However, the cameras had captured all the evidence and they would still have to face justice. There are the moments when dumb shoplifterss get caught in camera. Starting with this group of women, they all use the same tactic, acting innocent. >> Why are you still taking my stuff? >> Because I'm hydrated. I'm building my I need some water. Please. >> What did I do? Please tell me where I >> What did I do? But what did I do? On the 11th of May 2024, officers received a report from Walmart about a group of people allegedly stealing merchandise to carry out fraudulent returns. One man reportedly managed to escape after successfully obtaining a $400 refund, leaving three women behind. Here's what happened when officers approached the first female suspect. >> Come here. >> Yes. >> Put your stuff on the hood. >> No. >> Pull away. Away. >> Give me your hands. Do not pull away. Put your on the hoods right now. Now you're just being detained while explain. Okay, >> so don't freak out. >> Come on over here. >> Am I going to jail >> right now? If you're being detained and we're just going to put you in the car cuz it's obviously super hot out here and then we'll talk to you in a second. >> Sit down. >> My mom's in there, bro. I don't know. >> Hey, where the where all the ladies you came with? Where they at? >> Huh? I don't know. That's why I'm saying my mom's in there. I don't want to be by sitting here by myself and I don't know cuz I don't I'm not from here either. I don't know where the other people are because they were here with us and they just left. >> Okay. >> Did they do something? >> All right. What is it? Like I don't understand. >> While the woman appeared confused, [music] questioned the situation, and tried to shift the blame onto the people inside the store, her mother was approached as well. She immediately put on the same innocent act as her daughter. >> Don't go too far. >> Don't go too far. Put your hands behind you. >> Okay. I'm not all I didn't do anything. So why am I being arrested? I'm looking for my daughter. >> Your daughter's probably in handcuffs on a far. >> Okay, but I haven't done anything, sir. >> Hello. >> I haven't done anything, sir. Why am I being arrested? >> You're being detained for a >> Okay. And where's my daughter at, though? You never found her. >> What's your daughter wearing? She had a um >> seat. >> This wrist really hurts. It's like swollen with you. You see it? >> What the Why am I >> Hey, Murphy Reed. Didn't you say she had purple hair? the heavy set marijuana. >> The third suspect was still nowhere to be found. So officers tried to gather information from the other suspects. However, it quickly became clear that they had no intention of cooperating. >> You don't even have the AC on. I can't breathe. >> Here you go, bro. Where'd your friends go? >> I don't know. I don't know. I went in there looking for them. I was going to buy some stuff. I put my stuff on the side so I can find them. Stop. >> Hey, check me out. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. >> I'm not >> Stop talking. Stop talking. >> I haven't done anything. Oh, why am I in trouble? >> You going to listen or you going to Do you want to go to jail? >> That doesn't mean you're going to jail. Have the right to stop answering anytime until you talk to the lawyer. Do you understand those rights? >> What did I do? >> Do you understand those rights? >> I do understand those right. I don't. >> All right. Who else were you here with? The guy's name is they call him slimmer gas. >> What? >> I can't hear you. >> They really taught everyone's water. >> Hey, I really need you to answer these questions. I don't have water. >> What's his name? >> His biological name. >> Yeah, I could care less about his street name. >> We came over here cuz he came to pick me up and he said that he was coming to Walmart. I asked him to take me to the hospital or whatever cuz my daughter was right. She's like she's going to go with me. So he's like, "Okay, just ride with me first so I can go pick him up." I was like, "Why?" He goes, "Just in case I can't drive back." He didn't say exactly why. And I was like, "Well, they going to take me to the hospital. Just take me to the hospital. I don't even I didn't want to be involved in anything." >> While the mother continued to deny any involvement, her daughter told a very different story. They do I don't know where how she be doing it or whatever, but she go she does this thing where she I don't know receipt thing and then I don't know where the dude or the dude will go and sign and I guess he returns something and she gets some money for it. >> So like he steals something and returns it. >> Yeah. >> So that's why y'all are here. Not me. I just wanted to ride with them because I don't want to be there by myself outside. I'm not stealing for them and I'm not returning anything. I don't even want to >> Why are you still taking my stuff? >> Because I'm dehydrated. I'm building my I need some water. Please [clears throat] >> out. [snorts] >> Are you on any type of drugs right now? When was the last time that you used? >> I don't use drugs. >> You're just going to lie to me all day today. >> I don't use drugs. >> You've never used drugs. >> It's been a long time. You only place over a year and a half. >> So, the last time you used drugs is a year and a half ago. >> Yes. >> Which would answer the question I just asked you. >> I didn't kill him. >> Thank you. >> And I know my right. Meanwhile, officers searching for the third suspect finally got a lead when they learned she had tried to hide inside a restroom at a nearby store. [snorts] Once again, the same innocent act was put on display. >> Come out. Use the restroom. >> This is the sheriff's office. Come out now, please. >> Huh? Use the restroom. >> Is there anyone else in there with you? >> No. Using the restroom. >> Step all the way up. Step all the way up. Step all the way up. Step all the way up. All the way up. I'm using the restroom. [clears throat] Take away everything. What? What did I do? What did I do? Please tell me what I did. What did I do? But what did I do? I didn't do anything. >> Okay. >> What did [laughter] I do? >> Hey, f from teal to pink. >> What did I do? What did I do? >> Okay, how about this? Where'd you get that pink shirt from? >> I've had this shirt. I had that shirt. I bought that right there. Please, sir. I bought that shirt. Where's the receipt at? >> It's wasn't mine. Look at my bag. >> Which bag, man? >> This one's not mine. This is the girl that I was with. I don't know where she went, though. >> Okay. Your bag is this bag? >> Yeah. No. >> Which bag is yours? >> The two girls I was with. >> There's three bags right here. Help me understand which one is yours. >> I could put my clothes in that bag. And the two girls, where was that? I went and bought food for us. >> Ma'am, which bag is your bag? >> They were in the store, so she got to buy me a bag. >> Okay. You're You're answering questions I'm not asking. >> My phone