabbed the backpack. Um but yeah, she was just sitting there concealing for a while. >> That's when she walked away. >> What time was that around there? >> This was 11:39. She was here from 11:29 to about 11:40, >> but I'll definitely gather the rest of it um by the end of the day, >> right? And then just uh hit her when she goes out the door. >> So, she's putting all them bags that she picked up at the front. >> Yeah. And she grabbed like reusable bags that she selected like throughout the store. >> Or do they call for the reusable reusable bags? >> Yeah, they call those reusable the ones that like we sell. Oh, >> okay. >> The grocery bags are just that's what they call grocery. >> And because the woman had used fentinel, police wanted to make sure she was fully alert before giving a statement. So, medical personnel were called to the scene. >> In custody, but >> she is in custody. >> Well, I will take her to jail, but I don't think they're going to take it like that. So, Well, I mean, her pupils are normal. Oxygen's good right now. It's just a little we >> get her blood pressure. >> You smoke everything cuz >> I snorted it. >> You snorted it. >> You snorted. >> She smoked it out of this thing. >> I Okay. How much? >> Just like two and a half. >> Where you trying to go? I'm trying to go nowhere. >> Okay. >> Do you do putting on the regular? >> I mean, if you guys think that we're going to have to take her anyway, though. >> Every now and again. >> You do it every now and then. >> Yeah. >> I just do it when you tell me to relax. >> When? Who tells you to relax? >> Not my friend no more. >> Uh, can we take >> What do you mean not your friend no more? >> I'm listening. Is this a living human being that tells you to do it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And he tells you to relax. So you smoke fentanyl? >> Whenever I go in the stores, you just relax. >> He tells you to relax? >> When's the last time you saw this friend? >> Today. >> Today? >> Yeah. >> What's his name? Although she was assessed to be in relatively stable condition, the suspect did not make things easy, using the medical evaluation to her advantage by continuing to portray herself as a patient rather than a perpetrator. It's okay. >> There, you know, there are resources we can go to. >> My mom, she want she want to rehab, but why not? >> You can. It's that you don't want to, >> but if you want help, there are resources we can give you and get you. You're good. >> See, I said belongings. We've already searched it all. Nothing's in it. But uh two little bags, >> huh? >> Yeah. Yeah, they are. We ought to search them. >> Don't Don't put it on, but pull your arms back a little bit away from your seat belt right here. In the end, she was charged with felony shoplifting, criminal conspiracy, and trespassing. When someone keeps blaming others and hiding behind excuses, it only deepens the consequences. Accountability cannot be avoided. And the longer you run from it, the harder the fall will be. >> We have stuff in our bag. Yes. Things that we actually needed to >> Best friends. Best friend went to jail. >> Yeah. First day. Stop hanging up. On the 6th of November 2024, the police approached two suspects after suspecting that they had concealed items inside their bags. This was what happened immediately afterward. >> How y'all doing? >> Fine. How you what I do? >> I check my blood pressure. How you doing? >> Good. How are you? >> I check my blood pressure. >> I lost 2 lbs. I went from 205 to 198. >> I lost 2 lbs. >> 2 lb. >> I don't that good. >> What's going on today? >> I was checking my blood. >> You're checking your blood pressure? Listen, I got to go to the grocery store. >> Okay. >> What What all do you do y'all have in your bags? >> My bag. >> I mean, I went over there and then I came back. So, >> all right. So, so you guys know I'm here for a reason. >> Okay. What's going on? >> What was I just say something? Clearly, both women knew what was happening to them, but they kept avoiding any mention of the items in the bags, even bringing up their circumstances as an excuse. >> Okay. What all did you guys put in your bags? >> Um, so um we're homeless. >> Yeah. >> And like there's some there's um >> 15 churches that like really help us. So >> that's basically what she was saying and I agree with her. Like we're it's hard out here. We we figured out >> and I'm a convicted person. You know what I'm saying? That's >> I mean we wasn't just doing anything. >> We have stuff in our bag. Yes. It's things that we actually needed to >> but we know we don't like stuff on on her too. >> Oh her >> that you were opening up over in sporting goods. Where were you putting it? >> Well I got I don't have nothing in my book. >> Okay. So, I'm not sure about that because on camera it looks like she was spending. >> I don't have nothing person. But either way, I can go get the the boxes, >> but I don't have go back to AP. Okay. >> We're going to go back to the AP office, grab all your stuff. >> We're going to head back over there. >> I was just about to go grab me a >> So, is that charger mine? >> No, ma'am. >> Are you sure? Cuz I'm about to pull back all >> Yeah. You want me You're back cuz I >> Yeah, I just said yes. You mean >> Are those airphones mine? They are depend all you guys have. >> I asked you what was mine. >> Street. >> So what we're not going to do is argue right now. We're going to go to the AP office. >> It's over here. You're going to turn around and I'm going to follow you. >> I didn't say I didn't say anything. >> We're just going to go over there. I said we're going to go figure it out right now. >> Okay. Do you want me to go to the employee? >> No. Uh, Santa. >> Right afterward, the store's loss prevention employee also provided several details confirming their actions based on what the surveillance cameras had captured. >> Comes up with the stuff in her purse and she puts everything >> into her purse right here. 36. >> 36. >> I'll be 10. >> Let's see. She's messing with something right here. >> Mhm. >> So, but while we were watching her for 15 minutes, she kept doing this and putting something around there. So that's why the concealment on person was called in >> because we watched the boxes get discarded >> on this one. >> You need 36 to make our way over here. >> Ma'am, do you have anything in your shirt right now? >> No, sir. I do not. >> You have nothing in your shirt at all? >> No sir. nothing on me at all. Nothing. >> In addition, based on the initial suspicion that she had hidden merchandise inside the drawstring bag in the blue bag, the police proceeded to check them shortly afterward. >> String bag in the blue bag. >> This bag, ma'am. Is there anything else in there? >> What about that? I >> I have a question. Can I Can I go in my bag and get get two cocon? >> No. Hold off on that for now. Before anything goes out the door, can we just check those blue bags to make sure that there's none of my stuff in there? >> Cuz they got a lot of stuff over there. >> Yeah. >> So, like they were picking up boxes. >> I know. I >> All right. Y'all need me for anything? >> Appreciate it. Thank you. you know, and lots of pockets. It's cold out here, so my cousin didn't want me getting cold. >> Coldest 70 something degrees. >> So, it was cold this morning. >> It was cold this morning. >> All right, you can go sit down. >> It was cold this morning. >> I appreciate it. >> Check these bags. >> I don't see her concealing anything. Great. >> She got some of the stuff right now. I think there's more stuff in the blue bags. >> So, we're going to go through the blue bags. >> Did they go through that pink bag just to make sure there's nothing else in there? >> Mm- >> Okay. Well, we still got to make sure that there's nothing in there. >> This is yours in there. >> Is there anything else in there? This is your bag. >> Yeah, there should be a couple more. >> Don't take Don't dig it in the bag if you don't mind. I just don't want that to be a weapon or something. It's for my safety and yours. Okay. Charlesap right there. >> After the search, the police decided to proceed with the arrests, showing that these women could not escape the crime they had committed. Okay. Robert Mike 4287 Raz 4287 on a white Dodge Challenger. >> I know there will be stand up for me. Same thing. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. 