You understand these rights? So, I've read them. >> Okay. Do you still wish to speak me? Well, now you're over 18, so you're going to go to jail, too. >> I can call someone. >> On the 12th of May, 2026, police were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report of two girls who had skip scanned 23 items to avoid paying for them. When officers arrived, neither of them showed any remorse. >> Hello. How are we going? >> Who we got? This is none of that stuff right there before. I'm going just let you look at the video. They've been cool with me. They cooperated and all of that. >> Y'all got ideas? >> This is them passing the latest point of sale. >> And you cool with it? They hang out here? >> Yeah, you're being cool. >> Okay. So, first I'm going to read you these things. I'm going ask some questions. Doesn't mean that you are under arrest just because you're detained locked in here. Um I got to read you these. Uh, so you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can't be used against you in the court of law. Do you have the right to talk to the lawyer? I didn't. You understand these rights? So I read them. >> Okay. Do you still wish to speak with me? >> Okay. >> From smiling to yawning while listening to their rights. They acted as if the whole situation were just a game, showing no understanding of how serious it was. Even the story one of the suspects later told was almost impossible to believe. >> We clearly have y'all on video. What's up? What's going on? Why? >> So, I started scanning stuff and whenever I got to my cherry, I was like I was getting mad because I scared my cherries and it's like select the weight or whatever. So, I have to wait for the store associate and I'm sitting there and I'm waiting and she comes and she cancelled it and it pissed me off and I'm like, "Okay." So, that was my first straw. It was done and it's been a rough day, okay, for a really bad day. Um, then I have to resale my cherries. So, I res my cherry and does it again. And I just I get so mad I just yeah start [ __ ] just pissing me off cuz everything is pissing me off. >> I just had a very bad day. >> So you having a really bad day is what led you to not completely scanning everything and nothing >> scanning everything because every time I would just sit there and wait for the register the lady register start putting straight away. I'm like I'm waiting this longer wait on it. Okay. What about the Legos? >> You didn't even pay attent. >> No, I Yeah, I was mad. I was justly I was pissed off. >> I can show you my checking account. I can't pay for everything just fine. But it was the fact that >> it all came down to the mad that had gotten her into this situation. So, you might wonder what exactly made her so mad. The officer questioned that immediately afterward. So, so just cuz genuinely you were mad is why >> the whole me checking out situation? Yeah. I started checking out and it's not just like being easy. It's having me other complicated ladies and she has other people to take care of but like I'm not being public's not good. It's >> everything is still in my account. I've had no problem paying for anything. It's just the fact I was pissed off. >> And what about at the very end when you walk back all the way around instead of going through the park and I didn't wedge my way through making me too. >> Okay. >> They were cool about it. So because of the amount I got two, you have any weapons or anything like that? >> No. >> No. [music] >> In fact, both suspects believed they would avoid any legal consequences because they were still minors. But the officers quickly shattered that belief when they revealed there was something else that could make their situation even worse. >> So unfortunately, here's what we're going to do. Both of you are going to end up going to jail today. >> What? >> Yeah. You have a warrant. So you're going definitely going. >> Yes. So you have a warrant for possession of alcohol under the age of 21. >> I want to call someone, >> huh? Yeah. You can call someone once you get to jail. So >> you mind turn around? How long are you getting here? >> So, you'll end up being judge and then after that he'll determine what uh what's going to happen. >> Well, this might be a crude cuz y'all got really small wrists. Can you stand up? Turn around back. Stick your stuff down. We'll be able to come. I'll make sure I come back to you. >> That means we're going to be in the same area. Most likely they'll put it all together the whole time. >> I really hope so. >> I'm 19. >> Well, now you're over 18, so you're going to go to jail, too. >> So, I can call someone. >> Yeah, you will be able to call someone. >> All right. So, what we're going to do first is we're going to go get sit in my car. I'm going to have a female deputy come and they're going to have to do a search just cuz a I'm by myself and I'm can't do that. So, uh we're going to go have a seat in my car and hang out for a little bit. So, The search was carried out immediately afterward, but the worst was yet to come. The [snorts] officer found something else that could add even more charges to their list. >> Why is it in your possession? >> Okay, I live with him. We put everything away. Whenever the landlord comes, I'm cur by the couch and Ken was on the couch. Landlord came by. He put his pen in my purse. I didn't see >> Yes. there. >> Do you have anything that'll hurt me or something? >> Do you find your ID? >> Yeah, it's in our pocket. Dang, that's a good sign. They look brown. >> So, did you magically spawn your ID as well or do you not still not have it? >> This is my car >> in your car. >> My you get your [ __ ] together because y'all got too many good things to look forward to. And as you can tell, Walmart is on. So, um, we're going to get we're going to get try to get somebody to come get your this is her phone. >> Please don't bring my car to my mom's house. >> Social media. >> Yeah. >> Get them off the mug shots. >> Yeah. two people were committing crime. Excuse my language. >> I'm pretty sure I called him. >> It was $183. >> No, that's still not good. Not good at all. Now, you have that THC pen, too. So, that's felon. It's not like leafy marijuana. That's That's fant. Oh. >> Both suspects were found guilty of petty theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. [music] Each received a $500 fine, mandatory community service, and a permanent ban from that Walmart. Their biggest mistake was treating shoplifting like a harmless game and assuming their age would protect them from consequences. One bad decision quickly became a much bigger legal problem, proving that careless choices can turn a simple theft into multiple charges. >> Why are you making me arrest? >> Listen, look at me. Look at me. Why we're arresting you is cuz you just stole. >> No, you just call me a [ __ ] piece of >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> No, you're going to jail now. >> Please. I'm >> No, that's how it works. >> On the 1st of November 2025, officers responded to a Walmart after receiving a report of an ongoing shoplifting incident. A woman had been watched after she was seen concealing several items in her bags. This was what happened when the officers arrived at the scene. >> How you doing, Betty? >> Oh, he said he was here, but you must not be here yet. >> I haven't seen anyone yet. Sorry. Sorry it took so long to get. >> So it's this one right here. She just put back the dress right now and some of the jewelry, but she still got some other. It's the cheap jewelry. It's not that expensive. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> But she put some other in some of the white >> the white bags that she's running right now. >> But I don't know what she's doing right now. Do you have an one? >> I got one. Oh, one there. >> Oh, there she is. >> That one right there. >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. We're going to talk with her in just a second, right? >> Hello. >> Hello. >> So, she's been walking on apparel and she's just going around and around. She's selecting I got six. >> So, you will go for now. We're not going to be able to wait. >> It's your fault if you want to go. We can go and ask her inside or we can wait for her to try to exit. >> Well, I mean, it's it's >> What do you guys want? Do you guys want her to Do you want your stuff back or do you want to catch her for that? Well, I would like to trespass her and persecute, but if we tough her inside, we're not going to be able to do that. >> What? >> If we stop her inside. >> Correct. >> Because she might say, "Oh, I was going to pay for it." >> Yeah. >> Really? >> But the thing is that if I ask you guys to be able to >> How long has she been in the store already? >> I think like about an hour. Yeah, she's for like about an hour. >> Additionally, while monitoring her, Walmart employees noticed several unusual behaviors from the suspect, which made them even more suspicious of her. >> She's coming back. >> And her friend already left. >> Yeah, she was with a male. The male was on the phone the whole time and she was on the front end like this like she was felling asleep. So that's what I told the operator that probably she's under some influence. >> Yeah. cuz she was like she was falling. >> Um and then she started walking. It's a lengthy motion. Guys, >> she going to exit all at the front. >> Yeah, she's coming to the front right now. Hopefully, she's going to try to exit >> cuz she has been doing the exactly same thing like three four times. She walk to the back and then come back in and go to apparel. >> So, let's >> She's going to check out right now. Is is that where she just turned to or went back? Oh, >> she just turned into the female. >> This is the front towards us. >> Yeah, she just put the dress in one of those shel. Let's see if she selected once again cuz she just selected dress. The dress fell. So, she grabbed it and put it in one of the rides. >> I think she's walking to the dress. Yeah, she's walking to the dress. >> I think Melissa already got it. >> She like hit it or something. >> No, she concealed. Oh, yeah. The dress is right there. She conceal. >> She concealed a dress inside her jacket, but it fell. So, she just grabbed it from the floor and put it on the front. >> Oh. >> At this [music] point, the surveillance ended when the suspect started heading outside. Everyone moved in to approach her by surprise. You're going to accident. >> They said stop. That means stop. >> I don't have any more stuff on me. >> Better way. Police. Put your hands behind your back. >> It's all in there. I don't have any on your left. I promise it's all in the bag. I'm not >> Relax your arms. >> Why are you arresting me? >> Relax your arms. You're stealing. >> I put And again, it's in the bag. I >> Relax your arm. >> Why are you arresting me? Please don't arrest me. >> Listen. Look at me. Look at me. Why we're arresting you is cuz you just stole. You don't get to drop the items and that's how it works. >> I'm sorry. Please. >> No, you're not. You're sorry. You got caught. That's what it is. >> No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Don't Please don't arrest me. I'm begging you. >> Too too late. You're already arrested. >> I'm begging you. Please don't stop doing anything. >> No, you wouldn't cuz you didn't even want to stop. >> I would never do this. Please, man. >> She played innocent, pretending she had no idea what she had done, even after denying the theft herself. And of course, that act didn't fool the nononsense cop. >> You talking about yourself? >> William, you're the one stealing. And then and then when told you're stealing, you tried to run away. Have a seat. I'm >> fine. Whatever. >> Guess who's going to jail now? You. >> No, you just called me a [ __ ] piece of >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> No, you're going to jail now. >> Please. I'm >> That's how it works. >> And you had more in your pockets. >> Those are mine. I got those from Target. Those I got from Target. >> You probably stole those from Target, too. >> No, I did not. I bought those. I bought those. still on. >> No, I got you. >> Okay, stand up real quick so I can see your spine. >> All right, go ahead and take a seat. >> What's your name? >> Maryanne. Is that one word? >> As pitiful as she tried to look, she clearly showed no real remorse. On top of that, officers discovered that she still had an active warrant in her name. >> Did my partner let you know you have a warrant as well with Redmond for assault for thefty? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yeah, I'm just letting you know. And that one's for I think like 5,000 or something like that. >> So, are we doing new charges or we just >> No, I'm doing new charges, too. But we'll do a site for her new charges. She'll get booked on her warrant. So, we'll give her >> Yeah, we'll just give her a physical copy that can go in her belongings. >> Correct. >> I will go do the site. >> Cool. You're never going to get out of jail for your misdemeanor warrant. >> I bet you'll be out like next week. >> So, uh you're going to be booked on your warrant. We're writing a citation for your your shoplifting charge. So, that'll go on your property. So, you'll deal with that. I'm I'm going to write your court date two weeks out, but you'll deal with that whenever you need to. >> You understand why we're going this route? >> So, shoplifting. I'm not asking you to to talk about your crime at all. But you were shoplifting and then upon contact of your shoplifting for loss prevention cuz I tried to let them contact you and then you decided to throw all the stuff on the ground and then just leave which is not how shoplifting works. You don't get to just throw the stuff back and not get caught and that's how it works. That's never how shoplifting works. You walked past all points of sale, tried to get contact by loss prevention officers, still disregarded their commands, then police contact you, and then when police contact you, I don't know if you didn't know it was me or what, but you're still trying to get away. So, I tried my best to give you about as many options as possible. And then on top of that, we're walking back here and you call me a piece of [ __ ] >> I wasn't joining you. I'm sorry. >> At this point, with everything confirmed, the officers explained what the woman was now facing. But could she do anything to change what came next? So, this is your new citation for the theft recharge, right? This is different from the warrant that we're taking you in on from Redmond. Okay. >> So, this has your court date on it as well. I need you to listen for a second, Marian. This has your court date on it and has your case number. >> I don't care. >> Okay. Well, you're going to have another warrant if you don't go anyway, so I don't care. >> So, we can't take any of the food. That's to go home. >> Yeah. >> And then this food is full. >> I'm never going to get out. >> Well, that's not our fault. You can't keep committing crimes and expect to just stay out free. >> No, I don't. I just want to go home. I would do anything. >> No, you you have active warrants and then shoplifting on top of that. And then I mean, I can get you with obstructing if I wanted. >> Go ahead. >> Okay, then you just stay in jail for longer. >> Stand up. We're not going to play this game. Absolutely. Can I have those? >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and taken into custody on an existing warrant for assault and theft. Every choice has consequences, and trying to deny or walk away from a crime does not erase what happened. An active warrant can make an already serious situation even worse. Put the >> stuff up in the bag and y'all are all walking to the front and then you stop. >> We've been here so many times and I get you're trying to protect your mom. >> But that one >> hear me out. >> On the 4th of June 2025, officers were dispatched to Target after receiving a report of a woman and two family members shoplifting. What made the situation worse was that this was not the first time they had been involved in such an incident and the officers quickly recognized the faces of her family members. >> That's not how I raised. >> I know you. I think I think everybody does at this point. >> Everybody knows. >> We're both. >> Wait, where do you know me from? >> I remember you. >> Where? How do you know me? >> I don't know you. I know I know your sister. Is that your sister? >> Wait, how? I saw you down in Banel. >> I know you. >> When she just got charged for. >> I'm not. >> You're the one that was sitting with me and the baby. >> That's what I was sitting with you. >> You're pretty sweet. I like you. >> Not too bad yourself. But I mean, >> I'm out here with you guys again. >> No, she's pretty sweet. You know, the one that was watching over me and the baby when you were getting Russian. >> I don't give a about that. One charge is already dropped. >> Childhood. >> None of that. None of that matters. I'm not here for that. We're here for something different today. >> That charge got dropped. I went to court and literally they told me to go downstairs and then they go, >> "Oh, it's dropped >> yesterday morning." >> Yeah. See, I'm not here to hold anything against anybody. >> No, I didn't have a problem with the actual county. The state trooper, me and him. >> He came up here. >> He was rude as hell from the getgo. And I don't >> He's a good guy, too. He's a good trooper. >> They spoke casually as if they were not the ones who had just been caught doing something wrong. They even innocently asked whether she could come back to the store and shop again. >> Trespass or now? >> What do you mean? >> Like, let's say >> they don't give you paperwork. Yeah. >> And they say you're trespass. >> Yeah. You're trespass. >> If I don't get it, though. And they say you ain't. >> You're going to get it. >> I ain't never got in there in over a year. >> Okay. But they were told you you're trespassed, right? >> Not really. They just told me um not to come in. >> That doesn't mean you're trespassed then. >> It was like one of the workers. He was having a bad day. He's like, "I just don't want you back in the store." >> Yeah. It'll mean nothing. >> Hang tight for us. Okay. Let's figure out what's going on because Cor wants to do something different. >> Yeah, she's with the kids on the video. I watched the video. It's all on the on the surveillance. >> What's going on? >> We're trying to figure something out. I know my supervisor wants to do something different. Okay. >> What would your supervisor? >> That's what we're trying to figure out. Hey, remember, look, you remember the last time we weren't scared. Nothing bad happened. >> I was scared. >> Nothing bad happened. >> What do you mean? Wait a second. You're like, how do you know? >> We're Wait, let me let me see what's going on. You were like, "How do you know she's going to jail?" I was like, "Cuz" and then I was like, "Mom, you're going to jail." And look what happened. You went to jail. >> Look, I'm not primary. >> I don't know what's happening now. >> Me either. Cuz I just got told I'm free to go. And then >> give us a minute and figure out what's going on. Okay. >> What the hell's going on? >> You don't get so hard. I'm not. >> The mother was handcuffed and detained while officers continued their investigation. When questioned about what happened, she completely lied about the story. contradicting what the surveillance footage showed. What's >> going on? >> Okay. All right. Want to know what's going on? So, the there's video that shows that you put a blanket in your kid's possession >> and I told them not to do it. >> You told them not to do what? So, you put the blanket in their possession. >> I put it in there cuz they said they want it and I looked at my wallet and I didn't have a money and I told them not to do it. >> As as the adult, why didn't you take the belonging away from them knowing that you couldn't afford it? Why didn't you take it away and why did you let them walk out the door? >> I didn't let them walk out. I was already out of the building, >> right? You didn't even you didn't supervise them on on any aspect. Okay. >> And then you can even ask my daughter. She even told them I told him not to. >> All right. So, hang tight. >> She's going to jail. It's okay. >> She is going to jail. Yes, >> she is. Perfect to know. >> I told you I'd tell you whatever you wanted to know. >> Thank you. >> Put in the bag. >> What's up? >> It's for putting in the bag. Huh? Because she told us not to shop list. >> I'm not really sure. I'm not the primary deputy. Okay. But not all cops are dicks. Most of them were so nice to me. >> Sadly, her family members seemed to accept what was happening to their mother without much reaction. Still unaware of how serious the situation was. While the mother continued to deny responsibility. >> So, it's on video. You put one in the bag. >> And I told him not I didn't have enough money and I told him not to do it. I couldn't. >> And then you all and then all y'all walk out. >> I didn't all