Hey, put your hands. >> You're arrested. >> I didn't do anything. [applause] You're arresting an innocent bystander. >> No, cuz you have no right. What is your legal right? Call me nor the >> I told her I just take put everything together and drop anything and that's it. When it comes to theft, what? That's not me. I don't. Yeah, that's why this right here was very shocking to me. >> Do I come across as a nice person? The answer to this is no. >> Okay. Does it look like I have sympathy for you? Behind reports of a shoplifting incident, there was the serious arrival of the police. But to those causing trouble, it was a game they believed they could outsmart. What was the outcome? Everything was revealed in today's video. Cops versus dumbest shoplifterss thinking they're playing game. Every moment was recorded, turning each case into a tense, gripping story. We were This is Law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. First, meet a shoplifter who hates lies. >> Huh? glasses from the night. >> We'll explain everything later cuz >> I did something wrong. You know what I mean? Like I get it. But >> that's not how >> On January 27th, 2025, police received a report of a theft that had occurred at Target. The suspect was believed to be a woman who attempted to take $6,000 worth of merchandise without paying. The moment police appeared likely made her visibly uncomfortable. But it was a high mountain. Okay. >> It wasn't my fault. >> You said you weren't calling the cops. >> Yeah. Alerted them. So, but you have to sign right here. >> I'm not signing a blank piece of paper. >> All right. Well, I mean, you still got to deal with them. >> Yeah. Clearly. Yeah. >> Like, thanks for lying to me, dude. >> Do you have your ID or driver's license? >> No, I just gave him the information I had. I don't have an ID. I'm trying to catch you from homeless. Like, this is crazy. I didn't know that he promised he wasn't calling the cops, but not >> I wasn't stealing just to steal, sir. >> But you were stealing, right? >> It was known that she admitted her actions to store employees, but she showed no remorse at all and even continued to cause trouble while police were doing their job. >> What's your last name? 341. I say you try to spell your first name. >> You say Lisa. >> Teresa. >> Spell it. >> T R E. >> Teresa. Do you have a middle name? >> Am I going to jail right now? >> I don't know. >> Are you guys arrested? >> I don't know. >> What do you mean you don't know? How do you not know? >> Cuz I don't know what happened yet. I haven't talked to them. I'm just asking you for your information. >> I just want to know if I'm going to >> Yeah, I know you're in a huge rush. >> I'm in a rush that >> I don't know if you're going to jail. I haven't talked to him yet. >> Okay. >> Have you heard me talk to anybody but you since I walked in here? So, slow down. >> Okay. >> You're not going anywhere till we're done. >> Yeah. Clearly. >> Clearly. >> Uh what's going on? She was shot coming in, had a huge bag. She started putting merchandise in her bag as she was walking the floor. Found her bag. And after that, she came up to the front, passed all the check lanes, went downstairs without paying for it, and that's when we brought her. >> How much? 664. >> What do you guys want? You want to arrest it? >> That was the store's decision, and police acted immediately afterward, but her attitude still stood out clearly. >> Stand up. >> After all, this could probably be good. the bag around your bag. Okay. >> Okay. >> Huh? >> We'll explain everything later. >> You have like an internal thing where you trespass them or you have like intern. >> Yeah. Because in DuPage County, Bob Berlin attorney out there, they have people that have been trespassing >> and commit to try to start doing that. So I was so that just let >> female 95 can we have the female meet us at the station? for Saturday. I know he was a repeated offender. >> That's like let our guys know. >> Gotcha. >> Because I like I told him I scream. They're not going to get shot. >> Can I put my phone? Can you put my phone in my bag, please? >> In your bag. >> Yeah. >> I just >> Oh my god. >> I want my bag and my purse. >> Thank you. >> Nothing illegal in there, right? That we have to worry about. >> Sure. >> Guys, we're going to search >> at that moment. The woman was escorted to the patrol car. She showed no reflection on her wrongdoing and continued to express her irritation toward the employees for calling the police. >> I'm not signing that piece of paper cuz there's nothing on that piece of paper. >> Okay. >> So, got like that. >> Okay. >> He lied to me. Obviously, not that it matters. I did something wrong. You know what I mean? going to get it. But that's not how it played out. >> You let know just to check the videos cuz they see eyed mine last time because I didn't see it at first. The video. >> While other procedures were being carried out, police attempted to search her for safety reasons. But her behavior suggested this was far from her first time going through it. >> Got nothing on you that's going to stab. How come you guys took your uh names off? No, I don't think so. >> No, you don't think so? >> I don't think so. >> Usually I would know what's >> Oh, I got a knife. I do have a knife on me. That's not my fanny pack, though. That's not going to stab me. >> Where's Where's your fanny pack? >> Uh needles. No. >> Things on the ground. >> Oh, please don't copy. 96. >> Oh, wait. You don't take off the uh Target card in there. >> 104. >> I have a Target gift card. I know the irony of it all. >> Where's your fanny pack at? >> It's inside my jacket. You mind if I check it just to grab the knife? >> All right. >> Knife's inside by my crotch. >> It unbuckles. I'm going to unbuckle. >> Sure does. >> I don't know what's in there either. >> All right. Well, I'll check before we go in. You got anything else crazy on you or No. >> No. >> The back of your hand. >> Oh my god. Are you still new? >> Huh? >> Are you still new? In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Showing no shame or no remorse does not make you right. When you are at fault, the only right choice is to take responsibility and act accordingly. Next, the