You're under arrest >> for stealing. >> For stealing. >> Shoplifting. >> I did not stop. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. >> And I'm not okay. They just try to me and get me wrapped up with the police again. >> Unexpected encounters were set up by the police. But even more surprising was the chaos that followed as the thieves couldn't accept being caught red-handed. Where will this story lead? Everything will be revealed in today's video. Shoplifterss go crazy after cops. Surprise, stop. We are This is Law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Starting with these two shameless women who showed no remorse for stealing. >> Yep. You're perfectly detained. Sorry. >> Set her down before. >> Come on. >> Come on. >> I'm going through my bag. >> On April 28th, 2023, officers approached a woman walking along the road. She was believed to match the description of a shoplifting suspect earlier at Walmart. When asked to stop, she completely acted uncooperative. >> Wait here for me. Nope. Hey, come on back. You're being detained right now. Come on back. Come on back. That from Walmart. >> Come on back. Nope. Come on back. Nope. >> Don't touch me. >> Yes, ma'am. Come on. Back here towards the park. Come on. >> Nope. You're being detained. >> I don't want I don't care. Go and set the pillow down for me. >> Oh, this is my pillow. >> Okay. Okay. Well, go and sit on the ground for me. >> Set it down for me. >> Yep. You're currently detained. >> Set it down before >> Come on. >> Come on. >> Don't be pulling away. >> Stop resisting this down >> and then we'll work this out. Okay. Just work with us. There you go. Just work with us. Okay. The woman acted as if she was innocent and undeserving of arrest. She even admitted the unpaid items she carried without any shame. >> Yeah, I'll get all the stuff. >> So, the bag with you? Is this your bag? >> No, it's not your bag. >> Nope. >> You just found it magically. >> You just told me it wasn't mine. Well, >> I'm asking you. Is it yours? >> You told me it wasn't mine. You know more than me. >> Oh, okay. So, you got the wrapper on it? >> Uh, apparently it's brand new. >> Okay. Did you forget to pay for it on the way out? >> Paid from where? >> Walmart. >> You just said it wasn't mine. >> Right. >> Well, where did I get it from? >> I don't know. >> I played the fifth. >> Played the fifth. Okay. All right. Come on back here towards my car. You have an ID on you? You have an idea on you at all? What's that? >> I don't know who I am anymore. >> You don't know who you are. Okay. >> All right. >> You can look in that pink bag. That's >> what >> pink bag. All right. See that pink bag's yours? Take it first. >> Oh, that's mine. I like the pillow. I wanted the pillow. >> Okay. >> It's mine. >> Hey, we just got to clarify. >> And it smell like [ __ ] outside. >> Outside in general. >> Yeah. Don't smell like boooo out here. >> Yeah. It's a treatment facility. It's horrible. >> That's probably what that is. Come on in. Let's grab a seat. >> Shortly after, officers proceeded to inspect the suitcase believed to belong to her. It seemed additional stolen items were also discovered inside. >> That was the ID. I think it was after the tags magic company. It's going to be less than 1775. Who doesn't like those? Yeah, it's going to be worse. I use this thing. Go ahead. >> Returning to the suspect, the woman made it difficult to determine her charges due to her inconsistent background statements. >> Well, here's not in the state of Missouri. >> Uh, Illinois. I'm in Illinois. >> Okay. But Missouri, have you been convicted? >> No. >> Nope. been to court, just not convicted or you missed court date or >> uh >> went to court and they didn't convict you. >> No, I'm not even from Missouri. >> Okay. Anywhere? >> I'm from Georgia. >> Georgia? >> Yeah. Atlanta, Georgia. >> Okay. Just want to come to beautiful Illinois from Georgia. >> No, I live in Missouri. >> Okay. Okay. So, have you been arrested or convicted for theft? Missouri? Georgia? Anywhere? >> I mean, Georgia is where I'm born and raised. You have got one for me in Georgia. >> No, cuz here's where we're at, right? With the amount of merchandise you have. Okay. Um >> if it's a certain if it's a certain amount, okay, then it's an automatic felony. >> I understand it. >> You're not quite there. >> Okay. Well, I want to go to jail anyways. >> You want to go to jail? >> Yeah. Please take me away. >> No, you don't have any warrants. At least not >> I don't have a warrant. TSA told me. In fact, this woman was not the only one involved in the theft. Another woman was still inside the store. Officers immediately went in and addressed the reason for their encounter. >> Hey, how you doing today? >> Hi, baby. >> Hey, do you know what Tanisha? >> Do I know what Tanisha is? >> Yeah, >> I think so. Why? >> You think so? So, uh, it was the person that you came in here with. >> Yeah. What? >> Yeah. Okay. So, Walmart's been watching you on the cameras. Okay. and they saw you putting some items inside that bag that still had the tag on it and whatnot. Okay, stand right there. Now, when I pull this out my backpack and you don't see nothing on there, I want I'm showing Walmart. I want you to go through it. If you see anything in there with a tag on it, >> hey, I mean, if you're perfectly fine with me touching your to us right now. >> Yeah, Tanisha's with us. >> Okay. Did you guys ride together? >> I rode the bus. We rode the bus over there. But ain't nothing in there with no tag on it. You can look in there. >> And then I want to Who? Who? cuz I that's crazy. I've been sitting right up here trying to get me a phone. I mean, give me some internet. >> Right. Right. >> Now, you will find a Goodwill tag. >> You said you're perfectly fine with me looking. >> I'm telling you to go through it, baby. >> All right. Thanks. I just got to make sure. >> Yeah. Take your time. Ain't nothing in there that's going to hurt you. >> No. >> I appreciate you being so cool with me. What was your first name? >> My name is Tasha. >> Tasha. Yeah, >> nice to meet you. I'm Brandon. >> Hi, Brandy. My last name is Brandy, my marriage last name. >> Shortly after, officers also delivered the store's decision to the woman. >> Because of the theft and whatnot, what they're wanting to do is they want both of you guys trespass from here. Okay. >> Okay. I won't never come back to anybody. When I do, I'm coming back with me an attorney because what somebody else doing ain't got nothing to do with me. I've been standing right here. They got all these cameras watching me. So, they should have knew that before they sent you over here. But I appreciate you doing that to get it all out the way so I ain't got to worry about this no more. >> Absolutely. Absolutely. Do you have like an ID or anything like that? Just so I can write down. >> No, no, sir. This is what we trying to get through. This is why I'm doing all this stuff right here. >> Okay. Let me just write your name down and stuff like that. Pretty much all the trespass thing says is just that you can't come back here for >> I won't never come. I'm from I'm from St. Louis anyway. >> Oh, okay. >> Coming in this trifling place anyway. >> All right. What was your first one? >> All right. Yeah. Yeah, supreme child test means is that you can't come back here for a year on April 29th of next year. You can come back in >> come back to this mother away. >> But for real, I feel like that's wrong. >> Yeah. I mean, so I mean as a private business, they're welcome to trespass pretty much whoever they want to trespass. >> Okay. But I get that. I get that. I get that. I get that. I get that. >> But do you understand where I'm coming from? Absolutely. I get your frustration. >> That's not right. >> It's like having having two kids. One does wrong and now they're both in trouble. Right. When I ain't even know we're around her, >> right? >> I'm trying to get some internet on my house. >> Right. >> Both women were issued trespass notices and the first woman was charged with theft. Her actions showed that dishonesty and lack of accountability only make situations worse, and pretending or avoiding responsibility will not prevent the consequences of one's actions. Next, [music] this dishonest woman even had a whole stash of goods in her vehicle. Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. >> Oh, there's this gold. Who knows where the heck this? >> On May 3rd, 2024, officers received a call from a Kohl's store reporting a woman concealing merchandise while shopping. Upon arriving at the scene, security also provided additional statements about what had happened. She >> is in there in the back. She can't see the entrance or exit right now. Grabbing a suitcase. She's already concealed a bunch of stuff. So, I'm not I'm not trying to force either way. Um they're like obviously they kind of want to wait it out, let her walk out with it so we get a good like get a good case on her. >> Okay. >> If she doesn't have cash on her, I've already confirmed the state attorney they'll charge burglary. >> Okay. >> So, if we do want to just go in and get it done with and then find that she has no cash on her, we're still good to take her. Um >> is the suitcase hers or is it? >> Nope. She's grabbing it from the store. Looks like she's going to fill it up. So, we can do I can since she can't see, I can walk into the LP office, watch cameras with him, and update or we can go in now. Doesn't matter. >> That's just update. If you want to do that, if you want to go in and look at the cameras, >> I'll go in there. I'll be right back. >> Okay. >> At the same time, the moment the woman was exposed, officers quickly approached her, catching her off guard. Go ahead. She's here. Put your arms behind your back. >> Okay, you got it. >> All right, I got it. >> Oh, got your ID in here. >> No, I don't. ID. What's your name? >> Pas what? >> More. You know why you're being stopping though? >> Yeah. >> We'll take you over this way and I'll talk with you. Okay. >> Okay. >> You guys mind grabbing uh pictures or that and then a receipt, please? You want to have a seat in here? Is there any way that you can make a phone call? >> Okay, give me one second. Okay. >> What was your intention of coming here today? >> I was just getting some clothes from me and my kids. >> Okay. Did you intend to steal it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have Do you have any like credit cards or money or anything on you? >> No. She had not carried any form of payment on her, which confirmed her intent to come there and steal, but when questioned, she denied it. >> Here today to steal that. Is that right? >> No. No. I came here to pick somebody up and when when they wasn't here, >> then I just swung by the store. >> Okay. >> Something stupid or something. >> Okay. So, what was your purpose of coming here though? You, you know, to get clothes? >> Yeah, I was coming to shop. Mhm. >> Okay. But you essentially had no way to pay for it, though. >> Yeah, I mean, I had ways to pay for it in my car. >> Okay. All right. You want to hop out over here real quick? Go ahead. >> Shortly after, the officer returned inside the store while another officer who had already been working with the staff had also reached several firm conclusions. >> Um, so was there was merchandise stuffed into the suitcase. Is that right? >> Yeah. Yeah. There was it's 22 something. It's 19 after sales, but they don't do sales, so it's >> purse wasn't hers. It >> it is. It's not here. So, tech, it's heroy purse. I'm sure she stole it from somewhere else. >> Brand new purse. >> Yeah, 100%. >> Um, >> she's going to go for burglary retail for sure. So, >> and I don't know if McDonald I'll take it if you want. I don't mind. >> I always offer when it when it's here. >> If you just don't You got It looks like you're uploading the pictures now. >> Yeah. So, I'm going to upload pictures. I'm sending him the community invite to send it. Do you know I just fill this out with his information, right? is a community member and you send it and you >> and then if you get it, there's a way that you can share it with me, >> but I don't know how to do that. So that way so that way I can just look at it and put it in, do everything. So >> Oh, that's massive. >> Cool. >> Um, and then if you want me to write us up for this part, >> no, I'll just document that the there was merchandise found inside the >> Y >> suitcase. It was little uh $2,000 some dollars. >> Tell you they're going to try and flip her. >> Yeah. something interested. >> She's from Indiana, so um I've never done that. So McDonald's is talking to her now. But >> the situation became even clearer when more items were discovered in her personal vehicle, strongly suggesting that she was experienced in this kind of wrongdoing. >> Everything in this car is probably stolen. >> What all you see in this bag? What else? >> Yeah. >> Oh, she got a lot of stuff. >> All this stuff. It's all in Lowe's bag, but none of it is from the Lowe's store. Got the just the MMO of concealing another bag. These are I don't know where the lunch box is from. >> Oh, those are from TJ Maxx. Yes, >> that is probably from TJ Maxx as well. >> Yeah. >> You found stuff in here? Yeah, that's where all this was. All of all this. >> Pretty much all of it. I don't know where she got this from. Yeah, I don't know cuz like that's all makeup. So again, not not from Lowe's. That's all that's TJ Maxx, I think. Oh, no. There's some stuff in my too. I'm not sure where that came from. I don't think it says on there. I think is Vickiy's a Walmart brand though. I think that stuff is all from Meer. This one. >> Oh, there's this gold. Who knows where the heck this is from? However, despite the clear evidence, the woman did not easily admit to anything and even hesitated when answering some of the officer's questions. There's a lot of other stolen merch in your vehicle. Where'd you get that from? That's not >> Where did you get that from? >> That came from the store at home. None of this stuff. Oh, I've already been in contact with Meyer. >> Looks like you were there today. >> You going to take nothing out of there? >> So, what's the camera footage going to show? >> I didn't take nothing out of my >> Were you there today? >> Mhm. But I didn't go I didn't take nothing. >> What other stores were you at today? Uh, that's it. Just Myers and I went to a gas station. That was it. >> Okay. >> Who's your friend? >> Who's your friend that you dropped off? >> No, I was supposed to pick up a friend. >> Pick up from where? >> Robert. I was supposed to pick him up from the jury in. That's the reason I ended up down. >> Okay. >> And he was already gone once I got here. >> Okay. All righty. So, I would argue that that stuff is stolen in your vehicle. So, we're going to impound your vehicle. Okay. Okay. And we're seizing all the stuff that's in there. Okay. And then you're going to go to county for a couple felonies. >> In the end, the woman was charged with multiple counts of felony retail theft after being found to have carried out a series of shoplifting incidents at several different stores. The woman's actions escalated from a single suspected theft into a broader pattern of repeated offenses across multiple stores, leaving her little room to avoid accountability. Next, the woman became increasingly unstable, making everything nothing but more difficult. >> Nail polish. I COULD HAVE STOLE IT AND GOT A LESSON. NEXT TIME I'M GOING TO >> Next time I'm committing the instead of being honest. >> The other camera always has me and I have an internal camera in my body. >> On [snorts] the 27th of December 2025, police were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a woman previously involved in theft at a nail salon. Upon approach, she displayed fearful and highly suspicious behavior. >> Let's focus on her when you're in here. Okay. >> Sorry to what happened to you. >> Great. I haven't used a regular phone in so long. >> Chargers, I'm starting to feel safe again. >> I have to go in between both of you. Everybody need paper and everybody just yell at me. >> All right, we're at 215. And I am I do have I am lawyer affiliated. So just to let you know. >> Hi. >> Hi. I'm with um you go by a different name. >> I go by. Is that your export? >> Yes. >> It's hard to hear. Ask him for money. I I can't hear him. The wind is going to make it. I'm outside. >> Hi, I need you right now. >> She's like here. >> I'm homeless and I need your help. And I'm really about to come back to Pennsylvania and just say [ __ ] it all and start a whole new life with