[Music] yeah Mike chapen I've been officer for 15 years and I work the 580 District which is basically kind of the core area I have uh MLK to the East and I go to I5 and then answorth down to about shaver so um I think a lot of people kind of give this a lot of officers give the same opinion why they like this job because it's it's different there's something different every day um you're not stuck in a cubicle filing paperwork you're out chitchatting with folks and and driving around and interacting so I think just the you don't have the monotony of a day after day after day it's every call is um maybe a surprise something to work through um maybe something you haven't had before and I I like that it's kind of a challenge actually I met my wife in high school and we got married in college so she's this is kind of all she's known as as me being a police officer and uh you know I've got four kids so I started having kids um within a year or so after starting this job and and uh you you definitely change when you have kids and and you start you're just more aware of the safety and and the things that are out here for them to you know get messed up and Tangled with so so you feel for the parents that are having kids that are kind of going ACR off the path and strain so you can offer ideas that really is something that you would do it's like I would do that from my own experience or or I haven't experienced that cuz my kids are are young teens um and say you know what that that's tough I haven't experienced that yet um but this is what I might do so you can give them my ideas and and they're real appreciative of it and and they they know you speak from the heart because you you're going to be there shortly or or dealing with it right now I guess if you looked at my my my little bookshelf it's kind of assortment of all kinds of things and I take a little little bit from each person I read about or or hear about um along obious people I meet but um and just picking out the qualities that I like and maybe try to emulate that or or be similar to that or or uh maybe take that point of view you know still reading still learning and and obviously meeting people here and on the street and though if it's a hot apple fritter I won't turn it down I do apple fritters if you see me passing through your neighborhood uh wave at me we'll stop and chitchat so call me over we'll have a conversation we'll talk and and uh yeah you have a little party or barbecue definitely invite me I like to eat I like Mexican food tacos steaks so we can barbecue have a good time all right take care