mother and her daughter together searched for a silver bracelet for themselves. >> Okay, put your hands on your back. Both of them. >> What is this? >> That's a uh device. >> Yeah. On March 6th, 2024, police responded to a report of a theft that had already taken place. The suspects were believed to be a mother and daughter with what seemed like a perfect plan. Both of them filled carts with merchandise, removed the security tags, placed them into a bag, and hung it back inside the store. They then exited separately, acting as if they were completely unrelated. What they did not know was that police were already waiting outside. Hey, come here. Come here. Drop your bag. Drop your bag. >> Mhm. >> Drop your bag. >> What's your name? >> Open open your hands. >> Drop that. >> What's your name? >> Edna. >> Don't Don't be reaching your pockets. What's your name? >> Edna. >> Edna. Okay. I'm Officer Fosu with Mosquito. Okay. We got called about suspicious activity, possibly a retail theft going on. >> Okay. >> Okay. What's your name again? Ed. >> Okay. Do you have an ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> You don't have an ID on you at all? I don't. Okay. All right. What do you have in your pockets? You have any weapons or anything like that? >> Back here. >> Just keep your hands in your pockets. Okay. >> Okay. >> Is this your car right here? The silver Tahoe? >> No. >> No. >> No. >> What car were you going towards? >> Huh? >> What car were you going? >> Then I was just going to keep walking. >> You were just going to keep walking? >> Yeah. >> What car did she come in? >> What car did you come in here for? >> I didn't come in the car. >> How'd you get here? I got dropped off. >> By who? >> Huh? >> By who? >> By my uh friend. >> By your friend? >> We'll wait for Aaron. >> Yeah. >> The woman was panicked by the presence of the police. She appeared to understand what was happening and did not deny it when she was arrested. And she was quickly handcuffed. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> You don't have any needles on you, do you? >> No. You do? >> No. >> You sure? Okay. If I get stuck, I'm going to be pissed. >> No. >> You don't got no needles on you? >> No, I wouldn't I wouldn't lie to you. >> Okay. Right now, you're being detained. Okay. >> Okay. >> For our investigation. >> Okay. >> Did you conceal anything on you? >> No. >> Okay. >> Just sit tight. Okay. >> Yeah. >> This is your name? >> Yes, it is. >> Okay. If you're lying to me, give me a fake name. You know that's a charge. >> Yeah. I'm not lying, obviously. >> Okay. Do you have a driver's license? >> No, I don't. >> Have you ever had a driver's license? >> Yes, I have. >> Okay. So, if I pull you up, then I should show a picture of you and it's you. >> Okay. Sit tight. >> Okay. >> Eddie, you want to grab the bag and that earring? >> Yeah. >> And we're actually going to walk up around this passenger side just cuz this lady's going to leave and I don't want >> to be standing on that side of the car. >> The police attempted to move her behind the vehicle to prevent her daughter from witnessing what was happening. And at that moment, they explained the reason that led to the current situation. >> Okay. >> Yeah. You can throw her in the back if you want. For now, >> do you have your gloves? >> Yeah. >> Just do a quick search for days. You can do more thorough. >> Okay. Look, right now you're under arrest for retail theft. Okay. We have information from the store from inside. They watched you push your cart out of the store for all those items without making an attempt to pay for any of them. >> Okay, >> I'm not going to ask you any questions right now, but I'm telling you that's why you're under arrest. I'm going to search you. Do you have anything that's going to stick me, poke me? Needles, knives, nothing like that. You sure? Okay. Just your feet for me. >> I'm going to unzip you. Mhm. >> Raise your hands to me. What is this? >> That's a uh >> Oh, yeah. The tag removal device spoke for itself, standing in place of the woman's unspoken admission of guilt, while the other woman was simultaneously approached by additional officers. >> Craig, >> correct. She walked past the point of sale. >> Cover. >> Okay. Put your hands on your back. Both of them. Help me here. Yep. two. >> Yeah, I'll grab a second. I'm going to bring over my >> All right. What's your first name? >> Precious. >> All right. We're going to go over to my car. >> Uh, >> no. We're going over here. Oh, >> I was just asking about my purse. Is it going to stay with me? >> Is it got actual stuff in it or is it all stolen? >> My purse is my stuff. Well, we got to figure out which purse is your purse. We'll get it all sorted out. >> She only cared about her belongings and showed no remorse. And the officers discussed what had occurred. >> She had a security detaching device in her on her possession and then she had some type of credit card with information on it. >> Credit card with some information. >> I didn't get a good look at it. >> I was just going to make sure Egg's fine. Um he did a quick we did a quick search of her just so we could get her in the car >> cuz also I thought I saw hands go up in the air and I thought I was coming over this purse too. >> [laughter] >> So if we can divide and conquer her, if I go with one person, he go with another. >> Oh, that was quite >> somebody else. She like put the belts out and it's all in the purse. >> Finally, they were charged with retail theft. Edna was sentenced to 4 months in jail, while Precious received 90 days in jail with one year of probation. And together, they were ordered to pay nearly $1,600 in fines. Calm denial and careful planning meant nothing once clear evidence appeared. And every dishonest action eventually led to unavoidable consequences. Next, the store manager's false confidence slowly collapsed under police pressure. >> So, at no point did you take it for like your own personal gain. Nothing like that, right? >> No. Um, >> everybody makes mistakes. We've all been there. >> Yeah, we do. >> I'm not perfect. >> I've done stupid [ __ ] in the past. On August 21st, 2024, police were dispatched to Dollar Tree after receiving a report of a theft at the