died, sir. >> Which bag is your bag? You said my bag. Which bag is your bag? >> Can you please listen to me? I need to pick up the ball. >> Okay. >> The woman skillfully dodged the officer's questions and used the same tactic of shifting the blame on to others, but it was clear that she was not fooling them. >> This fine gentleman right here is a representative of Walmart saying that you are on STE uh that this legally came from their store and was stolen. >> Well, I did not steal it. It was in my friend's bag. This her bag. You can ask her. She's over there right now. >> Here's the thing. >> You just stated that you have a receipt for that shirt. >> No, I didn't know. I said I have the receipt for the bag. The bag earlier. You just I did not. I said I have receipt for the bag. >> This is going to be super annoying. >> But what can I do to not have receipts for all my stuff? >> Sir, I have receipts for all of my stuff. >> Just hang out with her real fast. >> Can I please? >> How you doing? >> Hi. >> Are you working Uber by any chance? >> Are you here to pick somebody up? >> Yeah. Brandon, >> you're here to pick uh Can I Can I walk on? Um, so some criminals are doing some crimeing and they're using you to try to help. Uh, can I see? >> Oh my god. What the hell? >> I don't know. You probably couldn't see us in there. >> No. >> That's weird. Oh my god. Good thing I'm done with this job for Monday. >> Yeah, right. >> This is my final day. >> How do I get back to the messages? It popped over to this somehow. >> No. Erase. >> It erases. >> Oh, did he erase it? >> No. No. The Uber erases it for protection. Where uh where's his account information? >> I don't have it. Well, let me see. >> He does seem >> Guys, he knows what time it is. He just uh canceled the ride, but his name on the account was Brandon. >> That's what we'll have. >> Under pressure from the officers, the woman in the orange shirt admitted to several details that further confirmed the woman in the pink shirt was preparing to lie and cover for someone else. >> Did she smoke crack? >> Yes. >> Daughter saying that you know the black >> guys. >> Yeah. I don't The two guy the one with the freckles on the hat. That's the girl with the big titties. They're brother and sister. >> Who you? >> No. People that I swear to God like gave me a ride. >> I swear to God. You can look at the video. >> They said they you know their first name. >> I know their first name. His name is um Bryson. >> Try again. >> No. I swear >> Bryson. That's what he told me his name was. They call him uh Breeze or something like that. That's his nickname. >> The Spanish guy, right? >> Yeah. >> He's darkkinned. Yes, but he thought. >> Yeah, you said that's your brother. >> Who said that? >> Yours. >> Who said that? He You see a stink color on there? >> All right. So, you're with Bryson. Who was the black guy? >> The black guy. That's his brother gave us a ride. I don't know. >> You got in a car with some random people. You don't know who? >> No, I did. The Bryson I know a little bit, but like I met him a couple times. He gave me a ride. >> That wasn't his car. So, he just got in some random person's car. You don't know who they were? That sounds kind of weird. >> His friend, >> but you just got in the car. You don't know who the guy is at all. >> Well, I know the one I told you. >> Um I actually think so. They're both saying that she's getting um somehow getting receipts sent to her from somebody at Walmart for the items that they come in and try to steal. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. So, we might have an inside person printing them and sending them receipts. So, she keeps saying, "Please show me the receipt." Uh, please like, "Let me use my phone to show you the receipt I have on here." >> What is that supposed to do? Exon gets her off. >> Yep. >> Can I say something real quick? >> Yes. You got $23 or 20 23 $24 and change in your purse. The stuff that we just walked back into the store to return to them that you stole, you had more than enough money for. You understand how stupid that sounds? >> Yes. >> Everyone involved was charged with grand theft, lararseny, possession of stolen property, and fraud. The youngest culprit was the only one granted the opportunity for release on bail. The biggest mistake was thinking that lies and shifting blame could protect everyone involved. Once the suspects began giving conflicting stories, each new explanation only gave officers more pieces to connect the entire scheme together. Next, these teenage girls still failed to think they could get away with [music] it because of their age. You understand these rights? So, I've read them. Okay. Do you still wish to speak me? Well, now you're over 18, so you're going to go to jail, too. So, I can call someone. >> On the 12th of May, 2026, police were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report of two girls who had skip scanned 23 items to avoid paying for them. When officers arrived, neither of them showed any remorse. >> Hello. How are we going? >> This is none of that stuff you guys paid for. I'm going just let you look at the video. They've been cool with me. They cooperated and all of that. >> Y'all got ideas? This is them passing the latest point of sale. >> And you cool if they hang out here? >> Yeah, you're being cool. >> Okay. So, first I'm going to read you these things. I'm going ask some questions. Doesn't mean that you are under arrest. Just because you're detained, locked in here. Um, I got to read you this. Uh, so you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can't be used against you in the court of law. Do you have the right to talk to the lawyer? I didn't. Um, you understand these rights. So, I've read them. Okay. Do you still wish to speak with me? Okay. >> From smiling to yawning while listening to their rights, they acted as if the whole situation were just a game, showing no understanding of how serious it was. Even the story one of the suspects later told was almost impossible to believe. >> We clearly have y'all on video. What's up? What's going on? Why? >> So, I started scanning stuff and whenever I got to my cherries, I was like I was getting mad because I scared my cherries and it's like selected the weight or whatever. So, I have to wait for the store associate and I'm sitting there and I'm waiting and she comes and she cancelled it and it pissed me off and I'm like, "Okay." So, that was my first draw. It was done and it's not okay. Okay. For a really bad day. Um, then I have to rescan my cherries. So, I res my cherry. It does it again. And I just I get so mad. I just >> Yeah. [ __ ] pissing me off cuz everything was pissing me off. I was having a very bad day. So you having a really bad day is what led you to not completely scanning everything and not paying >> scanning everything because I will every time I would just sit there and wait for the register the lady from the register. So I put away like I'm waiting this longer. >> Okay. What