you because I cannot do this anymore. >> I did not do it. >> I already had help in the hospital. I went to the FA. I've been to jail. I work at JFK now. Like I I need to either get home to Pennsylvania or I need to leave Florida because I can't do this anymore. Like >> the woman appeared desperate and showed signs of mental instability, making her difficult to cooperate with. So the police attempted to work with the person she was calling in order to find a solution. She walked into the nail salon, got her nails done, and >> someone told me that they were paying for them, but they weren't. >> Correct. >> You can do a sobriety test. I'm okay. >> Sure. Of course. Okay. >> I can't do backwards. I never can. A >> L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z. Now I know my ABCs. Next time. Please watch. >> No, I I hear you. Um I I don't know really what the best course of action here is for her. I mean, I don't know where does she live here? You don't know anything about her, do you? >> No, I'm homeless and I need him. I need him. I'm going back to Pennsylvania. That doesn't work out. >> Okay. Where are you located? >> Cuz I'm done. >> Got it. >> That's right. >> That's why >> um Yeah. I I I don't know what we're going to do here as far as that goes, but she's definitely uh exhibiting signs of that. Um but they're they're not going to be able to do anything for her. The hospital's going to let her go. There are no >> They are they already >> It was clear that she could firmly deny her previous wrongdoing, but she spoke incoherently about her own information, showing she was intentionally making things difficult. Even the information about people related to her was the same. I just told you his name is Art. I don't have last names because I have clearance top secret confidential >> clearance everywhere I go. So people can't give me their last name because they'll sue me or I'll >> figure that out. It's confirmed. >> But I I didn't question. >> Sorry. I get frustrated when I have to repeat myself over and over and over again. >> I hear you. I hear you. Wait, >> I can go to EDI if need a >> What's that? What's that? I don't know what that is. >> Clearance. It's um presidential >> top secret >> alcoholic anonymous top secret help. >> Uh there what are we going to do about you at the nail salon? You you failed to pay them. >> I did fail to pay them. So what honestly what happens? >> You aren't going to be able to go. >> Yes. Anyone in Motel 6 will pay for my nails. I just have to go to him. So can I ride with you? >> What room are you saying? >> I was in 261. >> Do you mean Art? The guy who was at the front desk. >> Yes, he's the manager. And also JD is the JD is a really good friend of mine. Let me uh get my neck. >> But as time went on, the woman clearly showed that she was mentally unstable, speaking about things that were completely unrelated. >> Urinate, which I haven't done because I'm too worried about saving everyone else instead of myself. Actually, let's do that. Let's urinate. And that tells the truth. Oh, big day. And we have a winner. Three turns into six real fast. Is this my angel? She is now. So, uh, she's failed to pay for for the, uh, nails. >> So, staff >> staff, right? But she's schizophrenic and we're trying to work something out. We called her boyfriend, confirmed that she's schizophrenic, mentally ill, off medication. >> Okay. >> Uh, >> I hear you. I don't know what is doing here, but she's called the boyfriend who lives in Pennsylvania and is not going to come here to pay. He said, "I'm done with her, but I'm glad she's okay. Uh, don't call me. She doesn't want to go to the hospital. Homeless shelter." Uh, and she's calling over to the Motel 6 to get in touch with the manager of the Motel 6 because the schizophrenic told her that he would pay for >> Excuse me. I'd rather go to jail or not. >> I'm serious. She >> You can talk to her. >> I'm over here. She's just calling me. You're trying to take me back. Um >> I need to figure out my situation to get out of Florida. >> The situation initially seemed to remain under control, but the tension gradually escalated as her confusing behavior and unreasonable demands were not met. No, because it's not coming because see >> take me to jail. Take me to jail. I'm begging you to take me to jail >> because I'm going to call you. >> I need a cigarette or nicotine now to calm down. Anyone that knows me knows this is true. >> I'm going to go in and tell them to take them off. >> No. Yeah, you're not going back in here. Stay right there. Have a seat again. >> NAIL POLISH. I COULD HAVE STOLE IT AND GOT A LETTER. NEXT TIME I'M GOING TO >> NEXT TIME I'M committing the instead of being honest and you can actually arrest me for something. >> CJ just [ __ ] me over. So the federal >> So the federal case is on CJ and he has my stuff. >> She's not back there. She's checked out. >> So I am going to get a citation. we're going to jail for not paying where I will sit here and scratch the nails off myself cuz it's just gel nail polish and it's not that serious to me to go to >> the police confirmed that she had caused disturbances before and was not allowed to return to the area and this became the basis for their decision to take action at that moment >> and I want you my actually turning >> turn around you can turn your hand in like you're >> hands on turn your hand that's not praying I thought you were spiritual I'm very spiritual, but I'm spiritual and denominational, if you know what I mean. Non-denominational and spiritual and God. So, I am all of the above. >> I'm not saying another word. Good luck with me in the car. That's all I would say to you. Okay. Sit down. Turn around my car. Separate me. I just got to make sure you got Do you have anything on you? >> No, you don't have to lay down. >> I know I don't have to lay down. I know my race. You guys beat me the [ __ ] up before. I have nothing on me, man. Nothing. What's your name? I remember that one. Trust me, I will. It's not going to be a >> even after being taken to the police station, she showed no sense of guilt, continued to act more aggressively, and even behaved as if she were in her own home. >> Okay. The other camera ready, too. The other camera always has me and I have an internal camera in my body. Do you understand that? >> I do. >> Now you do. And you [ __ ] with the wrong person. So your job is done after my lawyer gets a hold of you today. >> Okay. >> Put your hand down the wall. >> I need to get the toilet paper. You can put it in right there. Go do that and your toilet paper. Oh, in my where I asked for soap and a sandwich or a banana and you would provide it and now you're on it. >> This is a temporary holding slee right for holding me right now except for our nail salon. >> Well, then as soon as we get you to the main gym, you'll have all the amenities you need. >> Oh, I won't. And I will not be contacting you. I promise you that you're the one. >> NO, I AM NOT. You need to pray. I am afraid about 24/7. Good. I like it. Let's go. >> I can't wait till they see me and they start laughing in your face. I know my way. >> I haven't even been here. My wife. Okay, >> listen. I'm going at your pace till we get there. And once I You better get YOUR HAND OFF ME RIGHT NOW AND A ROUGH FACTOR and then >> Okay, let's go to the car. You knew where you were going. Now I just said >> ma'am if you don't get your hands off me >> get in the car. >> We better be riding with sirens because you're going to need them with my family that's going to be riding. >> Ultimately the woman was charged for failing to pay for services. Actions driven by denial, instability, and refusal to cooperate only make a situation worse. Taking responsibility early and staying grounded can prevent small mistakes from turning into serious consequences. Next, the woman turned her shoplifting incident into something far more serious. >> If he's accusing you of a crime, then you left. >> I'm not arguing with you. I'm being nice. >> We're fighting one. >> On April [snorts] 16th, 2022, police stopped a vehicle suspected of being involved in a shoplifting incident at Walmart. The suspect was believed to be a woman attempting to leave the parking lot. Here's what happened next. Get out of the car. Get out of the car. >> Yeah. Get