317 returns to a Timmy school 29. >> 28 returns to a 2011 Dodge Challenger white in color to Sanford Griffin. registration without >> I'll grab her. You want to grab that? >> You got everything you need with them? >> Yes. >> You need a shopping cart. >> Don't forget that. Don't forget that law. >> But have you ever wondered why these suspects showed no remorse throughout the investigation? Inside the patrol car, one of the two women admitted that this was not the first time she had been involved in a crime. >> Best friends best friends went to jail. >> Yeah, first day start hanging out. >> Best friends went to jail. Best friends got the same charge. I have a feeling that the judge is going to be like, "Okay, Miss you just got out a week ago. Have you learned your lesson on this front shop?" Yes, sir. For real. >> And I promise you, I put my word like >> it's embarrassing. >> It is embarrassing. I said I promise you I put this in my mama and my mama did. It never happened again. I should have wore everything white. But I didn't think I was going to do. I know my friends is going to be like, "Damn, she back again. They said me and Matt security cuz I'm a valid I got a criminal record. Yeah. Look, you got this damn this this. That's a long ass phone. I have like maybe two, maybe three on my record. >> Yeah. I had three drug charges. Possession. Possession. I'm possess burg charge fraudger forgery and fraud. I got three drug charges though but he didn't he didn't charge me with a crack rider don't do it when I get out. >> In the end both women were charged with shoplifting. When someone refuses to take responsibility and repeats the same mistakes, the consequences eventually catch up with them. A moment of dishonesty can easily turn into another trip back to jail. >> He comes up here and his zipper was down, so I saw his and he had no underwear on. >> Well, I like I said, we was just horse play. As far as I know, we was just horse playing. >> Okay. >> Like I'm not point I'm not trying to lie to you. >> On June 22nd, 2024, police received a call from a convenience store reporting that their employee had been harassed by a man. To better understand his actions, officers arrived at the scene and took a direct statement from the victim. >> I got a call Yes. >> from somebody about a assault that happened overnight. >> Yes, that was me. >> That was you. Okay. >> Yes. Uh I didn't really know what to do cuz I work the overnight by myself and Yeah. >> I'm the assistant manager running the store right now, so I didn't know who to call. >> Okay. >> He's staying at the hotel. >> Have you seen him before or Okay. >> He was staying there months ago. >> Yeah. >> And he used to come in here. I used to be the full-time overnight before I became the assistant. manager and he was like hit on me and whatever. Tried to add me on Facebook, whatever. >> I haven't seen him in a long time. He came in last night the first time, bought something, said, "Hey, what's up?" Left, rang him up, he left. Nothing happened. Second time I was cleaning the bathrooms, I heard the bell ring. I was in this bathroom right here. >> I heard the bell ring. I come out and I didn't see anybody. And I was like, "Okay." So, I went to the women's bathroom. That's the one I was cleaning. And I seen somebody go into our family bathroom. I was like, "Okay, somebody's in there." I finished cleaning the family b the women's bathroom. Yeah. >> I came out and I looked around. I'm like, I didn't hear the bell there. He's still in here. There's somebody's still in here. >> Yeah. >> And I went back to the bathroom and I seen that the door was open to the family bathroom. So, they were somewhere in here. So, I like went to the women's bathroom and I couldn't open the door. I had it propped with the dustpan. Okay. >> And I went to open the door all the way so I could step back in to get all the cleaning stuff out. When I looked, he was hiding behind the door >> of the lady's bathroom. Yes. And I was like, "What the are you doing?" And he grabs my arm, pushes me into the big stall, and he's like trying to kiss me. And I'm like, "What the are you doing? Get off me." >> From the victim's account, the man's actions could be considered an assault. But it didn't stop there. He went on to commit even more disturbing acts as revealed in her continued testimony. >> And he's like pushing me and I'm like up against the wall and like off me. And he finally was like, "You need to be more aware of your surroundings." I'm like, "What the are you talking about?" And he was like, "I've been in here and you didn't see I was in here." I go, "I heard the bell ring." And he comes out here. He's just like, "What if I robbed you right now?" I'm like, "I didn't even know what to say." Like, I'm panicking. I'm like, "Uh, it's like 3:00 a.m. >> Yeah. >> Am I going to call?" And I'm like, "What the?" And he bought something and he comes up here and his zipper was down. So, I saw his and he had no underwear on. That was trying to come on to me and I didn't know what to do. I panicked. I texted her. I said, "When you get here, we need to call the cops because he's staying over at that hotel." >> Okay. Do you know his name? >> James Sturgeon. >> James Sturgeon. >> Yes. >> Do you have your ID on you by chance? >> Yes. >> And then he tried to guide it as a joke. He said, "Oh, by the way, I was just joking." After tried to touch me in the bathroom. >> Yeah. It doesn't work like that. >> Yeah. And I told her about it. She was like, "Why didn't you call me?" I'm like, "I didn't know what to do." I panicked. >> And about how old is he? Uh, he's probably >> like 30s, 40s, something like that. >> 30s, I would say. >> Do you know James Sturgeon? I don't Doesn't ring a bell off the top of my head either. White guy, black guy. >> When he was pushing you into the stall, >> was he just kind of like grabbing your shoulders or just kind of like holding your arm? >> Arm and was pushing me. >> Later that same day, the suspect was found at a shopping area and officers immediately proceeded to detain him. stop me for no reason. So, I mean, I didn't, okay? I didn't stop you for no reason. We don't do that. You see all these other people, okay? I I'm not just stopping people for no reason. Okay? You know, it's for no reason cuz you know what you've been up to for the last couple hours. Okay? So, I'm going to read you something. I'm going to ask you a couple questions. Do you understand those rights? >> Yep. >> Okay. Do you want to talk to me knowing those rights? >> For what? I didn't do Am I under arrest? >> Right now, you're being detained. Okay. >> Yeah. You're in handcuff. So, right now you're being detained. I'm wondering if you want to answer my questions cuz I got some questions for you. >> What's your question? >> Okay. Do you want to answer some questions? >> What's your questions? >> You were out at the Marathon gas station at 65 last night. >> No, I wasn't. >> Okay. So, if you're not going to answer truth, we're going to be done. All right. The Hold on. The Marathon gas station. You see, you said you didn't want you want >> the Marathon gas station is the one by Taco Bell, right? >> No, there's a marathon. >> There's a marathon by I65 by the the economy in. Okay. >> Good. It's called Good to Go. >> Here's the deal. Listen to me, okay? I have probable cause just to arrest you right now. I'd like to talk to you. Get your side of the story, okay? But if you're not going to cooperate and you're going to lie to me, I don't have no patience for it cuz I do not need your side of the story cuz I have video evidence of what occurred. All right? So, if you want to talk to me, that's why I am giving you this opportunity. If you don't and you want to lie to me, I'll just take you to jail. I'd like to get your side of the story. We can skip it. >> The man completely denied ever being at the scene of the incident, but based on his demeanor, officers could clearly tell he was hiding something. Under pressure from the police, he eventually admitted to certain details. >> So, let me ask you again. Were you at the gas station at I65 at Marathon Gas Station? Okay. So, what occurred when you went inside? >> I went to the bathroom and I a friend of mine that used to work there welcome. We was joking around. >> Who's your friend? >> Her name was Michelle, I believe. And it's been like years since I seen her. >> Okay. You say you were joking around. What What happened when you guys were joking around? >> We got the bathroom right there and we was joking around. It's going We wrestling like joking and playing around like horse blind and then we went >> like each other or what are you what are you doing? >> Yeah. Just stuff like that, you know. point like then I went and bought something then I left. >> Okay. So what >> like we was cool. We was laughing and joking. I'm right there at the counter. >> Okay. As I left. >> What were you doing in the bathroom? What was going on there? >> I went to use the bathroom. >> Okay. Which bathroom did you go to use? >> The family bathroom. >> Okay. And after that >> she was right there when I walked out and then we was joking around and then we walked out towards the front and then paid I bought some uh combos and then I left >> and and you didn't made no other actions that I would have observed on the camera. Think about what you did. Think about the things that you did. >> Not that I'm aware of. >> You're not aware. >> Like we was horse playing around. That's all I like that's all that happened. Like I'm being honest. I'm on parole right now. I'm not trying to do any of this. >> I'm aware you're on parole. >> He claimed he was telling the truth. But if his story only revolved around harmless joking, then why had he lied earlier about being there at all? Right after that, the officers directly confronted him about his disturbing actions. >> Okay. is joking around to your, you know, definition. Would that be including taking your out? >> Well, it's on the security cameras out. So, I don't have X-ray vision. >> Well, I mean, like, >> if it's out, it's out, right? >> Well, well, yeah, obviously, but like like I said, I