Her attitude continued to escalate, forcing the officer to speak up. >> Mom, tell Frank, "I'm trying to get my car out of the road." Like, >> you can't be making calls WHILE YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. ARE YOU OUT of your mind? >> Just answering the phone. >> It doesn't matter. Bro, like >> listen, I've I've been too I've been really nice to you up to this point. Your attitude is dictating what you're going to get. Okay? I've been nothing but respectful. I've been trying to work with you. You can't be making phone calls. You can't be talking to people. I don't know who's on your phone. That's an officer safety issue. You're right. You're right. Okay? Just give me a minute. I promise you, we're going to work with you. Okay? >> I have charges for you. That's it. >> I will explain it to you. The detective who wrote the charges is going to talk to you. >> I don't know. >> Maybe you can get this taken care of, right? and get this slate knocked clean. It looks like every other car, but that tag is going to be >> E. That's how it is. >> That's my supervisor. >> The officers tried to find a way to avoid towing the woman's car and wasting unnecessary resources. But with her arrogant attitude continuing, they changed their decision. >> Here's my promise to you. I'm not towing your car. I'm promising you that I'm not towing it. We'll figure out your car. I'm not gonna leave your car. >> Got my key on my pouch. You got my bank card. >> I'm not gonna leave your car right here. We're gonna figure out how we're going to get your car to your house. I promise you that. Okay. >> Why my mama got to take the car? Call Bula, bro. That's not reasonable. Like, come on. Y'all know my mama don't got to get the car, bro. What they got to do with me? But what they got to do with me? Like, y'all know my boyfriend can take my car. >> Do you want to have a seat? Can I talk to my boyfriend? I don't want to sit down. Cuz she said she passing right away. She said y'all. >> Have her come down here. I'm not playing these games anymore. >> Otherwise, I will tow this car. >> What they got to do with me, bro? Like I ain't did >> I already I already explained it to you. >> So, you going to tow my car? >> Yeah. We're going to end up >> just letting you know we're not allowed >> to do that. the way the car is right now. It's It's >> You're obviously seeing, right? Like it's the same way. >> Yes. >> Okay. Same way we left it. I didn't I didn't key it. I didn't move it. Right. >> Okay. We are liable. If if we move the car, we get a flat tire, any of that crap, and you decide to sue us, >> we'll get you out of here. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. >> As for the other suspect, officers contacted her and gave her 45 days to turn herself in, but no meeting ever took place. So, the officers went looking for her. Hi. >> You're supposed to turn yourself in. You're under arrest. >> Uhhuh. >> Here, I'm going to give you my handcuffs. You don't mind? Then you just transfer over to us and >> Hey, how you doing? >> It was me you were talking to on the phone. >> Okay. >> I'm lying to you. >> I I We tried to do this to you know, I left it up to you and I told you I was going to come get you. >> No, let's actually Let me identify that car. I was like, they're going to be a minute. They can't even get through. >> Car's not stolen. Here's your car. Just you have a tag for a trailblazer on it from 2023. >> What happened to turn yourself in? >> Well, if you say it. >> Well, if you say it, we gave you the opportunity, right? >> You said you said you were going to do it. >> [ __ ] that y'all know good. >> All right. See, this is why we have problems, right? We try to we try to give you an opportunity. >> No problem. It's no problem. I mean, I ain't nobody. >> No matter. We We tried to give you We tried to We tried to give you an opportunity, right? We tried to give you an opportunity. >> Give me no opportunity. >> All right. Good enough. >> Come on. >> We're done. >> You know what? Come out. Come up to the Look up in that thing and >> Okay. Yeah. Let me see. Hold on. Let me see my >> No. >> She didn't seem to show any remorse when the officers appeared. And even afterward, she showed no shame when admitting to another concerning traffic related violation. >> Yeah, looking. If not, it's in my daughter car. It's in my daughter car. >> I just don't want you to leave your driver's license. >> No, it's I don't have driver license. >> Well, ID card. >> Are you It's in my daughter car. >> Okay. >> As long as you know where it's at. >> Yeah, it's in her car. >> You don't actually have a driver's license? >> No, I was in the process of getting you all I know. I'm telling about this. >> Try to be nice to you, man. >> You tried me for Here's what's going to happen. You're going to get some tickets. like there's consequences to our case. >> Thank you. >> In the end, Desandra Thompson, 32, was arrested on one count of retail theft in connection with the Old Navy case. Her mother, Latonia Verdell, 51, was also taken into custody in connection with the same theft. Although the transcript does not specify a separate charge against her, being given an opportunity to turn yourself in does not make the consequences disappear. Ignoring that opportunity can only lead to further trouble when officers eventually catch up with you. Next, the entire parking lot was thrown into chaos because of this woman. >> No, I don't. >> No, I don't. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Stop, sir. Sir, stop. >> No. >> Sir, medic. >> All right. 85. >> On the 22nd of October 2024, officers approached a woman at Lowe's after suspecting she was connected to a vehicle similar to one involved in a previous theft at Dollar General. But the officers never expected the situation to quickly turn chaotic. >> Everybody stop. >> What's wrong? >> You come here. Just stand right here for one second. >> Okay. >> What's wrong, though? >> Come here. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> What did he do? >> Palms together. What did he do, sir? Sir, what did he do? >> I'll tell you in just a second. >> I actually didn't do nothing. >> Oh my god. >> My daughter, bro. >> All right, you wait right there. Stay right there. Come here. You put your hands behind your back. >> For what? >> You have a warrant for arrest, Tiffany. >> No, I don't. >> Put your hands >> No, I don't. >> Put your HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> STOP, SIR. SIR, STOP. >> Step it up. >> PLEASE STOP. >> ALL RIGHT, STOP. >> ALL RIGHT, STOP. GET BACK. >> STOP. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> GET HIM. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> Get him. >> Get on the ground. >> I'm trying to get away from >> Get YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. You got to >> GET YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> STOP. >> Get your hands behind your back. JASON, JASON. >> LATER, backup officers were called to the scene, but the situation became even more complicated when she appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency. >> GET BACK. GET BACK. Get away from him. Get away from him. >> I can't breathe. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> JUST PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND your back. >> Another cuff. Get away. >> Another cuff. >> I am. >> Go back there. >> I am here. Stop resisting. >> I'm not I can't breathe. >> I cannot breathe, man. >> I have blood all over here. We're good. We have to tame. >> Do you have any bloodborne illnesses? Cuz now I have blood all over. >> I need a squat. I can't breathe. >> Get on your side. Sit on your sit up. >> I can't breathe. Please. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> PLEASE. I NEED A SQUAT. PLEASE. >> PLEASE. I need a squad. I can't breathe. No. >> Start a medic. >> All right. >> Sit up. >> You can cancel 44. Everyone sits down. >> One medic for the female. >> She's on her side in handcuffs. >> Can you hear me? >> He's got a >> Hello. >> bleeding from his finger. >> Who are you? >> Wake up. Hello. >> Yeah, she need to be detained. The woman was believed to have swallowed drugs which appeared to have caused her condition while her family member was informed about everything that had happened. However, it seemed he was not surprised by any of it. >> What's going on? >> Uh, are you guys looking for Scott? >> This vehicle, similar vehicle just committed a theft at Dollar General. Okay. >> At Dollar General >> in Hillyard. Yes. Okay. It might not be this vehicle, >> but I was aware that she has a warrant for arrest cuz this vehicle has been on our hit with our >> This is my grandmother's vehicle. >> Yes. But she's known to associate with it and she's on our wanted list. Okay. So, we pulled it. We thought >> that you guys just committed a theft at Dollar General cuz this vehicle is similar and we saw this in the area. So, I came over here to detain him to investigate the theft. >> She started to act up and I knew she had a warrant for her arrest. Okay. >> [music] >> So >> that's my mother >> that happened. Okay, >> I understand. >> But uh >> him it's not him you're looking for it. >> And the other officer that was investigating that just got here and said that it's not going to be him. So he will be let go. Okay. >> I know where who you're looking for. >> Okay. Did somebody just commit a theft at >> No. >> Dollar General. Then that's not who I'm looking for then. Another man who identified himself as her husband was at the scene and appeared concerned, but officers stopped him from getting too close because they feared he might interfere. >> That's my wife. >> Oh, that's your wife. That's my wife. >> All right. So, we got Yeah, we got medics coming right now. Okay. >> It's okay. I just want to know she's okay. That's all. >> Right now, we're we're getting medics here. Okay. We're trying to figure out what's going on. Yeah, we're trying to figure that out. She's she's unresponsive. She's not conscious. Can >> I talk to her, please? >> The talking is not going to do anything, sir. >> Huh? She She's being taken care of right now. Okay, >> man. >> She's being taken care of right now. >> She was unresponsive just a second ago. >> You just heard her move. She throw up. >> Yeah. Well, obviously. >> So, she just Can we move around so she can see me, please? >> So, she just Listen to him. Listen to him. Listen to him. So, she just fought me and did all this to me. You see? Okay. And then as soon as we got cuffs on her, she acts like she's unconscious now. Okay. We're getting her checked. >> Probably is. Seizure. Okay. Okay. >> So, just chill out. We'll get it all. >> Can we move around where I can see her? >> We can go walk this way. You need to stay away from her. >> Yes. As long as she can see me. >> Okay. >> As long as she can see me. >> Did she fall to the ground? >> I took her down and she stood up when she was fighting the whole time until we got cuffs on her. >> Meanwhile, the male suspect was also approached [music] and he provided additional information about the woman. >> I'm just here with my daughter. That's her mom. >> Is your daughter the or your daughter's the little kid obviously? And then your your girlfriend's the blonde girl with the blanket. >> And her dad is the ones who are shopping for the >> Where's her dad? Is he talking over there to the cops? >> Okay. What's mom's name? >> Tiffany Piles. >> Tiffany Piles. All right. >> Scott Richards. >> Okay. >> They actually got married. Her name might be Richards now. >> Not sure. >> Absolutely. >> Okay. Uh, do you know of any Did she use any narcotics? >> No, I do not. >> Okay. All right. She was running out with this stuff. >> Well, so, uh, she was a suspect of a theft in our jurisdiction. >> Okay. >> And we found her here. >> So, I don't know where this is from. >> This is from here. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I don't think >> Okay. So, >> she has the receipts on her. >> Well, cuz here's the issue. They're around a history. >> Where did you guys come from before this? >> The house. >> The house. So, we're at uh >> Come on, man. >> What's going on? I know what they got. I know what you guys are here for. I mean, what's going on? But besides that, >> how you doing? Good. >> Everything good? >> Yeah, we're okay. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, she's one's being transported. Everything's good over here. >> What the hell happened here? >> Um >> close to God. >> So, it sounds like probably what she did, she probably paid for these two, scanned and paid, and then pushed these out. You need something. >> In the end, Tiffany Piles was booked on an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with theft from Lowe's. The male detainee was released at the scene and was not charged in the Dollar General theft. A situation can escalate quickly when a person resists an officer's attempts to detain them. Cooperating with officers and handling the situation calmly can prevent a tense encounter from becoming even more complicated. Worse, this man turned the entire store into a nightmare. >> No, you're going to leave it. >> Turn around. Turn around. >> I feel bary, doc. I was trying to buy some popcorn and do >> the 29th of January, 2025, police were dispatched to a shopping store after receiving a report of a disturbance. The suspect was reportedly a man who had been refused service because he had previously been there and committed theft. When police arrived at the scene, the situation immediately turned into a confrontation. >> I refused the service. He went to the beer area. Was it? >> He walked out with two beers. I had a right there. He's calling me a >> Was that over here? >> This one? >> No, that's right. >> And he was saying that you guys talk to >> He was waiting for you guys. Can I talk to you real quick? >> No, I'm trying to pay for this first. Okay. She's refusing your service. >> Yes, I >> No, you're going to leave it. >> Turn around. Turn around. [ __ ] you. [ __ ] you, [ __ ] >> Turn around. >> Turn around. Turn around. >> Turn around. >> I will. Well, keep back. >> Turn around. >> I will. Keep the [ __ ] around. Yeah, let go. >> Pick me up after >> pick me up after >> pick me up off of this [ __ ] Head the up. >> Pick me up, babe. Charges for what? For what? >> During the struggle, the man appeared to assault the officer. Yet, he showed no remorse and continued to deny the seriousness of what had happened. >> You Why you give me like that for? That's That's unnecessary. >> When you turn around, throw that poporn. popcorn. >> Yeah. Trying to hit me or somebody else. >> You? >> Yeah. >> Check the cameras. >> Oh, I will. >> I ain't trying to nobody, dog. >> You're catching assaults on a peace officer. Is this a truck? >> What's your date? >> Check the cameras. >> What's your date to be? >> [ __ ] >> what's your social? >> Um, that's for only um social security um purposes. >> Okay. You ever had a New Mexico driver's license? >> Doesn't matter. What state do you have a drug list? >> Doesn't matter. >> When police went back to question the store employee, the story about the two cans of beer gradually became clearer. But the way the suspect handled the request for payment was what made the situation noteworthy through their account. >> I can't show you the cameras. Whenever he went, well, on the on the beer, we don't have that much cameras. Good. But he went straight up to the beer. He was like, "Are you selling beer?" And I was like, "Well, yeah, but I thought they were unlocked." So anyways, um I saw him with this two beers walking out. I have them over here. Um so I told him I I confront him and I was like, "Let me have him." And he was like, "Well, give it uh take it out and I was going to grab it." >> Where did he grab or where did he have them? >> In his pockets. >> Oh, he had them in his pockets. >> Video? Yeah, I have the video. >> Where did he get them from? over there in the refrigerator. >> Yeah. He went to he went inside of the cooler whenever he's they're not allowed to go inside. >> Only