walk out. I was way over across the >> It's on video, y'all. right in front. You go and then they follow you out. So, why did you put the one in her bag if >> Because I put on paid for it, but my cash has one and I like it so I have enough on it. >> Well, unfortunately, this is where we're at. >> No, it's not. Whatever. Cuz now I'm in >> You have the hard drive with the video? >> Yeah. >> Can I get that, please? >> All right. Do you I mean, so is there a reason why why she walked out with it? >> I don't do I mean, you're you're the adult here. Is there a reason why she walked out or not? >> And you So then why didn't you take the items out of the bag and and put them back? >> No, the fish is gone. >> That's fine. You don't have to leave those at this time. Is there a reason why? >> I just sat there and told her to put it back. She didn't put it back. >> Okay. But you're the adult getting charged and they're getting because you're the adult. >> When I just Why would your be charged when you're the adult and you're resp? >> Well, no. We w we just watched the video. >> I know. Myself and Corporal Quint. >> The full video wasn't done at the No, we're past that. Like I said, the video that we just watched, you're deliberately putting the stuff in the bag and y'all are all walking to the front and then you stop. You start walking and they follow you right behind. >> And I was talking to him, tell them not to do it, but I didn't have the money for it. She seemed to be trying to put all the blame on her family members to prove her innocence. She was then escorted away, but the situation did not end there as the officer had some advice for the remaining family members. >> Hey, we've been How many times have I seen you now? >> Twice. But it's my fault. This one >> Hey, listen. What's your name again? >> Ashley. >> Ashley. We've been here so [snorts] many times. And I get you're trying to protect your mom. >> Put that one. >> Hear me out. Hear me out. because I have my cash and all I need to have money. >> I know you're trying to protect your mom, >> but it's wrong. >> She needs as as your parent, she needs to look out for you. Look, Ashley, you cannot continue to protect her decisions. The choices she makes is the choices she makes. Okay? I want to see you do better. I've seen you more than enough times in situations that you should not be in. It's okay. Wait, so I'm not I don't have to do nothing because Okay, thank God. >> How did they get here? >> The van. >> Okay, cuz she has suspended license, too, and she knows that. So, I just wanted to at least talk to you and give you an idea. Uh that that's kind of what's going on. So, >> would you want me to go ahead and take the van? Would you rather it sit here until tomorrow? >> That's up to her. It's her van and that's up to Target. If Target's okay with it staying overnight until someone can get it, >> I can take it. Like, that don't bother me. Okay. Do you want to Will you take her uh to go ask her if she wants her to take the van out of here and all that? >> Sure. >> All right. So, you're okay with her taking your kids in the car? >> All righty. We'll do. >> In the [music] end, the woman's children were allowed to leave with their guardian while the mother was charged with petite theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. [snorts] The case showed how quickly poor decisions can place an entire family in a difficult situation. Taking responsibility instead of shifting blame is crucial, especially when the evidence clearly tells a different story. >> No, you're not going to touch my horse. You can keep that. >> Not cooperative. >> You are under arrest. >> How did you not walk out that door? >> Do not move. You are under arrest. >> On the 24th of May, 2023, officers approached two women believed to be a mother and daughter who were attempting to leave the store with a shopping cart containing several unpaid items. When officers confronted them, the mother immediately became difficult and uncooperative. Here is what happened next. >> Yes. >> Like what? >> You were ringing stuff packets and then you rang up a tank top for the shirt. >> I'm going to hang on to your purse for you. >> No, you're not going to touch my purse and you can keep that. >> He's not cooperative. You're under arrest. You are under arrest. >> How you going to walk out the door? >> I can't walk out that door. >> Do not move. You are under arrest. You are under arrest. Do not move. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Just follow. Go with them. >> Go with them. I need you to come here. Place your hands behind your back. >> I'm not going to jail. >> I didn't say you're going to jail. I said you're under arrest. >> No. That's >> Sir, you cannot touch this. I can't. You are. They completely refused to listen to the officers and repeatedly tried to avoid them. At that point, the mother ran back inside the store, causing the situation to escalate even further. >> You are under arrest. >> I did not go nowhere. I did not even go nowhere. What is wrong with you? Get your hands off of me. >> Okay, get your hands off of me. >> You're hurting me. >> You're hurting me. >> You need to back up because she's pregnant. >> She didn't leave. >> I didn't even go nowhere. I'm not messing. She didn't leave the door. >> So therefore, you can't grab on her. >> Okay. Okay. Can you let me go? Let go. >> No, I cannot. I can under arrest. >> No, she's not under arrest. She didn't leave out. >> I didn't even go nowhere. >> Watch out. Get off her. >> Okay. Get Can you just let me go? >> I cannot. >> Okay, I will do what you do. >> This is my daughter. Can you stop, please? >> I need her to leave me alone. >> Stop. Okay, Pyra, stop. >> No, Pyra, stop. Okay, she's pregnant. Please let me go and I I will calm down. Stop. Why are you squeezing my arm? Get her phone and record this. >> No, he didn't do nothing. He didn't You didn't walk out the door. >> Okay. >> What are you doing? I'm not even doing nothing. >> Get off of her. She didn't go out the door. So, >> I'm not even doing nothing. >> Let her go. >> I'm not even doing them. So, you have to let her go. >> She is pregnant. >> Okay, real simple. You guys are under arrest. >> You're not in charge for that. >> Put your hands in front of you. Clearly, the situation became even more complicated when the daughter, who was also believed to be pregnant, repeatedly interfered. The officer had to separate the two women, but [snorts] she made the process anything but easy. >> It's not up for debate. >> It's not up for debate. >> Get the [ __ ] out. >> Then stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. I'm offering to handcuff. Do not interfere with me. Stop it. >> I'm trying to not hurt you. You are under arrest. You are not in charge of this. >> Move. [screaming] Get the off of me. Get off of me. Get off of me. Get the [ __ ] [screaming] off. What? >> No. >> Well, you got to stop fighting. Okay. >> All right. Stand up. Stand up for me. Put your hands behind your back. Okay. >> Put your hands on your back. >> Get off of me. I didn't do nothing. Get the off. >> You're under arrest. Let's go. >> Get off of me. I didn't do nothing. Get the [ __ ] off. >> Don't touch me. to do that. >> You ain't have to hit her. >> You twice her age, man. You ain't have to do >> It seemed that the women's behavior caused some people around them to misunderstand the situation and take their side. This only gave them more confidence to continue denying their actions afterward. Have you seen your rights? You have seen your rights. >> Yes, you are under arrest for theft. Okay. It doesn't matter if you haven't left the store. Once you pass the last point of sale, >> I didn't pass nothing. Okay. Once you conceal an item, it is theft whether you are in the store or not. >> Okay. >> All right. We're not having court out here. Just go. >> Okay. >> What's your name, young lady? >> My name is See my ID. I watched you look through the whole purse. There's nothing in there. I didn't steal nothing. You didn't see me walk out with nothing. >> Okay. So, you are under arrest right now. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, the courts will point one to you. You have the right to stop answering questions anytime. You should talk to an attorney. You also have the right to stop answering questions at any time. You understand what your rights are? Okay. >> Despite everything they had done, the women showed no sign of remorse or shame. The mother even smiled during the ride to the police station with her daughter, appearing completely unfazed by the situation. >> Come on out, ma'am. >> You need some milk? >> Yeah. All right. It's going to be a little easier if you can lean back a little bit and get the other leg out. >> Okay. >> There you go. >> All right. Now we can scoot forward. >> Now you can press against the frame. There you go. Scoot yourself. >> I can't honestly can't. Hold on. >> All right. Let me do this. >> Try to take me out like that. >> Ready? Watch your head. Watch your head. Watch your head. Watch your head. There you go. Scoop. Scoop. Scoop. Scoop. Scoop. Scoop. There you go. There you go. >> Can I tell you something? >> What's up? I would have even though I was as mad as I was, I would have never took care of that warrant. I believe it because I never I actually forgot about it. And he said, >> "If you don't get bond posted tonight, you'll see a judge in the morning." >> You okay? Where's your purse? >> Stop playing with me. I'm going to get your purse and stuff. >> Um, he said my phone is on the >> Yep. I'll get it all. >> Watch your foot, please. Hey, real quick. While I got both of you here, I want to say this now so I don't forget later. Okay? Now, understand that what I'm about to say, I tell every person that I take to kind of deal. It is not a personal thing. It is not an accusation. It is a statement. Okay? If you have anything on you, any drugs, any paraphernalia, or any weapons right now, >> ladder doesn't have a paraphernalia. >> Oh, right. Including marijuana. You got no, again, >> I'm not making a judgement. I'm making a taste, right? >> In the end, both women were arrested for shoplifting and resisting arrest. This case shows how quickly a shoplifting incident can escalate when someone refuses to cooperate with officers. Denying the situation or resisting the arrest only creates more problems and can lead to additional charges. >> Oh, take me to jail. >> Swap those shoes out. >> No, no, take me to jail right now. >> I'm not I'm not I'm not leaving with I'm not leaving with nothing. Y >> Congratulations. You got your wish and go to jail. >> Thank you. Whatever the quickest way down. Child molester. Child molester. >> On the 6th of January 2026, officers were dispatched to the fitting room area at JC Penney in Northwoods Mall after receiving a report of a woman suspected of shoplifting and hiding inside. As soon as she stepped out, she was in for a surprise. >> Hello. Do you have any clothes on that you selected from J. Penney? >> The ones that's in here. >> Okay. Is >> I need the red shirt. >> What red shirt? The one that's my sweatshirt. >> I don't have no red shirt under here. >> The Arizona one. >> What Arizona shirt? >> The one that you are wearing currently. >> First off, listen. I had the shirt on when I came in here. >> Okay. So, I have video of you selecting it. I don't want to argue with you about it. >> Let's go. >> We can charge you with retail stuff. That's fine. >> We can do that. We can go to jail right now. We can I want you to take him down there. Let's go. >> How long have you >> anything else in here that's yours? Wait. >> Wait. Nothing. No. Let's go. >> No. I said wait. >> We're going to go to the car. Stop. Stop touching me. >> We're not done. >> Stop touching me. >> What makeup and stuff she might have in her purse that is ours. >> Her attitude showed that she had no intention of cooperating or being honest. She then arrogantly sat down in a chair and continued arguing, claiming that she had every right to do what she was doing. >> Okay. Can we check just to make sure that there's nothing in your >> must be the one that be on kids and you must be the one that be on kids because I'm not going to keep doing this weird. Y'all know for a fact that I have permission to do everything I'm doing right now. Y'all keep want to try this weird with me. Like I said, y'all did this yesterday. Y'all know for a fact y'all have meed up once again. Y'all want to keep doing this. Y'all want to keep I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to the police. And then you know you're going to lose your job. The man that owns this mall knows that he told you to leave me the alone. Like I said when y'all gave me that Burgly charge like you were there. Yeah. Berkeley charge. >> Whatever. Like I said, y'all know for a fact I be have permission to do everything I'm doing. Like I said, I've been told you mother that there's people around here kids and bringing them to certain places and doing certain things. Like y'all want to keep acting, keep doing this little dumb ass not going to keep doing with y'all. We keep doing the same thing over and over again. So like I said, you know what? Like I said, I came in here with this shirt. I came in here with the shirt. But if you want to say I stole it, I I'll take it off right in front of you. Okay. >> As long as I get my shirt [ __ ] with you, [ __ ] Who the [ __ ] Ain't no tags on this. This is mine. Been mine. mine. Mine mine mine. >> She kept talking non-stop, making her excuses increasingly rambling and repetitive. Even when the employee brought up the other items, she was more than willing to keep escalating the situation. >> Mom, where's my pop shoes? >> What pop shoes? >> There was one more pair of shoes. >> No, there were not. >> No, there was not. No, there was not. >> Very last one. >> No, there was not. No, there was not. >> Do you have anything that was stuffed in your purse? Well, they're going to look at the video. So, we're trying >> to look at it right now. >> Okay. We're trying to cut you a break. >> I don't want a break. I want y'all to take me down to the police station right now. Why are you doing it? I stole this. Look, I'm taking this right now. Take me, please. I want you to >> Why do you want to go to jail so much? >> Cuz I want you to take me down there. >> Why? >> Take me. >> Look, take me. I'm dead serious. Take me. Take me in here. >> I am so serious. I'm taking all this [ __ ] with me and I'm not leaving. So, take me down to the police station. Take me down. Take me down. My shoes down there. I'm taking everything. >> Oh, those are your shoes. >> Take me down here. >> Those are these shoes down there. Look, I'm taking her shoes. Listen, listen to what I'm saying. >> She's wearing these shoes. >> Listen to me when I'm telling you what I'm telling you. >> I'm taking all this with me. So, take me to jail. >> All right. Swap those shoes out. >> No. Take me to jail. Swap those shoes out. >> No. No. Take me to jail right now. >> I'm not I'm not I'm not leaving with I'm not leaving with nothing. Take me to jail. Take me to jail. Y'all already know how to go. Take me to jail. Take me down there right now. Put me back on the on the community, whatever y'all call it. Put me back on that right now cuz y'all know y'all doing this right now. Stop playing with me. We're not going to keep doing this weird. Take me to jail. I'm not I'm not I'm not up in this. I'm not up. So take me to jail. Take me to jail. >> You want to just do your trespass and then she walks out then we'll just deal with her. >> Take me to jail. >> I mean they're still my shoes. >> Take not yours. You're going to get fired. >> All right. So you understand if you don't swap those shoes out, you are going to be arrested. No. >> Behind the woman's arrogance seemed to be embarrassment as she was repeatedly confronted about the suspected stolen items. That appeared to be why she kept demanding to be taken away. And moments later, that request was finally granted. >> If you don't swap those shoes out, you're going to be arrested. So, >> let's go. Do your best. >> Let's go. Okay. You're from me. Stop me. Take me down. What the >> No, I'm not listen. >> You want to go ahead and walk out? in jail. I've been said that. What the you talking about? I'm not listening about. I didn't told you. You know what's going to happen. >> I don't give a told you take me to jail. I told them to take me to jail when I was at the hospital. Quit playing with me. I'm not playing with you. >> You know exactly what's going to happen as soon as you walk out that door. >> What's going to happen? >> All righty. Now you're under arrest for yourself theft. You want to do all this extra thath? You're doing that. You're doing that. You're doing that. You're doing that. What? You want to do something right? You know, I haven't come over here when I said I was doing. >> What the? >> Congratulations. You got your wish and go to jail. >> Thank you. >> Child molester. Child molester. Child molester. Child molester. Child molester. Child molester. Child molester. >> You got your camera on this podcast cuz your buddy yesterday didn't turn his head on the way. He posted. Child molester. Child molester. What you look what you look behind you for >> child molester. Put my arm down. Put my arm down. >> She clearly knew what she was doing. Taking advantage of her young age and her rights as a citizen. She accused the officers instead. Even putting on an act to portray herself as the victim. >> What am I doing? Shut up. >> Oh my god. My ankle. You broke molester. Quit playing with me. Oh my god. >> Stand and walk. >> Aiden, can you start the wagon for a female? Oh my gosh, you're hurting my face. >> All right, I'm done with this. >> Let my jacket go, you goof. >> Just walk. >> No, I don't want to walk. My ankle hurt the car. >> I can hear you say I'm going to break on my child. Tie blaster. Don't push me. >> Get in the car. >> Don't push me, [ __ ] >> Get in the car. >> Don't push me. >> I just want you. All right, we're going to swap those shoes out cuz they ain't blonde, dude. >> Don't be rough. >> I'm not trying to be relaxed. >> You need to do it right. >> Let me see the other foot. >> Anyways, you hear me? That black does not make you slim. Okay, >> you still want I just want you know that. I know you come to work every day in all black and makes you look bigger than what you are. I just want you to know. >> Give me my shoes. >> Put your feet in there. >> Give me my shoes. >> You'll get your shoes. >> Shut up. The woman showed no shame and continued acting arrogantly, yelling and talking to the people around her as if nothing serious was happening. >> But you don't have to bend my leg. I'm trying to be active. I'm being nice. I'm being >> bless. So I need you to turn back to your left. >> And if you'd like, >> I can lift it up. >> Yeah. Okay. >> I rather lift it up and you bend my Hey, fat. I just want you to know, like I said, that black does not make you slim. That black does not make you slim. You still as fat as you were yesterday and you still as fat the day you were born. You big. I just want you to know that. You hear me? I know you hear me. You want to act like you don't hear me? Just let you know. You're fat as >> Are you doing that towards me? >> Yeah. You look like you do meth. Like I said, yeah, I know it's funny. Methhead and a fat. I'm not talking PhD. Like I said, I mean fat as fat. You're a big You look like you do mess with your mom. Talking about them. You don't want to sit here and look. And then you got on these bogus Tims. How the [ __ ] are you walking around with them bogus Tim? They're bending. >> We'll come inside. >> All types of All types of And you take my earphones. Don't put my ear. I don't care. >> I don't care. >> You have a pocket now. Any other pockets besides what her search? >> No. You won't touch my breast. I thought you touched my keys. >> No, >> Tiana R. Brown, 26, was charged with retail theft and disorderly conduct after she was caught wearing and carrying merchandise she had taken from JC Penney. Being young does not put anyone above the law, and arrogance will not make the consequences disappear. When the evidence is clear, refusing to cooperate can only make the situation worse. I've been harassed by you guys for weeks now and I can't take it anymore. >> Some battery on police officers. You guys have been harassing me. You guys have been bothering me. >> On the 21st of January 2025, police received a call from Walmart reporting a woman concealing merchandise. More notably, this was not her first time at the store for suspected shoplifting. When officers arrived, the loss prevention team provided a detailed account of her actions. This the man, right? >> Yeah. You got this female. Uh, that's her. She's in the bathroom right now. Okay. >> She selected and concealed clothing in her waistband. So, we think she's in the restroom right now putting the clothes on. James has a pulled right. Okay. >> I got her. >> She put them in the back first. What? >> No, she put them in