about the Legos? >> You didn't even attempt this. >> No, I was Yeah, I was mad. I was just I was pissed off. >> I can show you my checking account. I guess pay for everything just fine, but it was a bad place. >> It all came down to the mad that had gotten her into this situation. So, you might wonder what exactly made her so mad. The officer questioned that immediately afterward. >> So, so Jessica's genuinely mad is why >> the whole me checking out situation. Yeah. When I started checking out and it's not just like being easy. It's having me do other complicated ladies and me. She has other people to take care of, but like I mean I'm not being in public's not good. It's been everything is still in my account. I've had no problem paying for anything. >> It's just the fact I was pissed off. >> And what about at the very end when you walk back all the way around instead of going through the park and I didn't wedge my window making me mad too. >> Okay. >> Okay. They were cool about it. So because of the amount I got two, >> you have any weapons or anything like that? >> No. >> No. >> In fact, both suspects believed they would avoid any legal consequences because they were still minors. But the officers quickly shattered that belief when they revealed there was something else that could make their situation even worse. >> So unfortunately, here's what we're going to do. Both of you are going to end up going to jail today. >> What? >> Yeah. You have a warrant. So you're going definitely going. >> Yes. So you have a warrant for possession of alcohol under the age of 20, >> huh? Yeah, you can call someone once you go to jail. So you >> mind? >> So you'll end up being judge and then after that they'll determine what uh what's going to happen. >> Well, this might be a crude. Y'all got really small wrists. Okay, you stand up. Turn around for anybody back. Stick yourself down. We'll be able to come. I'll make sure I come back to you. >> For me, we're going to be in the same area. >> Most likely they'll put it all together the whole time. >> I'm 19. >> Well, now you're over 18. So, you're going to go to jail, too. >> So, I can call someone. >> Yeah, you will be able to call someone. >> All right. So, what we're going to do first, we're going to go get sit in my car. I'm going to have a female deputy come and they're going to have to do a search just because a I'm by myself and I'm can't do that. So, uh we're going to go have a seat in my car and hang out for a little bit. So, >> the search was carried out immediately afterward, but the worst was yet to come. The officer found something else that could add even more charges to their list. >> He has his red part. >> Why is it in your possession? >> Okay. I live with him. We put everything away. Whenever the landlord comes, my purse stays downstairs by the couch and pen was on the couch. Landlord came by. He put his pen in my purse. >> Yes. >> Do you have anything that'll hurt me? >> Do you find your ID? >> Yeah. It's in her pocket. >> Oh, I like these. They're nice. Thank you. And where did you get a synchronized? >> Dang, that's a good sign. I look around. >> So, did you magically spawn your ID as well or do you not still not have it? >> It's my car >> in your car. >> My car. >> Yeah. I don't see you like this again. Get your [ __ ] together because you got too many good things to look forward to. And as you can tell, Walmart. So, um We're going to get We're going to get try to get somebody to come get your This is her phone. >> Please don't bring my car to my mom's house. >> They're going to mess you in. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. You're going to be able to commit. Excuse my language. >> I'm pretty sure I called them both. >> It was $183. >> No, that's still not good. Not good at all. Now, you have that THC pin, too. So, that's felon. It's not like leafy marijuana. That's That's crack. That's felony. So, >> both suspects were found guilty of petty theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. each received a $500 fine, mandatory community service, and a permanent ban from that Walmart. [snorts] Their biggest mistake was treating shoplifting like a harmless game and assuming their age would protect them from consequences. One bad decision quickly became a much bigger legal problem, proving that careless choices can turn a simple theft into multiple charges. Before moving on to the next theft case, let's take a look at this service scam. >> I don't know. Okay. >> Round game. We know you're wearing the room. We already We already know the answer to the question, but it's how how truthful are you going to be? >> On the 24th of November, 2024, officers approached a group of people in a parking lot after receiving a report that they had been staying in a hotel room with no record of a rental. But when confronted, their excuses only made them even more suspicious. >> What's going on? Hey, how you doing? >> So, you guys up in a room you weren't supposed to be in? >> I don't know, though. >> You don't know? How'd y'all get in the room? >> I don't know. I just woke up. >> You just woke up? >> Yes. >> You just woke up in the room magically? >> Yes. >> Negative over here in the cross handicap parking spot. >> So, were all three of you in the room? >> I don't know. I just woke up. >> You don't know if all three of you were in the room? >> Yeah, we were. >> Okay. >> I just woke up. >> You just woke up? >> Yeah. >> So, how'd you get in the room if that wasn't y'all's room? >> You don't know? Were you that drunk? You you couldn't remember getting in last night, but not today. >> So, let's get some information out of y'all. What? How do we How do we get in a room that wasn't rented to y'all? Somebody Y'all One of y'all rented the room, but they didn't have a room. >> Anybody supposed to be in that room? >> You have your ID on you. >> Now, you just opening up the door. >> You have your ID. >> My phone just locked. Literally, I >> ain't none of y'all got no phones and no IDs now. Y'all about Don't play with >> Am I driving? >> Huh? >> Am I driving? >> No. You suspected of a crime. This is why we IDing you. >> I understand that, but I'm trying to unlock my phone. >> They were clearly avoiding the investigation, only making it seem like they were hiding something. The hotel [snorts] staff then provided further statements about their earlier actions. >> All right. You want to tell me exactly what happened again? Like what's going on? >> We supposed to have VIP guests in the region. People went to the door. >> They didn't open the door. So when I got to the door, I opened it. Well, I knocked. He opened the door. >> So I was told they were in a room that shows that nobody was occupying. Correct. >> He said he's a he's a cleaner here and he work started working here about 4 weeks ago. What department? I've never seen him before. >> Sir, I have the operations manager on the phone. He said they need to have some type of payment. >> I know >> for that room. >> Okay. We're