out of the car. >> I came in with the stuff and you can ask the people at the front >> right now. You almost vacuumed my car. So, just pull it in, park it, and get out of the car. >> Okay. >> We'll figure that out. Okay. >> Okay. There's two ladies at the front. >> Pull it in and park it. We'll figure it out. >> Okay. I'm in with the stuff. >> Okay. Pull it in and park it. We'll figure it out. >> Okay. My son's in surgery right now and I have to go. >> That's great. Pull it in and park it. We'll figure it out. >> Okay. The Orlando Surgery Center. >> That's okay. Pull your car in and park it. We'll figure it out. >> I came in with You can even out the oil. I came in with with the >> I'm sorry. >> We'll figure it out between me and you and the lost convention officer already. All right. >> Okay. Well, everything was left right there. I was coming outside my wallet. We'll figure it out. >> I promise we'll figure it out. >> Time >> right now. We're making time. But he just said you shoplifted. >> I didn't shop listed, but I came right here. I put the stuff right here in the door. It wasn't even passport in the sale. >> He will figure it out. I haven't got his story yet. I have to hear your story. I have to hear his right now. He's saying you committed. >> My number. >> No. >> Please. >> No. >> The woman had no intention of turning off her vehicle to cooperate. Constantly throwing out excuses just to appear in a rush and suspiciously leave the scene. >> How long is this going to take? >> As long as it takes. I'll get it done as soon as I can. Okay. 33. I'll be over at the center. Hop out the car. You might want to roll your window up. >> Can I Can I call somebody to call them cuz my son is in surgery? >> Sure. Right now, hop out of the vehicle with your information, including your phone, and we can call them on the way in. Okay. If the faster we do this, faster you can get out of here. >> Okay. So, if we multitask, >> if we multitask, we can get this done faster. >> Okay. >> All right. So, let's park the car. As we're walking in, you can call somebody. That work? >> I don't understand. If all the merchandise is right there, >> I've explained it like five times. >> How come this said that I walked in with the heart? >> Get out of the car. Unlock the car and get out of the car right now. >> Okay. But they just >> turn off the car. Unlock the door and get out of the car right now. or you are under arrest. >> How am I under arrest? >> For stealing. >> For stealing. >> Shoplifting. >> She kept repeating questions she already knew the answers to, clearly trying to stall for time. And her behavior grew increasingly arrogant, forcing the officers to step in and shut it down quickly. >> Hi, my son who had surgery. >> Turn off. Don't stop resisting. >> Stop. I'm not resisting. >> You are resisting. Get out of the vehicle right now. >> I'm not resisting. I'm not resisting. >> Get out of the car. >> I'm not resisting. >> Out of the car now. Let's go. >> You're going to catch a charge if you just just get out of the car. >> I don't understand why. >> We're not talking about it anymore. Get out of the car. Get out. >> I'm rolling my window up. That's it. I'm just rolling. >> We will do that for you in a minute. >> I'm rolling my window up. That's it. >> Take the key out of the ignition. >> I'm just rolling my window up. Roll the window up for me. >> Get out of the car. We will get out of the car. Nope. Just roll the window up for me. That's all I have. I will roll it up. I will roll it up. I promise. >> Okay. Roll it up now. Slap out the car. We'll roll it up. >> Okay. Roll it up now. Please. >> Get out of the car. >> Okay. That's all I'm asking is to roll up the window. >> Please. Jesus Christ. Face the vehicle. Face the vehicle. Face the >> The officer successfully pulled her out of the vehicle and the handcuffing began immediately. But the woman clearly wasn't going to let it happen without resistance. >> Don't resist. >> I'm not resisting, but come on now. This is ridiculous. >> 302. We're fighting one. >> This is ridiculous. >> This is ridiculous. Stop. Stop. I didn't even glue anything. All the merchandise is right there. Put your hand behind your back. >> PUT YOUR HAND BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. >> My son. >> You want to get tased? >> My son is at Can I call? >> No. We're past that. >> Please. Please. >> Please. Can I call? Please. >> No. Can I call? Please. >> Can I call, please? Can I take all my stuff? No, you cannot. Please, >> he just got out of surgery. Please, that's all I'm asking. >> Please stop resist. We will call, but you need to stop resisting. >> You're going to get tased. You're going to get tased. >> I'm not resisting, but can you please call my son? Her resistance showed no signs of stopping, forcing officers to take her to the ground and escalate to stronger measures to gain control. >> You're back. >> Can I get up now? >> Nope. We're still figuring this out. We got to do it this way. Don't scratch me. >> Stop moving. >> You have your hands up. >> All right. Are you going to cooperate now? >> Yes. I just want to call my son. He needs to >> surgery. Please >> sit up. >> I can't sit up. Can you help me up? >> Bend your knee. >> Roll this way. Bend your knee. >> And then roll backwards. >> This way. Here we go. Now, tuck this hand in. >> Tuck this knee under. I have a AC joint dislocation. I was just in a car accident. >> Can you help me up? >> No. Stay sitting. >> Are you done? >> Yes. Can you help me up, please? Chris, you look >> Stay sitting for a minute. >> Get your taser cartridge. >> Yeah, I got it. >> Even at the station, she showed no sign of recognizing her wrongdoing, playing the victim as if it would somehow help her escape the charges. >> Once we said get out the car like 15 times and you weren't getting out the car and you rolled the window up on her hands, >> my window up >> and then you wouldn't put your hands behind your back. That's where the issue came in >> because I knew then you guys when I would call my son >> I told you you know just as well as I do. I said like 15 times just pull it in. We'll call it we'll figure it out. And then it came to the point where you weren't listening to us. I uh I work with Marian County Sheriff's Department like um >> um you at some point you got to trust us cuz you would have just gotten the shoplifting which is I mean an issue cuz you got like 15 of them >> but it wouldn't be it wouldn't be these assault charges on Leo and stuff like that. Like you took it from one place and took it to another one. All right. So like the point what's done is done. You just got to move forward past that. I mean >> you don't put those on me. >> That's not my decision. The other option that was with me is my boss. He decides what charges get filed. >> I was not I thought you guys tasered me. I was not even resisting. Like you guys had me on the floor. My hands were already behind my back. >> I'm not I'm not going to argue with you about it. >> It is what it is. >> Ultimately, the woman was charged with grand theft and resisting [music] without violence. When someone chooses arrogance and defiance over cooperation, a situation that could have been minor can quickly spiral into serious consequences, sometimes turning a mistake into a lasting record. Next, the man even brought disappointment to the very store he worked for. >> He admitted to doing it for over the 18 months. We did make him write a statement for us. >> You arresting me or arresting me, right? >> Well, I just need to guess right now if you're going to talk with us or not. On March 13th, 2025, officers received a call from a J C Penney store reporting that a theft had occurred, which became even more complicated when the suspect turned out to be a longtime employee there. To be more specific, listen to the statement given by the store manager. >> You um it is an internal associate. We have him in the back, which is by the salon, but I wanted to make sure it was okay with you. We kind of um he he's caused a he's been taking from us for over 18 months. Um the shrink is well over six figures for us. Um so we were hoping that we can actually have him walked out through the jewelry department just in case if there is anything else going on kind of as like a deterrent to uh the rest