you? >> Huh? Only myself. And I didn't know that the coolers that were closed. >> I was like, I'm going to open them. So, he start acting up. He was like, "Are you still here?" And this and that. And I was like >> I was like, "Yeah, well, I came back from my days off." >> Yeah. >> And he was like, "Well, uh, I told him I was like, "Pay that." And he was like, "Well, what do you want me to do for you? You want me to kiss you?" And then I was like, "No, I'm telling you to kiss." So he walked out. So I went outside with him. >> Oh, you went outside with him? >> Yeah. >> Do you still have them in his pockets? >> Yeah. >> And he was like, "What?" >> Like the pockets of his sweater or his pants? >> His pants. >> And he was like, "Uh, I'm going to pay [ __ ] I'm going to pay. What the you're doing? Do your job." And I was And she was And he was like, >> "And this is outside." >> Yeah. And he was like [ __ ] and this and that. I was like, "Okay, pay that." And then he came back. He was going to put the beers. So he was like, he was going out with me. He was like, "Oh, do your job and this and that. You and the hura melon and this and that." And I was like, "Okay, I grabbed the two beers from there." I was like, >> "Where did he like pull them out of the pockets or >> put it over here?" Because possibly he was going to pay here. >> Oh, so he came back inside. >> He came back inside. The employees statement added another detail before the camera footage was reviewed. And this time, police began looking into more than just the act of throwing the popcorn. >> Yeah. It's like, >> yeah. No, he was he was like, "Do you want me to kiss you?" And this and that. I was like, "No, I just want for you to pay the beer." >> That's whenever he walked out again. That's whenever I tell him. >> Did he pay for those items? Mm- >> So he didn't pay Friday. >> No. >> Mhm. >> We could go with assault. >> Yeah. >> Cuz he he stepped towards her like uh making them statements about like what do you want me to do to kiss you? And she just said right now that she thought he was going to hit her like when he stepped towards her. Oh, she just did it right now. >> So the assault right there. So multi. So that that assault and then when he threw the popcorn. >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. >> But you throw popcorn. I don't know if it's I thought it was going to come at me and then I didn't know if it was her and that's >> like be on the ground in the pile of yours. >> Oh no. So that's whenever >> they're in the corner >> there in the corner. So let me see. >> I got to video. >> Yeah, cuz that's not going to be good enough. >> Just if I can see it. So >> store's closed. >> Yeah, it's closed right now. Yeah, she's she's confronting him right here and he like takes a steps he takes a couple of steps towards her and then >> and I know I'm going to get >> statements at that time [laughter] like what do you want me to do? >> I know I'm going to get on it cuz I don't supposed to be confronted. >> Oh, you're fine. You're trying to do your job and ultimately I didn't know who it was cuz he was calm when I walked in. He was at the the register and >> anything else? >> See look so right there. Right here I walked up. >> See he walked up. So I went straight I went up to get him. >> That girl that's outside, she did she come inside or do anything at all or she in the car? >> No. No, she was in the car all the time. >> Back with the suspect, he still acted arrogantly as though he were [music] innocent and he began accusing the employee in return without showing any shame. >> That's crazy, dog. >> Did you want to tell me anything about what happened, bro, or no? >> Yes, dog. I feel badly, dog. I was trying to buy some popcorn and this big stock we already um rebumped his a couple of times dog. I threw my popcorn because I was mad dog and I got tackled dog. That's up homie. Laella, man. I could if I wanted to do whatever. This ain't [ __ ] me. This ain't [ __ ] That [ __ ] ain't [ __ ] to me. and the actual dude that I [ __ ] up. He look at me, dog. I'm way he me because I threw popcorn. Uh some popcorn. I threw it across the um the store. That's no crying, dog. Hope you guys are crying. >> That's That's all I got to say. You mean gang three representing from Cruz, you know what I mean? ass. All y'all haters, I got to get him where I fit in. You know what I mean? >> It's the danger. >> What are you talking about, dog? >> Talking about what you just said. >> What? What are you talking about, dog? >> What are you talking about? Bedroom. >> By the time he was being taken away, Thomas continued asking about his charges, but the officer's answer clearly identified the two charges he was facing. >> So, what's my my charge right now? assault on a peace officer and resisting. >> Oh, that's good, dog. I appreciate that, Don. That shit's >> I'm glad that [ __ ] went through. Hopefully, they charge me with that [ __ ] dog. >> You trying to go back or what? >> No, it's on camera, dog. >> It's on camera. >> Yeah, >> it's on camera. Right now, going to take X-rays on me. That's dope, dog. Sad family all day every day. >> You already know where the I'm from. I ain't got to say nothing. [ __ ] Now >> where you living at? >> Are you guys still doing that with the walk in walk out type of [ __ ] in the county? >> That I don't know, bro. It changes. >> Who's the arresting officer? >> Huh? >> Who's the arresting officer for the Royal? My my charges. >> For your charges today? >> Yeah. Uh, I think it's going to be Lazarin. >> Lazar. >> Lazarin. Yeah, he's one of the ones that showed up a little later. >> Okay. >> But do you still do that walk in, walk out type of >> I I don't know, bro. >> Remember back in the days I got um some in and out the out. >> I was like, what the I didn't want to go in and out like that. They probably think I'm dropping dimes or some [ __ ] You know what I mean? I'm like, "What the?" >> Richard Thomas was charged with assault on a peace officer and resisting. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a simple dispute into a much more serious encounter. Once officers become involved, staying calm and following lawful instructions can help prevent the situation from escalating further. Even crazier, this woman seemed to think she had the right to use the services without paying. >> Oh, she kicked that car again. ON THE SIDE. YOU AIN'T A THING, [ __ ] [snorts] >> You ain't a thing. You You suck. >> On the 12th of December, 2025, police [music] were dispatched to a hotel after receiving a report about a woman who had used the hotel's services, but refused to leave, even though she had not paid for them. The [snorts] officer quickly arrived at the scene to get a clearer account from the employee. >> Hi. >> Hello. Did you call about someone? >> Yeah. There was a guest on 2:13. She's refusing to pay and refusing to leave. >> Why she [clears throat] was refusing to pay? >> She just said she don't want to pay. >> My boss. Hold on. >> Hello. >> Hey. Why is she refusing? >> So, you got somebody that's doesn't want to. >> She's a bit strange. Um, >> she what? >> She's a little strange. I don't know. The conversation I had with her, she's like, you do whatever you want to do. I said, I'm just trying to get payment because >> you paid up till the 10th. >> However, we need payment moving forward and your card is currently declared. So, I had to have a representative go up with me. So, so >> I just think that she's run out of money. >> Uhhuh. >> Well, she can't stay for free now. >> So, yes, sir. >> How you doing? >> He just needs you to go up with him to room 250. >> Let her know that she she's got to go. >> And if she don't and if she don't want to go, >> I I tried to reason with her. I tried to get payment, but first she went off from this morning when I called her and she was like, "When the manager comes in, we'll sort it out." I said, "Hey, I'm I'm calling you." So, she's like, "What are you trying to call me for?" I'm like, well, you can't. >> So, anyway, long story short, I just think she doesn't have any and it's to a point where I don't want my staff to be >> canled or harassed. And >> we'll go up and and >> the officers then approached the room where the suspect was staying. They knew she was inside, but it seemed she had chosen to ignore them. He said >> West Palm Beach Police said he might be in 20. He did say that. >> What? >> It's West Palm Beach Police. He just want to talk to you. >> Hello. >> What's her name now? >> Uh Christine. >> Christine. Yeah. Hello. Do you have you want to have a tea? >> Hello. The woman was confirmed to be inside the room doing her makeup and ignoring everything without responding. This was a sign of resistance, so she was pulled outside afterward. I don't think that's somebody going out. >> I want you to get off my arm. >> Nope. >> You chose this for yourself. We gave you plenty of >> Stop it. Wait, wait, wait. What you got? Uhuh. Uhuh. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. >> You need to sit tolerating trash from your body. >> Get your foot off. >> No. Absolutely not. >> Get off of me. >> You trying to kick me? Why would I get my foot off you? but her resistance showed no signs of stopping. As she was escorted outside, she continued to make things increasingly difficult. >> Get off of me. You're not in the house. Get off of me. Don't you kick that car again. >> Wait, we just might have to put you in our house >> where you'll be laying down. Yeah, he was. Was that 15 or 14? >> He was in the car. >> Get off of me. I'm going to get in the car. >> Okay, get in the car. >> [ __ ] dude. >> Westbound. You can spin in the mat as fast as you want. >> All right, turn over. Turn over. Turn over on your stomach. There you go. It seemed like that would be the end of it, but she was taken [snorts] to the hospital for a medical check, and she still continued to make the situation increasingly tense. >> Hi, Christie. >> Get your [ __ ] hands off me. >> Do your [ __ ] job. Don't good cop bad coping. >> Told you today. >> NEVER GOING TO SEE YOUR ASS FACE AGAIN. Talking me through this, [ __ ] You're not my [ __ ] >> Don't talk me through. I'M GOING TO CUT YOU. THE woman seemed completely unaware of her situation, acting as though she had done nothing wrong. Even worse, when she was taken back to the police station, her attitude became even more confrontational. >> No, come fix it. >> Come on. >> I'm not playing good cop, bad cop with y'all. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Work for it. Work for it. >> Yeah. Work for it. >> What are you doing? Work for it. It's just stick this out. Take her this out. >> Let's put her on the bench and then we'll >> sit the down. >> Put her down, Connor. Okay, let's go. >> Let's go, Connor. Conor, let's go. >> Just leave her. Leave her. Just >> leave her. I got Jackie. >> Stop. You see, I'm in C. I'm going to cuss. >> Hobble her. Bring the hobble. >> Oh my gosh. >> Get your hand off of my face. >> Get off of me. You're hurting me after my arm. You're hurting me. >> All right. >> Yeah, she's going to take it off >> now. She's good. >> My sand. >> Okay. Have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Bring them in. >> Have a seat. >> Code word. Brooklyn. Yeah. Code word. Brooklyn. She's from Brooklyn. and you will never humble me. You will never humble me. You will see me in the streets and be like, "I wish I could be like that [ __ ] I wish I could be like her." >> In the end, Christy Franklin was charged with felony battery on an officer. Resisting an officer with violence and trespassing. [snorts] Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a simple situation into a much more serious encounter. [music] Staying calm and following lawful instructions can help prevent further escalation and additional consequences. Next, this woman would even go as far as putting other people in danger. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> GET OUT of the car. You're going to get sprayed. You're going to get sprayed. >> On the 23rd of February, 2025, police approached a vehicle in the Nordstrom parking lot on suspicion of being connected to multiple thefts that had occurred at various stores. And things quickly became tense when the suspect behind the wheel proved to be extremely uncooperative. >> Just want to let you know everything's been recorded via body camera. Just uh can you do me a favor? Just step right here. >> Uh how are you? Officer Nay Melbourne Police Department. Just want to let you know everything's recorded via body camera. Just a license, please. License, can I just identify you? Can you just turn the vehicle off for me? >> Sure. >> No problem. >> Mind just stepping out of the vehicle? Stop. >> Step out. >> Can you just step out? >> He's asking you to step out. Step out. >> Roll the window down. >> Step out. Step out. >> Step out. >> He's about to try to take off. >> Where you going? Stay right here. Stay right here. Stay right here. >> All right. I understand that. BUT STAY RIGHT HERE. UNLOCK THE CAR. >> UNLOCK THE [ __ ] DOOR. >> UNLOCK THE DOOR. >> TURN THE CAR OFF. >> OPEN THE >> STARDUST. More units. >> Open. >> Get out. I'M BREAKING THE WINDOW. OPEN THE CAR. >> GET YOUR WINDOW CLOSED. >> The driver showed no signs of cooperating and more importantly, the vehicle appeared to have been started. The female suspect then went on to take even more reckless actions. >> Get your window punched. >> Have not been reviewed by the car. Get out of the car, you idiot. >> Get the out. >> GET THE OUT. GET OUT OF THE CAR. TURN THE CAR OFF. TURN THE CAR OFF. GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> Out of the car. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> GET OUT of the car. Just go sit right here. >> I didn't do nothing. >> I know you didn't do anything. >> What stands out is that after her actions, the two officers nearly got hit, but she showed no sign of remorse or guilt. She only cared about what she needed, which had nothing to do with the incident. >> Yeah. Right now, don't step anywhere near the vehicle. >> I'm not doing nothing. >> Yo, I'm still I understand whatever y'all did. I'm still doing just have a drink. I won't touch. We will in a second. Got it. >> In fact, the woman's behavior suggested that she was not in a stable mental state. And everything the officers later found in her bag seemed to answer all the questions. >> What pills are these? >> Miranda. Read her Miranda real quick. I know you're in the middle of a search, but just I'll be okay. >> You had the right to remain. >> Sorry. >> You have the right to remain silent against you in a court of law. You had the right to an attorney or attorney for you. If you decide to ask your question, stop my question or has to have an attorney. You're right. But uh >> says he doesn't have any of these like white. >> Perfect. >> No, that's white. >> Yeah. Little one, little brown one, and the same ones are out there. Yeah. >> No, I'm not. >> No, I'm not. Check through these. >> No, it was just like stacked up like squares in her bag. >> Send it. >> Wasn't line though. The woman was found to have multiple warrants, making her arrest certain. As a result, the man appeared extremely worried and tried to deny any involvement. >> No, don't do that. Go to the medical. That's mine. >> So stuff in this in this purse you're saying is yours, too? >> No, that phone. >> So the heroin's not yours? >> No heroin. I don't have no damn drugs, you know. How would I know? We don't know you. You said your stuff is in the same bag as hers. >> Only one bag. >> Yeah, I just seen one. It was in >> No, there's not one. >> What is it? You got everything you need out of. >> Yeah, we got to speed it up for the toe, bro. >> The woman was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing justice, shoplifting, criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and battery of an officer. [snorts] Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a theft investigation into a much more serious encounter. When [music] officers give clear commands, escalating