working on that right now. This gentleman over in the white works here >> that I'm talking to. The driver is his daughter. >> Passenger is his is her friend. >> He gained access to some rooms. and provided access. >> At this point, the officer directly laid out the allegations against them, but their act of innocence only became more obvious as they seemed completely unfased by the accusations. >> So, basically, y'all are suspecting the theft and services of the building. >> Can I explain it to you, please? >> Y'all in a hotel room and they have no record of nobody checking into that hotel room. Okay. >> Would y'all pay for the room? >> I don't know. I literally just >> I'm about to slap y'all as a head. >> How yall know how you don't know if you pay for the job? >> I don't have a good job. I don't have like that. >> What they got to do? Did you pay for it when you came here? >> That's a simple question. >> Came here. >> I literally was already outside. I don't remember. >> Okay. Do you know he paid for it? >> I don't >> I don't know. >> Okay. >> We just got here. >> Like we came in the car, >> but I don't know what he did. So y'all were never in the room at all. >> Ain't no way. >> Y'all were never y'all were never in the room is what you're saying? >> No. >> Okay. >> Ma'am, you never went in the room either. >> I don't know. >> You don't know if you went in the room or not? >> I don't know. >> I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I I don't know what's going on right now. And all I know is >> do you do realize right now that what you're doing is obstruction? I don't care. >> We could take you to jail just for that. Just going to take us to jail regardless. I don't do something about >> He just literally said that I'm going to slap you in some handcuffs. Did you not just hear him? So that's >> And I'm I'm advising you that's called obstruction. >> Okay, that's cool. >> Okay. So, I'm going to ask one more time. Tell me what's going on. Did y'all stay in the room or not? Tell me what happened. What time you got here? What time you left out of the room? >> Don't even remember. >> How many days were y'all here? talking about days. I JUST GOT HERE DOWN. What are you doing? >> Their answers seemed unbelievably implausible and their continued evasion could lead to an obstruction charge. So, the officer took action. >> Get out of the car. Get out of the car. >> I'm out of the car. Okay. Step out. >> Yeah. This [ __ ] >> Can I at least put on >> Step out. Step out. >> Get out the box. Get out. Don't reach for nothing. Okay. Step out. >> I'm just trying to put on the um boxers. Can I put on my ass? >> Yeah, my mom. I'm not going to get >> This is your daughter. >> This your father? >> Yes. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Put your phone down. Put all that stuff down. >> Okay. Get the [ __ ] out of the car. Just shut up. >> Letting you know this is how I >> face away from me. Face away. Put your head by your back. >> All you got to do is answer the questions that are asked of you. But but you want to play you want to play this game and that's what put you in this position. On that I was sleep. >> You were asleep where? >> In the bed. >> In the bed. >> In the bed. I said y. >> Now we're >> So that's that's that's where the problem is. >> You want to play this back round and round game. We know you were in the room. We already as we already know the answer to the question, but is how how truthful you going to be? I just got funny. >> They detained. >> Yeah. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. How the do he get in the car before I do and I have on shorts this [ __ ] >> He want it. >> Okay, but I'm cold. >> You should have thought about that before you did. Uh, >> what are you talking about? I should have thought about anything. No, I What I was thinking about was my birthday. That's what I was thinking about. >> You want to have a seat in my car? >> I would like that. Thank you. >> It seemed [music] difficult to get any useful information from this woman. So, the officer turned to the other woman who had a few details about what happened. Why you just won't tell me the truth about the room? >> Who's lying? I just woke up. How many times have I said it? >> I'm asking you very simple questions. >> Okay. >> When did y'all get here? Let's start with that. >> I don't know. It was sometime last night. I just woke up. >> All right. So, y'all got here. >> No, it was this morning. I don't know. I just went to sleep in I don't want to go too fast. Okay. Okay. I'm sorry. >> You say y'all got here sometime last night. >> It probably was this morning. this morning 2 or 3:00 a.m. >> No, I don't. Um I don't know. It's her birthday, right? You can see that we went out, right? I don't know. >> And you have to guess what time you say y'all got here. >> I can't even guess. I'm not even going to lie to you. I don't know. >> Okay. >> But >> what room did y'all stay in? You know what floor you went to? >> Were you all drinking last night? >> Yeah. Last night. >> Were you drunk when you got here? >> Uh-uh. >> Okay. But you don't know what floor you went to or nothing >> cuz then after that when when we did here I started drinking and then that's why like I started drinking and stuff. >> Uh who is he to you in the white right there? >> Oh then my dad. >> You're a biological father. >> Okay. >> But my close enough kind of you well not biological but >> most people don't party and hang out with their daddy is why I'm asking. >> Oh no I do. So y I think y'all are in a dating relationship. >> That is my dad. >> No kind of romantic relationship, but he's not your biological dad. >> Uhuh. >> I mean, [snorts] >> but I said close enough cuz he like my dad, but he just >> does he raise you or something? >> Yes. >> Uh what he what's his business here? Does he work here? >> Yes, he does though. >> What does he do here? >> Uh I don't know. I >> whether the man mentioned was actually an employee. There remained a question that needed to be answered. But the more officers looked into it, [music] the more signs of deception they uncovered. officer said y'all were trying to leave in a hurry. What was that? >> No. Oh, cuz I just woke up and he just said, "Come on." So I said, "All right, everybody." >> The guy just said, "Come on." >> Yeah. He said, "Everybody get up." Hello. And I said, "Okay." And then soon as we walked out the door, it was just a bunch of people standing in the hallway congregating like taking trying to take pictures and what the y'all doing. I'm like, "What the hell?" But I I literally just got up. >> So, and I'm still confir I'm confused. You saying this is your dad, but he's not your dad. He's like your dad, but he's not your biological dad. >> Not my biological dad. >> Most people don't. If most girls your age hanging out with their home girl for their birthday, not going to be with their dad. You know what I'm saying? That's kind of confusing to me. >> I mean, I get it, but that is like my dad. [ __ ] >> Y'all not in a romantic relationship at all. Nothing at all. >> That's my dad. >> Okay. >> All right. Wait. What was your name again? >> I gave you a piece of paper. Taylor Ransom. >> Taylor Ransom. Okay. Were you willing to speak with me without prison? What's your name again, sir? >> You wish to speak for me without a lawyer prison. >> You don't belong to housekeepers. >> This one is really old. His plan to use counterfeit money and then exchange the merchandise for real cash collapsed the moment the store uncovered the scheme. Instead of cooperating, running from police only turned a bad decision into even more serious consequences. Next, this woman was caught shoplifting while also trying to hide seven active warrants against her. >> Do you guys have IDs? >> No. >> Nothing with your name on $100. >> That thing alone was over 200. So, >> it's so coined. We're so >> On the 9th of August 2026, police approached a group in the Walmart parking lot after receiving a report of a woman in a white shirt and blue hat suspected of taking merchandise without paying. Here is what happened when officers confronted them. >> How's it going? >> Got to let you know my camera is on and recording. Okay, I know you guys are packing up, but you guys got to get all this stuff out of the car. You got to go back. All right. >> I just got this from Walmart. >> All right. Whatever's in the trunk. >> They said you guys made some purchases, but they >> specifically said blue hat. >> Like you didn't take that from the store. Sorry. I'm I appreciate you guys being cooperative. >> I will call each other right now. I got that from my mom cuz I just moved. >> But none of that's in the trunk. >> No. >> No slushy in the trunk? >> No. >> No need. I mean, you heard on the radio what they're saying was taking, bro. Is there any other items? Like we're trying to we're trying to like >> That came from Best Buy. This came from the um >> The only thing that you guys are claiming to have purchased from Walmart is that TV. >> Yeah. Do >> you guys have a receipt for that? >> They told us you stop. They stop you at the front and then >> No, he didn't stop you. >> With merchandise from different stores found inside her car, the question was whether any of it had been stolen as well. Suspicion only grew when the woman failed to provide her own information. >> Let me check real quick. >> Do you guys have IDs? >> No. >> Nothing with your name on car 33. Um, okay. >> What's your name? >> Uh, Diane. >> Diane. What? >> I'm sorry. >> Is this how you spell it? >> Yeah. >> What's the date of birth? >> What's the most recent atmosphere? in Jersey. >> No, I'm trying to think. >> It's okay. >> I'm sorry. Let me give you my um I'm call my address. I need to >> Yeah, hold on. >> What's um >> Oh, I'm sorry. I got address. What's up? >> What's happening? >> So, Walmart pulled us down here cuz they for a suspected shop. They identified you guys. They were watching you guys on camera. They said they stopped a group at >> They was watching who? >> I guess you're >> Were you guys in the car or >> They said they stopped you at the at the front. >> Could you tell me? >> Could you tell them to come out and tell me that they >> Well, that's right. We have We have one of our guys that are inside watching cameras. >> My husband right now. >> Stunt. Do you have a social? Do you know your social by any chance? >> No, not by heart. Hold on. >> Is that my phone? >> No. Hold on. I'm telling you from some deer. No, we answer the phone. >> Do you have a middle name? >> Uh, yeah. >> What's the middle name for you? >> Uh, it's Nicole. >> As more time passed, the women became increasingly anxious. If they had done nothing wrong, why were they so nervous? [music] The officers explained what they were doing and why they were conducting the investigation. >> Y'all up. Huh? >> No. >> No. No. So, like, so we have to run you and make sure you have no saying in the morning that, which we're doing with whatever information you gave him. >> Okay. >> Um, >> so it looks like they just they obviously they want their stuff back. >> I'll give you >> um and then they're going to they they have a form. They want you trespass. >> All right. >> Sign it right now. >> Trespass on the store. >> They're not going to sign it right now. >> They're going to bring it out. Our guys bring it out. All right. Trying to make it as easy as possible. >> I'm trying to get dumb ass. >> You need help trying? Yeah. I wanted the TV. >> I don't know why you guys were hanging out so long because obviously we on the way. >> I didn't want the TV to fall. >> I got I know y'all probably >> Yeah. It wouldn't fit in the car. So I said I don't know how far. >> I mean >> I don't know. We women. We don't know what the hell we doing. That's right. >> I think it might or >> should it be like like this? >> Like how the car on. >> In addition, the store confirmed that the merchandise the women had previously claimed was theirs was far from the full amount taken. Yet, they showed no shame at all when confronted with this information. >> Basket. Apparently, they're asking >> that [ __ ] right there. Put that over. They say something like that. The same thing is right there. >> Oh, is that stuff? >> No, that's garbage. That's mine. >> Oh, okay. That right there. That's all garbage that just came out of my car. >> All right, miss. Um, >> so because of the amount that was was taken, they want to pursue charges. >> All right. So, I guess I'm getting locked up. >> I don't know. How much is it? >> It's over $200. That thing alone was over 200. So, I coined for the only person's up to >> All right. Well, I ain't going to argue. I'm going. I'm just Her reaction suggested that she either bought the merchandise without even checking the prices or never intended to pay for it in the first place. At this point, the officer took action. >> So, what what where ain't nothing but my truck. >> Put the put the drink down. >> Um, we're just going to process her miss. >> I'm about to put the trick in the car. >> Let's give it to her. Oh, >> she going to be released. What? >> Yeah. >> So, have you ever been arrested in the state of New Jersey? >> Yes. >> You have? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, how uh how long ago? >> Like a year or two ago. >> A year? >> All right. So, it it all depends on the uh the amount of times you've been arrested, but most most like most likely um we'll process you and we'll figure it out from there. Most likely be able to know where they are. >> No, I don't even want them on. >> I'm just going to search you, okay, with the back of my hand. to do follow up. >> So we have to do we have to do like a photograph and then we'll have to do the complaint the charge once we do the charge on the system will give us a number and that >> in the end the woman was arrested for shoplifting while officers also discovered seven outstanding warrants from six different jurisdictions totaling $7,050. Stealing is one thing, but pretending nothing happened only makes the consequences worse. Once the evidence catches up with you, excuses and nervous reactions cannot erase the crime. Next, this woman thought hiding inside could help her escape the consequences. >> Placed under arrest >> for what though? I didn't shop. >> But I didn't shoplift. I wasn't even there today. >> I'm not running from you. >> Yeah, just turn it. On the 26th of March 2024, police were dispatched to Shopright after receiving a report of a theft and return fraud committed by a woman. [snorts] Unfortunately, the store only discovered the incident after she had already fled the store. When officers arrived, the staff had conducted an investigation through the store's surveillance cameras. So, it was brought to my attention that this morning there was a suspicious female came to selfch checkckout, only paid for $36.27 27 cents worth of merchandise. >> Mhm. >> But everyone said that she had bags full of groceries. >> Okay. >> So, I went back and I reviewed it and sure enough, she had selected about $182.3 worth of merchandise. >> Okay. >> As well as a $44.99 item that she returned that she selected from the sales floor. So, altogether it comes to 22702. So, I have all of the information here. I'll bring it up for you. What is that uh returned item that you talked about? >> So, the returned item is >> the Mario Kart. So, it's a toy. She grabs it from aisle 8, >> comes right up, goes right to courtesy, returns it. We have a policy purchase. >> Yeah. Without a receipt, we can give you a gift card. >> Okay. >> And that's what we did. So, we returned 97 gift card with 298 tax. >> So, she essentially just got free money for it. >> Okay. Um purchase that 65 whiskey lima >> the purchase >> for what she did get >> and then I gave you a copy of everything that she selected. So, the way I do my investigations >> are I follow them from the time they enter the store to the time they exit. And everything they pick up, I write it down. And then I go around, grab pictures of the items, go to the register, and actually get a physical receipt for you guys. >> Beautiful. >> So, I'm going to start with this is the female. >> Okay. >> I have two. >> Pay with a credit card. She paid with She did pay with a credit card, but we only at the last four digits of a card. >> Okay. >> Continuing to review the surveillance footage, the store employee was able to point out each of her actions >> from aisle 7, walking up with the item, walking to courtesy, returning the item, and then going to selfch checkout. So, this is her right here. The orange reddish item on top is the item she had selected from the aisle. >> That's the Mario Kart. >> Mhm. That's the Mario Kart. And you can see bags full of merchandise there. >> Mhm. >> The dog food she actually does pay for as well as the milk, the bagels, which >> are those annotated separately? >> Yes. So, I have the This is stuff that was paid for. >> Yep. This is stuff that was paid. >> This is stuff that was not paid for. >> Yep. So, this receipt is unpaid. >> This receipt here is the return fraud. >> This receipt is what she purchased. So, you can compare and see what was >> beautiful versus what wasn't. So, the dog food she pays for bagels, milk, and English muffins are the things that she actually does pay for. So the total of unpaid goods >> the total of unpaid goods is 22702 and that is pre-tax. >> The total unpaid goods is 182. >> Oh yeah 183. The return is 44. >> Okay. >> Correct. >> So she walks up here. She explains her story. Uh which the cashier was not here so I couldn't find out exactly what she said. Most likely just a standard I don't need it anymore. >> He then takes the item. They moved to this register, which I have video of the actual register counter as well. So, >> based on the images provided by the store, officers were able to track down the woman's home. She appeared to understand exactly what was happening and was already trying to avoid it. >> Can I You mind stepping on the dog with us? >> Excuse me. >> Do you mind stepping out the dog? >> The window. Hold on one second. >> Back up. Back up. Back up. She for sure 41 27. >> Hi. Can I help you? >> Yes. Uh, were you at shop right earlier today? >> Yesterday I was. >> Yesterday? >> Yes. >> Okay. Did you happen to not purchase any of them? >> Let me put them outside. I'm sorry. Come here. Ma'am, >> if you can [laughter] just step out, we can have a conversation with you. That would be better. >> Don't forget to uh Miranda. Mhm. At this point, if it looks like we have trouble call her asking questions, >> I mean regardless of what she says, right? If we have the >> stop refusing to follow me, so I'm sorry. I'm actually just I'm babysitting the little puppy, so that's like a nightmare. >> But yes, I was there yesterday. >> Okay. Uh do you want to step outside and talk to us? I I don't know. I'm a little nervous cuz I don't I' I've just heard that it's better to talk from inside. Like I just >> Okay. >> All right. Well, um I'm going to read this to you really quick. >> Sure. >> Okay. >> It was suspicious that she tried to hide inside the house instead of directly facing the officers at that point. She also openly denied having any involvement in the shoplifting incident. >> Um yes, I do. I don't have anything. >> Okay. So, >> cuz I'm confused as to why Shopright has to do with anything. >> Okay. So then when you went to Shop, right, you didn't end up like not purchasing anything. Everything you purch or everything you had in your cart, you purchased. >> Yeah, I all I got I think all I got was I just put it away was a a brownie kit and bagels. That's all I got. >> Okay. And then did you happen to go and get uh an item and then return it without purchasing it? Okay. All right. Well, do you mind stepping out and talking to us now? >> No. >> Okay. Okay. >> Well, do you want to respond to to headquarters for me? Uh >> sure. What? What do I do there? >> Uh, so you're going to be placed under arrest >> for what, though? I didn't for shopifting. But I didn't shoplift. I wasn't even there today. What's What's your first name again, man? >> Danielle. >> Danielle. All right, Danielle, step outside the house. >> No, I'm going to meet you there. But sir, please. >> That's not how it works. You're under arrest. >> I I Wait, I didn't do anything, though. >> Danielle, >> I would like Okay, you said that I could call my lawyer. I'd like to call my lawyer, but I will come there. You said you just said talk to your lawyer afterward. >> You just said I could meet >> with losses totaling 227.02. $02 in evidence provided by the store. Officers had sufficient grounds to arrest the woman. She eventually agreed to face the officers, but now she wanted them to speak with her lawyer instead. >> What's going right now? >> He's right here. The cop is right here. >> So, you let me know talk what's going on. >> My husband, >> sir, your wife's being arrested for shoplifting. Go call you when she's done with everything that's going on. All