her waistband. >> Oh, wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa waistband. I'm sorry. >> Good going to the bathroom. >> It's been like what? 5 minutes now. >> 5 minutes. >> You guys have caught her before. >> Yeah, that's her. >> She's been trespasser. >> No, we gave her a break. So, this time we will pursue trespass. And then it has her driver's license there, too. >> What did you take last time? Oh, you didn't see that. >> Uh, she took last time. >> How long ago was that? >> This was in July last year. Oh, that that was a pink anchor trip. She had that already. Yeah, that's yours. But I don't see the stuff she had in this pocket. Yeah, >> I don't maybe tell her. >> She seems a little erratic. She She's kind of like droning off. >> I have not seen her in a long time. >> I didn't think it was her first thing from the freeway. I'm guessing she walked. She's going out different and check see if there's any packaging on the floor and the trash can. >> Let me make contact with her. She's screaming. >> Shortly after the woman walked out and the officers and loss prevention quickly approached her. She immediately denied everything as if she already understood exactly what was happening. >> I left you in the bathroom. >> I But I showed the I showed the gentleman. I told the customer service guy. Look at this empty. >> Okay. Okay. I have nothing. >> I don't have the dirty laundry. We have nothing in my stuff. at all. I left the socks and everything over there. >> Box inside my person. There's all my stuff there. It shows me like it's >> Well, we appreciate you giving us consent to search. Um, you know, you cooperate with us. It's the best. >> The buggy's right there with the >> electronic island items and the socks. >> Okay. My partner will conduct his investigation. So, >> all right. Now, >> I'm just having a bad morning. So to like have your permission to search your >> I just showed you everything. >> I showed you everything. Like there's nothing in here. Look. See? Nothing. Nothing. >> Do you mind if I search it? >> Yeah, I do because I'm showing you everything. Had [laughter] a bad morning. >> Can you just show it? Can you put your back on the back? >> Sure. I don't want to be harassed. I've been harassed by you guys for weeks now. The woman suddenly began playing the victim, trying to make herself look helpless, as if that would somehow reduce her responsibility. >> Don't take it anymore. I just came to look around and shop. I left the stuff right there. I showed him I showed him my bags before I walked in. [snorts] >> Everything to the bathroom at my purs. So, we're we're not here trying to rash you. >> Yes, you are. Because I'm showing you everything and you're trying to push me even more. I'm telling you, you guys have been bothering me. >> Yes, you have. >> So, this is my first time dealing with you. So, it's not me. It's not my partner here. >> So, we got some questions to ask you. And >> so, before I do, man, I'm just going to read you this real quick. >> Um, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used. >> After reading her rights, the officer laid out in detail what the cameras had captured. With the evidence presented so clearly, it remained to be seen whether her denials could continue. I'm not sure how well you are aware of how good these cameras are. >> They have video of which I've already viewed with them. >> I put one in my pocket and hug it back. Correct. >> Two pairs of air. >> Okay. In the state of New Mexico, concealing any merchandise is considered shoplifting. You are on video concealing merchandise. Okay. That's why we came Hold on. That's why we came into contact with you. They also watched you select other items. So, just to clarify, that's why we're here. What items have I >> I'm just I'm giving you description of why you're being contacted. Okay? That's why we're talking to We were not harassing you. You were stopped for a lawful reason. >> Okay. >> I'm just trying to clarify things for you. >> Ma'am, uh we saw you on video uh to uh take the manscape kit and and try to remove the the spider web. >> It's right there in in the cart. The manscape kit is in the cart. >> But we saw you conceal it into your person. >> But it's in the cart. >> You selected two. You select the other one. >> Yeah. And the black one is up there. >> There was I looked at the other one cuz there was a different one. And it was 69. And the other one's 79. >> Mhm. Yeah. There's like a black box. >> Yeah. And I put the back box back and that's the one in my buggy. And that's the one that's out in the in in the thing right there. >> So I saw you take take the manscape, put it inside your jacket, tuck it in with your elbow, and then I saw you go into the bathroom. >> No, I went into the children's department first. >> Right. >> And then I still walked around and my stomach has been messed up. And then that's why you switched it cuz you got >> I didn't switch any in the car. >> You got two of them? >> No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. So, so you had a black one? >> Yes. Yes. No. No. One second. One second. Let me explain. So, you had a black one in the cart. >> No, I had the gray one in the >> No. No. You had the black one in the cart. You messed with the spiderweb. You couldn't get it. So, then you went back, selected the gray one, put it in your jacket, and then walked away. >> All right. So, that's what we observed. That's why we're here. And then from there, there's only one in the cart. >> And then you walked into the bathroom with a black one. You'll see me put the black one back on the shelf. >> On the shelf? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> She believed that putting the merchandise back on the shelf somehow erased the wrongdoing she had already committed. However, suspicion remained when she appeared to be hiding something inside her shoes. >> So, Miss Torres, can I ask you for a favor? Will you show me what's inside your shoes? >> My shoes? >> Yes, ma'am. >> I'm trying to sell my shoes. >> Okay. Can you show me what's inside? >> No. >> Will you empty them, please? >> I show them everything. >> They're heavy. >> They're heavy shoes. They're heavy shoes. So, can you just show me? >> Can you just turn them so I can see the inside? >> Can I go, please? I haven't. >> No, you cannot leave. >> So, >> no, I haven't done anything. You see on the camera put back the black thing and I put the one socks in my pocket and then I Oh my god. And then put them back on the shelf. >> So, I'm going to ask you one more time. Will you please show me the inside of the shoes? >> No. >> No. All right, cool. So, what are we going to do from here? But if if he sees me, put it back on the shelf. Where? Put the the black one cuz I have a gray one. But >> do you want to walk us out there? Will you walk us out there and show us where you put them back? >> On the shelf. >> If you want to clear your name, let's do let's do that. >> Wait, wait till last prevention comes back. >> I left it on the shelf there in cosmetology. >> Okay. So, we'll wait. We'll wait for Lost Prevention to come back. And I don't know if it's against their policy of you watching the video. They have I'm telling you, we sat in here with our body cams on watching you conceal the merchandise. Okay? And again, just clarify, regardless of whether you saying you put things back or not, you were on video concealing merchandise while holding Hold on. Does not matter. >> You concealed merchandise. Okay. And you already got here in June or July of last year. They had Sir I just going to argue if you're just going to argue about everything you do. >> You didn't even trespass me. Correct. anything >> and they're going to trespass you this time. They've already clarified that with us. Okay, >> that's fine. >> Her attempts to convince the officers appeared to have failed and she knew it would be difficult to keep denying everything. So despite the situation, she suddenly tried to walk away, causing the confrontation to escalate [music] into chaos. >> We gave you several opportunities to stay clear. >> Excuse me. >> Excuse me. >> No, I'm not putting hands on you. Don't put your hands on me like that. >> Hello. Don't. I have a thumb battery on police officers. You guys have been harassing me. You guys have been bothering me. I haven't done anything. >> The thought is stop. If you try to If you try to give me the purse, >> this is my property. >> Yeah. We're going to give it back to you. >> It's all I have. It took me four months to get my license >> hook on right here. I can't even get my medical marijuana. This is my license to be. >> Yeah, we're going to go on the property. >> Look at the camera. >> Do not do not catch a felony because they're unwilling to cooperate. Okay, here we go. Walk this way. Okay, >> you need to pull the cameras. There is nothing on those cameras at all. There's no way. >> There is nothing on my person. >> Anything. [snorts] I didn't touch you guys. What do you mean? I'm going to get a felony >> now. You As far as don't get don't get caught with a felony just cuz you're upset. All right. You're going to catch a felony if you do this stuff. >> Brenda Torres was arrested and charged with shoplifting and resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer. A search warrant later allowed police to recover the stolen merchandise, including the facial shaver and two pairs of socks found inside her shoes. Refusing to cooperate after the evidence is already clear can turn a shoplifting case into a much more serious situation. Attempting to walk away or resist officers only adds to the consequences. >> Kids, we think adults are putting them up to stealing stuff. >> Yes, it's the same car every time. Drops them off. >> But either way, >> on the 13th of October 2024, police received a report from Target about a theft that had taken place. The suspect was believed to be a mother who had involved members of her own family in the incident. When officers arrived at the scene, the mother was not present. So they quickly approached the remaining individuals and this was what happened next. >> Outside she was she was at the game to get him a game. >> And then I had came in here. We was going to go look at the you know the electronic section. We going to go look at stuff. >> Okay. All right. Where's um y'all have a cell phone on you? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Is it mom, dad? Who's driving you around? >> Okay. What's your names? J. >> It's J. >> Okay. >> Is it J A Y? How do you spell J? >> J A Y. >> J A Y. And this is your real name. >> Mhm. >> Okay. You know it's a crime to lie to me about that, right? >> No, it ain't my real name. >> What's your actual name? >> A. >> What's your last name? >> What's your last name, buddy? Smith. >> Smith. That's your real last name. >> Whose mom or dad or whoever dropped you off is in the car? >> Oh, my mama. >> Your mama? What's your mama's name? >> Tequila. >> It's what? >> Tequila. >> Tequila is your mom's name. >> Like the liquor. >> I don't know how to spell her name, but her name is Tequila. >> What's her last name? >> What's your birthday? >> What' you say your last name was? >> What's your last name? Both boys repeatedly gave different answers, clearly trying to hide information, forcing the officers to warn them. Once again, >> this [ __ ] of lying back and forth and names not getting cuz you told him your last name was Smith. >> What? What? What last name did you tell? >> Okay. Can you not remember your last name? >> How old are you, my man? >> You're what? >> You're 10 years old. So, you know what your last name is, right? >> Hey, how you doing? >> Are you mine? Okay, they are jumping over security counters and looking through electronics. >> They go in the back. They'll go in the bathroom. >> What's your name, ma'am? >> What's your name about? Yeah, I don't know. I haven't seen security footage or anything. Um, they >> from what the security guard told me was that they were watching them on the cameras, jumping in and around the electronics. >> Y the mother thought the situation was caused by a family member's problem. unaware she was actually involved. Meanwhile, Target's loss prevention team shared their suspicions. >> But this is the car and this is the license plate and I can show you um the individual. >> Hang on a second. >> Yeah, that's her. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um have y'all reported this in other counties? >> Yeah, this is all this is a districtwide >> districtwide thing. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay. This is in the Atlanta area. This is the farthest they've like they've just been coming out farther. >> So that's him. >> Okay. That's the same kid. Yeah. >> Okay. So we think that um >> Yeah, that's him. >> Yeah. So same kids. We think adults are putting them up to stealing stuff. >> Yes. It's the same car every time. Drops them off. They do it and then it comes back around and picks them up and they drive off. >> So what's her involvement in that? How do y'all have pictures of her in the store? She's dropping them off. >> I'm not sure how we have pictures. It was troubling that the mother had involved her own children in her actions. That may also explain why she showed little surprise when the officers presented the allegations. >> If you wouldn't mind, uh, this officer can go and and just take a look just to make sure. I don't again, I'm not saying that, you know, you know, but maybe the boy snuck something in or something like that. Okay. So, if you don't mind, I would love to let this officer just take a peek in and just make sure that there's no stolen target stuff in there. Okay. Um, would you mind handing him the key so he can do that? >> Okay. What should you say about >> if you consent to it? Obviously. What' you say? >> Would you advise when you just wait for my rights? >> Yeah. So, I just because I'm I'm asking you questions about a potential crime, I'm going to go ahead and advise you of your rights. That way, you know that you have them. Okay. >> You know, I just want to know what's going on like this stopping me stopping us from leaving. And they didn't. >> Uh cuz right now we're investigating a theft. We're investigating whether they stole products or not. >> Okay. Again, it's just >> Again, it's entirely up to you. So, is that you you have to be be the one to give consent? >> I mean, it's it's nothing, you know. >> Yep. iPhone box right off the cuff. We got an iPad and five cell phones so far. Looks like six cell phones. >> Okay. >> Everything I found so far is right up here. Um, the majority the white iPhone box that's on the bottom right there was down here in the floorboard. Those three iPhones and that Motorola box were in the center console. And I'm just telling you this just for your reference. I'm obviously going to write it down. Okay. >> Beyond this theft, police found footage of her family members appearing at multiple stores over about 2 and 1/2 months with $25,000 in losses and believed she was directly involved. Faced with these allegations, the woman gradually lost her composure, appearing genuinely worried. Now listen to me. They may not go to jail today. Today the only question I've got is whether you're going to jail or not. >> But either way, they are not going to be with you if they go to jail. >> Now >> the question right now is whether you are going to be cooperative and get honest about what's going on >> or whether everybody is going to separate defects homes and jail. >> No, no, no, no. So, what's happening here, Mr. Tequila? What's going on? >> Now, you need to do go ahead and talk to him while I go talk to some of these investigators. >> Mr. Tequila, you Hey, ma'am, I need you to get off the phone, okay? You need to talk to me. >> You I'm the most I'm the person you need to be concerned about right now. Okay? No one that's on the phone. You need to be concerned about me. >> Okay? >> So, you need to tell me what's going on. >> Mr. Tequila, have you ever heard of a Rico charge? Do you know what that is? >> No. [gasps] >> It's called a racketeering and criminal organizations charge. That's what a Rico charge is. >> So, I'm going to jail later. >> It You need to start telling me what's going on. >> And I would recommend you not get on your phone because like I said, I'm the one you need to be. >> Nobody get Lord. >> Okay. So, tell >> Clearly, if she had truly been concerned about her family, there would not have been repeated thefts. Worse, when confronted again, they denied everything, as if that was what their mother had taught them. >> Not right now. She's uh in handcuffs in the back of a cop car right now. >> For what? >> She's being detained for investigative purposes. >> Investigating what? >> What? What? >> We're investigating thefts. >> Thefts? What? >> Hi. We're going to steal anything from But still no. Okay. >> I actually sent one of my cops to go get a car seat because they already they're doing it from your car. You got a car seat in your car? Okay. Keep going to get it from your car cuz they already charged it. So, and your mom just called and said she's on 85. There was a minute there where she didn't have a ride, but she got one. She's on her way. >> You sure you thought that's my mom? She at? Alicia, she said it wasn't going to make the trip. That's what she said. But she got somebody to come. Hey, is this >> Let me grab your shoes for you. >> Yeah. >> Can you just step right here for me real quick? >> Hey, I'm right here. I just put you on speaker with my Sarah and she just wanted to make sure that you were coming to get her children. >> I'm on the way. See, >> she mad with me. I got a couple. >> In the end, the woman was charged with felony theft, racketeering, conspiracy, and contributing to the delinquency of minors. Children should never be used as tools for criminal activity or taught to hide the truth. [music] Involving them only creates deeper consequences for everyone involved and can turn repeated bad decisions into serious criminal charges. >> So, you you paid for your food with that card? >> My food with that card right there. Okay. >> Unfortunately, I I wasn't thinking straight. I'm sorry. And I am sorry. >> On the 26th of February, 2026, police approached a woman after suspecting she was involved in stealing another passenger's debit card at the airport and using it to buy a drink, but it seems she had already prepared her denial. >> Hello there. You should know this contact's being audio and video recorded. Excuse me, ma'am. You should know you're being audio and video recorded. >> They got called out here because someone's missing a debit card. Okay. >> And they say that you took it. So, we're going to figure that out. You're not free to go. >> Okay. >> When's your uh flight? >> In the morning. >> Okay. Why would someone say that you're missing that they're missing a debit card and you have it? >> I don't have Can I put my cell phone? >> Yeah, it's fine. Is there any possible way? It's a mixup. >> No, I showed her my card. I showed her my purse. >> Okay. >> Um, >> do you have any an ID I can look at? >> Right here. Um, the only things I have in my purse is these things. I show >> So, you were in a restaurant, correct? >> Yes, I was in a restaurant. >> What card did you pay with? >> My debit card right here as well. >> My ID is right here. But >> IDs from other states or >> Yeah, my old IDs. But cars. I don't have anything that even resembles her car. So, you you paid for your food with that card? >> Paid for my food with that card right there. >> Okay. Did you get a receipt for it or >> uh I didn't I get I didn't get a receipt. I paid online. It didn't send me Hold on. Where's my phone? It didn't send me um receipt. I didn't select a receipt either. So, yeah, it didn't even send me no receipt for the the payment, but I did make a payment with that debit card. >> Okay. That's it. >> The woman then showed the officer her own card, but that was when they discovered she was hiding something. It was clear she was lying. >> So, her debit card was sitting on the table and >> she has a red card with her name on it with suspect's name on it. So, are we sure that the >> Well, she used the card to pay for her margarita and it's the last four of this lady's card. >> What are those last four? >> I'd have to ask her. >> Let's find out what those last four are. Okay. >> She's got a red debit card. >> She showed her a blue >> She's got a red debit card with her name on it. >> Can you Yeah. If it match It doesn't match with this credit card. She goes with this credit card number. This is my credit card. >> She show me. She show me. >> This is your credit card number down here. >> Yeah. The last The >> number here. >> That's the When they close the Q. >> Okay. So, this is your credit card. >> Yes. >> Did they talk to you over there? Yeah. And I showed her my debit card and everything. I was like, I have a new general card. I don't know. No table. >> And there's nothing you left in the bathroom or anything like that? >> I don't think I left anything in the bathroom. I