the situation can lead to additional consequences beyond the original accusation. Next, this man was no less erratic than the person in the previous case. What the >> what happened? On the 21st of July 2022, police received a report from Walmart about a man who was attempting to flee after allegedly committing a theft there. Officers immediately stopped him. But things only became more difficult when he resisted while denying everything. >> Listen, man. You listen. You can put your hand behind your back or you can take or get tag. One of the two. What you going to do? >> Hands behind your back. Willie, >> stop. Quick. Stop. Quit literal. Fix it, bro. >> Huh? MY LITERAL. >> QUIT. >> Listen to me. Quit. >> We don't want to hurt you. >> Get over me then. >> Quit. >> He's on the >> When additional officers arrived, it seemed that restraining him would become easier. But Brooks's reaction showed that things were far from over. >> Take me in, bro. >> You going to [ __ ] [ __ ] poke your [ __ ] I literally paid for my [ __ ] and y'all tripping. I paid for my disuck and I [snorts] went the wrong >> [ __ ] I just >> Easy. You hurt yourself. Don't do that. >> I JUST PAID FOR ALL MY NO, >> YOU DIDN'T. I DID. NO, >> YOU DIDN'T. HEY, LISTEN. WHAT THE [ __ ] I >> JUST PAY FOR ALL MY STUFF. >> I just pay for everything. >> Back tripping. >> I never check it. >> After a long struggle, officers finally managed to restrain him. But he still did not stop making things difficult. Seemingly convinced that he was the victim. >> Whatever you hold. >> Oh my my glasses. >> What the hell? >> Let it go. Get it up. Let it go. >> My glasses. >> What the hell wrong with y'all? All this [ __ ] All this I just did. Y'ALL TRIPPING. ALL THIS [ __ ] I JUST DID. OKAY, we're going to get ALL THAT [ __ ] I JUST I BOUGHT IT LITERALLY. >> Can you do nothing wrong? >> Get him. Get him. Get him. Get him. Get him. Let's stand up. >> All right. Damn. >> I literally [ __ ] my [ __ ] IT'S ME. LIKE I'M LIKE I DID SOMETHING WRONG. I AIN'T DID [ __ ] WRONG. EASY, MAN. >> Get the hell OFF OF ME. OH my [ __ ] bro. >> [ __ ] >> put him in a car. >> WHAT THE HELL, MAN? >> Got to cut it off. >> I can't even build. That [ __ ] trying messes. Ain't >> talking about you. During the process of escorting him to the vehicle, the officers exchanged information and even a witness recognized the man as someone familiar. >> You good? >> I think I almost broke my damn my pinky. Uh, so yeah, I was >> I didn't want to say you okay. >> Does anybody hurt? Everybody good? >> Thank you. >> I thought he broke it for a minute. >> Okay. I know, right? >> I don't know. She >> She didn't know what he >> But she's here, >> right? Our lady this is number four since one time and I want to say three out of four. Oh, no. He'll tell you that every time he feels he like I pay for it. He don't >> Yeah. Mine too. >> It's like the right hand too. >> Yeah. >> I thought I thought he broke it. >> You okay? >> It's hurting like we don't want you jumping on. >> But once the booking process began at the station, Brooks came up with a completely different argument. And this time it caught the officer's attention. >> You have a weapon in this man. Try me. It's a sight. It's a military operation, [ __ ] GET THE [ __ ] OUT. WHAT THE >> YOU SEE THAT? DON'T DO THAT. Don't make me laugh right now. You got that, >> [ __ ] WHAT THE [ __ ] I GOT MILITARY JESUS, [ __ ] YOU [ __ ] WITH ME. I LITERALLY BOUGHT AT WALMART, I literally had fans following me, man. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? What the [ __ ] >> I know. >> What are you trying to do? What are you doing? >> Brooks London was charged with theft by shoplifting, criminal trespass, and obstruction of law enforcement officers. Resisting officers and repeatedly denying what happened can turn a straightforward theft investigation into a much more difficult encounter. Cooperation is often the best way to prevent a situation from escalating further. >> I just after three makes it a felony and you're using your vehicle to further yourself in a commission of a felony. On the 29th of January 2026, officers were dispatched to Target's loss prevention office after staff detained a suspect who had been caught shoplifting. More specifically, let's hear the employees statement. >> Good. Thank you. >> Okay, so we got some tickets for um and >> um she did pay for the one that is with her purse. Okay. And then um [clears throat] she basically took these tags and put them here and then scan it. >> Okay, >> that makes sense. I can show you as well. >> What's the one thing she paid for? >> That was Yeah, >> she can get that repeat. >> Yes. >> You guys have the item receipts from the other time? >> Probably. Yeah. >> Go ahead. Um, also when she was shopping, I did see her select two cosmetics, empty package them. I believe that they're in her purse. Um, like a foundation and like a cream. >> All right. Can you stand up for me, man? >> Put your phone down on the table and turn around. Put your hands behind your back. Spread your feet for me. Spread your feet for me. >> Spread your feet. >> Throw your palms together like Brian. >> Accepting the handcuffs could be seen as an acknowledgement of her wrongdoings, but she showed no remorse. Instead, she still tried to lie to minimize her responsibility. >> You have anything else in your bag that you put in here that you should have put here? >> Not like cosmetic stuff. >> It says something called uh sunscreen. Sunreen. >> Sunscreen's in there. >> Can I grab it out of here? >> Where is it at? >> In front. >> In the center. >> In the center. >> Is that it right there? >> This. Anything else? This your first time taking from Target? >> Yes. >> Sure about that? >> Yes. >> Apparently, it's not. First time you been caught. Are you taking from Target in the past? Have you tag swapped in the past? Yes. Okay. What's the point of taking on this? >> Sorry, my apologies. Sometimes >> Echo 222. >> I saw your purse. You have money. What do you for? >> Yes, sir. >> What do you do for a living? >> Bravo 214. >> You guys want to see? >> Yes. >> Yeah. Do you have any previous times? >> The woman was identified as having committed theft 12 times since 2018, which elevated the charges to a more serious level. The officers also explained this to her. >> All right, so you're under arrest. Okay. Under arrest for shoplifting three or more times within 90 days. Okay. your shop is at least five times from this store within that 90day period. So the total is like seven or eight. Do you have a car here? >> He has a gray Audi. >> Gray Audi. But your five Audi's right here will count this. So it's in a it's in your parking lot. So it's up to you guys what you guys want to do with it. You want to tow it or whatever. You have any family here? >> You have anyone that can pick up your car? >> Anyone that can pick up your car? >> Yeah. $9. >> Where is she at? >> Or call 10:15. >> Echo 222. >> Whiskey box 1050. >> Uh, since you bought this, we'll put this in here, too. Okay. >> Stealing repeatedly over 3 months. Wouldn't you wonder what was behind her actions? It seems like that was also a rather embarrassing question for the woman to answer. >> Do you have like a reason for why you take all this stuff or no? >> No. >> Do you want to talk to us though or >> usually some people have like an excuse for a reason? >> Hard times. >> Hard times like financially. a hard time. >> I'm sorry. I just learned my lesson. I still have >> your what lesson this pink form in your purse right here. This is your trespass warning. If you come back to this target, you will be arrested. Okay. The last times you taken from Target, did you use that same car? [clears throat] Um, I have two great cars. >> You have two great cars? >> My car? >> No, >> no, no. The car outside your car. >> Oh, >> is that car? Is that the car you always drive? >> Yes. Okay. >> She seemed more concerned about her car, which was something she should have thought about before stealing other people's property. Shortly [snorts] after, the