right. All right. Thank you. Hang on. Let's go. >> He said he SAID YOUR WIFE NEED CALL HIM. WE'LL CALL YOU WHEN IT'S DONE. Step out of the house. >> Can I take one hit of this? It's just a beep. It's not It's not It's just regular beep. >> Do you have anything else on you? >> I'm so sorry. I did not mean to do that. Can I lock Can you lock that, please? If you press the top button, press all the way on the top. >> All right, then. >> Push that. >> Down one. >> No. No. All the way around top. Put your hands behind your back. >> And then just turn the Can we Is there any way we could do this in the car? Like I'm not like I'm not Oh my god. I'm not running from you. Yeah, just turn it the top part. Yeah. The like the Yeah, turn to the left. Although she tried to deny her actions, her anxious reaction to being arrested suggested that she was afraid of being exposed. >> Yeah. Like if you press that button and then turn it to the left. >> Did it go all the way though? Okay. Thank you. >> Went from spinning. >> Can you just grab my phone, please? >> I'm sorry. >> I thought I'm sorry. I thought he said >> I'm sorry. I'm really nervous. I've never been arrested before. Like I'm really nervous. >> It's okay, man. >> All right. walking. >> We're going to go to right here. >> Stay right there for me. >> Here. >> Yep. [ __ ] What is going to happen now? >> You're going to get fingerprinted and processed. We're more than likely going to get released on summon. >> Oh, yeah. I don't have >> I don't have any pockets for anything. >> Turn off. >> No pockets. >> No, no pockets. I have no bra on either, >> so there's nothing in my bra. >> She was arrested for shoplifting and theft by deception involving approximately $182.03 03 in unpaid merchandise and $44.99 from the fraudulent return totaling $227.02. She was ultimately released on a criminal summon. Trying to avoid the police does not make the evidence disappear when the evidence is already documented. The smarter choice is to remain calm, exercise your right to remain silent, [music] and seek legal counsel. >> I didn't do that on purpose, mister. Please. I've never been arrested in my life. I never been protected in my life, mister. I didn't I swear I didn't do it on purpose. >> On the 15th of June 2024, police received a report of a woman shoplifting at the selfch checkout. A team was dispatched to the parking lot to stop the people accompanying her as they loaded the merchandise into a vehicle. >> Yeah. What's going on? >> Copy this one. It's a car. >> Oh yeah. >> Can you push this one for me? >> I'm in between 15 and 16. You want to push this one for me? >> Yeah, I'll push that one. >> All right. That up first. I just have to come to the floor. >> All right. >> What about that grill? >> That's fine. >> I got my receipt. So when y'all go in there, y'all can see it. >> Look, that's Look, I just got here. I have no idea what what did >> I was making a Which one you want me to push? >> This one cuz it's heavier. >> All right. information 404. All units will be 44 out of New York. >> The merchandise was then taken back to the loss prevention office where the main suspect was already seated. Suspecting the woman in the white hoodie was also involved, officers tried to gather information from her. >> Show it to the >> No, but I think I dropped it. So, I want to see if he needs it. Yes. What's your social? >> You need my social for she said the same thing. So in New Jersey when you see your social I want to run you over and check you for once. >> Oh why why you want to check for >> I didn't shoplift for damn thing. >> Yeah. >> We know we know that. >> So if I got a warranty No. I don't want y'all to get my sister. I got a warrant and I ain't shoplift. >> Well you're with your sister who did shoplift. >> That have I y'all can see we separate. I paid my stuff. That has nothing to do with me. We're trying to figure out right now the stuff that they saw on camera. >> He said he going to pull it up and tell you right now he's figuring out right now doing the investigation. >> So what's going to happen? I don't want to get involved in both. [snorts] No. I don't mean to put you through the other. >> The officer then confirmed that $330 worth of merchandise had not been paid for by the woman in black, while the woman in the white hoodie was allowed to leave after proving she was not involved. [snorts] The suspect showed no shame and instead begged to be allowed to leave. $329. So you're getting to arrest for a shot. >> I didn't do that on purpose, Lisa. >> Please. I've never been arrested in my life. >> I understand that right now. It's a fourth degree crime. So we have to go forever. >> Please. I I never I never did nothing in my life. >> Don't seem like a bad person. >> No. And honestly, I'll just stand in the way I did it. >> It's unfortunate what happened today. >> Oh my god. I told you when I saw the receipt 116, I'm like, "Oh." >> Her repeated and hesitant statements only made her less credible. At that point, the officers were certain of their decision and proceeded with the arrest. >> Oh my god. >> Please, sir. I swear to God. >> I know. Please. I want my family. I don't want my family things. I I swear I didn't try to steal nothing. You don't have to tell me. >> Oh my god. >> I didn't realize I had no >> She claimed it was a mistake, but that was just her trying to convince herself of it. Even after the officers explained the situation and showed her the footage from the cameras, she still refused to accept what had happened. >> To y'all, I'm not lying. Like I said, I was standing when I saw her. I thought and then I was over. If I was trying to kill, I would have been out when I >> I just I just watched video >> and it was pretty clear that some of the items would not over the years. Please just give me a chance. I didn't do that. >> Can I tell my friend who has my car? On the 26th of July 2023, deputies were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot after receiving a report about a suspect, Molly Elizabeth Money, who had been caught concealing merchandise in her purse. After speaking with the victim, officers immediately suspected another guest staying at the property. When they arrived at the scene, they had surveillance footage supporting that suspicion. So just just so you're aware too, I obviously she wants the money back. Um, we did see the unknown, a black female on video taking your purse at 1:20 a.m. She left and then she returned it at 1:34 a.m. on the 20th of this month. Um, you mentioned that you were missing $900 when she when it was returned somewhere in between that time. Um, did you want to prosecute this female if you get your money back? >> If she returns the money, the full amount of the money, she won't face any charge. >> Okay? I haven't >> What do you do for work? >> Okay. My mom and I don't have anyone helping me right now. >> Do you think she was trying to make herself seem sympathetic so the officers would feel sorry for her? because while explaining