store with the suspect coming from the store's own manager. Watch what unfolded through the employees account. >> So, tell me what happened. >> So, um I get an email like we verify when we're in our stores our deposits, but usually our treasury department finds like a missing deposit before us like within a week they'll flag on an email telling us that it hasn't been validated through the bank. So, I started to receive emails. Um, quickly it was like two, then it became three, it was four. Um, right now I'm I have six. Um, and it's going to be six in total. This store manager, she had just started here on July 29th. It was her first day in the store. So, like she trained with us for 5 weeks at another location. Um, and came here by 8:4. I'm assuming my first time has it. So, >> so July 29th, she started at this location. Yeah. >> And then um you said she trained for 5 weeks at another location. >> Yeah. >> Um but like in the capacity of manager. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So she was >> But was she with the company before? >> No. >> Okay. So she got hired in brought in as a manager and then she was training. >> Yeah. So she finished. >> So this was like the first time being solo? >> Yes. Alone unattended, right? The suspect was fully confirmed to have committed the acts over an extended period and even through her statements she appeared largely unconcerned about whether she would be discovered. >> Like a little investigation and then on Wednesday you met with her. >> Yeah. >> Okay. With along with asset protection. Okay. And so you guys discussed it with her. >> Yeah. >> So she knows. >> Yes, she knows. >> Okay. So and and then I'm sorry. So then what did she say to you guys? >> She was very like she was very mildtempered. I mean she wasn't argumentative. She wasn't anything. She wasn't riled up or any was just very calm. And so I took them to the bank. Like I signed them out. I took them all to the bank. They're all going to be at the bank. And [music] you know, even after he left, I continued to talk to her a little bit oneonone like maybe you changed purses or bags that you brought to work. Don't you want to go check your car? Double check. Like if you were taking multiples at a time, what could slide out at a red light? Double check. And she's like, I know they're not in there. Like I took them to the bank. and she's just very confident but not really >> doesn't care to help or look or you know do anything for it as far as that. And even like the day before because I was um across town I sent the man the store manager that trained her. She's right up the road. So I sent her on Tuesday to meet with this store manager and go over the deposits and I had her staff at the bank see if there was anything going on and she was very you know casual with her really not too worried about it. Um, the biggest red flag for me right away was [music] that store manager stressed to her like, "Okay, you're coming in tomorrow. You're scheduled at 12, meaning Wednesday. Um, make sure you go to the bank before you go to your store cuz you need to resolve where your missing deposits are. They should be validated by the bank right away the next day. You need to talk to a bank manager and not a teller. Um, find out what's going on." So, she didn't know we were going to be in her store on Wednesday, but like she came walking in with a bag of McDonald's food, didn't care. I asked her, "Did you go to the bank before you came here?" >> And that was on Tuesday. >> Oh, no. On Wednesday, like when I was physically in the store with her, >> but she was supposed to go there on Tuesday to >> She was supposed to go Wednesday, like before she came in, cuz she came in at 12:00 on Wednesday. >> 8 days later, the female suspect was summoned in, still carrying an air of confidence with no idea what was about to unfold for her next. >> You know, you're in the room when you're in the big room. So, we're in the big room now. We're in the lobby. We appreciate you coming by to help us figure this out. No problem. >> Yeah. At this point, honestly, we're just trying to close it out. Um trying to figure out what happened. Um Dollar Tree was concerned about some of their money and that's why we're we're involved. Okay. Oh, so you know what he's talking about. >> Yeah. My um >> I guess Yeah. She had told cuz she had asked me that they came anybody reach out to me. I told her no [clears throat] until now. Yeah. >> Yeah. So uh when did you actually start working there? Um thinking June for training. >> June. >> That one story. Yeah. >> And it wasn't at that location, right? >> No. >> Okay. So, you get there at June. And then what happened when uh when did you start working over at the the local one over here? >> Well, I did like 5 weeks in training. So, I probably didn't start there maybe today. Maybe end of July, I'm thinking. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> So, at the end of July, you start working there, >> I think. Yeah. >> And what was your like job title over there? >> A store manager. >> Nice. Right. from the get-go. >> Mhm. >> Training. Well, I mean, >> that's [clears throat] pretty good. Yeah, >> I trained. I mean, I told myself, "Okay, well, I'm getting into Dollar Tree to start." But, you know, it it was it was different from what I was expecting. >> Experience. Yeah. >> Signed. Majority of them don't sign. So, basically, I'm signing cuz I'm taking everything. Like I told I take everything I drop in a sec in the in the night deposit. I don't know nothing else. This is my first time. >> Okay. You know, that's what we're yall see me you know if y'all see me in the camera. >> Okay. And like I told her, check the bank cameras. Like I don't know. This is my first time. So I don't know what was the deal, what's going on, what's missing. >> But you know, like I told her, you know, you can search my car, you can search, you know, I don't you know, >> no, you you came running. You said, "How can I help?" >> I'm a new person. [clears throat] You know, I just started this is I never had this issue, never had this problem. I worked for state trans for 5 years. Like I never had issue. I've been as a store manager. I never dealt with nothing with money. I