came out. >> I mean, the card's not going to be in there. Nothing like that. >> I don't have the card. >> Okay. >> The suspect still had no idea that she had already been caught. At this point, the officers confronted her directly. Let's see how she reacted to it. >> So, what other card do you have you put in your purse? Damn, I got a number. >> So, we have the receipt. >> Here's the thing. We don't like to be lied to. You don't have to talk to us if you don't want to. However, that was not the card that paid for the item cuz we have the receipt and the last four digits are on that >> receipt. And those last four digits are >> 2988. And the last four on the receipt are something else or anything. Okay. >> Okay. having these right to remind you what she talking about. >> She said that you it says wait to be seated >> and you just walked in and you sat at the back table. >> I didn't just walk in. >> One second. I'm sorry. Can I just finish? >> And you you sat at the back table and there was like a book like her son's um No, there was no >> little magazines like a book, >> you know, like a book fair thing for school. >> Uhhuh. And she said that her debit card was sitting on that and she went to go place for her son and her debit card was no longer there. And so she said that she saw you put the debit card in your purse. >> And so she and then she said that you got >> paid how does her second I was in the second stall. You can go look in the second stall. I did not use >> How does her card number get on your receipt? I don't have no idea about that. I did not. I was talking to the lady about it was my birthday the other day. >> How do you say your first name? >> Ebony. >> Ebony. So, let's let's kind of start over. Okay. Kind of relax. Okay. You're in the middle of the international airport. We are surround like literally we're probably on 15 different cameras right now. Okay. And we have all the facts now to essentially to a rescue for theft. Okay. [snorts] So, all we want to know is why and how it actually happened. So, we know that that's not the card that you used. We know that you know that. All we want is the story of of how and why it happened. >> Under pressure from the officers, the woman admitted what she had done and where she had hidden the card. Police immediately began searching for it. >> Garbage can. >> The one that this guy is standing at right there. No, not that one. The next >> like far down by the guy in the red >> might have just gotten out. Okay, thanks. Yeah, I checked that was that recycle bag from the one you were describing it and saw it in there, but I they might have just taken it out. So, we'll we'll check that video anyway. But >> he show >> uh Yeah. You want me to grab her? >> Sure. >> I don't know which one she is. You know who the chicken is? >> Is there any way that they can get the people that just wants back this way? check the video and see if they pick it up or when they But there was like there was only >> Yeah, cuz when I put it in there was it was brand new bag when I put it in. There wasn't a lot of stuff in there. Only a few pieces of paper. I had just bought the headphones, opened them up and turned them on. >> Did you buy the headphones with your money? >> Yeah, with my money. >> That transaction. I can show you the transaction. >> How much were your headphones? >> They were $40. $41. So, how much was that a drink? >> I went to a heads and I got the headphones. So, >> how can you spend 40 bucks on headphones and you decided to steal a drink? >> Just too easy or just sitting there or what? >> Unfortunately, I I wasn't thinking straight. I'm sorry. >> Do you believe the woman's excuse for her actions? It was clearly not convincing enough for the officers, so they took action shortly afterward. >> All right, you're under arrest for theft. Don't resist. Don't resist. I'm not resisting. I'm not resisting. Bend your arm. >> I'm not resisting, sir. I'm not. >> Okay, sir. Okay. You don't have to. Can I call my parents if I leave? >> You didn't leave us much of a choice. We don't have the card back. >> Well, >> you're going to be in the airport for another 12 hours, potentially stealing. >> No, no, no, no, no. I I promise you guys I put You guys can look at the camera. It's right there. Even if Even if we can get it back, right? You're sitting in the middle of an international airport. I'm sorry. >> You have to get on a plane next to these people. Is that [music] what is that what you would want? >> No, it's not. >> Stop moving around. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Wait, you can just sit back down. >> Okay. >> So, your bag is going to be too big to go with you to score. It's just so jealous down the road. When you get out, you'll be able to pick that stuff up, but you need to make an appointment to do that. >> Okay. >> Um, so what stuff do you want to have on you? Like a cell phone, a charger, >> a blanket. Is it okay if I can take my blanket in my purse? Probably not a blanket. Let's >> Oh, that's not that's not mine. That the pillow part. I don't know where that came from. That's not mine. >> Is that your piece of mail right there? >> Yeah, that is my piece of mail. >> I just want my phone. >> So, let's do like this thing. What? Wallet, phone right there. >> I can Well, how can I get my >> We'll give you a piece of paper that tells you exactly how to pick all that up. >> Afterward, the suspect was also warned about the trespass order and what she would have to do because of the foolish situation she had caused. You're going to have this in your jail property. Your bag and blanket are not going to be here at the airport. They're going to be stored offsite at this address. In order to get your property, you need to call this number up here and make an appointment. If you show up at the airport and you don't have airport business, and it's just to get your property, you'll be trespassing and you may end up going back to jail. >> So, I can't take my flight back to >> If you have a flight, you can. Absolutely. That's airport business. >> All right. I'm telling you how to get your property. >> Hold on. So, can can you repeat that again? So, call that number. >> You'll have You'll have it on here. It tells you how to make an appointment to pick it up. >> And that's going to be a score here. >> It's like up the road. It's not here. The address is on here. It's actually like right between the two. [clears throat] Excuse me. >> But if you come back to the airport without a ticket or a job or something like that, >> you're going to jail. I'll walk out. Okay. You need anything else? >> Can I hold my >> Yep. You can hold them if you can. I have a >> I'm not trying to >> for you cuz they're baggy >> and we appreciate you cooperating with us, right? But >> yeah, >> like I said, we're we're in an airport, right? You don't want to be >> If there was a way that we could stop those people that picked up the garbage, >> but getting but getting back that card doesn't change the fact that you just walked into the airport and stole, you know, stole from one of our employees. >> Can I get some water at this stop? >> No, you can have you can have that at school. The woman was arrested after admitting to using the stolen debit card. Officers later recovered the card from a nearby garbage bin. She was booked for thirdderee theft and first-degree criminal trespass. A moment of poor judgment can quickly lead to serious consequences. Even if the theft seemed minor, stealing from someone else and then lying to police only made the situation worse. A single dishonest decision turned into an arrest, criminal charges, and even the risk of missing her flight. >> Have IDs? No. Nothing with your name on it. >> $400. >> That thing alone was over 200. So I coined this person. >> On the 9th of August 2026, police approached a group in the Walmart parking lot after receiving a report of a woman in a white shirt and blue hat suspected of taking merchandise without paying. Here is what happened when officers confronted them. >> How's it going? Got to let you know my camera's on and recording. Okay, I know you guys are packing up, but you guys got to get all this stuff out of the car. We got to go back. Apparently, you guys didn't pay for some items. >> Oh, this just came from Best Buy. Honey, >> just items in the trunk. >> What? >> Whatever you guys just got from Walmart, we got to go back. All right. >> I just got this one. >> All right. Whatever's in the trunk. >> They said you guys made some purchases, but they >> specifically said blue hat. >> Like, you didn't take that from the store. Sorry. I'm I appreciate you guys being cooperative. I call my mother right now. I got that from my mom cuz I just moved. >> But none of that's in the trunk. >> No. >> No slushy in the trunk. >> No. >> No need. I mean, you heard on the radio what they're saying, bro. Is there any other items like we're trying to We're trying to like >> That came from Best Buy. This came from the um >> The only thing that you guys are claiming to have purchased from Walmart is that TV. >> Yeah. >> You guys have a receipt for that? >> Red. They told us you stop they stopped you at the front and then >> stop. >> With merchandise from different stores found inside her car. The question was whether any of it had been stolen as well. Suspicion only grew when the woman failed to provide her own information. Check real quick. >> Do you guys have IDs? >> No. >> Nothing with your name on it. car 33. Okay. >> What's your name? >> Uh Diane. >> Diane. What? >> I'm sorry. >> Is this how you spell it? >> Yeah. >> What's the date of birth you missed? What's the most recent atmosphere? Well, >> here in Jersey. >> No, I'm trying to think. >> Okay. Let me give you my um let me call me my address. I need to my house. What's um >> hi >> what's up >> so Walmart pulled us down here cuz they >> for a suspected shop they identified you guys there watching you guys on camera they said they stopped a group >> they was watching who >> you guys >> I guess were you guys in the car or >> they said they stopped at the at the front >> could you tell me >> could you tell them to come out and tell you that they >> we have one of our guys that are inside. >> I'm calling my husband right now. >> Don, do you have a social? Do you know your social by any chance? >> No, not by heart. Hold on. >> Is that my phone? >> No. Hold on. I'm telling you from some deer. No. Answer the phone. >> Do you have a middle name? >> Uh, yeah. >> What's the middle name for you? >> Uh, it's Nicole. >> As more time passed, the women became increasingly anxious. If they had done nothing wrong, why were they so nervous? The officers explained what they were doing and why they were conducting the investigation out. >> Huh? >> So, so we have to run you and make sure you have no outside warranty that which we're doing with whatever information you gave them. >> Um, so it looks like they just they obviously they want their stuff back. >> I'll give you >> um and then they're going to they they have a form. They want you trespass. >> All right. >> Sign it right now. >> Trespass from the store. >> They're not going to sign it right now. >> They're going to bring it out. Our guys bring it out. All right. Trying to make it as easy as possible. >> I'm trying to get dumb ass help. I don't know why you guys were hanging out so long because obviously we on the way. >> I didn't want that TV to fall. >> I got I know y'all probably wait, but I'm going to be that TV. >> I just had to go back and buy that. >> Yeah. And it wouldn't fit in the car, so I said I don't know. because it's wrong. >> I mean, >> I don't know. We women, we don't know what the hell we doing. >> That's right. >> I think it might. >> Should it be like like this? >> Like, how's the car back on? >> In addition, the store confirmed that the merchandise the women had previously claimed was theirs was far from the full amount taken. Yet, they showed no shame at all when confronted with this information. >> Basket. Apparently they're asking >> that [ __ ] right there. I put that over if they seen something like that. >> They would have seen something right there. >> Is that stuff? >> No, that's garbage. That's mine. >> Oh, okay. very bad. That right there, that's all garbage that just came out of my car. All right, miss. Um, so because of the amount that was was taken, they want to pursue charges. >> All right. So, I guess I'm getting locked up. I don't know. >> How much is it? >> It's over $200. That thing alone was over $200. So coin pursuit person's up to >> All right. Well, I ain't going to argue. I'm going. I'm just >> Her reaction suggested that she either bought the merchandise without even checking the prices or never intended to pay for it in the first place. At this point, the officer took action together. >> So what what what my daughter, please. Ain't nothing here but myself. >> Put the put the drink down. Uh we're just going to process her miss. I'm about to put the trick in the car. >> Oh, she going to be the least weight. >> Yeah. >> So, have you ever been arrested in the state of New Jersey? >> Yes. >> You have? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, how uh how long ago? >> Like a year or two about >> a year? All right. So, it it all depends on the uh the amount of times you've been arrested, but most most like most likely um we'll process you and we'll figure it out from there. Most likely be released. >> You guys know where they >> No, I don't even want them. I'll call you. >> I'm just going to search you, okay? With the back of my hand. follow up. >> So we have to do we have to do um the photograph and then we'll have to do the complaint the charge once we do the charge on the court the system will give us a number and then >> in the end the woman was arrested for shoplifting while officers also discovered seven outstanding warrants from six different jurisdictions totaling $7,050. [music] Stealing is one thing, but pretending nothing happened only makes the consequences worse. Once the evidence catches up with you, excuses and nervous reactions cannot erase the crime. >> Go for it. >> Huh? >> Which means you can't come back here. >> On the 9th of February 2026, officers received a call from a convenience store reporting a woman causing a disturbance and threatening those around her. They quickly arrived at the scene where the woman was already sitting as if she had been waiting for everything to unfold. >> Oh, go ahead. >> I can't wait. I can't wait for this one. >> Which one? >> What's going on, man? >> So, I don't even know what the problem is. >> What do you mean? >> That part right there. What the problem is? >> There's no problem. That's what I've been trying to say this whole time. >> Are you talking to him on this side there? >> I've been I've been trying to say something. I've been trying to say um legally they want to sit there and say because they have a professionally wise. >> You have a what? >> Yeah. No, it's wild. >> So, I literally want to know what's really going on. Matt, >> could you just have a seat for me, please? Please. >> Yes, please. >> I appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you. So, they have a problem with you >> or you don't even know what what what the deal was happening. >> Yeah, that is a problem. >> While the woman appeared cheerful and excited, the employees inside had a completely different attitude. When they approached, [music] they seriously explained what had happened. >> Was the lady outside bothering anyone in here? >> Yes, sir. Yes sir. >> What she doing? >> 25 minutes in counter in here using wording and hitting counter. >> You want to trespass her? >> Yeah, sir. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Go ahead and trespass her. >> Hi. How are you? I I I'm the one that told her that she had to leave cuz I do security for these guys. So, he told me to go ahead and trespass her. >> Go for it. A trespassing, huh? >> Yeah. Which means you can't come back here or else you be subject to arrest. >> Okay. >> So, you've been you've been trespassing the property for how long >> permanently. >> That's what I'm trying to say is who are you? >> I do security for these guys. >> But you don't even know who I am. >> It doesn't matter. I don't need to know who you are in order to trust. >> So therefore, yes, you >> It was clear that the woman did not accept the trespass order at all. She even appeared ready to run back into the store as if she had every right to do so. Therefore, yes, you can because I came over here and going get my mother. I'mma get my ma'am. If you go in, you'll be okay. >> Okay, ma'am. >> You know, >> put your hands behind your bag for me. >> Behind. >> You're under arrest. Let's step outside. Here we go. Absolutely not. >> Okay. >> No. >> No. >> Why are you doing this? >> There you go. >> Absolutely not. So you say absolutely not. >> The sleeve up. >> No. No. No. No. And when you get reported, I can't wait. I cannot wait for this. Turn over. >> I can't wait. >> How do we end up like that? >> No. I cannot wait >> for you to get reported. >> Hey, you're being audio and video recorded. >> Of course. >> Yeah. So, I want to be known. I know the right. I never had my romant. >> You're going to get rid of >> I am not I'm relaxed on everything. I never have my right. So, I'm burning. So, you physically cannot have anything to say to me. >> I'm relaxed. You actually assume you never mandatorize me. You ass you never ratherize me. >> You never ratherize me. >> Stand up. >> You never ratherize me. >> Turn around. >> You never me. >> Come on. Turn over. you you're never >> she acted as though she fully understood her civil rights and the officer's procedures as if this was not her first time dealing with police and just as she wanted the officers read her rights while she was lying on the floor. >> Silent. >> Don't kick. Don't kick. >> No. No. So now you're my random me. You super ass mother. >> No. What happened to me? >> Well, everything's being audio video record. >> Yeah. Go ahead. It's time to talk to a lawyer. >> Please help me >> and have them present with you while you're being questioned. If you can't afford to hire a lawyer, one of your clients to represent you before questioning if you wish. [screaming] >> And you can decide at any time to answer these questions. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Get him off of me right now. >> Get him off of me >> because you're kicking. >> I'm not doing it right now. >> Well, you were. >> Get him off of me. >> Not going to happen. >> Oh, so you like this? >> Not at all. >> Nope. Her resistance showed no signs of stopping, so the officers had to use stronger measures to restrain her. [music] >> Who's going to protect your head? Okay. She was a little kicky. Okay. >> Hey, do you want to just stop and stand up? Do I put this whole thing on you? >> You just want to stop kicking, stop fighting so we don't put you in that thing. Can you do that? >> Yeah. I you can tell me what happened. So, uh, basically what happened was, uh, she was standing at the counter yelling at the, uh, clerk. >> Okay. >> Uh, she wanted to use the bathroom. They kept telling her, "No, she can't. It's not a public restroom." She started screaming and disrespecting them and yelling at them. >> Well, we can put this on before we roll her. >> You think that I'm the worst person in the world? That's why my children is worse than me. No, I get away. I can't wait. >> She started walking to the to the back room because she was fixing to go back there to use the bathroom, but they told her it's not a public restroom. She kept yelling at them and yelling at even through the door. do it and let all of you >> whenever we get her. >> No, whenever I cannot wait. >> Shortly afterward, she was carried out to the patrol car because she clearly could not walk on her own in that condition. She continued to portray herself as the victim of the entire situation. >> So, go around the other side. But if I die in your custody, it's going to be because of you. I have the right to remain silent, but yet I do not have the right to be contained in this backseat of this car. Ah, you think that you are doing something? I have the right to be able to speak. Uh, that is the case. I >> tell him father we can let her go when we pull in >> to be. So when everyone says that this is not your opportunity. >> Hi one female. >> She's in the rap opportunity. Yeah, >> exactly. Because you never meanderize me. Now you can sit there and you can play all you want. You'll never ass. >> In the end, the woman was charged with criminal trespass, resisting arrest, and urinating in public with bail set at $2,000. Civil rights do not give anyone the freedom to ignore lawful orders or [music] resist an arrest. Once a situation escalates, refusing to cooperate can turn a simple dispute into multiple criminal charges. >> Titled right here. >> Yeah, that's definitely because I had I wasn't going to steal nothing, sir. I promise you I wasn't. Intention was to probably try to get steal. >> Okay. But I was so scared and nervous that >> on the 31st of May 2023, officers [snorts] were dispatched to Academy Sports and Outdoors after receiving a report of a woman concealing merchandise. When officers arrived, she pretended to be paying for the items. Here is what happened next. >> All right, ma'am. Let's put that down. Okay. >> Huh? >> I'm Officer Cornelison. Let's go ahead and put that down. Okay. >> What y'all talking about? >> Set the rest of your clothes down. I'm going to talk to you over here. Okay. >> Okay. >> Ain't nothing on me. >> Okay. Everything else like these are mine. I'm just going to check out. What? >> The shirt that you just lifted up. What shirts? Mhm. >> Okay. You talking about being part? >> Yeah. >> All right. You're padded right here. >> Well, that that's because I had I wasn't going to steal nothing, sir. I promise you I wasn't. >> Let's put it all down and let's go talk to you here. >> Okay. Let's go. >> Sorry. I was going to steal nothing. >> Okay. >> Like I was >> Come on out here. >> Come talk. >> I'm going to check it out. >> I don't want no jail. Okay. >> She claimed she had no intention of stealing. But then why was she hiding the merchandise on her body? And the amount was far from small with more items continuously being pulled out as officers searched her. >> I know. Open the door. >> But I've already asked you twice. >> It's okay. So, >> let's just leave what we got and let's go talk over here. Okay. Is there anything else on you? There's a >> Oh, yeah. One more. Sorry. I was going to say this all I promise you. That's why I ain't went out the door here. Like I was so scared. That's why I acting like I was looking for a phone cuz I like >> Anything else? >> That's it. I I suggest >> I got four kids, y'all. I I can't even feel y'all. I've got >> It's right here. >> Huh? >> They're hanging >> right here. >> No, don't. >> I'm not I wasn't right where I was making up. I >> promise you I wasn't going to go out the door. That's why I was skept. She showed no shame as more items were pulled out and her astonishing calmness suggested she was no stranger to this. Even her please afterwards seemed like something she had done before. >> And I learn I don't know why I learned my lesson. That why I really tried like act like I was looking for a phone or whatever. You know what I'm saying? >> I would act like a phone cuz I was so scared y'all. I was so scared. >> Please tell the same. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Y what's the deal? >> Please y'all can y'all please just burn me. I want s bring him down. >> Yeah, I was so scared to go out the door, y'all. >> Kendra, >> I was so scared. Okay, stop. Stop it. >> Okay. Well, please. >> What were you What were you doing? >> Huh? What were you doing? >> What I doing? >> Yeah. >> I was I acting like I got the phone. Huh? >> What were you doing with all those clothes stuffed in your pants >> in my in my pant? I was just trying some stuff on. So, I was just stuffing just stuffing. I didn't My intention was to probably try to get still. Okay. But I was so scared and nervous that I was actually telling her that I was helping for a phone because I was going to go speak to just one just take it all out. And this on like four kids, y'all. That's on God. True. I would have been out the door like I have I had a history of >> She was admitting to the theft, but in a way that seemed designed to manipulate the officers by downplaying her responsibility. Everything she said came across as an attempt to lessen the seriousness of what she had done with little sign of genuine remorse. >> I was not going to go out the door with clothes, sir. I was scared. Like it was on my heart. This is my first time still trying to steal anything or put anything on me since I've been out of prison. Lord, >> how long have you been out? A month, you said. No, I've been out since November. November. I've been working ever since. >> Where do you work at? >> Work I work in. I work at No, I work in Hartwell. I work at Nesta Parina, but I live here. >> I'm from Hartwell. My mom's from Elbertton, so I I know about I know all about >> Okay. That's where I work. And I live in Everson County. >> You got here for a second. Yeah. >> Here. Stay over here, Kendra. Stay over here. Talk to me. Okay. >> So, please. >> Look. Look. We don't know what's going to happen, okay? There's a lot of stuff that we got to talk to you about. Okay. Oh, >> first of all, we got to figure out how much all of that was going to be. Okay. Second of all, >> how it is. I just knew how it is. >> Listen to me. Okay. Disguising clothes underneath your clothes, stuffing them down. And I I know that you're going to say that you do not remember saying this, but I have it on body cam. Okay. You 2 and 1/2 minutes ago saying that you think your intention probably are you wanting to prosecute probably was to take it to and then you explained. >> Why did that sir? I said I was scared. >> You explained And then you explained that it was because of your daughter's dance, which we're trying to be reasonable with you. We're trying to be gentle with you. Okay. >> I don't want to stop. >> At this point, the officers needed to clarify everything. It was clear they suspected she had come there intending to steal rather than acting on impulse. When questioned, she brought up her family to make herself seem sympathetic and distract from the investigation. I came here >> to buy some stuff. >> Okay. >> But >> and the thing trying to buy some stuff, >> I stuffed some stuff, but my heart was so heavy. My heart was so thinking about my kids, right? I even asked her, "Can I go back to the dress room?" Cuz I was going to >> Yeah. Well, she said, "No, go." You can ask her. She said, "No, go pay for your items." Mhm. >> before we closed cuz she kept telling me I go check I check your room for your phone. I even made up a lot of I lost my phone just so I can stay in here if I can take this stuff out because I was scared. I can't walk out that door though y'all. >> I just be here prison time. I don't get off parole until November. You feel me? I know I got a >> November history. Yes. I know I got a history left me out. But if I go to jail today >> Mhm. >> I'm going back to prison. >> Yep. It's already there. >> Not yet. >> We We already know it's a felony. >> Okay. >> It's a felony anyway. But I didn't I all that stuff, sir. I had all this stuff on me. I had like two shirts in >> my Why? >> She was ultimately arrested for felony shoplifting after officers determined the concealed merchandise was worth more than $700. Her prior shoplifting history and active parole further worsened her situation. Trying to justify theft by blaming financial struggles or family responsibilities does not erase the choice to commit the crime. Taking responsibility is very different from repeatedly changing the story to make the offense seem less serious. >> You'll get a citation. You'll have to go to court or something. >> Can I pay for that stuff? >> No, that's not how it works. >> When he came to my baby, you had an absence and I'm a mother at the end of the day. I am not okay. On February 24th, officers were dispatched to a Walmart after receiving a report of a woman who was allegedly shoplifting while accompanied by her children. When officers approached her, she even separated the unpaid merchandise when asked about it. >> My office, I'll pay for it, but I wasn't. >> You got your ID on you? >> It's connected. >> Just let me see your ID. We'll we'll figure it out. ID here. Let me get >> just come to the loss prevention office and we'll figure it out with your ID. >> Oh, I'm good. >> You ever been in trouble before? >> You never been in trouble. This won't be a big deal. But they were watching you and they said that you didn't pay for a lot of this stuff. So, let's go in here and see what's going on and >> we'll figure it out. Just >> I'm sorry. >> No, that's fine. I'll tell you what. Since your kids in there, we'll let you push the buggy over there. Okay. >> They can push it. >> Well, you can push it. Your kids's in it. >> Push it. >> Your kids in it. >> But I have to pay for whatever. >> We'll figure it out. 3369 central. >> Sorry, guys. >> I'm out. >> The woman was taken to the loss prevention office so the merchandise could be reviewed and recovered. She remained cooperative throughout the process, but her behavior did not show any real sense of guilt. >> I have a lot of stuff. >> Yeah, it's going to take a minute. >> I just spent $400 something. >> You spent that much? >> 400. This is $400 and something dollars. >> Yeah, clothes are expensive for kids. >> Yeah, they are. Do you ever >> I'm trying A lot of the stuff I gave her back said I didn't want. So, I'm trying to figure out what did I >> Well, they were watching you on video and they said you didn't scan a bunch of it, but we'll see. We'll see. >> A bunch of >> Well, they some of I mean you if you paid that much >> anywhere. I know this. You don't have to be afraid, do we? It's okay. >> Hey, buddy. It's okay. >> Who's that on your shirt? Is that Woody? >> 228. >> What's in that bag up there? >> Oh, a rebuff bag. >> You know, I don't know where the recey Yeah, they can pull it up if you paid for a lot of stuff. >> Yeah, >> it's going to be a minute. >> It would have just had to It would have just came out, right? You just can't find it. >> I don't Yeah, I can't find it. It's probably one of the bags. >> All right. Are they getting you a bag? >> Okay. >> Here, help me just put this stuff in there. >> Absolutely. >> You paid on your credit card, right? >> Yeah. >> Well, we're just, you know, >> we're just going to see. >> Well, they were watching the cameras. They said you didn't pay for some stuff. So, >> who are they? >> The Walmart loss prevention people. The people who work here. Oh, >> it's their job. >> While the loss prevention team confirmed the value of the merchandise, the officers discussed the situation among themselves and shared a few observations about the incident. >> It's just going to be a citation. >> She uh she didn't pay for a lot of stuff. They're sorting it out now. She paid for like $400 worth of stuff, but she didn't scan about half of it. So, >> she has stuff that [music] >> but none shoplifting. >> No, that then it doesn't matter. So, here's her ID. >> They're still going through all the stuff now. She's got her baby with her. She's being cooperative. I told her she's probably just going to get a citation, get barred. So, >> all right. I'll go ahead and get to this. >> All right. So, we were looking at your criminal history. It doesn't look like you had any shoplifting. Look like you got some thefts that got dismissed. >> Yeah, that was like situation. >> It doesn't matter because it's only shoplifting can matter. So, what she's doing is she's working on the citation. So, you'll get a citation. You'll have to go to court or something. >> Can I pay for that stuff? >> No, that's not how it works. I mean, once they catch you, they catch it. So, just let them do their thing and you can take the stuff you paid for obviously, but uh just let them do their thing. I'm going to leave my bag in there. >> Because she had a large amount of merchandise mixed in with the items she had paid for, the inspection was not finished yet. However, the impatient one was the suspect herself as she kept urging them to speed up the process. I'm >> not trying to be rude. Could you please tell them cuz they put a pep in the same way they risked or charged me. They didn't rush so I can go home. My baby's ready to go. >> They've got a process. They've got to go through it. It's going to take some time. >> But at the end of the day, I have a four days and I'm ready to go home. It does not matter. >> Y'all may not be moms, but you know, end of day, I'm a mom. >> Okay. >> They move to be funny. And I know it, but I'm not going to let nobody get me out of character to go to jail at the end of >> They're not trying to be funny. They want to get you out of here, too. >> Trust me, they're being funny. I know somebody being funny. I'm black already. >> Has nothing to do with it. >> Trust me. I'm black. She's being funny. >> Okay. >> I don't understand being a black person. They're being >> And we're just waiting for that so I can um finish filling out your citation. We just need to come on. >> I ain't got nothing on my background. The police kept asking me that. I don't know sir. I'm 29, not 12. >> So, you were on probation for theft by taking, but that was 12 months. When was that? >> That was not 12 months from now. >> It was like I was like 23 29. >> It was at me and this girl I was working with. >> At this point, the receipt had been verified and the officers explained what she would have to face next. >> You will have to go to court on April 11th at 9:00 a.m. for that. And then if you can sign right there on the X, it's not a mission of guilt. It's just saying you received it. >> Ain't no way in the hell I had almost $200 worth of stuff together. I don't believe that. >> They really didn't be doing it too much. I ain't no way in hell. >> Well, we've got it. We'll just list it all in the report for you. And >> I don't believe that, but I pay for it. No way. $200 worth. >> We'll have that video in court so you'll be able to review it then. I mean, I ain't at you all that. Your mouth really smart. >> Oh, I'm just saying. >> I'm just saying, too. Like, it's not should nobody but the police be talking to me. >> Okay. Okay. >> I got 28. >> That's it. Only the police. >> Like she did say, you'll have the video available in court to review. >> At the end of the day, like I said before, when she came back, I do be feeling like they be trying to be funny, >> and I don't like it. At the end of the day, it is what it is. Okay? And I ain't say nothing about you doing your job, but my thing is when it came to my baby, you had an attitude. And I'm a mother at the end of the day. I ain't saying that. Okay. My kids are way more important than little funky merchandise. I'm being honest. >> All right. Cuz I'm from the street for real, bro. I'm not going to tolerate nobody disrespect me when it come to my >> never disrespected you. >> You really did cuz you trying to tell me about my when I'm ready. >> I didn't tell you to tell. I just said that I had a date with her. >> But y'all didn't need me here to do any of that. So, if you if you feel like there is an issue with that, you can talk to um the manager here and you can file a report with them about that. >> Oh, no. I'm fine. I'm done. I don't have no issue. >> She was charged with theft by shoplifting and received a citation along with a 2-year ban from the Walmart property. [music] She later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months of probation and $395 in court costs. Being cooperative does not erase the consequences of a theft. Taking responsibility early is far better than trying to argue your way out once the evidence has already been documented. >> Where come >> where? I ain't got it this time. >> Coming. >> Get out of here. >> On the 5th of February 2024, officers were dispatched to a Kohl's department store after receiving a report about a woman who was concealing designer clothes and jewelry on her person inside a fitting room. Here's what happened when they arrived on scene. She's in the changing room right now. She's got jewelry and some clothing in there. She tries to purse. And I got footage from her in the past store and stuff like that. >> Okay. You have an LP office. >> Yeah. I kind right. >> Where's the room? >> So, what does she look like? Africa. If you know your AIDS, gray sweatpants, black hoodie with a white symbol on the back. Okay. Right here for >> y'all never CTW. >> No, she it's been recent. I was going to fill out police before I got all the evidence and everything. Mhm. >> Just haven't had time to put in a police report. Been busy. >> Okay. >> 2531. Where you at? >> If you come in the store, we're going to be in the center by the fitting room. >> Yeah, you can go if you want. >> The officers waited for the woman while she was using the fitting room. As soon as she stepped out, they approached her, but she immediately did something unexpected. >> Come here, >> sir. Go ahead and come, man. >> Where? I ain't got it. This >> coming. I got one running. Get out of >> Where you at? right out front. She's in custody >> now. That was about the dumbest thing you could have done. >> Why we run? >> Cuz I'm on my on my nose. >> All this. I'm with somebody and they had me stealing >> for socks. Going to jail for socks. >> Let's get her inside. If they got a loss prevention area, we'll search her there. >> Yeah. >> After that, she was taken to the loss prevention office where the search continued. Yeah, I see it. All right. Hey, look at me. You're a female. I'm going to search you. I'm going to walk through what I'm doing as I'm doing it. Okay. >> Okay. >> How much stuff do you have on you? >> I do have some in my pants. >> Okay. Do me a favor. Face towards the camera or face away from me. All right. I'm going to pull the back of this way. Is it underneath here as well? >> Okay. Train. >> Well, here. >> He's where? >> We're code for Go ahead and send me his case number. >> Hey, she's got a buddy that was here. We went to her last time was at the registry right now. try to check out. >> Is he attempting to shoplift? >> No, not this time. But we have a case. >> Can you follow case number with us and everything? >> No. Yeah. Well, I got this and I got nothing on. >> All right. I'm going to unzip your jacket. What are we wearing underneath it? >> Oh, I just got on my shirt in my >> Okay. >> Additionally, by running away, she faced an additional charge, but she did not seem worried because she believed she could not be charged for an unbelievable reason. >> Because you ran, you have an extra charge. Okay. >> You are going to go to Perry. >> Okay. Concealing stuff on you when you get inside of Perry is an extra charge. >> Did I miss anything? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Press. >> Not me being a minor. I got >> You're a minor. How old are you? >> My November 14th, 2002. >> How old are you? >> Hold on. You said 2002. You're 20. >> You're not a minor. >> Minor people under the age of 18. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Should be a $300 bracelet somewhere as well. >> Where's the bracelet at? >> I left it. >> You left it? >> Did you take it out of the packaging? >> Uh, no. Yeah, I left it in the thing. >> Okay. These are $40 shirts. Yeah. >> Have a seat. >> All right. All right. >> I don't know if you heard, but multi multi. >> Okay. >> Um I think two through bib went through cob. >> Bib and cob. >> Yeah. Okay. Go ahead. Stand up for me. And when it go >> uh price wise just is this I'll get you a receipt and give it to you. >> I've got Oh, you already got it. >> Price. I'm just trying to think. Still still. >> After that, the walk of shame took place, but surprisingly she did not seem embarrassed at all. >> Yeah, it's over five cuz of the necklace that's still missing. >> We got to that though once we started adding up the shorts and stuff. Yeah, >> that's why I don't do this so cold. >> I know. They sell caterpillar jackets. I didn't even know Caterpillar had a line of clothes. >> Yeah, it's crazy. >> Wow. >> All right. >> Look like you had fun. >> Try to like transport us cuz I thought they were over there. >> No, we both pulled up here. I went one I went the wrong direction. I think that's why she took off. Go ahead and have sweet forms. >> No, we got it. Thanks for coming out, though. The woman was charged with felony shoplifting, resisting, and fleeing law enforcement after concealing merchandise, and running from officers. Running from police will not make a theft charge disappear. It can only lead to even more serious consequences. >> Arrest >> for what, though? I didn't shop. >> But I didn't shoplift. I wasn't even there today. >> I'm not running from you. >> Yeah, just turn it. On the 26th of March 2024, police were dispatched to Shopright after receiving a report of a theft and return fraud committed by a woman. Unfortunately, the store only discovered the incident after she had already fled the store. When officers arrived, the staff had conducted an investigation through the store's surveillance cameras. So, it was brought to my attention that this morning there was a suspicious female came to selfch checkckout, only paid for $36.27 27 cents worth of merchandise. >> Mhm. >> But everyone said that she had bags full of groceries. >> Okay. >> So, I went back and I reviewed it and sure enough, she had selected about $182.3 worth of merchandise >> as well as a $44.99 item that she returned that she selected from the sales floor. So, altogether it comes to 22702. So, I have all of the information here. I'll bring it up for you. What is that uh returned item that you talked about? >> So, the returned item is >> the Mario cart. So, it's a toy. She grabs it from aisle 8, comes right up, goes right to courtesy, returns it. >> We have a policy purchase. >> Yeah. Without a receipt, we can give you a gift card. >> Okay. >> And that's what we did. So, we returned 97 gift card with 298 tax. >> So, she essentially just got free money for it. >> Okay. um purchase that she did make 65 Sierra Whiskey Lima >> the purchase >> for what she did get >> and then I gave you a copy of everything that she selected. So, the way I do my investigations >> are I follow them from the time they enter the store to the time they exit. And everything they pick up, I write it down and then I go around, grab pictures of the items, go to the register, and actually get a physical receipt for you guys. >> Beautiful. >> So, I'm going to start with this is the female. >> Okay. >> I have a credit card. She paid with She did pay with a credit card, but we only at the last four digits of a card. >> Okay. >> Continuing to review the surveillance footage, the store employee was able to point out each of her actions >> from aisle 7, walking up with the item, walking to courtesy, returning the item, and then going to selfch checkckout. So, this is her right here. The orange reddish item on top is the item she had selected from the aisle. >> That's the Mario Kart. >> Mhm. That's the Mario Kart. And you can see bags full of merchandise there. >> Mhm. >> The dog food she actually does pay for as well as the milk, the bagels, which >> are those annotated separately? >> Yes. So I have the >> This is stuff that was paid for. >> Yep. This is stuff that was paid. >> This is stuff that was not paid for. >> Yep. So this receipt is unpaid. >> This receipt here is the return fraud. >> This receipt is what she purchased. So you can compare and see what was >> beautiful >> versus what wasn't. So the dog food she pays for bagels, milk, and English muffins are the things that she actually does pay for. So the total of unpaid goods, >> the total of unpaid goods is 22702 and that is pre-tax. >> The total unpaid goods is 182. >> Oh yeah, 1823. The returned is 44. Anyway, >> correct. >> So she walks up here, she explains her story, uh, which the cashier was not here, so I couldn't find out exactly what she said. Most likely just a standard. I don't need it anymore. >> He then takes the item. They moved to this register, which I have video of the actual register counter as well. So, >> based on the images provided by the store, officers were able to track down the woman's home. She appeared to understand exactly what was happening and was already trying to avoid it. >> You mind stepping on the dog? Excuse me. >> You mind stepping out the dog? >> The window. Hold on one second. Back up. Back up. Back up. She for sure 41 27. >> Hi. Can I help you? >> Yes. Uh, were you at shop right earlier today? >> Yesterday I was. >> Yesterday? >> Yes. >> Okay. Did you happen to not purchase anything? >> Let me put them outside. I'm sorry. Come here. If >> you can just step out, we can have a conversation with you. That would be better. >> Don't forget to uh Miranda. Woohoo. At this point if it looks like it will cause a charge. All right. Step outside her asking question. >> I mean regardless of what she says right which we have the question. >> Refusing to follow me. So I'm sorry. I'm actually just I'm babysitting the little puppy. So it feels like a nightmare. >> But yes I was there yesterday. >> Okay. Uh, do you want to step outside to talk to us? >> I I don't know. I'm a little nervous because I don't I' I've just heard that it's better to talk from inside. Like I >> Okay. >> All right. Well, um, I'm going to read this to you really quick. Okay. >> It was suspicious that she tried to hide inside the house instead of directly facing the officers. At that point, she also openly denied having any involvement in the shoplifting incident. >> Um, yes, I do. I don't have anything. >> Okay. So, cuz I'm confused as to why Shopright has to do with anything. >> Okay. So then when you went to shop, right, you didn't end up like not purchasing anything. You everything you purchase or everything you had in your cart you purchased? >> Yeah. I all I got I think all I got was I just put it away was a a brownie kit and bagels. That's all I got. >> Okay. And then did you happen to go and get uh an item and then return it without purchasing it? Okay. All right. Well, do you mind stepping out and talking to us now? >> No. >> Okay. Okay. >> Well, do you want to respond to to headquarters for me? Uh >> sure. What? What do I do there? >> Uh, so you're going to be placed under arrest >> for what, though? I didn't shopift. But I didn't shoplift. I wasn't even there today. >> What's What's your first name again, man? >> Danielle. >> Danielle. All right, Danielle, step outside the house. >> No, I'm going to meet you there. But please, that's not how it works. You're under arrest. >> I I Wait, I didn't do anything though. >> Danielle, >> I would like Okay. You said that I could call my lawyer. I'd like to call my lawyer, but I will come there. Do you just talk to your lawyer afterward? >> You just said I could meet >> with losses totaling 227.02. $02 in evidence provided by the store. Officers had sufficient grounds to arrest the woman. She eventually agreed to face the officers, but now she wanted them to speak with her lawyer instead. >> What's going right now? >> He's right here. The cop is right here. >> So, can you let me know? So, tell talk to Can you Can you talk to him? Tell me what what's going on. >> My husband, >> sir, your wife's being arrested for shoplifting. Go call you when she's done with everything that's going on. All right. All right. Thank you. Hang on. Let's go. Let's go. >> He said he said your wife made her shopping. Call him when he'll call you when it's done. [screaming] >> Hang on. Step out of the house. >> Can I take one hit of this place? It's just a beep. It's not It's not just regular beep. >> Do you have anything else on you? >> I'm so sorry. I did not mean to. Can I lock Can you lock that, please? If you press the top button, press all the way on the top. >> All right, man. >> Push that down. >> One. >> No. No. All the way around top behind your back. >> And then just turn the Can we Is there any way we could do this in the car? Like I'm not like you. Oh my god. I'm not running from you. Yeah, just turn it. The top part. Yeah. The like the Yeah, turn to the left. Although she tried to deny her actions, her anxious reaction to being arrested suggested that she was afraid of being exposed. >> Yeah. Like if you press that button and then turn it to the left. >> Did it go all the way though? Okay. Thank you. >> Went from spinning. >> Can you grab my phone, please? >> I'm sorry. >> I thought I'm sorry. I thought you said keep >> I'm really nervous. I've never been arrested before. Like I'm really nervous. >> It's okay then. >> All right. walk. >> We're going to go to right here. >> Stay right there for me. >> Here. >> Yep. What is going to happen now? >> You're going to get fingerprinted and processed. We're more than likely going to get released on some arrest. >> Oh, yeah. I don't have >> I don't have any pockets or anything. >> No pockets. >> No, no pockets. I have no bra on either, >> so there's nothing in my bra. >> She was arrested for shoplifting and theft by deception involving approximately $182.03 03 in unpaid merchandise and $44.99 from the fraudulent return totaling $227.02. She was ultimately released on a criminal summon. Trying to avoid the police does not make the evidence disappear when the evidence is already documented. The smarter choice is to remain calm, exercise your right to remain silent, and seek legal counsel. >> There's nothing like checks and cash. I mean, obviously, you know, million counterfeit checks for check. >> So, how does this work? If this check is uh supposed to be not good, what will I do about it? >> On the 29th of November, 2021, officers received a report from a check cashing establishment after a woman presented a payroll check that was suspected to be counterfeit. When they arrived at the scene, the employees provided specific details to support their allegation. >> We've cash several cookout checks before. It's nothing like the cookout checks from cash. I mean, I've seen a million counterfeit checks and that looks just like every one of them I've ever seen. So, >> okay. >> He said that he's cashed phones like this before and that's all right. >> The woman believed to be the suspect was standing nearby and voluntarily explained where the check had come from. However, her explanation was unclear and raised doubts about its credibility. >> I worked at uh Cookout and I got that in the mail because I had moved it. >> That's that's all I know. So, I couldn't catch it. >> Do you have the rest of the pay stuff? >> No, I don't have it with me. I threw it in the trash. I mean, I had no reason to keep it. >> Where'd you cook at where you work at? >> The one in high school. >> The one in high school. >> The one in high school. >> Yeah. I thought I got my last check in the mail. people before, but that one came. So, I didn't >> didn't think nothing about it. >> Excuse me. >> You got to stay here with this officer. She's going to get from some information from me and I'll be right back. >> You said that was your last check. >> Yeah. >> So, how does this work? If this check is uh supposed to be not good, what will I do about it? >> That's what the other officer is going to be able to explain once we figure out what's going on. When did you get the check in the mail? Probably about 4 days ago. 5 days ago maybe. It might have been before that because it was brought to me. Like it was it came in the mail, but it was brought to me cuz I I'm not I was still at my aunt's house, so she's on hospice. But uh so all my mail was brought to me. >> How long ago did you stop working there? probably about probably had it been about a month. That's what I'm saying. Like I when when I I didn't think your last check would come in the mail anyways. >> At that point, the officer called the company listed on the check to verify the information. And it seemed that the call had finally clarified everything. >> We have a young lady here in Savannah trying to cash uh one of y'all's checks and uh the place she's trying to cash it at says it's fraudulent and we're trying to verify whether it is or is not. Would you be able to tell me? Do you have the check or not? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. Would you be able to tell me um it says Cookout what on it? >> Uh it says Cookout-Hinesville, Inc. PO Box 9 uh excuse me, 698 Thomasville, South Carolina, blah blah blah. >> Okay. What does the check number say? >> Uh the fourdigit number says 7765. >> August 6, 2021. Is that the date? Uh, the only date on here that I see says 211122. >> My check number 7765 is written out to SFM Williams >> for $43.86. >> Yeah. No. Uh, this one for check number 7765 is uh written out to a Deanna Heathcoat or Hathcoat for 1,27645. >> Yeah. No, that's not. And this is a um >> it says Wells Fargo N. A dot. >> Yeah, that is not our check. >> This is not yours. >> No, it is not. >> Okay. Well, >> I want to get their information to confirm. All right, man. Hold on one second. Um, >> by this point, it was difficult for the woman to deny the offense, and the officers placed her in handcuffs shortly afterward. >> Do you have anything on it that we need to know about this? >> All right, go ahead and put your hands behind your back. This all you have now. Officer Moy's going to check this. Make sure you don't have anything else. >> No. >> So, I don't I don't I mean, I don't understand what's going on. >> Okay. Well, we'll tell you in just a minute. We're going to get you placed in the back of the car. You got anything on you? >> No. Anything that's supposed to stick me? Anything on it? I don't have adorable. I just The check was determined to be worth less than $1,500, making it a misdemeanor so she would not have to be taken to jail for it. On the way, the officers explained what she would be facing and what would happen next. So, due to the jail not accepting misdemeanors, what we're doing is they're fingerprinting and then you'll get a what's called a subpoena form. This form right now, it just says TBD. So, it has the address that you gave me. They'll mail you a subpoena to let you know when your court date is and everything. Once you get that, then all you have to do is show up to court. >> Oh, I can fight this, right? I mean like it's something that's fightable. >> You'll get to tell your side of it from to the courts. >> Okay. >> So, normally you would be taken to the jail, >> right? >> Like I said, because they're not accepting misdemeanors at the moment, they won't you won't be taken to the jail. It's still the same process. It's just you're not sitting in a cell. >> The woman was later released and was charged with fourthderee forgery. a misdemeanor. When something seems too good to be true, taking a moment to verify it can prevent a much bigger problem. Trying to explain away inconsistencies only makes the situation harder when the facts are quickly confirmed. >> Made a mistake uh my daughter birthday. That's it. >> Your birthday. >> Hey, [screaming] Isabella. >> Isabella. >> On the 28th of October, 2024, officers received a report from a shopping store about a theft that had taken place. What seemed like a simple shoplifting case quickly escalated. From the very beginning, the situation spiraled out of control. In a second, I will talk to him in a second. Can you sign up? >> Stop touching my stuff. He No, he's not for a second. >> But he No, no, no. I can't talk to you when you're >> think that's funny. He is the devil. I rebuke you. >> Can you sit down? >> Sit down. Honey, it's okay. Sit down for a second, please. So I can talk to you. >> No, I don't feel comfortable. He did not make me feel comfortable. I gave me I gave him something and he did not make me feel comfortable. I don't want to sit down. Okay. >> I don't want to sit down. >> You going to take a breather? >> He thought that was funny. He I swear to God, he did that on purpose. >> Okay. >> Where's your baby? >> He thought that was funny. >> Is your baby here? >> He thought that was funny. >> What's your What's your name, hun? >> I don't understand. He got his stuff. Why is this going any further? >> You want to take it? >> No, I'm taking it. >> Why is this going any further? I don't get it. >> Hold on. Hold on. Just >> Is your child here? >> She have her. Who have her? >> I don't understand. I want to see what her friend should be outside with her baby and then her baby girl. >> Okay, so they're well taken care of, right? >> Can I get you those? >> The woman had brought her family with her, but her main concern was portraying herself as the victim when confronted about the theft. Even providing her ID and cooperating with the officers was not easy. >> That's weird. That's weird. >> Do you have an ID on you? >> I don't have nothing on you, bro. I This is like a like >> So, listen to We were called down here. I'm going to need an ID from you just because I need to figure out who I'm speaking to and I don't want just your name. I want an actual ID. Okay? I'm being very respectful to you. This officer has been very respectful to you. I just want to know who I'm talking to. Okay? >> I'm just trying to figure out like what what I don't like. He got his stuff. I don't understand. This is he he held me here. Like he held me here like is that even like the Is that even like he after he got his stuff? >> Can I start off with your phone number, ma'am? >> Is that even like >> Hold on. Hold on. Don't leave >> cuz I made a video actually. >> It's okay. >> And I never got your name actually. >> She still claimed that the employee had intentionally accused her of theft. So, the officer confronted her directly, leaving her with little choice but to admit what she had done. >> I'll be honest with you, there's cameras all over the store. And it's these I'll be honest, these two are pros at what they do. They they're they're always calling us constantly and they always have proper camera footage to show everything. So, nine times out of nine almost, they're spot on when they tell us someone's stealing from their store. And considering the fact that you're not straight up denying it, you're not giving me another version of a story. I mean, what? So that's why I'm just trying to get to the understanding point. Why are we doing this? I mean, is there a certain reason behind it? I can explain that in my police report. She's doing this because X, Y, and Z. Or she's doing this because she's a selfish person, which I don't think that's the case considering you're a little tearjerkering right now. So I think there's some goodness in here and you're looks like you kind of made a mistake, but I can't assume that. I need to hear it from you. What What is the truth? >> Yep. I made a mistake. Uh, my daughter birthday. That That's it. >> Your birthday? >> No, my daughter birthday. >> Daughter birthday. >> When was your birthday? >> Um, on the 25th? >> This This last next month. >> She admitted what she had done without showing any shame. In fact, she revealed that the stolen items were meant for her daughter. Something she later openly admitted. >> How old is she? >> Two. >> Two. Okay. So, you >> just That makes sense. And that's why I'm assuming they're all kids stuff, right? >> Yes. It's all for her. >> All kid, right? >> Can you tell me some details as far as how you did it? >> I I just want to hear it from you especially if you >> I I don't have no >> You don't have the details. >> So, you have a warrant for your arrest regardless. Okay. >> Yeah. I'm not sure what it's for. Okay. So, we're just going to have to take you back to the station, figure out if we can release you. Hopefully, it should not take too long. Um I'm pretty sure most of the ones that we've been dealing with, they are. Um, so we have to figure that out and then we'll figure out what for today. Okay. >> Have you been arrested before? >> Mhm. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Did you miss a court date or something? >> Yeah, I think I just probably did. >> That could be it could be the reason why. >> So, we got to go to jail for that. >> No, we were going to go to the booking first, go to our station, and they're going to tell us exactly what they want you want us to do with you, quote unquote, etc. With that being said, your friend, who is your friend to you? my friend. >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. Close. I mean, are you okay with her taking your child? >> Let me open the door so we're not hang >> out here. >> Hang out. >> Her behavior showed that she did not see her actions as a serious matter. She even continued casually using her phone to contact people outside, forcing the officer to stop her. But that only marked the beginning of the chaos. >> I'm really not. You don't have to touch my phone. >> I'm not going to. Okay. >> A miss to see a tripping. You don't have to touch my phone. >> All right. So, at this point in time, we're just going to take care. Give her a call. Give her a call so you can so you can have your kids. >> They knocking on the Why y'all not telling them to Why you not >> Do you want me to tell them? >> Obviously. >> Okay, I'll tell them. >> Do you guys Obviously. >> Okay, then I'll tell them. Okay. All right. Do me a favor. >> Stop touching my stuff. >> Okay. Do me a favor. Why should >> Stop touching my stuff. Stop. >> I understand that. But why is you Isabella? [screaming] Hey Isabella. Hey Isabella. >> Isabella. >> Stop. Stop. >> Why are you holding on to it? >> Why are you [laughter] holding on to me like that? Why you you Why are you holding on to me like that? Why are you holding on to me like that? Why you holding on to me like that? Why you holding on to me like that? Why is you holding on to me like that? >> All right, perfect. >> Okay, stop. >> And stop resisting. I'm not >> stay down. >> Stay down. >> Okay, [screaming] stop. >> Stop. >> You're fine. >> Okay, you're fine. Stop. >> That's cuz your ass wrestling me. I can just be normal. >> I'm not calling it. you come up on it. >> You [ __ ] What the I doing? >> Her attitude only showed how defiant she was and it ultimately meant she would not be going home to her child that day. Yet, she still did not seem to care, continuing to make things difficult for the officers. >> I'm not your dog. You got me up. You got me up. [screaming] What the I'm not your dog, though. Stop treat me like that. The I could be normal. I didn't disrespect you. You don't want to grab my what the let me go. >> She just very obnoxious. This tried to touch my the nobody be obnoxious. She's grabbing on to my >> I don't give a Well, if you don't give a then we'll add another charge. The You're touching my How am I supposed to act? the you're you're grabbing onto my stuff. >> You want this stuff going back to your kid? >> Duh. >> Okay, then act like it. Stop being like this. >> You That's my go. >> Then I'll take it back. I'll take it back to the PD and your baby won't have it. So keep acting like >> about that damn uh stroller. >> All right, let's go. >> You want to search her first? >> Yeah. Get over. >> Search me for what? >> Cuz you're under arrest. >> Dang. >> All right. Just leave it. Stay there. >> You're not moving anywhere. >> Search you. It's not. Bro, what is you searching me for, dude? This [ __ ] is just You need to give her You need to give her my stuff. >> Okay, we'll give her your stuff, but if you keep acting that way, she's not getting anything. Okay, so just be respectful and then you'll be done with your so goofy. >> She was charged with shoplifting, theft, and resisting [music] a peace officer. [snorts] Stealing is never justified, even when the items are meant for someone you love. Resisting officers only makes the situation worse and can lead to additional charges. >> Get them. >> I'm calling. >> Okay. >> I got the kids on me. I'm under arrest. >> On the 2nd of September 2024, officers stopped a vehicle believed to be involved in fleeing after thefts from multiple stores. Inside the vehicle were a woman and several children. Here is what happened next. Hi. Do you have your ID with you? >> Oh, no. Actually, I don't have >> You don't have your license on you? >> Okay. Can you turn the car off? >> Yeah, I believe I got it. Just start me at 10 to Columbia. >> Hey, keep the keys out of the ignition. >> Keep the keys out of the ignition. What initially appeared to be a smooth stop quickly took an unexpected turn when the woman suddenly made a dangerous move, putting both herself and others at risk. >> Do not move. Get out of the car now. Get out of the car. >> Get out of the car. >> Stop. Hold on. Okay, let me just make a call for the case. >> No, not right now. >> I'm not going to move. I got you. I got I'm not moving. Hey, hey, listen to the cops. Okay, don't get scared. Yes, sir. >> Turn and face the car. Do >> you have anything on you I got to know about? >> No. >> No. >> No >> knives? >> No. >> Are you good? >> What's in your pocket? >> Nothing. >> What? >> You what? Nothing. >> There's something in your front pocket. >> No. Check it. >> Just under the pants. >> Do you have pants under these? >> Yeah. >> Is there something in there? >> It's okay. >> What's under your pants? Leggings. >> Yeah. I'm not moving. I'm not moving. I got you. >> Your legs, >> baby. Watch out. Watch out. Watch out. >> Hey, look, buddy. Watch out. >> Do you have your ID with you? >> Yeah. >> Where is it? in here. >> Yeah, >> just lean up against the car. >> She did not seem concerned about her family member as he got out of the vehicle. Instead, it was the officers who had to take the initiative and ask her to find someone to come and pick him up. >> Can I call somebody to get the car? >> You can call somebody to get the kids? >> Yeah. >> Who do you want to call? >> Yeah, I'll call somebody. Can you turn the car off? >> We'll take care of it. >> Infield. Can you just call because they the kids are here? Mama. >> Mama, I need you to come get call my dad so you can come get the kids. >> What are you pulling in your pants? >> Nothing. I'm fixing. I'm sorry. >> Is somebody coming to get them? >> I'm calling. >> Okay. >> I got the kids on me. I'm under arrest. >> Is that I know. I'm lucky she got stuck. >> She would not have stopped. >> She She would have rammed me. >> Think so? >> Yeah. >> She's very comfortable with them. Like she's like agile or something. Shortly afterward, officers searched her vehicle and discovered a large amount of Nike and Victoria's Secret merchandise, suggesting that the total value of the stolen goods was far from insignificant. >> Then we were all on this road cuz she wasn't leaving. But I I pulled up in front of her here >> and she immediately started to drive forward. This whole seat is loaded with Nike Victoria's Secret. >> I got some questions for you if you off. >> Okay. >> I'm going to read you your rights real quick. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. Having these rice in mind, do you wish to wave those rice and talk to me right now? >> No. >> No. Okay. >> What's your question? Oh, but I'm not What's your question? I don't have to answer you. >> I'm not I'm not asking any questions unless you agree to talk. >> I agree to talk. >> Okay. You You're willing to wave your right to a lawyer and talk with me, >> but I don't have to answer you. >> That's right. >> I can ask for a lawyer at any time. >> Okay. Go ahead. >> So, you're good with me asking a question without a lawyer and you'll decide if >> if I want to speak to a law if I want >> if you want a lawyer at after I ask a question. My question to you is where did all the Nike merchandise come from? >> It's mine. >> It's yours? >> Yes. >> From where? >> The store. >> Which one? >> Kohl's. >> Okay. Kohl's in Enfield. >> No. >> Kohl's another town. >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you have receipts for those? >> Um Apple Pay. Yeah. >> Okay. Would you mind showing me your Apple Pay receipts? >> Like if I have to show proof in order to get anything back, I got you. It's not. >> Okay. I mean, yeah, that's that's kind of what I'm looking for right now because if we don't have proof that it's yours, presumably based on the call type, we would seize it and hold it until we get the proof. >> Okay. >> Are you going to show me the receipts so I can just keep it in your car? >> I do. >> What's up? >> Hey, it's okay. One of them is right here. Two of them from the cash up transaction. Apple. >> So, it was all So, my last question is, why didn't you just stop? Why did you take off? >> I had anxiety. >> Anxiety. >> Yeah. While she denied stealing anything, another officer went back to the store and heard a very different story from the employees. >> You guys, is there any chance she came in and out before you guys saw her stealing the one item? >> It's certainly possible. Yeah. >> Can we check the cameras for that? >> Yeah. I mean, it would just be kind of a crap too. >> Yeah, cuz her car, the passenger side, was completely loaded with Nike merchandise. Could she have her kids in here with her? >> No, they were in the car. >> And where was the car parked? Like a was it a handicap spot or something? >> No, it was like midway down. >> Okay. >> Just the lot. Just I mean it's a quiet car so >> Yeah. >> How did you guys know it was on? >> We watched her get in >> and just take off. Yeah. >> Oh, so no keys were input or anything? >> No, there was no way like she got in so quick cuz I was just come back from break when my assistant manager was coming outside like watching to look at her and then we thought she was going to get in the passenger seat cuz you could like see that it was on like the brake lights, whatever. >> Okay. >> And then she got in before the door was even closed. She was already driving away. >> I'm guessing she's not being super cooperative of where she got it all >> a little bit. But she's saying like, "Oh, I previously purchased all that." >> Gotcha. Okay. So, Jasmine right there, who works up front, got the bad vibe from her. >> Okay. >> So, that's when Hey, hey, hey. In the end, the woman was charged with one count of endangering a child, three counts of lararseny, one count of possessing a shoplifting device, one count of interfering with police, one count of engaging officers in a pursuit, [music] and six additional counts involving motor vehicle and child safety violations. This case showed how quickly a theft investigation could escalate when a suspect chose to flee instead of cooperating with officers. Denying the theft did not erase the evidence, especially when surveillance footage and witness statements revealed what had actually happened. >> There's no world, >> dude. What is your problem? >> Watch me. Watch you. What? >> There's no Watch me. >> Watch you going to do my partner. >> Get away with my partner. >> Get away. On the 31st of August 2024, police received a call from a public store after reports that a man had caused a disturbance by asking multiple people for money. But to get more details, they listened to the store employees accounting in. [snorts] >> I saw your text. I turned my phone on for the first time in like a week. I was attorney [music] all week, but I was already calling my phone. >> So, did you cuz I did call? >> Yeah. I I was on my way there. Somebody gave him a bag of food. So he's probably right on the other side. [snorts] >> I like The officers then approached the man and he immediately gave them an angry look, signaling that things were about to escalate with his hot temper. >> All right. >> Hey, what's going on, boss? >> What's up, boss? >> What's going on? I'm eating. >> I'm eating. I'm eating. >> Excuse me. >> See, I'm eating. >> What's What's wrong? What's up? >> I'm eating, bro. You can't stand when you want my food boy. >> Excuse me. >> Don't you see I'm eating? >> Excuse me. Excuse me. I'm going to tell you right now. Let's bring it down. The reason we're here is because the manager of Publix said they wanted you to trespass. Somebody bought you food, but they wanted you trespass. We come here, we speak to you nicely. We're not raising. >> Don't lie to me. I brought my food. Don't Don't lie to me. I am about to lose my patience which I don't guarantee you don't want me to do. So yes, I'm not lying to you. Publix wants you trespass and what and what you're going to start getting mad. You going to start raising your voice? >> You going to do that? I don't think so. >> Now we can either handle this quietly like men. >> I'm eating. >> I don't give a where they don't want you here. You didn't buy food. Somebody you food. >> Go tell him. Go show me the person. Somebody bought you. Show me your receipt. Show me your receipt. >> [ __ ] you, bro. Don't you see my food I'm buying, dude? Look. >> You have your Do you have your ID on here? >> Dude, get away from me, man. I brought my food away. >> Get the away, man. Yo, I don't see nobody. Do you think I'm slow? >> The man showed no sign of cooperating, forcing the officers to draw their tasers. He noticed that and began to think twice about letting his temper get the better of him. >> This is how [snorts] it's going to work. I either tase your ass and take you to jail or you get your happy ass up and walk away. >> I don't want to tase you. I'd rather punch you. But this is what we're going to do. Do you understand me? Say you again. Now we're going to handle this nice. I'm going to put the taser away. You slow. There's no in the world. There's no in the world. There's no in the world. >> Dude, what is your problem? >> Watch me. >> Watch you what? >> There's no Watch me. >> Watch the world. Watch me. >> Watch you. What? >> Is that a threat? >> I bought my Get away. >> You didn't You didn't buy your >> You're here on public property. They don't want you here. >> Get the Don't you lying to me, dude. >> I'm not lying to you. >> Yes, you are. >> Everyone say >> I'm smarter than your >> I guarantee you're smarter than me. >> Get the away. >> Yeah. >> Get up. >> Go show me the person that that said that. Go show me. You think I'm going tell you? Get away from me. I'm intelligent, man. Get away. >> You are smarter than I am. Get up. >> Go show me the person I'm getting. Go stab with my food, >> sir. >> Go show me the person. >> I'm about to throw everything away. So, >> you're not throw nothing away. >> Get up. >> You ain't I'll you. >> To put an end to the situation, the officers had to take decisive action. But that was also when the chaos began. >> You want to do my partner? >> Get away. You threatened my partner. >> Get away. Get I >> put your hands behind your back. >> You're going to get to burn food. Get away. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Stop resisting. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Oh, put your teeth up. Okay. Get away. My fingers my Get away. >> Get away from me. Get away from my food. You stick ass. You don't have no Get away. >> All right. You're >> Get the away. >> Get the away. Get away from me. >> Go ahead and step it up. We need you here. >> Get away from me. Yo, get away from me. >> Let go of the taser. Put your hands behind your back. Let go. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands back. >> His resistance escalated further as he even grabbed a taser and fired it at an officer, but he showed no remorse for what he had done. >> I can't I have to walk. You're just I was eating, man. Get away from me. I'm the good guy. Yo, get away from me, man. He's just trying to my legs. Trying to break my legs. You okay? >> You're just trying to break my legs. >> He's trying to me out. Okay. >> Yo, get off of me. What's your deal, man? I just buy food. Relax. Let me get you over here. >> Get the off of me, man. >> Don't move. You hear me? >> I'm not listening to you. >> This is my man. Get off of me. Yo. Hello. Yo. Get off of me. This is my stomach. I didn't I didn't >> Let's check him right here. >> Don't move. Don't move, buddy. Don't move. >> Do you have anything on you that's going to stick me, poke me, prick me? >> Stretch your legs. >> My legs. I did surgery, sir. >> The man was charged with battery on a police officer, resisting an officer without violence and trespass. He pleaded guilty and received 6 months in county jail with credit for 83 days already served. The incident shows how refusing to follow a lawful order and resisting officers can quickly turn a minor situation into a dangerous confrontation. Cooperating and simply leaving when asked could have prevented the injuries and additional charges. >> Do that on purpose, mister. Please, I've never been arrested in my life. I never been processed in my life, mister. I didn't I swear I didn't do that on purpose. >> On the 15th of June, 2024, police received a report of a woman shoplifting at the selfch checkckout. A team was dispatched to the parking lot to stop the people accompanying her as they loaded the merchandise into a vehicle. >> Yeah. What's going on? All right. >> I'm going copy this one. It's a late car. >> Push this one for me. >> Um, in between 15 and 60. >> You want to push this one for me? >> Yeah, I'll push that one. >> All right. I just have to have to come back. >> All right. >> What about that grill? >> That's fine. >> I got my receipt. So when I go in there, y'all can see everything. >> Look, that's Look, I just got here. I have no idea what what did it was making me agg. >> Okay. >> Which one you want me to push? >> This one cuz it's heavier. >> All right. >> Information. All units will be a New York. >> The merchandise was then taken back to the loss prevention office where the main suspect was already seated. Suspecting the woman in the white hoodie was also involved. Officers tried to gather information from her. >> Show it to the baby. >> No, but I think I dropped it. So, I want to see if he Yes. >> What's your social? >> What you get my social for? >> She said the same thing. So, in New Jersey when you seen your social and check for once >> Why you want to check for one for >> I didn't show up for damn thing. >> Yeah, I didn't know that. So if I got a warranty, no, I don't want y'all to get my sister if I got a warrant and I ain't shoplift. >> Well, you're with your sister who did shoplift. >> That me y'all can see we separate. I paid my stuff. That has nothing to do with me. >> We're trying to figure out right now the stuff that they sold on. >> He said he going to pull it up and tell you right now that's figuring out right now doing the investigation. >> Okay. >> So what's going to happen? I don't want to get involved >> in no I don't mean to put you through the other >> the Officer then confirmed that $330 worth of merchandise had not been paid for by the woman in black. While the woman in the white hoodie was allowed to leave after proving she was not involved. The suspect showed no shame and instead begged to be allowed to leave. >> $329 arrest for shot. >> I didn't do that on purpose. List >> please. I've never been arrested in my life. >> I understand that. Right now it's a fourth degree crime. So we have to go. We have to >> Please. I I never I never did nothing in my life. >> Don't seem like a bad person. >> No. And honestly, I'll just stand in the way I did it. >> It's unfortunate what happened to that. >> Oh my god. I never >> You'll have your time in the court. You can tell the judge. >> No. Did you have to do that to me? Please. >> Wait. Our hands are tied right now. We don't We have no other choice. >> Can I speak to the Sup? >> It's not up to them right now. >> Come on, Max. Please. I I never >> You're not going to jail. I've never did nothing in my life. >> Come with us. We're going to process you. >> I never had that. I never been process in my life. I didn't I swear I didn't do that on purpose. >> Oh my god. I never did. >> You can explain when your court date comes. >> I don't want a court date. >> Oh man. I never It's okay. >> No, it's not. >> You're not going to jail. No, but to have that on and to be I swear I didn't try to steal nothing. I didn't. >> But it's $330 worth. >> I didn't I didn't know. I told you when I saw the receipt 116, I'm like, "Oh." >> Her repeated and hesitant statements only made her less credible. At that point, the officers were certain of their decision and proceeded with the arrest. >> Oh my god. Okay. >> Please, sir. I swear to God. I know. No, please. I want my feelings. I don't want my family things. I swear I didn't try to spell. >> Oh my god. I didn't realize I had no >> She claimed it was a mistake, but that was just her trying to convince herself of it. Even after the officers explained the situation and showed her the footage from the cameras, she still refused to accept what had happened. >> To y'all, I'm not buying it. Like I said, I was standing away and when I saw her, I thought and then I was over to Evans. If I was trying to kill, I would have been out. I just I just watched video >> and it was pretty clear that some of the items would not I just watch you know that makes noise and it lights up some of the items over that screen which I swear between. >> Yes. So you you're telling me just just you tell me that you didn't know you didn't scan anything. Right. >> Right. Just watch what I'm going to watch and then you tell me if you didn't know you didn't scan. Okay. Cuz I I it looks like you know really well this video watch. >> No. No. I I'm telling you. Go ahead. Does that look like you tried to scan it? It looked like you faked it cuz you can tell that the screen didn't even blink. And so that means that the car didn't go >> and I wasn't and sorry. That's okay. >> And I was I swear to God I was not dealt. I had like double of those things. Then I put some things over there and I would give it back to the man. He took some. I I swear I I did not I don't want to I know y'all don't want to hear it. Y >> Her arguments completely contradicted what the store's footage had recorded. At that point, she accepted the outcome and asked for all the merchandise she had paid for to be refunded, only further confirming that she had not come there simply to shop. >> Groceries. >> No, just refund. >> Just refund. You guys, what are you guys able to do? >> Yeah, we're going to do that. Do you guys need the card that you probably I'm not sure. Sometimes they say yes, sometimes they say no. The card that is in your pocket right here. back. >> She was charged with fourthderee shoplifting. Her changing explanations only made her story less credible, especially when the camera footage directly contradicted her claims. Once the evidence is clear, trying to explain it away only makes the situation worse. There was just a there was just a a mistake I >> and then you have a grand total of every so it's 12 total incidences. >> On the 18th of March 2025, police were dispatched to Walmart's loss prevention office after receiving a report that an employee had taken merchandise without paying. When they arrived, she completely admitted that it had happened, but in a way that reduced the responsibility she had to face. >> Know what the accusations are? Yes. >> Okay. Um, do you want to tell me about it? >> Well, I was just a It was just a a mistake. I I really thought I would pay back the sodas and stuff. Like I I usually when I get paid, I buy a bunch of Mountain Dews and then I scan a bunch extra to make up for the difference. It's like I was trying to explain to her like I do that the bank to like over account over extend my uh my money and then you pay the $35 extra because you uh you're actually borrowing money from them. It was like borrowing but in the long run you're stealing it. But in my head, I was thinking, well, I'll pay it back because I was struggling to keep just basic foods in my refrigerator like peanut butter jelly and uh they've been feeding us lately, so that helped. And uh but mostly it's it's been a struggle because I have taxes due and everything and I was getting short the last 6 months with uh with everything like there's not a stitch of food in my refrigerator or my freezer. >> Her story was far from convincing to the officer