her situation, she began admitting what she had done. >> So when um I came in um I saw the bag and then I thought about it um I went up and then I said maybe I should get it and hold it till the morning but then um I got it. I went upstairs and I I didn't know who I would give it to. I don't know if there's an office or anything. So, normally like I wouldn't too, >> right? >> See? So, the amount of money that you took out of that bag. Are you able to >> Are you able to return all the money? >> I I can return the money. >> Well, the money that you have, but do you have all the money that was taken? Like I said, I was just getting up to go to the bank. >> At this point, officers began recovering the victim's money while the suspect waited inside the patrol car. As the wait continued, the pressure became too much for the woman and she began to cry. >> Ethan right now. It's It's slow right now, but as I was today. >> Really? It's slow right now. Believe us, we're not. >> I've got dog. I've got cats. >> I I wouldn't call animal care and control if it was something different. >> In the end, Catherine was charged with grand theft. We know that you did not. We got two reports from both of the restaurants saying that you did not pay. I have you on camera. >> We didn't steal anything. >> Food. >> If you don't pay for your food. >> On the 26th of May, 2025, deputies received multiple reports from restaurants across Monroe County about two suspects, 24-year-old Dana Eimenco and 32-year-old Roman Romangh, who allegedly left without paying after dining. Their unpaid bills totaled nearly $400 at one restaurant and at least $250 at another. Officers then began gathering details about what had happened by interviewing the restaurant staff. >> I mean, they had been coming in and out all night. >> And they would both come out and they would smoke and they would go back in and they would both come out and smoke and go back in. And then they order dessert and they would both go to the bathroom. So them both getting up at the same time wasn't abnormal cuz they've been doing it all night. Then they ordered dessert and he came back. She walked out. He came back and sat down and then he left and then they were never to be seen again. >> So after they ordered dessert, that's when they just kept going back and forth. >> No, they went back throughout the whole day. Um, cuz normally we are primarily, as you can see, we're primarily reservation only. We have most of the people, we have their name and phone number, but when they're a walk-in like that, we don't take their information. We just need them. >> KCN 8727. >> So, those are two bottles. >> Yep. >> Florentinez was an appetizer. appetizers. >> But they had two bottles of wine. >> Okay. All right. So, next question. Would you like to press charges? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I went down to the brewery and I let I said, "Please let me know if this ratchet ass couple comes in here." She's got a white shirt on. It says 1994 across the neck and they just look like they fall out of the gutter. >> Okay. >> Um, but that's the only place that I can go. >> Okay, that's fine. I'll just do my investigation. I'll just go around a mile trying to see if they do pop up. Later that evening, a patrol deputy stopped a blue Volkswagen for a tail light violation. Coincidentally, the occupants turned out to be the same suspects connected to the alleged dine and dash incidents. Here's what happened next. >> I'm fine, thank you. >> Hi. Good. How are you? >> I'm better, thank you. >> 6103 code for Can I have your driver's license, registration, check for the 86 mile marker? >> Thank you. Is that her driver's license? Is that her ID? And you paid cash? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> He insisted that he had paid at both restaurants, but took a long time trying to remember how much he had supposedly paid. The amount he eventually gave wasn't even enough to cover the bill at one of the restaurants, prompting the deputies to directly accuse him of lying. >> I'm not going to lie to you. You did not pay for either of those. Okay. We know that you did not, >> sir. We know that you did not. We got two reports from both of the restaurants saying that you did not pay. I have you on camera with that shirt on at marker 88. >> So >> So what? I left the cash. >> Okay. You did not pay, sir. You did not >> the table. >> You did not pay for your tab. That's why they called us. They don't call us for no reason. >> No, I understand. >> Okay. >> I left cash and we left. >> Okay. Well, I'm letting you know. Go ahead. >> Like my sergeant said. Okay. How about the second restaurant? >> Which one? >> Sorry, just confusing me. >> Okay. She said it. She was talking about the lunch spot. Mhm. >> All right. Then she asked you about dinner. You said you paid cash at both. >> Yep. >> All right. We know you didn't pay at that one and we know you didn't pay at that one. >> Let me ask you just just how do you know that? Have you been there? >> Yes, we actually have receipts and everything from both places. We got camera footage at both places. >> So, no, it if it was a mistake, that's fine. And we can talk to them and we can explain that. >> No, no, I don't want to. No, no, that's fine. >> I just want like paid and then like just randomly like someone pull me over and saying that I'm not I didn't pay. >> Okay. You didn't pay either of those? I can tell by your >> standing in front of me like I'm just very naked. Yeah. >> You weren't close. >> Moments later, the female passenger was questioned separately. She was asked many of the same questions, but her answers appeared even more vague and inconsistent than the drivers. >> Okay. Did you pay for your meal before you left at both restaurants? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? Okay. You either did or you didn't. You can't leave the restaurant until you pay. That's kind of >> I have a husband. >> Okay. Well, I pay for my own meals. >> No, I'm not. Never. >> No, you didn't pay. >> No, never. >> Okay. Did you see your husband pay? >> No. >> No, you didn't see him pay. Like my mom called me and we're I just left. >> Okay. Okay. So, you didn't see him pay a lot either at the restaurant? >> I not looking at this. Never. >> Okay. How does he normally pay for things? With his credit card? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. With his credit card. Kids have a crash sometimes. Like once once like sometimes. >> Okay. So, you know, you both didn't pay. >> Really? >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, you both didn't pay and the restaurants both called to let us know that. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> So, and what I was trying to explain to your husband is if he was being honest with me, >> I have a card. I can like >> Okay, just hear me out. >> If he was being honest with me, I can help you guys and hopefully talk to the restaurant. Okay, >> please. >> Could I do that? >> Yeah. >> Okay.