don't steal money. Why would I take your money? The woman mainly tried to highlight her own efforts during her time at work. And she did not admit any wrongdoing even when discussing the reason she was fired. >> I don't I don't know anything else. So they basically let me go because of my me cuz of my name of the log. That's pretty much it. That's what she told me. They just going to go ahead and let me go for it. >> What terminated? They >> Yeah. When she they gave me a suspension and then she finally said they made a decision to let me go cuz I had written broke my name on the law. >> Yeah. >> So here's the log that I guess we got. I know it's kind of hard to see. >> Yeah. >> So, you deposited these, but you're saying you dropped them off in like a drop box outside the bank. >> Yeah. >> All right. Um, yes. So, I spoke with Crystal. They still don't have any other deposit slips from from those times. That's why we're just trying to get it figured out. >> How long's it been though since this happened? >> This August. Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. So, they should have got everything. >> They should. Yeah. >> Wonder if they're counting like one dollar at a time. They should have had >> She was saying Yeah. She was saying they were waiting for back from the bank. I don't know. They were waiting for I don't know. >> Yeah. So, I I ended up speaking with the bank as well. We ended up doing subpoenas from the bank. Um because they're independent, they have nothing to do with this. They'll tell us whether or not they got the money. And the bank is saying they didn't get the money either. >> I don't know. I have it's whatever deposit slip they had in the safe. I just grab like from which if you see if it's two signatures or whatever it is and then I put in the in in the deposit in the thing. That's it. >> Okay. >> Where's the Where's the deposit on that on that bank? It's the Charisa what? 100 North Congress, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Cuz is there Cuz with the teller and then there's a box right here. You open it and you just >> the inside of the bank? >> No, it's outside by the drivethru. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Um what if I said there was no there's no camera footage of you at the bank dropping them off? Would that be weird? >> It would. I mean, it's a bank. It should have cameras. >> Mhm. In reality, the police steered their questions to determine whether she knew there was a spot at the bank without cameras. After that, officers applied pressure to see whether any admission would follow. >> The next thing I'd want to do is reach out to the bank again and just verify that your car was there just so we can get you completely out of this. >> Yeah. Yeah. I don't Yeah, I don't get out of the vehicle cuz once you pull up, the thing's right there. You just open it, drop, and close and go on. >> Okay. Yeah. Okay. So, that would be the next step is we asked for the camera footage again of the vehicle and then we should see your vehicle doing the drop boxes on those days around the time that you put Ray. >> Mhm. >> Okay. All right. So, at no point did you take it for like your own personal gain? Nothing like that, right? >> No. >> Okay. >> If I mean you take my background, I don't have any criminal history of me doing anything. I mean, well, parking speed tickets, that's I mean, that's everybody, you know, that's everybody. But when it comes to theft, what? That's not me. I don't Yeah. That's why this right here was very shocking to me. >> To me, I'm like, I don't take anything. I don't, you know, and then because I was training at the other store, they even I even took deposits there and drop at the store when I was at training >> and nothing was missing. So, to me, this is Yeah. >> So, what do you think happened there? >> I have I don't know. I have no clue. I don't know. From one manager, she was telling me, you know, it's just like letting me know just be careful in this store. That's pretty much it. like man, I don't know why the store managers didn't laugh in that store. I don't know. I I'm just new to Dollar Tree and I never had issues like this. Never had problem like this with money. >> The woman repeatedly used the excuse that it was her first time dealing with such a situation. And even while denying theft, she did not view it as her own fault during the job. Instead, [music] blaming the handling process. >> This is my first I don't know why they even do that. Like they're better off just having like Franks come pick up the instead of having >> You put it all in the safe. >> Yeah. And then they dealing with different type of bank. Each store have a bank. To me, that don't make no sense. But >> they they they put you in a situation basically that that you weren't looking for. >> No. >> And you made a mistake and mistakes happen. So you made a mistake in this situation and maybe we can make it right with Crystal. >> I mean at the end of the day is you know as being store I mean >> ability I you know >> brainstorm with me. So, they put you in this situation. They should have bricks come by. If they have $5,000, >> it cost them $100 to get Brinks to go pick it up. And then you're not out there with money. You're not out there driving your car by yourself, >> potentially going to get robbed or whatever else. They're putting people in this situation. So, shame on them. >> Yeah. >> And they're putting thousands of dollars in people's hands, which is a lot of money >> in the scheme of things. A lot of not a lot of money to them, but it's a lot of money to me and you. >> Yeah. >> Um, so they're they're they're setting themselves up for failure. You're a good person. >> You made a mistake. >> Is there a way we can get this money back to Crystal? >> I don't know. I mean, >> I barely have anything. I don't know if they want me to do a payment plan or something to give him something that lost. I have no idea. >> What happened to all the money? What did you guys >> I don't have any I don't [music] >> You had it and then you spent it. What did we spend it on? Where did it go? Why can't we get it back to Crystal? >> Did you end up paying bills with her? Um, but you this ain't $5. That's There's