went to use the bathroom. So, I mean, >> no, not in the bathroom. They don't got cameras in there. >> I understand that, but I mean, the only thing I had to think of is my flight was Look, the pants don't say unzipped all the time, man. >> Yeah, but I watched you unzip it and take it out. So, that's a little different. You're saying you have no recollection of taking your piss out and inside of a ga gas station? >> No. >> That's a problem. >> Like I'm seriously not trying to charge any problems, man. Like I'm like I'm >> I know you're not trying to charge any problems. I'm the one who charges crimes. Okay. >> That's not what I mean, man. Like I'm trying to do the right thing. I'm on parole. I've been doing good. I got a job. Like I'm not doing anything illegal. Like >> that's not true. Okay. Cuz that's what we're trying to talk about. It sounds as if there was some stuff occurring last night that's not entirely legal. >> Well, I like I said, we was just horse play. As far as I know, we was just horse playing. >> Okay. >> Like, I'm not point I'm not trying to lie to you. I'm not trying to do any of that. Like, I'm being serious. >> Taking your out in public is not horse play, >> right? I mean, I understand that, but like I said, I remember like point I mean, I zipped my pants before the pants come unzipped all the time. >> Well, they you're saying they come unzipped, but you unzipped them. We watched you. That's different, >> right? I mean, that's different than >> I understand that. >> You understand? The suspect still didn't realize that officers had already spoken with the victim. After failing to fabricate a believable story about his actions, he immediately continued by making up false claims about the victim's reaction. >> She grabbed me up a little bit and I grabbed her, you know, and that was just about it. Then we walked out. We was laughing. She was laughing the whole time. >> So, how did you exactly grab her up? You >> like I mean point like >> Yeah, you just explain it with your words. I mean point like I didn't really grab her like point like we was next to each other and and point when she turned around we was right there. So I mean point like I kind of like gave her a little hug, you know. That was that was it. >> Okay. And what did she say? >> I said I've known her for years. Nothing. She was laughing about it. We went right back up to the to the cash register. I bought some combos and then I left. I talked to her for a minute and I left. >> Were you like flirting with her? >> Yeah, we did it all the time. I used to live at the hotel. >> Okay. Have you guys ever had a relationship? >> Yes. >> Okay. And is that what you guys were you thought you were initiating last night again? >> Pretty much >> like if you're up >> I mean yeah like that's like me and my girlfriend just broke up so I figured she was up there working so I figured I'd go up there and talk to her and hang out like we used to. >> I got you. Go find some more company. I get >> like I'm not trying no problem. >> How'd that end? I mean you So you you kind of grabbed her. You were maybe hoping to get something out of it. Whatever. But how did it end? >> I wasn't really hoping to get nothing out of it. We was just joking around. That's all I thought it was was joking around. We used to do it all the time. Well, I mean, you just said you broke up with your girlfriend, so you went out there cuz you knew she was out there and that you were kind of grabbing on her and you used to have a relationship. >> Never said I wasing on her, but >> or grabbing on her. I'm sorry. Didn't mean to put words in your mouth, but grabbing on a little bit. I'm not just, like I said, as far as I understand, we was just horse playing, man. I I don't need the problems. I don't need the drama. The man was ultimately charged with the man was arrested and faced a series of serious charges including assault, public indecency, robbery, vehicle theft, parole violations, and several other offenses. Excuses and denial may seem like a way out in the moment, but actions always speak loud. Worse, the woman even used her behavior as a way to make things more difficult for others. >> Never stole nothing. I've never taken nothing. They came here and he came back and said something in handcuffs. Stop resisting. >> I ain't resisting. >> Stop resisting. >> I ain't resisting. Hands behind your back. >> I am resisting. >> On January 22nd, 2026, officers responded to a grocery store after receiving a report of a woman causing a disturbance there. Upon approach, the woman clearly showed how tense she was. >> Hey, I don't know. >> I just purchased this. >> Okay, come on. Listen to me, sir. No, it's not okay because I don't like it and it's going wrong. It's going left. These people just told me this. >> He said, "I'm I'm in here. I ain't supposed to be here. I'm at work." >> My client said across there in that building right there >> at the apartment. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I come here every Tuesday and Thursday. I've never stole nothing. I've never taken nothing. They came here and he came back here and said something to me and I told him, I said, "No, I ain't never took nothing. I ain't never done nothing." He said, "Well, we want you out here right now." "Why would you want me out of here right now?" And I'm I'm purchasing my food. I ain't done nothing wrong. >> No. No. I wasn't. >> You have a driver's license on you and ID on? >> I don't have nothing on me. >> Can I get your name real quick? >> My name is Sha's mother. >> Hold on. >> See, and I don't even like this. >> Okay. Well, I just got to I just got to find out who I'm talking to. Can you spell your last name for me? Come down for a second. You know what I'm saying? >> I can't come down. >> Okay. Listen, listen. >> No, no, no. What's your date of birth? >> Look at you. You here for me? >> I am and I got to get your information. >> You here for me and I ain't done nothing. >> Listen. >> She believed she was the one who needed help at that moment. But instead of cooperating to resolve the situation, she kept acting panicked, making it difficult for the officers to handle the situation. >> You want to Do you want to Did she pay for this? >> I don't know. We don't know. Do you have Do you have a receipt? >> Nope. Let's go. I'll show you that I paid for. I had a link card. >> You have a link card? Well, do you have a receipt? >> I had money and it came up here before I could pay for anything and do anything. I'm asking they can't me. >> All I'm asking you is did you pay for it? >> I ain't even walk no door. >> Okay. I don't want nothing no more. >> You don't want anything anymore. Okay. Come on. Come on. Come over here with me. >> You ain't got to talk. >> Okay. Come on over here with me. >> No, you ain't even got to talk to me no more. >> No, it doesn't work like that. Okay. >> It does. It does. >> No, because they're asking you. Listen, ma'am. >> He asked me to leave >> and I'm and I'm escorting you out. Okay. >> You can escort me out, but you don't have >> What's your date of birth, miss? You don't have to get anything from me. >> What's your date of birth? I have to identify. >> No transaction transpired. >> Okay. Listen. Hey. Hey. I'm still on. >> Okay. Can you Can you >> Can you walk out here with me so we don't cause more of a disturbance? >> He always caused disturbance. >> Okay. But you're the one yelling. Okay. So, would you like to walk out? >> Let me I didn't bother. >> Okay. I'm asking you. You know why I'm yelling? Because I have been falsely accused. >> Okay. I'm going to ask you one more time. Okay. >> I'm going to ask you one more time to exit the store. >> I'm going to exit the store. >> Come on. mind is the store. But you can't you can't >> I'm going to ask you one more time. >> You can't do nothing with me when I enter the store because I don't have nothing. >> Don't be banned from the store. Okay. >> Don't mind me, man. >> Okay. Come on. >> Now, can you give me your date of birth? >> No. >> Okay. >> Under the officer's persuasion, she agreed to step outside the store. But that was also the beginning of her growing disregard for the police. >> Listen, I'm done. >> All right, sir. >> Stop. Please don't. Please don't touch. >> If you don't stop, I'm going to put you in handcuffs. >> I ain't I'm not going to explain how this works. I don't care. >> You're recorded. I'm recording. Okay. >> So, there here's how this goes. >> I ain't got nothing. I ain't stole nothing. >> Are you going to listen to me? Will you listen to me? >> Will you listen to me? Will you listen to me? No. No. >> I'm a black woman. >> I'm not doing nothing. So, I can explain to you. Okay. I >> YOU'RE GETTING TOO CLOSE TO ME because you're not You're not listening to me. >> But you're getting too close to me. Please leave me. If you don't stop, I'm going to put you in handcuffs. >> YOU GOING TO PUT ME IN HANDCUFFS ANYWAY. >> NO, I'M NOT. I'm trying to black. YOU GOING TO PUT ME IN HANDCUFFS. >> You being black has nothing to do with anything. It got everything to do with it. >> I come from a multi-racial family. You don't know YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. YOU JUST ACMPED ME ABOUT SOMETHING TO YOU ABOUT ME. >> I'M TRYING TO EXPLAIN TO YOU SOMETHING. You're not telling me nothing. I >> If you're not going to listen to me, I'm going to put you in handcuffs. I just I didn't steal >> and then I'm going to identify you that way. >> I didn't steal you. >> We're not saying that we got here. >> She believed the racist card was the move that helped her defy the police. But that very action also meant she would no longer be leaving easily. >> Listen. All right. You're going in handcuffs. >> Hey. Yeah. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. >> You're going in handcuffs. >> Stop resisting. >> I'm resisting. >> Stop resisting. >> I am resisting. Hands behind your back. I am resisting. >> Put your hands behind your resisting. God don't like her. >> We've been trying to work. >> Shortly afterward, the officers returned to the store and learned what had happened through the employees statements. >> He came out >> and was mad with another worker about styrofoam plates. We don't have any, but they've been out for over 3 hours. So, when she got here, they already weren't there. She was mad saying that well the one she was mad at went back there and started talking about her but she went back there to tell everybody else we don't have any plates. So when I heard she was cussing I came around and she was in place talking of like saying you and you up and I'm coming for you all that. And so I told her we haven't had any sources for a while and she got in my face and said no I got the last one. You remember I got the last one. I said, "Okay, whatever." You know, I know she didn't, so I'm not going to argue. And when she got on my face, that's when I smelled my breath. >> And I know she Yeah. And that's when she like shoved me. And she she didn't do it hard, but she don't touch me. >> Did she kind of do like this or >> It was like a Well, you don't know. >> Okay. >> It wasn't like a attack, but it was don't touch me, please. >> Okay. And so that's when she kept getting more mad and I could tell it wasn't going to like get fixed and I kept telling her it's all well and she goes I'm fine but you're not. And just kept saying stuff like that and she kept coming back and just standing there. >> So I called back and once I back she got even more mad and then started doing that all over my face again ma'am and she thought he said do >> so she went really Yeah. And then that's when told me to just walk away and I've stayed away since then. >> In the end, the woman was charged with battery, trespassing, and resisting arrest. Refusing to stay calm and cooperate with officers during a simple investigation, only escalated the situation and turned a minor incident into serious legal trouble. Next, this woman believes she could hide everything. >> He's charged with resisting arrest. Could you just please give me my coat and MY DAMN CIGARETTE? ME? I DON'T KNOW. JUST GIVE ME MY COAT AND MY CIGARETTE. On January 11th, 2023, officers were dispatched to a Nordstrom store to apprehend a woman for shoplifting. And upon arrival, the scene outside quickly turned chaotic. >> I just try doing a budget return. All this stuff? >> Yep. Right. >> Our fight. >> No. >> Going down with grandma. >> She answered the officer's questions with ease as if she had prepared in advance. But when faced with deeper inquiries, she began to evade them, raising suspicion. >> Is it in your name? >> No, my car. I got a Malibu. >> Oh, Malibu. Whose name is it? >> I don't know who's driving. >> I I just needed a wire to come in and change my car. My friend. >> What's his name? >> Oh my god. What is all this about? Why? And the suspicion surrounding the woman never eased as when officers once again questioned her identity, she began to panic. What's your uh what's your social security number, man? >> I don't know my social security number, by the way. >> What street do you live on in Nashville? >> I don't live in Nashville anymore. I live here. >> What street is on the ID that you provided the other officer? >> What happened? >> You gave the other officer an ID, right? >> So, what is all this about? >> What street? >> Oh my god. >> Did you live on in Nashville? >> I don't understand. But I beep because of those two shirts that's in there from Macy's that we supposed to be going to take back. And that that stuff that's in that I didn't even beep cuz I wasn't even out the door. >> So what? >> Dang. She just took my bag and said that I I beat when I went out the door. I didn't even go out the door. The lady in front of me beat. >> I hadn't even made it out the door. >> I'm really living with my old January in the world. At this point, the mystery surrounding the woman came to an end as officers took action after confirming all the information from the store. >> Go to jail. >> I'm about to go to jail. >> Sorry. >> What's up? >> I'm about to go to jail. >> Yep. >> Stand up. >> Are y'all serious? >> Yeah. >> We don't take kindly to people walking in here and stealing from our town. >> Oh, wow. And you're you're banned from Nordstrom Rack for two years. >> I don't have no money. >> Tell us it' be a lot easier. Like car we just stopped or is it this one here? >> It's the other one. >> The one right here, Jordan. It's this one. >> No. What other one? No, it's the one. I don't Which one is it? >> I just think it's gray. I don't know exactly. Don't lie to me. Promise I'm not lying to you. >> You're lying. You lied this whole time. >> NO, I'M NOT. I I DID NOT LIE. I don't >> So I I mean, am I going to get a eyebrow or something? >> I don't know. >> Can you help me please? Like, >> oh, you stop lying to me. Tell me what kind of car is that. Maybe we can help you. >> I don't know what kind of car it is. I just know it's a minivan. I don't know what kind of car it is. I promise I don't. >> Some type of minivan. >> Are we sure it's a minivan? >> Yes. >> At this point, you're under arrest. >> She was charged with retail theft, possession of stolen property, obstruction, identity theft related offenses, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Actions built on lies and evasion only deepened suspicion, honesty, and cooperation could have prevented the situation from escalating into serious charges. >> Box of six. I think she only scan one. >> But why, sir? Why did I scan? I really thought that you could be real, sir. >> On the 27th of December, 2023, police were dispatched to the loss prevention office of Walmart after staff detained a woman suspected of shoplifting. And the moment officers arrived, the suspect immediately used her very first seconds to beg for herself. >> Please, please don't do that to me. Please. >> Okay, >> look, I will do whatever I've got to do. I'm sorry that I promise I was not trying to steal anything. Please do not do that. Please, my four-year-old will freak out. Please, >> I'm going to let you talk to the officer now, okay? >> Please, please don't do that. I you I think you know that I wasn't trying to steal anything, sir. It was Can I Can I Can we pull the foot footage, sir? He even thought that I stole this and I did not. I paid for this. >> I'm about to look at it. We got to go. >> I cannot believe this. >> Do you Sir too much? This is a box of six. I think she only scanned one. >> But why, sir? Why did I scan one? because your employees in the past had told me it was set and I think she would even attest to that and and I can even show you sir like at Target that's how they sell them. >> 1098. >> Additionally, police finished checking the woman's records. They discovered several other things from her past, but it appeared she tried to manipulate the truth surrounding it. >> Sorry, can you at least be real? Can you at least like be a little bit honest here? >> I'm being real with you. >> I know, but can you be a little bit honest about these? that yes, they do come like that. >> We've had this discussion. You understand that you have been paying >> for only one box. >> Yeah. And I was honest and forthcoming with you and told you that that's what I thought and that I had. >> And again, I've tried to explain to you as any warrant. >> Sir, I haven't Can I >> 3425 call? I got a 27 out of Georgia. >> I don't have any warranties. I really thought that you could be real soon. >> Okay. >> And sir, when he actually stopped me >> wanted >> I'm wanted. >> Yes, ma'am. >> For what? >> Uh, some in Elbert County. >> I've only ever had a traffic citation there. >> It might be what it is. Maybe he didn't pay a fine or something that they had. So we got outstanding traffic ticket also. I'm saying something. >> Can we check that please sir? I know who I'm giving for Elbert County. I actually have that I have a receipt actually on me that I paid for that >> because I just got into a car wreck just like 2 weeks ago. Wouldn't I have been arrested if I hadn't outdated anymore? Not they just took it out. I don't know when the warrant was taken out. I I can tell you all that stuff once we get back to the car. Go ahead and get you to stand up. Take the jacket off. >> This is a huge mistake. Also, I can I at least say something about this? >> I'd like for you to see the footage of where when I scann this, I called the employee over to make sure that everything was correct. >> She attempted to deflect the very issue the officers were pressing