of the members in our store. Is that something that would be okay? >> Yeah, I mean he's got to I got to bring him out this way anyway. Yeah, that's why. >> Okay, cool. Cool. Cool. Just wanted to make sure. Yeah. >> Yeah. So, >> did he admit to taking this stuff? >> He did. um he admitted to doing it for over the 18 months. We did make him write a statement for us um to also add to our files. So, we'll provide you guys with a copy of his statement um as far as admitting. So, what we are >> attempting to prosecute right now is what we have on video. Um okay. Because over >> because of the shrinkage that was caused, we were able to put in cameras in certain areas. So now we're we were kind of able to develop and finally catch him in the act. >> Um so what we have on camera was him stealing two gold chains which were valued at 9,624. >> Okay. So that's >> that's on video. Yeah. Um and then as far as everything else, we did partner um with our investigator. >> This was his pawn history that was given to us by Gainesville PD. The theft was believed to have been carried out over 18 months and caused damages totaling up to $330,000 and the loss prevention staff had even gathered sufficient evidence to support this case. >> And it's for our boss. Um but that that you that's your copy. She's got a copy of video for you. Um here's a copy of the receipts that for the actual items that was on video. >> Oh, that's not that one. Sorry, it's this one >> with the video. There's your copy of the video. So these are the two that we have on video. was one one chain was $4,259 and one chain was $5,990. Got >> and she'll show you the video. I'm going to go give him I'm going to go terminate him and give him his trespass and then you she'll walk you back whenever you're ready. >> Yep, that works. Awesome. >> This camera wasn't there last year, but because of the shrinkage that we had, they finally worked on this camera and then also gave us a 360. Um, so he could have been doing it in the safety the entire time and we just didn't know. >> Yeah. That says the 3rd, right? >> Yes. March 3rd. Roughly around 8 between 8 or I'm sorry, 6:48 and 6:49 is when he takes it. So, he kind of stages it. And at this time, I'm actually passing by. And then once I pass by, he comes back. Oh, let me slow that down. Items in his hand. >> Okay. >> Wraps one up. Back pocket. Another chain. with the tag and front left pocket and then he does come back but that's just to kind of do like closing paperwork normal stuff. Um and then he exits it for the night. So never returned it and never saw her come back out of his pocket. >> Immediately after that the police approached the suspect behind the incident and he admitted to his actions but the question was raised about what his motive for stealing had been. >> Okay. And you use the money to help you out with that basically. >> Okay. Um the video that they showed me showed it was March 3rd. Do you remember that day? >> It was your last shift. >> Was it the safe? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um and that day on the video is showing you taking two >> two chains. >> Two chains. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um you took those chains. Did you pawn them? Did you Okay, so you pawn them. >> Mhm. >> All right. Do you have anything else to add for me or anything like that or >> anything you want to say or >> say I'm sorry, but what else did I say? Okay. >> All right, Paul. So, they do want to go through with filing charges. So, you're going to come with me today. We're working on statements and doing all that stuff, but that's where we are. Okay. I'm just going to be honest with you. Um, do you have >> be locked up for >> Yeah, you're >> uh what's today? Thursday. So, you're gonna have a bond. Um, it's already Thursday afternoon. So, I would probably say tomorrow afternoonish or or Saturday. >> Yeah. I won't be able to come up at the bond. >> Yeah. So, you'll just have to wait. >> Yeah. You'll just have to wait the first appearance. He bluntly stated that he would not go to court and his attitude clearly showed that he did not care about his crime at all. Even while being handcuffed, he showed not the slightest bit of remorse. >> You have to get outside. >> Yes, sir. Yeah. >> Oh, it's a it's it's a felony. No, we're not. There we go. Trying not to tight. >> Just let me know what hotel I'm being arrested. You want me to tell Mary? >> Well, she's the only person that's I'm close with. And >> I'll talk I'll talk to Mary. I'll pull her I'll pull her aside. >> Oh, man. [clears throat] All right. What I have you do is sit down and then I'm going to give you uh I'll get the phone open for you and let you make your call. Okay. Before leaving, the police allowed him to make a final call. He was also willing to admit his actions to his family without any shame. >> Brand show. >> Hello. >> Hey, Nick. >> Hello. >> Can you hear me? >> Yeah, I can hear you. >> Okay. I'm being arrested. >> What for? >> For stealing Julie. for stealing jewelry. >> All right. When have you been stealing jewelry? >> Uh, never mind. Never mind. Don't matter. I have been, but they're taking me to jail. Now, >> what do I got to do? >> Um, right now there's nothing much you can do until they I get back to the jail and they let me make another phone call or something. >> Okay. Well, call me, please. >> All right. I can't you had you been You haven't been stealing. >> Yes. >> Okay. Call me. >> All right. >> Okay. Bye. >> Bye. >> All right. >> Sure that goes with you. And I'm going to close this. I'll turn up the air, too. >> In the end, the man was charged with grand theft. Greed and dishonesty always catch up, no matter how long it takes. When someone continues wrongdoing without remorse, the consequences become inevitable and often far worse than the situation they tried to escape. Next, the man believed that he was Robin Hood. >> Step away. Turn around. Turn that way. Turn that way. >> So, is the was the money going to the people? >> For the people? Yeah. You dead for sure. You're like Robin Hood. On the 16th of February 2024, the police received a report of a theft at a Subway store with the suspect being a staff member there who had embezzled $10,000 over many months. Upon arriving at the scene, the police immediately acted. >> Smith, step away. Turn around. Turn that way. Turn that way. Turn that way. Face that way, please. Thank you very much. Ladies, this is going to be a moment for your sandwiches. I do apologize. This in no way, shape, or form reflects poorly on Subway. Yeah, you guys do fresh and you enjoy your meal. Thank you, sir. Come on, please. Any knives or anything on your butt? >> No, no, no. >> Someone will be right out to help you. >> She'll be right back. See a second. Step on. Step on. All right, we are going to park right over here for a moment. >> 63 Delta 105. >> At another location at the detective's office, the manager was present and provided some statements about the incident. >> You already made a police report with us and what we're going to do is I'm going to swear you in. >> Okay? So everything I you tell me from here is going to be the truth. >> Okay. >> Okay. So raise your right hand. You swear everything you're telling me is going to be the truth? >> I do. >> All right. So let's get started. Uh Jake, briefly what the major calls initially? >> Well, I just started noticing the sales were lower than they should be. >> Well, let's start off um what store we subway. Okay. And you are the owner. And what is the address to the subway? >> 12041 Southern Boulevard. Sweet two locks at you. >> Okay. And um what day did you notice the shortage? >> Um would have been Well, I've noticed the sales been down for a while, but last uh two Saturdays ago would have been the 3rd. I went to the store and there was, you know, I opened the safe expecting there to be money and there was none. So that kind of got me. Shortly after these allegations were also presented to the suspect and the suspect did not appear to be particularly surprised. >> So your boss came to us and said hey I have Mr. Smith has 86 voided transactions over a twoe period which is far above normal >> right? >> So there's an aotted amount of voided transactions. You bring up the applesauce or whatever you're going to void it out. you writing a whole transaction like three subs, two subs and then in a video when we correlate the transaction to the video. You see take the cash, you tell the people the card's not working or the card's not working, whatever it may be. They give you cash, you take the cash, you go back to the back of the room, I don't know what's back there, and if they need change, you hand them change from wherever you got the change from, but it's not coming from the till. Okay. >> Okay. >> So then the manager started matching up because the profits were low and these were all on days you're working by yourself. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So this is why you're under arrest. >> Okay. >> Okay. Do you understand that? >> Um sort of kind of. Yeah. >> Sort of kind of. >> Yeah. Sort of kind of. >> Okay. So I mean >> you were read I mean you read Miranda. So if you want to talk about why you're doing it, >> I don't know. Maybe you're not getting paid enough or need more money for your bills and just like a side hustle to get some extra cash. I don't know. Um I don't know how you get to work. I know you have a suspended license, revoked license, >> right? [clears throat] >> So I don't know if you need money to get home and this is why you're doing this. It's not a lot of money cuz you know Subway doesn't it's not like $100 bill like 20 bucks, 10 bucks, right? and he did this morning too cuz he was sending me a video this morning until the other employee showed up and then the trans >> The conversation continued without any response from the suspect as he appeared to be lost in thought. It seemed as though he was considering an admission while still attempting to avoid it. >> If that's the case, I would have been back in prison for real >> getting >> I went to prison for >> getting the big rips. >> No, I'm just saying if that was the case, that's not really the case. like, you know, you gota you gota you gota >> it's like I don't I don't know I don't know what the you know I'm not saying I didn't do it. I'm not saying I did do it but like you know you got to you you you know I know I'm a black guy whatever. You know what I'm saying? I know I'm overqualified for the job. You know what I'm saying? I just feel like, you know, this, like I said, it's just the universe. Like, I wasn't like, you know, I I take full responsibility or whatever. I'm a man for anything. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, it happened. Um, you know, I'm going just deal with whatever. >> Was it just something easy to do over the course of time? Nah, it's it's not that cuz it's like since you guys got camera footage, you could go back and I've haven't stole from him. Feel what I'm saying? Like I've been working for him for a minute. >> Two months. >> Yeah. >> And it started like right at the end of January. So it's like >> so it's been recent like last >> um I don't know about right at the end of January but like I don't you know it's it's like if you're getting accused for something and you just get into the store it's like I ain't even been here that long. >> Yeah. But that wasn't right when you got in the store. >> H >> it hasn't it wasn't right when you got in the store. >> What you mean? >> You got you started working 2 months ago. He tried to shift the conversation by emphasizing how well he had performed his duties, attempting to downplay the issue. He even suggested that he had been treated unfairly. >> Maybe, but it's like, you know, just you got to do your people right, man. If if someone's working for you. >> No, I understand. You got to treat your employees properly, right? >> But I'm saying, what did he do that wasn't proper? What What was he doing to to make that unfair for you? Um um I I just I don't I don't really I don't really know. That's a that's a very good question. I don't really I don't really know. I don't really know for real. >> Cuz I met the guy. He seemed like a nice dude. >> Yeah. But you know, man, listen, man. I'm not I'm not sitting up here making it a race issue. >> Okay. >> You know what I'm saying? But at the end of the day, like I'm a black man for real. >> Okay. Well, I'm a minority, too. Yeah, but but we not but we not talking about you. We talking about me. >> I understand it. I'm minority. But what do you do? I know I know there's inequities minorities, right? And I can point something out. >> Treat treat just treat treat your people fairly, man. >> Okay. Well, I was asking what was he not? >> Just treat your people fairly. Like I'm not going to sit up here and talk about the guy like he's a bad guy. >> Was he just degrading you or demeaning towards you? >> Yeah. Like, you know, you could say, you could say, you know, but it's like treat treat your people right, man. You know, you got somebody that's working at your store and they the only one working, you know what I'm saying? Like, come on, man. You got to treat your people fairly. >> You know what I'm saying? So, >> or other boys getting treated differently. >> Nah, it's only two employees. So, >> Oh, the the girl you switched out. >> Yeah. So, that that's it. Like, you know what I'm saying? It's like you got to treat got to treat us right. Like, you know what I'm saying? >> I got you. I'm gonna wear whatever I got to wear. >> Even when asked further about the reasoning behind his actions, things became even more absurd as he seemed to think of himself as a real life Robin Hood. >> Know what I'm saying? Like I understand >> that's why we didn't go with robbery. That's why we went with the scheme to defraud. >> Right. Right. I I get it. I get it. I'm for the people though, man. I'm for the people, man. Don't like it is what it is. >> So is the Was the money going to the people? >> I'm for the people. Yeah. You damn. For sure. Do you like Robin Hood? >> Um >> you're doing some Robin Hood. Robin, right? >> You taking money from people got money and giving it to the people. >> I guess I guess giving them deals, whatever. I I guess you know I >> That's what Hey, that's what Robin Hood did, right? That's the whole >> Yeah. No, I ain't never tapping into Robin Hood. I ain't never tapping into Robin Hood. >> That's what That's what he did. He took from all the people and got a lot of money, >> hooked hooked up every >> So when what time I'm going to be able to bind out though? Uh once you get booked in, uh I think it takes like about an hour or two and then they'll give you a phone call to Bondsman. You call Bondsman and uh you get your bond set. >> All right, let's get on it cuz I got I got I got a show tonight, man. >> A show? >> I do music. I do music. >> Rap? >> Yeah, I do music. I do all that. >> So, are you rapping tonight or are you playing instruments or you playing the >> Um I'm playing for the band tonight. Opening up. Yeah. Well, not >> you playing drums. Um, no. Now I'm opening up opening up for some artists. >> Where? >> Um, where is it? Um, what is the the venue? >> It's in Miami. >> Oh, you going to Miami? >> Finally, based on all the evidence collected, the police officially charged the suspect with systematic fraud and embezzlement of the store's assets over an extended period of time, [music] and he was convicted of grand theft. When someone chooses to handle it themselves by breaking the law, they not only expose themselves to criminal consequences, but also lose the opportunity to resolve the issue through legitimate and legal channels. She couldn't lift the nozzle. Then she went in there and I was out here and then my kids like I want a piece of pizza too, Dad. So I went back inside and she was just going holy hell in there. >> And what what did you see in there that she was doing to him? Just doing what I saw. Basically yelling at him and stuff. >> Yeah. >> All right. Um you have your ID on you real quick. >> Uh yeah. >> I'm just going to put you in the record. It's not doesn't mean anything. Just you you kind of saw it. So >> can I go? >> Are you calmed down yet? >> Yes, I'm calm. All right. Well, when I get back from you, >> I been calm. I already been ready to go home. My son been waiting on me all this time. I was about to pick my son up from school. This up, bro. Only reason why I was in a rush is because I was trying to pick my son up from school and this to make it seem like I'm getting I'm getting attitude with her and I'm just trying to hurry up pick my son up for school. That's it. What the bro? Shortly after, the store employee provided additional testimony detailing the woman's behavior. >> All right. Um, and so she just came in here being additionally >> she she came in and when she initially came in, she was looking for a gas can, whatever, and she was I think she was on the phone yelling at somebody. And then she paid for $10 in gas. She went out to the pump. She came back in, yelled at us to set the pump. It was still on there. Uh-huh. >> She went back out, then came back in again and started just screaming and carrying on. At that point, once you start raising your voice and yelling all of us and telling you're going to slap us and all that nonsense, >> I cancelceled her gas and I handed her her receipt and told her to get out. >> Okay. >> And then it escalated from there. There was a customer standing here >> and she said she was going to slap the out of you. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um I'm just going to put you down as a second witness. >> Okay. >> Uh what is it? Alicia. >> Okay. >> She trespass. If she comes back in here again, she'll go to jail. Um, so, uh, she's going to jail for, uh, trespass after warning and, um, she's going to go to jail for, uh, disorderly conduct. Okay. >> Yeah. >> The woman was charged with trespassing after warning and disorderly conduct. Ignoring rules and trying to manipulate situations can quickly escalate conflicts. Even when given a chance to comply, her refusal led directly to legal consequences, highlighting the importance of respecting boundaries and authority to avoid unnecessary trouble. Next, the employee believed she could deny everything, even in the face of undeniable evidence. >> Let's open in the safe now. >> Mhm. >> She's taking it out. >> I got charges on you for grand theft and organized scheme to defraud. >> Okay. What What did I defraud? On March 6th, 2025, police were dispatched to a Dollar General store after receiving a report of a theft that had taken place. The suspect was believed to be one of their own employees who had made over $10,000 in bank deposits vanish. To understand the details, the store manager then recounted what had happened. >> Um, have you guys got a hold of her? >> Yeah, she won't she don't answer the phone. Uh, she gave me some story about her being in the hospital. the loss prevention person that normally does this got tied up today, so he asked me to call and make a report. Um, >> so did she prove did she prove anything that she's at the hospital right now, though? >> No, she can't. No. >> How many deposits has she missed? >> Uh, we're missing $10,000 >> from like one deposit or >> No, it's six. It's a total of six deposits. >> I got it all printed out here. I just haven't been able to put it on the DVR yet, but I don't think you guys can take the pictures anyway, right? You have to I have to upload it. >> Yes. >> Yeah. So, I'll get all that. But basically all of these deposits that are in yellow. >> So I have a question. What's your phone number? >> 615. >> I could just write it down here so I could try to make contact with her. Are these >> Oh, her phone number. >> Yes. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you said mine. >> So these are from different This is from >> all these days right here except this one we did find. This one is good. So >> So how did how did you find this one? What does that mean? >> I went to the bank and the bank had this one. >> The bank did have that? >> Yes. And >> but they didn't have any of these. >> They don't have any of these? No. no record of it ever going >> Her name is Chelsea. And she's not even she's not she's not even signing them out under her name. She's signing them out under someone else's name. But on the video, we got video of her >> in here, right? >> Yeah. Well, up this the safe is up front. So, we got video of her taking it out and then um taking it out of the building. >> The suspect was believed to have refused to show up, claiming she was hospitalized. But shortly after, the manager began to question the validity of her proof of hospitalization. >> Was the hospital she was at? >> She did not. But we we know it's [ __ ] because she um we h we she actually hired a girl here that she used to work with at Dunkin Donuts. >> And the girl told us that she had the same issue, not the deposit issue, but the same thing about being in the hospital. Mhm. >> And when um when we showed her this picture, she's [snorts] like, "That's the same picture she used at her other job when she was there and told him she was in the hospital." >> And I knew it was kind of suspicious because in this picture here, she has red hair and she don't have red hair anymore. She dyed her hair. So that's the picture she sent me of the hospital. >> And then I look at the, you know, she sent me this as well. And then she sent the picture 2 days later, the same two pictures >> to her up front. >> Yeah. and it's the same picture with the same date and everything like this is the new update. It's not it's the same picture. >> To support his statement, the manager also provided crucial surveillance footage that captured her taking money from the safe. >> She's opening the safe now. >> Mhm. >> She's taking it out and she's putting it right in her [music] pocket there with her phone like all slick. >> Jeez. >> So, she never put she never came back here and like dropped it off here. She just walked out with that. >> Well, now, so now she holds on to the deposit. >> She comes back here at 8:48 >> and logs it out cuz here's the log right here. So 8:48, she logs it out. And then at 9:20, it 9:20 [music] day. Let me see what day she takes it from the store on that day. From the safe at 6:44, so that she has them in herself for like 2 hours. >> M. And then she leaves and then she comes back at 9:33. >> So her last day here was the 26th. >> No, her last day here was the 28th. >> The 28th. >> Yeah. >> All right. So I'll put that I'll send that email with all the description and all the times. >> You could you could add that to the email. Just send you the the request link. The actual change request link. You add that you can add the video footage of her leaving the store. Okay. So, the initial estimated value was clarified into six separate stolen deposits, bringing the total to exactly $13,241. At that point, another team of officers quickly located the woman and detained her. >> I got charges on you for grand theft and organized scheme to defraud. >> Yeah. What What did I defraud? >> Well, before I get into any of that, I have to read you your rights. Okay. >> All right. But that's what you're being charged with. And uh is there anyone else in the house right now? My phone sleeping. >> How old is your son? >> 18. >> 18. No one else? Any uh pets? >> Uh ferrets. >> Okay. No large dogs or anything? >> No. >> Or age, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Just check. >> It's okay. Listen, man. It's It's a statement and it takes some time and you just like 30 minutes ago. So, it's been like an hour. We'll see. >> You going to come with me right over here to my car? All right. >> Accompanying the suspect was a man who spoke on their behalf, serving as clear evidence that the woman was fully aware of what was happening. >> Before that, the district manager told she told him, "Look, the woman that Sonia, that's her cashier, she's the main one that be messing up the money before she got there." He knew that he wanted came in there. I was right there witnessing and everything. He had a ball. It was like 13,000 and he went to it and says 13,000. It seems like because she didn't put the numbers in, right? Cuz she numerous of times not doing that. And then next thing you know, well the thing is I'm going to tell you the truth. Um she leaves with the money supposed to deposit it. They never get deposited. >> Okay. Um, you want to explain why those funds were never deposited into the bank? >> No, I'd like to speak to it later. >> Okay. All right. So, we're not going to ask you any further questions. Um, we do have a search warrant for your house. Well, we will uh have one moment clearly and uh once we get done searching your house, uh you'll be on your way to jail. >> The