no way I took that type of money. >> Okay, then how much did you take? >> There's no way. I wouldn't even bother taking >> So, the mountain total is the is the 5,000. That's That's where we're at right now. >> So, how much how much did you take? It was less than that. >> The woman's confidence and cheerful demeanor completely collapsed when police confronted her directly. At that moment, with the transaction records in hand, the atmosphere turned suffocating. >> Did you get behind on bills? Did you have to pay some home bills for it? You have kids? >> Where did the money go? Maybe you can get on a payment plan with them. >> No, I don't have any. I'm still behind on rent pretty. I mean, >> rent is not cheap in the world today. >> No, it's not. >> No, [music] I'm here to check my account. I didn't buy none of this in my town. >> Yeah, of course. So, they're patting the numbers a little bit. They're they're a mess to begin with. So, maybe it's like 3,000. Maybe that's the payment plan we need to get on. >> I need that. >> So, just why don't you just take us back to the beginning of how how did this even happen? When you take the deposits out of the safe, where did you end up going with the banks? The >> bank. >> You went to the bank or you took them to your bank? >> No. No. No, I don't think no. Not in my bank. No. >> Did you take the money out and throw the bags in or what? What happened? >> In the end, the woman charged with grand theft, repeatedly denying responsibility and blaming procedures only worsened the outcome because accountability and honesty mattered more than excuses when the evidence was clear. Next, the man knew everything [music] except being caught. >> You don't need a ground. You don't need >> Okay. It's not that big of a >> It is. >> I know. No, no, no, no. Just please. I just I know. >> On January 18th, 2025, police received a report from Walmart about an ongoing theft as the suspect was believed to have not fully paid for the items he had taken. Upon contact, the man appeared to have prepared his plan in advance. >> Whoa. You didn't pay for all your items. >> What? >> You didn't pay for all your items? >> Yes, I did. [laughter] >> No. >> I had a receipt. >> I didn't receipt. A gift card. >> Come on. Let's go. >> Let's not grab these. >> Sorry. >> That way. >> Okay. You don't need to grab. Okay. >> It's not that big. >> It is. >> Do you want to just take this all >> You have our ID? >> The man was confident because he had a receipt for his purchase. But shortly after he pleaded in a manner that effectively admitted his actions. >> I can pay for it. >> Well, you've had the opportunity to pay for it. >> Well, I had I had a guilt card and it didn't work and then it was like a whole thing. >> 880 Fox. Can you show me how to contact police? You have your ID? >> Yeah. >> I can pay I can pay for it. I sound >> You've already had to pay for it. >> I know. I know. I know. >> Okay. Let's see this ID. You have a floor ID? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Have a seat. >> Okay. >> I I know. I know. I know. I I I >> I'm not sure what's going up with you, but let's stand up. >> No, no, no, no. Let's stand up. >> It's okay. It's okay. I I don't know what's Can I There's nothing. Sir, come put your hand behind your back. Can I just talk to you? >> Can I just talk? Relax. Anything illegal on you I need to know about? >> Nothing. >> Is there anything we can talk talk about? No. Just >> No, I I understand. I I get I I'm not I Is there anything we can talk about? I can pay I can pay for it. I just feel bad. I don't care. This isn't me. I know this is my wall. >> The man showed guilt for stealing from the store. He clearly knew it was wrong and he even felt offended when the police touched his personal belongings. >> You can't go through my wallet. I can actually [laughter] That's my personal property. >> 880 Fox. Can you send me one more please? >> Sir, I apologize. I I will Okay. I don't have anything on me, dude. I promise. There's nothing in my pocket. >> I I Okay, I didn't do it. I I swear. Please, officer. I I understand what I did. I want I I know. I know. I know. I get it. Have a seat. I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry. Can I just Okay. I'm sorry. >> I just want to apologize. I'm sorry, >> sir. Can you talk? I understand what I I know. Okay. >> I know what I did wrong. I know. >> Sorry. I just I just apologize. Just let me pay. Call my dad. >> You've had the chance. >> I know. I I know. >> The man knew that all of this had become completely reluctant after each apology he made. And in that same manner, he continued to beg anyone who appeared to have the power to help him. >> He's way over. >> I'm sorry. I apologize. I know. I know. I know. I'm sorry. >> Is this good? >> Excuse me. Huh? >> What's up? >> Yeah, that's fine. Yeah. I just want >> I just want to know what's going to happen. I don't want to get arrested. But >> um so she's going to refund the other one. >> So the answer to his pleading of I know was no. At that point, the police began questioning him based on the items he had attempted to steal. >> Let's start off with the uh the steaks. >> Yes. >> Where do we get the stickers for the ground beef? >> On the ground beef. >> Okay. And you just took the ground beef sticker and stuck it on. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's not like I have it in my house or something. >> Can I ask Can I ask a question? >> Sure. >> Am I getting arrested? I just I just I don't know. I don't >> Well, you've already had the opportunity. >> I know that, sir. Sir, I know that. But if >> you walked out with $144 worth of stuff, >> sir. I understand. I I do. I I do. And this is I will never do this again. I swear to God. >> So, how much stuff did you pay for? Well, what was the >> I think it was like $50 or something. >> Okay. Just I didn't know what you were doing. I just >> Okay. Cuz I'm going through that next. >> Okay. >> Nothing illegal. The police continued to check the man's wallet and shortly after they discovered a problem as another lie appeared to have surfaced. >> So, which are you? Logan Brendesi. >> Yes, sir. >> Or Royan Logan. Logan. >> You're not Roy. >> I'm Logan Roy Brendi. My last name is Roy. >> Okay. So, who's Roy Logan? >> That's me. Logan Roy. Just said that. >> Okay. The man was charged with theft after attempting to steal merchandise using fraudulent price stickers and providing inconsistent identification. Dishonesty only deepens the consequences. Once trust is broken, apologies cannot undo deliberate choices and accountability becomes unavoidable. Next, let's watch this outofcrol woman find her rights. >> Legally arresting me right now. >> We got a call. >> WHERE IS MY RIGHTS? >> Hurry up. >> WHERE IS [screaming] MY RIGHT? WE GOT A CALL. >> On October 14th, 2025, police received a call from a Quick Check convenience store reporting that a woman had stolen items from the store and left without paying. When officers approached her, the woman clearly showed a complete loss of control. >> Do me a favor. Put your Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands Put your hands behind your back. Let her fold. >> Okay, go. I got her. I got her. >> No, you guys can't. >> You got her. >> What did I do legally? >> Okay. All right. >> What did I do legally? You have to give me my rights. You got to GIVE ME MY RIGHTS. You [ __ ] piece of [ __ ] >> Stop. >> No. What did I do? >> The woman acted as if she knew the arrest procedures well. Perhaps this was not her first time. It was clear that even when police gave their reasons, she did not accept them easily. >> What did I do? The reason why we're here is for a call. Uh uh shoplifting a cigarette. >> No, I didn't. >> Okay. >> I didn't. >> Flax, >> you don't have proof. Where's your proof? >> You can't resist. >> You're You're being detained right now. >> No, cuz Johnny O is my boss chief. >> Boss man. >> Okay. You're being detained right now and you're resisting. Even so, the woman continued to escalate the situation, pushing it further into chaos. >> Okay. All right. Stop. Listen. Stop resisting. You're going to make it worse for yourself. >> No, cuz you guys can't touch me. >> Okay. Well, >> got four packs of cigarettes >> that I paid for. >> Okay. >> All right. Well, we're going to we're going to find out. Okay. >> Hey, listen. If you paid for them, no problem. >> You know EXING LIEUTENANT. STAND DOWN. [screaming] STANDING DOWN. UNARREST me right now. You have to legally unarrest me. MAKE THAT CALL RIGHT NOW CUZ I'VE BEEN SUFFERING PTSD cuz of you. That's why you're on auto play. >> We have a deal for you. Ain't ready. >> Relax. >> No, you can't because you have to under arrest me once. >> Wait, can I ask you a question? What? Did you pay for the cigarettes? >> Yes, I did. >> 31. >> If we if listen for the cigarettes. No problem. Okay. >> Okay. And then you're going to get popped. >> Okay. No problem. >> No problem. We got a call. >> WHERE'S MY RIGHTS? >> MARIA, >> WHERE'S MY [screaming] RIGHTS? >> WE GOT A CALL. >> The woman repeatedly demanded her rights, insisting that police read them to her first. It turned out she had a reason behind such a strong understanding of her authority. >> Oh, she's right here. Let's put her in the back of her car. >> No, you're not allowed to. >> Yeah, you are. >> No. Until you prove that legally by these brown floors, you cannot. >> Watch her feet. One foot. You have one point putting me to do this for life. >> I don't have a cage. >> Oh. Um, >> hold it. Let me grab my car. >> Yeah. Yeah. All right. >> Before we put her in though, just pat her down quick, >> man. Put your shoe on. >> I'm a war veteran and you're doing this illegally. I'm going to go to quick check and I'm going to uh she did have uh four packs of uh >> we have the >> cigarettes in the yeah in her uh purse search. >> At that point, as she had demanded, she was read her Miranda rights after resisting. However, it seemed she had no intention of listening to them in full. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you didn't will be used against. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him present with you while you are being questioned if you cannot afford to hire a lawyer. One will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. >> You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and I have and I answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand rights? >> No, because you're arresting me illegally and you have no proof and you need to call my lawyer. a quick check and um talk to um >> just see if we can get the video off. So that's going to take some time. >> Yeah. Um >> I have to get unarrested legally. >> That's not happening. >> Where are you from? >> I am from here. My attorney and I am the briefcase and I am dying right now because this is illegal. 958 958 958 958. That's why I have change left over. >> What do you take? >> Nothing. I'm sober. You guys are >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. >> Oh, wow. You guys are not because of how you're doing. >> Can I just explain something to you? We got We received a call from Quick Check. >> Yeah, but what you're doing is illegal. It's against We don't call PD. It's against your guys' laws down here, and I know my life. >> The woman remained adamant that everything the police did was illegal. At the same time, an officer took a statement from the store employee, making it clear that she was not as sober as she claimed. >> Hi, >> so uh give me the uh back story. What happened? >> Okay, so she comes in. That's what she said cuz I wasn't out there. in the front. She wasn't >> coming here and she took another. >> So she just walked back in here and just from where exactly from here >> the shelf. Yeah, please. You're going to mind. So yeah. So So she walks in and then she just >> she Yeah. I said, "Why you doing?" And she said that's free ticket. >> She said it's free and then she just walks out with it. Okay. Did she attack any of you guys or anything like that? Like did she hit like physically touch you guys or anything or No. So she just walked in here, went to the uh shelf and then walked right out saying it's free. >> Yeah. Okay. >> I can't remember. >> How many was it? >> 143. >> How many packs? >> That's That one I That's for Yeah. >> So, let me confirm. Did she pay for anything? >> No. >> No. Okay. Do you uh do you mind bringing these up? Give me a receipt for