her about. It seems she had just come up with something on the spot purely to manufacture an excuse for herself. >> Take a look at that. I I just know about by what loss prevention said he's taking the warrants out. I'm just transported. >> But I mean, can we not at least pull just show right the associate over? >> I I saw exactly what I mean, it's six in a pack, $10.99 a pack. You you scan one. I mean, you know, they $10.99 a piece. I mean, you bought them before, right? >> Yeah. But that's not how I purchased them. They They have a thing. If you The way it's made, >> I mean, I see it's it's in a big box. You scan one of them. I mean, if you buy a big box, is it $10.99? No, it's 20 something dollars. >> Okay. See, go ahead and get the stand up for the mail. >> I cannot believe it. Can I call my parents first? >> At least to go get my daughter. I'll get your call. >> Would you let me do that, please? >> Okay. >> Were you Were you refunding this bubble bag also? >> Yeah. This This is >> No, I I purchased that. >> They They're refunding. >> Somebody got refunded. >> They refunded everything to you. >> Why? >> Because you can't take it to jail. Dad >> distance and associates. >> You don't have any other merchandise in here. >> No, I did. I I'm not I still >> During the call with her family, she still did not admit her wrongdoing. As if she refused to lose her dignity, even bringing up her prior warrant. >> Hey, I'm going to jail for a warrant in Albert County. I don't know. Yeah, he doesn't know. >> Can I talk to dad? >> Because I don't I don't think I have a warrant, honey. I paid my traffic and I think it's a mistake. Mom, >> is it I'm saying that correct? Right. A warrant. >> Yeah, they have a warrant >> for arrest. >> Okay. I know, Dad. I I But they don't. They're not Elbertton. Okay. So, they don't I mean, that's not their they don't know. But, >> you know, I thought if you I need you to get your kid. That's >> Well, >> but I'm saying I want you to go get the kid. That's that's what we need to talk about now. I can't have a whole >> Okay. So, can you have can you get Elizabeth tonight? >> That's a a baby. >> Oh, she had a baby's house. >> So, they're refunding my $100 worth of stuff I bought, right? >> Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. They're refunding. >> And the thing the item that he retained me for was $10.98. I don't know. She knows that I wasn't trying to steal, but I don't think it it matters at this point >> because of this warrant. >> Did she bring this in? >> No. Okay. >> I don't know if she paid for it. >> It's not on here. >> It is. >> Oh, I didn't We didn't >> I know she paid for it. >> I promise I paid for it. >> Yeah. I mean, I think it's 398, but then um here's her gift card for it, but it it says something completely different. >> Even as she was escorted to the patrol car, she remained strangely cheerful, acting as if nothing serious was happening, convinced that she could still somehow change the outcome. >> So, sir, were you able to at least see that I had asked the associate if that was correct? >> No, ma'am. I I just I just see the probable cause and it showed it there was six six little containers in there. Scan across one time. >> Scanned. I asked him I called the associate over and you you'll be you'll be able to subpoena witnesses. You'll be able to do all that stuff. Get get uh video evidence. >> But he even knows that cuz he even said that to me. I don't think >> and and then and you you're just step in there right there, man. >> 2349. >> There you go. I mean, >> so just so the next time I make sure I got this clear. So what is the dollar amount he's saying that I stole that I shop with it? Uh 63. Yeah, the total amount was 63 cuz you scan one of them and I guess there's six or so in the in the pack. >> Well, there's still one five. No, no, he said you paid for uh pay for the one. You didn't pay for the five. >> Okay, but that's not okay. Okay. >> You scan you scann one and there were five more. That was 1080. >> As correct. In the end, the woman was formally charged with theft by shoplifting. Denying responsibility and hiding behind excuses only made the consequences worse, proving that honesty from the start was the only chance to limit the damage. >> Did you buy them? Today? >> No. >> When did you buy them? >> Anyway, I'm not speaking here. >> Okay. You didn't plan on paying for the nails? No, >> not at all. >> Why not? >> Because I'm a queen. I don't need to pay for anything. On the 6th of September 2025, officers received a call from a nail salon reporting a woman who refused to pay for the services she had received there. But to understand the situation more clearly, they listened to the employees account of what had happened. >> So she came in for service and we done when we go ahead and pay. She have two different car but none of them work and she claimed that she want to work go look for her mom shopping >> and I I just follow her keep her distance and she just walk all the way over there and ask her where she where your mom shopping at. She's like well just call >> Okay. All right. >> Yeah. My car's not going my mother just left. >> Okay. So can you call your mother over here? >> I don't have my my friend's dad. And >> where's your mother shopping at? >> Uh she really left. She was we were shopping over here. >> Literally left. Where do you >> How were you planning on contacting her if she just let left? >> I don't know. >> But I don't know what's due. So, >> okay. Do you have your ID on you? >> No. >> Don't? >> I don't. >> You got nothing at all? Not a problem. Not a problem. Can I get your name? >> It's Leona. >> Spell it. >> L E L N A. >> L E L N A. >> Yeah. Um, >> and do you know the reason why your cards are declining at all? >> No. >> No. >> Okay. What is your mother's name? >> Huh? >> What's your mother's name? Is she anywhere in one of these stores? You hope? >> No, she's not here anymore. She laughed at me. She's mad at me. So, >> mad at you for what? >> Huh? >> Mad at you for what? >> We just got an argument. >> Okay. Did she take your phone with She take her phone with her? With her? >> Well, Probably that's probably one of my cards. >> She has asked what is in the box? >> I just got a bearded dragon. >> Nice. So, did you just buy that? >> Yep. >> So, you're to buy the bearded dragon, but it's declining here. >> Decline here. So, it's like >> clearly she repeatedly changed her story about her mother to make the officers contact her and everything became even more suspicious when the information about her mother was revealed by her with obvious difficulty. >> 832 What's mom's name? >> Yeah. What is mom's name? >> Uh Lauren. >> Do you not know your mom's name? What's What's your mom? >> Lauren. >> Lauren. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. I was supposed to say who. I didn't hear you say it. >> 120. >> Oh, 120. >> All right. Well, I'mma call it real quick. >> Hey, it's Cameron. Can you put me through to a number, please? >> Do you Does your phone have service? >> Does your phone Does your phone have service? >> I don't have my phone. >> No, I'm aware you don't have your phone. Does it have service? Like, >> can you call people from it? >> No. >> What is the point of me calling then? So you your phone doesn't have service at all and you can't call from it. >> So even if you did Wi-Fi >> Oh. So even if you did have your phone wouldn't matter at all. >> Yeah. No. >> Even stranger, she concealed her own payment card when the officers asked about it. >> Yeah. Where are those two cards at? Do you have them on you? >> They're in my bag. >> Can I see them? >> No. >> Okay, that's fine. >> No, not at all. I got to wait for him. What were the You said the name was what? >> 54. >> I don't know if you caught that or not, but the two cards that she tried didn't have her name on them. >> Why are the two cards that you have not have your name on them? >> Oh, they're on sisters. >> Your sisters? And where's your sister at? >> She live near. >> No, not really. What is not really? You're not helping yourself here. >> That's That's okay. That's still in the proximity. >> Do you have her phone number? >> I'm trying to help you out here. So, >> I don't have >> I like a little more cooperation. >> Okay. I can literally just go to jail or whatever. I don't care >> for what? You don't have to. If you can get someone to come and pay for it. >> No, it's fine. I'm not going to have anyone pay for my stuff. I can't pay for it. I don't care. >> Now, she admitted that she had no ability to pay. And what she said also made the employee suspect that she was doing something illegal. >> She's in possible possession of a stolen credit card. You think that you have reason to search her bag? >> Absolutely. >> Not you to make up lies about me, [ __ ] >> Ma'am, let's not do all that. All right, ma'am. If you don't mind, I'll search your bag so I can see for the cards. You have any weapons or anything in there besides the cards? >> No. >> No. Okay. You have anything on you >> at all? Do you have anything on you? >> No. >> Okay. And you said the cards are to your sister. Mhm. >> What's your sister's name? >> You not? Were you about to say you don't know? >> Okay. I'm not speaking to you. >> Okay, that's