officers informed her that the vehicle would be seized. Your >> vehicle? Okay. >> Okay. That's going to be going to the sheriff's office inbound. And um we'll give you all the necessary paperwork on how to treat the vehicle cuz the five times you come to the store, you use that car to steal. After three, it makes it a felony. And you're using your vehicle to further yourself in a commission of a felony. So, under Florida statute and under our policy under season review, okay? But we'll explain all the paperwork and stuff like that formally when we get to the jail. That way, you'll have a very clear understanding of what is happening to your vehicle. Okay. >> Am I going to do that? >> Nope. Like I said, if this is your first time stealing and you know you made a mistake, I can work with you. But after 12 times, you know right from wrong and I can't help you. >> So it forces our hand a little bit after the upte. So this is every single documentation of her stealing 12 pages 12 packets. >> In the end, the woman was charged with felony shoplifting. [snorts] Repeated theft is not a one-time mistake, and continued offenses can quickly lead to more serious charges and additional consequences. Her concern for her vehicle came too late after using it to facilitate repeated crimes. >> FOR WHAT? OKAY. WHAT I'M BEING CHARGED FOR, but they said I'm being charged also for >> On the 30th of March 2024, officers received a report from a Chuck-E-Cheese location about a female suspect who had fled after stealing a credit card. Officers quickly approached her while she was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot, but it seemed she was not willing to admit anything. >> Why am I stepping out? >> Step out, please. >> What? >> You're under arrest. For what? >> For what? >> Help me. OKAY. OKAY. Help me. >> OKAY. WHAT THE are you doing? On the ground on the ground, she been with me the whole time. I got it. I got I got it. I got it. >> Get on the ground. >> Why are we under Come on. >> What am I going to do for her? >> From her denial to her refusal to cooperate, her actions could lead to a resisting charge. >> [snorts] >> Under Florida law, that was classified as a first-degree misdemeanor, and she could face up to one year in jail, up to one year of probation, and a fine of up to $1,000. But the charges against her did not stop there. >> I'm going to jail for stealing. >> How old are you? >> You are too. >> Yeah, >> I can. Theft of mislaid property. And then you're going to also get charged with concepts cuz you're in the car. I don't know when he's using the cart over there. You're on camera. >> I never used the cart. >> Exactly. >> You know where I'm going to arrest him? >> We're working on it. It's not for anything. >> Hey, what's going on? >> No, man. We got pulled over by the police, man. I got I got my son, you know. I got my son with you. I'm going to I'm going to um have him to come. He going to come hold him drop him off to you and then um I'mma call you, man. I'm good, though. I'mma call you. >> He can't come get him? >> Hey, you can't >> Okay. >> Could you Could you come get him? Look, I'm here off the street. I I got my room. I got my room, too. But [ __ ] But you could just hold him. I need you to hold him, man. It's urgent. >> I'm at Sherman Liquor. >> I'm right here at Sherman. I'm right here at Sherman Sherman Liquor. Right here. >> Across the street. >> Across the street. Right here by the um this a store in the plaza. >> Yeah. >> I need you to come right now. Right now. >> You're not guilty. You know what I mean? >> So, I'm going to put you in the back of my car. Huh? >> What happened? >> I'll let them explain to you. >> The man was determined to have no connection to the earlier theft, but he still had to face charges for driving with a suspended license. The officers then explained everything to him. Okay, we're going to mom out of here with the ticket. He's been driving suspended. We're going to give him his tools and stuff back so you don't have to worry about >> So then then how long my stuff going to be in the arm? >> That's up to you. I mean, honestly, with these charges and the no cash bail, I honestly think you guys are going to go out there and walk right back out. >> All right. >> I mean, it's Do you have any record right now or you >> I don't got no I don't got no probation, no parole, no nothing. No bond. >> You don't have any risk of flight. They're probably just going to say, "Okay, here's your court date. See you later." We're at the station or maybe >> No, you have to cuz technically the court you're going to is county for city. So you have to go through the county process. >> So today Saturday. >> Yeah. >> So I don't know I'm going to be in that. >> Like you said there's no cash bail anymore. So if if your charges meet the criteria and you don't have any risk factors on preventing you from going to court, >> they'll honestly probably give you a court date and see what >> Yeah. >> Or would I be able to get >> It all depends on your past criminal history. If you got ongoing cases, you're on probation, parole, you have a bunch of misc court dates, that type of stuff. >> No, I don't got none of that. Yeah. So, uh, sure. It'll prove you no risk. And again, this isn't a bodily harm crime, so I don't see them keeping you. >> All right. So, they do. I'll be shot. >> What about her? >> Same thing. I mean, resisting, they don't really care about. >> So, well, we just got to go on that guy name, but we got to go fingerprint booking. Get the mug shot. Fingerprints. They'll get shot. >> Returning to the female suspect, she was allowed to call her mother to inform her about what had happened. That's >> mom. I'm in a police car. I'm running. But um what am I charging? >> Theft of mislead property and deceptive practice and resisting arrest. >> Charges resisting uh what else? >> Theft of mislead property. >> Theft of mislead property. >> And then deceptive practice. >> Deceptive practice >> and resisting arrest. Oh, no. And I don't get to buy it. >> No. Would you like me to talk to her? I'll tell you tell you what everything's going to happen. >> How old are you? >> This is so stressful. Well, they said that that's me on camera taking a while from Chuck-e-Cheese. That's basically what I'm being charged for. But they said I'm being charged also for swiping a card, but I never swiped a card. But they said I knew what was going on. Man, what happened? >> What happened? I think a Hold on. Yeah, I think I can ask you. Let me um Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'm being arrested. So, I'm going call you when I go to jail. Okay. Can I make one more call? I'm >> talking right now. All right. He's going to talk to you real quick. Okay. >> What stood out was that even while calling her family, she showed no urgency to have someone come pick up the young family member who had to witness everything unfold. The officer eventually had to step in and bring up the issue himself so someone could come and pick him up. >> That's it. >> So, I talked to you've had your son since yesterday. >> Yeah. >> So, what's she going to do? >> Well, she's not happy. >> Yeah, I know she's down. Yeah, but I mean you need to make things right. And honestly, I mean, out of this whole deal, looking at yourself, I would probably be most upset at that. Putting your kid through this, all right, one's not in a booster seat, okay? We're not going to hit them with the unrestrained child cuz that's your responsibility. All right? When your kid's in a car, you get in a bad accident, which we see all the time around here, especially intersections like this. I mean, your kid gets hit, not he doesn't have his chance, all right, out of a booster seat at his side. So, I'd be most upset at myself with just the kid. you took on Chuck-E-Cheese. You're trying to do something good and then it all got changed. All right. Don't let that stuff, you know, now it's going to really hurt your relationship with the mother, your child. >> See how >> and I hope you can figure it out. >> Yeah. >> But yeah, just be smarter about that when you got your kid. When you're doing it by yourself, that's one thing. But I mean, now he's got to see all this and depending how old he is, you never know. He might remember this forever. So just think about that, man. So we don't want to be put in that situation, you I don't want to be wrestling a girl in front of a kid cuz that makes us look like bad guys. Now he thinks the police just fight everybody. So, and it takes all of us to make a generational change. You know, I want your kid to be able to come to us and help. And that now that you put a day in front of you and now he thinks we're going to fight you every time we come into contact with you, right? You know, we're not like that. You know, if she would have stepped out, we would have simply put her in cuffs, put you in cuffs, been done with it. In the end, the woman was charged with theft of mislaid property, deceptive practice, and resisting a peace officer. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a theft investigation into additional charges. Staying calm and following lawful instructions can prevent a difficult situation from becoming even worse. >> Why are you pushing me? On the 17th of October 2025, police received a report about a theft that had taken place. The suspect was believed to be a man who entered Target and went straight to the electronics counter as if he knew exactly what he was looking for. And he did. He asked to see a new iPad. And as soon as the employee brought it out, he suddenly snatched it and ran toward the parking lot. Fortunately, an officer was already there and quickly chased after him. This is what happened next. Don't heat up. Can someone come through here? >> Hey, that wasn't me. >> He trespassed into the kitchen of a store just to escape. At that point, he became uncooperative, causing chaos to break out. >> Why you pushing me? Turn around. Ow. >> Did you get help with Did you get hit with the taser? >> No. >> Huh? >> You hit me alone. >> I'm not resisting. >> Move. Lean. Lean forward. >> Ow. >> Oh no. It hurts. No resisting [ __ ] >> Did you throw anything in here? >> No. >> Did you drop anything? >> No. >> Get up. >> Why are you pushing? Why are you pissing? >> Where's the bag at? That was That was my That was my hoodie. That was my hoodie. Huh? >> Yeah. Let me see it. That's my hoodie with the iPad in it. Bro, I'm not lying to you. Walk, man. I'm walking. You're holding me, dude. >> That's why I was asking. Did he drop anything in there? >> I said my jacket. I had two of my pants. He seemed more concerned about his hoodie, something he clearly did not show when he stole someone else's property. He showed no remorse either. Repeatedly delaying the process of being escorted away and forcing the officers to remind him. >> I'm not running, bro. >> You're not going to run cuz I caught you. >> Exactly. >> Exactly. >> So why are you trying to push me? >> Cuz you're walking super slow. >> Cuz I was running from you. >> Exactly. You're out of shape and you're younger than me by like been there 20ome years. I >> think you have a different life, bro. >> Yeah. >> You know that. Yes, sir. >> Put your feet in. >> Put your feet in. >> Hey, did I connect with you on that on the taser? Did it hit you? It the [ __ ] iPad on me. >> Huh? >> It hit on my >> It hit the iPad instead of you >> in the back. I only felt the little spark. >> Huh? >> I only felt the little spark on the left. On the left, right, but it didn't hurt me. >> It didn't hurt. >> It hit you where? >> In the back where the iPad was in this arm and you shot the iPad. >> So, it didn't touch your skin. It didn't pierce in the skin. >> No. You sure? >> I promise. Even when asked why he stubbornly ran away, he refused to give a proper answer as if he had no intention of taking responsibility for his actions. >> Why didn't you stop? Why you took off when I got by the bus stop? >> My instant, bro. >> Instant because you stole the iPad. You snatched it and ran. >> Dude, I caught you in my boots. >> I know that [ __ ] from school. >> I caught you in my boots, man. >> I don't [ __ ] with him. >> You heard me. >> You're ready. What's your first name? Aiden. >> Spell it. >> B A D as in J. >> As in what? D. >> As in J. S. >> Okay. >> R. B A D. E N M A. B A R V A D. Let me know the amount. >> Hold on. E N. >> See, that's why I asked you to take the time. >> I'm sorry. >> If you give me Hey, listen to it. >> Listen to what I'm saying. >> If you give me Stop stop talking. Let me talk first and I'll let you talk. If you give me your fake name, it's going to be another charge. >> It's I'm not >> Okay. I'm just letting you know. >> That's my real name, fam. G A D E N. >> G A D >> E N. >> E N. Okay. You have a middle name? >> It just starts with G. >> Spell it. >> I don't know. It's just G. >> You don't know your middle name? >> They just call me G. >> Who? Your mom called you G? >> Yes. >> Your mom and dad call you G. But you don't know your middle name? >> No. G. >> What's your date of birth? >> Born 2005. >> Five. >> 2005. with my eyes off you. >> The 20-year-old man was arrested and taken to jail on a $750 bond, facing two charges: felony grand theft and misdemeanor, resisting an officer without violence. The felony theft charge was later dropped by prosecutors. This case shows how running from the consequences can turn a simple theft into additional legal trouble. Taking responsibility and cooperating with officers would have been a far better choice than resisting and trying to escape. You serious? >> Well, you have a pass on your arm. >> Exactly. And I got scraped up knees, too. >> Oh, we got white powder, everybody. >> All right, we'll keep it away from your face. >> On the 25th of March, 2024, officers approached a woman in the Walmart parking lot in connection with a theft that had occurred at the store. Surprisingly, she quickly admitted that she was the suspect, but she did so with a completely cheerful attitude. >> Good. >> Awesome. >> So, what's up? >> Okay. Is this your car over here? No. >> All right. Would you come over here with me? >> Where? >> Over in this way. >> For what? >> So, we're doing an investigation right now. Apparently, somebody walked out with a >> car put in a random car. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that was me. >> Okay. Would you come over by the car with us? >> Whose car is it? >> What do you mean? >> Whose car is it? >> I don't know. >> Me neither. >> Okay, fine. So, where's all your stuff you took out of the store? And >> I just put I put it in a random car that was open. >> In a random car that was open for what? >> What do you mean for what? Because y'all come y'all was coming. >> Okay. Okay. So, you just put all the stuff in a random car you didn't know? >> Yeah, it's a game I was playing. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> What for? >> Um, just for the hell of it. >> Okay. You got any ID on you? >> No. >> I left it in the car. >> Which car? >> We're in a car. I don't know what car it was. >> What color was it? >> Um, silver. >> Silver. >> Right. Something like that. >> So, you left your ID in some random car? >> Yeah. My whole bag. Oh my. >> All right. Makes sense. >> What kind of bag do you have? >> Um, what kind of I think it's a Michael. Can you please not stand behind me cuz you're making me nervous. I was here the whole time. >> Were you? >> No. >> Yeah, he's in the car. >> Well, I'll be damned. >> What was your question? >> What kind of purse did you have? >> It's a Michael Kors purse. Can you go get it for me? >> What kind of vehicle were you driving? >> It's like gray or silver or something. >> What kind of make model? >> Um, I don't know. >> The woman seemed to have turned the situation into a game designed to make things [music] difficult for the officers. She [snorts] showed no sense of guilt and even went on to explain how the game was played. >> Because y'all were coming and I just ran up to the car and put it's a game that we play. It's called 21. It's basically you go and steal