Yet, she didn't seem to care about her wrongdoing at all. >> Can I just pay for the bag? >> How much is the bag? >> It doesn't matter. I'll pay for it. >> It's $3,000. >> Okay, let me pay for it, too. >> Anything else in here that's not paid for? >> Pay for this. >> That's my sister. >> I promise you. >> Yeah. Go ahead and leave. I bought that from >> And staff said she had every chance to return the items and walk away earlier, but she chose not to. >> And not only that, when I first asked you for it back, you didn't want to give it back to me. like I was stupid. I did give you your stuff back and I asked everybody else if they have something to give you back. >> You're not going any warrants or anything, are you? >> No. >> You sure? >> But I have Victoria cases that way. >> Okay. What's your other cases? I have um Can't you just look it up? >> I can't, but I'm just asking you. Where's your other cases? >> I um I have a murder charge. >> Oh, okay. Go to jail for a murder charge. >> I don't give a [ __ ] about your previous history. >> Uh how much is the bag? >> 80. Okay. There's your information if you guys need that. And just so you know, uh, you're going to be trespassed from JC Penney. >> Come back. >> 147 parking lot. Okay. >> At this moment, once everything was confirmed, her criminal history and the fact she was going to jail today, the woman instantly switched direction and tried to pin the blame on her sister. >> Like I said, you can look on her cameras that my sister handed me that. She told me to hold it. Yeah. Just ask your sister. Do you have a phone? Do you have your phone with you or your sister? And ask her if it's stolen cuz I'm going to go back and review tape. If it is, I'll just take it back and return it and we won't go any further with it. >> But if I have to go back and review the to find out it's stolen. >> Is this your correct answer? >> That don't have nothing to do with me. >> You're carrying it. So, I'm asking I'm I'm being very cool. If it's stolen, just tell me. I'll return it. We won't. >> I don't know, though. That's why I'm telling you to call your sister in here. >> Call your sister. I'm give you a chance. If it's stolen, then I'll just return it. But if I have to go back and watch the video, unfortunately, you have it with you. >> Okay. >> I don't want to go petty. So, I'm giving you a chance. >> Can you just I don't give a what you do with it. >> I'm not going to do that because if it's paid for, I can't do that. What >> she say? Yep. >> He said before get here, he can hold up. You can disregard. >> She saying it's paid for. >> I don't think it's paid for. >> You don't think so? >> Not going to give my life with no goddamn thing. >> Is it paid for or not? Just you tell me your answer and I'll take so >> I just figured I'd offer go upstairs. You're not free to go yet. >> As she was led to the patrol car, the woman finally admitted a bit of what she'd done. But the real reason behind her actions was what truly shocked everyone. >> You want to talk about what we did today? >> I apologize. >> You came in. Did you come in here with us empty? >> No, I go ahead. Sorry. >> It's not extra. >> Awesome. Thank you. >> Yeah. >> You're welcome. >> So, you came in here with this bag? >> Yeah. >> What was that? Inside your purse in there. >> What's your receipt in here? >> Okay. >> Is that what old girl was carrying over there? She had two pairs of shoes. >> Yeah. >> You know, you didn't have a bag. >> So, why'd you steal the purse? >> Come on. Why you got to do that? >> I'm asking you a question. Why'd you take the purse? >> We were just doing some [ __ ] Lord, I have more than enough money for the purse. You want to see my bank account? I actually missed that. >> Can you write her an NCTA real quick for retail theft under? >> You got the money to pay for it. Why? >> I told you if you came here in court was bored just bored. Don't be stupid. >> Now you got a case. >> Let me ask you this. For a girl that's been arrested for murder like you told me. >> You think you want to be doing that's against the law. Correct. >> Do I ever want to know what the murder was? I'm kind of interested what happened there >> off the record. >> Um, allegedly it was a big old fight. A girl end up passing away and they point to >> the woman was charged with petty theft and trespassed from the property. Blaming others, denying responsibility, or waiting until the last minute never makes the situation better. Owning up early is the only way to avoid turning a small mistake into something far worse. This woman cared more about the ants than about her guilt. >> I can't breathe. >> I got ants on me. Can you get them off? They're biting me. >> Say what? >> It's fire ants on me. They're biting me. >> On July 25th, 2023, police responded to a theft call at a shopping mall and the suspect identified as Tahira fled the scene immediately afterward. This prompted officers to give chase without delay. And what followed were the events that unfolded right after. >> Getting her into custody now. >> My phone. >> I got my ambulance. >> Tell you to go running off. Stand up. Put your hands off. >> I can't. >> Yeah, you can. >> Put your feet up. >> I can't breathe. >> No. Stay right there and breathe. >> I can't breathe. >> I can't breathe. >> I can't breathe. >> I can't breathe. I can't breathe. Galleria. >> I can't breathe. >> All right. >> I need an ambulance. >> No, you don't. >> I got asthma, Ruben. >> Okay. Stop saying you can't breathe in that breathe. >> Get them in. Well, let me get up. >> Get up. >> They biting me. >> Get up. >> That's what happen when you get some exercise in. They burn. >> I can't pick up. >> I'm not about to pick you up. >> There you go. Make sure everything's secure. >> According to the report, she already had prior records for disorderly conduct, obstruction of police, [music] and drug possession. So, her actions to interfere with officers were considered experienced. Can you get it off me, please? >> It's fine. >> I just saw you in there. That's why I took you in the car, >> huh? >> You're under arrest. >> 32. >> Wait, do we got her identified yet? >> Who cares? Who's in the car? >> What did I do? >> Never say no games. I need to inhale this and stuff for real. >> You got water. >> Hey. >> I need water. I can't breathe. I'm shut up. >> Nobody got no water. You shouldn't run from the police. >> Slide in. >> I can't breathe. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Slide in. >> What? Please, I can't breathe. >> Slide inside. Roll the windows now. >> Her attitude showed no sign of guilt at all, and she had no intention of complying with the officer's commands. >> Go ahead and pull her in for me. >> You don't got to breaking out and hide. You don't see it. >> I don't care. We need to get out of the street. Slide in. Nobody tell you to run across the damn mall and in the street like an animal. We good. >> Good running. You You want to ride back? >> Yeah. Hey, you just got to get in the back like a per, >> bro. I don't know why. >> Good job, buddy. >> We just ran like five, six circles around Costco parking lot. >> Good job. >> Do you got my phone? >> Somebody got it. >> I We're talking misdemeanor theft right now. >> Guess you got obstruction, >> sir. Something is biting me, babe. >> You already know what's biting you. >> Uh, I cannot. I'm driving at the moment. >> Yeah. Can you go to the Costco side? >> I sure will. >> I think she was trying to distract me from everybody else. >> Why y'all chasing me? Why y'all ain't chasing my sister? >> There's three of them, but I bet the other two are gone. >> You got your cardio in for today, man. >> Dude, something is biting me. Yeah, man. >> Ah, >> 1080 yesterday where I [ __ ] up my back and shoulder, too. >> Oh, no. >> Ah, damn. >> Obstruction. >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. >> Stop lifting. >> She clearly did not care about what had happened. Even after arriving at the police station, she continued to cause trouble for officers using her personal excuses. >> What? >> I got ants on me. Can you get them off? They're biting me. >> Say what? >> It's fire ants on me. They biting me here. >> Fire ants on me. They bit me. >> Yeah. Look at my legs. I swear. Look, >> she landed in this man. >> Please, can you get mom? >> I don't know. Look at my leg. Huh? >> Yeah. [ __ ] >> Can you just wipe me off? Wipe me. >> Stand up. >> I >> I got to see where they at. Stand up. >> Look at my head. Ow. She's biting the out of me. 3211 39 call for this address for a female saying that she needs help from this. >> Can you get a female officer y'all touching me? I feel sexually harassed. Can you please get a female officer? Nothing. >> And you ask me to wipe the damn ass off of you. >> I'm not talking about you. >> So I don't know what else you talking about then. >> Her request for a female officer showed that she was already far too familiar with this process and she showed no embarrassment at all when bringing up the incident again. I You see my spit is dry. I need >> you just ran a mile. >> You chose to run. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Your mouth going to be dry. >> You chose to run for whatever reason. >> I don't know. I seen >> It's not our job. It's not our job to carry water for people that decide. >> Well, that's ridiculous. >> I got beat up by police. >> What's the rest of that story? I don't know. I bet I can figure it out. >> You got about 30 more seconds. Okay. Then you're going to sit in the back of my car. >> Going to get some information. We're going to talk to them all and you're going to leave to the jail. Okay. >> To what jail? >> Cow County. >> Cow County. Jail. >> Oh no. For what? >> Obstruction. Maybe felony or misdemeanor shoplifting. We'll see what we got you on video with. >> What? Um you don't see me with anything. >> Oh yeah, I did. >> You didn't? >> Oh yeah. >> You didn't? Okay. >> What the f? >> Okay, perfect. You just said you didn't have anything. So, you're also going to get um lying to me under investigation. So, you want to keep lying to me when I was seeing something in my hand. >> I can't feel the air. >> That's tough. All the way to the right. I'll run down the window for you. >> Can you put my phone in my shoes? >> You got a phone? >> Yeah. >> Okay. The woman was charged with shoplifting and obstruction of law enforcement. Running from the police and refusing to cooperate only turned a minor offense into a much more serious situation. Even worse, the woman seemed to believe that stealing was something she had the right to do. >> I don't know why, but I have a feeling Apple Pay is not going to work. >> And Porsche, thank you very much for making yourself viral cuz you get fired for real. For real. The police received a call from a woman at Publix reporting that she had been assaulted by the staff there, leaving the officers completely confused. But things seemed to shift in another direction when they arrived on scene. Let this manager explain what had happened more clearly. >> Good morning. >> Like 10 things up for soup. >> Oh, put her hand in every box of chicken that we had. So, we hadn't. >> She didn't have any money to pay for any of that. >> Go get her. So if she can't pay for the soup, we like to press charges because she ate it all. >> Oh, hey guys. I'm leaving right now. I just But after I paid for the food, of course. >> You going to pay for the food? >> Yeah, but they won't charge my phone any Apple Pay because the other ones that went to sav you guys, remember? >> No. >> No. >> There's a thousand of us. >> Oh, the ones at Colonial Bad Boy. No. Okay. Well, what I >> is that I was paying for this with Apple Pay and I didn't know my phone was dead and I have the money to pay for it. And they were like, I hate broke fat ass white and they were they're harassing me. It's all over the surveillance. I promise you. And then this one right here glasses. >> So, ma'am, are you saying you need your phone charged right now? Is that what you're telling me? >> So, if you charge your phone, you're going to pay. >> What kind of phone do you got? >> Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max >> 17th edition. What was that talking about? >> It seemed the story shifted from suspect to victim through the woman's own words. She said she was ready to pay if she could charge her phone, but her solution was completely flawed. >> You like the phone charger? >> 600. >> You buy the triple C for me and then I'll trade you some C for it. Which one are you buying for me? >> I'm not buying anything for you. >> Oh, I get to buy the charger and then >> No, you get No. No. >> Did they have a charger? >> They're going to loan you a charger temporarily to charge your phone hopefully. >> They said no. They said they said you're going to 33rd. And I was like, "What? How do you know about 33rd? Did I see you in there?" And she was like, "Yeah, catch me outside." [ __ ] And I was like, "What?" Okay. >> All right. >> Who is the charger back then? >> Take her. What does taker mean? I'm going to pay for it. You can't take me to 30. >> No, I did not. >> We have to give her an opportunity to play. >> We got to try otherwise that's not going to fly with state attorney. >> We have to give an opportunity all the time. That's why I got a class action lawsuit against already. >> I have a feeling it's not going to end up working out. So, but we got to we got to try. >> Pull up. Pull up. Pull up. Why did she take my phone? >> Why? >> How are you supposed to charge it? >> She said to charge it. I want her DNA on my phone. >> What am I going to do if I have her DNA on my phone and she steals the phone from me and I walked out right now and she knows >> you said that you want to get your phone charged so you can pay for the stuff you just ate. >> You said she lied to you on camera on your accident. Said there's no charges. that she said. >> It was clear the woman's mindset was completely problematic, especially since she refused to let anyone touch her phone. Yet, she had no issue plunging her hands into the soup. The officers even saw more products she had opened with no intention of using >> the chips, too. >> $3. All of that. >> You opened every single one of these. >> She put her hand in every single one of these boxes. >> No, that she opened that one. >> All these open. >> Some of them are not. I'll tell you what, the ones that are not open, we'll just get rid of them. the one that she has opened and touched something. We'll just get a charter for those. >> What's your first name? >> Some YouTuber and it's um >> What's your What's your first name? >> Dy Dasty. Dy Dasty. >> Uh how many more things of soup? >> How many things of soup total? >> I think it's going to be like eight things of soup. >> What's your date of birth, Dynasty Robertson? >> It's 21946. >> So, ma'am, just confirm that you do have the money on your account to pay for it. >> I sure do. Yes. >> Okay. But I can't see it right now until the charge comes up. >> Okay. How much is it? >> Hold on. It looks like it's probably going to be over $100. >> Oh, over $100. That's great. >> Okay. As long as you $100, that's fine. >> Yeah, but they they were acting like it was going to be $500,000. Like, >> no, I don't I don't think the the bills generally go up that high. >> You never told me they harassed me until you guys got back. Said it was going to pay and then for me to charge until you got here. >> Roberson R O B E R S O N. >> That's correct. >> Where are you from? >> I'm from the kingdom. What state is that? >> Guyana. G U I A M A. >> How long have you been in the United States? >> Um, um, I can be deported at any time, so I've only been here for about 2 weeks. >> Her story kept growing more circular, and those very statements made the officer suspicious about her real identity. >> You don't have an accent. That's interesting. >> Wow. Isn't that how it is for wife, too? >> Usually that's how long I let go. >> Oh, really? You've been to Guyana before? >> No, but I know Gy people. >> Oh, you know Gy people, but you have not been to Guyana? I'm not going to >> just >> see they always do this. That's why I'm trespassed off like 90% of Orlando because they always think that I'm not going to pay for stuff. Do I look like a broke [ __ ] to you? Like, you know what I mean? >> So, what year did you say you were born? >> Um, and would you like to pause, rewind, and then play again because this is all recording on your axon where I went. >> So, you said 1946, I believe. >> Yeah. So, why did you ask? So, because I don't think that's accurate cuz that would put you at like 70 years old. >> No, it would put me at 77, actually. >> Okay. Are you 77 years old? >> That's why I have silver hair. See, you think a 21-year-old girl would have silver hair like this? >> Oh, you look great for your age. >> Oh, thank you so much. >> The whole counter was filled with silos. >> She was just ladling out. >> Yeah. And she kept going. I'm like, well, at this point, we have to say something to her cuz we can't keep letting her filled up. So then when she asked her, she was saying that she'll feed the homeless with a $25,000 check that she got me on stock. So I'm like, man, if you pay on a check, I can't take a check for that amount. She's like, I never said that. >> I'm paying with cash. >> I don't know why, but I have a feeling Apple Pay is not going to work. That's just my professional opinion. Um, >> and she just thought, oh, if I touched it, you can't sell it and just open every boxes of the other boxes. >> So, okay. So, she consumed something out of each one of these boxes, though. Okay. Okay. >> That soup aisle had turned into her own little homemaking game, and she was seen chatting and laughing with other customers as if she had done nothing wrong. And now it was time to see whether she could actually pay like she claimed. >> Turn around. Here we go. >> All right, we got just enough juice. Let's pull up this apple peg. >> What happened? It came up. >> Yeah. >> I told you I have apple p. Well, you have a rung >> up being charged up. >> Come on. Let's go. Let's back up here. We're going to pay. >> Okay. >> If you want to go to one of these fine individuals >> and I'm pretty sure they can ring you out and we'll get you and get you the food since you paid for it now. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Turn. Turn. Turn it. No. Otherwise. Keep going. No. No. Other way. Oh, >> there you go. >> Oh, okay. >> Are you able to walk, ma'am? >> No. >> How did you make it into the store? >> I I barely knew it came. >> A [ __ ] >> All right. Go that. >> No. No. Other way. Other way. Other way. >> Where's the beer? You guys follow me? >> Oh my god. >> Where did you see? >> Which one are we going to be using? Now she's starting to sound like us. >> Right here. Right here. >> Right here. >> Right there. Yeah. 19265. Is that what you said? He said 192. >> Yep. That's exactly what I said. 195. All right. Let's try and see. I'm not clear. >> Deli department line. >> So, if you're having trouble Oh. Oh, you got Oh. Oh, >> I'm sorry. What was that? >> Hold on. Please wait. Please wait. >> I'll throw that. >> Oh my goodness. Let's try another one. Don't worry. Don't worry. >> If you want to use a combination, that's also allowed. Is it okay if I pull it? >> After all the delays at the checkout counter, the result turned out exactly as the officers had predicted. And based on her own story, it seemed this was not her first time. >> You're going to be see the next person in line. >> And then the funny thing is I would like not pay for it and they would still keep all the food. You wouldn't give me the food. So they win. No, actually if you pay for it, it is yours right now. >> Said is if for some reason >> But right now they're doubting that you have the ability to pay for if it doesn't go through for some reason, they get to keep the food and charge me. That's what they do all the time. They did they have feed the other night. They did Uber all the time. I have class action lawsuits all over the city. And I know more OPD than you know OPD. And you know this thing. >> All right. Who wants to write the statement? to think she got hungry better than >> How about we try another card because I don't think that one's going to work. >> This is not your card. So, you want to know how many times you have to swipe until it actually works. It's part of the uh what's it called? That encryption that I built into it because I did cyber security. Okay. So, I know once I hit 17, it's about to right now. only hit 17 times. It will accept >> total victory to the Bible. Hello. >> Oh, >> yeah. >> Can't argue with that. >> So, after Apple Pay failed, she pulled out her card to pay. Something she could have done from the very beginning. But the real shock was that the number of cards didn't stop at just one. >> Oh, approved. There we go. Approved. So, >> how about that? >> Oh, so that took $50 off. >> 43. >> Oh, yeah. >> All right. Now, we can get uh another 142. >> We'll try the Apple Pay again. Now, it's less. Maybe the Apple Pay will take a little more. >> I think that card's going to be depleted, so we can try another card. >> I don't know. People are people live right now. So, they're live adding stuff to my cash app. That's why it's gonna say not offer if you want to hit 17 since they're watching you live and on your eyes because you guys are parking too obviously got off the track here. >> No, you cannot hold on to that one. We had one car with $50 and we had another car for $4. >> Really? >> So, we're getting >> we're getting there. >> The Medicaid card. >> All right, let's skip the Medicaid card. >> That's Try the uh >> social. >> No cash back. >> Oh, yeah. There's no way to get another one. From Apple Pay to credit cards to a medical card and even EBT, she pulled out everything. Yet none of it had enough funds. The woman had kept everyone waiting far too long. And to put an end to the stalling, the officers decided to act. >> We've satisfied this law. >> Stand up. We know you. Stand up. >> I can't. No. No. No. You can't do this. Let me get my cane at least. Please. >> Well, Kane's going to come with you. Come on. But we'll help you. We will be your >> Let me get my ABA. ABA. >> Okay. All right. All right. All right. >> Just give me a second. I got to get off this. My ass is so fat. >> Let's go. >> Oh, you do that. >> Oh no. >> 911 911 after call 411. >> Is there an emergency shuttle for this? >> 1800. No going to 33rd. Who's got my bail money on? It's for 13793 and they took off 50 and they're going to keep all the money and you're going to get free food. My iPhone. This is how it goes. And Latia and Porsche, thank you very much for making yourself viral cuz you get fired for real. For real. Tell officer Ar what's up. Call her. I'm on the way. Here I come. >> Get. >> I can't wait to get locked up. I'll grab the gun cuz I'm 7:30 official. I'm crazy. >> Fine, man. Let's go. >> Marie Cakes with an S85 on Snapchat. 6,000 subscribers. Suck my dick. >> Yeah, man. Come on. There's kids in here. >> I don't care. Them kids. >> Okay. >> Hide your kids. Hide your wives. This is what we call this. How [singing] we do it on Sunday night. Free chicken for everyone. >> In the end, she was charged with pettit theft and misuse of 911. Acting careless, turning herself into the victim, and wasting everyone's time only made things worse. If she had taken responsibility from the start, she could have avoided all of it. Next, she stole as if she had the right to do so. >> I'm not running. I'm not doing anything. You don't have to do all >> I can get a citation. I will come to court. I cannot go to jail. >> On June 19th, 2023, police received a call from a local store reporting suspected theft involving two women. Upon arriving at the scene, both had fled outside but were intercepted by officers. trying to figure out here. >> I don't feel comfortable doing that. And you get what I'm saying? >> There's too much story. Too many stories going on. >> Okay, I got it. We'll make the real simple. >> We'll find out. We'll find out which which one of them it is, which female they say it is. And then that's the one we're going to deal with. We let the other one go to ask them which female. All right. Which one was it? >> It was the one with the light green shirt with the denim short. She has the lighter brown purse. >> Copy that. >> Green. Huh? Green shirt and the denim shorts. Okay. >> I'm just trying to figure out why they're lying. Why is two different stories going on? Y'all not going to talk to them at all? >> Yeah, we are. >> So, what they say? >> All right. I'm just asking. >> So they think she had to do with you. >> I mean at the end of the day that's wrong though. >> Yeah. There are two different things going on. You come here and you just honestly say >> you come here. >> Well, I'm not I'm not running. I'm not doing anything. You don't have to do all this. You got to go and cuss. >> Both women denied the accusations and appeared confused by the officer's actions. On the way to the office, she continuously voiced her complaints. How am I going to eat this paper? I want to y'all to talk to this man right here. >> Parker, I'm going to park the car real quick. I'll be right with you. Okay. >> So, all personal property goes away from them. You think of AK-47? Yeah. That way we don't know. >> You think of AK4. >> So you do you stand around for Go find out. >> Do you have your ID on you? >> This is the first day or something. >> No, I don't. >> No ID. Okay. What's your name? >> Mar? >> Yeah. ID? >> Yeah. Why do you need my ID? I thought y'all were asking what we're going to what happened. I'm going to ask a lot of questions here and like >> we don't have time for these ladies. >> I know. I'm just saying like y'all can just >> No, I'm not trying >> I'm really not trying to argue sit there and relax and go with the program. He's going to ask you some questions. He's going to do a bunch of stuff you might not get. We'll answer your questions, but you might not have time for it, but you're going to take the time. So, you don't have a choice. What's your first name? >> Those were the repeated warnings from the officers in response to her continuous resistance. Shortly after, the police began questioning their personal information. Pay close attention to their attitudes. >> What's your first name? >> What's your first name? >> That's a cool name. >> And how do you spell that? >> S E U. >> O. And your last name? >> Mley. >> Mley. >> Mley. >> Mley. Okay. How do you spell that? Yeah, y'all got here and all y'all. >> Hey, what's your middle name? >> What do you >> I have to put you in the system for >> Okay, cuz right now I have to identify you because you're being investigated for shoplifting. Okay. So, you're going to be documented in our in our thing. >> So, can I just ask this question? >> Okay. >> Are y'all trying to arrest me? You're not charging >> right now. We're just investigating >> charging me with something. I'm just asking. >> We We're not there yet. >> I have to have to figure that out. Okay. >> I just need to know. So I because I don't reside here. >> You don't reside here? >> No. Where do you know that? >> Okay. Where do you reside in North Carolina? I don't >> North Carolina. Okay. >> Do you have an emergency contact? >> Me? Why? >> So we can call somebody just in case something bad happens. >> What's bad going to happen? >> I don't know. It could be a lot of things. >> Me. >> Are you? Okay. What's your name? Erica. >> Erica. >> Mhm. >> How do you spell that? >> E R I a >> Erica. >> Daniel. >> At this point, after reviewing the surveillance footage of the woman in the green shirt, each officer began to uncover exactly what she had done. >> So, what we got is the one in the green that was closest to you. Um, they caught her on camera putting a dress inside a bag. >> Okay. um attempting her her purse or her bag whatever and then attempting to walk out. They made out they made out past the front door. >> So they did walk out. >> Yes. >> I'm sorry. Excuse me. >> Then they were able to stop him. They first the one that was further away said that she had nothing she even said she had nothing to do with it. Um and then finally like he's like no like we caught you. We saw you take it. And then finally, that's when the rest turn back in. So the other one's not being detained right now. >> They're both until we can verify that she had nothing to do with it. >> So you guys footage of the other person on question. >> Okay. So we're still investigating. You got to go in here. >> Sorry. >> I'm going to continue getting their information for the tree and all the information, phone numbers, everything you can get. I'm going to get that and then whatever else you need. >> It didn't stop there. Shortly after, the officers discovered that the information she had previously provided was unreliable. >> We have no record of either both of these names are fake or we can search for an ID. Whenever we can identify that this person is possibly fake outside the inside. >> Okay. So you guys were on the outside of the store. You didn't pay for the dress. >> I didn't hear you. >> Yeah. I'm sorry. You hear me? >> They were in our store. They didn't pay for the dress. >> Nothing wrong. >> So you were outside of the store. >> So unprofessional. Y'all >> go ahead cuz we got to hear this. Let me talk. Let me talk. You were outside of the store and the security guard came to you and you told the security guard. He stopped you. You said, "Hey, give back your dress. If you give it back, then we will not call." Right. Exactly. Exactly. And then we said, "We'll just pay for it." He said, "No." He said, "Um, all right. Come in." So, we're like, "Okay, we'll just pay for it." I was like, "So, are you going?" He was like, "You're lying." And I'm like, "She doesn't know." You know what I'm saying? So, I asked him. I was like, "So, are we walking to the register to pay for the dress?" And he said, "Yes." Next thing you know, standing outside was standing out there and then they were and then we were standing out there trying to figure out what was going on. So I walked back in the store with them to go pay for the dress and they start talking about going upstairs and I'm like to the register. >> Yeah. And I'm asking why go upstairs if I'm going to pay for it. You get what I'm saying? What's upstairs? I like why can't I just pay for it right here? >> And as soon as we went to the register, he talking about um so I the dress is right there as you see. And I would we dress there. Yes. >> Okay. >> So, in her own story, she inadvertently revealed that she had indeed taken the items without paying. Yet, now she portrayed herself as the victim. The officers immediately clarified that her actions were wrong. >> So, you are you are more than old enough to understand that you cannot walk out of a store with nothing paid for. >> Okay. Yes, I understand that. >> Okay. So, for me, that is the end of the discussion. It is a crime. >> So, what was the point of doing all of this extra stuff? >> What extra stuff? We have to get >> You talking about y'all got to get >> Yeah. You talking about y'all going to figure out what y'all knew what was going on. You should have just said that. >> Stop. If you ask me a question, I'm going to answer it again. I told you I'm going to shut up and stop answering your questions if you keep over talking. Okay. So, we met you all in the parking lot. There's >> Stop. There's absolutely no way for us to know in the parking lot what's going on. So, we do have to figure it out. We've got to talk to y'all. We've got to talk to the store and figure out what's going on before we make a decision. We're not just going to stop you, place you in handcuffs, which is why I stopped him from doing it out in the road. >> We've got to understand what's going on. Now that we do, you are going to jail for >> this situation is so messy. Like, how is this even holding right now? >> Clearly, all the confusion stemmed from her initial lack of cooperation. At this point, the officers also received the items she had returned to the store after being caught. >> The calls methylate them. >> Maybe some cough medicine. >> Was that? >> Yes. >> Okay. Bravo. You copy Jersey number. >> Let me help you. >> No, no, I got this. You said seminal seminal county. >> Yep. >> Okay. I'm on my way. I guess I'm going have to wait. about some like a nice range over there. >> She was charged with retail theft. This serves as a reminder that admitting mistakes early and cooperating with authorities helps resolve situations quickly and transparently. Next, this woman risked her entire future just to get by. I've >> been stealing from the Dollar Tree. >> What exactly have you been stealing? >> Cuz I don't want to go to jail. And I'm not that kind of person. >> On May 7th, 2025, police responded to a report about a woman, Britney Zelinka, who worked as an assistant manager at a Dollar Tree store and had been shoplifting at her own workplace. Here's what happened next when they arrived at the scene. >> So, what's going on with this female from the she was cash voice and return to the system. >> Okay. >> She was interviewed by post on the phone. She had medical. >> Okay. She's in the office right now. >> Just a dollar a dollar. Oh yeah. >> And I I think the best thing for her is to go outside, go through the system and say what she has to say because she can get the help. >> She's in the office right now. >> Just cut the water back and it turned out real good. Hello. Hello. >> I'm Deputy Tali with the sheriff's office. What's your name? >> Britney. >> Britney. >> The suspect appeared with a deeply remorseful expression. And at that moment, she began to admit her actions, revealing that she had been stealing not only merchandise. >> I've been stealing from the Dollar Tree. What exactly have you been stealing? >> Merchandise and >> merchandise and money. >> Have to read this to you because you know I have to cuz I got to ask you some specific questions. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you can. Yes, >> I am. >> Miss Britney, you advise concealing money and merchandise. Has has this been an overtime process? >> I said the last two months. >> So, for the past two weeks, you've been >> two months. >> Two months. I'm sorry, I'm hard of hearing with this radio on my ear. Um, so for the past two months, you've been taking money in merchandise. How would you go about taking the money? >> Um, post voids. >> Post voids. >> Post voids. Okay. Can you explain post voids to me? I'm not entirely sure what that is. >> Where someone would check out and get all their stuff and then they would pay for it and I would just go back and void it. >> So you would void the transaction and take the cash amount that they gave to the register and take that money for yourself. >> She only appeared remorseful because she was caught as in reality she had no idea of the total value of what she had taken while committing her wrongdoing. >> How much do you think you've taken as someone's value wise? $1,500 worth of merchandise >> just in merchandise >> maybe 700 >> $700 in merchandise that's just a rough estimate you don't give me approximate and you think you've taken $1,500 in cash >> or you've known you've taken $1,500 in cash >> um I think I've taken like I don't know how much in cash If you had to rough guess, what do you think? >> Like 600. >> So 600 in cash, about $700 in merchandise, about $1,300 stolen. >> So the question arises, what was the reason behind her actions? >> What's the reason behind it? >> Um, I was staying at this hotel and they were getting pushy with needing stuff and I felt like I had to What do you mean needing stuff? >> Like they need cleaning stuff. The people next to us always needed food. >> And I didn't know what to do. >> They were just very aggressive people. >> Was it the the hotel staff or the people that were living with you in the hotel? >> It was the hotel staff and the people in the room next to us. >> When you say us, it was someone else that was living with you at the time. Who was living with you the other time? >> My husband. Michael. >> Your husband. Are you still married to Michael? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, the stuff stealing stems upon the demand of the hotel staff wanting us. >> Yes. And we left the hotel and I'm willing to pay everything back. >> Yeah. >> Cuz I don't want to go to jail cuz I'm not that kind of person. We can understand that everyone faces difficulties in life. But due to her actions, the store manager made a decision on behalf of the store. Just want to defer it again. You want to press charges against her? Okay. Mr. Williams, can you explain why I'm here today? >> We're here because uh the associate written uh assistant manager uh did some post boys fraud post boys and returns plus take merchandise from the store. that it came out to an amount of 1500 uh that he can see and she admitted to >> um I know that is more but we cannot do nothing about that. >> Okay. Um and now explain post voids coming. >> Post boys is a system that we have through a registered data if the customer do not want it or the customer says I need to go to the car and get the money. >> Mhm. >> It stays there that can cancel the transaction and the merchandise will stay in the building. Okay. In the viewing that we had done, we can see that the post boys are being done with the customer leaving with the merchandise. >> Okay. So, a customer's paying >> even though it's paying it gets voided and then somehow the cash disappears. >> That's correct. >> Okay. So, and Britney was an assistant manager here and she was committed these post voids besides her admittance. Is there any identification number employee number that links her to these posts? >> Only her ID number. her ID number which is >> associated with dollar store that is given to her when she gets hired. >> That's correct. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Um when did you first started noticing that? >> I got a phone call from Ranger to investigate it Sunday. >> Shortly after she was escorted to the patrol car for arrest and a phone call to a family member was allowed. >> What's his name? >> Michael. >> Michael. Okay. >> Hey, is this Michael? >> Swing your feet. Hey, this is Deputy Tobacy with County Sheriff's Office. Hey, so here's what's going on with wife. She is going to jail um because she is being arrested for two felonies, which is one scheme of the fraud and grand theft due to the fact that over a systematic period of time over the course of a month, she has accumulated over $1,000 worth of money and merchandise. So, and a dollar tree. So, she is going to jail today. Um I'll get you there in a second. I just want to explain everything to you. Um, she'll see a judge at 9:00 a.m. in the morning and she'll have a perspect for a second. >> Hello. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Get in and out of this. for $20. >> Finally, the woman was charged with grand theft and felony organized scheme to defraud. Even personal hardships do not justify theft, and such behavior carries serious consequences enforced by management and law enforcement. Next, this grandmother shocked the officers with what she had on her. >> Don't conceal anything. I just don't >> What do you call that in the bags? I don't want that. >> Well, you have a felony probation violation warrant. Thank you. On February 25th, 2023, police received a call from Walmart about a 41-year-old woman suspected of shoplifting. When officers arrived, the situation turned darker. Her young family members were wandering around unattended. >> I think she's concealing right now. >> Okay. >> What aisle, she's over in the stationary. Is that you? No. Hold your Yep. Uh, looks like we're heading to your side of the store. >> Hi, sweetheart. Are you having fun? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Can I have you? >> Unfortunately, I don't have my car with me. I drove with the other guy. >> Next time though, if we see you next time, we'll get you a sticker. Okay. How you doing? >> Hey, >> let's uh let's put your hands right here. >> Look, listen to me. Listen to me. >> Why? For what? >> Hush and listen to me. >> We have two officers on each door. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Quit pulling away from me before I take you down. >> Why? I wasn't feeling anything. >> Well, we're not. You have a warrant. How about that? >> No, I don't have a concern. >> You have a warrant. How about that? >> Don't conceal anything. I just >> Clearly, the officers explained she was being arrested for other reasons. Yet, she kept insisting she hadn't hidden anything. Her denial came off completely absurd, as if she was startled by her own guilt. >> I was stealing anything cuz I didn't steal anything. >> Well, we'll deal with that in a second. >> Okay. Quit moving. >> Sorry. I'm sorry. That's crazy. 21 since 10:26. >> We're going to ban her since she has a history. >> We'll deal with that in a second. >> You do? Yep. Felony probation warrant. >> Don't have nothing to do with that. Don't know anything about that. >> That's just on the computer. >> And the sheriff aren't going to confirm it. >> Well, we haven't confirmed it yet. We just see it. We'll have to confirm it. >> Oh, okay. That's cool. So, you got to confirm it. >> We do. >> Okay. All day all day. >> So prevention ended in November then >> and if you confirmed it then we >> we'll go from there. >> At this point while taking her to the loss prevention room, the officers searched the woman's bag and what they found next shocked them. >> That might be my son. I'm not sure. >> Who's your son? >> Tyrese or my daughter be That's my daughter's love. It's my daughter. Oh, you got my pop's ID. That's my daddy. >> Why do you have his ID in your purse? >> Um, I just I don't know. I keep it. >> Just keeps everybody I got in my grandkids. My kids are here somewhere. Oh yeah, that's fine. >> Who you here with? >> Um my my kids are somewhere around here. My nieces are here and my grandkids, they're somewhere around here. >> Oh, there's some in there. >> You might find some. I mean, it's all burn. Might find some in in there. So, we are uh >> going to police tomorrow. >> Oh, that's why that's why we couldn't find. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, it's at PD. >> PD. We're going to go. >> Yeah, there's back in there. I'm just waiting on a um test kit from Hickey. >> Might have >> I don't know if it's enough to test. >> You want me to grab a test kit? >> Uh Higgy's going to look and see if he has one. >> Okay. I have it all in my car. >> My trunk. >> Where'd you leave the car? >> We're going to fleet. >> Hey, do you know if uh >> you know if this one will be felony or she's found me >> 21 cent. Go ahead and run a criminal history. >> Okay. >> Yay. >> What we thinking is test. >> She said she doesn't. >> Apparently you got more warrants coming too. Apparently, you ran from officers at Dollar Tree last week or you ran ran from a shop looking at Dollar Tree or they got you on camera. >> No, >> I'm just telling you what Detective Franco says >> at Dollar Tree. >> That's what it says. >> Dollar Tree. >> Once again, not my monkey, not my circus. >> Dollar Tree. I don't know where the Dollar Tree is. >> Okay, >> that's a store in here. Not me. >> You want to? >> Additionally, as the officers had explained during her detention, the woman actually had an active warrant on her record. Let's see how she reacted when she heard this. >> Apparently, you got more warrants coming, too. Apparently, you ran from officers at Dollar Tree last week or you ran ran from a shop looking at Dollar Tree or they got you on camera? >> No. >> I'm just telling you what Detective Franco says. >> At Dollar Tree. >> That's what it says. >> Yeah, I said Dollar Tree. >> Once again, not my monkey. Not my circus. >> Dollar Tree. >> Oh, okay. >> That's a store >> in here. >> Not me. >> How much you want to? >> You have a knife. Grab a knife. We can chuck you up. >> A couple little. >> You know what? No. I thought that was like a good knife. >> Is there like a little piece? >> There's a tiny little blue piece right there. >> Tiny piece. in that little corner. >> Oh, that was a big piece. >> That's a big piece. And then there's a little piece right there. >> Who's your uh granddaughter or niece's name that we need to page and have come get the stuff? >> Um okay, >> what? Oh, it's good. >> Keep popping. >> That is bright blue. >> And last but not least Oh, yeah. There we go. There is no denying that. >> That's his bag. >> A drug test kit. >> This woman radiated guilt from every action. Yet she showed no shame at all. Or perhaps she thought it was so normal that she couldn't even remember today's theft. >> Yeah, it's all >> okay. He can just put >> We're not arguing with you. I brought in with me though. >> Okay, stop talking. You're done. >> I can talk. Where's the stuff I brought in with me? >> She didn't bring anything on. I've been watching you. I've been watching you conceal. She >> said she watched me come in with stuff, too. >> She said she didn't say that. >> I came in. >> Like I said, we're done talking. >> You see that? You got more problems than worrying about me. >> We're done. We're not doing >> Stop wearing shirts like that, too. It gives them a bad name. >> There you [laughter] go. They're saying you didn't. >> They said you didn't. You didn't look at the cameras though and they said you didn't. >> I don't care what she says. She's lying. >> We're done. Okay. We're going to go under the jail. >> Stuff I came in with stuff that I've already bought. I was going to return. >> Most people return stuff when they first come in stores. >> So, let's do this. See, let's go ahead. Y'all squirt out. >> Hey, y'all want have y'all filled out the barn form? for you form. >> Uh Beth, can you do a barring on her since she's already got a history? >> I came in a long ral and did it myself. >> Even the illegal substances the officers found in her bag were completely erased from her memory as she spun a full story to justify herself. No, I'm a drug addict. Wow. >> I'm sure each one of y'all and y'all's family members have came across someone addicted to drugs. >> My brother died from drugs. >> Yeah, I got >> you have a like mine's actually damaged like crap stuff like that. >> I think they were I got here then they should see. >> Yeah, I got I plan on getting the RV a break nerd. >> [laughter] >> They made no nerd culture cool and we just dove in. >> Do what? >> Did you loosen this one? >> Turn around for me. >> Say what's get two fingers up under. Yeah, they're in the center of my car. They're both as equal as they can be. >> Before you go, she's got to explain this to you. Okay. >> So, for a period of two years, you're from our property at 4375 Lexington Road. That's anything up from the old Hardies all the way over to Queen Street. >> Okay. I started on the show. >> He's related to a Scott star. >> Scott star. >> No. >> No. My last name. >> I mean, my mystical. Oh, Scott. Oh, wow. I haven't. >> You got a joke. >> I was going to throw that out. >> We got the other. >> Y'all have it on video of her being in here. >> Can you please loosen this? >> It's as it can be to get. Just two fingers under. It can't go any lower. Right. >> The woman was arrested and charged with shoplifting and possession of illegal substances with her existing warrants also taken into account. Denying wrongdoing and ignoring the consequences only makes the situation worse. Cooperating and taking responsibility is the only way to protect yourself and avoid more serious trouble. Before we met the next thief, let's witness this queen of chaos. >> Are you going to leave the store like you've been requested? >> No, I didn't request that. Sir, wait. What? No. >> GET OFF ME. YOU'RE DEAD. MOM, [screaming] I CAN'T BREATHE. >> ON September 25th, 20125, officers rushed to Walmart after reports of a woman causing a disturbance over a faulty phone she claimed couldn't be replaced. But when they arrived, the staff revealed the truth. The problem had always come from her side. >> So, she's claiming the her name is Joseph. She came in here. her phone being frozen on the screen. So, I took the SIM out, put in one of the demo phones to see about send a text from our tablet to see if I can search her in the system. It wasn't recognizing the SIM, so it couldn't send a message. So, I took SIM out and put it back in her phone. I tried power and cycling the phone cuz it's frozen. It wouldn't get past that part like it powered down and went back to the same thing. Now, she's saying that she had two SIMs, but the thing is the phone only takes one SIM. It has a micro SD slot, but there was no micro SD slot. >> So, you guys wanting her trespass out of here, or do you want me to help me? He had a conversation with her back. >> He keeps explaining, but she keeps getting at this point. We want her trespass. Yes. >> Okay. Do you want to come? Can you let her know that >> this point is saying, you know, that why would he take it? >> Yeah. Like, what's the point of that? While she's explain >> the staff believed she had been affected by something that left her mentally unsettled and when officers approached her everything became even clearer. >> Explain the situation right to the police. Yeah. >> Good. >> Okay. And >> there's there's five scenarios to >> I understand what we we already told you that you know the associate already told you that he hasn't any SIM card or anything like that but you don't want to understand that. Let me lead you, lady. Okay. >> So, >> may I >> What? What are you trying to show me? >> What? What is it you're trying to show me? >> Can I speak to you? >> I We can talk right here. I'm not going to go walking all over the store talking to you. >> I'm I'm asking in private. >> What's What's the issue you're having? >> Um, okay. The issue >> Take a few steps back. >> I don't need you standing that close to me. What's going on? >> That's That's the link that is known. Okay, >> what is going on? >> I know military. >> Okay, >> but anyway, >> yes, >> the fact is that I came here to get my phone replaced was actually um 2 days ago and they refused to do it. They said there was a problem with the person that sold the phone to me, which is a corporation. It doesn't matter. So, I bring the phone back again. I had a SIM card in it, of course, that was supplied. And then I put a memory SD in it. The SD all of a sudden went missing. Then I'm asking for service and then but hold up. The whole problem is somebody else on my phone which they won't regulate. Where's all the four others? >> The story unfolded exactly as the staff had warned, but in an even more tangled chaotic way. So even after hearing her version, the officers stayed firm. Their decision had already been made. All I'm letting you know is that what's going on here is not resolving anything. >> So because of the disturbance you're causing at the store, he's going to ask you to leave >> and the only way you can resolve this complaint. >> Yes, you have. >> I'm asking them. I have. >> Um and the main person I was speaking to, he didn't shake his head. >> He's not represent to the store that he does. >> Yeah. You can't be raising your voice. >> I'm not raising my voice. You see >> almost behaving. So, we're going to ask you politely. >> We already told you. We already explained to you that he doesn't have anything. >> No, they said they could look it up. Um, actually, Derma, where is he at? >> Talk about Daryl. >> Yes. May I see him, please? >> Does Daryl have something? >> Yes. He said no. He said he was going to help me. >> The whole thing is >> But what's going to happen is what I've explained is you're going to have to get in touch with his corporate office and you're going to have to file a complaint directly with them. There's no point in resol arguing. It's not going to resolve anything. >> May I speak? >> Can you please get Daryl? >> We don't need Daryl to come here. You've been asked to leave and you need to leave. >> If you want to speak with anyone else, you can call in on the phone and ask to speak with him. >> Okay. >> May I speak with Daryl, please? >> She ignored the officers and kept acting like the always right customer, forcing the officer to warn her clearly that her behavior was about to create a much bigger problem for herself. >> Waiting for him is not an option. You can get your stuff and you can go cuz he's asking you to leave. You've been trespassing. I need a phone, please. May I use a phone before I leave? Thank you. >> No, you you've been asked to leave. They're not going to supply you a phone. >> With all due respect, >> what? >> Okay. Are you going to get your stuff and leave? >> Am I going to leave? >> Yes, cuz you have to leave. You do not need a phone. No one. They're not required to provide you a phone. >> Oh, absolutely required. Yes, absolutely. That's the phone you came with warranty. >> Okay. Then you have to handle that through the corporate office. No, I don't. You're not going to handle it. >> This is the office I go to. >> Okay. Are you going to leave the store? Yes or no? >> Can I call the company? >> Dermont, >> like the officer said, >> "Can I speak to Dermont?" Thank you, Andrew. >> If you're waiting for him, that's not what's going to happen. >> Andrew, thank you, Andrew. May I speak to Derma? >> Are you going to leave the store like you've been requested? >> No, I didn't request that. >> Remember that answer and then watch her excuses spill out right after. Excuses that showed her refusal was the very reason she ended up being restrained by the officers. >> Sir, wait. What? No. >> No. What are you doing? Put your hands behind. I'm leaving. I told you. No, sir. I'm leaving. >> Said no. Stop. >> No. I said I'm right here. They just stay right here. I'm going to end up cuffing you on the ground. Is that what you want? >> Can I please? >> No. No. Stop. Just like you are, >> sir. I am. But listen. >> No, >> sir. I'm leaving. No, I'm not going to come. >> Stop resisting and stand still. >> Sir, you understand me? Just >> too late. You've been asked to leave several. I'm going to >> sir. >> Sir, >> what are you doing to me? I didn't do nothing. I'm asking you to >> resisting your arm behind your back. >> Behind your back right there. >> Help me ask you. Ask me to come. Oh, you guys are crazy. >> Come on. Behind your back right now. >> You guys are crazy. You better help me. Eric, come here. Eric. 911. 