these, please. Um I need the um the receipt for these and then just bring them back because I'm going to take pictures of them. Okay. Is that her? So, so if you don't mind just Yeah. A bit further back. >> Yeah. Just so I can get it from the very beginning. >> Okay. So, she's right here. Is that okay? >> Yeah. Hey, let me just uh um I'm going to give you a card with my email if you don't mind. Just um when you get a moment, email it to me. Um it's a it's it's a short clip, so I don't think it's going to it's not like a >> You took it. How many took? >> She bought this one onlineish. >> She bought that one. >> Yes, >> she Okay. This one she bought >> in the morning to save. >> Okay. I mean, if she bought it, then that's fine. >> Just Okay. So, let me hold on to this and then if you these ring them up and then just bring them back. I want to take a picture of it. >> Back to the woman. She was taken to the police station. Given what officers had already faced, they were forced to issue careful warnings. >> And Maria, I'm I'm I'm just I'm just trying to come at a diplomatic manner. All right. If you start kicking >> I'm not going to. I just don't. >> Okay. If as long as you know your race, that's fine. But if you start kicking >> or doing any anything stupid, it's not going to make legally being detained for no reason. And I need some water. >> All right. All right, we're going to get you some water. >> And I need you to call my attorney, Miriam Gyad. And >> we're going to do all that when we're finished. Okay. >> Okay, cool. >> Just to be clear, you're not being detained right now. You're under arrest >> for what? >> Aggravated soul in law enforcement. >> Shoplifting and resisting. >> No, illegally, right? Please do that right now. >> No, it's not illegally. You got way. >> No, that's fine. That's fine. You have a seat. >> Which way? >> Whichever way you want. >> Step over the the chain. >> Um Maria, just so you know, I did I did confirm these are yours. Okay. You did pay for these in the morning. Okay. >> I paid for it all. No, you didn't. But okay. >> And you can't me to jail. You have to legally by the rights of this town. You have to give me a ticket because that's under law to never send me to jail because you're by everything. >> There was something odd here. She now claimed she should only receive a ticket and not go to jail. Even though she had clearly denied any wrongdoing earlier, it was obvious she knew exactly what she was doing. I'm right here and legally under Clifton and under Little Falls, you cannot detain me for these charges. I'm supposed to get legally fixated. >> Okay. >> Okay. Why? Cuz why are you guys overriding this? So, you guys are charging me illegally. >> I mean, it depends on, you know, watch my attorney, please. >> You got to fill out some paperwork. The way this is going to go down >> No, because I need to know why you guys are charging me to go to jail when this is a like minimal assault. >> Hey, listen to me. We got to go with like paperwork. You're going to have a chance to call whoever you'd like. >> You have the number. I don't have it cuz you I don't have a phone. >> I don't know who your attorney is. We won't >> It is Miam Guy. Please call her. >> We will give you a phone and you call whatever number you want to call. All right. >> You just said they're not. >> Are you dependent on alcohol or drugs? >> No, you are. >> Okay. Have you tried suicide before? >> No, you are. >> Okay. Are you thinking about yourself right now? >> No, you are. >> Okay. Are you presently taking any medication? >> No, you are. Do you use alcohol? >> No, you are. >> You use any street drugs? >> No, you are. You guys are trafficking illegally. >> Okay. Have you tried to kill yourself or done serious harm to yourself? >> You have, and it's illegal. >> Do you have any serious medical or mental right now? >> Have you had any previous mental or emotional problems? >> No, but you do. >> Have you ever been hospitalized for any mental or emotional? >> No, you have. >> Are you pregnant by any >> No, [snorts] but you are. Times two. >> Are you on any special diets? >> No, but you are. three. >> Finally, the woman was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault on an officer, and shoplifting. Knowing the law does not excuse illegal actions. Using that knowledge to resist only makes the consequences worse. Next, the man clearly believed that stealing was not a crime. >> Fox. So, >> how much was it, brother? >> In the 900s. >> In the hundreds. >> 900s. >> 900? Really? >> I thought they were to $300. On June 12th, 2025, officers responded to a Home Depot after a man was discovered stealing merchandise inside the store. Upon arrival, police immediately stopped him as he attempted to leave. Watch what happened next. >> Come here. Stop. Stop. Stop. What's going on? >> All right. I watch you this whole time. >> I watch you. We got it on camera. All right. Robert. Uh, 100%. >> 100%. Where do I go? >> Back this up. >> All right. >> Never know. >> Have you seen somebody my side? Really? >> Yeah. >> Oh, >> yeah. >> That's on America's Funniest Home. Oh, you want to go with you? >> Yep. >> Oh, I thought you said stay right here. >> No, just that. >> Yeah, that's what it's going to say. I heard you be under the cops of America's funniest home video. You know what I mean? >> There's some big people that run. >> Yeah, some deceiving. >> Really? >> Very deceiving. >> Holy [ __ ] >> You're going to sit in that chair. >> This one. Sorry about that. >> You have your ID on you? >> Uh, it's an old one. >> The photo and your name and everything. >> Yeah, it has my name on it. Yep. Right here. When was the last time you got arrested? >> Uh, a month and a half ago. >> For what? >> Um, it was nothing related to this. It was uh driving with um license suspended. >> Okay. That's why you have an old one. >> Yeah. >> Cuz you're not supposed to be driving. Let me see it. >> No, you know what? All it is is because of um I didn't pay a fine. >> Yep. >> For any of that. Well, I found out from being pulled over that it was because of that. >> What's your current address? >> I'm really shocked. That kid actually give you guys a hard time with that. That's That's mindblowing. >> The