because the store confirmed that this was not the first time she had done this and the officer tried to confront her with that evidence. So, did you know what was happening every day? So, is this like every day at break you would take a soda and >> Yeah. And most of the time I didn't have it in my pocket. Uh the next day I would uh I would put it put it in and it was just a matter of just always being short and just not going about it the right way. I thought I'd always catch up. >> Yeah. I always catch up cuz I was never like I like I sold I would never take money out of the register. I would never even think of or put stuff in my pocket or anything like that. It was just a soda and uh >> And where would you take that from in the store? >> Just at the counters and drink it >> right at the right at the checkout counter. You work on the register, >> right? >> Okay. Okay. So, like right there out of the cooler, you would grab a soda, >> drink it, >> and uh >> usually I would ring it up if I'm not catch catch the thing like on my break, I'll ring it up or I'll just wait till the end of the shift or do it the next day or not at all. >> Okay. >> So, we're here about the issues when not at all. It was never rung up. Okay. She then admitted how many times she had done it, further proving that there was no mistake at all. >> Do you know how many times you did this? >> Once a day. >> For how many days? >> Uh, four. >> So, four times that you remember it happening? >> Like, let's say like 15 like maybe $15 a week is that much. >> Okay. For how long? >> The last six months I've strugg been struggling. >> Okay. So, maybe 15 bucks a week for the last of doing that. I just been uh it's just something I started doing and I just got in the habit of it. >> Okay. So, maybe a couple times a week for the last 6 months. >> Yeah. >> Um anything other than that that you'd like to change, modify to your story, or anything you'd like to add? Okay. You ever been arrested before? >> I've had a DUI uh 25, 30 years ago. Anything else? You ever gotten anything any other trouble or arrests that you've been arrested for? >> Uh for domestic uh violence. >> Shortly after the store provided further evidence to support their accusations. >> I want to go over it, but that's every movie broken down every day because this is my first real. >> Yeah. >> But then some of these are like pictures maybe easier and some days I like really went and detailed just in case. Uh like right here, I didn't do it to everyone, but I did check it max system. Like I went to see how many were paid this day. >> Okay. >> And none of these were >> on the same day. >> Okay. >> That's just some of the stuff in there. But um some >> on your report, do you have the days with the amounts? >> Perfect. >> Everything's time she came in, time she left, time she selected. And two of the days I actually witnessed her do it. Like I was on the floor watching. >> One, two, three, four, five, six. And then you have a grand total of every. So it's 12 total incidences. >> Yep. I could do today, but she's not letting me. >> Who's that? >> She did it today, but Joan won't let me go out today. >> Okay. >> She She came out. I mean, do you want it? >> I I think we got more than enough here. >> Yeah. >> Clearly, getting away with it once gave the woman the confidence to do it again without fearing arrest. But that mindset led her to face the consequences today as the officer explained what she would have to deal with. >> The pattern of behavior, I mean, something like this, I I fully believe if you were in caught, you would still be doing it to this day. And I would I believe that it probably goes back. There's probably more than 12 incidents. Um, you have some criminal history, so you don't qualify for APAD, which is pre-arrest aversion. Okay. Um, yes, the total is $78, less than $100, but I think the bigger issue is the re repeated behavior over an extended period of time and likely would have continued for until you were caught, right? Um, you knew it was wrong. you knew it was you knew you knew you shouldn't be doing it. Um, you're an adult. Obviously, that's, you know, it's different if you're a kid and you're stealing a candy bar here and there. I mean, everybody's probably done that as a kid at some point in time, but you're an adult and over an extended period of time for 6 months this occurred. Um, I have a hard time believing that. You think that at some point you came here and bought and scanned more than you did. Um, moral of the story is when you come into a store, you buy something, you pay for it. If you don't, unfortunately, that's a theft. Okay? So, technically, this could be 12 different arrests for every single offense that was caught on camera. Today, we're just arresting you for the totality of it. Okay? In the end, she was arrested and charged with misdemeanor theft, petty theft. Repeatedly taking what does not belong to you can turn a small offense into a pattern of criminal behavior. No matter how minor the value may seem, continuing to make the same choice can eventually lead to serious consequences. >> What I'm gathering, somebody probably offered you money to do this. >> How much money would they offer you? >> How about for possession of fraudulent ID, committing fraud at the Grand Mar? On the 30th of March 2023, officers received a call from a Toyota dealership after employees discovered three suspects attempting to obtain a car loan worth more than $100,000 using stolen identities. As officers arrived at the scene, the suspects were quickly detained one by one. or any office speaking. >> First and foremost, my name is Detective. Speak English. >> Right now, you are being detained. You're not under arrest, but you're not free to go. Do you understand? >> I understand. >> Okay. >> We're here because the dealership called us. That being said, very first thing we're going to start with is your name. Before I get your name or any your information, you lie to me about your name, your date of birth, your address, anything like that, it's a completely separate crime than from whatever else we got going. Do >> you understand? >> The officer warned her about lying as the situation already appeared to resemble a fraud scheme with one person entering the dealership while a driver waited outside until the deal was completed. At this point, more information about her began to come to light. >> That being said, >> what is your name? >> Shar. >> What brings you to New York? friend. >> Did you come today? Yesterday? How long you been in here for? >> I came. I'm sorry. >> Do you have your passport with you? >> Yes, I do. >> Couple units to Toyota. I see you. You guys are getting a fraud. A female officer. >> I'm down in Toyota. Just give me an 18 check when you're by name when you're ready. First name's Shireen. For the privacy, I'm going to close the door. Okay. He's got his camera on. Anything like that. Before it takes any further, I have to read you. Make sure you understand. >> I've never been detained in my life. So >> well then warning. I'm a police officer. These are your constitutional rights. You have the right to remain silent. [music] Anything you say can or will be used against you in the court of law. Do you understand what I've just stated to you? >> If you do, do you wish to speak within? >> Okay. You understand the crux of why we're here. But manager calls us says two females are here as well. This idea I'm looking at very much looks like. You understand? >> I had the credit that was filled out. >> My only question to you is why >> and I got off like this and I've never done this in my life. >> This as in come and purchase this car. >> Okay. Did they provide you with this ID too? Whoever >> I just provided. Okay. >> And this ID you gave to general management today, correct? staff and staff. Now, from what I'm gathering, somebody probably offered you money to do this. >> How much money did they offer you? >> They didn't say. >> She had no choice but to be honest about what happened. And just as the officer suspected, the scheme was clearly organized. The suspect also admitted details about the people behind the operation. >> What were the instructions? >> They just told us to follow >> follow. >> I follow your conviction. So, I just didn't I didn't really I just have to follow. >> So, they said just follow her. Here's a fake ID and go and try and buy a car. Is that correct? >> Mhm. >> And she was she the one that told you that you can make money from this or how did you get involved with this? >> I told her that I I was having trouble. >> So, you told her you're in a little bit of financial trouble. >> She was also going through that and somebody that she knows offered her this and she told me about it and >> so sounds like she's done this in the past. Is that correct? >> I'm not sure. So, she says, "I know a way we can make some money." And how did she explain this plan to you? Like, what were the instructions? What was the goal here? >> She just sounded confident that she knew she could trust this person. >> And why this dealership? >> They just they look for they tell they told us what car took. And that's that's what we've been doing today. We've been trying to find a car. >> Okay. How many other dealerships did you guys go to today? We just tried calling them to see, but they were very pressuring us to do it. And we were frustrated all day because we couldn't find it. And when we finally did, um, she um, >> the longer the questioning continued, the more pressure the woman faced. And considering the value of the car, that pressure only seemed to increase. >> Now you come here, you try to buy this car. You know what the value of this car is? >> Yes. >> Taxes included 100,000. She told us >> it's a very serious felony here in the state. >> 28 and the felony is minimum one year in jail, but you seem like very low on the totem pole here. There's people above you that are more interested people that recruit people like you who need the money. >> Okay. >> And that's who I'm more interested in. Okay. Sounds like you're being honest, but I don't believe I'm getting the full truth here. >> I don't want to I don't want to speak on her behalf. I'm trying to protect her, too. I only speak for myself. That's fine. But also, you should understand that she put you in the situation here. >> I know, but I I I just I believe that I only speak for myself. >> With her? >> Mhm. >> There's a guy with driving the car. What's his deal? Who is he? >> So, he's just a friend I just met. We just met him. We just met him because he was supposed to be our driver. So, we we were not supposed to >> The driver set up by who? Whoever is telling you, instructing you to do this. >> Yes. Did who gave you guys these IDs? >> I didn't pick them up myself. We had to go to a place in Yoners, I think it's called. >> Mhm. >> And we just waited in a parking lot. Somebody came to give it to give it to us, but we didn't know him. >> Okay. >> I can't even remember his face. >> Who's we? You and her. [music] >> Yes. >> Um, how long ago was that? >> Me and and the driver cuz he drives us. He he drove us. No, this was yesterday or Yeah, yesterday. I I can't say exactly the day. Today is Thursday. >> Today is Thursday. I can't say it was during this week. >> So this guy >> these days during the week >> the driver, you've been with him for multiple days. >> We haven't been doing this for >> the woman had no intention of revealing specific details about the other members of the organization, but her own guilt was clear. At that point, the officers informed her of the charges she was facing. >> I want you to really think about the the situation you're in here and you are under arrest. I mean, this is a very serious crime. Yeah. And then now through this investigation, >> how about for possession of fraud on ID, committing fraud, attempted grand lararseny? Oh, you're definitely going to be arrested tonight. Can't make any guarantees. Speak to a little bit more inside. It seems to me like you're the small fish here. People that are calling the scenes, making fake IDs, instructing you how to do this. That's what I'm really interested in because people like you are just looking for me to [ __ ] make money. Am I right? Somebody gets you a quick get-rich scheme and people bite. If we can figure out who these people are with your help, uh, it might help you out. >> Do you have a real idea? >> Excuse me. >> I know. between your friend and the driver and everybody else around. >> Shireen Pauls was charged with felony grand lararseny, felony conspiracy, and felony criminal possession of a forged instrument. [snorts] Trying to make quick money through an organized fraud scheme can quickly turn into serious felony charges. [music] Even if someone claims they were only following instructions, taking part in the crime still leaves them responsible for their own actions. >> Order, you for your son? Just what's going on? You had your hand in the kid's pants. Did you stuff something in his in his pants? >> What did I have? >> On the 17th of August, 2024, police received a report from Marshalls about a woman who had been caught stealing from the store. Even worse, she had not come there alone. When officers approached her, she admitted to everything. >> Hey, Kelly. Officer Rumbler, Brimfield Police. >> So, I understand you got caught stealing. Why were you doing that? Okay. You sign a forer? Are you getting it for your son? Just what's going on? >> I don't know. I just feel stupid talking about it because I feel like no one believes you. >> Well, what's up? Why don't they believe you? What's going on? because I have been caught before taking these things. We literally like to have the things that I mostly my son's at home. They just they had to watch their dad overdose and they're they didn't ask for it. My son was talking about these things he wanted for school and me and his friends and I just saw it and I know my bills at home are like $500 and a half sounds like you're going through a really hard time right now. >> The mother dismissed it as nothing more than a stupid mistake, but the loss prevention team told a different story, proving that her actions had been deliberate. Roshi concealed into her purse, including pair of headphones that she removed some alarm system on that we have. So, we got that back. Some toys that were taken. Um, this had a tag that was removed off of it. And then we have a few other random things that uh some shopping bags. >> Is there anything like else missing that we know about? >> Not that we know. That should account for everything. We can search it first cuz we're not allowed to. That's up to you guys if you want to. >> Kelly, why are we stealing? This is this this isn't something new. >> Yeah, you can stop acting >> because I've given you summons twice. Officer Deal's given you a summon and I believe officer Crosie has as well. So why did we have we not learned our lesson? >> I don't have I don't know. >> No, >> I don't know. >> Do we just not have money or what are we doing? >> No, I don't. I had no business even coming spending the money I had on that stuff. I >> Why do you get your kid out this late anyway? How old is he? >> He's three and a half. >> So is he three or six? That's a big difference. >> Oh, okay. >> Obviously, sweet. So, the only thing she did pay for was the diapers. >> You know, everything there was paid for. Here's the other receipt, but she's been honest with us so far. As far as we know, she trespass. >> Go to the seers for you hair in here or what? >> Besides the theft at this store, police also noticed bags of merchandise from other places, raising suspicions that this was not her first theft. This prompted the officers to ask if they could check her belongings. Here's thing, Kelly. >> I know you stole from here. I know you stole from Walmart. There's a Marshall's receipt in your bag, and I see a Marshall bag on your seat. Is anything from there stolen? >> No. >> Do you mind if I check the receipt up to match? >> Yep. >> There's a car unlocked. >> Yeah. This is all my stuff. >> If not, I know your key was in your purse cuz I put it back in there. >> I like to help. >> All right. Could you just step over here with my partner, please? Just leave it. >> What's that? Just set that back in there for me. Hey, buddy. Can I get in here? >> Grab your toys. Hold on to these guys. Okay. >> It's Spider-Man. >> So, there's a shirt in there. >> Straw. There's something in this. >> Did you check that cigarette pack? >> I did not yet. >> Oh, it's that's dope. Be careful. >> Well, there I already opened it. There was like powder. >> Some type of gray stuff in here. >> It's probably heroin. >> Is that what that is? >> Uh, I don't know. Gray. It's probably some kind of heroin mix. So, be careful. >> Want to take a look at There's three of them. What's >> Well, the his dad just overdosed in front of them not that long ago. He's in I had to drop him off at um a silver living. >> It's not smart at all. And I I think it's a [ __ ] too. It's sitting right in the center. We got a Is this >> I have I I literally I don't I >> Well, here's the here's the rub. It's yours now. Okay. So, you're getting arrested tonight. >> What came out of the pack? >> Cigarettes. I I promise. >> What do you mean? What's in it now? >> Nothing. It's just empty. >> With this new discovery, the case had gone far beyond simple theft. As the situation became more serious, Kelly grew increasingly emotional while sharing a story that seemed aimed at gaining sympathy. >> Everyone makes mistakes. >> I take drug tests all the time. I just dropped him off to living. He just ordered. >> Can you plead that in court? Okay. I know. >> No, you don't. You really don't. >> It's what I do for a living. >> Pretty cool. >> I've seen much worse situations. >> Of course. >> I understand that. >> You told me. >> How long till he gets here? >> How long till he gets here? >> 7 minutes. >> Okay. >> And that's his child's father. >> Mhm. >> Or someone he's safe with this guy. >> Yes. >> Okay. What's his name? >> James. >> Last name. >> Behinger. Would it be cool if I show them the police car and all the lights and stuff? >> Yeah. You want to go see the lights on my car? >> You got a You got a a snooder in the council, three bindles of dope, and a and a pipe in your back pocket and two torches in the car. >> You just took it out of the car when you guys went said you were going to go look in the back. I did. I got scared. I >> It was sitting there. It was sitting there before we even got out here. >> Yeah, I know. That's tape. I literally just >> While waiting for the child's father to arrive, the female suspect was still allowed to remain free to care for her son. However, she soon made a move that caught the officer's attention. >> Hey, Kelly, >> come here real quick. Just ask her. We're not doing it, but you ask. >> So, when we when we were in there, you you had your hand in the kid's pants. Did you stuff something in his in his pants? >> What did I have my hand in his pants? >> You had your whole hand in the kid's pants? >> No, there's absolutely I'm not checking your kid. >> Never do that. All right. >> You got I pull as being right now. >> No, we're not doing that. But it but me and him both saw it. >> And I just want to make sure you're not putting the kid in danger by by doing that. >> Okay. Don't Don't be offended. I got to ask. >> Does a couple of us >> He can take all the groceries >> and you can give him the key to the car if you want. So the car is not sitting up here. Does he have someone he can get to jockey this car back to your house? >> So we don't have to We don't have to tow it. That's fine. We can sit here overnight >> if he can get it out sometime tomorrow. >> Yeah. >> How you doing, sir? Good. >> Thanks for coming out. >> Come here, buddy. Hey, your daddy's here. >> I already got it. >> Hey, can you uh We're going to let the car sit here, not tow it. >> Can you If she gives you the key, >> I'll get it taken care of. >> Okay. If it's got to sit overnight, that's fine. >> I'll get it moved tomorrow. >> Okay, perfect. >> And then we're going to let you You take all that's all the stuff she paid for. Okay. So, if you want to take get all that loaded up in that car, I don't know if there's anything refrigerated. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I'll take it to the house. >> Okay. And as soon as you you take off, we'll do what we got to do here. >> All right. >> What, buddy? >> Bye. >> Hold on. >> You said you did get his stuff. >> Yeah. >> Okay. You don't have >> No, I was all the folds. All the folds that were >> How many times do I tell you? How many times we need to? >> This nothing you don't that I'm not already aware of. >> Kelly was charged with endangering children, possessing criminal tools, possession of controlled substances, and theft. A [snorts] difficult situation does not excuse repeated criminal behavior, or putting a child in danger. Once additional evidence is discovered, attempts to gain sympathy cannot erase the consequences of those choices.
