the different costume types that are out there you've got some that are listed as non-flammable and you have some that are just inherently flammable so one of the things we wanted to be able to show is what happens when you have a flame making direct contact with the costume now we've got some of these popular ones right here that you see this is actual flame contact as you can see it starts to burn itself out mainly because it's polyester one of the points that we want to make is that when you're dealing with polyester or any of these non-flammable type of materials the idea is that the costume does not continue to burn once the flame is away from it now I'm going to put it on this costume here and if you see on from a visual from this side notice how it continues to burn on the outside part and it starts to drip away basically one of the concerns we have right here going back to one of the statements we made earlier is remembering to teach your kids to stop drop and roll because if you have material like this you want to be able to get the flame out immediately again this is a polyester type mixture here now I'm going to do it on this feather boa now again that goes back to the concern that we have that if a kid were to go to a home where there is a Open Flame such as in a Jack-o-Lantern and a pumpkin and having direct contact with that flame could lead to fire such as this so again we made that point about not having loose fitting materials to walk around in and as you see right here this wave starts to take off and this is something that you can buy and then from any store notice the flammability of it in most cases when kids have it this is free hanging and floating around going back to this costume notice here it's been burned before but see when I have a flame on it direct flame it continues to burn and notice as I take it away that hot material makes direct contact to the skin which can lead to Serious Burns which would be less third degree burns notice how it's still continuing to burn this would not be a flame resistant material the product is flame resistant even if it is you still have to assume the worst case scenario that when it comes in contact with an open flame and confirmed and also if you are again decorating your home as Rick had mentioned earlier make sure that you don't have open claims as part of your decorations and also remember when dressing your kids or yourself or wearing costumes make sure they're not flowing freely as you can see if they come in contact with open flame it can lead to a really bad scenario