fine. >> No problem at all. Where do you keep the cards? Directly in the bag. It's a lot of stuff. Why are all What's all this right here? >> Beats. >> Yeah, I get that. But why do they still have the tags and everything on them? >> Okay. >> Because I bought them. >> Okay. Did you buy them today? >> No. >> When did you buy them? >> Anyway, I'm not speaking to you. I just speak to you. >> Okay. >> She clearly showed a lack of cooperation when many suspicious things about her were discovered. And in fact, she even admitted that she had never intended to pay, giving an extremely baffling reason. >> So, did you plan on paying for the nails? >> No. >> You didn't plan on paying for the nails? No, >> not at all. >> Why not? >> Because I'ming I don't need to pay for anything. >> So, you didn't plan on paying for the nails at all? >> I should be let go right now, actually. >> Like, have a great day, Atlanta, >> for what? >> Nice seeing you. >> Well, you just you just got service done. >> Yeah. Well, yeah, that's We wouldn't have gotten called if the whole card went there. >> See me like, "Oh, hey, you got it. You can leave me, >> right?" >> Yeah. Everything should be paid for. I shouldn't even have to say anything. I walk in, I get it paid for. >> What'd you get the bit of dragon for? >> Uh, for my spirit. >> For your spirit. >> Yep. >> So, for some reason, your name isn't coming back. Are you giving me a fake name? >> Nope. It's my name. >> And it's spelled L E L N A. Just like that. >> Yeah. >> And you sure you don't have a middle name? >> Sure. >> Okay. >> That was what she claimed about her name, but once again, her story changed, clearly showing that she had been lying about everything from the very beginning. >> Yeah. >> My first name is Irene, but I changed it. So, >> okay. So, how do you spell your first name then? >> I R E N E. >> I R E N E. >> Yeah. And you sure you don't have a middle name? >> It's Leona. >> So Irene Leona. >> Keep in mind I did have you spell it twice and you didn't come up with Leano. >> Yeah, but that's my name. I go by Leona. >> Everyone knows my name. >> Literally everyone. >> I don't know your name. >> I don't know who you are. >> You know your name. My name. Everyone knows my name. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> I've never seen you in my life. That's why I'm >> [ __ ] up. >> All right, man. Do me a favor. Go stand up and put your hands behind your back. Come on. This way. >> You can't take my bearded dragon. >> Oh, we'll worried about your beard dragon in a little bit. >> Will you get my stuff, too? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Thank you. Right after successfully arresting the woman, the officers checked everything and gradually their suspicions began to be confirmed. >> Choose this one. >> And that is not in her name. They're both in two separate names. >> Yeah, they are. >> So, using a card to make a purchase. >> Fraud. >> She told you that they were her were her sisters, but she wouldn't give you her sister's name. >> Yeah. No. Yeah. Yeah, she gave me >> later. >> No. >> Yeah, I heard I heard him. >> She was at county. >> Yep. She was at county. >> This morning, gave false name and then became IRA. >> She just gave me that first name that you took from her. She didn't give me that at first. >> Yeah. Well, we already have her on that. Um that's all Walmart stuff. I texted Jeff to see if >> he's missing. >> He has Yeah, he hasn't responded back to me. Um the red debit card is what she used to pay for the bearded dragon. That's not in her name. >> And the first car she gave me the red car had a candy name on it. Okay. >> Okay. I charge it and it's run by uh suspected fraud. Okay. >> She gave me another one, the discover car and they say they fly but the disco has a different name on it. >> Okay. But she she told you that her name was Kayie when you asked what it was. So she had signed in under a different name. >> Yes. >> Unfortunately. It's very cute. I would love to take it into evidence but I can't. So we have to return it. >> I feel bad for the little fellow. I assume something was up. >> It's beauty. >> Was she acting weird or anything like that towards you guys or >> She was out of it. >> She came in and felt pants at one point. >> Oh, do you have that on camera? >> That I don't unfortunately >> like completely like without your pants on. >> She the girls in grooming said she had like a white micro bikini bottom on. I said all I saw was cheeks. Yeah. >> In the end, the woman was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card. A sense of entitlement and dishonesty only made the situation worse, proving that lying and refusing to take responsibility would eventually expose the truth and lead to even more serious consequences. Next, meet a shoplifter who believed her arrest was truly weird. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Get off of me. Yo, don't lift your >> talking to me crazy. So >> 58 >> and the the total amount which is actually should have been >> 5469. >> Okay. So 504 >> 69 and then I'm sorry can you show what's the 113? >> It is 11358. >> Okay. I can run it through our system and it pops up anytime and every time she's been here, >> right? Oh, oh, yeah. That's right. You can't. Okay. So, then cuz then we'll have her IDed and then it' be a lot easier to figure that out. So, I'll tell you what I'll do then. You want to obviously you want to move with the misdemeanor charge then? >> Okay. Uh well guaranteed misdemeanor. I'm going to still try for the felony. >> Okay. >> Right after that, the employee also explained in detail how the suspect had scammed the clothing price tags. >> These baby clothes are real. Should get paid for these baby clothes, the ones that are marked on there. Like this one, the sticker on the box was like this. So that's how it was. And I ripped it off so I can scan their actual one. >> Mhm. Okay. I guess she tried like putting like other ones on here. I think that's not the correct one there. So I think she just got asked cheaper. >> Okay. So can I see that real quick? I just wanted my body camera. Actually, this is hers, isn't it? >> Yeah, that's the receipt she paid for. And like same thing with these like Nike sweaters. >> Mhm. >> This was just I I I went ahead and I scam it, but it was like wrapped like this. So, you can't even tell if you're like just walking outside. Okay. I'm going to get her going then. Um, >> and then I'll once she leaves, I'll lay this on the floor, take a picture of it, and send it to you. >> Uh, >> or do you want to just grab >> I'll probably ask golf to do it for me. And >> I'm so sorry. Men's new blank. Where'd you pull that one from? >> The tag from the code, I think it was. >> Ultimately, the woman was charged with felony retail theft. So, chill. >> Yeah. >> I mean, there's no reason to take it to another level cuz we're going to get all this figured out, >> right? >> Is there anything in this bag? >> No. >> Okay. Give me those bags. >> That's my purse. >> Yeah, I know. That's why I'm telling you to give me those bags. >> Okay. I'm going to get >> Thank you. >> No. Does she have that bag? Hey. Uh, >> detainer. Detainer right now. >> Appreciate it. Give me all this here. Give me all that. Put your hands on. >> Why don't you do nothing? Immediately after detaining the woman, officers proceeded to collect her information. It seemed she had not faced the police for the first time. >> Where do you think it is? >> It's right over there. >> Alpha 951. >> Right there. >> Yeah. >> In front of Pine. We'll get a female officer over here and take care of you. Uh we have two napkins at the station. Um I think you got any ones? >> No, I don't got three. >> Last time you were arrested. >> Recently. >> Recently. Yeah. Yeah. >> Have you dealt with that one yet? >> Nope. >> No. >> Um, we'll get all your family stuff arranged, you know, and make sure you contact um, you know, especially your grandma or your mom and let let >> let her know what's going on. >> Um, this tolling all this is going to be probably a retail felony, >> right? >> So, um, but we're not going to leave your family hanging, right? In fact, the store she stood in was merely the place she rushed into to hide the stolen items after attempting to flee from the nearby Victoria's Secret. At that moment, the store employee appeared extremely relieved and excited. >> Doug, can you step aside? >> Bag. >> Yeah. >> Pull out your bag. Yep. >> Thank you. I was just going to record. We were just checking the doors where she was. I went back there. She made some wild and ran out of store looking for her sister. Do you have >> Oh my god. >> Well, this is good. This is good. It is good. But >> um you have a place where you can just go through this, itemize it, and then >> Yeah, we're going to make a whole report and every single every single skew will be recorded. >> Very good. >> Down to the very dollar. >> And you do want to prosecute, I'm assuming. >> Um yeah, let me get my store manager. >> Okay, cool. >> For sure. Give me just a moment. >> Yep. >> Hi. >> Hello. >> It's I mean I I don't know. There's a lot of items in here, but >> Okay. >> As far as valuation, you could just uh give us an itemized list. >> Yes, we will. >> Oh my god. We were just looking