all the [ __ ] that you can steal and then you get out without getting caught. Well, I did it one other time than this time, but I got caught this time. So, now I got to figure out where my purse is and where my merchandise is because now I got to give all the merchandise back to Walmart. >> Well, it's not really a game. >> It is a gameft >> to you. That's theft state. >> It's fun, too. It's really fun. >> Oh, going to jail is fun. Okay. >> Well, I suppose. Am I going to jail? >> Well, we'll see how much stuff you took. >> It's a lot of >> So, where's where's the car at? >> I don't know. Okay. >> What's your name? >> It's >> Okay. >> And I don't find it funny. I'm just very bubbly. >> Okay. Did you Is the car yours or are you renting it? >> I don't know whose car it was. >> It's just a random person. >> It's just a random car. Yeah. Like if you walk up to this car. >> Okay. How about you? >> You feel me? It's kind of Oh, it's going to be closed. You never know. You just got to try it out. >> Clearly, she had no intention of cooperating with the officers or helping them locate the missing merchandise. At that point, the officers decided to handcuff her. And strangely enough, she seemed almost happy that it was happening. >> Put your hands behind your back for me. >> Sure. You want that? >> What's wrong? Broken. >> My pinky is so be careful. >> Oh, wait a second. >> We'll get that. We'll get that. >> We'll get Stop. >> Do you have any leg checkers? >> Uh, I have a hobble shack. >> Hey, I have a hobble. >> You do? >> I actually have flex. >> I was just trying to grab my phone. >> You have We can do flex. >> Yeah. >> Y'all going to put me in shackles? Are you serious? Well, you have a cast on your arm. >> Exactly. And I got scraped up knees, too. >> No one said they're going on your feet. >> So, what are y'all putting shackles on me for? >> You got a cast on your arm. >> Oh, >> it's too big for regular handcuffs. >> Oh, okay. >> Look at that. Flex cuffs. >> So, just going to stick these back here. >> All right. Is not too tight for you? >> All right. Let's get anything on you. My phone. That was >> No, I don't have anything on me. >> Okay. So, you're not under arrest right now. You're just being secured so we can conduct our investigation. Okay. >> Do you have anything else on you um >> like on you, in you, anything like that? >> Do you have anything that say you do go to jail that if you go into the jail and they find it on you later, is there anything like that? >> No. A tampon that needs to be changed. You just ask me that question. Well, you keep that. >> Ask the same question. >> My boyfriend's car. My boyfriend doesn't know that I steal >> and he doesn't know that I put all this in the car neither. >> Okay. >> So, I would be really in trouble with him. >> But that's that's the thing. >> So, what kind of car is it? >> I don't remember cuz it's a rental car. We just got the rental car. What color? >> Oh, you said it was someone random. >> Yeah, I know. I lied to you. >> Her her boyfriend rented the car. >> Without realizing it, she admitted details that pointed officers toward the vehicle containing the stolen merchandise. Taking advantage of her attitude, the officers continued questioning her to gather more information. >> Dollar value you stole from >> probably a lot cuz I took a lot of >> Okay. So, basically, you got to put everything in the cart and ring it up and find out the value of it. And then what's the next move? >> And then I then depending on the dollar amount is if you go to jail or not. >> Well, I'm pretty I'm pretty sure I'm going to go to jail because it's a lot of >> Okay. >> So, what's what happens after that? Well, if you're over that dollar amount for felony, >> then you will go to jail for felony amount of shoplifting. >> All right. You'll be booked in a Flaggler County inmate facility. >> Okay. >> And then whatever you do from there, bond out, whatever. It's up to you. >> All right. Can I please call my boyfriend? >> Not right now. >> Okay. Can I talk to the other officer? >> The deputy Sanford? >> Sure. >> She wants to call her boyfriend and I said no. >> Can I ask why? Because right now we're conducting an active investigation. >> What is the investigation I just told you? >> I still have to confirm everything. >> He doesn't know that I stole it. >> Okay. >> So, he's going to get the car. I'm like, what the is this? >> Well, we we're we're with the car right now. There's >> Y'all are >> Yeah. >> What car is it? It's a rental. I don't remember what car it was. >> Okay. Well, we know what we know. >> All right. But yeah, can you turn the AC on? >> I I will. I rolled the window down for you. >> All right. Bet. Just with all this plastic, it's hard sometimes to get air back in. >> If you're wondering whether this woman's mental state was normal, she soon claimed that she had mental health issues herself. But should her claims really be taken at face value? >> I have psychological problems. Like I have mental issues like bipolar, anxiety, depression, all that and schizophrenia. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, do you have a [ __ ] attitude in me or YOU GOOD? CUZ YOU ASKED ME QUESTIONS BUT IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT A ATTITUDE. Are you good? >> Am I yelling at you? >> BUT YOU GOT A [ __ ] ATTITUDE WITH YOUR LITTLE PISSY ASS. Blink blink. >> I'm not yelling at you. >> Okay, but you got an attitude. >> This is just how I am. >> Well, then change it cuz you meet people like me off duty. >> Okay. Is that >> Okay. No, it's not. BUT I'M JUST LETTING YOU KNOW HOW THE REAL WORLD WORKS. >> IT'S NOT. >> OKAY. CUZ YOU'RE A HARD ASS WITH THAT. BUT YOU'RE NOT WITHOUT IT. YES. >> What's in the bag, sir? >> CLO THE [ __ ] DOOR LIKE THAT AGAIN. YOU STUPID. You are noting hard and that's not youring purpose to be an officer. That's still a lot of >> clearly few people with genuine mental health conditions would openly admit to having them. And the truth about her condition soon became clearer when officers located the vehicle and began searching it. >> Oh, we got crystals. >> We got white crystals, bubble pipe, and a safe. You see, >> dude, that's white. This has white crystal in it. Like small small amount, but there's white crystal in it. >> Meth. >> Well, don't break it. very small. >> I'm going to put this on the car. >> Maybe it's not schizophrenic, but you're smoking. >> Oh, they're patches. What is that? >> Yeah. Uh Shabasa, >> it's her name. >> What's the date on it, though? >> Oh, so that's hers. I mean, we got weed in the front. We got probably meth in the back. >> This is good, though. She's >> She's got her name on here. So, I mean, whatever's in the back, I would attribute to her as well. But it didn't stop there. Officers also found a hidden safe inside the vehicle, and everything inside suggested that the woman could be involved in selling illegal substances rather than simply using them. >> That's good. There's nothing in there. I'm muted. I'm muted. So, we're good. >> So, >> all right. Signal zero right out. >> And there's a baggie underneath there. >> What is this? >> Is that a lightsaber? That's a That's a >> Oh, >> I'm rolling. >> That's nice. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. Fun box. >> Oh, we got white powder, everybody. >> All right. We'll keep it away from your face. >> What do you mean? >> So, you want to sniff it. >> Don't inhale it. Trinity. >> This is one of those boxes that Sergeant Weaver found behind the license plate one time. >> Yep. Uh >> kind of. >> Yep. Yeah. It's uh hide a key. >> If I was a bet woman, a ruse of vinyl. >> The woman was charged with retail theft, methamphetamine trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. >> [snorts] >> This case shows how quickly a seemingly simple theft investigation can escalate when officers uncover additional evidence. Cooperating with law enforcement and thinking carefully before making statements can prevent a situation from becoming even more serious. What do you think about cases like this?
