[Music] years ago back in the early 90s um I was a paramedic and it didn't take me long to figure out that wasn't my true calling working in the Detroit area I got to work alongside of uh many members of the Detroit Police Department um and I was very very impressed with what I saw I was just amazed at the things these guys dealt with on an hour toour basis all the different challenges uh whether it's dealing you know with an accident a violent criminal you know locating a missing child whatever it was whatever call was there and there was always calls there you know these guys were just available non-stop Round the Clock night and day all day long all year long to handle all of our problems I saw a number of police officers do some very brave things and I was just so impressed with it um I went out and applied to be a Detroit police officer so I came out to Portland for a number of reasons uh mostly for my family it was a change in the quality of life uh a change in the climate um the variety of things to do the variety of things that are available to do here the culture here in Portland is is quite a bit different than probably anywhere else in the United States the first thing that really impressed me about the Portland Police Bureau is the level of professionalism here and um the standards that are expected from the Bureau of its officers I was really impressed with the level of Education that they had and out on the street the level of professionalism um The Bureau expects a pretty high standard of its officers and I think most of the officers here do an excellent job of living up to that standard and I'm proud to work alongside of them and it's it's always busy it's always busy which for me is exciting [Music]