911. Please help me. [laughter] You better get off me. You're going to get in trouble. More of you. All of you. I swear to God, I didn't do nothing. GET OFF ME. [screaming] GET OFF ME. GET OFF ME. I WILL LIFT YOU. [screaming] HELP. GET OFF ME. MOM. STOP. >> Get off me. GET OFF ME. GET OFF ME. >> NO, BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING TO TRY TO RUN OFF IF I MOVE. >> I'M [screaming] GET OFF ME. >> Her instability exploded in the clearest way. One moment she was cursing at the officers and the next she was screaming like she was the victim of the whole incident. Get off me. YOU'RE MOM. I CAN'T BREATHE. [screaming] MOM, I CAN'T BREATHE. You're hurting me. Mama hurting me. >> Stop. Stop grabbing me. >> Help me up. I can't breathe. Mama, >> no pressure on your chest or your back. You can breathe just fine. >> IT'S ON MY BACK. I HAVE A FER. GET HIM OFF ME. >> STOP KICKING MY LEG AWAY. >> GET OFF ME. >> STOP. >> GET HIM OFF ME. GET OFF ME. >> Hold on. Stay where you are. >> Get off me. YOU'RE MOM. [screaming] I CAN'T BREATHE. MOM, I CAN'T BREATHE. You're [screaming] mama. You're me. >> Stop. Stop grabbing me. Help me up. I can't breathe. Mama, >> there's no pressure on your chest or your back. You can leave JUST >> ON MY BACK. I HAVE TO GET HIM OFF ME. [screaming] >> STOP KICKING MY LEG AWAY. >> GET HIM OFF ME. >> STOP. >> GET HIM OFF ME. GET OFF ME. >> Hold on. Stay where you are. >> During the escort to the car, she still [music] had no intention of stopping. Her screams trailed after her with every single step. >> I need my stop. Hand me my stuff. Yet, none of this swayed the officers or hindered the investigation. >> You got ID? I tell you, I know my name. I'm so scared. Picture my home. I'm homeless, bro. You can call You can ask my mom Raphael Matthews. >> Write it down. What's your birthday? November 1st, 1994. >> They're person behind me. If somebody gives you a name and it don't come back, chances are either you're you're lying to us or you were brought here by you you're unidentified flying object last night. >> The situation didn't need to drag on this long, but the man's deception complicated matters, ultimately adding more charges against him. >> But you add charges when you do dumb [ __ ] like that. But that's like you going to get a want. You going to have you don't Okay. You don't know how that would have turned. He probably could have just said, "Okay, it was minor. Let you go. You got to sit back and relax right now. >> I ate nothing all night. >> Okay, that's understandable. You shouldn't have done what you're doing. >> I know. I understand. I ain't I'm not Bro, you have yourself. >> The man was charged with shoplifting and providing false information to law enforcement. Trying to deceive authorities only worsens the situation. On June 20th, 2025, police responded to a hospital report about an employee stealing from patients. When they arrived, they immediately approached her as she left the parking lot. Completely shocked by the police presence and immediately became defensive, clearly afraid of being caught. Viewing the footage the officer mentioned, it showed her caring for a patient, then carefully looking around to see if anyone was watching. In a swift motion, she snatched the watch from the patient's wrist and hurriedly stuffed it into her pocket. At this point, realizing she could no longer hide it, she reluctantly consented to the officer's search, her expression full of unwillingoing. It was as if this were just a game to her or some act she believed she was performing. Yet, she displayed none. So, the question remains, why would she steal when she already had a job like that? Thief had the audacity to commit a crime and even the boldness to argue face to face with the police. Yet, sadly, she showed no responsibility for the consequence. She was charged with theft. Committing crimes and then denying responsibility only worsens the situation. Taking accountability early and cooperating with authorities is essential to prevent further consequences. Next, let's watch Target's meticulous plan to catch the suspect unfold. >> So, $26,000 total. Let me go to yesterday. >> Please don't do this. >> Turn around for me. Anything that's going to stick me? >> No. On June 23rd, 2023, police were dispatched to Target after receiving a report that an employee had stolen cash and gift cards from the store. Let's hear the store manager's detailed account of the incident. >> Um, actually, okay. So, she's going to walk by the front here. Is it possible to pull the cars around the side of the building so she doesn't see? >> Sure. Sure. Sure. Sure. >> Yeah. >> Hi. >> Hey, they want us to pull the vehicles inside cuz >> Good morning. Individual's not aware yet. Let's do it. >> Good morning. >> They want us to pull the vehicles on the side cuz the individual's not aware yet. Okay, >> this is live. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> So, what is she supposed to be doing? >> So, what she's supposed to be doing is she processes the save. She writes it all down on this little piece of paper and then she's supposed to go through each one of these bags individually and then put all the money from the bag inside of this machine. She should have no money on her whatsoever. >> Okay. >> No money comes out of that that that office. >> Okay. >> What does she How have y'all caught her? What have y'all seen? >> Yes. So here we can go in my office. I can give you so. >> So the suspect had no idea she had been caught. Shortly after the loss prevention staff had gathered both the evidence and direct observations of her actions. >> So we have obviously we'll have all the evidence and everything ran out for you. But essentially, while she's doing the cash office process, she is um filtering like she's pulling the high bills from those bags, >> putting them and keeping them in a bag, rolling that bag up, concealing it into a cardboard box, and then when she's done with the cash office process, bringing that box to the restroom, emptying it on her person somewhere, and then throwing that empty box away. So, yesterday we did a full review of everything. Um, and we even like pulled the trash. It's bagged and tagged up there. Um, so we can confirm that she left with cash and emptied it in the bathroom. Um, but she's been doing this. We only have video retention for 30 days. So in the last 30 days, >> $26,000 of her. is the overview of that for all >> location. >> But this is the live one, but I can show you. >> Does she know? >> She does. Um, but this is a covert camera. So, we put a smoke detector above the ceiling with a camera in it. >> So, we had >> So, she doesn't have a camera. >> We had this view. >> Okay. And so like the way she's moving her hands, um it was pretty. >> You've got footage of her actually like pulling the bills out and >> so yeah, yesterday we made a camera move. So we can confirm over the last 30 days that she's doing this with this camera, but then yesterday's and today's will definitively. >> So you just this camera is new? >> Yes, we put it up there. So this has only been here for 24 hours now. Um but we have video of her doing this on each occasion. So, $26,000 total. >> On the surveillance cameras, they watched in real time what the female suspect was doing while she had absolutely no idea she was being monitored. >> You worked really hard for that one. >> God, you got to do it in like slowmo. Yeah. Here you go. You don't even need it in slowmo where the camera's at. Got it. >> Does she notice cameras there? >> Nope. It's a co It's like in a fake fire detector. >> There goes that box. stuff away, baby. Stuff away. So, this is it. This is it for the for the rest of it. So, she's got it. Yeah. She only does one bag now. >> So, she learned go through all the bags in the beginning. So, she opens every bag when she starts and pulls it and then stuffs one. But yeah, so she's done for this until she walks out. >> Yeah. Get my stuff into Chris's office. >> Um, >> if you want to grab There's a gift card. So, I got a gift card, a Starbucks gift card yesterday, the sales floor when I was walking. Um, I [snorts] already have it bookmarked, too. She took it out of the lock box at the service desk. Tried to add it to her phone and just threw it in the trash. >> Where is it? It's up front at the service desk in the trash. >> In the trash? >> Yeah. Here, I can show you. >> What does it look take a picture of it? >> It's bold. >> So, she just did it. She just rolled it up just now. >> She did. >> Yeah. So, where did she put the It's [snorts] on her purse. >> Does she like what her car? >> So, she does sheer. So, we do have her. >> While monitoring the situation, the LP employee also gave a few observations about how she intended to use the money after her actions >> because she's the HR, so she donates a lot. So, you're going to have to watch that part. Does a lot of volunteer stuff and donates to Nassau. That's right. >> Um the little police dog >> is here all the time with the handler woman all the time. >> That's s her. >> Mhm. [clears throat] Um Lucas Dugan. [clears throat] >> Mhm. >> Used to work here. [snorts] >> Knows her. >> Knows her. Who? >> Doug. Again. >> Mhm. >> So does uh Captain Tank. >> Captain Tank. So, just [snorts] so y'all know, she knows. So, >> then she should know better. >> Yep. >> That whole name dropping business doesn't work. >> Yeah. So, cuz Lucas was here and she >> I don't much care who you know. I don't care if you told me you're the sheriff's daughter. >> She should know better. >> Yep. Um Ash, so Lindsay is going to have to be prepared to call her to the office. I told Lindsay to to sit in Starbucks um to like walk her out of the cash office and then like let her go to the bathroom and then sit in Starbucks. That way she throws it away before she sees Lindsay >> and then Lindsay can just swoop up and grab her for TSC cuz she's going to think this is all part of a going away party for her. >> We had to cancel a cake. >> Look, today is like the best thing ever. It appeared that the woman was not wellliked by anyone there to the point that even the manager commented on it. >> She's [ __ ] crazy. >> Are you serious? >> She's literally I've never I'm like a pretty good person. >> I hate her with every [ __ ] she quit. Today's her last day. She's with my assistant. >> She hates me. >> I'm a pretty solid person. >> All right. everyone. >> I never >> whenever I have to like coach her like performance manager, >> she immediately yells, stands up yells like, "Can you sit down, please?" and like tries to bolt to the door like no >> just this is evident at something like a computer >> like what are they going to do >> just piss somebody off >> the employees were even excited to help bring the case to a close and not long after the suspect was officially arrested >> we came in through the front door >> I'm I like to walk back out way I came in >> Yep I'm Hey, make an example. >> I don't give a [ __ ] who's in the office right now. Then >> I'm saying make an example. >> Got his body on. >> I love all of you. I feel like I bonded really quickly with everyone. >> Like you said, >> so [clears throat] you stand up for me. Please don't >> turn around for me. You got anything going? >> No. >> Turn around for now. >> Turn around, please. >> Turn around for me, please. >> I can't believe this is happening. >> It will be hard. This hurts. Just let me know. Okay. >> Is that too tight? >> I don't know. >> Give me one more set. supposed the watch >> on stick. >> Please don't do this. >> Turn around for me. You got anything on me that's going to stick me? >> No. Turn around for me. >> Turn around, please. >> Turn around for me, please. >> This side. >> I can't believe this is happening. being detained. >> Finally, the woman was charged with theft. Abusing trust for personal gain may work briefly, but evidence always catches up, and the consequences are far more costly than the reward. Next up, the assistant manager's supervisor also brought her to tears of remorse. >> Like, I'm a good a good woman. I I really fell in some bad times and I made the worst [ __ ] decision of my life. On October 3rd in Florida, police arrived at the scene after receiving a report from Dollar General about a theft of up to $5,000. The suspect was believed to be the assistant manager who had been secretly stealing money over several months. Here's what happened next. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Where is she at? >> She's in the office. She has you're coming. I stepped out to call you guys. She's already It's um 4,900. It's right sitting under $5,000 worth of >> money. She's admitted to it. We already have a statement. >> Do you already have her statement? >> We already have a wet statement and a reimbursement form and everything. We get all that before we call you guys. >> Okay. So, um, have y'all have y'all reported the the money missing in the past? >> No. We did. That's what we're doing today. We came to investigate it. We found it today. She admitted to us policy to call you guys day of [clears throat] >> And y'all do y'all are missing that much money? >> Yes, she's already confirmed it. We have it. She took >> She she confirmed it. >> Yes, she >> What I'm asking is does someone confirm the deposit? >> My loss prevention is an office. >> Okay. That's why that's why I was making sure I was like >> I'm the district manager, so we that's what we're doing today. We get all the investigation, do all the hard work before you guys get here. >> Okay. >> So, she's already wrapped up in above. >> Okay. Let me go ahead and uh call my sergeant real quick and then I'll just uh I'll I'll meet you back. Oh, >> well, it's in the front. I was just walking around. >> Shortly afterward, the police also approached the suspect. >> Hello. Hey, Miss Whitney. >> Hey. How are you? >> I'm fine. Deputy May with the sheriff's office. >> Um, so I'm I'm here because of >> Well, obviously I'm pretty sure you know why I'm here. Okay. So, um, do you need to talk to her anymore? Are you all done? I can talk to her now. And >> Okay. All right. >> Well, I'm going to read you a couple things. I'm going to read you something real quick. Okay. >> All right. Cuz right now, I'm starting my investigation. Okay. based off of what they've told me and what you've told them and stuff like that. I don't want to start asking you a bunch of questions >> and you not know your rights. Okay. So, >> um, so Miss Whitney, you have the right to remain silent. Okay. Knowing your rights, do you want to talk to me, too? >> So, >> I'm sorry, I can't hear you. >> So, so that's a yes. >> Yes. >> Okay. Here, I'm going to What I'm going to do, can you can you spin the chair that way I can see your face? I'm sorry. >> Although she had admitted to the crime, the woman lacked the courage to face the consequences. When asked to turn and face the police, tears began to fall. >> All right, Miss Whitney. Um, so tell me what's going on. Why? Why am I Why am I here? >> Made a bad choice. Okay. What What choice was that? looking for help. I tried to go through the store. >> You tried to get your own help. Is that what you were saying? Like with So tell me how you did that. Tell me what happened. >> Um, pretty much I had a situation. I had a bill that had to be paid for that to >> Okay. I've been trying to pay it back a little bit by a little bit, but I didn't know >> what you mind what I asked. What bill? >> Um, I had some medical bills. Some >> medical bills and stuff and just everything on top of house bills that I had really fell on some hard times and I didn't know what. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Under personal financial pressure, the woman sacrificed her highranking position. Shortly after, she was also questioned about how many times she had carried out the theft >> that you can remember. >> It's been a minute. I think that's why it's been taking so long. >> Okay. >> Have you taken it over time or just like one like >> like one one deposit or like how did that work? >> It was it was like [clears throat] probably like once or twice. So now here I am trying to put the deposits back like they know. >> Mhm. >> And [clears throat] >> so let me ask you this. How how much did you take in total that you remember it? >> Um he's saying there's 496850. >> Does that sound about correct as far as like how much you took? >> I mean it would have to be. >> Yeah because you took you took that much. >> Okay. Was it like you said once or twice? Um, >> I mean, for me to just have two You know what I'm saying? >> Yeah. Two deposit. Yeah, I know. Sometimes the store makes you you drop it after so much. Yeah, I I get that. I used to run Subway a long time ago, so I know how the deposits and stuff work like daily or or hourly or whatever. Um, okay. So, you say when was the first time you took it? Just give me an estimate if if you can't remember a specific day. I mean this >> I'm just I probably wouldn't really but I started getting sick a couple of months ago. So >> the woman affirmed that she had tried to return the money but could not recall how many times she had done so. In addition, she was asked how exactly she carried out her actions. >> How did you do it if you don't mind my asking? How did you take the money as far as >> I mean I just took it out the store. >> Okay. Are are you like a key holder or something like that where you have access to the deposit? >> Yes, sir. So, you took so you took the money, you took it out of the store. Um, and then obviously you took it with you or whatever. Okay. >> But pretty much all I've been doing now is just trying to balance the deposits out until I got the money back paid. You know what I'm saying? >> Okay. >> And apparently, you know, it caught up. >> So, they caught So, they caught it and they >> Okay. All righty. Um Okay. Have you ever done anything like this before? Not I was lazy. I'm a good >> a good woman. I I really fell in some bad times and I made the worst decision of my life. And if I would have known I'd be where I was, I swear to God I would have done that [ __ ] like I have kids and stuff. >> Okay. Do you have your ID on you anywhere or? >> No, sir. Everything is okay. What? I'll just go ahead and get your name and date of birth and stuff like that real quick. >> The woman appeared remorseful, viewing the stolen money merely as an advance she intended to repay. She continued to use this reasoning to insist that she was not a bad person. >> All right. >> Like I was still in the process of of of paying it back. You know, it's nothing I would have done. >> Okay. And I heard that you might have you you might still have some of the money or is that or is that just your money that you're trying to pay back? >> No, I um I still have a little bit of the money. >> You still have a little Where is that at? Over at the house. >> Um actually, yes, it is. >> It is at the house or it's not here with you anywhere like in your car or whatever? >> Not here. Uh at the house in the bag or it could be in my van. I have to >> in your van. Is your van here? >> It is. Okay. Would you give me consent to look for it? That way I can find it. Uh >> um >> yeah. >> Okay. All right. We'll we'll do that here in a moment. It's too hot for me to go outside and sit there and come back for this that whatever. Okay. So, we'll get this done here first and then um you have your keys on you. Is that your purse or is that someone? >> So, that's just my keys are actually on. >> At this point, the police allowed her to make a call to her family. Overwhelmed with emotion, the officers had to work to keep the situation under control. >> Mom, I don't know. I don't even know if I'll get a bond. >> I I don't think so. Not today anyway because of the amount. Um, but you can Don't quote me on that cuz I'm not a booking specialist. the booking specialists up there, they whatever you're getting charged with as far as the statute goes, they have a a a worksheet that tells them if it's a first appearance or if it's going to be But I believe it's a first appearance uh charge. >> I have to go to court first. >> Well, it's not court. [laughter] That card, that EVT card is in there. Um, just go ahead. Reggie gonna have to know. They going to get ready to take me. >> The woman was charged with felony grand theft. Her attempts to justify the theft as a temporary advance show how people can rationalize wrongdoing. Even trusted positions come with responsibility, and deception has serious consequences. >> I've done the best. Um, my my attendance is spectacular. I'm always here. I can't help them. Really? You're going to embarrass me in front of all of my >> On April 4th, 2024, police responded to a Home Depot after an employee was reported for exploiting her position to steal $5,700 worth of merchandise over 6 months. She claims she does that she agrees that it happened because I did my homework but she doesn't remember any of it. >> Okay. So, uh, the interesting thing is the other associate that she passed merchandise to works for that customer. Okay. Part time. >> So, but she claimed she didn't know that either. >> She was telling me that uh, whoever this customer is, corporate's going to be, >> we'll we'll go after her as well. Yeah. >> All right. >> Uh, she actually owns an animal hospital fairly close to here. I'm assuming that's where all the flooring is in an animal hospital. But >> um >> so that's what we've been taking is >> flooring paint and then it's uh the most recent one March 9th was a DeWalt table saw >> and some tile. So she's obviously renovating something. I don't know if it's a I didn't go to the clinic. I don't know if it's a clinic or a house or I have no idea. Uh she also apparently works for something with the school board part time. So, she made >> she's [music] making great choices. >> Based on the man's account, the woman had a completely separate job to earn money and the suspected theft was for her personal use. At that moment, police approached her while she had no idea they had been called. >> Hey, hi Elena. Right. >> Yes. >> Hey, I'm Officer Branch of the Palm Bay Police Department. You know, I'm talking to you. >> Excuse me. >> Do you know why I'm speaking with you today? >> No. >> Okay. So, um I know that you were just terminated from Home Depot. They ended up calling us. uh in regard to what has been going on. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um and basically I would just like to to ask you if you'd like to speak with us. >> Okay. Okay. So basically they would like to pursue charges um on this. So I'm just going to read you your Miranda warning. >> Okay. >> Okay. If you want to get more comfortable and set your stuff down, you absolutely can. Um but I'll just read you your Miranda warning and then we can go from there. Okay. You can read them to >> just that I have my diabetic um monitor on my phone and >> totally totally understand that. I'm not going to and I just need um What time is it? Cuz my >> uh right now it's about 12:24. >> Oh, I'm okay till 1. >> All right. Yeah, you just let me know. >> Okay. >> Uh do you have automatic um pump or anything? >> No, it's in my bag. >> Okay. >> In reality, she was fully aware of her wrongdoing while dealing with the store internally. Yet the woman who had diabetes and a soda in hand showed no shame at all. Even though the amount stolen was substantial >> in regard in regard to this. I mean is reportedly about $5700. >> That's what they're saying. >> Okay. Well, tell me tell me your side. >> I can't recall their name. He named some person, random person that I have no knowledge of and he says that it was ongoing and it was only that particular customer, never anyone else. >> Okay. Before um I keep asking you some questions, do you mind getting your driver's license out and I can hold your phone for you? >> No. >> As far as you know the things that you're saying you don't call, did they explain to you? Did they explain to you the the method that you were using to attain certain? >> Yeah, but they're only showing me one customer. I mean, they're pertaining to one particular person that I've been supposedly doing this with, but I have no recollection of who they are. >> Okay. What was the method that they were saying that you were using? >> Um, scanning three items and not the rest. Um, letting things walk out the door. I >> okay >> I don't have that practice with anybody. So >> you don't have that what >> practice with anybody else supposedly out of all the thousands of scans that I've done. >> Right. >> It's just this one particular person. >> Okay. >> And I don't recollect that person. >> When you say you don't recollect that person, this one person has been involved >> supposedly >> multiple times. >> Multiple times on this um supposedly that I've let go, not rung up. >> Uhhuh. >> Or, you know, let things go by. >> There was still no remorse in her story [music] as if the man she mentioned was the real suspect behind the incident. While she herself showed no concern despite fully knowing it was a crime. >> Um, and you know, what they are reporting is, you know, quite the theft. I mean, that's a that's a felony level. >> Yes. How long have you been employed with >> 5 years? >> 5 years. Mhm. >> Have you been in trouble for anything like this before? >> No, I worked for a doctor for 15 years and he retired recently back in 2019. >> You worked for who again? >> A doctor. I was working for a doctor. He was an eye surgeon. He retired and I came to work here. >> So 5 years. How long have you lived in Palm Bay? uh about 20. Yeah. >> Do you have any any friends that are currently doing a remodeling? >> No. And my house doesn't need Well, my house needs remodeling, but I haven't uh started any procedure on that yet. >> Okay. >> So, why do you believe that they are saying that you're doing this? >> I have no idea. Okay. If I were to give you a name of someone who supposedly has all of these items, would you tell me if >> I know them? >> Mhm. >> Sure. >> What's the name of the person? >> No, I don't know what it that's the name he gave me in there as well. I don't know. Never. >> The woman's calm demeanor appeared very cooperative with the police investigation, but it also raised concerns, prompting the officers to comment on it. You just seem kind of like nonchalant about it. I would be very upset if I was in your position. >> A lot because you It's like, you know, I'm I I only work here part time and, you know, I've done the best. Um my my attendance is spectacular. I'm always here and I'm they call me, I work, you know, so if this is the way they want to look at something, I mean, I can't help them. to everything that they have to go through this because I work for the school board as well. And um I tutor >> children, you know, so I'm going to have to just clear my name because they wanted me to come on board full-time. >> Yeah. >> And I can't do that now with this. So I don't know what to say. >> Yeah. Well, I don't want you to make up anything. I mean, if it's not if it's not true, it's not true. However, based on the things that we have, of course, like we have to we have to take the next step. So, they would like to pursue charges. So, you are going to be in custody >> um for that. >> Do you have any further questions for her right now? >> Not right now. I don't know. >> So, regarding the events, she believed that the ones who should feel shame were her co-workers, not herself. And her own sense of embarrassment only appeared when the police began to handcuff her. >> Can we do it outside? So, I'm going to walk right alongside you. >> I know you've been super respectful, but this is just our policy. Okay. So, I am going to cut you and it's going to be in the front. >> Really? You're going to embarrass me in front of all of my >> I'm not I'm not going to embarrass you. >> Okay. >> Um I'm just So, you want to do it in the front? I'm just doing I have to I have to do this. Okay. Thank you. kept super like that. Okay. 268. Can you show one thing now in custody? >> Make sure that my keys are held up on the Yep, they are. >> Oh, okay. Just making sure because I left them off on the side. The woman was arrested and charged with one felony count of grand theft with a total validated loss to Home Depot of 5,700 to28.1. Failing to acknowledge wrongdoing and showing no remorse only worsens the situation. Taking responsibility and cooperating with authorities is the only way to protect oneself and avoid more serious consequences. Next, let's look at the next woman whose only [music] existence revolves around lies. >> Call a lawyer. I want a lawyer. Call me a lawyer, please. Over a me. >> You're hurting me. >> On May 23rd, 2022, police responded to a call at Walmart about a theft committed by a woman. When officers arrived, she was still arguing with staff, insisting it had been a simple mistake. >> The vacuum was not showing up. >> I know. I rang up the wrong vacuum. Remember? Did you do you have the other one with you right now? >> They're both They were both on clearance. Ma'am, do you have your license on you? >> Yes. Can I have it? >> This is ridiculous. I rang up the wrong vacuum. An unintentional mistake. I just spent $250 for $20. This is ridiculous. >> Okay, so what? Because you're being trespassed. >> Okay, that's beautiful. That's beautiful. >> Where do you work at? I don't work. I'm disabled. >> What were the items that weren't pitchforks? >> Where were you born? >> What? Where were you born? You mean where? >> Where at? What state? >> I'll be right back. >> No, actually, hang on. All right. Can I see that video one more time? And you're not pretty. Oh my god, dude. >> I can't do this. I don't understand. I have a kid waiting for me. This I just spent $250. I didn't do this intentionally. I don't work here. I don't know how this works. I rang up the wrong vacuum. Oh my god. >> 421. >> My mom works here. Like I'm going to steal from the place my mom [ __ ] work. >> Her attitude clearly showed complete non-ooperation. And faced with the current allegations, she continued to insist on her innocence, escalating the tension of the situation. >> No, he's lying about that. I That's that. >> Well, we're gonna ask you, >> I can't do this. >> What's her name? >> My kid is >> Where's your kid up? Paula. All right. >> I have done nothing. >> Wait, give me a second. >> Paula's come right back here. I'm just going to read your ear right here. >> Going anywhere. >> Okay. >> Don't touch me, please. Please don't put your hands on me. >> I'm calling. What are you talkinging? Stop resisting. >> This is all on video. I'm not resisting. Stop dancing. >> Okay. Call a lawyer. I want a lawyer. Call me a lawyer, please. >> Somebody call me a lawyer. I can't believe this is happening, you guys. I can't believe this is happening. This was a accident. Are you kidding me right now? >> Stop turning towards us. >> You're not listening to me. >> We tried to talk to you. You just walk away. >> I didn't. I didn't. I tried to call a lawyer and I have that right. >> Yeah. At the jail. Not right now. >> So now we're not >> I can't go to jail. >> Well, you're going now. >> I I can't. You know, I'm just saying. I can't. I have a child at home. >> Who's with your child? >> He doesn't have a father. He's dead. I don't. >> So, who's with your child now? >> My mother. >> Okay. Well, he's I'm >> I can't do this. I can't. The woman employed numerous tactics, claiming disability, concern for her mother and child, and now portraying herself as a victim while being escorted by police. >> I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS ARE DOING THIS TO ME. Do you see this? >> Do you see this? Over an accident. Over a accident. >> You're hurting me. >> Stand up straight. >> I HAVE A BAD BACK. I'M NOT EVEN JOKING. I WAS JUST IN AN ACCIDENT. Would you please stop? You're hurting me. I'M NOT JOKING. STOP. YOU'REING HURTING ME BADLY. >> You don't understand. I am disabled. >> You're just kidding. I'm not kidding. You're hurting me so bad. [laughter] >> Can you open that door? >> No. I've never BEEN IN JAIL BEFORE. PLEASE DON'T do this to me. Please. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. I promise you I didn't. Please stop. I can't believe you're making me do this and making me feel like this. It was a [ __ ] accident. I swear to God. Why would I spend $250? Please. Please. >> Stand up here. Face the car. Spread your feet. >> I can't move. >> Spread your feet the best of your ability. I got it. >> Oh my god. I was willing to give it back. I was willing to pay for it. It was a accident. I don't work here. I rang up the wrong item. >> You didn't ring up multiple items. You just start back. Stop talking for a minute. You want to know what's happening? I will tell you. Don't interrupt me, though. I'm not going to talk to you if you interrupt me. Okay? So, it's time to listen. >> I didn't. >> Okay. You're literally on camera stuffing clothes in the bags >> at the register >> without scanning them. You scanned. You paid. You didn't do that. You I scanned them on the um >> as I went. It was an accident. >> Not hand by hand like that. Absolutely not. >> An accident. >> If it were truly an accident, the situation wouldn't have spiraled into chaos had she not deliberately tried to evade responsibility. Even in the patrol car, her victim act became even more pronounced. >> Can't breathe. I really can't breathe. I'm not joking. >> Why can't you breathe? >> I can't breathe cuz I'm having an anxiety attack. I'm not joking. >> You think I'm kidding? I'm not kidding. Please [laughter] take a few deep breaths. >> Just breathe. >> I can't breathe. >> Okay. >> I can't I'm not joking. Please help me. >> Please help me. Oh my god. I need MY MOM. I NEED MY MOM. >> WHAT? >> Stop screaming. The more you scream, the worse. You You're not going to breathe. >> Understand. >> Okay. >> This is You don't understand. [laughter] You don't understand. You don't understand. >> You don't understand. >> Take a few deep breaths. If there is a god, please help. >> We get called here because you were stuffing clothes into a bag without scanning them. Okay. >> It I sc I thought I scanned him on my phone. I sc It was an accident. >> If it was like one piece, I can understand. You're stuffing handfuls. >> No, it was two bathing suits and I thought that it I it was scanned on my phone. I can see I thought that it was on there. >> I didn't scan it on the register. I did the phone scan thing. >> Yeah, but you didn't do that with those. I didn't know. I didn't. I swear to God it was a $10 bathing suit and I spent $250. Why would I do that? I promise you it was not on purpose. >> Give me one second on that. >> I promise you. Please don't shut it. I can't breathe. >> The window's open. See, the window's open. [laughter] >> Move your knee. >> Please. >> Shortly after, police returned to the store and confirmed with staff that no accident had occurred at all. The entire story had been fabricated by the suspect. cuz she 100% paid for all food, right? >> She showed us original receipt that she paid for was scan and go. Uh the amount that she paid for that I saw was $211. >> Uh all the merchandise that's not food totals up to uh $620. So >> So she didn't pay for any of this right here. >> Uh I I can't tell without, you know, her receipt. >> Does she have a receipt? >> Yeah, it's on her phone. >> So she ain't >> cuz uh we can't um go >> right here. It's just the groceries. >> Yeah, that's all groceries. that she had the scanner go. >> So, there's no way for you guys to access. >> No. Um, not until probably tomorrow without her unless we get her phone for her card number. >> If [clears throat] you hit the last four of her card number that she paid with, then uh >> Okay, that spot. >> So, apparently, >> so you can seize her phone >> and you have to get a search warrant for Is it a felony? >> 600. >> It's not a felony. Can't even seize. Hey, can can I talk to her by myself for a second? >> Like by myself? Look, >> it was an accident. >> I I don't I don't know what happened. >> You're railroading [laughter] me. I promise you it was an accident. >> Well, it could be an accident or not, but I'm >> so scared. >> Why are you What are you scared of? >> I can't go to jail. >> Okay. >> I can't go to jail. >> I have muffins with mom. >> Her lies had become in her mind her own truth. When police clarified the facts, she accused them of trying to deceive her. All right. So, after the whole investigation was done, uh it was uncovered that it was about $611 worth of items that were not paid. >> That's impossible. >> Okay. Well, Paula, >> we didn't even have Paula. Paula, >> I I I had I should witness it. There's no way. There is no way. That's not right. That wasn't my merchandise. >> We sc we scan each item one by one that was in the cart and that's what it total two. Then it wasn't my cart because I'm telling you >> it was the car that you were pushing. >> There's no way. >> Hold on. We're beyond that now. You are under arrest. >> There's no way. I promise. >> I don't want to be doing this. >> I No, I under arrest. >> No, I don't believe this. No. Please. >> Oh my god. Dude, >> put your left leg in. >> You're going to pick up. There's no way. Put your leg in. Put your leg in. >> There's no way. There's no way. That is not true. I don't believe it. You guys are railroading me. >> We're not railroading. >> The woman was arrested and charged with petty theft and resisting an officer without violence. Attempting to evade responsibility only made the situation worse. Cooperation and honesty with authorities are the only ways to protect oneself and prevent escalation, even if the incident was unintentional. >> This is his jacket. >> Okay, I don't care. I'm asking them. >> Okay, that's his jacket. I didn't know he put him in there. He took He took the bike. I have nothing. >> Okay, where's I didn't see my pockets. >> On November 4th, 2023, police received a report from Walmart about an ongoing theft. The suspect, 27-year-old Adriana, had allegedly placed merchandise into her purse and jacket. At that moment, officers approached her without her noticing. >> Ma'am, can we talk to you for a second? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Okay. You want to grab your purse? >> I mean, I'm buying all this. >> Okay. We're not You're not purchasing it. We're going to step outside. >> Okay. I can't purchase nephew. >> 464 on 1012. >> I drink out of the street that you have anything else in the purse because they've all Do you have any items in your purse? >> No, sir. I do not. >> Okay. Do you need me to purchase this? >> Yeah, you're going to purchase that in a minute. We're going to go outside and talk. Okay. >> Okay. >> If you leave and there's anything in your purse, you're going to get charged with retail theft. So, >> I'm going to ask you this. Now, here's where it doesn't become a crime. You can put it in the basket. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I have my purse. >> Um, there is >> her very first words to the officers seemed to reveal her startled nature even before any accusations were made. Remarkably, at this point, she admitted to having items in her purse, but in a surprisingly deceptive way. My boyfriend did in here. >> I'm sorry. >> My boyfriend did put these in here. >> Mhm. >> And I'll be honest with you. >> Okay. >> So that >> Where's your boyfriend at? >> He already walked out of the store. He had black hair, black shirt on, and his skinny jeans. >> Mhm. >> And he went out to the car. >> Okay. >> And that is that is it from here. >> What about the tostados? >> That is from when Dixie. >> What else did you guys see? Where's the bike accessory you took >> in your pocket on your person? >> No, I have no bike accessory. >> Pockets. >> That was to >> He took He took the bike. I have nothing. >> Okay. Where is >> I didn't see my pockets. Okay. >> The woman tried to blame her boyfriend, but everything only highlighted the poor quality of her lies as officers gradually discovered more items hidden in her jacket. Could it be a coincidence? >> Take your hands out of your pockets. Let's see. We're going to do this. What is this? Are you concealing anything? >> This is his jacket. >> Okay, I don't care. I'm asking you. >> Okay, that's his jacket. I didn't know he put him in there. >> There's no mail. >> Yeah, there was. >> Stop fighting me. >> Please ask me. Please. I won't do anything. >> Stop. >> He did it. Let me talk to you. Please. >> 45. Run in here now. Fight. Stop fighting. Stop resisting. RESISTING. [screaming] Move your hand. [screaming] Help me. >> I lost my body camera. >> The moment she [music] resisted spoke for itself. Every lie had collapsed and there was no way out. Gradually, she began admitting everything while lying on the ground. A result of her own defiance. >> I'm really not a bad person. >> Didn't say you're a bad person. >> Just hungry. >> Okay. >> All right. Well, then escalate to this. Okay. >> Please forgive me. >> Okay. Here's who we got. >> Please. >> I need to get you up. Are you hurt? >> No. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I mean, my knee hurts, but >> Okay. >> I really didn't want to be late. >> Here's where we got to go. At this point, the woman even began lamenting about her life, as if that would excuse her actions. Yet, what she had done made it hard for the officers to take her words seriously. >> I've been trapped in a house with no food and no water. Anybody come in here and do this to kill me? >> Who's this? Your boyfriend? >> He's where he's supposed to be out in the truck in the parking lot. >> I'm from Indiana. Okay, Mike should be Indiana DL. >> I'm really I'm 26 years old. >> Oh, here's what I'm going to do. >> I don't want to run. >> Well, you ran. >> I know because you know what to do. They're going to hurt my family. >> Well, you ran. >> You're going to hurt my family. >> You're going to be double locky so they're not too tight on you. Okay. >> I caught ordering grocery shopping. I had Oh, you have a mail with >> not that guy. >> Whoever she was facetiming with order to go get these. >> Okay, he's double locked now. >> Okay, >> I'm going to put you over here. This over here. >> Okay, >> come on back. Take that seat, brother. Thanks, man. >> You good? Okay. I don't really need her. >> Which one? >> My right knee. >> Your right knee. >> Yes, please. And can you please tell my mom? >> During the investigation, officers found syringes in her jacket, which undoubtedly added another charge against her. >> You have any questions? >> No, thank you. Can you move my hair out of my face, please? >> I don't have any gloves on right now. Just >> Okay. Sorry. >> Just hang out. All right. We're going to get you with the retail theft. Now, since I gave you that option, you still concealed it in your pocket or your jacket. >> I I honestly >> it was >> okay. >> You got the resisting because you didn't want to >> comply. You got the drug charge, which is a felony, and then a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. >> What's the drug charge? >> The methamphetamine. >> Okay. So, why is it a felony? >> Because drugs in Florida are a felony on certain classifications. >> I mean, I didn't know. I'm sorry. Come on. >> You know drugs are bad, right? >> In the end, Audriana was charged with secondderee petty theft, resisting an officer without violence, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Attempts to lie, resist, and shift blame backfired, [music] proving that dishonesty and defiance only escalate legal consequences. Next, these girls even tried their luck one more time. Let's see how that turned out. There's them right here, right? >> Right here. >> Yeah, they were right here. This they behind the guy. >> We watched the camera. So, >> and then the whole stuff's down. He's just got the receipt. So, get print out receipt for what was taken, what wasn't. So, >> on March 12th, 2024, police received a call from a store reporting a group of teens who had previously stuffed multiple items into their bags, but only paid for a few. This time, they returned. Here's what unfolded when they arrived at the scene. So we can huh >> we can wait for a few seconds because they're trying to figure out >> where are they upstairs? >> No, we can just wait for a few seconds. >> Where why' you guys call us? >> Huh? >> Why' you guys call us? Are they trying to check out and take stuff or no? >> Yeah. >> You want me to go upstairs? Not to go. >> Huh? >> Okay. Okay. Come on. Somebody else is going to be coming in a minute. Somebody else will come in a minute, right? >> Hey, what's up? How are you? >> Good. How you doing? Hey, what's up? Hi. Hey. >> The reason why we called the my manager wanted us to call. >> Yeah. >> Cuz um yesterday they were actually in here >> and they did the same thing. They walked over with three bags full. >> Okay. >> And only paid for two items. They were in here right now. Walked in right now. >> And then we're waiting to see if they're going to do the same thing around. >> Yeah. So he just called for >> full now. I guess they wanted to be prepared just in case. >> The police entered the store's loss prevention room, waiting for the right moment to approach the suspects. In the meantime, they reviewed what had happened during the previous incident. >> Yeah. So, it was basically during the same time frame with them. >> Okay. >> So, when I was getting ready to go, I passed by and they were bagging everything up. I told my boss, I'm just trying to get out of here. So, um you know, that's when they walked up. But when I replayed the tape, >> they only had pay for two items. >> Okay. And it was three bags full like that. And then now today is the same. I mean, right now they closed the bag up already in the aisle, >> right? >> They already got two bags in there or whatever. Now I'm just waiting to see what they're going to pay now today. >> Did yesterday's get reported or anything? >> I didn't get to like I said, you know, it happened like at 9:30. >> Okay. >> So I I got out of here. I didn't get time to call or whatever and I wanted to make sure that was 100%. >> Okay. >> So I reviewed everything the next day and everything was good. So that's why I didn't get to report it last night cuz I was >> Okay. So do so I have to do that today and then >> Yeah. >> Following their previous crime, the teens returned once again completely unaware that they were being watched on camera. >> Um just start making just start sending another car down here. We're just waiting to view the security footage to make sure um they're going to chop everything, but um just start sending another car down here. And so it looks like we're going to have two 105 fives, but we'll let you know. Hello. Sure. There they go. The police intercepted the suspects just in time and escorted them to the loss prevention room, leaving them with little room to justify their actions. >> So, everyone here is aware our cameras are recording. Okay. [clears throat] >> Go ahead. >> How old is everybody here? >> What's that? >> 20 you. >> 20 you. >> 23 you. >> 21. >> How much? 21. All right. Just so you know, saw the camera, everything up there. You only paid for some of the stuff. He watched it, too. supposedly this happened yesterday. Okay. >> Yesterday's incident. This is not the first time it happened. This happened yesterday as well. Um for yesterday's incident, it applies to only you three. She was in yesterday. Um for today's incident for all four of you. Um you'll be charged with shoplifting. You'll also be >> Yeah. Um you didn't pick another stuff. You passed all points of sales and that's considered shop once you leave the store. >> 2002. You'll also be at the store. >> You'll be charged on >> how much is and then we we're going to explain everything. >> And then you also be banned from the store. You'll be signed this trespassing form that you're not allowed in any of our shops. >> Those were the initial measures the store had put in place for the suspects. Shortly after, the police handcuffed them. >> Okay, everybody stand up. >> Wait, can I write my number? Bring it down. >> Yeah. Stand up for me. >> Can you put it? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> We'll grab your phone. >> Why do you leave them behind in front of you? >> Let's go right here. >> Do you need medical attention? >> I'm asking you a question. It's a yes or no question. >> Can you just switch? >> No, I'll I'll do it when you answer my question. Okay. [music] >> You going to flip over Shelby real quick? Take this hand. Put the thumb down. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Your car we should know about anything weapon. >> Um I have a vape in my pocket. >> Okay. Sure. Fine. Good. That's all I have. >> Okay. We're going to search it on the wall. >> Put that over there. >> Mhm. >> Somebody want to save her. >> Pull that all at once. all together. >> All of them were charged with retail theft. Returning to steel after already being caught only led to even more serious consequences. Cooperating with authorities and respecting the law was the only way to avoid harsher outcomes. >> Listen to me. >> I know my law. I know my wife. >> I did everything that told me him to do and he going to manhandle me. >> Stand up for me, >> man. You suck my >> No, no, no. Don't let him touch. Please don't let HIM >> DON'T LET HIM TOUCH ME. >> On June 23rd, 2025, police were dispatched to Boschau after receiving reports of three suspects involved in shoplifting. Upon arrival, the suspects were still in the parking lot, completely unaware of the unfolding situation. >> Excuse me, sir. >> Hi, I'm officer I'm officer SC. I'm with the Eatontown Police. >> I need I need her backpack. I need all the stuff in the car. >> Just let you know this instance being recorded. Okay. Hello. Hi. Can you shut off the car for me, please? Shut off the car for me. >> And you can just exit. That's fine. Exit. We're going to talk. We're going to talk. You, too, ma'am. You got to exit the car. Nothing of his. >> You don't have anything of his? >> No, I'm not. I don't. >> Okay. All right. All right. We're going to figure it out. >> Can you see it? >> Okay. >> Can I see the bedroom, though? >> Can you see the bed? >> And there was like a big blue uh chair that you had slung over your shoulder. Where's that? >> Got a lot of pillows in here. >> Whatever's yours. Just find yours and take what's yours. >> Exactly. Profile. >> All right. I got plenty of plans and everything, lady. going to sit there and tell you we need to register and pay for this [ __ ] >> Guys, guys, guys, we called here. We're just going to >> give us a hard time. >> No, we are not >> I've been nothing but polite to you, man. >> The woman's arrival escalated the situation, forcing the officers to work hard to calm everyone present. Though their efforts seemed largely ineffective, this like this profiling though is I'm stealing something bugging, bro. >> We're going to figure it out. My job is to my job is to protect you and make sure that everything is correct. Okay? So, let me just take care of it and if he's wrong, we'll determine that. Okay. >> All right. Um, a friend of mine just came picked me up. >> That's fine. Guys, do you have ID with you? Does everyone have ID? >> Do you have ID with you, sir? >> I got ID. >> Okay. Can I see your ID, please, sir? >> You want to see my ID? >> You're invol You're involved in a You're involved in the shop? >> I'm not involved in nothing. I'm with I'm not involved in nothing, bro. Sir, sir, listen to me. I know my law. I know my wife. I know my rights. I came to the store. I bought something. I bought what I bought. I'm not involved in nothing. I got I got money right here. >> So, I don't have to steal. That's profiling, bro. You lying, bro. The man tried to justify himself by showing the money he had, but of course that offered no excuse, nor did the woman's subsequent statements. >> Um, so he's going to determine, >> but he said, "We took out here is the book bag." He went through the book bag. Nothing's in the book bag. He seen stuff. >> Coming from the police point of view, they called [music] us. We're just here to try to figure out what's going on. >> I understand. >> So, we're going to see what >> you can get. Ma'am, >> where's my phone? >> Oh, I dropped my phone. >> We're trying not to make this a big deal. This is like something you're doing for >> all three of them for what? >> She walked out. The uh woman with the yellow shirt walked out with the comforter. >> That's the blue. >> I didn't know honestly. I just >> I watched her do it. >> Yeah, but I didn't know it was >> You watched them try to stuff her in a bag and then she >> No, she didn't. Cheryl. >> No, she did not. No, she did not. >> Step out the car pool. >> For what? >> Thank you. Well, we're going to figure this all out. So, >> why am I stepping out the car for >> Because it's an active investigation. You might be placed under arrest. We don't know yet. >> I'm not being placed under arrest. I'm I'm right now for >> everything else. >> She took this blue bag. >> Yeah, I did. She put >> that cup was mine. To clarify, the woman confidently denied any wrongdoing because she had used the blue bag to steal, but then left it inside the store before exiting. This gave her the confidence to challenge the officers so boldly. >> But I never came out the store with >> that stuff. I never walked out the store with. >> He had this in his bag and she had all this. >> But I never walked out the store with that [ __ ] >> at all. >> I didn't walk out another store with none of that. >> This was in his bag. Okay. But we didn't go through we didn't go through the bag just yet. He just he just forfeited that to us, right? >> Okay. And this was in this black bag. >> I never had that. That bag was stayed in that store and never came out that store. >> That bag never came out that store. >> The cart. >> Yes. >> Right. >> She went behind the register. >> That wasn't in no cart. >> And then she took uh the three bags of chips. Uh >> yes, I did take the three bags of chips. Bag. >> Okay. >> She picked this up out of the display, put it right over her shoulder. They walked out. You put this concealed it in. >> That's when I already used >> and the girl in the shirt uh picked this up off the selling floor and walked out with it. >> Okay. All right. >> But it never came out the store. >> My point is it never came out the store. >> What uh >> I stopped you outside the store. I waited. >> It didn't come out the store. It never moved out that door. >> Tell the truth. Tell the truth. >> The woman was even certain about a black bag that hadn't left the store. Clearly aware of the stolen items inside. It seems she had a keen understanding of what legally constituted stealing. >> All right. >> Once you walk out that door, then you're stealing. >> Sure. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. Uh, guys, listen. Everyone, uh, you're stealing. >> And then you come out, guys, listen. You're being placed under arrest for shoplifting. Okay. >> Stop. >> Nothing walked out that door. >> You're being placed under arrest for shoplifting. >> I never got back. >> I'm telling you. Just put your hands behind your back. It's going to be resistant. >> I know you're not. I know you're not. I will take care of anything. >> Bring this in with this. >> Let her lock. Do not tell me. >> She has to laugh at my right now. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> Turn around. >> Let me get I am. Please don't grab me. I said I will >> put your hands behind your back right now. Turn around. >> All right. Can I No. >> Can I turn around? >> Turn around. >> Let me go then. Turn around. >> Let me go. I know the law. >> Turn around. >> I know the law. Turn around and I'll turn around. >> Turn around. Be nice. >> Turn around right now. >> Be nice. Turn around. >> Be nice. Don't grab me. >> Why is he doing >> Why is he doing that? Stop. >> I DIDN'T DO NOTHING TO HIM. >> RELAX. >> I didn't do nothing. >> The camera was relaxing. >> Turn around. Come on, bro. >> When I tell you to do something you up to me. >> You're hurting me. You're hurting me. >> Don't move. >> Don't hurt me. >> Don't move. You're hurting. Stop pushing me. She's not listening to me. >> Yes, you are. Calm down. Calm down. >> She swatted the officer's hand when they tried to detain her. Yet immediately afterward, she positioned herself as the victim, acting as if she hadn't resisted at all. >> Sorry. I didn't resist. >> I know you didn't resist. >> I didn't resist. >> I saw that, sister. >> I didn't resist. Get the my purse. You ain't ask. >> You ain't ask. Now get out my purse. >> Just be silent. You ain't ask. >> Be silent. >> Get out my purse. You didn't >> be silent. >> And I didn't resist. >> I didn't resist. >> And you know I didn't resist. Why you take my apart? >> Ma'am, face the car. Don't move. >> No, you face the car. >> Don't resist. You're lying. >> Kick open your legs. >> Ma'am, kick open your legs for me. >> They're open. They're open. >> They're open. My legs are open. I'm not going to spread them as wide as you want. I ain't got no gun or nothing. I don't I'm not violent. I'm not a violent person at all. >> Okay. >> Ask anybody about Can I get my glasses >> off the ground? >> Right there. >> Right there. >> Thank you. >> Can I get my purse? >> Bring it all with us. It's all coming back with us. Come on. >> I want my purse. >> Go get it. >> One might think she would start cooperating at this point, but no. She was completely different from the other suspects, fully aware of how to make things difficult for the officers and acted as if she had every right to do so. >> Stop pulling me. >> Well, then just walk. >> I'm walking, but he's pulling me. >> Walk in a straight line. >> Why you got to pull? >> I can't walk. >> Got nothing. >> What are you reaching for? >> I HAVE NOTHING. >> WHAT ARE YOU REACHING FOR? >> YOUR ASS. >> [ __ ] out of here. Stay right there. Stop. >> Tell him to get off me. I have nothing. I have nothing. Officer, I told him I have nothing and I have nothing. Get off me. Get the off me. GET OFF ME. Don't push me. >> Get in the car. >> Don't push me. >> Think you are. >> Even back at the police station, her rage remained intense. Each I did nothing completely contradicted by the stream of insults she hurled. >> I did everything that told me to do. He going to manhandle me. >> Ma'am, stand up for me. >> Man, you suck my dick. Don't let him touch. Please don't let him. >> I DON'T WANT HIM TO TOUCH ME. >> MA'AM, STAND UP. >> DON'T LET HIM touch me. We have to stand up. >> HE DON'T. YOU CAN'T. I DON'T WANT HIM BOTHERING ME, TOUCHING ME. HE CAN'T HANDLE ME ENOUGH. >> All three suspects were charged with shoplifting. Meanwhile, this woman also was charged with resisting arrest. Trying to hide theft and challenged the police only makes things worse. All three suspects refused to cooperate, but surveillance video proved the truth beyond doubt. Next, this reckless mother went even further, recklessly risking her entire family's lives for the stolen items. Gold auto window. >> Vehicle took off. >> Face away from me. >> Just kids in the car. >> How many kids are in the car? >> On March 3rd, 2025, police received an urgent call from Walgreens reporting a theft and a getaway in progress. Initial checks revealed that a woman accompanied by her two children had fled in a gray Chevy Malibu. When officers approached, they cautiously asked her to roll down the window. But things quickly turned [music] far more complicated than expected. >> Roll down your window, man. Roll down the window. Vehicle took off. >> All right. Traffic still light about 100 miles an hour. We're safely driving. >> Come on. Drive. Just drive. Just drive. >> A fast and furious style chase unfolded on the road with the woman's driving completely reckless, violating traffic laws, swerving dangerously past trucks, and worse, what the police had feared actually happened. >> We are a little bit of traffic. Crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash. Big crash, big crash. GET OFF THE VEHICLE. [screaming] HANDS UP. >> Sheriff to block the freeway westbound at 76 Street. [screaming] >> I got you. ROLL DOWN YOUR WINDOW. PUT YOUR HANDS UP NOW. >> Go behind my squat. Yep. PUT YOUR HANDS UP. >> GET OUT THE [screaming] DOOR. HANDS UP. HANDS UP. >> TURN AROUND. Face away from us. >> Face away. >> She's talking to somebody in the vehicle. >> Start coming back to the sound of my voice. YOUR HANDS UP. HANDS UP. Keep your HANDS UP. DON'T PUT THEM DOWN AGAIN. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR. >> Start walking BACK TO THE SOUND OF MY VOICE. NOW WALK BACK. >> WALK BACK TO THE SOUND OF MY VOICE. KEEP WALKING. DON'T PUT YOUR hands down. Keep walking back. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. >> Keep coming. Stop. >> Come back further to the sound of my voice. Hands up. Hands up. Hands up. Face away from me. >> Just kids in the car. >> How many kids are in the car? >> Come over here, buddy. Come over here. Come over here. >> Fortunately, all the other passengers and the mother herself were safe. Yet, it was utterly blameworthy to risk lives over stolen items. At this point, the mother even continued to act in ways that endangered herself. [music] >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. immediately [music] after, police recovered the Walgreens items. According to reports, the woman had scanned all the merchandise but never paid with a total value of just $23727. Yet, she was willing to risk her entire family's lives. At this point, officers worked with her to help find a guardian for her relatives. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's grandma's name? >> Oh, but it's going to be >> Has he take any medications? Okay. Any allergies? >> Was he in a seat belt? >> Grandma. >> Um, was he in a booster seat or anything? >> You want them transported to the hospital? >> Are they okay? >> They got a couple bumps, but nothing's jumping out obvious. Um, we'll let you know if we find anything. Okay. >> Yeah, you can change right there. >> Where was he seated? Um, in the back driver back driver side. Yeah. >> So, they were both unrestrained, it sounds like, where they didn't have any seat belts on. No, they both had um the that middle seat belt on and the um so Destiny was in behind the passenger seat. >> She had her seat belt on. >> Okay. They're both They're both too small to be sitting in the back seat without a car seat. So that seat belt really didn't do anything to protect them. So they do have some bumps and bruises and some scratches. >> Okay. So it's up to you if you want them taken into the hospital. >> I say you >> you want them to go to the hospital. Okay, sounds good. Now, we're going to take over the children. >> At the police station, officers allowed her to calm down before beginning the interrogation. There, she admitted to everything, including the theft and putting her family members in danger. >> So, you want to tell me what was going on? How did it start? What were you doing in uh Walgreens? >> I took some food from school. Okay. You know the amount of approximately of how much you took? >> Yeah, that's what I took. >> Okay. Uh, and I'm guessing they didn't give you consent. You just took away. >> No, I swiped my car. She said it was okay. >> Okay. So, when we pulled you over, did you know that you were pulled over? Did you see the lights and sirens? >> Yeah. >> I mean, you stopped. So, you stopped and you rolled down the window for a little bit. Um, and you started running away. What was the reason for running away? >> Cuz like I I really wasn't thinking like I was like thinking like I didn't want to go to jail. in my kids not having nobody in there. It's like me running away. Still did the same thing. >> So, did you recognize that you were putting your children in danger by running away? >> I wasn't thinking about like all the stuff that could have happened at that moment like it was like uh >> Okay. Were your children the seat belts? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Where were they located when you were driving away? >> In the back passenger and the back driver. >> Back passenger. Okay. They have car seats or no >> just here for a little bit. >> The woman Danielle Butler was charged with fleeing and eluding an officer, causing property damage, first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of child neglect, misdemeanor retail theft, and bail jumping. Risking lives for a petty theft is never worth it. Danielle's choices not only endangered her children, but also herself, showing how momentary greed and poor judgment can lead to severe lifealtering consequences. >> You are needing you for something. On March 27th, 2024 in California, police suddenly spotted a vehicle matching the description of a recent theft and immediately initiated a traffic stop. Here, what's happened next? >> How we doing? >> How are you? >> Good. Driver's license registration. Pro insurance. Also, ma'am, the reason why I pulled you over is you weren't wearing your seat belt. You put it on. Driver's license registration on you or you have your license on you? >> Yes. >> Okay. Can we see it, please? I'm sorry. I >> forgot. >> Let me have my phone with me. I can give you my name. >> Your phone's on your hand. >> This is not my phone. This >> All right. Do me a favor. Unbuckle your seat belt. Go ahead and step out for me. >> What were you guys doing? Moving in the middle. You guys are doing further movements in the middle. Go ahead and unbuckle your seat belts. Go ahead and step out of the vehicle. >> Why do you No. Why are you asking me out? >> Cuz I'm stand telling you to step out. Come on. You're shaking. Get off the phone. Come on, step out. >> The woman behind the wheel appeared nervous, failed to provide documentation, and showed unusual trembling, heightening the officer's suspicions. >> I'm recording. >> Sorry. Come on. >> Show mine. >> And I do not want to be touched. >> Yeah, she she was messing the middle console. Both of them were. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> No, this Where's your ma'am? Where's your ID? I told you I left my phone. Oh, wait. I got it in my phone. >> I spilled soda on my phone. >> No problem. No problem. >> That's uh Linquist, right? >> You'll have to get his identification. >> You're from Naples. >> Yes. >> Keep Yes. So, listen. What it is, you weren't wearing a seat belt. I'm going to issue a warning. I'm not going to sight you. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, um that's it. So, just relax and see. I'm not. No, I was I shake the way I am. And you guys came to be honest, you came at the car like aggressive and I don't understand why over a seat belt. It was very very aggressive. >> So So that the reason why I pulled you over is you have no seat belt. Okay. >> Also, this vehicle uh I got to check, but um was probably more likely some type of retail theft. So we'll we'll talk about that a little bit later. Um you might not have Is this belong to you? Yeah, this is my car and it wasn't involved in a retail. >> Okay. Well, like I said, we'll talk about that later, but I pulled you over cuz you weren't wear seat belt, so I'll deal with that and then we'll go from there. Okay. The woman blamed the officers for acting aggressively and causing her panic. But when questioned about the car's ownership, she failed to provide any convincing evidence. >> Like, so like, >> were you here? You were here. You were here yesterday. >> No, I wasn't here yesterday. >> You weren't here yesterday. >> Your car was >> Your car was >> Oh, at Walmart? >> Yeah. Yeah. You know what that's about. No. >> Who was driving your car yesterday? >> I'm not sure. >> Okay. >> If I show you a picture, can you tell me who he is? >> Absolutely not. I'm not. No. >> No. Okay. >> I look, I'm not No offense, but I'm not a police officer. >> Okay. Okay. >> You know what I mean? >> And this is your car? >> Yeah, this is my car. >> So, it was used in a crime yesterday? >> No, my car was not used in a crime. That is for sure. >> What happened? >> I'll show you 100%. Hang >> on. Dang it. >> When questioned, she adamantly denied her car was linked to the Walmart theft. But officers held video evidence that was about to shatter every denial. >> That's your car, right? >> Y'all are harassing me. >> No, I'm not harassing you, man. >> What does that prove? >> Okay. What that proves is that that car, the picture of that car was taken by the manager at Walmart when an individual that was shoplifting got in it to leave. Someone that was shoplifting got in my car leaving Walmart. Absolutely not true. Do you have video from Walmart reading that? No. >> No. Because I was present in my car when this car left Walmart and there was no one that shoplifted in my car. >> No. >> Yeah. >> He was not in my car when we left. >> Okay. Well, >> I'm telling you he wasn't. Oh, if that's if that's the if that's what you're speaking to, >> our investigation shows different. >> Okay. >> Although confronted with clear images, the suspect stubbornly insisted it was only a misunderstanding. But by now, officers no longer believed her and the atmosphere grew increasingly tense. >> Why didn't they take a picture of the guy hitting in the random car? >> Where's that picture? Where's your video surveillance footage? I mean, obviously, you got something to hide. So, I mean I mean, you know who the guy is. I mean, it's >> I don't have anything. >> It it it's >> I told you I'm not a police officer. It's not my job to look at stuff like that and help you. I have a right to say no. You can ask. >> You have the right. But if you come to my county and you commit crimes here, this is going to happen every single time. >> I don't commit crimes >> and and we're going to know when you're here. >> I don't commit crimes. Well, obviously this vehicle, like I said, there's video surveillance footage of that individual going into Walmart. And like you said, it's not your job to help us identify the person, but obviously he used your vehicle or was in your vehicle. >> No, he did not use my vehicle. This is my >> 10:15. While checking the suspect's information and searching the vehicle, officers suddenly discovered she was carrying a dangerous item, forcing them to act immediately. All right, man. Put your hands behind your back. What am I being arrested for? I found something. >> She's reaching. She's reaching. Stop. Stop. Stop. [ __ ] [ __ ] >> Stop reaching for something. She's reaching. [screaming] OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. RIGHT THERE. GOT IT. GOT TO GET HER. [screaming] MA'AM. [screaming] >> MA'AM. >> I don't know if she's got a gun OR SOMETHING. >> OH MY GOD. I GOT TO >> Oh my god. >> Taser. >> NO. DON'T HURT ME. [screaming] >> NO. PLEASE. PLEASE. >> OKAY. You're breaking my >> Stop fighting. >> All right. Listen up. >> Oh, please God. >> PLEASE. GOT IT. There you go. Relax. You're hurt. Say pee, buddy. Yeah, pee my feet. Oh my god. >> The woman resisted violently, repeatedly reaching into her body as if to draw a weapon, forcing officers to use strong measures and uncover a hidden knife that made the situation even more dangerous. >> I didn't know. Listen. Why are you doing this? >> We're past that point. >> No, please stop. >> We're past that point. Just >> No, he's hurting me. >> Listen, stop. >> We don't know what you're reaching for. If it's a gun, A KNIFE. >> I'M NOT MOVING. >> I'M ONLY MOVING because he's hurting me. >> I'm talking to you civily. >> [ __ ] insane. >> Listen, I'm talking to you civily. You talk to >> Look at how I'm being treated. Civil, look at my face. Does that look civil? >> STOP. STOP. >> YEAH, REAL [ __ ] CIVIL. >> OKAY. >> GOD DAMN IT. THE [ __ ] IS WRONG with you? >> Child six arcadia. We got one. >> Go ahead and search your >> I found a hard object. Did you find any hard object? >> No, she got a knife. >> A knife? Okay. >> Yeah, the knife. >> Would you come down? >> I figured you were reaching for something that was going to hurt us the way you were fighting. Cuz at that point, the gig's done. Everything's done. >> Why can't you just let me go for this? Look at my face. Please. >> Listen. Finally, the woman faced multiple charges: possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer. She was sentenced to 30 months of probation along with heavy fines and court costs. This case shows that resisting only makes things worse, and in the end, the price paid is always bitter under the law. >> Relax. Take a breath. Take a breath. >> This is the recovery position so you can breathe. Okay? You got to keep your lungs open. >> You're making a record. >> I'm going to get your ID. Okay. I need they need to know who you are. >> On April 20th, 2025, officers were called to Walmart after receiving reports of a woman suspected of skip scanning items at the selfch checkckout. When they arrived, the suspect had already been taken to the loss prevention office. She got caught red-handed in both the literal and the figurative sense. >> Hi, my name's Corporal Tilford. What are we doing here today? >> I was purchasing these things and um I I guess I scanned the wrong items. >> A few of the wrong items. >> Okay. My job here is just to >> staring. I'm so embarrassed. >> Do you have a Oh, they're they're one of some of them are training, so they're just watching. Um Are you Was your fingers okay? >> No, I I have a I have like my lately and I might I need to like I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. >> Yeah, cuz they're really swollen. >> I I know. Look how red my hands are, too. >> Sure enough. Um do And you don't have any physical ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> That's what my job here. My job here is just to identify you and then that's it. It's good enough. Um I use a fingerprint scanner. Um it's it's painless. Uh do you are you diabetic or anything? have anything wrong with your fingers? >> Um, I am diabetic. >> Okay. Do you poke which which finger do you poke? >> Um, I I don't poke that. >> Oh, good enough. Okay. Um, so, um, I'll show you on this and basically I'm just going to check your ID. Um, I'm going to identify you. They're going to probably issue a trespass. Anything related to prosecution or any type of criminal, they'll probably handle. Um, because it we weren't involved in that. Does that make sense? Um, I mean, we could try to get your name. Could you write down her name? What's What's we're We're going to write down the name that I'm just going to ask you your name. She seemed cooperative during questioning, but in reality, she completely avoided confirming her identity, using her medical issues as a shield. And worse, everything spiraled even further out of control. >> Briana. >> Brianna, how do I spell that, Brianna? >> B R I O N A. >> And what's your date of birth? >> 81391. >> 81391. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> 91. >> Yes, sir. >> And uh what what state is your ID out of? >> Um I actually don't have an ID. >> Do have you ever gotten any ID ever? >> No. How do you How would you >> I just I don't I don't leave my house much. >> That's probably why we don't have an ID. So So I'll show you how this works and we'll try to your fingers here. It's kind of a cool little technology. Welcome to the future. Can I see your right finger? >> I feel like I'm going to Sure. I feel like I'm going to >> Do you need medical? Hold [laughter] on. Hold on. Hold on. >> Do you want medical attention? >> Yes, please. >> Yeah. Could you call fire for an email? >> Do you want to sit You want to sit back? >> So tell >> I'm just here. Can you breathe for me? You have to get some water. >> Okay. Is this something normal for you? >> It's been getting worse. >> How old are you? >> I'm 33. >> 33. >> Okay. >> Okay. I'm going to have medics come out and take a look at you. Okay. Do you want to sit down on the ground? >> Do you want to sit on the ground or do you want to sit back on this? You want to lay down? You want to lay down on your side over here? >> I'm just preventing you from falling down. >> What do you want to do? >> Or does it hurt? >> It hurts, man. Breathe. Just breathe. Yeah, just breathe. You want to sit down on the ground? Let's go and escort her to the ground and set it back over here. >> Hey, man. Let's take your purse off just to make you more comfortable. Okay, >> there we go. >> Yeah, we'll go for it. >> I'm not going to take it from you. I'm not going to look through it. Let's just go ahead and move it over here. Okay. >> The more they questioned her identity, the worse her illness suddenly became and everything grew blatantly fake when she began acting as if she were having convulsions. But her performance failed miserably. >> I'm going to sit with you, but I'm still going to check. I'm just still going to check your fingers, which makes it feel like we have a warning. Do you have seizures? We're just going to hold you here. >> Just don't I'm just going to sit here with you until medics get sit here. Do you have a warrant? >> No. >> No. Or anything like that? Okay. But I'm I still have to ID you. So, we're going to sit here with you until medics get here. Okay. You want to go on your side? Can you go on your I'm going to put you on your side. I'm going to put you on your side. >> [laughter] >> I'm going to put you in the recovery position, ma'am. Okay. >> Go ahead and turn sideways. I need to see your hands. Relax. Relax. Take a breath. Take a breath. >> This is the recovery position. So, you can breathe. Okay. You got to keep your lungs. >> You're making me really nervous that you're not letting me have your fingers, which makes me [screaming] >> which makes me think that you have a warrant. You're preventing this from happening. >> I need to see your ID. [laughter] >> I need to fingerprint you. >> I No, it's not. This is starting to be resistance and not a medical emergency. Okay? >> Cuz the fact that I wanted to print you, the fact that I wanted to print you and this happened, I'm a little nervous that you're preventing me from not IDing you. So, guess what? You can lay here fine. I'll just need to see your finger. Medics are going to need to know your medical history. Can I see your finger? >> Then we'll go to the other side. Corporal clear. No record. >> I'm going to get your ID. Okay. I need they need to know who you are. Her seizure let her twist her body just enough to hide whichever hand the officers needed, and she even managed to argue back at them in the middle of her supposed episode. Everything only made it harder for the officers to help her. >> But you literally started that the moment I talked about, >> you don't HAVE TO RESIST. [laughter] JUST STOP. STOP. STOP. I need to know who you are. >> Can I please see your finger? >> Why are you preventing me from doing this? Hold on. Just a second. Fine. We'll disid her when she stopped doing her. >> Why are you preventing me from IDing you? [laughter] >> What? What's the name she gave? >> Um >> Rihanna. Rihanna, why are you preventing me from iding you? Why are you stopping me from drinking your fingerprints? [laughter] >> Okay. Well, you're okay now. So, we're just going to sit here and wait for you. [laughter] >> We're better from doing that. We're still going to get it when she's on first already. >> I mean, it's either a completely absolutely or I'm really surprised that the moment we started doing ID, this is happening. And you're preventing me from looking at your fingerprints. >> So, after after we'll follow her down to the hospital, we'll ID her down to the hospital. >> Hey, ma'am, since you since you're having trouble with your hands, do you mind if I pull your ID out of your wallet? >> No. >> Oh, okay. What? >> No. >> That was her answer about giving her fingerprints. And the officer didn't even need a medical team. He already figured out what caused her seizure. >> This right here isn't because isn't seizure resistance. It's on purpose resistance. >> Yeah. I've never seen a seizure. >> My [clears throat] family has epilepsy and my family has seizures and you'll be okay. So, we're just going to stop. You're just going to ride it out and we're going to prevent you from slamming your head on the ground. Okay. >> Seizure. Well, the main thing is not to swallow your tongue and to be exactly where you're at. Are you overdosing on drugs? No. >> Do you need Narcan? >> No. I >> got some in my pouch. >> Can I to help you with medical? The fire department is going to need to know who you are. Can I verify with your fingerprints >> or your ID? >> Or your Can I take a look at your ID? >> Rihanna, why can't I find out who you are? Brianna, I'm about 80% sure this is real, but about 20% believing that you're making a show. >> If uh if breathing changes or anything like that, we'll do CPR. But for now, there's nothing you can do at this point for a seizure to prevent her from slamming into anything. >> The fact that she's so resistance on her fingers, which is weird, but I'm not going to force. I am not able to force cuz it's not. >> This was just a courtesy for them. >> So, they'll go with the information that we have. If we can't identify, we can identify. After the medical team arrived, they confirmed she was completely fine. The officers then found another way to verify her identity, and that was when her lies finally surfaced. Nicole, >> you're Nicole. >> All right, Nicole. The fact that I'm going to ID you is I'm going to ID you through this. Okay. It's important that we do it. Okay. I believe that you're doing this because you don't want me to know who you are. So, I'm going to find out who you are. >> Can't do that. >> Okay. I'll take a picture and put it back. That's fine. I'll put it back. But I'm still going to ID you. I believe this has everything to do with you not wanting me to know who you are, Nicole. You also gave me a fake name. So if I find that you don't go to the hospital, I'm going to take you to jail for lying to me. So either you give me a real name or we're going to go to jail. Looks like you at the players club at at the So she's Nicole. Well, you just you're not a Briana at all. Nicole, if you're having a medical emergency, you shouldn't be worried about me. >> Nicole, I'm here to identify who you are because now I believe that you're lying to me. So now I'm investigating obstruction. >> Hey, if you're having a medical then let me print you and let's take care of this. Can I print you real fast and fix this? Let me print you and we'll call it a good. >> But if you're having a medical emergency, you shouldn't be worried about me at all. >> Well, Nicole, I already have probable cause for your arrest cuz you just gave me a false name. So if you want to go that route, we can go that route. >> The woman turned out to be a perfect actress, still pretending to be a helpless victim just to avoid walking to the patrol car. All because of the real reason behind hiding her identity. >> Hey, Nicole, you have a $7,500 warrant. >> And now we know why this is happening. But now you're going now you're going strapped down because now we're forcing you to go to the hospital. >> Don't worry about it, Nicole. I don't need your fingers anymore. I identified who you were. How's it going, Mr. Bailey? Soon as I tried to fingerprint her, she had a seizure and then we found out she has a $7,500 warrant. Well, well, well. But now I'm divi now I'm deciding if she's playing this game and causing this level of uh um of level of resistance on this. I'm thinking you're charging her for false statement. So, this is what we're doing. Nicole, you're going to the hospital and then you're going to go to jail >> because I think this is a show. I think you're lying to me and I think that uh that you did this because you didn't want me to know you were a call. >> Okay, Nicole, we're going to do this as an involuntary committ. >> Um, but I'm also going to charge you for giving me a false name cuz you lied to me. Okay. So, when we get over here, I'm going to still take your fingerprint. >> Nicole, I'm going to be straight with you. Well, I'm going to be straight with you. Look at me. Nice. I promise you I will take you to jail unless you stop. I promise you I work until 7:00 a.m. and I will wait for you at the St. Francis. You need to stop and you need to tell us what's going on. >> You have a body. >> Okay. Why did you lie to me about your name? >> Yes, you did. You said your name was Brianna and your name is Nicole. >> Oh my god. >> Medical medic doesn't doesn't really have a diagnosis for you. >> Open your eyes. Open your eyes. Really good. >> Okay, that's fine. And and we'll follow you there. Open your eyes. So, >> she was charged with theft and for obstructing the officers during the identification process.