drawers to see what >> Oh my god. >> Yeah, we noticed that she come back to look in the drawer. We saw that she was missing, but we didn't know that she took Beauty as well. She had a shopping bag also. >> We're going to email our AP person, but we're pretty sure we need a case number. >> Okay. Can you give me evaluation or at least uh an approximation of the value? >> It was clear the suspect acted with such calculated precision that she took the items without the employees even realizing when it happened. The quantity of merchandise was far from small. >> People come in here and just start loading up bags. >> We still We still get We still get two of them. There's two men that do it. >> Yeah. >> And they take the bras and then they leave. They don't say as much. >> So, it's not a big deal. We just report it. Get a new one. >> Do you know anyone? >> I'm sure it'll be uh just under the felony amount. But she probably has prior convictions, so that'll help. >> Well, we haven't gotten to the very sexy part, so these are just these are nothing. >> This is just pocket change. >> I'm sorry. The You said what? These panties are more expensive. >> Oh, okay. I got you. >> Sorry. >> No, I didn't know if that was a style that >> it is. We This is kind of like cotton and then we have like the very sexy. We have synthetic. >> Oh, I got you. Yeah. >> ETA. >> So, what does it have to be at a a grand? Is that what it has to be at? >> Um, no. I believe the threshold is 750 now. Okay. Immediately after, police confirmed that the merchandise she stole amounted to approximately $1,000. But look at her attitude at that moment and let us know your thoughts about her. >> We're at drum roll. 1,085 so far. >> Okay. >> That's another bag of inventory tickets. >> So that's is that the second,000 amount? >> Well, no. He's going to go do it again. That's probably another $1,000. >> Okay. >> Um >> property. >> All right. >> You already told her she's trespassing. >> So yeah, you are trespass. We need that from today to the day. >> Finally, she was charged with felony retail theft due to prior convictions and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Past mistakes never disappeared. They only made the next consequences heavier. Thinking confidence could outplay evidence only led to a harsher fall. >> You better stop. >> Get out car. I'm going to do >> I swear to God, but let's just >> On February 25th, 2022, police responded to a reported theft at Walmart. The suspect was known to have committed similar offenses before and had prior trespassing violations. Upon arriving at the scene, the situation immediately descended into chaos. >> Hey, please stop. >> You better stop. Get out of the car. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. Get out of the car. >> 304 out there. >> 304. Are you at Walmart still? >> Yeah. I had a vehicle just run from me. Uh looks like they're going out towards the loop. It's a white Looks like a Chevy passenger car. >> First digit. >> They're going out towards Fourth Street. >> Impala. >> It's going to be a Chevy Impala. >> Look like a black female driving. >> The uh subject evaded and resisted. >> The female has a violent um leopard. You can get a charge, too. So, the driver in the vehicle also cooperated by fleeing with the suspect. At this point, police and store staff were able to clearly verify and confirm the events. >> Stop. Cuz now we're going to file this whole who who saw everything. >> Well, they were all doing it. He went So, I think um Brady got the selection on the speaker. By the time I met up, he had the speaker next to the backpack and then I watched him take it out of the packaging and put it in the backpack and I think Marshall seen it as well. We can do a statement right. >> I got to head to work. Um, >> yeah, don't worry about it. >> But I just got to get everybody who saw info. >> Okay. >> Was everything recovered or >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Where did she drop the stuff at? >> Oh, it was a female. >> No, it it was a >> I think it was a female. >> That's a female. I thought it was a dude just cuz he was huge. >> This dude is serious. >> Look. Oh, wow. That's a female. >> That's a female. >> They must be lesbians. >> It has to be >> or family. I don't know. That looks like a dude. >> And Curtis, from my point of view, yes. I could not tell. And I was not going to keep looking either. >> So, everything was recovered. >> Yeah. >> Where did she ditch the stuff at? So right at the uh right at the entrance right there at the guard after she passed off point three >> she left right there. She dumped the cart after all points of sales ran. >> You got that on >> everything in the bag. Yeah >> when I went after her. >> Yeah we'll get that whole thing. >> I almost got her. >> I got >> good job. How was the day? >> 13367. >> And I've got all his stuff here. It's a >> remote start. >> What is that? >> Everything in there trying to steal. >> That's all it is. >> The suspect's identities and the vehicle's license plate were confirmed. Based on this information, another team intercepted the car as it arrived near the suspect's residence. >> Hello. Can we roll back window down for me? All right. >> Okay. >> Yes. I just came from Walmart. >> Yes, ma'am. You sure did. >> They just tried to attack me when I took off. >> You had an officer. >> Yes, ma'am. He just tried to attack me when I took off. He scratched me. >> Resisting an officer and evading the scene is not how you solve that problem, right? >> Well, I was scared. Like I have six people on me. >> They're doing they're doing um a shoplifting thing. >> I went in there to go get a headlight. I have my Intox. I have a speaker and I have a pair of boxes that belong to my brother that is in that bag. >> Okay. >> That was already in the bag when I went to Walmart. >> All right. Do you have your license with you or an ID of some sort? >> No, ma'am. I'm I was going around the corner to go talk to my mom, but I live. >> Okay. What's your name? >> I'm on probation. That's why I ran. And I got scared cuz I did I before I went to jail and got on probation, I got in trouble for shopping, >> okay, >> at that Walmart and I was told not to go back cuz that's the only Walmart that had my license. >> The woman went to a location where she knew she was trespassing. Her excuses seemed entirely unconvincing. And shortly afterward, she also had a separate story written. >> In the store, all I did was go straight to the auto. I asked the man if he had the light bulb. He said, "They don't have my specific light bulb in." I walked out to electronics to see if cuz my phone is broke. >> So I tried to see if they had a phone like unlocked phone for straight talk and the lady said they didn't. The only one they had was the 11 and I was in that car. After that >> I went out the uh garden center. Whole bunch of people started coming at me, scratching me, pulling on me, and I got scared. So I I got in the car. Okay. And then the officer had his hand on his gun. I got scared. I got in. I'm on probation. I'm okay. Well, we made a series of not so wonderful decisions, okay? So, now we're going to have to kind of work it out, okay? And figure out what's going to happen. What's going on? Do y'all know who lives here? This where you pulled over. I >> pulled over this corner over here. I live straight up the road. >> Okay. Okay. Yeah. They were able to get the license plate on the vehicle and that just left your house. Well, you're >> way I just got scared. That's all it really was. >> Okay. the rest. I was just kidding. >> Okay. Okay. >> I'm on probation. >> And you said you're on probation for shoplifting? >> No, ma'am. I'm on probation for the DWI. >> DWI. >> All right. Well, hang tight. I'll be right back. Okay. What is your name, darling? >> Yeah. She didn't have nothing to do with me. I got scared and I told her to drive. >> What's your birthday, Miss Washington? >> The female suspect surely knew that her actions would cause serious trouble, but in reality, she had no idea that she was also bringing additional problems onto her friend. I thought so. Hey, Victoria. All right. I have a question. Can Yes. Since brother, can she uh drop my car for my sister and take my car? No. >> No. Is she going to? >> She didn't have anything to do. >> Yes, ma'am. Because you when the officer >> I'm going to get out of >> Shortly afterward, more stolen items were discovered in their vehicle. >> Okay. >> And she admitted to it. >> Yeah, she admitted to it. I got on BWC. >> What the driver have to say? Uh, she said she didn't know what was going on. She was scared. All this other stuff. I got some Walmart Wrangler pants in a bag in here. >> Yeah, they they saw her little certain thing. It's got to be over over 100. It's going to be There's a 750. >> Okay. I had like a Every time he closes something, I think they're hitting up your back seat. Okay. So, we got um car freshener, red hoodie that is torn where he grabbed her arm. So, >> the passenger. >> Yeah. So, I'll take a picture of that where it in the end, the suspect was charged with theft and resisting arrest and the driver was charged with evading arrest detention. Avoiding, resisting, and deliberately withholding information only makes the situation worse. Cooperating with authorities from the beginning is always the safest choice. Sit down. >> I don't have to. >> You're going to get another charge of obstruction. >> Sit down. >> You're lucky I'm not taking you to jail as well at being an accomplice to her. >> I been an accomplice with her. >> So So what you all >> on August 13th, police received a report from a store about a woman pushing a baby stroller with suspicious signs. When officers approached, she appeared visibly frightened by their presence. And the shocking truth gradually came to light. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> What are you putting in your stroller? >> Something. >> Yeah. You want to lift it? Is that a baby in there? >> No. >> So, what's in there? >> Stuff. >> Oh, you want to lift the sheet >> or am I going to lift it? >> You can lift it. >> You lift it. >> You can lift it. >> Oh, I did this with my sister. She's in the car. >> Turn around. I'll get your sister, too, cuz she's probably in that handicap parking spot. >> Yeah, she is. >> Yeah, I know. Wow. Good job. >> I had to. You don't have to do anything. >> I do. >> No, you don't. >> It seemed that she immediately sought sympathy by claiming she did it for someone else. But as soon as the officers listed the items found in her stroller, her attitude changed instantly. >> Don't. >> So So you need to steal moisturizing conditioner, right? You need to steal >> You need to steal perfume, right? Or detox shampoo, right? You need to steal shampoo, right? And and ovulation strips. >> Okay, sir. >> There ain't no Okay. You're the one who came here to steal everything. That ain't okay to speak. >> You don't have to grab me like that. Just because I DID SOMETHING WRONG. YOU DON'T HAVE TO GRAB ME LIKE THAT. THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU GET to grab me like that. >> I didn't do nothing. I I want to supervise you. >> Yeah, you're going to jail. >> Yeah, you can talk to one at jail. >> I DON'T CARE. I DON'T CARE. Get out of the car. >> I don't care. >> Get out. >> Get out of the car. >> Sit down. Sit down. >> I don't have to. >> You're going to get another charge of obstruction. Sit down. >> You don't HAVE TO PULL ME LIKE THAT. >> OVER HERE AND SIT DOWN, TOO. >> Get over here and sit down, too. >> [ __ ] are you pulling on me like that for? >> Sit down. Sit down. >> 229. Clear traffic. >> You're going to jail. Okay. At a minimum for obstruction. You don't pull away from the police. >> I didn't pull away from me. You snatched me. >> And your car smells like weed. So, we're going to search that. And you're parked here. >> There was nothing but guilt in sight. and even setting the theft aside. Police detected the smell of marijuana in their car while their parking situation was also in violation. >> You're not handicapped. >> But sir, >> that's that's not how you use a decal for handicap now, is it? Are you handicapped? Is that issue to you? >> That's >> Is that issue to you? >> No, it's not. >> Okay. So So coming over here with her, >> I never said >> she's trying to jack this store. I was >> Okay. And we're all supposed to just be nice to you and give you cookies. >> I never said you be nice to me and give me name. >> Hello. >> Do you guys want to press charges for this? >> Mhm. >> Okay, very good. What is your name? >> I'm going to find out who you are. >> Give me your information. >> Listen to me. >> Give me your name. >> Give me your name. >> Was it resentment over being treated like a criminal? Perhaps that was why obtaining the woman's information was not easy at all. as the other suspect also behaved the same way. >> What's her name? >> She's not giving it to you. >> No, that's why I'm coming to ask you. >> They don't got nothing to do with me, sir. You're being rude to me. And >> we're going to we're going to Here's what we're going to do. We're going to give you a ticket. Okay. You're lucky I'm not taking you to jail as well as being an accomplice to her. >> I'm being an accomplice with her. So >> So what did you all come here for? >> That don't got nothing to do with me. She's a grown woman. >> Did you drive here with her? >> Yes, I drove here with her. But listen, sir, at the end of the day, that don't got nothing to do with >> So she can run out. It was truly a rash challenge made in anger because she immediately put herself in trouble when police actually found the evidence they had suspected. >> Look, look at this. >> YOU GOT A CAR sticking a weed with diapers in here. Real real real good. Real good. >> Yeah. Right here. You got a medical card? >> What? >> You got a medical card? >> Do I have a medical >> medical marijuana card? >> I don't have a medical. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. You're under arrest, too. >> What? I'm under arrest. possession of marijuana under 20 g. >> I DON'T WHAT I HAVE WEED IN MY >> You see the roaches there? >> Oh my god. >> Actually, we'll put her in your car. >> Oh my goodness. Oh my god. WHAT YOU WANT TO BE NASTY to me for? I didn't even do nothing. >> Have a seat. >> We got her name. >> Yep. >> Can't blame no drugs on me. NOT MY CAR. NOT MY NOT my Not my drugs. >> Well, whose car is that? That's uh my >> your home girl. >> Hey. Yeah. Not Yeah. Driver. Not my car. My name is Passion. Is it >> I know. Well, now I know your name is Passion after I asked you like 10 times. >> Uh and I didn't have to speak to you. I didn't want to speak to you. >> You slung ME ON THE GROUND. >> OKAY. >> She truly did not see herself as a criminal. But to resolve the situation quickly, the officers ultimately complied and restarted the conversation as if it were their first encounter. >> Okay. Let's start over. Okay, >> let's start over. What's up? >> All right. I'm Deputy Brown. >> My name is Passion. >> Very good. Passion, did you intend to pay for any of that stuff? >> Um, I was. Yes. So, I had 20 I like 25 30 $30 in 30 something dollars in my bag. I had like $50 in some change, maybe 60 or so on my food sim card >> um that I was going to use. And then just whatever the rest of it was. I'm not going to sit here and lie. Like when you came up to me, I didn't lie to you. Like I had no reason to lie to you. As soon as you walked up in there, I knew what time it was. Like I knew what I was doing. I knew what type of risk I was taking. Okay. >> Did you knew what you were doing was wrong? >> Yeah, I knew what I was doing was wrong, but I had no money. I had no one I could call, no family. >> Do you Do you have a job? >> No, I just came down here. I just came down here and before I could like I just came down here. I came down here with no ID, no nothing. Like my birth certificate is at my sister house. So, I'm wait. It's just so much like, you know, I'm just going through a lot. Just really truly honestly going through a lot. >> Okay. I'm going to give you the address and phone number to the act shelter when we're done. Okay? Because even though we might not see eye to eye right now, I'd like you to get some help while you're in Lee County. Do you understand? Okay. And you you can dislike me and and whatever it might be, but >> I don't dislike you. I just wish like you wouldn't like >> you wish I was nice to you. >> When No, not even that. When you approach people in certain situations, don't just treat them bad or just >> The woman saw herself as the victim even though she was the one who raised her voice and obstructed the officers from the start. Watch how police handled this situation and leave your thoughts below. >> Have we ever met before? >> No. And >> do I know who you are and what you're capable of? >> No, sir. But sir, >> so when when everything is calmed down like this, I can have a civilized discussion with you. But I can't do that while I have you. I'm worrying about her in the car. Okay? I don't know who else is in the car with her. Okay? So I have all these moving parts coming with going on, right? So I don't have time to have conversations right then and there. We have to wait till everything is under control. Then I'll talk to you. Okay? Like this. All right? >> Yes. because I'm not trying to be mean to you, okay? I'm I'm trying to be a nice guy to you, okay? But there are certain things that need to happen in order for me to start relaxing and being nice to you. Well, listen. How old are you? >> 21. >> You got a lot of time to change your life around him, >> okay? A lot. Don't Don't become one of these people that steal for a living, okay? Cuz there's people out there like that. I'm not saying that's you, but they they they start this way and then next thing you know, they're they're stealing things. They're going to Miami trying to sell things. They're doing all sorts of stuff to survive. Okay, go to school. Do something. You're 21. >> You don't need to be at CVS at 1:00 in the morning stealing. You know what I'm saying? Running into Deputy Brown. All right, I'm going to give you the number to the ACT shelter. If you need a place to stay, call them. Okay. In the end, the woman was charged with grand theft and resisting without violence. Denial and anger only made the situation worse, showing that accountability and cooperation are often the only way to prevent a small mistake from turning into a life-altering consequence.