woman completely refused to cooperate with the investigation while the man initially tried to deny everything. However, under the officer's questioning, he eventually revealed the full truth >> information about Well, I'm going to stop you there. Here's the thing. Okay. He comes, he says, "Hey, the 20th was never deposited." She goes, "Oh, wait. I have the slip." Goes, "We'll go get it." She brings him the slip and guess what? It's from the 27th. Okay. So, she deposited. >> Is there Is there any large amounts to make it easy for you guys? So, we're not here for hours for you especially. I don't know. Is there anywhere we should be looking to my knowledge? No cash? >> No, there should be no cash in the house. >> I do not go through my girls. So, honestly, I do not. >> She just got her tax refund. >> As I know, >> do you know how much that was? >> No, cuz it's all her fault. I don't >> It should That should have went straight to into her bank, right? >> The woman was charged with grand theft and an organized scheme to defraud. Attempting to cover your tracks with lies or fake excuses won't hide your actions. Surveillance records [music] and careful documentation leave a trail that can't be erased. And any scheme, no matter how clever, can quickly unravel. Next, this woman failed to escape after successfully committing the fraud. >> It's odd that two different vendors >> from two different states. >> Vendors. On January 24, police received a report from a business about the appearance of a suspicious check. When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with several people, but none of them were suspects. >> Okay. >> Welcome. We're Sun Coast Print Pro. >> This is Mr. and Mrs. Donnie. >> Hi. How are you? >> I'm terribly well. Thank you. >> Well, terribly well. That's good to hear. >> Oh, so boy, nobody can forget your name. >> Oh, I try not to. >> Yeah. >> So, what's going on? >> Come on in here. >> Unized wife. >> There you go. keeps you in line, right? >> Oh, congratulations. >> 1953. >> No, we've been This has been going on for a while and I'm just >> What? >> Must be a long story then. If I'm sitting down. >> Okay. [laughter] >> Perfect. That's when I go home. >> No, here's what happened. >> We obviously sell things, >> right? And we had um two different vendors, different places, and we receive we did not receive payment for our goods. >> Okay? >> So they said, "Oh, we wrote the check. We paid you." Blah, blah, blah. And we said, "Can you get a copy of the check front and back and you can do that? You can go to your bank. >> I mean, you can go online and go to the bank." Right? >> And they did. They both did. And they sent us copies. for clean up >> and >> so it said on there somewhere that it was cashed. >> Yeah. >> According to the statements of those involved, the check was forged, but due to their negligence, it was allowed to pass at that time. >> No, it was cashed. The bank said >> Oh, okay. Oh, so the bank said it was cashed. >> Mhm. Okay. And one bank was Bank of America. >> Mhm. >> For one of the vendors and they did their investigation. >> Mhm. >> And said, well, they gave the money back to the vendor. >> Okay. >> I mean, the customer and the customer then is going to send money to us. >> Okay. >> The other one that hasn't happened yet. They haven't finished their investigation. >> Okay. >> But both checks cuz we receive copies front and back. >> Mhm. from each vent, each customer, and both of them had the same endorsement on it, which is nothing. We don't we we scan ours. >> Mhm. >> And we don't write on it. This was a handwritten endorsement, >> which I can show you. >> So, what are you kind of looking for from us or from? >> Well, we were told that the bank told us that they can go no further because of privacy. You have to go to the police. There's not a whole lot I can do in terms of knowing where this was cashed, >> but I can but I can still document. I'm happy to do that. But we can't access like if I can't I can access less than a bank can unless we're dealing with like a really big fraudulent case >> detecting on this. It is a forgery. >> And >> the couple appeared to have examined the issue in detail. And at this point, they provided additional clues that gradually led investigators toward a suspect. >> And here's the endorsement. And look at the other customer. Here's the endorsement on the back of their check. >> Oh yeah, the signature is >> it's the same. And we don't that's not how we endorse it. >> So these are two separate vendors. So you have congruity and >> two different customers. >> Two different customers. Two different banks completely. It looks like what is the >> PWC bank? >> PNC and >> PNC and Bank of America. >> The customer wrote checks to us. >> Mhm. >> And somehow I think it got on our post office box and somebody intercepted it and cashed it. think locally and we cannot find out who that person was. >> That is difficult. >> Your help and we were told we could turn it over to a detective or a police officer. Okay. >> We could be investigating cuz it is for >> um did Bank of America tell you where it was cashed. Are they able to give a location? >> They wouldn't give us any information at all, which I think. >> Okay. Because typically though they can at least tell you where it was cashed. Um [music] >> they should be able to >> Yeah, they should have a record of it especially when you're dealing with >> clearly although there was suspicion toward the individuals involved there was no certainty to accuse them making the situation difficult and the police explained this issue. I mean, >> a lot of places always tell us to tell people to go to the police because it's an easy response, but there's only certain things that we can do, you know. So, um I'll probably just forward this to detectives because they handle fraud cases. We don't really handle fraud at a patrol level cuz it's much more detailed and very very timeconuming, especially try to get a hold of the right person. Um, which one of you would like to be my person, my point of contact? Oh, I guess me. >> Okay. What's your first name? >> She's more knowledgeable about Houston. >> And your last name? >> 6104. >> What's a good phone number for you? >> Well, you can call me here. >> That's fine. What's the number? >> In your data. Okay. Did they say when these were cashed? >> Would that show up on the back of the >> It might be on the back of the >> That be >> Well, it says date on there, but I'm assuming that's when they probably wrote it. >> The back of the check. >> Oh, here's the picture. >> Oh, here's it. Oh, here it is. Where does it say? Um, >> no. That's a fiasco. That one right there. >> Yeah, I have no idea what that means. I don't want to write the wrong thing. >> The investigation was extended for several months and police eventually identified the suspect and unexpectedly arrested her while she was at work. >> Okay. >> Do you have anything personal here like your purse or keys? Okay, we'll take that for you. Do you have your phone with you or? >> Yes, it's in my pocket. >> Okay. >> Keys. >> Yeah. And that's basically it. >> No purse or anything that goes with you? >> Yeah, it's in the in the lock marker. >> Walk back. >> Okay. Deactate. We're 105. Yep. Yep. We uh we're out front now. That's just this. >> Okay. >> Yes. This is her purse. other things that we found. >> The woman did not resist at all. Appeared unaware of what had happened and even at the police station showed no remorse. >> All right, just go ahead and have a seat as soon as we're female. Uh the tus get here, we'll let them know that you need to go to the restroom. We'll make that happen. Okay. >> Mhm. >> Look in about five minutes. Just be patient. Okay. >> [ __ ] off. >> All right. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Oh, okay. Not going to ask for >> what do you mean? >> Okay. She's going to be back and then only that thing can come out. >> Yes. Correct. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> All right. Is there any more stop? Just put the trash can after or something. >> She was charged with forgery, uttering a forged instrument. Forge checks might slip through at first, but persistence and patience in an investigation eventually expose the truth, proving that fraud always leaves a trail.