man showed respect for what the police did based on what he had seen before, but he was not used to facing his own actions. >> Listen, we're all human. People make mistakes, but I mean to run to me is like I don't know. >> How many times have you been arrested for retail theft before? I think twice. >> Okay. How many times were you convicted of them? >> Uh I don't think any. >> Okay. >> Cuz I >> Was it Was it at Home Depot or was it at other stores? >> One was at a Home Depot. >> Okay. >> Um but the Home Depot one got thrown out. >> Okay. Uh because long story short, my boss, he needed a expansion tank and a garage door opener uh for no gate opener. And he needed it two sets of the water tanks and he needed two of the garage gate openers with four arms in my truck. I can't get all of those in one shot. Okay. So, I was going the night before, purchasing it, leaving his credit card on his table. He was calling it in. >> You don't have to explain it. >> No, I'm just telling you. I'm just giving you That's why, but it was it was wind up thrown out. Yeah. >> He showed no concern for his current situation and repeatedly told stories as if he needed sympathy and understanding. >> I know people have lied to you too before, so you're going to see I'm just It's uh >> What do you do for work? I work on the uh water mains >> where at >> um >> business out of Lockahhatchee my boss >> but uh it's just been >> ours have been cut domestically >> Home Depot >> like the water means like in the ground. >> Yeah. Yeah. Water services and stuff like that. [snorts] Um sewage. [clears throat] >> How long you been working for that? [sighs] two and a half years, but we're down to like 20 hours right now a week. Just slow doesn't justify anything I do, don't get me wrong, but I'm being honest with you. You know what I mean? >> It's just been a little rough. Family issues thing going on, too. So, >> why is the why is work slow? It's not like a steady. >> He's just He's not It's not me. It's whatever work he he gets. You know what I mean? >> Is it So, it's a it's a personal company. It's not like for the city or anything like that. >> Correct. It's a personal company. >> So, the man clearly had a steady job and enough income to pay for the items. Yet, he chose to steal without even checking the price only to end up shocking himself. >> Box. So, >> how much was it, brother? >> In the 900s. >> In the hundreds. >> 900s. >> 900? Really? >> Yeah. No walk to pull it overboard. >> I thought that was the $300. >> Literally, I thought that was 300 bucks sticking over there. >> Yeah, but I thought that's where it said 300 by there. >> Take a step back. >> I take a step back. >> Your hands inward like you're praying. >> Okay. closer. We might need a third one. >> Yeah, maybe four. >> Yeah, I'm not going to lie to you. The the time with the Home Depot where it got they had four. >> Maybe have mine. >> Yeah, cuz it got wet. It's going to be very uncomfortable. >> Immediately afterward, the suspect was taken to the patrol car and that was when he stated the reason behind his actions. >> You want to tell me what's going on here today? What brought us here? >> Just financial issues back at home. So, >> okay. Go ahead. >> Bad decisions in life. >> Okay. >> That's it. >> Financial issues at home. >> Yeah. How did that lead you to coming to Home Depot? >> Just bad decisions. >> I need a little bit more explanations. I get having financial issues, but why come to Home Depot? Why did you come here today? looking to hopefully get some tools and hopefully make money or I don't know. I don't know. Wasn't levelheaded truthfully. >> Okay. No, listen. That's completely understandable. We are human beings and we make mistakes, right? >> Yeah. >> So, mistakes happen. >> Yeah. >> The tools that you said you were looking to get, were those the tools that you put in the box? Um, well, it was just tools I was looking at. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What were you planning on doing with those tools? >> I don't know. Put them up for sale or something. I don't know. >> Okay, that's understandable. >> What's going on um in your life? >> Hours are cut at work. >> Where do you work at? I work at uh for a water treatment company. >> That's a private private business. Two years. >> The man was charged with felony theft because the value of the stolen merchandise exceeded $750. He was also trespassed from the Home Depot property. Having a job did not excuse his actions. Ignoring the price and choosing to steal only turned his shock into a life-changing mistake. [music] Um like whether paying back the cost of what you what the store lost plus court fees and all this stuff. So, it could cost you more than what you actually end up taking. Okay. >> Or they if it's up to them up to decide it's up to what the victim wants to do, what they're what they want in return. But you know, but like say example, you don't show up to court, then now they're going to issue a warrant for your arrest. Now you're really going to spend time in jail. >> As the conversation continued, the police explained what she would face. It's not just the petty theft. It's the fraud. >> I have the gift card. >> Yeah. But you already use one of the cards. So if you But I have one in there that's not used. >> Where's the other gift card at? >> It's in there. >> Yeah, but he said you loaded three cards. >> So you use one of them. And you admitted to and I and I give you and I give you credit for at least acknowledging that and then accepting ownership of that. But there's also still consequences for what happened. >> These just don't go these just don't go away. >> I know these things just don't go away on their own. There's a process. Okay. >> Okay. Can you at least write my cousin's number down? Cuz I know when I if I go there, I'm going to be calling off a pay phone and not my phone. I don't know his number. >> We'll we'll we'll accommodate that when we get to the station cuz we still got to go to the station. She's going to process you and then you're going to get booked. She's going to take you up to the county jail. You're going to get booked in there and you'll you'll wait around to your first appearance. >> Jesus Christ.
